Ernest Winston Angley

August 9, 1921 — May 7, 2021

Our beloved pastor and evangelist, Reverend Ernest Angley, went home to be with his Lord on May 7, 2021.

Ernest Winston Angley was born on August 9, 1921, in Mooresville, North Carolina to the late Julius and Fannie Angley.

At the young age of 18, Rev. Angley gave his heart to the Lord and began his lifetime of service to win the lost at any cost.  He preached the Gospel in its fullness; and the Lord blessed the people with salvation, miracles and healings.

While attending college, Rev. Angley started dating his future wife, Esther Sikes; and together, they came to Akron, Ohio and established Grace Cathedral and later, Ernest Angley Ministries.

Rev. Angley was preceded in death by his beloved wife Esther (Angel), brothers and sisters, Judson, Clyde, Lillian (Tay), Leitha (Pete), Cleo and Bea. He is survived by his dear sister-in-law, Aline, much-loved niece, Gail, and many other family, friends, members of Grace Cathedral and ministry partners.

Reverend Angley will be greatly missed. He was not only a pastor, evangelist and author; he was also a true friend and a spiritual leader who cared deeply for his staff, congregation and ministry partners. They all loved him very much.

Rev. Angley’s legacy comes from his own words — “If I die before the Rapture takes place, I’d want these words to be said about me: He pleased God.”

Rev. Angley’s favorite scripture passage was, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5,6)

Notes of remembrance can be posted at ErnestAngley.org.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until 5 pm on Saturday, May 22 at Grace Cathedral, 2700 State Rd., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. A Funeral Celebration will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 12 pm at Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls. Rev. Chris Machamer and Rev. Steve Millar officiating. The Funeral Celebration will be live streamed on the Ernest Angley Ministries’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. Private interment will take place at a later date.

If I were to die before the Rapture, that is what I would want to be said about me—that I pleased God.

-Ernest Angley

Put the work of God above your very life; be willing to die for His name’s sake. I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls.

-Ernest Angley

No matter what comes their way, they know they must finish their work for the Lord. And then however they die, however the Lord can get the most glory out of their lives, they are willing. I know I am willing for the Lord to take me or use me however He wants to win souls for His work and for His divine purpose to be done.

-Ernest Angley

The Bible tells us in Acts 14:22 that Paul and Barnabas advised people to continue in the faith. They wouldn’t always be there to talk to them personally to bring them out of feelings. I say that to you today: Even if I’m not with you, you must continue in faith, not your feelings.

-Ernest Angley

If the Rapture doesn’t happen first, the Lord in a wonderful, gentle manner will light the path to Heaven all the way. Not even a shadow will darken the valley.

-Ernest Angley

I have told the Lord many times that if I can bring more people into the Kingdom by my death than by my life, so be it. In whatever way the Lord wants to use me, I want to be used. I don’t want to live a moment longer if I can’t win souls. I live to help people, to bless them.

-Ernest Angley

I have a standing order with the Lord: “Dear Jesus, anything that I ask you must be done according to your divine will or I don’t want it, no matter what I say. I just want prayers answered that are according to your divine will. Oh, please God, look at all my tomorrows and work accordingly.”

-Ernest Angley

I live to do God’s will. If He sees fit for me to make the Rapture, good; but if He sees fit to take me home before, that’s all right, too. If He wants to sacrifice my life to bring in more souls to His Kingdom, so be it. Whatever He wants, I want. Jesus died for me, and I’m willing to live or die for Him.

-Ernest Angley

My Journey is a short one; and although I know I may go home by way of the grave, I believe that I will meet Christ in the air in the Rapture.

-Ernest Angley

I have committed everything to the Lord; I have nothing left to give. Whether I live or die, all of my strength and every part of me belongs entirely to Him to use in any way that He desires. I can say with the Apostle Paul, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand (II Timothy 4:6).

-Ernest Angley

  • Reverend Ernest Angley truly was a servant of the Most High. I had never seen miracles but when God drop me off right on the doorstep of Grace Cathedral 15 years ago I saw miracles in abundance and received many for myself and children. I am so thankful for all the the sermons, teaching, all the love that God has poured out through Reverend Angley. I thank God also for getting us ready for this hour by his teachings and raising up two ministers to take us the rest of the journey. Reverend Machamer and Reverend Millar I/we will continue to lift you up in prayer until that glorious rapture day when we see our Reverend Angley and loved ones that went on in the Lord before us. God bless each of the members here and aboard and comfort every soul that needs comfort. God bless you all

  • ” REV. ERNEST ANGLEY HAD SERVED AS CHRIST.”
I have fought a good fight,
    I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith.  .....2 Timothy 4:7.

It has become true in his life and he fought a good fight and finished his course in God and proved that he is the man of God. So its time to joyous that he is being with God hereafter.  But we all really missed him and his prayers.

  • Reverend Angley,
You are our unforgettable teacher, father and friend. You have been the greatest soul winner of many generations. You were Gods true prophet, and as Moses, led millions of people to heaven. You were Gods extra Grace given to us; one conversation with you was always life changing through the divine gifts of the spirit. As one cannot fully understand or describe the personality or full works of Jesus, neither can we say enough good about you! He said we would do greater works than him (on a larger scale) by the Holy Spirit and so you’ve led us to do so.
    John 21:25
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
We will be right behind you! Goodbye for now, until our next meeting. With love, Jacob.

  • Rev. Angley was one of the finest people I’ve had the privilege to be around. There was no compromising of the word of God. Rev. Angley gave his entire life for the work of God throughout the world. He showed us how a Christian is supposed to live this life. There is no telling how many multitudes of souls came to be saved in Christ through his work & unwavering devotion to God. He stopped at nothing to win the lost at any cost.

  • I praise God for the Miracle crusade held in Zimbabwe in 1999, and the miracle crusades held in South Africa thereafter. These events changed my life. It’s something to think that we all were, and still are, under the teaching of God’s holy prophet just like Elijah, Moses, and Elisha. I Thank You Jesus for Rev. Angley’s life and for his home-going because he is happy with Jesus,  God the Father, and with Angel! He won multitudes for Jesus and his love for the souls in Africa blesses me through and through. I believe he will be winning many more souls by Jesus taking him home.

I was one of those stars marked for Rev Angley to win, and so I pray that I can now go forth in all divine faith and in all divine love as I have been raised by Papa Angley to do. I wish to use everything God has given us through Rev Angley, His holy prophet.

Thank You Jesus for teaching me about the Holy Ghost through Rev Angley. I never knew the Holy Ghost as the Divine Comforter till now, He truly is. God’s beautiful and perfect will was done, and I will always miss our papa till Rapture day, but the Holy Ghost has given me much joy in knowing that we will meet him again. In listening to sermons by Rev. Angley (“We Have Nothing Without the Blood” and “All is well”)  and in hearing what he said concerning the passing of God’s children,  I dedicate this song to him as I imagine that this is what he would probably say. Love you Papa Angley, and thank You Jesus for everything!!

The Time of My Departure - by Tabitha
    Do not cry for me
I am with the Kings of Kings and I am happy
    Don’t sink low in grief
For I have achieved the task that He set for me
And I have seen God’s face,
So journey on until you win the race

The time of my departure has come
I’ve fought a good fight, and I kept the faith
I overcame through Jesus Christ and you will too
    And remember
That this is not goodbye, it’s just goodnight

I sojourned on the Earth for many years
I faced many tests and trials
But I knew no defeat for I was in Christ
I lived by faith, and I walked in His love
And now I sit with Him (Revelation 3:21)
So rejoice with me as I gladly sing

The time of my departure has come
I’ve fought a good fight, and I kept the faith
I overcame through Jesus Christ and you will too
    And remember
That this is not goodbye, it’s just goodnight
    See you in the morning

  • I dedicate this song in honor and tribute to Rev. Ernest W. Angley’s homegoing: Beyond the Sunset
    Song by Hank William

    Should you go first
And I remain to walk the road alone
I’ll live in memory’s garden dear
    With happy days we’ve known
In spring, I’ll wait for roses red
    When fades the lilacs bloom
And in early fall when brown leaves call
I’ll catch a glimpse of you
    Should you go first
And I remain for battles to be fought
Each thing you’ve touched along the way
    Will be a hallowed spot
I’ll hear your voice, I’ll see your smile
    Though blindly I may grope
The mem’ry of your helping hand
Will buoy me on with hope
    Beyond the sunset
    Oh, blissful morning
    When with our Saviour
    Heaven is begun
    Earth’s toiling ended
    Oh, glory dawning
    Beyond the sunset
    When day is done
    Should you go first
And I remain to finish with the scroll
No lessening shadows shall ever creep in
To make this life seem droll
We’ve known so much of happiness
We’ve had our cup of joy
And memory is one gift of God
    That death cannot destroy
I want to know each step you take
That I may walk the same
For someday down that lonely road
You’ll hear me call your name
Should you go first and I remain
One thing I’ll have you do
Walk slowly down that long, long path
    For soon, I’ll follow you
    In that fair homeland
    We’ll know no parting
    Beyond the sunset for evermore

  • What can I say about this true man of God that I’m sure others and testify about. Before coming to the knowledge of the truth and finding it at Grace Cathedral in 2014 I just sent her I was so bound with anger, depression and I was chasing after the things of the world to seek their approval. I thought I was living a Christian Life but then I meant Reverend Angley, he didn’t scold me he taught how to live the Christian Life it was due to his influence and the guidance of the holy spirit that I was able to take the online Bible College and graduate 40 years after I’d answered the doors of Grace Cathedral. Taking the Bible College transformed my life in God I understand the importance I’m spending quality time with Jesus no matter the storms of life that we Face everyday. In this life we will never get comfortable in the flesh but the holy spirit will give us comfort and confidence in the Lord because we can trust his word to provide for us. I cried very deeply last week when I heard the sudden passing of Reverend Angley, but I’m reminded of the trials and tribulations that Reverend Angley went through at the passing of his wife angel. Jesus told him to put both hands in his and the Lord shall guide him the rest of the journey. Yes our past your teacher and friend sleeps that Eternal rest in heaven however through the strength of God and with the compassion of the Holy Spirit I take my hands out of Reverend Angley hands and put my hands both in the hands of the Lord as I help the ministry go forward by continuing to live the Jesus life the way I was taught by my best friend, in spiritual father. My Hope Is that when the Rapture takes place in the future, Reverend Angley and I could share and ice cream together. Thank you for showing that true love comes from knowing Jesus. Thank you for showing that love to me everyday of your life that you lived for God.

  • I’m so thankful to God for the life and ministry of Rev. Ernest Angley. He was more than a pastor, he was my friend. Through his prayers, God delivered me from being abusive to my mother, and from committing suicide in the late 1990s. Again, I give praise to God and thank Him for Rev. Ernest Angley.

    “On Heaven’s bright shore

  • Dear Rev. Ernest Angley, I thought I was a Christian and saved until I stumbled on one of your YouTube preaching videos. I was just doing the best I can and thought that was good enough for heaven. I was deceived. I said the sinner prayer and became your partner. It’s been 5 years now. I let go of all wilful sin and believed for the first time that a person can live free from all sin and that a person must be holy, without sin in order to enter the kingdom of heaven. Reverend, the Lord led me to you because there were things happening in my life I couldn’t understand. I used to see glorious stars and still seeing them beaming in my apartment brighter than any white anyone has ever seen. I learnt from you that represents souls. It means that a person is called. I also see the anointing come upon me and overshadow my eyes. I learnt from you what that means. On the 27 of November 2020, the same night I partook of the Holy Communion, I heard a voice that spoke to me in regards to my life. Earlier that day after taking Holy Communion, I had diligently sought God and He spoke to me. I have read most of the books you wrote and taken the Bible study. I keep growing spiritually. Reverend Ernest Angley, you planted, Rev. Machamer and Rev. Millar are watering and God will continue to give the increase. Reverend Ernest Angley, Thank you for your lifetime of service. We will see you soon…

I appreciate all the times that you have been there for my family and I.  Because of your teachings, I have family waiting for me in Heaven.  Thank you for teaching me how to pray, fast and live in God’s Holy Word. Ever since I was a little girl, I was always searching for truth. And I am so grateful that I found through your Holy Ghost teachings. I will see you again. In the mean time, I send you a big hug. Thank you for being the best spiritual daddy. I love you!

I loved hearing you preach and seeing the nine-gifts of the spirit working through you. Such an anointing, excitement and on fire for God you had. I had the honor of attending Grace Cathedral campmeetings and meeting you in person. My life has been so very blessed by this Man of God, Reverend Ernest Angley, and this Jesus Ministry. Thank-You for preaching the gospel. The millions and millions of souls you have won to Christ. I had hoped that you would still be here preaching until the rapture took place. • I’ve sat under Reverend Angley’s teachings since I was 2 years old.  I have so much to be grateful for. His teaching of the whole word of God, his love and the many miracles he prayed down on Dave and myself.  We both would be crippled in body today without his prayers.  He will be missed but so happy he is safely in heaven. It will be exciting to see him again one day.
