You Must Use the Peace of God
by Ernest Angley
June 2007
God wants to give His children divine, miraculous peace. But it isn’t enough just to have peace; you must use it. The peace of God is like the love and the faith of God in that if you don’t use them they won’t do you any good. God gives you peace to use, but too many of God’s people have only a little peace at a time.
Jesus used the peace He brought. Imagine what it must have been like for Him to come into this world of turmoil after being in Heaven with His Father trillions of years and more! Nevertheless, Jesus came bringing peace, love, faith and other divine attributes that He used to make abundant life for all who would accept them. How sad that such a few Christians have really come into that abundant life from Heaven through Jesus Christ! Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).
Keep Your Mind Stayed on the Lord
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3). Trusting in the Lord isn’t something only to talk about and not do. If you’re going to have peace, your mind must be stayed on the things of God—His love, His faith, His greatness, and promises. When your mind is occupied with God, it isn’t occupied with fear, and God can keep you in perfect peace.
How much do you keep your mind stayed on the Lord? How many things occupy your mind and take it away from God? When you don’t have peace, when you don’t feel His peace and are not living in peace, your mind is not stayed on the Lord; it’s divided among various things. Remember that Jesus is your peace.
Made Nigh
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13). Being made nigh unto Him brings the peace of God to you. What are you going to do with that peace? Are you going to use it? How much peace you have depends on how much peace you use.
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us (Ephesians 2:14). There once was a wall between man and God. The people shut outside didn’t have peace. In the Tabernacle a veil separated the Most Holy Place from the Holy Place, and only the High Priest could enter once a year to make atonement for sins. On the Day of Atonement the people, no doubt, had more peace than on any other day, but still it wasn’t lasting; they couldn’t hold on to it.
Jesus tore down the wall of partition between man and God, and now it’s Whosoever will, let him come to the Lord and have peace!
If you want peace, you have to accept Jesus Christ and live the sinless life; for there is no real peace without Him. You’re not promised the peace of God unless you live free from all sin. If you are sinning just a little, your mind is on things other than God. It’s when you are born again and keep your mind stayed on God that you’re not going to sin. Jesus didn’t sin. Jesus did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth (I Peter 2:22).
Jesus, the Prince of Peace
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end (Isaiah 9:6,7). The peace of Jesus will have no end; He brings all the peace you could ever use, peace all the time, love all the time, faith and abundant living all the time. Jesus is our peace, our Prince of Peace. He is our big brother of peace, our Savior, Redeemer of peace. Are you living a life of peace in Him?
Some of you let the problems of life wipe out the peace of Heaven in your spirit. You let your children, your work, your troubles steal your peace in God. The peace of God is stronger than any problem that confronts you; but I say again, you must use it as you keep your mind stayed on the Lord. Through the Holy Spirit you can do it.
Why not be happy? You’re supposed to rejoice always; however, you’re not going to rejoice if you don’t have peace. When Jesus, the Prince of Peace, comes, there will be no end to peace—that’s God’s promise. Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory (I Peter 1:8). Do you have that rejoicing, that peace? Without peace you aren’t a good example before the Lord of a rejoicing Christian.
Paul Taught the Peace of Living Sin-Free
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you (Philippians 4:9). Paul said that if we do the things he taught us, the God of peace would be with us. Just what did Paul teach? He taught blood salvation, sanctification, holiness, righteousness and living free from all sin. If Paul gave us nothing but the sixth chapter of Romans, it would be more than enough to let us know we are to be without sin. However, he gave us much more. The things Paul taught he learned from the Lord through the Holy Ghost.
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). Not by works are you justified, but by faith. With salvation that comes by faith, you have a divine peace stronger than all the money in the world, stronger than any influence of the human race, stronger than anything on Earth—peace, God’s peace. Strength, overcoming power come from God’s peace. Peace gives power to defeat every devil, to trample devils underfoot and to yield to the Gospel.
To have the peace of God you live free from all sin. The peace of God will not mix with sin, nor will sin mix with the love and faith of God. You must be born new in Christ Jesus to have this peace. Remember that God’s faith is willed to His children along with love and peace.
Why Live a Troubled Life?
Why should you let your house be troubled? Why fret and stew about this, that and the other?
Preacher, you don’t know what I’m going through!
Maybe not, but I know who can help you, and His name is Jesus. He is your peace, your love, your grace and favor with God. Peace when you lie down, peace when you get up, peace at work, peace while you sleep is offered you in Christ. Being justified in the eyes of God, sanctified and made holy should bring peace to each and everyone. Do you doubt God and still expect to have peace? It won’t happen. To doubt your salvation, your walk to Heaven, to doubt the Rapture, to doubt God robs you of peace.
Peace Flowing Like a Mighty River
How much peace do you have when you think about the Rapture? How much peace when you think about being changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye? How much peace do you have with your salvation, with the love of God that lives on the inside of you? Does God dwelling within give you peace? It should, no matter the storm. He loves you; He loves you.
The peace of Heaven is being poured out like mighty rivers to us. Are we going to pour peace, love and faith like mighty rivers to others? Jesus said, He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). In that living water is Heaven’s peace to flow forth from us to a lost and dying world.
Wear the Garment of Peace
Without peace you won’t have the joy of Heaven. Many Christians are sad today when they ought to be happy; they don’t have peace, and they go after the wrong things in search of that peace. All too often they let family and so-called friends destroy the peace that the love and faith of God seeks to bring.
Why be sad? Why be weak in peace? Why not wear the garment of peace and let the world see that you have it? We live in a time of fear; fear has covered our nation and all other nations. Perfect love, faith and peace dwell only in the lives of true children of God; when you’ve been born again, you have divine peace, but I say again, you must use it. Trusting God’s love and faith that He has for you brings peace like a river as well as happiness and joy unspeakable.
Let Peace Rule in Your Heart
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful (Colossians 3:15). Does peace rule in your heart, or is it fear and frustration? Does one disturbance and storm after another rule? Where are you and what do you have? Do you really have God’s faith and love? If not, then you don’t have peace. Peace settles you down to do the whole will of God, to follow hard after Him, to walk in His steps.
You don’t doubt Heaven when you have peace; you know one day you will be there, and you know while you are en route, God will supply your needs. He promised. Why do you worry because of what you don’t have? Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6). A trusting heart is a heart of peace. If you don’t have a heart of peace you don’t trust the Lord with all your heart. A trusting heart brings security.
Peace Comes with Thankfulness
Without peace, you will not be thankful; many days and weeks will pass you by filled with discouragement and unthankfulness. Without peace, it’s easy to doubt, easy for disappointments to come; but with peace, disappointments are temporary: They hit and they melt away. The peace of God is there all the time, giving you courage to walk the waters of life, to trust in the Lord with all your heart, leaning not to your own or to other people’s understanding.
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart (Psalm 37:4). Do you want peace? Then delight yourself in the Lord. Why be unhappy when you’re promised peace? Why be upset when you don’t have to be? Why be disturbed when the Lord is your God and wants to provide for you? Thank Him for all the greatness He has for you.
Go to Sleep in Peace
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8). How do you lie down at night? Is it always in peace? In peace is the only way you should lie down; stay up until you can get it. Why lie down in doubt, fear, frustration and toss half the night through? In the morning you wonder why you hadn’t rested well. The Lord didn’t promise you would rest well if you didn’t trust Him for His peace. It’s a must to use His peace.
Do you walk the floor upset, not knowing what you’re going to do? Every child of God should know what he or she is going to do—trust God and have peace.
The spiritual storms of life can get right through to you and wipe all the peace out of your mind until fear takes over inside like a wild animal. You don’t want the storms of nature to come into your house; you feel you’re secure. No matter how many spiritual storms rage, don’t let them settle in either.
Peace Brings Strength from Heaven
The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace (Psalm 29:11). Peace brings strength from Heaven. Why struggle along in weakness without peace? When you use His peace it holds you up, supports you.
How much peace do you have? Do you have all you need? If not, what are you doing about it? How much do you use the peace of God? How much do you worry and fret? The enemy will torment you if you let him. But Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). You can’t be afraid, full of fear, and still be full of peace.
Jesus Calmed the Storm
When the disciples were with Jesus they had to learn the hard way that by trusting in Him, His power and love, they had nothing to fear; they had peace in time of storm. In a little boat one day tossed on a wild sea, Jesus arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39). The powers of nature had to obey—and that means every other power has to obey Him as well.
Jesus came to calm your storms and help you walk the angry seas of life. No matter how high the waves, as long as you trust in Him with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, acknowledge Him in all your ways, the Lord will sustain you. It’s just that simple.
Christ Is Our Everything
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). Be careful for nothing; in other words, don’t worry about anything. Why say you’re trusting God and then worry? To worry is not showing the greatness of God in your life; others can’t see that you’re using the strength of God, or that you have faith in Him.
Christ is our peace, our happiness, joy and strength. Christ is our high tower, our love, our faith; He is our everything. There is no lack in Him; He is our ever-present supply. He promised: Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:20). Why have Him with you and yet doubt that He is there? He promised to be with you. He should be just as real to you as He was to people when He was here on Earth. Although the disciples wouldn’t let Him be real to them all the time before Pentecost, after Pentecost they always knew He was with them. They stopped doubting and did a wonderful work.
Peace Is a Fruit of the Spirit
Stop doubting, stop being afraid. Let the Lord keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus, as you dine on the fruits of the Spirit. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22,23). The fruit of the Spirit gives strength.
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:4-7). Many do not live by this wonderful promise, do not accept the peace of God that passes all understanding. If you live the way God wants and please Him, then you live by the promises He made. The just shall live by promise.
Think on These Things
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8). Keep your mind on six things: what is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of a good report. Believe God; trust in Him with all your heart and not your own understanding. Put Him first in all your ways, for then you will have holy ways, and God can do whatever needs to be done for you. Walk with Him all the time, not part-time; trust Him all the time, then you will be everything He wants you to be. He promised to never leave or forsake you when you live by faith. The faith of God will not sink; faith will keep your head above water all the time; faith will take you to Heaven.
Saved by Grace
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). How wonderful it is to trust in the grace and the peace of God! Saved by grace, you will dwell in the peace of God for all eternity; why not dwell in peace while you’re here on Earth? On this journey, why not trust Him? Why not believe in Him? Why worry and fret? God’s people are not supposed to worry—worry is for those without God. My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Believing God Brings Peace
Fear is not our heritage; we are not supposed to be afraid. Fear not, the Lord said. Use peace! But some of you let your family or others around you rob you of peace. You let the devil and his demons rob you. Why would you do it? You know the devil is a robber, a liar; the truth is not in him. Why lean to him ever? Why not believe God? Believing God brings peace; you can’t believe God one hundred percent and not have peace. But if you don’t trust Him all the time, you don’t have peace all the time. You are at fault, for there is plenty of peace offered you on this journey.
What are you afraid of? You are not meant to be afraid. You shouldn’t be afraid of not getting to Heaven if you’re living right, trusting the Lord thy God, trusting in Calvary, in the redemption Jesus paid for. Trust in the Father who sent His Son to deliver you. Trust in the love and goodness of God. Trust in His Word and His power. You hold your future of faith, love and trust in your hands; now let His peace flow to you like a river—peace, divine peace.
Some people worry themselves to death if their children or other family members are not doing right. Put them under the divine blood. The Lord has promised to look out for you. He’s the one who’s building a heavenly mansion just for you, and He promised to supply your needs while you’re still here on Earth. Don’t you believe He’s rich enough to supply all your needs? Why not count yourself in His grace? His grace will never fail you.
As you journey on to Heaven, you can have everlasting, eternal peace just as though you were already there. You will reach it one day if you are born again; the faith of God lets you know you will.
The Lord has given you divine faith, divine love, divine peace and all the other good fruit for your journey. Strength for each minute comes from Him. It’s wonderful what God has for His children; they are special to Him. Let Him be special to you; let Him be everything to you. Trust in Him, look to Him for all your needs.
Honor God’s Promises
Never pray in doubt, and don’t live in doubt. Don’t breathe doubt and failure, but breathe Heaven’s power, strength and greatness. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13). You can do all things: You can live holy; you can be free from all sin, all unrighteousness. You can live in the promises of God. Life is in the hands of God that leadeth you by His great power. He leadeth me (Psalm 23:2). You have nothing to fear, nothing to worry about. The New Testament pulses with fear not; let not your heart be afraid! Fear will come; if it’s temporary, you’re all right; but if you are possessed by it, you will be tortured day after day. If you get to Heaven after living a life of fear, you will realize what a mistake you made by not taking God at His Word.
Every promise in the Book is yours, as the song goes, every chapter, every verse, every line. Honor God’s every promise; take them and live with them daily. Treasure those promises. As a child of God you have the privilege of using all God’s promises of love and support, the privilege of claiming every promise. If you use His promises you will go right on through life victoriously with the joy of the Lord and the peace of God as your strength. When you have peace you have joy, and when you have joy you have strength.
Listen to What the Spirit Is Saying
It’s time to travel on, time to move. It’s time to listen to what the Spirit is saying. If you aren’t hearing what the Spirit is saying, you don’t have the right ears. Jesus said, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches (Revelation 2:29). Take heed to what the Spirit is saying, not man. Let God’s Word be your guide. By God’s mighty hand and power, by His mighty promises, the Spirit is seeking to lead you. We’re on the way to Heaven right now, and I’m going to enjoy the trip all the way; what about you?
The more you praise and bless God, the closer you will walk with Him. Determine daily that nothing can separate you from His great love, His great peace. You have it but, remember, you have to use it. It’s like money; you can starve to death if you don’t use it. If you don’t use peace you can become a nervous wreck.
You make your world of peace by taking the Lord’s peace. God’s peace doesn’t come from others; you have to get it from Heaven day and night. Any time you feel the need of more peace, just order it up and have it sent down at once. Only believe, Jesus said.
Only believe and faith will work for you. It will work for you who are sick and afflicted; it will work to bring you to Calvary if you are unsaved; you can have all of this. We have a lot of peace and joy in this ministry and we’re taking the Gospel of salvation and peace to the whole world in this final hour.
Salvation and Healing Prayers
If you don’t have peace in your soul and you need Jesus, say the sinners’ prayer with me. Oh, God, I am lost! I am so sorry that I sinned against you, but I have come home. I’m going to serve you, Lord, the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins, all of them! Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, He has come into your heart. Praise the Lord, He is yours! It’s wonderful to know you belong to the Lord and that His peace and love are yours to use! Read your Bible, pray, fast and go on to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Be ready when Jesus comes for His Bride.
Again and again I say, I’m not the healer, Jesus is. I’m just a believer in the promises of healing in the Word of God. With His blood stripes you can have healing today. If healing is your need or the need of your child, let me pray with you now:
Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you. Lay a healing hand on those with cancer, heart trouble, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, those who are crippled, paralyzed, deformed or who are stricken with any kind of disease or affliction. Lord, many times you have healed people with these conditions; nothing is too hard for you. We know you will heal again; you are our Lord and Master. Heal! in the all-powerful, all-mighty name of Jesus! And with His blood stripes He brings healing.
Let His power work in your body as you give total obedience to the Lord without doubt or fear. Walk hand-in-hand with the nail-riven hand and watch you or yours get well. He promised, and He keeps His promises.
God is here; feel Him now and know He is nigh unto you. He wants to be real to you day and night. This is your hour of visitation, your hour of revelation; only believe and receive. Open wide and let the Holy Spirit flow His anointing to your innermost being and take the peace, faith and love that you need.
