Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). What does this scripture mean? It means that since Jesus performed miracles and healings when He walked the earth, He brings miracles and healings for mankind today and will continue to do so. He wrought great miracles then and He will do them now, for He is the miracle-working Christ for all time and eternity. Never fear to reach out for your God in faith believing; you will find Him when you seek Him with your whole heart. He sees every tear, He hears each cry, He feels your very heartbeat—He always has and He always will, so long as you do not separate yourself from Him with sin. For I am the LORD, I CHANGE NOT (Malachi 3:6). Man and his ideas change constantly, but not the healing God.

God made man in His own image; man was to be God’s joy and delight. The best of everything belonged to man in the Garden of Eden. No insanity was present pounding the brain to pieces, no disease draining the very life out of man. God had made man perfect in every way, anointing that clay with such strength that man need never be sick. That anointing is still here today for man to use. Suffering, sickness and disease are NOT God’s divine will. The Bible tells us that ALL GOOD THINGS COME FROM GOD. Sickness and disease came only after man had sold out in the Garden of Eden. Although God had not changed, man had. God created man to be a free moral agent with the ability to choose between good and evil. Much was lost in the fall of man, but not free choice. Today man has as much liberty to choose as had Adam and Eve when they decided to listen to Satan. Separated from their God by that one sin of disobedience, they were turned out of the Garden of Eden without their protection from hardship and disease. Man has lived ever since with the results of that choice. You today have the same choice: believe God or doubt Him. You can take God with you every day of your life, or you can reject Him completely. Invite God to walk with you and He will be there, or turn your back to Him and He will allow you to do as you please. But for eternity there are only two places to dwell: Heaven or hell. After death no second chance is offered. Jesus told those who would not repent that they would perish. The miracles of Jesus do not change nor do the judgments of God.

Time Does Not Affect God’s Word

The fall of man in Eden brought about death, hardship and suffering. An animal was killed that man might be clothed; later, men learned how to kill each other. The Lord told Eve that she would suffer. In sorrow thou shalt bring forth children (Genesis 3:16). Imagine the suffering she and Adam experienced when they discovered that one of their sons was slain by the hand of the other! Adam learned that cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life (verse 17). Since then man’s lot has been one of toil and hardship, but God provided a way out. It was to come from the seed of woman. In Genesis 3:15 we read that God warned Satan it [the seed of woman] shall bruise thy head. Jesus is that seed which came to seek and to save all that was lost in the Garden of Eden, and that includes good health. So far back as the book of Genesis we read that God healed man. So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants (Genesis 20:17). God also laid a healing hand on Sarah. In those days it was a great disgrace not to have a son, and Sarah was barren. At ninety years of age, however, Sarah was healed and, in her old age, gave birth to Isaac.

Although God had told Abraham his seed would go into the Egyptians’ bondage, He also promised they would be delivered. Over four hundred years they looked for deliverance to come. Time does not affect God’s promises; what He says He will do, He will do. You can doubt, fear and back away; but God will perform. God speaks and what He says comes to pass because He is God. Approximately three million Israelites, slaves of Pharaoh, miraculously came out of Egypt. Josephus tells us that by working in the slime pits the Israelites had worn their fingers down to stubs, but Psalm 105 records that when the Lord brought them out of Egypt there was not a feeble one among them. God had healed every one of them. In Exodus 15:26 we find a covenant the Lord made with the Israelites: If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight…I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD the healeth thee. The Lord also promised to keep sickness from their door if they kept His commandments.

The Brass Serpent

The book of Numbers tells the story of the serpent of brass. Because the Israelites had grumbled, complained and failed God, He sent fiery snakes among them. A bite from one of those snakes caused death. Great fear and distress fell upon the Israelites as death took her grim toll. The Israelites had spoken against God, but in the face of death they cried out to Him. How sad that people wait until all is lost before they turn to Almighty God! It’s frightening to enter that darkness from which there is no return, alone and without God.

The Israelites came to Moses, Pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us (Numbers 21:7), they begged. Moses did cry out to the Lord for them, and the Lord told Moses to do an unusual thing: Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live (verse 8).

The Israelites, swollen in face and body, could barely see, but those who looked were healed. Remember, the Israelites were dying by the hundreds; and in order to live, they only had to look—a life for a look. Look to Calvary and salvation can be yours; look to Calvary for your healing—it is promised to you. The Israelites were healed by looking to the cross. The choice is yours: look at the disease in your body and watch it grow worse, or look to the Lord and be delivered. A figure on a pole…God used it to bring healing to the Israelites; it is a type of Jesus hanging on the cross many years later. Just as the Israelites brought life by their steadfast look to the type of Christ on the pole, our steadfast look to the real Christ at Calvary brings life to us.

The things of God are beyond the understanding of man; in order to believe the Bible, you must have the faith of God. Man’s logic will not accept things that cannot be explained, and man’s logic will never be able to explain God and His works. Those who claim to believe in God and in the Bible, yet doubt divine healing, are contradicting themselves. Believing in the Bible means believing all it teaches in both Old and New Testaments.

The Bible teaches divine healing for yesterday, today and forever. If you do not believe in the healing power of God today, you simply do not believe in the Bible. Down through the ages and into our day, God has healed and is healing mankind.

Miriam, the sister of Moses, suddenly developed leprosy. Why? Because she had gossiped and talked against Moses. Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us (Numbers 12:2)? Miriam was just plain jealous. The anger of the Lord kindled against her, and she became leprous, as white as snow. It certainly must have been evident to Miriam then whose prayers were effective, for she welcomed Moses’ prayer that brought with it deliverance from God.

Confusion over Priorities

In Elijah and Elisha’s day, God healed. Naaman, captain of the host of the Syrian king, came to Elisha for healing. He had decided in his mind how the man of God would bring it about. He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper (II Kings 5:11). But Elisha did not go out; rather he sent a messenger with instructions for Naaman to wash in Jordan seven times. Naaman went away in a rage, snorting that he knew a lot of other rivers that were cleaner than Jordan. Naaman’s high position was not recognized; it hurt his pride. Sometimes we miss our healing because of confusion over priorities. Naaman had to decide whether the most important matter was his vanity or his healing. Healing won out. He listened to the good advice of one of his servants and dipped in Jordan seven times. When he came out of the waters, his flesh was clean, like the flesh of a little child.

If you come to the Lord to obtain man’s recognition, you may be disappointed; but if you come to Him for healing, He will serve you. God is the healer. I lay hands on the sick through the power of the Holy Ghost, and the Lord brings deliverance. I have nothing to do with it.

There are those who feel serious diseases must be dealt with in a complicated manner; the fact that healing can take place through something so simple as faith is a stumbling block. Faith created the universe, faith spoke it into existence. God used His faith to make man, and faith in God’s love and healing power brings deliverance. It takes faith to bring about the great works of God; He works only through faith.

God has put healing in nature and given man the knowledge to use it. Medical science is limited; and when it falls short God is able to do the rest. Many doctors depend upon God; it’s God’s will for man to help man whenever possible. However, when trust is put only in medicine and not in God, then God is limited. King Asa prevented God from moving for him in this way: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians. And Asa…died (II Chronicles 16:12,13). Leaving God out of the solution causes trouble. I repeat, God is not opposed to man’s using medicine or consulting physicians; they all are intended for our well-being. If you need to visit a doctor it is ridiculous not to. Don’t be lopsided about divine healing in the manner of those who consider visiting a doctor a sin or, at best, lack of faith. Understand divine healing in the light of the Scripture. All healing comes from God.

Healing for Soul and Body

Bless the LORD, O my soul…Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; WHO HEALETH ALL THY DISEASES (Psalm 103:2,3). Why believe that God forgives sin, but not that He heals? The Psalmist makes it clear that God forgives all sin as well as heals all disease. Isaiah supports this in Isaiah 53 when, in talking about Jesus, he says: He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and WITH HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED (Isaiah 53:5). Everywhere He went, Jesus healed. Physical healing was made possible for us by Jesus at the whipping post, and through Jesus’ shed blood we have forgiveness of sin. It is inconsistent, illogical and incorrect to believe God will save your soul but not heal your body. He promised in His Word to do both; Jesus died on the Cross that you might find BOTH SALVATION AND PHYSICAL HEALING.

When Christ was on Earth He did not heal all manner of people, He healed all manner of diseases. The blind received their sight, the deaf heard, the crippled walked and the sick were made well—God healed. Lepers were not only healed by Jesus, but He also reminded people of the leper healed in Elisha’s day. It was an especially horrifying thing to be a leper in Bible times; they were shunned, stoned and isolated from society. But a leper boldly walked up to Jesus saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed (Matthew 8:2,3). Christ met a woman who had been bent over for eighteen years, unable to raise herself up. Jesus healed her; and when the ruler of the synagogue challenged healing being done on the Sabbath, Jesus answered him, Ought not this woman…whom Satan hath bound…be loosed (Luke 13:16)? Jesus here makes it clear that the affliction came from Satan. God does not bring disease or infirmity upon people, but Satan does. Healing comes from God, and it is offered to all.

Power Given to Believers

Jesus gave power to the disciples and God healed the sick through them in the name of Jesus. In the sixteenth chapter of Mark this same power is promised to all believers, they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:18). After the day of Pentecost, Simon met a man at the Gate Beautiful who had never walked. Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk (Acts 3:6). Immediately receiving strength in his feet and ankle bones, the man entered the temple walking, leaping and praising God.

Paul was an amazing vessel for God’s healing power. And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them (Acts 19:11,12). The sick were healed when they came in contact with those anointed cloths. The cloths weren’t the healers, the anointing of God brought about healing.

In James’ writing we are told what to do when sickness comes. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the PRAYER OF FAITH SHALL SAVE THE SICK, and the Lord shall raise him up (James 5:14,15).

Either you believe that the prayer of faith saves the sick, or you do not believe the Bible. Pray one for another, that ye may be healed (James 5:16). You can be healed while praying for someone else—it happened to Job when he was so very ill with deadly sores. And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends (Job 42:10).

The Bible says that if two will agree on any one thing touching Heaven—agree in the faith, in the love and the power of God—it shall be done. Either God answers prayer or He does not; you must decide in your heart which way you believe. If you waver, James tells us, you needn’t expect to receive from God.

There are many ways God answers prayers. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible is filled with divine healing. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. He healed me and I have seen Him heal literally thousands of people of all manner of sickness and disease. Miracles are in abundance today and you can be healed. Cancer and all other diseases incurable to man can be rendered helpless and void by the power of God, and the results can be medically verified. Miracles are real. These Bible promises of healing are yours to claim.

Once Again God Is Mighty in the Land

Come boldly into His presence; you are being drawn nigh to Him by His Holy Spirit. His love is upon you greater than you realize. The enemy tries to make you feel separated from your God; but if you are His child, you are bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh. Do not be confused because man has failed to teach you about divine healing. In the past there have been many periods where fundamental truths of the Bible have not been taught, but then God raised up those anointed by the Holy Spirit who made the breakthroughs, teaching and preaching what had been overlooked. God has raised up prophets to stand in the gap and fill in the hedge during the dark hours when people strayed from the truth. As these prophets declared the whole Word of God, God began to move; and His arm became mighty in the land.

Once again, God is mighty in the land. In our day His power and glory are being revealed on a greater scale than ever before. For you who dare to believe the Bible, who dare to look to God, there is deliverance. Decide in your heart and mind that you will be healed. After the healing you may have pain and false symptoms, but let nothing hinder your claiming the promise of God.

With an Eye of Faith, See Your Deliverance

Jonah in the belly of the whale said, They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy (Jonah 2:8). Lying vanities are deceiving spirits. Out of the belly of hell Jonah cried to the Lord; when his soul fainted he remembered the Lord and gave Him praise in faith for his deliverance before it came. Although the seaweed was wrapped around his head, Jonah praised God just as though he already were on land. Soon the whale spewed him out.

With God’s eye of faith, see the deliverance and the blessings of God. God is a faith God and you must use faith to contact Him. The faith of man rebels; it is not enough: You need the faith of God. Never doubt God no matter what anyone may say; let the living Word of God be your foundation. Speak and think the things of God. So long as you think sickness, fear, doubt and frustration, you will be possessed by those things. Decide that God loves you, He will deliver you and you will get well. Determine that the foul disease eating your life out cannot stand before the power of God. When you make up your mind completely to be healed because God has promised it in His Word, because His Son died for your deliverance, then that deliverance is yours. God’s Bible is real, you can be set free. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.
