Why listen to the devil? More people listen to the devil than listen to God.

Jesus directed the following words to the Sadducees, the Pharisees, the scornful, the mockers: Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him (John 8:44). Notice: Jesus said the devil abode not in the truth; there’s absolutely no truth in him. Why believe the devil, in whom is no truth? Why believe a lie instead of the truth? It’s dangerous to believe even one lie of the devil. The Bible warns that upon those who won’t accept the truth, the Lord will send strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (II Thessalonians 2:11,12).

Since no truth exists in the devil, why believe the stories he brings to your mind to discourage, to torment you, to make you think the Lord doesn’t love you, doesn’t care for you, to make you think you’re a worthless nothing? When you accept the fact that there is no truth about the devil, then he won’t be able to worry your mind.

John 10:10, The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. Jesus refers to the devil as a thief. For what purpose is this thief come? The Lord said he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Do you listen to the devil, let him tell you half-truths or all-out lies? Do you believe him? Know him for the evil one he is.

Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). That’s the voice you should listen to, the one to let talk to you.

A Voice of Death

The devil’s voice is a voice of torment, agony, darkness, weakness, lies and deceit, a voice of death. Shut out that voice; don’t listen to the devil. If you listen, he’ll tell you that you’d get along better if you didn’t read the Word and pray so much, that there’s no need to fast, that you feel better when you don’t fast. He’ll do everything to fight you, to get your attention. Any kind of lie he can get you to believe, any kind of deceit he can spew into your ears and into your mind he will tell you in order to get your mind off of truth.

Know the Truth

Jesus said, Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). If the devil can keep people from the truth, he can keep them in bondage; but Jesus came to set the captives free. When God created man, the devil had absolutely no power over him, and the Lord didn’t intend for the devil to have any power over him. In the beginning, the devil could not make Adam or Eve do anything. As a child of God today with divine blood in your soul, you must know that the devil has no power to make you do anything either. You have to allow him, give over to him, believe the devil’s lies, his deceit in order for him to get anywhere with you.

The reason the devil was able to deceive Eve was that she began to listen to him. Born-again Christians get into big trouble listening to the devil. Some complain, Oh, I’m in such a wretched condition! The devil told me I wasn’t saved! That’s a most ridiculous statement to make, Child of God. Since you recognize it’s the devil, why would you believe him? Why would you believe the devil in spite of the fact that the Lord said the truth wasn’t in him, he can’t tell the truth?

The devil never tells the truth, and yet he manages to push some children of God beyond measure with despair. Despair doesn’t come from Heaven. No, despair comes from the devil. There will be no despair in Heaven, no oppression or depression. Jesus, full of the Holy Ghost, went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38). Jesus healed those who were oppressed of the devil; they were not oppressed by God, not by His heavenly Father.

The Father of Lies

Jesus identified the devil correctly when He said the devil is the father of lies. When he [the devil] speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it (John 8:44). This is straight talk from the Man of Galilee, the man called Jesus, our Savior, our Redeemer. The Lord recognized the devil and all his ways. Jesus knew the devil before he was cast out of Heaven. If anyone ever walked the earth knowing the devil, it was Jesus Christ. Uncovering the devil, Jesus described him as a thief, a robber, a murderer. Why would anyone listen to such a degraded personality?

You, as a child of God with the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ shining upon you, can let darkness come into your mind to sap your peace and joy, take it right out of you. The light of God will never take the peace and love of God out of your mind; it’s the devil who seeks daily to do that, to serve you hatred. Jesus came, remember, to give you abundant life and to serve you love, love, love.

Into hearts and minds, the devil plants all kinds of seeds of deceit, every tiny particle of doubt he possibly can. He leeches the minds of people by dropping in those tiny spirits of deceit that overtake part of the mind so that people can’t think right, can’t pray like they once prayed, don’t really have their heart in fasting, no longer carry that zeal for God. The devil speaks every beguiling word he can; why listen to him?

You Are Not Your Own

When you give yourself to the Lord, the Bible says you’re not your own. You are the property of God, and the devil has no claim on God’s property. Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s (I Corinthians 6:19,20). The price of blood—not human blood, but divine blood—purchased your freedom, your liberty. Although you are free, the devil doesn’t want you to know it, and he’ll work and work to get you to take time to listen to just a little bit of what he has to say.

Be on Guard against Snake Talk

Sometimes the devil uses people to get his point over, people with snake talk, the devil’s talk; and you don’t realize that he’s the source. Just as the Holy Spirit uses God’s people, the devil uses people—anyone he can. Be on guard at all times; recognize serpent talk, that snake voice whether it’s coming through a human being or a demonic being. Just as important: You must recognize Holy Spirit talk through people; know His voice in your ear; it’s the same voice that was in Eden.

In Eden, Adam and Eve heard the voice of God, and that was the only voice they were to hear, the only voice they were to listen to. They never were meant to listen to the serpent voice. When you as a child of God give ear to the devil, he’ll put doubt in your mind that you can have what God’s Word offers you. If you listen to him, he’ll steal from you, rob you of the wonderful promises of God.

Don’t Be Robbed

Faith in God heals the sick. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Psalm 103:2,3). Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). The devil tries to rob you of every promise in God’s Word.

Remember how man fell: by listening to serpent talk. And you’ll fall, too, if you listen and begin to do the things the devil tells you to do. You’ll be robbed even if you keep going on with the Lord, robbed in your mind. Fighting oppression, depression, despair, you battle that spirit that says, The Lord doesn’t really love you; you’re not worthy of the blessings of God. You’ll never be able to make it to Heaven; you’ll never be ready for the Rapture; never, never, never. That is snake talk.

No Fire in Hell?

Eve was told lies until she finally surrendered to those lies. Listening to lies puts your soul at risk. All liars will be cast into the lake of fire along with the devil, the Bible tells us in the book of Revelation: All liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death (Revelation 21:8). And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever (Revelation 20:10).

Another lie of the devil: There’s no fire in hell. Many ministers preach the fire right out of hell; even some well-known evangelists preach that hell is merely a state of mind. That doctrine isn’t according to the Bible. Jesus said there was a rich man who died, lifted up his eyes in hell, and cried because he was tormented in the flames. There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame (Luke 16:19-24). Jesus said hell is where their worm [soul] dieth not, and the fire is not quenched (Mark 9:44).

Be not deceived. Many have been deceived by snake talk. Ministers who once preached hellfire and brimstone don’t preach it anymore. They give people a sugary little story. Oh, no, God won’t send judgment upon you. He wouldn’t cast you into a place like that! That’s snake talk, serpent talk. But hell is real, and once you’re there, you have no way out.

The devil gives you permission to do anything you want, to satisfy every lust of the flesh; that’s the reason so many people go with him. The devil delights if he can get you to tell a lie. He’ll say: That’s all right; you were in a close place. The Lord won’t hold that against you.

Only through the Blood Are Sins Forgiven

Do you want to bypass the blood of Jesus, bypass salvation and just sign a church card and be baptized in water? The devil will give you permission; in fact, he will encourage you. But the Bible says that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22). There’s no salvation, no Heaven, no deliverance from sin without the divine blood of Jesus applied to your soul.

Jesus brought divine, delivering blood; and yet many ministers don’t preach the blood. The blood of Jesus should be the theme of every child of God. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, to destroy sin and sickness, and He brought divine blood to do it. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:8).

Avoid the Devil’s Gambling Table

The devil gladly grants you permission to take part in all seventeen works of the flesh listed in Galatians. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19-21). Go ahead and do whatever you want to do, the devil encourages. Listening to that advice is a dangerous gamble, for you may never have a chance to get right with God.

If you’re at the devil’s gambling table today, you’re a loser. No one has ever won there but the devil. He’ll make you think you’re winning, Sinner, Backslider. He’ll make you think, Christian, that you can bypass a little of the strait and narrow road of the Lord, that you can drift to the left, edge off the road, detour, and still be all right. But that isn’t what the Lord tells you. The devil will do everything he can to get you to come to his gambling table. You’ll begin to commit a little sin here, a little sin there—what the devil calls “no harm” sins. After a while at the devil’s gambling table, you see the stakes grow higher and higher until your life is on the line; you’ve gambled with your very soul one time too many.

Why listen to the devil? He tells you that you’re winning when you’re losing. I say again, there are no winners in his gambling den but him. How many young boys and girls have already been destroyed because they went to the devil’s gambling table? They lost everything, their character, their good name; and finally they lost their soul in the devil’s hell, damned forever because they listened to one voice—the devil’s voice.

The Devil Appears as an Angel of Light

That voice, that awful voice the devil will disguise to try to make you think the Lord or an angel of the Lord is talking to you. The devil, appearing as an angel of light, fools many people. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works (II Corinthians 11:14,15). In order to recognize his deceit, you have to live mighty close to God, in His very presence. Jesus brought the new and living way in which we can be in the presence of the Lord and not listen to snake talk, to a voice that has no truth.

Oh, Child of God, why let the devil discourage you? Why let the devil make you depressed, taking the heart almost out of you? Why let him make you think you’re not getting anywhere with God, not doing any good, that you might as well stop going to church? Why listen to anything the devil is saying? Why believe him when he says you can’t have the wonderful peace from Heaven here on Earth that the Lord promised to you? Why? Why listen to a liar denying all the promises that Jesus brought, all His wonderful love and grace? Why let the devil talk you out of the graces of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ?

The nine fruits of the Spirit are nine wonderful graces: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts (Galatians 5:22-24). But when you listen to the devil, to that snake voice, you lose the fruits; you lose control of self and the anointing to pray, to fast, to be in the Word; without the anointing, you won’t be what God wants you to be.

Listen to What the Spirit Is Saying

Do you listen to the devil? Do you listen to such a voice, that voice Jesus warned you about? Do you let the devil talk to you at all? Jesus said to listen to what the Spirit is saying. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith (Revelation 2:7). Those ears He has given you, Child of God, are meant to hear the words of the Holy Spirit, not words of the devil.

Jesus tells us further in Revelation, be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death (Revelation 2:10,11). You have ears to hear, Jesus said; seven times in the book of Revelation He said to listen to what the Spirit is saying. Why let the devil take the very life out of you, that spiritual life, that spiritual greatness that the Lord has given to you? Remember how you felt when the Lord saved your soul? Free, free, free: You came up free from the altar of God. Yes, the Son of God had set you free, and you delighted in that liberty. But have you let the devil talk you out of some of it? Do you still have all that freedom?

When you first received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, you had victory over everything, such wonderful peace. You knew the power from On High was yours, and you prayed with power, worked with that power and helped others to become free. Then some of you let up on your prayer life, your fasting life, your time with God and His Word. Why did you let the enemy talk to you? Why did you listen to the devil? Jesus said, Come and dine. Why did you let the enemy talk you out of going to the Lord’s table? Why did you let him make you think that the table was not loaded for you with daily blessings from On High?

If you’re sick and afflicted and the devil is telling you you’ll never get well, why listen to him? Start listening to the voice that heals, the Jesus voice; you have ears to hear. Jesus told unbelievers the reason they didn’t understand what He was saying was that they wouldn’t accept truth. And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God (John 8:46,47). Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). As a child of God, you should be the happiest person in the world, for God’s truth and life are yours.

Separate from the World

The devil talks to a lot of people who once lived for God. They had left the world behind, left all drinking, all drugs; but then they listened to snake talk and some decided it was all right to take a social drink. What do you think started that man, woman, boy or girl on the road to alcoholism? The first drink. Had they not taken the first drink, they never would have become alcoholics. Had they never taken the first drug, they never would have become drug addicts. See how slyly the devil works? Many church members in this world, not accepting the truth, think it’s all right to drink.

Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (II Corinthians 6:17). Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him (I John 2:15). If you love the world, you don’t have the love of God.

Do you who have God’s love let the devil talk to you and worry you, instill misgivings? Do you let him speak doubt in your ears? Do you let him make you doubt God?

It was serpent talk that caused a whole civilization but eight souls to be destroyed in Noah’s day; serpent talk did it. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Genesis 6:5-8). The Noah family closed their ears to serpent talk; you can close your ears to that talk, too.

The Rainbow of Promise

Then God gave the rainbow of promise that the earth would never be destroyed by water again. God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth (Genesis 9:12-16). No one but God has ever been able to make a rainbow in the sky and keep it there.

A Tower Founded in Deceit

Mankind saw this great promise in the sky, and yet they doubted God. If only they had listened to God, the God who had saved the Noah family…but they listened to the devil, and such great fear took them over that they decided to build a tower to Heaven. They said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth (Genesis 11:4).

What ignorance to think people could build a tower all the way to Heaven! But it’s just as ignorant to think that people can get to Heaven without the blood, that they can be saved by good works alone. People actually thought they could build a tower that would reach to Heaven, for the devil had deceived them. They hadn’t reasoned the matter out with God. Doubting God and living in sin like they were, they wouldn’t have been accepted by God anyway. No, they could not reach Heaven, but the devil made them think they could. If you listen to the devil, he’ll have you doing all kinds of ridiculous things; the devil seeks to make an idiot out of every human being.

God’s Perfect Love Casts Out Fear

When you leave the devil, leave his kingdom and go into the Kingdom of the Lord, taking Jesus as your Master, all hell boils over and the devil comes after you. He sends his demons to talk to you every chance they get. They wake you up during the night, put fear in you and then say, Look how afraid you are; you couldn’t really be saved. Fear can hit you suddenly, but with the love of God it has to go, flushed right out of your mind through the love of God. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love (I John 4:18).

I ask again, Why listen to the devil? In searching the pages of God’s Holy Word, keep in mind that you can tune the devil out through the blood name of Jesus and the power of the Holy Ghost. Down through these thousands of years, many men, women, boys and girls have listened to the devil. Many of God’s people who listen to him don’t have to. He’ll tell you that you’re not going to get the miracle you need, that you’re going to die and God doesn’t care; He’s forgotten you. But God promised to never leave you or forsake you. He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5). If you’ll listen to what the Spirit is saying, you’ll know that the Lord is with you and that His love surrounds you. The blood shield is yours; you’re protected by the blood. The blood of Jesus is for you to use.

Perilous Times

Do you listen to the devil, a liar in whom is no truth? God wake us up—and that’s what the Lord is seeking to do, to wake up everyone to become a member of the bridal company in this final hour, to get all He can to be wide-awake to the deceit of the devil. The Bride is listening to the voice of her love, Jesus. Her heart is set upon that one love, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, as she looks for His coming.

The devil whispers, There isn’t going to be a Rapture. It’s been talked about for years and it hasn’t happened yet. But listen to what the Spirit is saying: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:3,4,8,9). People will tell you that the Lord is not coming, but they’re not telling the truth; they’re deceived if they think they are.

The world has never been in such an alarming condition as it’s in today; more and more evil abounds daily, not only in our nation, but all over the world. Great peril lurks everywhere. We never thought such tragic events would take place on our shores, but the Lord said in the last days dangerous times would come, and He meant everywhere. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come (II Timothy 3:1).

Sinner, Hurry Home!

You live in the last days, no matter what the enemy tells you. The coming of the Lord is nigh; don’t let the enemy talk you out of it. Backslider: Hurry home! Eternal darkness is about to settle on you. Sinner: Come to Jesus. Why listen to the devil telling you that you have plenty of time? Many people were told that lie again and again, and then they woke up screaming in eternal hell, a place where time doesn’t exist.

Sinner, Backslider, say this prayer right now: Oh, God, save my soul! Forgive me of my sins. You said if I would repent, if I would have godly sorrow, you would forgive me. And now I repent with godly sorrow. I’m so sorry, Lord; save my soul. And I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in, Jesus!

If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come; Jesus is yours.

God Is Ready to Heal You

You who are sick and afflicted, bound with a death disease, why listen to the enemy tell you that you can’t be healed, can’t have your miracle today? Why listen to the enemy when he whispers, You know what the doctors have told you: You can’t live. Why not, rather, listen to what the Spirit is saying? I am the LORD that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26). Listen to the voice of the Lord. He’s ready to heal you, ready to set you free.

You who have AIDS: God heals AIDS. Untold thousands have been healed of AIDS through this Jesus ministry. The testimonies keep coming in to let us know that people definitely have been healed of AIDS, and we thank God for it. It doesn’t matter what you have—it may be leprosy, TB, diabetes, cancer, heart trouble, or paralysis—but no case is too hard for our Lord.

Lord, I bring the people to you. You are the healer, Lord. I am your believer endowed with your supernatural gifts to bring healing to the people in the precious blood name of Jesus. Heal! in the name of Jesus. I curse those diseases; I curse them all. Heal! Heal! I put them all under the blood to be destroyed now in the name of the Lord.

Remember that divine blood is life, life, life. Get well and write to tell me about it. But you must live for the Lord; you must serve Him. The Lord doesn’t heal people so they can serve the devil. Why listen to the devil? The truth is in the blood-Word, the blood-promises of Lord God Almighty. Listen to Him and be made whole soul, mind and body in this last and final hour. Serve the Lord, and win souls for Jesus.
