When You Feel Confusion
by Ernest Angley
August 2007
You’re going to have moments when you feel confusion moving in. Why didn’t God answer your prayer; why this happened, why did that take place? How did it all come about? Why did it happen to you? When those clouds begin to close in on you, remember these things. Remember First Corinthians 14:33, For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. God hates confusion; it comes from the devil. Anything that comes from the devil, God hates.
Confusion does not come from God. It’s not the will of God for you to be confused, nor does He want you to be dismayed, worried or fretful. Confusion isn’t faith and faith isn’t confusion.
God wants you to have this kind of mind: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). Don’t give in to the spirit of fear; use the spirit of power, love and a sound mind. It’s not the will of the Lord for confusion to make you sad, to make your heart bleed. Don’t carry confusion around; don’t put up with it. Do you feel confusion closing in because something hasn’t happened the way you expected it to take place? Is life not acting the way you as a child of God think it should? Remember that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). If you’re in the divine will of God, things will work out for your good. If you’re not in the divine will of God, reach out for it; look to Christ as your example and follow in His footsteps.
Remember a Mind of Love
Remember, Jesus Himself prayed to the Father, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). Jesus had a mind of love; He didn’t have a mind that allowed fear to close in and cause confusion. Fear comes from the devil, but the overcoming power of love and greatness comes from God.
Remember God’s great love that He gave you when you found Calvary. You were just a sinner, lost and undone without God, and on the road to a devil’s hell. But the one who died for you, Jesus, in His great love forgave you of all your sins. Maybe you had sinned much against Him (for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God), and you needed Calvary.
Think about the great moment that you received salvation; ponder on Calvary’s marvelous love and the sacrifice Jesus made for you. He saved your soul, gave you a ticket for Heaven, delivered you and set you free from everlasting torment in hell.
Remember Joy Unspeakable
Jesus, whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory (I Peter 1:8). You found salvation, and with it you found so much joy that you can’t even speak it; it’s profound, mighty, heavenly, full of God’s glory. The glory of the Lord dispels confusion, despair, dismay and discouragement. It all has to go. I’m a happy child of God; I have that joy unspeakable—what about you? We can all have that joy. Don’t live beneath your privilege.
Isaiah 50:7, For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: I will not be confused for God will help me. Remember that God will help you; He has promised and He does not lie. Don’t go to sleep with confusion on your mind. Go to sleep in God’s love, in God’s grace, peace, goodness, and mercy; and you’ll be a different person when you wake. Live in the promises of God, think on the promises, sleep with them in your spirit.
Remember to Set Your Face Like Flint
Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed (Isaiah 50:7). Flint is a strong setting for the face, solid, immovable. Knowing the Lord will not fail you, you let no confusion come into your spirit. The devil, remember, is the author of confusion. Don’t let the devil’s work stay.
Born-again, you have the divine blood of Jesus inside to help you; yield to His Holy Spirit and be set free from confusion. But you have to remember that you have Him; you have to remember His promises, His love, His peace, His faith, and remember the greatness He offers you. Remember just what is offered to you and decide you will not be ashamed because your trust is in the Lord.
Remember to Count Your Blessings
Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above (Genesis 49:25).
Behold the greatness, the goodness of God. Remember the miracles and the healings He has given to you and yours. Remember how He has supplied your needs. Count your blessings one by one; what God hath done are the things to remember.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3). When you dwell on how good God has been to you, realize you have nothing to be confused or discouraged about. Be determined not to let the devil contaminate you with any confusion. Know that God is good all the time, that He is with you and will never leave you or forsake you. You have it made!
Remember, God Is a Present Help
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). The Lord is your present help in time of trouble, your High Tower. Walk with your head in the glory of the Lord and His promises knowing that He is walking with you. Lift up your head when you’re discouraged and see the hand of the Lord. How wonderful it is to know He is with you; He is there to help you! The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower (Psalm 18:2).
Remember, Fiery Trials Will Come
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy (I Peter 4:12,13). Have you ever experienced the fiery trials? When those fiery trials come your way, don’t let confusion come in. Remember this scripture when you wonder: Why has this happened? I never thought it would happen to me! How could such a thing be? Rejoice that you are a partaker of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed you can rejoice with exceeding joy.
Remember to Let the Holy Spirit Lift You Up
Remember that you’re living in the present; don’t go back to the past to relive its disappointments and sorrows. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him (Isaiah 59:19). Let the Holy Spirit lift you up to see beyond into the future, to see the blessings ahead. Look through the promises of God; He has promised deliverance for soul, mind, and body; and His promises bring strength. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head (Psalm 3:3). Rejoice! Don’t wait until everything is perfect to rejoice; rejoice because God is worthy!
Remember to Ask for Wisdom
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5). Ask for more wisdom when you feel confusion moving in. God, I need more wisdom; I need more knowledge. I need to know how not to give in to the devil’s attempt to put even a little confusion in me. I’m not going to put up with it! Ask of God and He will give you wisdom and knowledge, but you must be willing to use them. Don’t use your own way, use His way; use the way of the Lord.
Remember God’s Perfect Way
The way of the Lord is perfect; you can’t improve it. He offers you a perfect way. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6). I’ve used that scripture often down through the years. It has been a blessing to me. I remember the Word of God when troubles are brewing. I remember the Word of God when the devil is fighting the work of God. I remember the promises, the strength of God. I remember what God said He would do and what He has done for others in the past. Our God separated the waters of the Red Sea; He protected Daniel in the lions’ den, and the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace. He will protect and be with His children.
Jesus said, Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). I will never forsake you: I am yours and you are mine. What wonderful fellowship that is! How wonderful it is to walk hand-in-hand with the Lord!
I’m not in despair; I’m not defeated. Are you? I’m looking up, aren’t you looking up? I’m not confused; I know the way of the Lord is perfect, and I know I’m walking the way of the Lord. I’m on His path; I recognize the footsteps of Jesus, and I’m doing my best to be just like Him. Is He your example? Remember Jesus! Remember Jesus! He is our victory, our overcoming power, our everything.
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye (Psalm 32:8). The Lord will instruct you, teach you the right way, and direct you. You have nothing to fear, nothing to worry about. Follow ever after Him.
Remember the Power of the Holy Ghost
Remember the greatness of Eden. Remember the wonderful fruit of Eden, and remember the divine fruit that is yours today. Remember the power of the Holy Ghost, power from on High. Read in the Acts of the Apostles what that power first did when it came, when it poured out. That power is here, being poured out today as well. And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke (Acts 2:17-19).
Lord, we’re yours! No confusion will we accept. We’re following hard after you in prayers, fastings and living in the Word. Thank God for Jesus, for the power of the Holy Spirit that He is pouring out today! Thank God for the freedom and liberties that we have in Jesus Christ! Thank God for the joy we have in serving Him! Remember these things!
Remember, the Lord Will Sustain You
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119:165). Some people are easily offended at God. If God doesn’t do just what they think He should, they back away. No true child of God would ever dream of taking offence at their beloved Savior, Lord and Master! Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved (Psalm 55:22). Isn’t that a glorious promise! The devil can’t take you over, can’t destroy you when you’re in the hands of God. The Lord is your shield of protection, your blood-love shield. He is yours! The armor of God belongs to you. Wear it daily. Don’t accept, I say again, any confusion at all from the enemy.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength (Isaiah 40:29). When you feel faint, have no strength, no might, the Lord will do wonders for you; He’ll give you power. He is the cure.
Remember to Be Quiet in His Spirit
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left (Isaiah 30:21). We have the Holy Spirit to tell us the way to go. He is forever there to teach us, to help us with all burdens. The Lord promised us the voice from on High, that lovely, heavenly voice to direct us. Listen for it. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth (Psalm 46:10). Study to be quiet (I Thessalonians 4:11). Be quiet in His Spirit; understand what the Holy Spirit is telling you and remember it.
Call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee (II Timothy 1:5). Call to remembrance that the Lord has given you a mind of power, a mind of love. He has given you a sober mind like Jesus had when He was here on Earth. That kind of mind can call to remembrance the greatness of God in the Word of God and the greatness of God in your life.
Remember to Only Believe
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6,7). Be careful, anxious, for nothing. The Lord has taught His children not to worry but to believe. The Son of God came down saying again and again, Only believe! The Lord is still saying to His people today, Only believe! Just believe Him, that’s all you have to do. It’s so simple even a child can do it. Let your requests be known unto God with thanksgiving: It’s an open invitation. Tell God what you need, what you want Him to do.
If you don’t understand, let the Lord know that you really don’t need to understand as long as you can hold His hand. I’ve walked with God that way often, not understanding at the time, but I knew God was holding my hand and I was holding on to Him. As long as you have your hand in His, thank God. Take on that wonderful strength from the Spirit of the Living God, from His wonderful power, and you’ll be able to journey on. You don’t have to see everything ahead of time; you just have to trust God. Faith shows the way; faith gives full assurance and talks with a beautiful love language letting you know everything will be all right because you have the hand of the Lord moving, working for you, serving you His greatness.
Remember the Peace of God
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). No confusion exists when Jesus keeps your heart and mind. With the eye of faith, go forth knowing everything will turn out God-right. That’s what I look for; I want all my life to be God-right. I travel in the divine will of God wherever He sends me, whatever I do, and then I see God-results. The services are successful because they are God-right and the Lord is pleased. Pleasing God is important. Enoch was taken to Heaven alive because he pleased God. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God (Hebrews 11:5).
We desire to have everything God-right, not human-right. Human-right can turn into a disaster, but not God-right. God-right turns into the glory of Heaven.
Keep these scriptures in your heart; God moved on me to preach this to you. You need this on your journey; you can’t be confused about anything you think God should be doing, or should not be doing, or has done. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints (I Corinthians 14:33). God loves us; let nothing come between your soul and your Savior. You might have been in confusion at one time, but the Lord has brought you out and established your goings, set your feet on the solid Rock, Christ Jesus.
Remember to Go to the Rock
Receive what you need; your miracle is on the table of God. He will establish your goings day after day. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2). That’s our cry today: Lead me to Jesus! Don’t stay overwhelmed; God will comfort you in time of trouble. In time of need He will be your supply, your everything, your Lord and God.
It’s time to journey, time to move. The call of God is upon us and we must get this Gospel to the whole world in this final hour. We have no time for any works of the devil, for any confusion of the devil. We don’t have time to let the devil serve us because we’re too busy eating at the table of the Lord, and the Spirit is saying, Come and dine!
Remember His Works
When you remember the works of the Lord, the great miracles of God that He is performing all over the world, know that you, too, can have your miracle. Thousands of souls are coming to God each week through this outreach ministry. Remember what the Lord is doing right now! We’re bringing in the final harvest; Jesus is soon coming, but first we’re taking Him to the whole world. Knowing He is coming soon gives us strength to hurry on.
Lukewarm Christian, don’t you want your heart to be aflame with love for Him? Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth (Galatians 5:7)?
Oh, Sinner, don’t you want to get ready to meet the Lord? This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). Backslider, don’t you want to come back to Jesus?
Pray this prayer with me if you don’t have Jesus: Oh, God, save my soul! I’m so sorry I sinned against you! But I’ve come home, and I’m going to serve you, Lord, the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, now you can say, Hallelujah, Jesus is mine! My sins are all gone! I’ve found Calvary and I have victory. I’m free!
Remember That God Heals
You who are ready to be healed, ready to be delivered, let me pray for you. You may have AIDS or the AIDS virus. It may be a stroke; you may have been bedfast for years. People in that condition have been healed and are being healed through this Jesus ministry. People who have been blind for years are receiving the miracle of sight. Cancer victims, diabetes sufferers, people with lung or heart trouble have been healed. No case is too hard for the Lord. Little deformed children are being healed. Children born with just part of a brain are given a whole brain through the power of God. Man can’t do these things, only the Lord.
Lord, in obedience to you, I bring the people into your presence. I’m believing God with them for their healing. Heal! Heal! I curse those foul diseases through the blood of Jesus, destroying them and casting them from their bodies in the name of the Lord! Heal the little ones and make them whole in the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Write and let me know what happened to you. The God of miracles lives. But remember, you have to live for God. He doesn’t heal people so they can serve the devil; He heals them to honor and glorify His holy name. Praise the Lord and let Him work His holy work. Praise Him for His wonderful promises of healing and deliverance. Hug them to your heart, for they bring grace and power. His promises bring goodness and mercy. They bring so much that you can never put it all into words. The blood of Jesus is the cure. When you feel confusion, remember that every miracle, every help you need is in the blood. Trust God to make you whole through the divine blood of Jesus. Remember, He made me whole, and what He has done for me, He can do for you.
