When You Don’t Understand, Lean on Jesus
by Ernest Angley
October 2014
How many times have you said, “I don’t understand why this has happened to me,” or “I don’t understand why this has happened to my family”? When the Corinthians did not understand, Paul told them, For by faith ye stand (II Corinthians 1:24). The only way you will be able to stand is by using divine faith because human faith is too fragile.
The Bible says, Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves (II Corinthians 13:5). When troubles come, you need to examine yourself to see if you are at fault because you can actually bring a lot of troubles upon your own head. Then you will cry out to God, “I don’t understand.” You can get understanding through the Holy Spirit; and if you are the cause of some of your own trouble, you need to know it.
You can bring troubles upon yourself when you are not justified in the eyes of God. When you accuse God or blame Him for things, you will not get His help; and He will back away. You can also get into trouble when you do not use God’s wisdom. The Lord said, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5). This refers to divine wisdom, and God will give it to you liberally and never rebuke you for asking; but some of you never ask the Lord in faith or believe He will give you that wisdom. Then you say, “I don’t understand why I have it so hard in life.”
Some of you misunderstand the truth, the Word of God and the love and peace of God. Jesus said, In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33). That means Jesus will deliver you out of all of your tribulations. What don’t you understand about that?
God is a reasonable God, and He wants to reason with us. He said, Come now, and let us reason together (Isaiah 1:18). We don’t need to understand when we are reasoning with God if we have the faith, love and peace of God and if the angels of the Lord are helping us. The Bible tells us that angels work with those who are saved. Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14)? Angels work in all of my services, and I never pray for the sick without the angel of the Lord standing by my side.
We don’t have to understand everything as long as the Lord is holding our hand. If the death angel comes to take a loved one home, we must know we will be all right. I have lost some great loved ones, but I have always kept my hands in God’s. If you will learn to do that, you won’t always be saying, “Lord, I don’t understand why I have to go through all of this.” You can walk with the Lord in divine faith, and it will show you the way.
Trust in the Lord
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). That word “trust” means everything, and you either trust God today or you don’t. Just to say you trust God is not enough; you have to trust Him completely and act out that trust. You have to embrace that trust with the whole you and with the reasoning of the Holy Spirit.
Do you trust in the Lord with all of your heart, or do you lean on people and your own understanding? Some of you trust in riches and material possessions or in friends and loved ones more than you do in the Lord. You must give your whole heart to the Lord in this troublesome hour of need; and when you are rooted and grounded in His love, you will give your whole heart. That is the blood trust of divine faith and love that destroys all doubt, and the Lord can only work with divine love and divine faith.
Proverbs goes on to say, In all thy ways acknowledge him [God], and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:6). Some of you honor the Lord only in some of your ways, and then you make foolish mistakes because you fail to use God’s wisdom. God said He would direct all of your paths, but first you have to know the ways of God; and you will find them in the Bible from Genesis through Revelation.
When you think your boat is about to sink, do you cry, “Lord, don’t you care if I perish?” Of course He cares, but He wants you to know without a doubt that He does and not ask such questions; however, that was exactly what the disciples asked when they were out on the stormy sea.
There arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he [Jesus] was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish (Mark 4:37,38)? Many of the disciples were expert fishermen, and they knew it was dangerous to be out on the Sea of Galilee in a storm; but there they were, full of doubt and fear and not trusting in the Lord. They were so fearful that at first they even forgot Jesus was on board.
Jesus was very man, but He had been sleeping through it all because He was using divine faith; and He knew the boat would not sink. When Jesus woke up, He simply said, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39).
Some of you act like the disciples did when you forget Jesus is on board your ship; and you cry, “Help me, Jesus! Don’t you care?” You already know the answer; but when you are not trusting in God, you won’t use His answer.
When you fail to use the answers the Lord gives you in His wonderful Holy Bible, you are in trouble. You have to trust in the Lord, in His promises, in His grace and in the divine blood. The Bible says, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9).
When you do not believe the Lord cares for you, the devil can give you a big load of fear. You will be afraid to get old, afraid you will get sick, afraid you will run out of money or even afraid you will lose your job. You are afraid to live and afraid to die, so you are a mess. The Lord came so you could live holy and enjoy the greatness of Heaven while you are on your way there. You also have the strength of the Lord as He walks and talks with you.
Have Divine Joy
When you trust God, divine joy will come to you in the morning. For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5). That is the Bride’s promise, yet some of you hang your harps on the willows like the Israelites did; and you act like you are in a strange land without the Lord. We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the LORD’s song in a strange land (Psalm 137:2-4)?
I sing the songs of the Lord no matter what is going on. The Bible says, Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing (Psalm 100:1,2). You must serve the Lord with gladness, not with depression and oppression. After Jesus had been anointed by the Holy Ghost, He went about healing all who were oppressed of the devil. God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38).
Jesus is doing the same thing today; but some of you carry depression even though you are a child of God who has had miracles from Heaven and received the good Holy Ghost with power from On High. You are so sad, and you want to tell others about it; and that is an awful testimony. You will probably never win any souls that way. The Lord said that if you delight yourself in Him, He will give you the desires of your heart. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart (Psalm 37:4).
Many people will say they want the will of God, but they won’t walk in it. They only want God’s will if it matches their will because they want their own way. People either want the will of God or they don’t; and if they want His will, they will walk in it. If I tell some people that something is not the will of God, they decide that they don’t like me anymore; but that is up to them. I give people thus saith the Lord, and they can mock it and even rise up against it; but they will meet God on Judgment Day, saith the Lord.
Use Divinity
If you have lost your job, don’t say, “I don’t understand why.” Instead, check to see if you had anything to do with it. If you didn’t cause it, the Lord said He would give you another one as long as you tithe, give unto the Lord and live holy. Don’t get hysterical about it and start thinking you will soon starve to death because the Lord promised He would supply your needs. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Claim that promise and start putting out job applications. Then you and the Lord can go out to get an even better job than you had before. The Lord is always on the throne when you are obedient.
Enoch was obedient, and he pleased God so much that the Lord took him to Heaven alive! By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God (Hebrews 11:5).
The Bride will go to Heaven the same way Enoch did because she will please the Lord. Members of the bridal company will not be running around saying, “I’m doing the best I can, so I don’t understand why this happened.” You must learn what the Bible says about what you are facing.
Jesus, the divine Son of God, came to Earth as a man; and He showed us how to use divinity. One thing we must do is put on the whole armor of God. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).
The shield of faith can stop all the fiery darts of the devil; so every time he comes around, just throw up your shield of faith. His darts will lie in a pile to let him know that he can’t get to you unless he gets to God first. Did you ever think about that? You are being proven now; God’s sifting time is here. Are you standing the tests so far, or do you grumble and complain? You will never get anywhere acting like that.
Stop saying you don’t know what to do and trust God because if you are saved, you have Jesus on board your ship. He said, Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). You have to be free of everything, but some of you are depressed and carry unnecessary burdens.
Some people say, “I feel like something bad is about to happen!” But I always feel like something good is about to happen, and that is why I am happy while you are not. If you were really free, you would have the joy the Bible tells about. Ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory (I Peter 1:8).
Roll Away the Stones
Jesus was a good friend of Lazarus and his two sisters; so when Lazarus was dying, they did not understand why Jesus didn’t come. When Jesus finally arrived, Lazarus was already dead. Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died (John 11:21). Mary and Martha were not remembering things that the Lord had said or that He had all power. But Jesus said, Thy brother shall rise again (John 11:23). Why had Jesus not come?—because He knew that Lazarus’ death was just sleep. He had waited for Lazarus to die so God’s glory could be manifested.
Jesus said to Martha, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God (John 11:40)?
Jesus asked to be taken to Lazarus’ tomb; and when they arrived, He said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days (John 11:39). That is where some of you get into trouble. When the Lord is about to do something for you, you find something to bring before Him just as Martha did. She was actually saying, “Lord, you don’t have the kind of power to bring him out of that tomb”; but Jesus wanted the people to get the stone out of the way and see God’s power at work.
When they did roll away the stone, Jesus cried, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes (John 11:43,44).
Some of you will not roll your stone out of the way. You excuse yourself like Martha did and think you are justified, but you are not. That is why you are suffering when really there is just a stone between you and your miracle, between you and pure joy, pure faith, happiness, peace and love. You are so close, but you will not use enough faith to roll away that stone of doubt and disobedience.
Some of you will believe for things in the future, but you cannot believe for things you need right now; and you will not use your faith to get things done. You will believe there is a Heaven to go to, but you don’t believe you can have a piece of it right now.
When you get saved, you have the passport to Heaven; you belong to God’s family, and you become a joint-heir with Jesus. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16,17).
Once you become a son or a daughter of God, you must stop acting and talking like a pauper; and in times of trouble, stop always wondering what you are going to do. If you do not learn to trust in God, I don’t know what will happen to you; but whatever it is, don’t blame God for it.
God Is Good
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). That scripture tells you that you will be all right no matter what happens if you are living in the divine will of God. The great voice of the Lord is crying out, “You will be all right because I have called you to take my Gospel to the whole world. I have given you talents, and I have called you to work for me”; but some of you will not accept that scripture. You may believe it with human faith, but you won’t use divine faith; and then you will talk doubt to yourself and to others. If you do that, you are not fit to talk to anybody until you can talk right. When you believe right, you will talk right and walk right; and when you walk right, you will receive right and do right. It is really so simple.
If I can get your attention off of yourself and get you to look at Jesus, you will forget about your old, ugly self with its doubts, fears, depressions, oppressions and despair; and then you won’t say, “Lord, I don’t understand.” When did the Lord ever say we had to understand everything on this journey? God is bigger than we are, and He is big enough to do everything we need. Don’t ask yourself why God has let certain things happen to you; just know they are for His good if you will act right.
Want God’s Will
I live in the will of God and in the truth of God, and that is the reason I am free. I don’t just say I want the will of God; I want it no matter what it costs me. When the Lord took my precious wife, Angel, home, Jesus Himself visited with me and said, “It was my divine will to have taken Angel when I did; and because of that, she will bring more souls into my Kingdom than if I had left her with you.” Because I had always wanted God’s divine will, I had to bow to that.
Angel had always wanted God’s divine will, too; and the Lord had anointed her to go to Heaven. Shortly before she passed away, Jesus came into her room; and she saw Him standing by the bridge across Jordan. Her face was so lit up when she said, “Jesus is here. Don’t you see Him standing over there?” Then she cried, “Jesus, let down the bridge so I can go across!” She said it three times, and then the Lord did let down that bridge for her. It is so wonderful that she was ready.
With God, you have nothing to fear and nothing to worry about; so get rid of all your fears. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). The spirit of fear comes from the devil, so don’t let him unload his fear on you. The devil works through fear, and he will make you think that something terrible is going to happen to you or that you are about to die; but the Lord said, I am the LORD that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26).
Only Believe
Jairus could have said, “I don’t understand,” when a messenger came and told him that his daughter had died; but Jesus said to Jairus, Be not afraid, only believe (Mark 5:36). Jairus believed Jesus and did not give up hope; he went walking on with Jesus, and you must walk on with Jesus, too. The Lord treated death like sleep; and when we know the truth about death, that is the way we should treat it. You are not afraid to go to sleep at night, so why should you be afraid to go to sleep in Jesus?
When Jairus and Jesus arrived at the house, it was filled with people who were crying and carrying on; and Jesus asked, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn (Mark 5:39,40). Then Jesus spoke with authority and commanded the people to get out of the house. He put fear in them, and they scattered like feathers in the wind.
Then Jesus walked over to what people thought was a dead body and said, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment (Mark 5:41,42). She opened her eyes and saw Jesus, and then He told the people to give her something to eat—that was Jesus.
This was not done in a corner, and we don’t put God’s miracles in a corner either. The Lord told me I was to go on television and show the healing lines so people could see God at work. That is why people can tune in and see God heal, deliver and set people free. No matter how much some people doubt, those who want to believe become believers in God, in Jesus Christ and in the good Holy Ghost. Dishonest-hearted doubters don’t want to believe, so the Lord leaves them alone; and they seal their own doom. The Holy Spirit will never strive with them again because they have had their chance.
God Knows What He Is Doing
In Eden, Adam and Eve could not say they did not understand about the tree of death because the Lord had plainly told them about it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:16,17). God has plainly told you what things will send your soul to hell, too; so He will accept no excuses on Judgment Day—you will either be holy or unholy.
The disciples did not understand why Jesus went to Calvary; but after He had been resurrected, He stayed on Earth for forty more days to teach them, to clear up all of their misunderstandings and to take away their doubt and fear. Then they went forth to evangelize the known world just as Jesus had told them to. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).
I am sure Joseph did not always understand why he had to spend many years as a slave in Egypt. Joseph’s brothers had sold him to Midianite merchantmen when he was a boy because they were jealous of him, and then they had deceived their father into thinking he had been killed. However, Joseph was close to God; and after many years, he understood God’s plan and he never held it against his brothers. When they were finally reunited, he told them, God did send me before you to preserve life. For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest. And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt (Genesis 45:5-8).
Joseph’s brothers had been afraid that he would kill them or put them in prison for life, but he didn’t do that. Joseph told them that the Lord had done it because he understood how God moved. Yes, Joseph had to go through a lot before he became second in power in Egypt, but the Lord used that time to take all the ego and the desire for riches out of him.
Stand for God
When Daniel was in the lions’ den, he could have said he didn’t understand; but instead, he leaned on the Lord. Daniel spent an entire night with those lions; and the next morning, the king was anxious to know what had happened to him. Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live forever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt (Daniel 6:19-22).
Daniel lived in divine faith, divine works and all of divinity; and the three Hebrew boys did the same thing. They would not bow to the image that King Nebuchadnezzar had made, so the king threw them into the fiery furnace. He instructed that it be heated so hot that the men who cast the Hebrew boys in were instantly killed; however, when the king looked into that furnace, he said, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither (Daniel 3:24-26). They had won!
If you don’t bow to anything of the devil, you won’t be left behind when the Rapture takes place; but if you do, you will be left. Most of those who are on Earth today will be here when the Rapture takes place, and it is up to you whether or not you will be ready.
When I don’t understand, I just say, “Lord, not my will, but yours be done.” Then later on, I understand why that day was like it was.
The Lord will explain things to you if you walk with Him, but you can’t walk with Him in the night because He only walks with those who walk in His light. When you walk in His light, you will find your answers in His Word or He will give you the answers you need. The Lord said we must live by His faith and love; and we must live for Him, with Him and through Him.
Lean on Jesus
When you feel like you don’t understand or you don’t know what to do, don’t ask questions; just lean on Jesus as the Bible tells you to. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler (Psalm 91:4). Whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe (Proverbs 29:25). Some of you don’t know how to lean on Jesus. You may think you are; but if you are not getting results, you are not really leaning on Him.
Jesus said we are to take our burdens to Him. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:29,30).
To lean on Jesus, you must live in divinity just like He did when He was here. He took on the fashion of a man, yet He lived in divinity; and that is the new and living way He brought. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh (Hebrews 10:19,20). To have that new and living way, you must be born again; and that was what the Lord told Nicodemus. Ye must be born again (John 3:7).
Do you have the new and living way, or do you have the same way and the same plans you had before you claimed to have come to God? The Bible tells you that you cannot be saved by your works. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9).
Obey God
You must live in the anointings of God and use them, but some of you will not obey and do that. If you do not trust God and obey Him, He is not going to trust you; and that is thus saith the Lord. I tell people the things of God, and it is up to them whether or not they accept those things. If they don’t, their blood will not be on my hands.
The Lord told Ezekiel that if he did not tell the people God’s truth, their blood would be upon his hands. Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul (Ezekiel 3:17-19).
Paul declared that no man’s blood was going to be on his hands. Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God (Acts 20:26,27).
As long as the Early Church disciples obeyed God, He moved for them; and no power could destroy them. Then when they were persecuted, they went everywhere preaching the Gospel. At that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word (Acts 8:1,4).
The Lord said He bought you with a price; and if you are saved, you have sold yourself to Him. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s (I Corinthians 6:19,20). I never want to disappoint my Lord.
Learn about Jesus
To lean on Jesus, you have to know that He loves you with an unending love all the time. Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee (Jeremiah 31:3).
Some of you believe the Lord loves others, but you do not believe He loves you all the time. If you are obeying the Lord, His love will endure forever; and that love is power, saith the Lord. God’s love is also strength, the same strength that Jesus had when He was here; but if you don’t use it right, that strength will become a danger to your life, to the lives of others and to Heaven.
You have to learn all about Jesus and know how He works. You must know what He will and will not do; and you must learn of His strength, His faith and His grace that are for you. You must learn of His wisdom and knowledge that are available to you. You must learn that He is your passport to Glory and that Heaven is all yours. You must learn that Jesus is your Pearl of Great Price and that you must sell everything to buy that Pearl. The kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it (Matthew 13:45,46).
Some of you don’t know about this Pearl of Great Price; so when troubles come, you don’t know if it is the enemy, people or the devil working against you. That is why you need the mind of Christ. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). If you have the mind of Christ and you know how to get rid of your battles of the mind, you will be all right; and you will know what to do with the devil when he comes around.
The Word Defeats the Devil
In Luke 4:1-14, you will find the greatest lesson Jesus ever taught us when He was here—how to handle the devil. The devil said unto him [Jesus], If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:3,4). In this chapter, you will see that Jesus said, “It is written…it is written…it is written.” Jesus gave the devil the Word.
You may read the Bible, but do you study it? I have spent thousands of hours studying, searching and being taught by the Holy Ghost. I went to the best theological school in my day; and after I had finished, the Lord said, “You have been to man’s school; now you have to be taught by the Holy Ghost.” He told me this Jesus ministry would be my university; and after all of these years, I am still learning.
Some people can put on such a beautiful, godly front when they are not really living holy. They have only “fig leaf religion,” and they try to hide behind God and cover up their sins; but the Lord looks beyond that front and into the heart. For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (I Samuel 16:7). It is amazing that God can tell you everything that is in your life today. As His prophet, He lets me know things about people, and I will pray for them and help them all I can; but if they don’t accept what God says, they are on their own.
Never Worry
The Bible says, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). Some of you live by your feelings more than you live by faith, and you might as well admit it. Worry is not faith, and the Bible tells us not to be anxious about anything. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). Give praise unto the Lord and leave all your troubles with Him—that is leaning on Jesus.
I don’t stay awake worrying like some of you do, and I pray that the Lord will help you to lean on Him and know that He cares, too. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you (I Peter 5:7).
Many of you are discouraged because you don’t receive all of the miracles you need, so start thinking about miracles you have seen or read about. Then let the Holy Ghost take you over; He is your teacher and your guide. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13). The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth, so He will never tell you anything wrong. He will keep you in the truth; and He will soothe you with God’s love, peace and joy. He will calm your nervous system so you can sleep, eat, be a worker for the Lord and be obedient to Him in all things.
Have Divine Faith
Jesus called human faith “little faith.” He asked the disciples more than once, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt (Matthew 14:31)? The disciples were not leaning on what Jesus had told them because to lean on Jesus, you have to lean on truth and the promises of God. Jesus brought nothing but divinity, but what are you doing with that divinity? Some of you use only a teaspoonful or a thimbleful of it, and that will not work.
The Bible says we are to have faith in God (Mark 11:22). The Bible also tells us that we cannot please God without faith. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). When you come to God, you must believe that He will reward you, not disown you or push you away. His arms will be open to you if you will be obedient to Him. The Bible says, If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19).
The eleventh chapter of Hebrews tells us about saints who lived by divine faith. They pleased God, and that means everything. It took Noah and his family 120 years to build the ark, and they didn’t get one soul saved during all of that time; but the Holy Ghost gave Noah the grace to build and the grace to listen to Him. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith (Hebrews 11:7). God was going to destroy all mankind in the Flood, but the Bible tells us that Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Genesis 6:8).
Be Fruitful
Through the Holy Ghost, Paul wrote, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering [patience], gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance [self-control] (Galatians 5:22,23). These are the divine fruits of the Holy Ghost; but without the Holy Ghost, you cannot have these fruits.
These fruits are eternal, and the Lord told me that these fruits are much greater than all the physical fruit that was in Eden; but how much do you dine on the divine fruits? They will take all the grumbling out of you and allow the Lord to become your sufficiency.
Do you have the fruit of self-control, or do you argue? You cannot argue your way into Heaven. Some of you don’t believe that two people can live together without arguing; but if you have old-time salvation, you can. Angel and I lived together for twenty-seven years before the Lord took her home, and we never argued or fought.
Do you have the fruit of longsuffering? Some of you don’t have the patience to wait for the fulfillment of God’s promises. There is a condition to all of God’s promises, and the Lord told me that a promise is not yours until you meet its condition. I always wait on God, and I never move until He tells me to. Then when He tells me to stop, I know how to put on the brakes. I know how to wait on God in the right place—His waiting room of love, faith, obedience and humility.
The Bible says, Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD (Psalm 27:14). Some of you have never learned to wait on God because you don’t trust Him. You will leave a burden with Him; but later, you will run back and get it. Since God saved me, I have never taken a burden out of His hands.
When you get up in the morning, you should separate the things you need to do and put them in order. God is a God of order; so you can say, “Jesus, this is for you to take care of. This next one is for me, and I will take care of it with your help and grace. This little one is for me, too; but, Lord, only you can do justice to this big one, so I give it to you. You told me to bring my burdens to you, and I trust you to take care of them more than I trust anybody else; and I know you will never fail. I know you will always keep your promises.”
Carry Your Cross
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24). There is a cross for everyone, and you must carry your cross. Jesus made it a glorious cross for you; and if you fall beneath the load of it, the Lord will send somebody to help you carry it part of the way.
Some of you don’t want the responsibility of carrying your cross, but I delight in carrying mine. I am glad that Jesus is no longer here in person for persecutors to get to. I would rather they persecute me, God’s child; and I know the Lord will give me the strength I need to endure. The Lord has never forsaken me in over ninety years, and His love always keeps me going. I know in whom I believe, and I know that I lean upon the Lord; and I always put God first.
Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). Some of you don’t fast the right way. During a fast, you are to give yourself completely to the Lord; and you should not be running around having a good time. You must dwell on the Word and drink the water of life as if it were from the river of life.
Fasting can be a good health tonic. Any reputable doctor will tell you that fasting is good for you as long as you drink plenty of water because it flushes your whole system. People have been healed of all kinds of sicknesses and diseases that doctors could not cure by going on a long fast of twenty-one or forty days.
There is a price to pay to be able to receive the things of God. That is why more ministers do not have the gifts of the Spirit working in their lives—they are not willing to pay the price. I don’t have a life of my own like most people, and I don’t want to. I am satisfied with Jesus; I live and dine with Him, and He lives and dines with me. When He is at my door, I open at once no matter what time it is. He will wake me as gently as you would wake a little child and say, “It is time; I must talk with you.” Then the Lord does the talking, and I do the listening. I carefully listen to everything He says, and those things are greater than all the wealth of the world.
I never get over the wonder of Jesus or of hearing Him and all the love that is in His voice. It is a wonder how He can love all of us, and I will never get over how He loves me! One day after He had taken my Angel home, He let me know that I was greatly loved. I never thought I would ever hear God tell me that, and it did wonders for me.
You will never have to walk alone if you will hold God’s hand. When I don’t understand something, all I have to do is know that both of my hands are in His. Then I know He will lead me by His wonderful love, faith, grace, patience and strength and by the power of the Holy Ghost. You don’t have to understand how God does things; you just have to know He will move because His promises are all true.
Seek God’s Will
Jesus said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). You can only ask what you will if you abide in Jesus, and His promises live in you. Some of you have trouble getting prayers through, but I don’t because I lean on the Lord. I have a standing order in Heaven that says, “Lord, don’t answer any of my prayers if they are not your divine will.” So when the Lord doesn’t answer, I praise Him for His divine will; and I don’t worry about it.
Sometimes, I get God’s will by putting out fleeces before Him; and then I always follow up on them just as Gideon did. And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said, Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said. And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew. And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground (Judges 6:36-40).
Some of you will put out a fleece before the Lord, but you won’t believe Him when He answers it because you have not learned to lean on Jesus; and you have not learned the security you have in Him. When you are secure in every way, that is power; but I say again, that power is dangerous if you use it the wrong way. Therefore, security is also dangerous if you use it the wrong way.
Some of you do not give over to the Lord like you should, but you don’t realize it. That is why you do not get results, and it isn’t God’s fault. Everything is always all right in Heaven; the trouble is down here. You may think the devil or other people are hindering your prayers, but you are the one who is hindering your prayers.
The devil cannot stop your prayers. When Jesus died, He made a blood line to Heaven; and if you are holy, you can call there any time. Then you have to stay plugged in. I am always plugged in, and that is why I can reach Heaven for people right away; and they receive their miracles and deliverances. I expect nothing less if they will believe and obey God.
God has made so much available to us, and it is all divine. He has put it all on one, big table; and we must hear the voice of Jesus saying, Come and dine (John 21:12).
Be a True Child of God
Many people have betrayed me down through the years, people I had never harmed in any way; but I have turned them over to Jesus. I cover my enemies with the blood and go on my way. Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19). The Lord will take care of your enemies if you learn how to lean on Him.
The Bible says, And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6:9). This is not speaking of dying but merely of fainting, and you will lose ground when you do that; but if you sow the right kind of seed, you will reap.
Some people claim to be saved and to be sowing the right seed, but they are not. When I look into their hearts and the cross does not light up, I know they are not saved; but some of them don’t want to be told, and they get mad at me when God moves on me to tell them about their state. When that happens, I just have to let them go their way because they have hardened their hearts against God and do not want to believe. They have no trust in or love for God; they only love self.
God hates a selfish spirit, but He said many would have that in the last days. This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves…Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away (II Timothy 3:1,2,5). People who have just a form of godliness receive no miracles or healings. They are just playing church, and they are not really in contact with Heaven.
Are you leaning upon the Lord with all of your heart whether you understand what you are going through or not? Can anybody influence you to go against the will of God, or are you so weak that you can influence yourself?
Someday, I won’t cry over people anymore. It will all be over, and the Lord will come down and brush away my tears because I will have always leaned upon Him. If people want to help hold up my hands, I count that a bonus because people can fail whether they mean to or not. That is why I always lean on Jesus.
Receive the Understanding Jesus
Holy is the name of the Lord! If you are unsaved today, it is time for you to give your heart to God. Say this prayer. Oh, God, I confess that I am lost. I am a sinner, and I have sinned against you, God; but I am so sorry. I know you love me because you gave Jesus for me. You gave your whole heart when you gave your Only Begotten Son. Lord, forgive me! I believe that the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, He has come; and He is yours.
Now, go on to receive the good Holy Ghost according to Acts 2:4, And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. The first evidence of the Holy Ghost is speaking in another language. It is a heavenly language, and it won’t be you speaking at all. The tongue of fire will be given to you, and the Spirit will speak in a language that you have never learned.
Jesus is our example, and it was necessary for Him to receive the Holy Ghost before He started His ministry here on Earth. John saw the Holy Ghost come down upon Jesus in the form of a dove, and the Father was so pleased that He spoke from Heaven. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he [John the Baptist] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Matthew 3:16,17).
No minister should be preaching without the real Holy Ghost, but so many of them don’t get the real baptism or the real power of God. Speaking in tongues at will and prophesying at will are not of God. That is mockery, and God told me that devils will take over those who continue to do such things.
Before Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He told the disciples, Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8). Nevertheless, some of you have rejected what you really need—the power from On High. The Early Church disciples had it, and they evangelized the known world in thirty-three years; but then they fell away from God. They lost the divine power; and for hundreds of years, the Church was never the same.
Miracles Are Yours
Now that you have given your life to God, you can be healed. It does not matter how sick you are or how close to death you are; Jesus is the healing Christ! He even healed sinners, and He told them to go and sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:14). Have you been saying, “I don’t understand why I am suffering”? You must know that it is not the will of God for you to suffer with diseases or afflictions. Jesus came with healing in His wings; and He is the same yesterday, today and forever! But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings (Malachi 4:2). Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). You can lean on the Lord and have your miracle.
Lord, here are the people. Some have AIDS or HIV; some have cancer, diabetes or leprosy for which there is no cure. Others have heart trouble, lung trouble or paralysis. Lord, I bring you little babies who have been born deformed or with just part of a brain. You have already made many of them intelligent little beings, and you can do it again. Heal! in the blood name of Jesus. Heal! in the almighty, blood name.
Diseases are now fleeing from your body, so watch yourself and your little ones get well. Then write and tell me about it, and I will rejoice with you.
God bless.
