When Trouble Comes, Immediately Consult Jesus
by Ernest Angley
December 2015
When troubles come, what do you do? You must immediately consult Jesus, and never forget the word “immediately.” You must consult Jesus as soon as you need help; and in fact, you have to learn to look to Jesus before trouble arrives. You must depend on Him while the sun is still shining because once the storm hits, it will be hard for the Holy Spirit to help you with the lightning flashing and the thunder roaring if you don’t already know where to turn. Then you may turn to family, friends or others and miss hearing what Jesus is saying.
How you face your troubles makes all the difference, and the Lord has taught us how to do that in His Holy Word; but some people pass over it. They do the very things God has told us not to do; and that is why they do not come out of their troubles with greater power, greater love, greater victory or greater peace.
When the Lord called the Apostle Paul to start his ministry, he said, Immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus (Galatians 1:16,17). Note that Paul said, “Immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood.” He did not ask anyone about his calling but instead went into Arabia to consult Jesus on his own. He wanted no opinions, not even his own; and he was a success through the One who had called him. From the time he was saved, he wanted only the divine will of God.
We all need to remember that we are not to confer with flesh and blood first if we are going to do the divine will of God because only by looking to the Lord will we be able to do His will. The Bible says, The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (I Corinthians 2:14). It takes divine faith and love to immediately respond God’s way; but flesh and blood can always find a reason to doubt, question or disobey.
When God asks you to do something or when the Holy Spirit deals with you about a situation, do you pick up the phone to call a friend, a loved one or a business consultant? Depending on the situation, it may not be wrong to talk to these people; but I have found that if I ask twenty people about something, I get twenty different answers. If the first answer does not confuse you, you will be buried in confusion by the time you get the twentieth answer; and you cannot risk being confused in this last hour because you could be considering a bad answer when the Rapture takes place and be left behind.
Twenty opinions may be okay if you are decorating a house; but if you are not careful, your house may look like it has never been decorated by the time you get through using all of them. That is why you cannot rely on people’s opinions when it comes to the well-being of your soul or doing the will of God. The Bible says, For we walk by faith, not by sight (II Corinthians 5:7). When you do not walk by faith, you put your life in danger.
If God or the Holy Spirit is dealing with you about a certain thing, no one will know more about it than they do. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6). The day of Jesus Christ is the day He will come for the Bride, and that should give you a lot of assurance. God will never let you fail when you do your best for Him. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it (I Thessalonians 5:24). The faith of God will help you to put your hand in the Lord’s hand, and the love of God will help you to keep it there as you walk in the strength of the One who loves you so much.
Stay in God’s Place
Moses questioned God about his slow speech, but it did not get him anywhere; and you will not get anywhere trying to excuse yourself either. And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue (Exodus 4:10). So Moses asked if his brother Aaron could go along.
And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well…And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do (Exodus 4:14,15). Later, Moses regretted getting Aaron involved because he brought with him his sister Miriam who had a big mouth; and those who have big mouths are concerned about everything but the right things.
Like Moses, Gideon and Jeremiah made excuses; but God did not accept them. Gideon said, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house (Judges 6:15). Jeremiah said, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child (Jeremiah 1:6).
When I was called to preach, I knew nothing about preaching; but by faith I told the Lord, “I will, but I don’t know how.” Then God took hold of my will to work for Him, and He has never let it go for over seventy years.
Not everyone is called to preach or to become a prophet, but God does place you in the body of Christ exactly where He needs you; and that is the place you must occupy for Him until He moves you somewhere else. The Bible says, For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God [not you or me] set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him (I Corinthians 12:14-18).
In the human body, the eye is just as important as the ear; and the little finger is just as important as the thumb or the index finger, and it is the same with the body of Christ—each member is just as important as another. Think about how carefully God has put each person in their place, and those of you who are serving well will see that it is because you are where the Lord placed you. That is why you must immediately consult Jesus when you are being called to a certain position in the body of Christ.
You Must Forgive
You will find constant reasons in your everyday life to immediately consult Jesus rather than turning to self or the opinions of others. When someone hurts you, it can cause so many reactions from self; and many people decide they want revenge. That is why you need to immediately consult Jesus and get rid of your anger. Paul said, But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth (Colossians 3:8). He also said, Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath (Ephesians 4:26). If you are not prayed up and looking to Heaven, it is hard to be angry and not sin.
Sinners want to yell, throw things or sic the dog on their enemies; but the Bible says, Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19). Nevertheless, when some people are upset, they will say, “Never mind, God, I will take care of this myself.” You may think that God will not punish the person like you think he should or that He might spare their life, but you cannot think like that. You must know that you are not strong enough to do the things God says He will do.
When you are hurt, do not take yourself so seriously. The world has not come to an end just because you are hurt, and I am sure you have not come this far in life without ever hurting somebody yourself. That is why you must always check your own life before you complain about somebody else’s.
Then you must forgive, but flesh and blood alone cannot forgive. That is why you must consult divinity, and then the forgiveness from Heaven will automatically flow. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses (Mark 11:25).
Face Persecution God’s Way
When discouragement comes, do you try to run away from it? Discouragement can take the life right out of you if you let it; and if you do not consult the Lord immediately, the devil will move in to give you feelings of depression and hopelessness. However, Isaiah prophesied about Jesus saying, Behold my servant, whom I uphold…He shall not fail nor be discouraged (Isaiah 42:1,4).
Troubles and persecutions will come; but Paul said, We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed (II Corinthians 4:8,9). Paul got ready for persecution, so he was not distressed when it came. Stress and distress destroy so many people throughout the Earth, but God does not want them to destroy His people because they come from the devil. It is God’s will for you to be in good health and to have His peace, contentment, joy and happiness.
The Bible tells us that Jesus was persecuted and tempted just as we are. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). After Jesus had fasted for forty days in the wilderness, the devil went to tempt Him; but Jesus immediately responded to Lucifer three times with, It is written (Matthew 4:4,7,10). Jesus gave the devil the Word, and so must we.
When you are persecuted, the Bible says, Greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory (I Peter 1:6-8). Notice that it does not just say we are to have “joy” but “unspeakable joy.”
The Lord said to Israel, Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10). God’s right hand of righteousness holds everything that is excellent and not a speck of anything that is wrong.
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6:9). That is a promise of God, and that is the greatest insurance there is in Heaven and on Earth. You will reap if you keep on going, but you cannot faint on God.
Jesus Is All We Need
We must always be ready to immediately consult Jesus because the Bible says, My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8,9).
Today, we hear so many things that are not true; and even when people know something is not true, they tell it anyhow. That is why you cannot rely on what people say. Also, never argue with people who do not know much about Jesus or the spiritual side of life. Many have never studied much about Jesus because when they found out all they would have to give up to follow Him, they were ready to go somewhere else. The Bible describes such people saying, Because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand (Matthew 13:13).
We must always look to Jesus because He is the only one in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace (Ephesians 1:7). He is the one in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3). With divine wisdom, we have boldness and can access Heaven with the faith of Jesus and with confidence. We have everything we need in Jesus Christ; and if we will hold to the Bible and carefully study it, we will receive those things.
James said, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5). You must ask of God, not somebody else. He will not scold you for being ignorant; He will bless you for realizing you need Him and for asking for His help.
When we consult and hear Jesus, the Father will be pleased with us. While he [Jesus] yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him (Matthew 17:5).
Jesus is our salvation. In whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise (Ephesians 1:13). Once we are saved, the Holy Spirit seals our souls with the divine blood; and as long as we never sin, we will be sealed by our Lord for eternity. We will even have a new name that is approved by God. To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it (Revelation 2:17).
Jesus Is the Answer for Trouble
Jesus is our true foundation. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 3:11). He is the Rock of Ages for us and nothing can destroy that foundation. Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation (Isaiah 28:16).
The Lord is your strength in times of trouble, but you have to know it. The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble (Nahum 1:7). The Lord warns you that trouble will come, and the Holy Spirit will prepare you ahead of time; but if you don’t realize that and get ready, you will be in great distress and have to pay a high price.
When troubles come, the devil will try to make you think that God is against you; and you will wonder, “What have I done wrong now?” But maybe the trouble came upon you because of something you did right; and the devil is just trying to steal the joy of your salvation, take your strength and defeat you in your walk with the Lord. The Bible says, The joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). Some people are so weak during troublesome times because they let the devil rob them of the joy of the Lord.
The Psalmist said, Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me (Psalm 138:7). This world is full of troubles, and you are not going to be shielded from all of them; but some of you do not understand what to do when they come because you have not prepared yourself through the Word of God. Then the enemy can cause you to doubt your salvation, your baptism in the Spirit and your walk with God.
Nothing can ever separate you from God except sin. He told the people in Old Testament days, Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:2). Sin is the only thing that has the power to separate you from God, yet people will allow troubles and other things to separate them.
Troubles should draw you closer to God. They should make you realize how deep your faith is in Him and how much you trust Him. If you will trust in the Lord until you die, He will cradle you in His arms and hug you close to Him. When the storm is raging all around you, it is wonderful to know you are secure in His loving arms.
Job Overcame Trouble
Trouble came upon Job, not because he had done something wrong but because he had done everything right. The LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land (Job 1:8-10).
The devil said to God, “Job serves you because of all that you give him.” The Lord knew that was not true because He knew that Job had loved Him when he had nothing. God had given Job plenty because he loved God; however, Job had a fear he held on to, and that opened the door for trouble. For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me (Job 3:25). Job lost his children and everything he owned; but even so, he said, The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD (Job 1:21).
Job was prepared or he never would have been able to take all that he did; and the Lord knew Job was prepared or He never would have put him out before the devil and said, “There is none like him in the land. He is holy, upright and he fears me. You cannot find any evil in him no matter how hard you try.” In other words, Job was full of God’s love, and he shunned all evil; so he had victory and power over the devil.
Satan had told God, “You have a hedge around Job; but if you take it down and let me get to him, he will curse you.” Put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face (Job 1:11). But that did not happen.
God then pointed out to Satan, Still he [Job] holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes (Job 2:3-8).
Job was ready for trouble, but his wife was not. She was one of those people who make trouble instead of preparing themselves for it. When Job really needed her, she said, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die (Job 2:9). Those were such discouraging words when Job was suffering so much and sitting on the ash heap with boils all over him. One boil will make you think you are about to die, so the devil really chose the worst thing he could think of when he covered Job with boils.
Because Job had prepared himself for trouble, he had inside of him what it takes to overcome; and he stood up against everything. All of his children had died; everything he had owned was gone, and his wife did not seem to love him anymore. And after all of that, even more trouble came in the form of three so-called comforters who brought with them only bad news. Nevertheless, did anyone persuade Job to look anywhere except to God? No.
Let Trouble Drive You Deeper
When troubles come, do not pity yourself because when you have the Lord, you have plenty of promises. Jesus said, Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me (John 14:1). Jesus was saying, “If you believe me to be your Savior and Redeemer and you believe what I have taught you, you will be all right. I have used what I have taught to overcome the devil in everything, and I am victorious. My faith will make you victorious, too.”
You must get ready for trouble by using the Lord’s victorious faith. Trouble may knock you down to your knees, but sometimes that is a good place to land. At times, you may even land with your face in the dirt, but it will cause you to take on the humility of Jesus; and as long as you have the faith you need in the promises of God to get back up, you will not stay down. Then when you stand to your feet, you will be stronger, have more power and use more of God’s love than ever before.
Troubles will cause you either to reach out for the greatness of God or to reach in the wrong direction and trust in people or yourself. They will either drive you away from God or draw you closer to Him, and I have always let them draw me closer. I think of myself as a great big nail; and when the sledgehammer of persecution comes down, it drives the nail deeper and deeper into the grace of God. Every blow may be hard, but they make me pray more, fast more and dig into the Word of God more. You have to fill yourself with the Word.
Do not listen to people’s opinions; and don’t tell them your troubles, only your blessings. If you tell your troubles, people will give you their ugly opinions; and then you will be in more trouble. You must seek to learn what God thinks and knows about you and what He has in reserve for you.
Depend on Jesus
When trouble comes, it is easy to want a human shoulder to cry on; but you are just wasting water. Instead, you must immediately consult Jesus, and lean on His shoulder. He said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). How many people have ever said that to you? The Bible also says, Casting all your care upon him [Jesus]; for he careth for you (I Peter 5:7). “Cast” means to throw, and it is wonderful to be able to throw your burdens upon the Lord and go on your way.
Let this verse put a song in your heart: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee (Isaiah 43:2). The Lord proved that to the Israelites when Pharaoh’s army was coming after them. They crossed the Red Sea, and the waters did not overflow them. The Lord has given us the same promise that the waters will never overflow us.
The Bible goes on to say, When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee (Isaiah 43:2). The Lord proved that promise to the three Hebrew boys. When they would not bow to the king’s idol, he threw them into a fiery furnace. These three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God (Daniel 3:23-25). The Lord was with them in that furnace.
Use Divine Faith
When you have the faith of God, that is blood faith; and in the blood of Jesus, we have all the life, victory, strength, healing and miraculous power we need. The Bible says that the saints of old overcame him [the enemy] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death (Revelation 12:11).
When troubles come, use the Word of God. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Dine on the Word; be strong, and enjoy the blessings of God knowing that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). Then you will not go into a state of despair or distress because when you do, it is hard for the Holy Spirit to get your attention and deal with you.
Stop living in God’s permissible will and live in His divine will like Jesus did when He was here. In God’s permissible will, you will be on your own much of the time; but when you are in His divine will, no matter what happens to you or what troubles come, God promised to work good out of them for you. It may not look like that today or even tomorrow, but it will happen. Then you will look back on the situation and say, “Lord, you kept your promise. I didn’t see how you could get any good out of this situation, but you did; and I am glad I held on to your promise.”
When people talk about being stressed out, they need to get out faith and use it. If you are saved, faith is in your soul; so get it out and say, “Holy Spirit, I am using this divine faith, and it is going to take me through. Divine faith tore down the walls of Jericho, so I know it will tear down the walls of trouble that surround me.”
The Bible says, But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). If the Word says you cannot please God without faith, then you had better not try it. Jesus told the disciples, Have faith in God [or the faith of God] (Mark 11:22). The faith of God belongs to us, and you will not be ready for trouble without using God’s faith and love.
Hebrews 11 is the faith chapter, and the saints mentioned in that chapter got ready for trouble; and they won through faith. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report (Hebrews 11:1,2).
Face Trouble Like Paul Did
Are you ready for anything that the devil may try to bring your way? When you are fasted up, prayed up and ready to go to Heaven, you are ready. One of Paul’s favorite sayings was, “I am ready”; and he was ready to live or die. Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus (Acts 21:13). Paul was ready to do all the work the Lord wanted him to do, and he did not consider what it would cost him. So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also (Romans 1:15).
Paul always consulted Jesus immediately, and he never let troubles stop him. When Paul was in Philippi, he obeyed God and cast fortunetelling devils out of a girl; but when she could no longer tell fortunes, her masters had Paul and Silas put in jail. However, God allowed that for a purpose because the jailor needed God; and he may never have heard the Gospel message any other way.
At midnight, Paul and Silas were singing and praising the Lord; and the Bible says, And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed (Acts 16:26). The jailor thought all the prisoners had escaped, and he knew that would mean death for him; so he was going to take his own life because he did not want to face the disgrace it would bring to him and his family. As he drew out his sword, Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. Then he [the jailor] called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house (Acts 16:28-34).
There are times when God allows troubles to come to us on purpose and not because we have done something against Him. He let troubles come upon His Son for a reason; but Jesus did not run, and neither can you. When you meet them head-on with the grace of God like Paul and Silas did, you will win. Paul and Silas met their trouble head-on, and they won.
Divine Grace Makes the Way
We are called to duty by God’s grace, and we can never afford to turn Him down. He brought grace and truth, and only by His grace are we saved. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9). God’s grace is sufficient for us in everything. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9).
Paul knew he was called by grace; and he said, But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen (Galatians 1:15,16). It is important to notice that Paul realized God had called him from the moment he was born, not when he was grown or when he was knocked down on the road to Damascus while going to arrest Christians and have them put to death.
Paul said, “The Lord called me by His grace, to reveal His Son in me”; and the Lord wants to reveal His Son in each one of us today. However, when something does not go your way, do you show the spirit of Jesus, the spirit of self or the spirit of the devil? I have heard people say, “I just can’t control myself”; and I say that they need to get saved. They may have thought they were saved; but if they did not get enough religion to cover their stubborn spirit and control themselves, then they are not really saved. We may think we cannot stop ourselves from doing certain things, but that is why we need Jesus. We cannot do everything by ourselves.
Jesus Will Never Leave You
Troubles and disappointments will come, but you must learn how to look to Jesus and face them. Life is not going to be Heaven here on Earth, and everything will not be just right for us; but the Lord will be with us all the way. Jesus said, Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:20). He also said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5). The Lord said that troubles, heartaches and the hardness of life would come your way; but He also said He would be with you. The valleys may look deep; but Jesus will always be there with His strength, overcoming power and victory. To be with Jesus means everything, and then you will know He will bring you out all right.
In times of trouble, you must immediately consult Jesus and say, “I have Jesus for this.” Don’t wring your hands and ask yourself, “What am I going to do?” I decided long ago that I was going to trust Jesus, and I know He will help me walk the waters with Him.
Is your trust in the Lord? Do you trust in His love and grace? Jesus trusted in the Father’s divine love, divine grace, divine hope and divine peace; and those things worked. He had taken on the form of a man with all the same weaknesses we have, and He was troubled and persecuted in unbelievable ways; but He stood every test.
Jesus never let trouble defeat Him. He always came out victorious, and you can, too; so why do you let troubles get you down? The Bible says, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2). Jesus kept that faith.
You may despise what is causing your trouble; but for the joy of being what God wants you to be, you keep traveling on with God. You look beyond the storm because you know it cannot last forever, and you know the sunlight of God’s glory will soon shine through. You can see a part of the answer through the promises of God; and when those promises are fulfilled, you will have the complete picture of how God was working for you. That is why we must believe that God’s promises will be fulfilled, and we must live by them.
When you live by God’s promises, the riches of Heaven will come down to you. The power of His supply is yours, and that power flows down to you. Some people will talk about how great, strong and mighty God’s promises are, and they will sing and testify about them; but when the storms of life hit, they go into distress and despair. Then they are tossed to and fro like the waves of the sea, and it is not supposed to be that way. You must know that your future is as bright as the promises of God, and let that encourage your heart.
God Will Supply
The Lord has promised to supply all of our needs spiritually, physically and financially; and Paul knew that when he said, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). He has even promised to supply help to us, and that is one of our greatest needs in time of trouble. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Many people think that the Lord will supply only their financial needs, but God will supply every need in your hour of trouble through Jesus Christ, His Only Begotten Son.
God is rich in love, grace, strength and power. He is rich in health and in anything else we could ever need; and He will supply those needs. When troubles are raging like a mighty storm upon the wild, deep ocean, the Lord will be there if you will immediately consult Him and let Him be there; but if you let the storm work on the inside of you, you will become a nervous wreck and maybe even have a nervous breakdown. You can also become tormented in your mind, but that is not the will of God. Paul said we are to take on the mind of Christ. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). Christ’s mind was one of eternal peace and serenity; and with that kind of mind, the Lord can reason with you, talk to you, inspire and strengthen you.
You will have no rest when the storm is raging on the inside, so why not use the blood and put it outside where it cannot destroy you? The devil will tell you that you can never do it; but the Bible says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13). You cannot do all things within yourself because you don’t have the strength to; but you can do them through Christ, your great hope and great faith.
All Is Well
When you immediately consult Jesus, it shows that you are trusting Him. The Bible says, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6). This says that you will be brought out of your troubles with the smile of God upon you; and you will be able to shout, “All is well!”
You have to face your troubles and go after God as the Shunammite woman did. When her son died, she left her husband with their son’s body and immediately went to find the prophet of God. She told her husband, It shall be well. Then she saddled an ass, and said to her servant, Drive, and go forward; slack not thy riding for me, except I bid thee. So she went and came unto the man of God to mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to Gehazi his servant, Behold, yonder is that Shunammite: Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well (II Kings 4:23-26). The woman told the servant, “All is well,” and she kept on going.
When she got to Elisha, she told him what had happened; and he went with her to her home. And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. He went in therefore, and shut the door upon them twain, and prayed unto the LORD. And he went up, and lay upon the child, and put his mouth upon his mouth, and his eyes upon his eyes, and his hands upon his hands: and he stretched himself upon the child; and the flesh of the child waxed warm. Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. And he called Gehazi, and said, Call this Shunammite. So he called her. And when she was come in unto him, he said, Take up thy son. Then she went in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground, and took up her son, and went out (II Kings 4:32-37). The woman received the miracle for her son because she left trouble behind and went after victory, and victory in Jesus means everything.
Let Divinity Lift You Up
When you immediately consult the Lord like the Shunammite woman did, you will lean on His everlasting arm. Then He will hold you with His love, His grace, His great faith and His wonderful promises. You must see the Lord’s hand reaching forth to help you.
When your trust is in the high arm of God, He will be a mighty power for you. He will be your stronghold when you are rooted and grounded in His love. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God (Ephesians 3:17-19).
In times of trouble, do you see and feel only the trouble? If so, where is the help of the Lord? Where is the divine peace and joy that belong to the children of God? Where is the Holy Spirit, your Comforter? But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). When you see only your troubles, it is hard for the Holy Spirit to lift you up even though He wants to.
God planned for the Holy Ghost to live and abide on the inside of us, and He is there to comfort us in time of trouble. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:16,17). When you know you have the Comforter, you will know you are going to be all right.
You Must Have Divine Peace
Jesus came to bring the light, the joy and the peace of Heaven to us right here on planet Earth. He said, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33).
Divine peace, divine love and divine grace are yours to use and enjoy. Paul said, And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Jesus told the disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27).
Fear will destroy the things God wants you to have on the inside of you, and it will prevent the Lord from serving you. Through fear, the enemy can talk to you and bring darkness; but through faith, the darkness disappears because the light of God penetrates it and destroys it. Jesus said that none of the enemy’s powers can destroy you. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).
Paul said, Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). That means we are not to be anxious or worry about anything; and instead, we are to rejoice and be glad. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble (Psalm 31:7).
We can even rejoice when we are persecuted. Jesus said, Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven (Matthew 5:11,12). You can be blessed on the inside even when persecution is going on outside, but never let persecution get inside of you. You must always remember that you have the blood of Jesus working in your soul to take care of the troubles outside.
You are not to look down and be unhappy but to let the joy of Heaven flow. You have to let the Holy Spirit flow the joy that is in your soul into your mind, but some of you won’t let Him do that because you are so wrapped up with your troubles. You hold on to them without realizing it, so the Holy Spirit is limited; and you hinder Him from giving you His sense of peace. If you will let yourself go into the promises and the love of God, the Holy Ghost will flow that love to your mind.
The Lord Will Always Be with You
You never have to be afraid because with Jesus, there are no shadows in the valley of death for you. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil (Psalm 23:4). The Psalmist wrote that at a time when the shadow of death still existed in the valleys; but since Calvary and the Resurrection, there are no more shadows in the valley of death because Jesus paid the price.
Because of the curse, death will come in this life; but when the Lord takes a loved one home, we cannot let the storm stay on the inside. We may crumble into a million pieces, but we must keep the storm out so the Lord can put us back together again. We will have sorrow; but we will not sorrow as those who have no hope because we know that when Jesus comes, He promised to bring our loved ones with Him. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord (I Thessalonians 4:16,17).
Jesus came to give us victory over death, hell and the grave and over all the powers of the devil. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory (I Corinthians 15:55)? Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He said, And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18).
Jesus walked in the midst of trouble on this Earth, but He would not let it get on the inside. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He was in agony; but He said, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt (Matthew 26:39). That was a troublesome time, but Jesus used the grace of God and kept the storm out. He was telling His Father, “I will use your peace and courage that are inside of me, and I will never walk alone because you hold my hand.”
Jesus showed us how to keep trouble on the outside even when He was dying on the Cross. Although He was suffering agony, He led a soul to salvation. The thief on the cross to the right of Jesus said, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise (Luke 23:42,43).
Later, Jesus cried, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me (Matthew 27:46)? The storm was on the outside, but it was affecting Jesus at that moment because He did not realize that His Father would have to turn away from the sight of His death; and it was a shock to Him. In the natural, it seemed that the Father had turned His back on His Son in His time of trouble; and yet Jesus knew that He really had not.
Jesus Is the Healer
Your troubles may be physical, and you may have a deadly disease. You may have AIDS, and there is no cure for that through man; but the Lord has given me the cure for AIDS, and thousands have been healed through this Jesus ministry. You may have been told that there is no more hope for you; but take courage because the Lord is saying, I am the LORD that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26).
Don’t let fear take you over. Respond to what the Lord is saying and decide, “I have the life that is in the divine blood for this. I have His power with me that heals all manner of sicknesses and diseases; I have help from On High.” The Psalmist said, I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD (Psalm 121:1,2). When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2). Let the Holy Spirit lead you to Christ Jesus—the Rock of your salvation, the Rock of your strength and the Rock of your eternal life. He must be your all in all!
You can be healed of leprosy, cancer, heart trouble or anything else you have. When Jesus was on Earth, the Bible says He went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matthew 4:23).
Some of you have loved ones who are dying, but there is deliverance and divine healing to make them well. I went to the edge of the grave when I was just twenty-three, and I thought it was too late for me; but there was still time for my miracle, and I did not know it. Then one night, Jesus Himself came to me; and He gave me life and made me whole. He is so wonderful!
You Can Be Saved and Healed
Healing must first begin on the inside with the soul. If you need salvation, lift your hand right now and pray this prayer: Oh, God, save my soul! I am so sorry that I sinned against you; but I have come home, and I will serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, He has come into your heart; and He is yours.
Now, it is healing time for your body, and it does not matter what your need is because Jesus saves us from all of our sins and heals us of all our diseases. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Psalm 103:2,3).
The Lord is with you right now, and you can be healed; but you must live for God and give Him all the honor, the praise and the glory. The gifts in my life are God’s divine gifts, and they are operated by the Holy Spirit Himself; and I always give the Lord all the praise, the honor and the glory for what He does.
Lord, here the people are. I come with your supernatural gifts and with your divine blood; and you declare in your Word that with your divine blood, we are healed. As a servant of the living God and as your believer, I inject miracle, healing, blood power into their bodies that will destroy all those deadly diseases. Heal! in the name of Jesus. Heal! in the all-powerful blood name. Be thou made whole from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet. That is what Jesus did for me the night He came to me, and He has not changed. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Watch yourself get well; then write or email me about it. I love to hear what the Lord is doing for people all over the world through this Jesus ministry.
