When God Lays a Hand on You
by Ernest Angley
October 2016
God is laying His hands on many people in this end-time hour to help bring in His harvest. That means He is calling them, anointing them and ordaining them for this purpose. During Jesus’ earthly ministry, He ordained twelve apostles to be with Him and to do His work. And he [Jesus] ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach (Mark 3:14). And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him (Matthew 4:18-22).
Most of those Jesus called were just common people such as herdsmen, fishermen and farmers; and today, God is still using common people to do His work. God is laying His hand on many because we have to take this Gospel all over the world in this final hour. When God lays a hand on you and says, “Come, follow me,” that is the greatest calling on Earth; but unfortunately, many people do not treat it that way, and others are just not interested in God.
Jesus said, Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained [called and anointed] you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you (John 15:16). God has ordained every member of the bridal company, those of us who are living close to Him and have the Holy Ghost; and we can expect great and wonderful things to happen.
Never let anything become more important to you than God’s call, and do not let anything hinder you from fulfilling that call. The Bible says, Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1). The Lord calls this a race, so we cannot stop for anything. You have to lay aside all battles of the mind and any distractions no matter what form they come in.
Fill the Ark of Safety
The God of Heaven is reaching down and laying His hand on the Bride of Christ for His purpose. He has a need and a place for every one of us in the body of Christ, and Jesus is the head of that body.
The Lord told Ezekiel, I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge [a barrier, a protection], and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none (Ezekiel 22:30). It is so sad that God could not find one man.
God is looking for people to make up His hedge today and bring souls into the ark, Christ Jesus. There is room in that ark for all who want to get on board, but we have to get the people to the ark. In a vision years ago, God showed me millions of people; and He said, “Tell my people that if they fail, these will die and go to hell.” True children of God are the only ones who can rescue them, and that great responsibility should keep us going.
God needs us to bring souls into the ark of safety to save them from destruction. If God lays a hand on you to fill in any gap, consider it a joy; and always remember that you are doing it for the Lord’s glory. He gives each one of us at least one talent, and He expects us to use them for Him.
In Matthew 25, Jesus told a parable of three servants who had received talents from their master. The first two servants traded those talents and doubled what they had been given; but the third servant who had received just one talent buried it. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury (Matthew 25:24-27).
Burying the talents God gives you is an awful disobedience. You are to use your talents for the Lord; and when you do, He will give you more and more. When I see people who won’t use their talents for the Lord, I say, “Lord, give them to me and give me the strength to use them.”
God needs you, or He wouldn’t call you. When God lays a hand on you, you will either look to Him and His greatness or to yourself and your weaknesses. If you look to self, God will not be able to use you. The Bible says, Let the weak say, I am strong [in the Lord] (Joel 3:10).
Will You Follow God?
Think of all the prophets, saints, apostles and disciples down through the ages who obeyed God when He laid a hand on them. They were the ones He was able to lead by His mighty hand. Moses was one who did whatever the Lord commanded him to do, and God used him in unbelievable ways.
Moses gave up being considered an Egyptian to follow God. By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward (Hebrews 11:24-26).
Then Moses answered God’s call. When he was standing before the burning bush, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I (Exodus 3:4).
Moses took on a great responsibility when he agreed to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, but that is what the Lord had called him to do; and God let Moses know that His power would always go with him. While Moses was still at the burning bush, The LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand (Exodus 4:2-4).
Moses’ task was going to be gigantic, so the burning bush represented the power of the Holy Ghost that he would need. We also have the Holy Ghost fire and power from On High today, and we must let nothing stop us from taking this Gospel to the whole world in this final hour.
Later, God used Moses to lay hands on Joshua and call him to service. And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation: And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses (Numbers 27:22,23). And Joshua answered that call. Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of [godly] wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses (Deuteronomy 34:9).
Now, think of the many people God laid a hand on who chose not to follow His plan. They did not lay aside their weights or their mind battles of destruction, and they detoured away from Him. Demas was one who let the love of the world take him off the path God had called him to. Paul said, For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed (II Timothy 4:10). We have no record of Demas ever getting back to the Lord, and he is no doubt in hell today.
You must never turn away from God. He said, Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons (Deuteronomy 4:9).
Stay True to God
Amos was a herdsman, but God called him to be a prophet; and some people did not like the things he prophesied. Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court (Amos 7:12,13). However, Amos prophesied anyway because he knew God had laid a hand on him. Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel (Amos 7:14,15).
Then Amos went on to prophesy against Israel, and the prophecy took place. Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land (Amos 7:16,17).
God called Saul to be the first king of Israel; and at first, he was so humble that he told the prophet Samuel that he wasn’t worthy. And Saul answered [Samuel] and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me (I Samuel 9:21)?
At that time, Saul was noble in heart and had the humility of Heaven; and he even hid when the people were going to crown him king. And when they sought him, he could not be found (I Samuel 10:21). But Saul did not stay true to his calling, and he let the devil get in. Eventually, Samuel said unto Saul…thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel (I Samuel 15:26).
Paul, on the other hand, stayed true to God after he was called. And as he [Saul, who was later called Paul] journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks [sticks with pointed ends used to drive oxen]. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do (Acts 9:3-6). Let that sink deep into the innermost being of your soul so you too can say, “Lord, tell me what you want me to do, and I will do it.”
Answer God’s Call
You cannot be afraid to answer God’s call. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). Fear comes from the devil, and it will rob you and cause you to listen to idle talk. You cannot pray fear away; you have to seek more of the love of God because His perfect love casts out all fear. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear (I John 4:18).
Paul was not afraid; and he said, Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God (II Timothy 1:8). These afflictions are not sicknesses but persecutions; and you will have persecutions when you teach, preach and live the real Gospel of Heaven that Jesus brought.
It is a Gospel of grace, and that is what we are called to. Who [Jesus] hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began (II Timothy 1:9). No matter what means God uses to lay a hand on you, you must know that He has called you for a purpose. Thank Him for counting you worthy, and do all to His honor and glory. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power (II Thessalonians 1:11).
You must know in whom you have believed as Paul did. He told Timothy, For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day (II Timothy 1:12).
I always give God all of the honor and the glory for everything He does. I hear other preachers brag about the things they have done, but I talk about all that God has done through me and through the people He has gathered together to help me get this Gospel to the world.
I never have counted myself worthy of anything God has given me or used me for. I never would have asked Him for even one of the nine gifts of the Spirit, but He gave them all to me one by one; and the Holy Ghost operates them through me.
Through the gift of discerning, He reveals things to me about people in our overseas crusade services. Thousands of people attend those services, but each one is an individual to God; and He knows all about them. God’s discernment is what brings so many of them to their knees because they know I am a stranger and that only God could know those things about them.
I never thought God would take me as deep in Him as He has; but He spoke to me one day and said, “Think deep.” Then I found that thought in Psalms. O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep (Psalm 92:5). The world does not think deep, so you cannot think like the old you when you have been made brand new in Christ. You may count yourself unworthy to be used by God, but He makes you worthy through His blood and His grace.
Joseph Did Not Fail
Some think that God’s call will always be a call to preach, but that is not so. God laid His hand on Joseph to preserve the lives of his family and all of the Israelite people. When Joseph was a boy, his father, Jacob, favored him above his brothers; and his brothers became jealous. And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him (Genesis 37:4). It got to the point where they did not even want to look at Joseph, so they sold him as a slave to a company of men on their way to Egypt; and they never saw him again until many years later.
Joseph suffered much persecution in Egypt. At one time, his master’s wife tried to seduce him; and he had to run out of the house naked to get away from her. I am sure he was embarrassed, but then the woman lied about it to her husband; and Joseph was sent to prison. And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled. And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison (Genesis 39:19,20).
While Joseph was there, two of the prisoners had dreams one night that puzzled them; and God gave Joseph the interpretation of those dreams. God said that one of the prisoners was going to be killed for his crimes, and the other one was going to be released; and that is exactly what happened. Now, the one who was spared promised that he would put in a good word about Joseph, but he never did. Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him (Genesis 40:23).
Eventually, however, God began giving Joseph favor; and he rose to be second in power in all of Egypt. Then a terrible famine struck the land of Canaan, and Jacob sent his sons to Egypt to get food. Little did they know that they would come face to face with the brother they had sold so many years ago. And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt (Genesis 45:4). I’m sure that was a tense moment, and I know great fear must have come upon those brothers; but Joseph continued. Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life (Genesis 45:5). Joseph’s brothers must have cried when they heard that.
Then Joseph told them of God’s plan. For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing [of corn] nor harvest. And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God [That was a wonderful way to look at it.]: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt (Genesis 45:6-8). Their hearts must have pounded with both sorrow and fear knowing that they had sold such a godly brother into slavery.
So many things came against Joseph that could have discouraged and robbed him, but he stayed faithful to God; and he became more like Jesus than anyone else in the Old Testament. Joseph did not always know exactly what God was doing with him, and you may not always know the outcome of God’s holy callings on your life either; but you must be willing to be used of Him and remember that He called you for His purpose. He will eventually make that purpose clear to you as you give your life to Him and are willing to do anything He tells you to.
Chosen to Win Souls
When Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He set people free and gave us the gift of an eternal home in Heaven. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men (Ephesians 4:8).
The Bible says that all perfect gifts come from Heaven. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17).
Your calling is a gift. And he [the Lord] gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:11). God lays His hands on people in different ways and for different purposes. Why? For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). God has many different works He needs us to do, but we must let Him work through us. We must delight ourselves in Him and in all of His ways. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart (Psalm 37:4).
If you desire souls, the Lord will give you souls. I don’t want to live one more day on this Earth if I can’t win souls, and I am willing to spend and be spent for them. I don’t like to travel, but I will do it to win lost souls. I take salvation and the fullness of the Gospel to them with signs, wonders, miracles and healings.
Just going through the motions of living for the Lord and winning souls is not good. You cannot just show up for church, shake the preacher’s hand and let others know you are there. Your heart and not just your body must be in the right place, and you must have a pure and willing heart. For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me (I Corinthians 9:16,17).
God’s Will Must Come First
Is there anything more important to you today than fulfilling God’s will for your life? This is no time to put anything ahead of the Lord and His calling. He is depending on you to be everything He needs you to be so He can use you just like He used His Son when He was here on Earth. Jesus said, If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love (John 15:10).
When you keep the Lord’s love commandments, you will grow in grace and love and have all the protection and help you need. The Bible says, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Some people do not get more of their needs supplied because they won’t accept or obey what the Word, the voice of God, says.
To follow God’s holy calling, you must stay close to Him. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light (I Peter 2:9). Children of God are peculiar to the world, and some of you may even be peculiar to your own family; but that will not matter when you know that the Lord is working with you. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:13).
When the enemy tries to tell you that something is impossible or that too many afflictions go along with God’s call, remember God’s Word that says, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35). The word of the Lord endureth forever (I Peter 1:25).
The Lord visited me one day and told me that His Word has all the love, power, grace, peace and hope of Heaven in it; so you must hide it in your heart. Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11). Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word (Psalm 119:114). God approves of those who are in the Word. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15).
Suffer for Christ
Children of God are joint-heirs with Christ; we are equal with Him. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16,17). To remain one of God’s children, you must live holy and know the hope of God’s calling for you. The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints (Ephesians 1:18).
If you don’t know the hope of God’s calling, you will never endure the afflictions of the righteous. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all (Psalm 34:19). God can deliver you out of all your persecutions. Paul said, Persecutions, afflictions [not sicknesses], which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me (II Timothy 3:11). Persecution is good for what ails you, so you have to learn to suffer for Christ’s name’s sake.
We grow in God’s grace through persecutions, and Paul showed us that was true because there were times when he was tried above what he could handle in his own strength. For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life (II Corinthians 1:8).
Even when Paul despaired of life, he remembered the time when God had laid a hand on him and called him; and he knew God would always make a way of escape for him. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it (I Corinthians 10:13). You will be tempted and have to suffer, but God will give you strength to take more.
You cannot fail God just because you are tempted. When God lays His hand on you for something, He will enable you to do it with His help. Don’t ever let it be said that God called, and you did not answer. For many are called, but few are chosen [because they don’t answer] (Matthew 22:14).
God Will Supply
God laid a hand on a widow woman to help sustain the life of one of His prophets during a famine. And the word of the LORD came unto him [Elijah], saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee (I Kings 17:8,9).
When Elijah arrived, the widow woman was outside gathering a few sticks so she could make a fire to bake one last cake for her and her son before they would starve to death. Nevertheless, Elijah said, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah (I Kings 17:13-15).
The woman knew Elijah was the prophet of God, so she obeyed him; and God moved. And she, and he [Elijah], and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah (I Kings 17:15,16).
No matter how small or large your need is, God will provide for you. He will do the miraculous as long as you always remember to give Him all the praise and the glory. You must never be guilty of robbing God of His glory, and you must never rob Him of the money due Him either. The Bible says, Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8). Some people give an offering and call it tithing; but if you don’t pay ten percent of what you earn or receive, you are not tithing.
As you tithe and give to God, He will move for you in many ways that you don’t realize; but when you rob God of His tithes and offerings, your blessings will cease to flow. The Bible says you are like a man trying to fill up a sack with holes in it. Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes (Haggai 1:6).
The Lord’s blessings will also cease to flow if you rob God of His glory. You must want people to see that God is providing for you in miraculous ways because you said yes to the Lord when He laid His hand on you. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). Your light must shine today and show people the right way.
The Gospel Must Be Preached
The Lord’s overall mission is to send the Gospel to the world and bring in as many lost souls as possible before Jesus returns, and He lays His hand on people so they will help Him fulfill that mission. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, and that Gospel must be preached. Paul said, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16).
The Gospel is the true story of Jesus, of His teachings, of salvation and of the Kingdom of God; and when it is preached in its purity, it has power to change lives spiritually, physically and mentally. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17).
We must be willing to spread the Gospel because there are people who don’t have anyone to teach them the truth. That was the case with the eunuch in the book of Acts. He wanted to understand the Word, so the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went (Acts 8:26,27). God used the Holy Spirit to impress upon Philip the need to go toward Gaza; and he could not get away from it. When God tells you to do something, you have to be ready to move; and you can’t hold back on Him.
When Philip met up with the eunuch, he was on his way back to Ethiopia from Jerusalem where he had gone to worship. And, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship [But he didn’t get anything out of that kind of worship.], Was returning [home], and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus (Acts 8:27-31,35). After Philip had finished teaching the eunuch, the man wanted to get saved and baptized.
Jesus Brought Truth
When Jesus, the Son of God, came to Earth, He came preaching the Gospel with signs and wonders. And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people (Matthew 9:35). No case was too hard for Jesus then, and no case is too hard for Him now. The Bible says, Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
When God lays a hand on you to take the Gospel to the world, you have to be willing to give all. Jesus said, For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it (Mark 8:35). Then you will live forever. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life (Mark 10:29,30).
When God calls you, your flesh may want to shrink away; but the Spirit will anoint you just as He anointed Jesus when He was on Earth. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of Jubilee] (Luke 4:18,19).
Under the Law, every fiftieth year was the year of Jubilee. During that year, all those who had been sold into slavery were given their freedom; and people received their lands and possessions back. But since Jesus came and brought the acceptable year of the Lord, it is Jubilee every year; and we can be free all the time.
While Jesus was preaching and ministering to the people, John the Baptist was put into prison for the sake of Christ. However, he heard what was going on, and he wanted to know that Jesus was really the Christ. Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached (Luke 7:22). When John heard that, it was enough for him. Many people in that day believed when they saw the miracles, and it is the same way today. We preach the true Word in this ministry, and it produces miracles that bring people to God.
And he [Jesus] said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). Jesus commanded His disciples to preach the Gospel—not man’s gospel but the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man (Galatians 1:11).
God Called Paul
The Gospel completely changed Paul, and then he preached what he had received. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (I Corinthians 15:1,3,4). Paul also lived according to the Gospel. Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel (I Corinthians 9:14).
Paul knew that he had been separated unto the Gospel of God—the truth. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God (Romans 1:1). Through the truth is the only way to be separated from the world, to please God and to go to Heaven. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (II Corinthians 6:17). It is actually harder not to live for God than it is to live for Him because children of God can call Heaven any time for help.
You cannot count your life dear to yourself and pout when things don’t go your way. Paul said, But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24). Just going through the motions of living for the Lord without having vision for the lost will not keep you faithful when the going gets rough.
Paul was well-educated, but he preached the Gospel in simplicity so that all people could understand it. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect (I Corinthians 1:17). However, Paul warned people not to be deceived by the simplicity of it. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (II Corinthians 11:3).
Some people did not understand the truth because they were blinded by the god of this world. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them (II Corinthians 4:4).
Paul Never Compromised
After God had laid His hand on Paul, he always knew his calling; and his desire was to make the mystery of the Gospel known to all people and to preach it with boldness. He said, And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel (Ephesians 6:19). Paul made the Gospel known no matter what the cost was. Paul felt great love and urgency to preach the truth, and we must feel it, too.
Paul let nothing detour him from his mission. He went through many persecutions, but it just made the Gospel that much more special to him; and it encouraged others to be more bold with it. But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear (Philippians 1:12-14).
Paul preached without fear; and he knew there was hope laid up in Heaven for those who heard the truth, believed it and received it. For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel (Colossians 1:5). God trusted Paul to preach the Gospel, and he preached it without compromise the way God wanted it preached. Can God trust you with His Gospel? But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts (I Thessalonians 2:4).
No one could buy Paul off. For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God (I Thessalonians 2:9).
We are living in a time when whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13). But people cannot be saved unless they hear the truth. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things (Romans 10:14,15)!
No one can call upon someone they have not heard of and don’t believe in. That is why God is laying His hand on true children of God to take the Gospel to the ends of the Earth before the end comes. Jesus said, This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:14).
Jesus said He would come, and He will. If I [Jesus] go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also (John 14:3). Jesus said He is coming for those who are watching for Him. Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them (Luke 12:37). When you are full of the power of God, you are looking for and expecting Jesus to come.
Receive the Holy Ghost
The grace of God is abounding today for all those who are saved and have the baptism of the Holy Ghost. That grace is the whole favor of God; but if you are not baptized in the Spirit, you don’t have God’s abounding grace, and you don’t have what it takes to go in the Rapture. You don’t have to have the Holy Ghost baptism to go to Heaven, but you do if you want to meet Jesus in the air when He returns for His Bride.
The first evidence of the Holy Ghost baptism is speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance just as He did on the Day of Pentecost. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4). When people are saved, they receive love, grace, peace and hope; so the evidence of the Holy Ghost had to be a different sign and something people could not doubt.
You first must have a holy heart before you can have a holy tongue that the Spirit can use. Then when the Holy Ghost gets your tongue, He has the whole you; and He will speak through you in a wonderful language. You will never forget that experience because never before has anyone ever used your tongue but you. When He is speaking, that is God talk. Thus saith the Lord, Heaven is listening; and the Holy Ghost is rejoicing.
When the disciples were first baptized on the Day of Pentecost, a crowd gathered to listen; and although there were only two languages that everyone there could understand, the people in the crowd heard at least one of those disciples in the Upper Room speaking in the language of the region they were originally from. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this [the disciples being baptized] was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God (Acts 2:5-11). All the people were amazed at what they heard.
The Holy Ghost Brings Power
The Holy Ghost gives you power to work for the Lord. Jesus told the disciples, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8). Jesus then commanded them to receive the Holy Ghost. And, behold, I send the promise [of the Holy Ghost] of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49).
After the disciples received the Holy Ghost, divine miracles and healings began to take place among them. The devil could not stop them because they had power to trample devils underfoot. Jesus told them, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19). You can have that power through the Holy Ghost, too, so never let the devil worry you.
It took the Holy Ghost to prepare the disciples to preach the fullness of God. Then they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing everywhere (Luke 9:6). And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following (Mark 16:20). The Word has to be confirmed with signs and wonders because that convinces people it is true if they really want to believe.
When Peter was writing to people who were spread throughout Asia, he let them know they were getting the good news of grace and salvation from those who preached the Gospel with the Holy Ghost. But unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven (I Peter 1:12). Jesus had forbidden the disciples to preach without the Holy Ghost.
Paul preached with the power of the Holy Ghost. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance (I Thessalonians 1:5). That assurance comes through signs, wonders, miracles and healings. Again Paul said, Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ (Romans 15:19).
We must take on Heaven’s vision to preach the Gospel in its fullness the way God planned it to be preached. Then we must take that Gospel to the ends of the Earth, and we have just a limited time to do it.
The Spirit Is Everything You Need
Jesus knew it was so important to have the Holy Ghost that after He had ascended to Heaven, He came back to Earth for forty days and nights to teach the disciples about the Spirit. You must realize the importance of Him, too, and put forth an effort to receive Him. You will not stay saved if you don’t hunger and thirst after the fullness of the Spirit because it means you are rejecting the great Teacher and Comforter.
Jesus said, The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). The Lord also said that He would have to go away or the Holy Ghost would not come. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you (John 16:7).
When you receive the Holy Ghost, He becomes a part of you—your teacher, your guide and everything you need. He is also the Spirit of truth. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit is not just a spirit; He is a real person, and Jesus proved it when He referred to the Holy Ghost with personal pronouns seven times in that verse.
The Holy Ghost will anoint you for prayer and make intercession for you with groanings that you cannot utter. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:26,27). We should pray with faith and love and not have to fight and struggle to get a prayer answered.
We are in the last hour before Jesus comes, and untold multitudes will receive the Holy Ghost because it is the pouring out time of the Spirit. This is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh (Acts 2:16,17).
God is pouring out the Spirit on all flesh, but all people are not yielding even though He has been so patient in giving everyone a chance to know and accept the truth. Some people are so stone-hearted that they even despise God and don’t care if they commit the unforgivable sin and blaspheme against the Holy Ghost. Jesus said, Whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come (Matthew 12:32).
God Wants to Lay His Hand on You
You can be saved, delivered and set completely free through the Gospel today. The Bible says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9).
If you don’t know the Lord, say the sinners’ prayer right now: Oh, God, I put my trust in the Gospel of Jesus. I believe the truth of the Gospel. I believe Jesus died for me, and I will no longer be ashamed of Him. I confess Him now, and I will confess Him before others. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, you can say, Hallelujah, He has come!
If you were sincere when you prayed that prayer, Jesus has forgiven you. Only believe and never doubt it. Decide you are born new and that you will live a pure, clean, holy life. Walk with Jesus the rest of the journey; and one day, all Heaven will be yours if you treasure the Gospel all the days of your life. I am proud of everything about Jesus and the Gospel that He brought, and I am glad to be able to preach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ because it works!
Now, you can be healed just as the Lord has already set many people free. Children who were born deformed and the doctor said could never be well have been made whole. Some were born with just part of a brain, and the Lord gave them a whole brain. Now, they are intelligent children who are growing up in the spirit and the power of the Gospel.
This Gospel I am preaching to you is real, and it works. Jesus heals all manner of sicknesses and diseases, and you can be set free now. Entire families are being healed of AIDS through this Jesus ministry, and lepers are being made whole through the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; so get ready for your miracles.
Lord, I bring to you the sick and afflicted, the blind, the crippled, those who are paralyzed, those who are dying with AIDS and those who have leprosy eating the flesh off their bones. Oh, God, I bring them all to you for healing because I have brought them the Gospel message of miracles, healings and deliverance for all mankind. Heal! in the blood name of Jesus. Perform miracles in the all-powerful, blood name of Jesus! I curse all of the people’s diseases and afflictions, and I call the Gospel, healing power into their bodies. Be thou made whole in the all-powerful name of the Lord!
God’s power has gone into you if you believed that prayer, and that power works. Watch yourself get well and give God all the praise, the honor and the glory. God bless you. Write or email and tell me what happened to you.
Thus Saith the Lord
Yea saith the Lord, I am calling; I am calling. I need each and every one to help bring in the harvest; it is so very late. Will you bring them in? I will give you all the help you need, saith the Lord. It is within your reach; so just reach, and it is there for you, saith the Lord. Lift up your hands and reach now if you want the call of God to be yours. Let the Lord direct you as He has directed the saints of old, knowing that the grace of God covers everything.
