Valleys

Life on Earth is full of valleys—some are good and some are bad. If you don’t walk close to God, you’ll waste time in deep valleys that you have no business being in. You’ll waste the divine blood and all the divinity offered to you, and that’s not what God wants for His children.
When the Lord sends you into a valley, He’ll be in that valley before you ever get there; and His grace will go before you. When you find yourself in a valley, look around—if the Lord’s not there and His grace is not moving, then He didn’t lead you into that valley. You dug your own valley, and you’re in there by your own doing. When you’re in one of the Lord’s valleys, you’ll find the grace and power of God moving for you.
Don’t waste the blood—Christ’s great sacrifice—in needless valleys. The Bible tells you that you’re more than a conqueror when you’re in one of the Lord’s valleys. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:35-37).
The Valley of Human Needs
Some Christians want to live only on the mountaintops, but that’s not where the souls are—they’re in the valley of human needs. Jesus took some of the disciples with Him up on the Mount of Transfiguration, and they enjoyed themselves so much that Peter wanted to build three tabernacles up there on the mountain. And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him (Mark 9:5-7). Up on the mountain was no place to build tabernacles; that wasn’t God speaking. Instead, Jesus said, “We’re going down into the valley of human needs where we can help people.” In the valley of human needs is where you’ll find the sick and afflicted and the unsaved; it’s where the need for the blood is so great, and people must realize this.
Job’s Great Valley
Job was a good man, but he went into the deepest valley of his life by the will of God. God had blessed Job abundantly; but then He said to the devil, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil (Job 1:8)? God allowed the devil to really afflict Job—he was covered with boils, his children were all killed, his camels and sheep were destroyed, and his wife backslid and turned on him saying, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips (Job 2:9,10). Job needed his wife’s support so much at that time, but she was nothing but a curse.
In spite of all of that, God didn’t forsake Job; and he said, The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD (Job 1:21). When you can bless God in the valley, you’re headed for victory. The devil wants you to doubt God’s love for you, to think that He doesn’t care about you, that you’re useless to Him, that you must have done something wrong or that you’ve even sinned against Him. The devil will do his best to bring condemnation to you and to take all the joy and happiness out of you, but you can’t let that happen.
Walk with God
Job didn’t allow that; and he said, I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth (Job 19:25). What a revelation that was for Job when he was in such a deep valley. When his so-called comforters and friends showed up and accused him of sinning, he said, Behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high (Job 16:19). Job also said, He knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold (Job 23:10). I love to study Job, and he has been an amazing inspiration to me down through the years.
Like Job, I praise God in the valleys. I’ve been in some of the deepest possible; but I have always praised my way out, prayed my way out and fasted my way out. That’s the right way to come out; and in fact, that’s the way to get ready for all the valleys to come.
I never ask the Lord to keep me out of the valleys because valleys make us into who we need to be. They give us strength, power, love, joy, goodness, righteousness and holiness. Valleys are where God becomes real to us so He can walk with us and inside of us just like the Bible says He will. For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people (II Corinthians 6:16).
The Apostle Paul said, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me (Galatians 2:20). When you’re close to God and being led by the Spirit, you can cry, “He leadeth me by His great power!” When we follow the Spirit, He’ll teach us how to use divinity and how to find the will of God; and He’ll make our paths plain daily so we can walk in the fellowship of Heaven.
As children of God, the Father walks with us; Jesus walks with us, and the Holy Ghost dwells within us. Nothing can be greater than that! We’re never alone because God holds our hands; and as we cling to that hand, we’ll make it through. We’re not going to disobey or fail God because we’re headed for Heaven. Jesus is leading us, and we’re going to make it!
Don’t Talk Yourself into a Valley
You have to study how to keep yourself from going into the wrong valleys, and your conversation can put you in one when you say the wrong things. For example, always talking about sickness will keep you in the valley of sickness. When I was at death’s door at just 23 years of age, I didn’t talk about my illness; I wanted to be delivered from it. My conversations were about wanting to live and preach the Gospel, and that’s what I talked to the Lord about. I didn’t want people talking to me about sickness, and I still don’t. That’s idle talk, and the Lord said we will have to give account for every idle word we speak. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment (Matthew 12:36).
Be careful with what you say and what you promise. Some Christians don’t keep their promises, but I was taught that people are no better than their word. God’s Word is just as good as He is, and He is as good as His Word; and we must be the same way. We can study God’s Word and find out what He wants of us because His will is all laid out for us in the Bible.
I see people everywhere I go who don’t know the will of God; but you can know it through prayer, fasting and living in the Word. I know the will of God for me, and I know what He wants of me; but I’ve sought His way through many fasts, some going as long as 40 days at a time. When I fast 40 days, I close my case never to reopen it. I know I’ve reached Heaven and that the divine will of God will be done. When you neglect prayer, fasting and living in the Word, you will go into valleys you shouldn’t be in; but when I go into a valley, it’s because I’m in the will of God regardless of whether it’s a spiritual, physical or financial valley. Spiritual valleys are the ones that enable me to receive greater power from God and to go deeper with Him. I always want to go deeper into the wisdom, knowledge, grace and love of God.
Valleys of Sickness
I’ve had some very deep valleys, but each one has made me stronger. As I mentioned, I was dying at 23. If I ate, it felt like I was dying; and if I didn’t eat, I was starving to death. I watched my body go down to about a skeleton, and I’d suffered so long that it looked like God wasn’t going to heal me. I thought for sure I was going to die and that I had just a few days left. It seemed my faith was all gone; and in the vision, I could see myself in quicksand up to my waist and going down for the last count.
Then one night, Jesus came; and He made me whole all over. So much of His power shot into me that I didn’t have one doubt. Then He lingered that night to tell me that I’d go on a long fast; and when I came out of that fast, I’d have the power for the healing of the people. I knew I was going to live! The Lord Jesus had spoken, and I knew I couldn’t possibly die.
Later, I did go on that long fast; and when it came to an end, my wife Angel leaned over me and said, “Honey, do you have that power?” I said, “Oh, yes, I have it!” Did I feel it?—No, but I knew I had it through faith because God had said I would.
God’s Healing Power
We then traveled to another state for our next crusade, and I couldn’t wait to get to the people; I knew God would heal them and make them well. The first person who got healed in the opening service was a lady on crutches. She came before me; and in the name of Jesus, she was instantly healed and made whole. I held services there for a number of nights, and that lady left her crutches in the building the whole time because she wanted people to know what God had done.
From that point on, I knew I had the compassion of Jesus and that people would be healed everywhere I went. I knew little children would be made whole, and I’ll never forget the first miracle for a deformed baby. One side of the baby’s face and head was normal, but the other side was much smaller. There was such a crowd of people in that service, and the daddy held that baby for hours; but he had faith that his baby would be healed.
When he finally got to me, I took the baby and held it; and I asked God to make it whole. Then I watched; and it was just as if a gentle breeze blew over the baby, and then it was whole. The ugly side of the baby’s head that had been smaller suddenly came to normal, and it was just as beautiful as the other side. So many people in that area knew that baby, and the crowd passed it around and around. Everyone wanted to handle that miracle because it was so unbelievable to them.
In that particular crusade, there were such crowds that the people would have to gather early just to get into the building for the services. I was staying close enough that I could walk to the building; and one day, I met a man who was very angry and said he was going home because he couldn’t get in. I was very disappointed in him because he should have been glad that God was drawing and healing so many people. It’s no wonder that people wind up in valleys they shouldn’t be in. That man was in his own valley of grouchiness, and he didn’t stand a chance of getting a miracle. How sad when God was giving one miracle after another.
When you don’t pray right, act right and stay in God’s Word, you’ll dig your own valleys; but those kind are no good. Only prayer, fasting and living in the Word will keep you where you need to be. Then the Lord will be able to make such plain paths for your feet, and you’ll know without a doubt that you’re in the will of God.
I live in two different worlds—the miraculous and the physical—and I thank God that Jesus has made Himself so real to me. I never imagined I’d ever see Jesus; but I have seen Him many times—in my deepest valleys, on the mountaintops and in my crusades. The Lord also lets me see angels and the miraculous power of God; all I know is that I see as God sees. Then the Lord will take me over and tell me things that are about to happen. When I pray for people, the angel of the Lord is always by my side standing as tall as a man. He’s so real to me that at times I’ve whirled around and started to say, “Excuse me,” only to realize that it was the angel of the Lord.
The Valley of Death
When I lost my wife, Angel, it was the deepest valley I could ever be in. When you love somebody better than you love your self, you don’t feel like you can even go on breathing without that person. Angel was such a part of me, and I’m glad God didn’t let me know how many years I’d have to live without her. But the Lord was so good to me in that valley, and He let me know that it was His divine will to have taken her when He did. He said, “By taking Angel when I did, she’ll bring more souls into my Kingdom than if I’d left her with you.”
Shortly after Angel had been buried, I was crying my heart out around midnight one night when the Lord came to me and took me back into my life. It looked like a very deep canyon, and I couldn’t see my way. I knew that the only way I could have made it through was because I had been led by the Spirit of God. But on this night, the Lord lit that canyon up; and I could see. Then He told me that I could ask Him any question I wanted to, and He would give me the answer. I asked Him question after question, and I’ve never doubted the things God told me that night. I just said, “God, if I’ve ever believed you, I have to believe you now.”
The Lord comforted me so much through that great valley; and it’s hard to tell how many hundreds of times He said, “I am the Lord that walketh with thee.” At times, I may have been on the floor weeping my heart out; but then I’d stand up straight, and He’d dry my tears.
It’s easy to think that God doesn’t love you when you’re in a valley; but if you’re truly serving God, you’re greatly loved. I knew the Lord loved me; but one day, He actually came to me and said, “You are greatly loved.” You don’t know how much those words helped me in that deep valley. I had always known that God loved me, but to hear Him say it was marvelous indeed!
Let the Lord Lift You Up
Deep valleys like that will make you. I never thought I would ever be able to laugh again, but the Lord has given me so much laughter and joy. When I look around at a congregation of solemn-faced people as anointed music and singing are going forth, I have to wonder why they don’t seem to be affected. I can hardly sit still because my soul is just dancing with joy on the inside. The Lord said, O clap your hands, all ye people (Psalm 47:1). Make a joyful noise unto the LORD (Psalm 98:4). Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD (Psalm 150:6). The best time to do that is when you’re in the valley.
I never tell myself I don’t feel good; I don’t believe in talking down to myself. I have to live with and depend on Ernest Angley, so I’m going to keep him in good shape. I don’t talk myself into doubt, fear and sicknesses; I talk good things to myself, things that lift me up. Try it, and you’ll see that it will work for you, too.
I don’t go around with my head hanging down, but some of you will talk yourselves into valleys of despair. When I come out of bed each morning, I’m alive in the Lord. I don’t worry about the valleys because I’m ready for them. Don’t think about how deep the valleys are; think about the grace of God being with you. I’d rather be in a valley with the Son of righteousness shining His love down upon me than to be on a mountain peak in a storm of the devil. The Lord taught me how to live with divinity just like Adam did; and as long as Adam stayed there, he was all right.
It’s easy to go into disobedience, to doubt God and to have the blues; but if you’re holy and righteous, you shouldn’t have any blue days. I fill my days up with divinity, with the greatness of God and the happiness of Heaven. The Lord has made it possible for you to have the same great love that was in Eden and to know His will for you. He has also given us the wonderful fruits of the Spirit, and they’re far greater than any fruit that Adam and Eve ever had.
God Took Care of Elijah
Elijah lived in divinity, and he came on the scene saying, Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word (I Kings 17:1). Elijah didn’t get Ahab’s attention at that time; however when the rains stopped, Ahab searched throughout every nation trying to find Elijah but to no avail. The Lord was taking care of Elijah over by the brook. And the ravens brought him [Elijah] bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook (I Kings 17:6).
The stream eventually dried up, and the Lord told Elijah to go to a certain widow’s house. When he arrived, she was getting ready to bake one last, little cake for herself and her son; and then they would starve to death. But Elijah said, Fear not…but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son (I Kings 17:13). The woman obeyed the prophet of God. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah (I Kings 17:15,16). God didn’t fail her—that’s what obedience in the valley will do.
Be a Servant of the Lord
God never fails, but people do. When the soldiers arrested Jesus, Peter was there with his sword. He knew better than to cut off a man’s ear, but he wasn’t prayed up. Remember, he couldn’t even stay awake for one hour with Jesus during His last night in Gethsemane. And he [Jesus] cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour (Mark 14:37)?
How many times have you gone to sleep when Jesus needed you? I’ve made it a habit to put Him first no matter how tired I am. I’ve had many nights when I’ve been awake for hours while the Lord has taught me. I’m always learning more about Jesus, and I need Him so much because I serve so many people. I only travel to different countries for souls and to help people get deliverance, and I depend on Him to give me a special anointing for every one of my services. During those crusades, I stay in my room with the Lord until it’s time for a ministers’ meeting or a service because I have to have God to feed the people.
When the Lord first called me to preach, He visited me in such a definite way. I was crying as He spoke; and all I could say was, “I will, but I don’t know how.” However, my will was all He wanted.
The Lord never mentioned money to me, and I don’t preach for money. I have to have lots of it to take the Gospel to the world and to win souls, but I only take a very small salary. The Bible says, My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). My only bank account is in Heaven; and when I get there, I’ll find my account full of great dividends. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also (Matthew 6:19-21).
I’m headed for Heaven; but in the meantime, I’m headed for every country I can get to with the Gospel. Pentecostal fire burns upon the altar of my soul, and that’s why there are thousands of miracles and healings in my overseas services. I’m God’s witness, His instrument to use; and I’m doing His will. He tells me where to go and what to do, and I do it. I don’t follow my own theories or plans; I seek to make each day a wonderful one for the Master, and that’s why this Jesus ministry has been built in the divine will of God.
Elijah’s Great Valley
We can learn much by studying Elijah during one of his greatest valleys—after he had killed 450 prophets of Baal. And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beersheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers (I Kings 19:1-4). Elijah ran away and failed God when he had heard that Jezebel was coming after him. After killing the 450 prophets and seeing all that blood, I’m sure it was enough to have made him weak and sick to his stomach; and fear took him over.
Elijah was in a very deep valley, and he actually wanted to die; but the Lord sent an angel to cook for him. And as he [Elijah] lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God (I Kings 19:5-8). Angels are real, and that angel definitely cooked for Elijah. Then Elijah lived in the strength of those meals for 40 days. Some say he was fasting, but that’s not so. He was living on those meals, and I can’t wait to get to Heaven and find out what was in that food.
After those 40 days, Elijah came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah? And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave (I Kings 19:9-13). Elijah was finally on top of the mountain in a cave of the Lord, and he knew the will of God. He knew everything was going to be all right.
When Elijah had been under the juniper tree and praying to die, it was because of wrong believing. When the devil can get you down like that, it’s because you’re believing the wrong way, too…and that’s exactly what the devil wants you to do. Elijah had thought that everybody had kissed the mouth of Baal except him; but the Lord told him, Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him (I Kings 19:18). Although Elijah was a great prophet, he still had some wrong thinking at that time.
When you’re in a valley, you have to be so careful not to let fear take you over because the devil will try to scare you to death. He’ll try to make you think you’re going to get cancer, heart trouble or lung trouble when the Lord hasn’t promised you any of those things. His promises include good health, miracles and healings. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (III John 1:2).
Elisha Got the Mantle
Elijah had left that valley for good; and later, Elisha was walking along with him, knowing that Elijah was going to be raptured at any moment. Elijah asked Elisha if he had any requests, And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so (II Kings 2:9,10). That was all Elisha needed to hear, and he wouldn’t let Elijah out of his sight. When they got to the Jordan River, I’m sure Elisha would have jumped in and swum across if he had needed to; but Elijah just took his mantle and struck the waters. And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground (II Kings 2:8). That’s faith and the power of God.
They walked a little farther; and then suddenly, a chariot of fire came sweeping down for Elijah. Behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more (II Kings 2:11,12).
Elisha didn’t stand there feeling sorry for himself because he had received Elijah’s mantle. He rushed back to Jordan and struck the waters with it crying, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over (II Kings 2:14).
Believe the Whole Truth
The sons of the prophets were on the top of the hill watching all of this, and they knew that Elisha had the same power that God had given to Elijah. And they came to meet him [Elisha], and bowed themselves to the ground before him (II Kings 2:15). But the sons of the prophets did not believe everything, and they contended that the Lord didn’t take Elijah all the way to Heaven. And they said unto him [Elisha], Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send. And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not (II Kings 2:16,17).
They searched three days and nights for Elijah but couldn’t find him. Some people claim to have all kinds of faith just as these men did, but it’s the wrong kind of faith. The sons of the prophets had faith that Elijah was raptured, but they didn’t think God took him all the way to Heaven. God doesn’t do things halfway. I don’t want God to start taking me to Heaven and then dump me on a mountain somewhere; I’d think He had surely stopped loving me. Of course, the sons of the prophets came back worn out; and Elisha didn’t fail to tell them, Did I not say unto you, Go not (II Kings 2:18)? Elisha must have had a good laugh over that one.
David’s Battle
David knew how to overcome valleys even as a boy. When he was about 13, he went to the battlefield to give his brothers some food. But when he arrived, he found the entire Israelite army scared stiff. And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together. When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid (I Samuel 17:3,4,10,11).
David was used to having victory in the valley; he had already killed a bear and a lion. It was King Saul who was in a deep valley of his own at that time—a valley of fear. He was trembling all over, but he hadn’t always been like that. When he was chosen to be the first king of the Children of Israel, everything was in his favor. Saul was a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people (I Samuel 9:2). He should have been the one to have killed Goliath; that was the divine will of God. God had favored Saul with great power from Heaven and with wonderful talents, but he had lost the vision and the Spirit of the living God; and he had backslid.
Saul was unable to find anybody who would go and fight Goliath, but he knew that somebody would have to do it if Israel was to be saved from total shame. Then a soldier ran to Saul saying they had found a volunteer. And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him. And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth (I Samuel 17:31-33). Saul had never thought about a young lad volunteering, and he told David he couldn’t go; but David insisted.
When Saul knew that he had no other choice, he tried to give David his armor. And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him (I Samuel 17:38,39). Little David would have been a sight wearing big Saul’s armor. David knew that he had God and that he didn’t need that clunky armor.
Victory in the Valley
David was all God had to use; but David had a different spirit than the others, and God had anointed him and given him power. David’s young age didn’t make any difference. He was in a valley, but it wasn’t a weak valley.
And he [David] took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him. And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance. And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods (I Samuel 17:40-43). Goliath was really angry that they would send a young boy with only a slingshot after him, but God knows just how to insult people when they try to go up against Him. He reveals them for the fools and the idiots that they really are.
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand…for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands (I Samuel 17:45-47). And that’s exactly what happened. God and David won!
You Can Overcome
You must realize that you can win in the valleys, too, when the Lord is with you. I’ve won so many victories in the valleys—the valleys of fasting and the valleys of going many, many hours without sleep. I’ve won by crying and seeking to learn more about Jesus and to be more like Him so I can reach people all over the world.
I need God in those valleys; I have to have Him. He is my life and the strength of my heart. He’s the One who keeps my heart beating, the One who gives me blood-strength to overcome. And they overcame him [the devil] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony (Revelation 12:11).
I made God a promise that I’d give Him my life, and my life is all His. It’s always on the altar as a daily sacrifice to Him. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1). I don’t count this as a great sacrifice; it’s just my reasonable service.
We’re getting so close to the end of our journey, but there’s one thing I will hate about the Rapture taking place—I won’t be able to win any more souls. I don’t like to think about that because I love offering armfuls of souls up to the Lord. In our foreign crusades, thousands of people are saved, healed and baptized in the good Holy Ghost in just moments of time. They come out of witchcraft, voodoo and many other darknesses of the devil; and I can actually stand on the platform and watch as hordes of devils come out of the people and are taken away through God’s great power.
You’re Never Alone
God is doing so much in this last hour, and it’s time to know the will of God and to stay on our knees before Him. It’s time to have His greatness and to put Him first; you can’t ever lose your first love. It’s time to know that Jesus is knocking at our door every day because He wants to come in. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20). I open the door daily to my Lord, and you must do the same. He’s my best friend, and I love dining with Him.
Some people get so lonely when they don’t have others around them, but I feel the loneliest when there are people around me. I get weary being in a group of people who are laughing and talking because I find myself starving for the Lord, wanting to be alone with Him. I’m never alone when the Lord is with me, and He’s the best company I’ve ever found. He’s a true friend in time of need, one who sticks closer than a mother, father, brother or sister. Just yield to Him, and you’ll feel His loving arms around you like John the Beloved did when he rested his head upon Jesus at the Last Supper.
What kinds of valleys are you in today? Perhaps some of you have been sick for so long or been told that you don’t have long to live. Good doctors in all of their love and compassion may have done all they know to do, but it hasn’t been enough. Don’t despair because you can come out of that valley while I pray. God led me out; and He’ll lead you out, too, by His mighty power, love and divine blood.
With God by my side, I walk unafraid. I don’t accept fear because fear has torment. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear (I John 4:18). The Lord gives us such great love and power, and He promised that He’d always be with us. For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5).
When your finances look bad, you have nothing to worry about if you tithe and give unto God like He teaches in His Word because He has obligated Himself to supply all of your needs and to take care of you. Some people can’t sleep at night because they’re always worrying about what they’re going to do, but they need to trust God. Never say that you’re weak because the Bible says, Let the weak say, I am strong (Joel 3:10).
We can be strong in Jesus and in His power. Then you can come out of any valley just like the Lord brought Job out of his deepest valley. The Lord even gave Job twice as much as he had originally had. Why?—because in the valley he had trusted the Lord and praised God no matter how much he had suffered. Job never lost faith because he knew that the Lord’s eyes were upon him to do him good, and he knew his affliction came from the devil.
Come Out of Your Sin Valley
Do you know where your battles and afflictions come from? Do you know your Redeemer lives? Some of you may be on drugs and alcohol, and others may be bound with lust—you’re going to be destroyed and in hell unless you get out of that valley. The Lord gave me this message to let you know that you’re in the wrong valley, the valley of death; and I want to bring you out of there and take you into life. I want to take you into Heaven’s joy, peace, wisdom and knowledge, into Heaven’s understanding of what God’s will is for you. Do you want to come out?
In the holy, blood-name of Jesus, I command the foul devils that bind the people with drugs, alcohol and lust to come out! If you believe, they have to come out; and I command you never to crave your habits again. You can never go back to the old life; and now that the devils have gone out, you have to get Jesus on the inside or they’ll come back.
Pray with me: Oh, God, save my soul. Thanks for delivering me from devil possession. I will serve you, Lord, and I promise I’ll never go back to those things of the devil again. I’ve come out of the night and into your light, and I will never go back into the night. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in.
Leave Sickness Behind
If you meant that prayer, Jesus is yours; and now you can come out of your valley of sickness. No one is fit to live until they’re ready to die; but now that your soul is pure, the Lord wants you to live and walk the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Are you ready to be healed? Some of you may have been thinking that the Lord is going to let you die, but you must know that you can come out of that valley; and the Lord has sent me to help you do that.
Lord, here they are. Some of them are so nigh unto death. Some of them are dying with AIDS, cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, lung trouble, paralysis and leprosy. I bind their sicknesses and diseases in the name of the Lord. I curse those diseases through the blood of Jesus, and they have to go if they’ll believe with me like I’m believing for them. Heal! in the name of the Lord. Heal! in the blood-name of Jesus.
The healing power that came to me that night so many years ago is yours now. It got me well, and it’s given me such wonderful health for all of these years. It can do the same for you if you’ll trust in the Lord with all of your heart and walk with Him like the first Adam did before he sinned.
Continue to serve the Lord and know that every valley you have from this day forward must be one that is God’s divine will. Nobody has ever loved you like Jesus loves you, and nobody has ever cared for you like He cares. God bless you and may He walk every valley with you. Rejoice! Rejoice and know that Jesus is taking you to another mountaintop so He can use you in His service in a greater way than ever before to bring in more souls for His glorious Kingdom.
