Faith is a gift of God that comes only from divinity. It is not of man, so it works only through divinity and is strengthened only by divinity. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9).

God used Peter and John to bring healing to the lame man at the gate Beautiful. Then the people gathered around them as though they had the power to do that great miracle, but Peter let them know that was not so. The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus…And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all (Acts 3:13,16).

Peter and John didn’t stand in front of the crippled man that day and use their own human faith to make him whole because it could not have given that man perfect soundness. They were full of divine faith and the power of the Holy Ghost; and Peter simply said to the man, Such as I have give I thee (Acts 3:6).

Peter then served that divine faith to others. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith (Galatians 3:5)? You minister to others by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the greatness of God.

Only Divine Faith Works

Jesus called human faith “little faith,” and human faith hinders divine faith. The Bible tells of a time when Jesus and the disciples were out on a boat in the midst of a terrible storm. The disciples were scared to death, but Jesus was sleeping. They woke Him up in a panic, but Jesus wasn’t worried; and He said to them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm (Matthew 8:26).

The disciples were out on the stormy sea at another time as well, but Jesus was not with them. Then suddenly, He came to them walking on the water and said, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid (Matthew 14:27).

Peter’s faith went Heaven-high; and he said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he [Jesus] said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus (Matthew 14:28,29). Take special note that Peter actually walked on the water.

But when he [Peter] saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid [because he got his mind off of Jesus]; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt (Matthew 14:30,31)? Peter let his human faith take over, and he began to sink.

Human faith is always weak, even in the most devout people. That is why the faith God gives you is divine faith, and that is the only kind of faith that can bring victory over the whole world. And this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith (I John 5:4).

When you live by divine faith, you will go from faith to faith. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). Many people, and even Christians, go from faith to doubt, despair, fear, disobedience or other things that are not of God; and that is why they don’t get their prayers answered. They have hindered God because they didn’t have the real faith of God.

Divine Faith Comes from God

Where do you get divine faith?—from God. He has dealt a measure of faith to everyone that they are to use and live by. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly [having no ego], according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3).

One very important thing to remember is that you cannot produce divine faith in your life. Some people think they have to muster up faith when they need God to do something, but that is why they don’t get help. There is nothing you as a human can do to muster up divine faith; you have to give over to divinity.

The woman with the issue of blood didn’t try to muster up some faith for her miracle; she simply believed that by touching Jesus’ garment she would be made whole. And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him [Jesus], and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole (Matthew 9:20,21).

Her divine faith worked, and she was completely healed. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour (Matthew 9:22).

Faith in the Word

Faith that works is divine, and the Word of God is divine; so you can receive divine faith and have it strengthened by hearing the Word. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). Paul knew that; and he asked the Galatians, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh (Galatians 3:2,3)? Indeed not!

Paul also said, I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain (Galatians 2:21). You will become frustrated and quickly wear out if you try to produce the things of divinity through the weakness of your flesh.

Before Paul was saved, his faith rested in his own wisdom; but after his conversion, he lived by the faith of the Son of God. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God (I Corinthians 2:4,5).

Paul was so thankful for the grace and the faith of Jesus because that was the only way he was able to come out of his old life and receive a brand-new one. Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus (I Timothy 1:13,14).

Faith Brings Victory

The Bible tells us that a man brought his epileptic son to Jesus to be healed; and Jesus told him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).

The father was unsure of how to believe, but he didn’t try to work up his own faith. He looked to Jesus and cried, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him (Mark 9:24-26). The man looked to divinity, and divine faith healed his son.

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, so human efforts can never produce it or make divine faith work. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Perfect, divine faith comes only through the blood, the Word and the Holy Spirit.

Divine faith is the only faith that will overcome the world and give you perfect soundness in this life. There are times on life’s journey when you will have to climb mountains by pure faith; but when you seek God and make a faith road up a mountain, you can go back down into the valley with all the strength you need to do the work He wants you to do and to help those in need.

It doesn’t take loads of divine faith to move the mountains of this life. It takes just one little seed of divine faith to do a great work. Jesus said, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you (Matthew 17:20).

What Will Divine Faith Do?

The faith of God is life-changing, miracle-working faith that can take you from death to life. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20). But you can’t just use that faith once in a while; you have to live by it. Now the just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:38).

Divine faith does not worry. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven [and is no more], shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith (Matthew 6:30)? If God can provide for grass in the fields that eventually withers away, why don’t you believe He can provide for you?

Divine faith has no doubt or spirit of wavering whatsoever; it believes to see. The Psalmist said, I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13).

Divine faith does not reason with flesh. Jesus asked, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves (Matthew 16:8)? He also said, Why reason ye these things in your hearts (Mark 2:8)? Some people are always wondering about things or trying to figure things out instead of reasoning with God.

Divine faith doesn’t falter during fiery trials. Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you (I Peter 4:12). Divine faith rejoices no matter what is going on. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy (I Peter 4:13).

Grow in the Lord

You cannot just keep your divine faith in storage for a time when you might need it. You must constantly be using it and adding more and more divinity to your faith, or you will become weak and vulnerable to the enemy. The evil currents of this life will pull you in the wrong direction, and your life will become barren and unfruitful.

In nature, animals that are predators go after young or wounded animals as prey because they know such animals are weak and easy for them to catch. They know they won’t have much strength to fight back or protect themselves, and it is the same with your spiritual life. If you don’t keep adding to your faith, you will not grow in the Lord or go deeper in your walk with Him. Then your chances of being devoured by the devil are much greater.

To be strong in the Lord, you must leave your spiritual infancy stage and grow up in Christ. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ (Ephesians 4:15). But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen (II Peter 3:18).

Are you really growing in the Lord? Examine yourself and ask yourself these questions: Do you know any more about the Bible this year than you did last year? Do your feelings dictate your every move? Do you depend on others to teach and nurture you in the Lord? Is church the only time you have any communion with the Lord? Do you seek to know more about Jesus? If you are having trouble answering these questions, then you must get busy and earnestly begin adding to your faith.

Add to Your Faith

What are the things you should be adding to your faith? The Bible says, Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity [love]. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (II Peter 1:5-8).

Let’s break down these verses. Virtue is behavior that shows high moral standards and integrity, actions that are good, decent, righteous and pure. Peter said, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue (II Peter 1:3). The Word tells us what kinds of things God considers to be virtuous. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8).

Have you added virtues to your faith that others can see? Paul added much to his faith, and he was confident that others could see those things in him. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity [love], patience (II Timothy 3:10).

You must add God’s knowledge to your faith so you can become more skilled in handling every situation the way God would handle it. You may have a zeal for God; but if you don’t also have His knowledge, you will do things the wrong way. Paul said, For I bear them [the people of Israel] record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God (Romans 10:2,3).

Every spiritually healthy, born-again Christian should always want to know more about God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost; and that is why God gave us His infallible Word. You won’t find a richer, fuller or deeper source of divine knowledge anywhere. O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out (Romans 11:33)! There is no end to the knowledge of God. We will be in Heaven for a trillion years and still not know everything about divinity.

Add Self-Control and Patience

Temperance, or self-control, means doing things in moderation. The Lord wants you to be diligent in adding temperance to your faith so you will abstain from overindulging in unnecessary things and never lose your temper. Without temperance, you won’t be in control of situations; they will control you. The Bible says, Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand (Philippians 4:5). It also says, Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath (Ephesians 4:26).

There are many things you can do in this life that aren’t necessarily sin; but if you don’t use temperance and restraint, they will distract you from spending quality time with the Lord. And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares (Luke 21:34).

You must give up everything of the world, or this next scripture will describe you. And that [seed of the Word of God] which fell among thorns are they [the people], which, when they have heard [the Word], go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection (Luke 8:14). Do you have self-control when it comes to watching television, texting and using the internet; or do those things control you?

Self-control requires patience, and that is the next thing you must add to your faith. God is a God of patience, and He wants us to be like-minded. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 15:5,6).

Divine patience enables you to wait for things God has promised but are not yet seen. But if we hope [with divine hope] for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it (Romans 8:25). When things are coming against you, divine hope will help you to hold on until divine faith takes over; and only through divine patience will you not become easily discouraged when your answers don’t come right away.

Patience will help you to keep your soul in good spiritual shape. In your patience possess ye your souls (Luke 21:19). Your soul is the most valuable thing you have, and you must keep it holy until Jesus comes. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh (James 5:8).

Never Stop Adding

The next thing to add to your faith is godliness; and when you are godly, you are like Jesus. The Bible says you must lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty (I Timothy 2:2). It also says, Godliness with contentment is great gain (I Timothy 6:6).

Now, all of these wonderful attributes that God wants you to add are not just for your own personal benefit but also for the benefit of others. When you are just like Jesus, you will have brotherly kindness and charity toward others. Paul said, And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32). He also said, And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness (Colossians 3:14).

God is love, and you can’t be like God without love. Jesus said, By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:35). Do you love your brothers and sisters in Christ and lost souls enough to put them before your own wants and desires like Jesus did? The Bible says, Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another (Romans 12:10).

Are you really seeking to add all these things to your faith? The Lord wants you to because they will bring you into perfect love, grace, obedience and everything that makes you just like Jesus. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall (II Peter 1:10).

There is an anointing to be just like Jesus, and the anointing of God can break all your yokes of bondage. The yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing (Isaiah 10:27). Then you will be free, and you can rejoice in the Lord. Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice (Philippians 4:4).

Have Faith in God’s Promises

Adding to your divine faith is not enough; you then have to use it to hold on to the promises of God. Every one of them is necessary or God would not have given them; and without them, you would have nothing to put your divine faith in. A promise is a pledge of assurance, and God’s promises are the best assurance you will ever find because every promise of His is true. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us (II Corinthians 1:20).

God’s promises are not just words to make you feel better; they are pathways that lead you into the divine things of God. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (II Peter 1:4).

God wants you to take on the qualities and attributes of His divine nature through faith; and when you do, you have to act like it and live holy. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (II Corinthians 7:1).

Since Adam and Eve sinned, all people are born in sin and iniquity; and only by being born again in Christ can you once again have the divine nature God intended you to have and be changed into the image of Christ. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass [a mirror] the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord (II Corinthians 3:18).

God’s Promises Are True

You can read the promises of God all day long; but in order to receive any one of His promises, you must embrace it by faith and see it being fulfilled ahead of time. Then you will experience the divine outcome of that promise. Unfortunately, many Christians don’t consider the promises of God like they should, and that is why they never get very far in their walk with God.

God’s promises must be more important to you than the air you breathe or the food you eat, and you have to live by faith and promise every day knowing that God will never fail you. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10).

Without faith, you will back away from God’s promises when the Bible says, Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (Hebrews 10:23). You may not receive the fulfillment of a promise right away, but that period of waiting does not change the promise. Just continue on in faith believing, and you will receive the benefit of that promise. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise (Hebrews 10:36). Divine faith will always tell you that everything is going to be all right.

Through faith, Abraham waited 25 years for his promised son to be born. So, after he [Abraham] had patiently endured, he obtained the promise (Hebrews 6:15). You must patiently endure, too, or the wait will seem too long; the problem will seem too big, and the circumstances will seem too severe. Then it will be easy for you to give up.

Divine Faith Enables You

You can hold on to the promises by faith and be made partakers of God’s divine abilities, or you can let go of His exceeding great and precious promises through fear and unbelief and go no further than the weakness of your flesh. Hebrews 11 is the faith chapter; and in it, you can read of many things that came about through the faith of the saints of old. Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection (Hebrews 11:33-35). They did it because they had great faith in God and divine hope for a better resurrection to come.

Like Abraham and those saints, we need to be strong in faith and believe God will perform all that He has promised. He [Abraham] staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform (Romans 4:20,21). Abraham didn’t even stagger at God’s promise; and he gave all the glory to God.

Faith to Be Saved

If you are unsaved, I bring you a promise of salvation and redemption. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21). Salvation is for all who will put their faith in it and accept it. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26).

God wants you to become a new creature in Christ so you can walk like Him, talk like Him and act like Him. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17).

Pray this prayer of salvation: Oh, God, I am a sinner. I am so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I am going to serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe in the divine blood of Jesus, and I believe He died for me. I believe that blood washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in. If you believed that prayer, Jesus has come, and you belong to Him.

Faith for a Miracle

Now, it is time to receive a miracle. The Bible says, For I am the Lord that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26). It also says, With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Put your faith in those promises and let them light up for you right now. They will bring you out of that wheelchair and out of that sickness. They will take you from the arms of death into the arms of life.

Jesus asked an impotent man who had been in that condition for 38 years, Wilt thou be made whole (John 5:6)? And the man was made whole from that same hour. Jesus said to a man who had just been told that his daughter had died, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole (Luke 8:50). And his daughter was raised from the dead. Divine faith can make you whole if you will only use it and believe.

Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you—those with AIDS, cancer, diabetes, paralysis or any other disease or affliction. Nothing is too hard for you. Lay a healing hand on them. From your supernatural gifts of miracles and healing, your power will flow into them in the name of your Son, Jesus. Heal! in the holy name of the Lord. Heal! in the all-powerful name of Jesus.

Feel the healing power flowing to you now. Be thou made well!

Let this be the cry of your heart today: The Lord promised, and the Lord cannot lie. The Lord is my strength, my high tower, my buckler, my all in all! My trust is in the Lord! Never forget that God promised, and hold on to His promises by faith.

The Promise of the Holy Ghost

Now, you must put your faith into action and go on to claim the promise of the Holy Ghost. That promise is not just for certain people; it is for everyone. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:39). The Lord is calling everyone to receive the Holy Ghost before Jesus returns because you cannot meet Him in the air without being filled with the Spirit.

Jesus said that the Holy Ghost is power from On High. Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49). You must have that power to make it in this life and to win the lost at any cost.
