The Word Confirmed
by Ernest Angley
January 2007
The Word can be preached, talked about, but it still has to be confirmed. If the Word is compromised by false doctrine, it’s not the whole truth, God won’t confirm it. But when the whole divine truth is preached in divine love, faith, grace, and goodness, it’s confirmed with signs, wonders, miracles and healings. If you aren’t seeing signs, wonders, miracles and healings, ask the question Gideon asked: And Gideon said unto him…where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of (Judges 6:13)? Where are the miracles in churches today? A church with the favor of God will have miracles and healings. Without compromise the minister will preach the Word, live it and tell the people that God will do what He has promised.
The Word of God is the faith of God; I preach the Word and I act on it. If I can get you, as well, to act on it, you can have your miracle as long as you don’t let your faith waver. The greatness of the Word is awesome!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). God cannot be separated from His Word. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made (John 1:2,3). In the beginning, God created man and woman, and they were excellent beings—until they turned themselves over to the devil and went to the tree of death.
Two Trees
In Eden God placed a tree of life and a tree of death. God didn’t want man and woman to be zombies, so He gave them free choice. But God warned: Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:16,17). Did man and woman listen?
Eve listened, but it was to the devil who whispered, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (Geneses 3:1-5).
Although God had told Adam and Eve they would die if they ate of the tree, the devil said all would be fine if they ate. So they ate the fruit and died spiritually and later physically. Because of their disobedience, the whole human race, now born in sin and iniquity, is under the hand of death. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
The Light of Life
The light in Jesus confirmed that He was the Son of God, for the Bible tells us that the people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up (Matthew 4:16). In him [Jesus] was life; and the life was the light of men (John 1:4).
Some people don’t want to see the light, but that’s their choice. Although we can’t force them to look at the light, we’ll take the light to them. Twenty-four hours around the clock we’re shining the light all over the world. All who come to the light find life eternal, but those who will not come find death.
John Saw the Holy Ghost Descending
John the Baptist was told that upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost (John 1:33). It was a message that would be confirmed: And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he [John the Baptist] saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Matthew 3:16,17).
At times John the Baptist wasn’t sure Jesus was the Son of God. Even when in prison and waiting for death, John needed to hear one more time who Jesus was. Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me (Matthew 11:2-6). The signs and wonders confirmed to John that Jesus was the Son of God. John’s disciples brought back the right message. But what if there hadn’t been any signs, any wonders?
Jesus, Our Example
Immediately after Jesus received the Holy Ghost He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to fast forty days and nights. As the Son of God, Jesus didn’t need to fast forty days and nights, He didn’t need to be baptized in water; but He had put Himself in our place when He became our elder brother and took on the fashion of a man. Jesus carried all the burdens of the human race, all the weaknesses of the flesh to show us how we could overcome.
As our example, Jesus fasted; He said His disciples would fast. Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not? And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast (Matthew 9:14,15). Later Jesus’ disciples did fast, and they received the power of the Holy Ghost that confirmed what they taught.
Thirteen Claims
Jesus made thirteen great claims of being the Christ, the Son of God. Although these claims were recorded some years ago in a Giant Little Book, they are so valuable I want to bring them to you again. Every one of these thirteen claims is confirmed in a definite way by Heaven. They make my soul leap within me!
Claim 1: Jesus declared that He was the only begotten Son of God. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16-18).
If you don’t believe in the divine nature of Jesus’ blood, you don’t believe in Jesus. Those who claim to be of Jesus but don’t believe in the virgin birth are none of His. If you don’t believe in the blood you are condemned before God, condemned to eternal damnation. Were divine blood not to back up the name of Jesus, His name would be just a name and nothing more. But divine blood does back up that name, the divine blood of the divine Son of God.
Claim 2: Jesus declared that He was the same as the Father. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father (John 14:9)?
Claim 3: Jesus claimed to be the Messiah. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he (John 4:25,26). If these claims are not true, you can forget about Jesus, forget about eternal life, about being resurrected, about the soon-coming of the Lord, about ever having peace and eternal life with the Lord in Heaven. Jesus went on to say, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life (John 5:39,40).
Claim 4: Jesus claimed to be the Redeemer. Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28).
Claim 5: He claimed to be the Savior. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:9,10).
Claim 6: Jesus claimed to be sent of God. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him (John 3:17,34). God’s Spirit—all of it—was available to Jesus, everything of God.
Claim 7: Jesus declared, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). If Jesus didn’t have divinity in Him, that would have been a false claim. No one can receive salvation any other way than through Jesus.
Claim 8: Jesus claimed He was the forgiver of sins. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee (Mark 2:5).
Claim 9: Jesus claimed to be the resurrection and the life. If this claim was false, then Jesus would be the false Christ, but it was not a false claim. Jesus said, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25).
Claim 10: Jesus claimed to be the final judge of all nations, tribes and people, judge of the wise and unwise, the quick and the dead. And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats (Matthew 25:32).
Claim 11: Jesus claimed to have all authority and power in Heaven and on Earth, but for His claim He was called a blasphemer. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18).
Claim 12: Jesus claimed He would always be present with His disciples. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Matthew 18:20). Through the blood, Jesus will meet with you when you gather together in His name. Come in the power of His blood and you will be victorious.
Claim 13: Jesus claimed He would come the third time. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other (Matthew 24:30,31). Jesus would have to be divine to come in glory with all the holy angels with Him.
If you can’t accept all of Jesus’ claims, you are left out of His Kingdom. If you accept all of them, however, you are one of His children. All you have to do then is act out your faith, and Heaven will be yours one day. Accept these thirteen claims, believe them, abide in them and the blood will work for you.
Those Who Don’t Believe in Miracles Don’t Believe in God
The ministry of Jesus began with a miracle, yet people who claim to have Jesus fight His miracles and healings, fight the healing ministry. They don’t really have Jesus, the very Son of God, but a Jesus of their imagination. If they had Him, they would believe in His miracles. Those who don’t believe in miracles don’t really believe in God.
There is trouble in our schools, in our nation because so many people don’t believe in God. The Bible has been taken out of our schools; Christians should have risen up against it, but not enough did. Even a well-known Christian leader said that taking the Bible out of the schools was a good thing. A good thing to take the Bible away from children? How could that be good! He never received the Holy Ghost baptism and, unfortunately, didn’t seem to think children in school needed the Word of God.
The Bible didn’t harm children when I was in school. We didn’t have crimes or teachers fearful for their safety. Our parents didn’t have to worry about us when we left home for school. The teachers were able to give us good discipline, to punish us if we needed it, and parents didn’t rise up against discipline in school. The Bible teaches discipline for children who need it. Proverbs 13:24: He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Proverbs 22:15: Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. You will hate what the child without discipline grows up to be.
Some parents don’t even want their children to sing Christmas carols. No wonder children are giving themselves over to the devil, going down the road to destruction. So many of our young have no hope for tomorrow. They don’t see God in their homes; they don’t see Him in their churches, in their schools; they don’t see Him anywhere. The devil makes them think they can commit suicide and be out of the stress of this world. Not so. They’ll be in the death world called hell, a horror worse than anything they face here on Earth.
The Word Confirmed Draws People
Again and again the Word is confirmed in these scriptures. America has had her chance with the Lord, and now the Lord is sending the Gospel to the heathen in this last hour and they are accepting it. They’re ready for the Word of God.
In my overseas crusades acres of people will stand for hours just to hear the Word of God. Why? They hear the pure Word preached and see it confirmed with signs, wonders, miracles and healings. The Word brings people out of witchcraft, voodooism and other darknesses of the devil. People see their deaf and dumb healed on the spot; they see crippled ones made to walk.
God Heals AIDS and Other Death Diseases
Through medical science there is no cure for HIV/AIDS, but thousands are being healed through this Jesus ministry. I preach that the blood will heal AIDS, and it does. Day after day letters arrive at the ministry telling that the Lord has healed people from AIDS and that the miracle is verified by their doctors. God had healed many through preachers using the blest cloth. One minister from Ghana wrote to say that in his service ninety people were healed of AIDS after he prayed for them using the blest cloth. In another country, Malawi, a minister wrote that forty were healed of AIDS through a blest cloth one Sunday morning.
The anointing, the gifts of God are manifested in my life, and the Lord confirms them. As the gifts of the Holy Spirit are manifested, people are delivered. I touch the cloths with the miracle anointing power of God before they are sent out, and the anointing is what heals, just as it healed when Paul used the same method. And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them (Acts 19:11,12). Through the blest cloth people are healed of all kinds of death diseases just as though I were there laying hands on them.
The Lord has different methods of sending His power to the people, and He is going to confirm His Word regardless of the skeptics’ complaints.
To God Go All the Honor and Glory
From different states and nations people gather at Grace Cathedral because the signs, wonders, miracles and healings are here. Over twenty-five years ago God told me I was to go on television, that I would televise His miracles, for He wanted people to see Him at work. I’m careful to always give Him all the honor, the praise and glory for what He does.
I preach that God does not change. I preach that He heals, that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, and the Lord confirms it. He has confirmed it in many lives as people with cancer, diabetes, heart or lung trouble or any other kind of disease or affliction are healed by the hand of God. Many are alive today because they heard the Word and saw it confirmed. They have that miracle or miracles working in their body, for it’s the will of God for people to have good health, to have healing from Heaven.
The Greatest Healing
The Lord has placed healing in nature, but the greatest of all healing is divine healing straight from Heaven that comes through divine blood. Jesus became our sickness bearer as well as our sin bearer; He is everything to us if we let Him be, and He confirms it when we believe it. You must believe in His healing for it to be confirmed. Jesus said, And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18). The manifestations will be there.
Jesus’ ministry began and the first miracle was confirmed when He turned water into wine. Fill the waterpots, He told the servants (John 2:7). They filled the pots with water and served wine from them—and it wasn’t wine that made people drunk. Jesus didn’t come to destroy people with alcoholic drink. The Bible includes drunkenness in the works of the flesh. Drunkards will not get into Heaven. What makes a drunkard? The first intoxicating drink. The Bible tells us to abstain from all appearance of evil (I Thessalonians 5:22).
Salvation Comes through the Blood
Receiving the born-new experience is another mark of Jesus being the Christ. Nicodemus came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:2,3). Nicodemus wanted to know how he could enter his mother’s womb and be reborn, but Jesus was not talking about a physical birth but a spiritual birth that makes people brand-new creations.
Jesus came to make sons and daughters. If you be in Christ, you are a new creature. When I received salvation I became new. I came to the altar a sinner and went away a new creation, born again. I left the altar that night without any sin in my soul; I was free and nothing could convince me that I wasn’t. I had been in bondage for years, but now I was free to serve the Lord in His holiness, in His truth, in His righteousness. Jesus, the second Adam had become my Savior Lord and Master.
God’s Healing Power Works
Jesus confirmed His greatness as the Son of God when He walked the waters of the stormy deep. Peter tried to walk the waters; he walked a little, but then he began to sink. Not until Peter was baptized in the Holy Ghost did he walk the waters of life for many others. He didn’t compromise the Word, and the Holy Ghost confirmed it. When you preach the truth, the Holy Ghost confirms it. I declare that the Lord will heal you and He does; He does what no other power can do. We know His healing power works. We love to see people getting out of their wheelchairs, love to hear the once-blind crying, I can see! I can see! We love to see people healed who come to the service deaf and dumb. People return to give their testimonies of what God did for them, confirming the Word.
Nathanael Would See Greater Things
Nathanael couldn’t believe the Christ had come when he heard the news. Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel (John 1:45-49).
When Nathanael heard about Jesus, he doubted that any good thing could come out of Nazareth. Then the Lord discerned him just a little, telling him He saw him under the fig tree, and Nathanael realized he was talking to the Son of God. Jesus told Nathanael he would see greater things, for that was just a little confirmation that Jesus was the Christ.
The Lord knows everything about you. People are amazed at the knowledge the Lord gives me about them when He takes me back into their lives to reveal the effects of a childhood injury. That old injury is now the basis of pain later in life; the information comes through the gifts of discerning and knowledge together. When the people hear the cause of their problem, their faith rises and they accept a miracle.
I depend on God. It’s not what I think or feel, it’s what God tells me about a person. The knowledge is used for edification, confirming the greatness of God and His mighty mind for people today, the mighty love of God, the mighty grace.
Sports and Politics Make Church Dull!
The dullest things are talked about in churches today: sports, sports or politics, politics. Why come to church to hear about sports and politics? If that’s what you want to hear about, you’ll be disappointed if you come to Grace Cathedral. We’re here to worship God in Spirit and in truth. We’re here to sing the praises of God with the joy of the Lord.
You don’t know who to vote for? Then get right with God and let Him let you know how to vote. Seek the Spirit, not people, to take you over. It’s the thoughts of God that bring healing and deliverance to set the captives free. Jesus came to set the captives free.
The Holy Spirit is alive; we welcome Him and want Him to have His way. He brings sinners to the Lord and helps people release their faith to receive the miracles they need. He quickens, enlivens people, gives life to sick bodies.
Angels Minister
If you are alive in the Spirit, you enjoy the blessings of God and His old-time power; God is real and angels minister. Angels…are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14)? The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them (Psalm 34:7). Since angels worked in a great way even before Calvary, imagine how much more they will work after Calvary.
Angels come into these services to minister to the people. I never have a miracle service without the angel of the Lord standing by my side directing me. He tells me where the miracles are taking place, what is happening. He lets me know things about people that I need to know in praying for them. On the platform praying for the sick, I’m in two worlds. I’m lifted up into a spiritual world and all I can tell you about it is that I just see as God sees, hear as God hears.
Angels will come into the congregation touching and healing people and setting them free. The Bible upholds the ministry of angels, but people walking afar from God call it fanaticism. I call it the Word of the Living God being confirmed. I open my Bible and it’s all there, angels working among men. I don’t look into human minds to understand the Bible; I depend on the Holy Spirit to give me understanding of it.
The Bible means more than life to me; it gave me real life. The Bible told me about my passport to Heaven, and it brought faith for my great miracle when I was so close to death many years ago and thought all faith was gone. Do you think I would call any of that fanaticism? Of course not!
I love the Word of God; my spirit caresses the Word. I have no trouble believing in all God’s signs, wonders, miracles and healings. I believe that Jesus Christ is the very Son of God, and through the blood that He brought we are sin-free sons and daughters of God on our way to Heaven. I know that all who committeth sin are of the devil, but when you are born-new, you must no longer sin or else you will lose your precious salvation.
Sin No More!
Jesus tells us to sin no more, and He would never tell us to do something impossible. Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:14). And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more (John 8:11). Living in righteousness and holiness means no sin is in your soul. You’re either righteous or you’re unrighteous. You’re either holy or you’re unholy. The Word of God lives; there is no need to deny it, for if you do, you will have to face it on Judgment Day. Why not face it now?
Be clean and holy before God, face His Word. Without condemnation because you have Jesus, embrace the whole Word of God; be baptized in the Holy Ghost just as those in the Upper Room were on the Day of Pentecost. We have the same Holy Ghost; we have the same power—be excited about it! The world never gave this much excitement. We praise God with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Nothing can stop us as we rejoice in Him and praise His holy name.
Running with the Gospel to the World
One day we will be going up to Heaven with a shout, but now we’re running all over the world with the Gospel like the woman at the well who got the message from Jesus and started a city-wide revival. We’re not going to stop now; we have no time to spend with the skeptics, the unbelievers. We belong to the believers, and signs will follow. Just as the ministry of Jesus was confirmed, so will our Jesus-ministry be confirmed.
Don’t you feel mighty close to Jesus, feel His blanket of love around you now? Trust Him, knowing everything will be all right for you. What a wonderful feeling we have walking in the sunlight of God’s love and the fellowship of His grace! We know He is with us, Emmanuel. We’re shouting to the whole world: Come and see! Come and see! Come and see the One who delivered us: Jesus! He’s the most remarkable being we’ve ever met.
Join with us in prayers, fastings and holding up holy hands. Join our soul-winners’ club, the Ninety and Nine club, and be a soul winner. We’re winning thousands every week for the Lord. We don’t partake of the things of the world; we’re not a part of them. When we found Jesus we left the world behind. We found the Pearl of Great Price and we sold out to have Him. Jesus is ours; we’re more than satisfied, for He is the satisfying Christ. The Lord, His joy, His peace, bubble up into life everlasting on the inside of us and we’re happy in the Lord.
Pray the Sinners’ Prayer
Help me pray for the lost all over the world. You who are unsaved, join in this prayer, and the Lord will save you. Oh, God, I need help. I do believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He died for me and I will live for Him. I believe in His signs, His wonders. I believe all His Word. He said if I would confess my sins He would forgive me and cleanse me from all of them. I believe, oh, I do believe that the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in, Jesus!
If you meant that prayer, now Jesus is yours and you are His. The joy bells will ring in your soul for time and all eternity. Serve the Lord. Walk with Him in righteousness and holiness, and one day all Heaven will be yours.
Our God Is a Healing God
Oh, Sick One, Afflicted One, you who are nigh to death: I know what it means to be at death’s door and think you don’t have but a few more days left, and you want to live. I hear your cries. You with AIDS, you know you’re dying, but now I’ve brought the tree of life to you to get you away from that tree of death. Go over what I have told you in the message: You can be healed of AIDS, cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, lung disease, leprosy, strokes or anything else you’re afflicted with. We believe in good doctors, good hospitals, good medicines; but there comes a time when those things are not enough. Doctors could tell me what was wrong with me when I was so ill, but they couldn’t heal me. It took Jesus to heal me. Don’t give up.
Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you. You’ve endowed me with your gifts. Using this instrument of clay, you pour out your great miracle power, your great love to heal the people. It’s your will for them to be healed, cured and to serve you in the beauty of holiness the rest of their lives. Heal! Heal in the blood name of Jesus! Heal in the all-powerful blood name!
That healing power is flowing; it’s in my eyes in a great way. This place is filled with the glory of God and I’m looking at it. I hope that glory has come to where you are. God is everywhere; feel His presence, and keep that presence with you. Think on the blood, the divine blood of Jesus. It will heal you; it will get you well; then write to tell me about it. God bless you, and let His Word be confirmed daily in your life.
