The Whipping Post
by Ernest Angley
January 2010
I spent hours in the presence of the Lord as He taught me about the whipping post, and there is so much you need to know about it. The Lord took me back to the Old Testament and revealed that the whipping post was established thousands of years ago, even before Christ came. He took me on an amazing journey through the Old Testament and into the New Testament to show me the whipping post, what it stands for and the power of it. It was the beginning of the penalty that would have to be paid for our deliverance. We were captives, slaves of the devil; but God made it possible for us to be set free when He sent Jesus. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
The Old Testament is filled with types, shadows and mists; and they point us to living realities of today. Types and shadows were plain when they occurred and brought temporary results, but they didn’t last because they weren’t the real thing; they only represented it. When you step over the great threshold and fall into the arms of Jesus, you will find living reality—the real whipping post, the real crown of thorns, the real Cross of victory and deliverance.
Blood on the Doorposts
We find the first type of the whipping post in Moses’ day. The Israelites were told to kill a lamb without blemish and spread its blood on their doorposts or death would come to their homes. In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year…and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:3,5-7,12,13).
And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle (Exodus 12:28,29). Not only did death pass by the Israelites, but when they ate the lamb’s body, they were all healed. He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes (Psalm 105:37).
The lamb without blemish was a type of Jesus Christ. Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29). Years later, Christ would pay the ultimate price at the real whipping post so that those who had the divine blood that was spilled there on the doorposts of their hearts could have eternal life. The whipping post would be a victory for you and me.
Deliverance at Last
And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said. Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also. And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men (Exodus 12:30-33). The death angel had come; but the Israelites were spared by the blood of the sacrificial lamb, an Old Testament type of the whipping post.
The time finally came for Moses and the Israelites to leave Egypt, but they had so many persecutions along the way. Pharaoh’s army went after them to try to kill them; but the Lord said, Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD (Exodus 14:13). Then the Lord opened up the waters of the Red Sea. And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left (Exodus 14:21,22). You don’t ever have to be afraid when you follow the Lord because He’ll make the way for you.
Finally, the Israelites were free, and they had crossed the Red Sea by faith. The Egyptians were pursuing them and followed them right into the Red Sea, but God defeated them. The Lord waited until all the enemies of God were in the midst of the sea, and then His big hands came sweeping down and drowned every one of them in a watery grave. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore (Exodus 14:26,27,30). God will defeat all our enemies today, too; and He’ll let us behold the glory of the defeat.
They Fought Against God
The Lord had delivered the Israelites, but they were not really right with Him. They weren’t living in the truth, and they allowed themselves to be deceived by the awful spirit of the golden calf. Today, you have to stay away from that same spirit; it’s a deceiving spirit of the Antichrist and of the world, and you must be conscious of it night and day.
When the Israelites arrived in Marah, they found that the waters were bitter; so they complained to Moses crying, “You’ve brought us here to die!” And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink (Exodus 15:23,24)?
It’s sad when people fight against the plan of God, and people all over the world are doing that today. Many spiritually dead church members fight against Jesus and against His miracles. They have made their own Jesus, but there is just one Jesus; He’s the divine Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary. The Bible tells us exactly who He is and who He will always be, and we can be just like Him.
God did have mercy on the people when Moses cried to Him. And the LORD shewed him [Moses] a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet (Exodus 15:25). This tree was a type of the Cross, so it had to be a live tree because Jesus was alive when they nailed Him to that Cross on Calvary. His death sweetened the waters for all eternity for every person who would accept Him.
God Can’t Work with Disobedience
The Lord had used both a type of the whipping post and a type of the Cross to deliver the Israelites; and the cloud of God’s presence, a type of Christ, went before them. And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people (Exodus 13:21,22). The people should have arrived in Canaan in about eleven days, but God wouldn’t allow that to happen because they were disobedient and arrogant.
God gave the people another chance when He came down to them on Mount Sinai. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly (Exodus 19:18). And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake (Hebrews 12:21). God had come down, and He wanted the people to hear Him give them every one of the Ten Commandments. But instead, they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die (Exodus 20:19).
The Ten Commandments didn’t work for the Israelites. They were written on stone tablets, but the Lord couldn’t write them in the hearts of the people because their hearts were not right. As a result, death reigned for Israel from the time of Moses up to the time of Jesus Christ.
Later, we find the Israelites grumbling and complaining again. Fiery, poisonous snakes bit and killed thousands; so they cried out to God, and He told Moses to, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live (Numbers 21:8). This was another type of the Cross. Christ would later be made a curse to deliver us from the curse that came when Adam and Eve sinned. Jesus took our place, but He wasn’t a substitute; He was and is the remedy. He died so we could live!
The Rod of Truth
The Lord used Moses in a great way, but it took God forty years to make such a man. Moses was a humble person; but when he received the rod of truth, he bowed himself before the Lord and finally believed that he was the one chosen to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. He told the Lord at the burning bush, I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses (Exodus 4:10-14).
God became angry because Moses made an excuse, so let this be a warning to you to never make an excuse before God. He’s the creator, the healer and the One who can give you fluent speech or anything else you need. I never make excuses to God. When He calls on me to do something, I never say, “I can’t.” I just say, “I will.” When the Lord visits with me, I find myself in His presence without one doubt; and all I’m able to say is, “Yes, Lord.”
Some people will say that God told them certain things, but later it all changes. When God really speaks to you, His words will burn upon the altar of your soul; and you will never forget them. When God says something, I believe it; and that settles it. That’s the way it should be with every member of the bridal company—and it must be that way, saith the Lord.
The Lord gave Moses the rod of truth, and He showed him how great that rod was. And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent. And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods (Exodus 7:8-12).
Keep God’s Blessings
I have learned many lessons from Moses, including that he really asked for trouble when he started making excuses. It brought Aaron and Miriam on the scene, and they caused so many problems for Moses. Later, Moses was so troubled by the Israelites that he cried to the Lord, I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me. And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness (Numbers 11:14,15). The Lord heard Moses and told him to choose seventy men. Then the Lord took enough power from Moses to anoint each of them. And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone (Numbers 11:16,17).
God didn’t bring any more power from Heaven to anoint those seventy men; He took that power from Moses, and Moses still had power left. But I don’t want to give up any of the power I have received from the Lord. I have sought the Lord through many forty days of fasting, and I don’t want to lose any of what God has given me in return.
When I fast, I fast for a purpose; and then I close the case. It doesn’t matter what the circumstances look like; I close my case with complete victory, never doubting that I have reached the throne of God.
Jesus Brought Eternal Life
Salvation is eternal! We have divine blood on the doorposts of our souls; and through it, the soul will live forever with the Lord. But you have to be born new, and you can’t be born new without divinity. You can’t be re-created and take on the image of God without the real thing.
Adam was the head of the human race, the perfect man; but he sold out to the devil. God did everything He could to prevent His Son from having to pay the price for man’s sin, but nothing worked. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure (Hebrews 10:6). God couldn’t stand the blood of animals, so something else had to be done. That’s when Jesus said, Father, I’ll go.
God didn’t force Jesus to come; He volunteered to do it. He’d been by His Father’s side for trillions of years. The Bible tells us this in Christ’s prayer that’s recorded in the Gospel of John. Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world (John 17:24). Think about Jesus praying such a loving prayer just before He paid the price for us to live forever. It pierces my heart with the sword of the Spirit every time I read, Oh, Father, I want that glory that I used to have with you. Jesus is our cloud of glory, and we can live in the cloud of His presence. When we do, we will be able to believe God for anything and all things without any doubt.
Perfect in Christ
Today, the Bride is crying, “Lord, we want the glory that the first Adam and Eve had with you. We want to walk and talk with you, not just in the cool of the day, but at all hours. We’ve answered the call when you said, Come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
People say that nobody can be perfect; but there must be some who are perfect before the Lord today, or the Bible would not have told us to mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace (Psalm 37:37). In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told us it was within our reach when He said, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). Perfection had come at last! The storm clouds had been rolled away, and the light shone from heaven. We who were in darkness could come to great light and be born again. Every sin-stain could be wiped away, and the image of God could be put inside of us like it was put in the first Adam and Eve.
When God looks at those who are in His image today, He sees Himself. We can be in the image of divinity, and Jesus came to make it possible for us to be partakers of all of that divinity so we could become co-workers with Him. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16,17).
You can be a son or daughter of God; but the Lord said that if you don’t take His correction, you’re a bastard. You belong to the devil. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons (Hebrews 12:7,8).
You Must Be Like Jesus
The Bible says God can’t look upon sin. Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity (Habakkuk 1:13). The Lord told me that this means He can never favor any sin. Nobody with one speck of willful sin will ever go through the gates of Glory. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie (Revelation 22:14,15).
All sin will be destroyed; and if the Lord can’t get sin out of the container, He will destroy the whole container. He tells you to only fear those who can destroy both soul and body in hell. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Matthew 10:28).
When Moses was at the burning bush, God said, Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground (Exodus 3:5). But those who are born new don’t have to take off their shoes; they wear the Jesus shoes, day and night. There’s a pair that will fit every obedient, born-again child of God. When you wear those shoes, you will not only walk like Jesus, but you’ll talk like Jesus.
The Bible says our conversation is to be the same as if we were in Heaven. For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20). What do they speak in Heaven?—Only the love language. That language was the only one God endorsed in the beginning, and Adam and Eve were created to speak only that language. Sin brought about all the different languages we have in the world today, and this has caused such confusion and chaos because people can’t understand one another.
Jesus Suffered for Us
Now, look at the real whipping post. That’s where divine blood was shed on earth for the first time. What a price Jesus paid! He was the divine Son of God, born of the Virgin Mary; but He had to go to the whipping post. Isaiah the prophet said, He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:3-5). With His blood-stripes, we are healed!
Peter received the same message from Heaven. Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed (I Peter 2:24). Notice that Peter said you were healed. That means healing is already yours because you have the healer working on the inside of you! You have everything you need. Ye are complete in him (Colossians 2:10).
Why do you let the devil keep you bound with that disease, saith the Lord, to this His people whom He loves today with an unending love. The price was already paid at the whipping post, and He wants you to remember that and be made whole today. I was nigh unto death at twenty-three, and I was getting worse all the time; but God made me whole, and He’s kept me young all these years. He’ll do the same for you because He loves you just as much as He loves me.
The Bible says Jesus came as the healing Christ. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings (Malachi 4:2). I never give up on people unless the Lord tells me it’s His will to take them home. I remember my tortured eyes sunk way back into my head; and then I cry, “Oh, God! This could be their last chance to get their miracle. Lord, for Jesus’ sake make them well!” The Lord has given me the compassion of Calvary, and it’s available to every member of the bridal company.
Jesus Wore a Crown of Thorns
Not only did Jesus go to the whipping post, He also wore the crown of thorns for you and me. He did it through divine blood, and that blood was running down His body. People could have reached out and touched it! They could have directed a blind man’s hand to touch that blood, and the blind man would have been able to see. But instead, they beat Jesus almost to death. The Bible tells us that He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him (Isaiah 53:2). They left Him in such a condition that people couldn’t stand to look upon Him. They beat His face to a pulp, and I’m sure His eyes were swollen almost completely shut. But He paid the price at the whipping post.
Then Jesus faced trials all the night through as He was led from judgment hall to judgment hall. Finally, He stood before Pilate. And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him: No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him. I will therefore chastise him, and release him. And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them. But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done (Luke 23:13-16,18,20-22)?
Was Jesus a Criminal?
What crimes had Jesus committed? Well, He met blind Bartimaeus and committed the crime of giving him his sight. Blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way (Mark 10:46-49,51,52). Was that a crime?—Decide for yourself.
A Syrophenician woman came to Him begging for crumbs because her daughter was grievously vexed with devils. For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed (Mark 7:25-30). Healing is the children’s bread. What a statement! The woman asked for the crumbs, but she received a whole loaf. Thank God Almighty, her daughter was free!
Jesus ministered to another woman who was bent over with what we would call arthritis. There was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God (Luke 13:11-13). Were these awful crimes? The people accusing Jesus thought so. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, so the devil took over the minds of those who didn’t yield to Jesus and made them false witnesses.
The ministry of Jesus was a healing ministry, yet people today call the healing ministry a crime against God. A totally blind woman came to one of my services for prayer. Her daughter said that her mother hadn’t seen her face for nearly four years; but that night, she received her sight. I saw her face just light up, and her eyes were shining like two stars; but some people call that a crime.
Sickness Comes from the Devil
There are some people who say that sickness comes from the Lord. But if any of those preachers who teach that doctrine get sick, they’ll go to every doctor they can find for help; and they’ll ask everybody to pray for them. But why should anybody bother? I’m not going to pray for them because they said that it was God’s will for people to be sick. I say let the Lord show His glory through their illness.
Some people even say that God’s miracles come through witchcraft. That’s blasphemy! People said Christ had a devil in Him when He was on earth, but they were blaspheming against the Holy Ghost. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation. Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit (Mark 3:28-30). Blasphemers will go to hell.
The Lord has always warned me that this time would come, and now it’s here. He told me that preachers would see the miracles and blaspheme because they would say I was doing them through the power of the devil. However, I pay them no mind because they’re spiritually dead, and they’ll always be dead as far as God is concerned.
When people talk against the Lord, I don’t want to hear them. I have holy ears, and I only listen to what the Spirit is saying. The Lord Himself said seven times, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches (Revelation 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22). If you have ears to hear, only listen to what the Spirit is saying.
More “Crimes” of Deliverance
Let’s look into what other crimes Christ committed. A woman with an issue of blood had spent all she had trying to get well, but she just touched Christ’s garment and was made whole. And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague (Mark 5:25-29).
Jesus also delivered Legion, a wild and vicious man who had at least two thousand devils in him. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked (Luke 8:28-33). Those devils knew there was no need for them to ask Jesus to let them go into other human beings, so they requested to go into the pigs. Then they forced them to run into the water where they drowned. It’s a shame that the devils didn’t drown with them.
Later, the people found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear (Luke 8:35,37). The people thought it was a crime that their pigs had died: and unfortunatly, there are many people today who still love pigs better than they love Jesus.
Christ Raised the Dead
Jesus’ accusers thought that raising Lazarus from the dead was His worst crime of all. They said that Jesus used the powers of the devil to call him back. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. And he that was dead came forth (John 11:39-44).
I’m sure many people wanted to destroy Lazarus and his miracle, but they never managed to do it. They had tried to do away with Jesus, too; and they couldn’t. But they finally saw their chance when He was before Pilate. Some of them might have cried, “Lazarus walked out! Jesus has committed a horrible crime. Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” But Jesus opened not His mouth. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth (Isaiah 53:7).
Carry the Cross
The people testifying against Christ got their way, and the shadow of the Cross then stretched toward Golgotha. Jesus was going to become the Savior of the world. The crown of thorns was upon His head, and He bore our sorrows and heartaches; and He was on His way to Golgotha to pay the rest of the penalty. He had already paid for our physical healing at the whipping post, but He would also have to pay for our souls. He had to carry His own Cross; but His physical strength was nearly gone, and He fell beneath the load. Someone else carried the Cross for Him the rest of the way.
Today, we must carry that Cross to all nations, and God will give us the strength to do it. The types and shadows are behind us, and the fire of the Holy Ghost is real and available to all who will receive it. Rivers of living water are flowing from our innermost beings to the nations just as Jesus promised. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). Everything is being fulfilled now!
When Jesus got to Golgotha, He was nailed to a tree and gave His life to conquer death for us. What an awful, bloody sight He was. All the apostles fled except John, the youngest of them all. John had such love for Jesus that God gave him five books of love, grace and power that are included in His Holy Bible.
John was the one who had leaned on the breast of Jesus at the Last Supper, and that’s where the Bride must be in this final hour. Jesus says to her, Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee (Song of Solomon 4:7). He’s coming after holy people. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27).
Don’t let the devil deceive you! The Bible says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). The devil has deceived so many people that there are only a very few who believe that you can live free from sin. It’s true that you can’t without Jesus and His divine blood; but with that blood, you can live free from all sin.
Work for the Lord
Jesus came saying, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). When you have Jesus, you have the way; and there’s no time to grumble or complain. I look at my road through Jesus Christ, and I see beyond the tears of today to the joys of tomorrow. I see the harvest being brought in, and it’s hard to tell how many thousands of souls this ministry is winning throughout the earth each week. Thousands will also receive the Holy Ghost either through television, radio or the crusades.
As we think of the real whipping post today and all that Jesus suffered at the hands of audacious men, and we see all the end-time signs that Jesus said would come to pass just before His second appearance, then we know it’s almost time for us to leave this world on the great one flight out. God has had just about enough of the sin and degradation, and our work is almost done. Most members of the bridal company today will not go by the way of the grave. The Lord let me know that most of them will be here to face the final battles and bring in the harvest. Heaven is ready for us, but we’re not ready to go yet because our work is not finished.
We have the fire of the Holy Ghost to help us, and Jeremiah the prophet said it was like fire shut up in his bones. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay (Jeremiah 20:9). The Bible tells us that an angel took a coal of fire, the Holy Ghost, from the altar of Heaven and put it to Isaiah’s tongue. Then Isaiah said, Here am I; send me (Isaiah 6:8).
That’s what the Bride must cry today, “Send me, Lord; I’m ready to suffer anything for your name’s sake. I know you’ll give me the strength and good health that I need to do your work. Lord, use me in any way that you want to.”
You who are in a lukewarm condition, the Lord is going to spew you right into the Tribulation Period. I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth (Revelation 3:15,16). How terrible that’s going to be! People will flock to churches and fall at the altars screaming, “Come back, Jesus! I believe now!” But it will be too late. The Holy Ghost will have finished His work and closed His dispensation when the Bride of Christ is taken out.
The Holy Ghost Is Revealed
Nobody can be made holy and ready to meet the Lord without the Holy Ghost. Your body is His very temple. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own (I Corinthians 6:19)? The Holy Ghost was sent to earth to prepare a Bride for Jesus, and all of this was foretold in types and shadows in the book of Genesis.
Abraham was a type of God the Father; Isaac was a type of Jesus Christ, and the servant was a type of the Holy Spirit. Abraham instructed the servant to go into the country of his kindred and find a bride for his son, Isaac. Go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac. The LORD God of heaven…shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence. And the servant…arose, and went to Mesopotamia, unto the city of Nahor. And he made his camels to kneel down without the city by a well of water at the time of the evening, even the time that women go out to draw water. And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham…Behold, I stand here by the well of water; and the daughters of the men of the city come out to draw water: And let it come to pass, that the damsel to whom I shall say, Let down thy pitcher, I pray thee, that I may drink; and she shall say, Drink, and I will give thy camels drink also: let the same be she that thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac; and thereby shall I know that thou hast shewed kindness unto my master (Genesis 24:4,7,10-14).
The servant went as he was told and sat by the well of salvation saying, “Lord, here I am. Send the maiden who is to be the bride of Isaac.” Then Rebekah came with such grace and love; she was to be the chosen mate for Isaac. And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. And the servant ran to meet her, and said, Let me, I pray thee, drink a little water of thy pitcher. And she said, Drink, my lord: and she hasted, and let down her pitcher upon her hand, and gave him drink. And when she had done giving him drink, she said, I will draw water for thy camels also, until they have done drinking. And she hasted, and emptied her pitcher into the trough, and ran again unto the well to draw water, and drew for all his camels (Genesis 24:15-20).
A Life-Changing Decision
Rebekah was faced with a choice—would she go with the servant or not? And she said, I will go. And they sent away Rebekah their sister, and her nurse, and Abraham’s servant, and his men (Genesis 24:58,59). We all have a choice, too; but you have to make up your own mind. Nobody is going to force you to go God’s way. The Holy Ghost has come with many gifts to give the children of God—gifts of love, peace, wisdom, knowledge and plain paths for their feet.
Rebekah had agreed to go, and she had to make a long journey on an old, bumpy camel. But when the camel train finally arrived, Isaac was out in the field waiting to meet his bride. And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming. And Rebekah lifted up her eyes, and when she saw Isaac, she lighted off the camel. For she had said unto the servant, What man is this that walketh in the field to meet us? And the servant had said, It is my master: therefore she took a vail, and covered herself. And the servant told Isaac all things that he had done. And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death (Genesis 24:63-67).
Rebekah had traveled a long way by her own will. She had left family and friends behind and forsaken all. She had come from another country to give her whole life and her whole heart to Isaac, the type of Jesus. So it is with the Bride today; she will give herself completely to her groom, Jesus.
We Must Give All
Our Lord God Almighty is so great, and I learn more about His greatness every day. He’s full of such tender care, gentleness and kindness; and all of His divine fruits are ours in the wonderful Eden Jesus has made for us. The Holy Ghost produces that divine, eternal fruit inside of each true child of God; and that fruit is greater than any of the fruit available in the first Eden.
The lives of those in the bridal company are on the line today. I’ve told the Lord that He can have my whole life, all at one time or a little at a time; but I’d love to lead His people to the Rapture. The Lord actually showed me the Rapture one day, and it was so real. I was going up through the air, and there were people all around me. They were so close to me that I could see their eyelashes, and everybody was shouting the one word that’s the same in every language—“Hallelujah! Hallelujah!” It was a glorious experience!
The Lord has given me eyes to see as He sees. I have seen the miracle star, and there’s no other star like it; it must have thousands of manifestations. I can see the darkness of sickness, HIV/AIDS, cancer, lung trouble, diabetes or heart disease; and then the star takes over. I watch it move the cloud of thick darkness out of the person’s body. At other times, the miracle star will come right up through the darkness and melt it away like it’s nothing.
When God’s light shines, it’s so glorious that it’s brighter than many television lights. I can see angels coming into my services, and they’re ready to move for the people. Even Michael, the archangel, will come at different times and take over my services; and he’s a real warrior.
In a recent African crusade, so many angels joined one of the services that it looked like the Rapture was taking place. It was glorious to see the angels shouting over the people as all kinds of healings and miracles took place, including those for AIDS. It was the power of God, and He had given the people such great faith. They had been living in ignorance, but they were honest about it; and God’s light shone from heaven for them. The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up (Matthew 4:16).
Come to the Light
That light can shine on you today, too, if you’ll just accept it. Sinner, Backslider, let’s get right with God. Pray with me: Oh, God, I’m so sorry that I have sinned against you. But I have come home, and I’m going to serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary. I believe He went to the whipping post and then died for me. I believe He’s the Savior of the world and the Son of the living God. And I believe that His shed blood washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come in!
If you meant that prayer, now you can say, Hallelujah, He has come! Hallelujah, Jesus is mine! My sins are all gone, and I’m going to live for Him and win souls.
Receive a Miracle
Now, take another look at the whipping post. When I look at my body, I see what the whipping post did for me; and I know it was done through divine blood. It wasn’t done through a type, shadow or mist but only through the blood in living reality. Jesus is real to me! His teachings are all real; His love is real. When I go to other nations I tell them, “I have brought you Jesus! I want you to see His miracles, His greatness and His power. The God of miracles lives!”
You may have a deadly disease today, even AIDS or HIV; but whole families are now being healed of AIDS, and we’re documenting the cases. These cases are real, and medical doctors confirm that the AIDS is gone. They don’t know what to make of it because they know there’s no cure for AIDS, but we know that Jesus is the cure for all diseases.
Lord, I bring the people before you. Lay a healing hand on them right now. I curse the foul diseases in their bodies—AIDS, diabetes, leprosy and strokes. Lord, heal the little children who have been born deformed or with just a part of a brain. You’ve already healed so many of them, and you’re still healing them today. Heal! in the blood-name. Heal! in the all-powerful name of Jesus!
The divine blood is flowing through your body now, the same blood that made me whole and has given me strength for many years. Get well and give Him all the honor, praise and glory. May God bless you and lead you by the hand to that wonderful place called Heaven.
