The Lord has given me an unforgettable message about the three crosses of Calvary. Have you ever thought about why there were three crosses on Calvary that day? I never had until the Lord began to deal with me about them in a vivid way. I’m sure you have heard of the Cross Jesus died on, but have you ever considered the other two crosses? God planned for there to be three crosses, and there are great lessons to be learned from each one of them. Most Christians know quite a bit about the Middle Cross, so let’s find out more about the other two.

The Voice from the Left Cross

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him [Jesus], saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. [At that time, all those living around Jerusalem who were able to read could read one of those languages.] And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us (Luke 23:35-39).

Notice that the man to the left of Jesus was not asking Jesus to save their souls. He was saying, “If you are really the Christ, save us from this death so we can enjoy the world of sin and every lust of the flesh awhile longer.”

The Voice from the Right Cross

The man on the cross to the right of Jesus said, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour (Luke 23:40-44). That thick darkness lasted for three hours, but the spiritual darkness now covering much of the Earth won’t be lifted in any great way until the third coming of the Lord.

The cross to the right was a different cross from the cross to the left, and the man on the right cross couldn’t stand what the voice from the left cross was saying.

The Man on the Left Was Full of Hate

The man dying on the left cross had lived a wicked, ungodly life, and he had made no room in his life for God. He had given his time to business, pleasure and traveling on in sin. How sad!

That man wasn’t sorry for his sins; he was only sorry that he had been caught, and he was full of hate. Of course, he wanted to get down from that cross but for all the wrong reasons. He had no desire to serve God, so he got no help from Him because he wanted no part of God.

The man on the left cross was in great darkness, and it was shutting out all the light of God. He felt so stupid for allowing himself to be caught, and he didn’t want the Man on the Middle Cross to discuss his sins with him. He didn’t think he had been wrong in sinning; and, in fact, he gloated over it. He had given in to envy, strife, lust and all kinds of ungodliness. He had degraded himself and perhaps nearly destroyed himself with wickedness, turning himself over to the devil in unbelievable ways.

When the man on the left cross looked at Jesus, he felt only disgust thinking, “That is the most foolish man I have ever seen. They say He didn’t commit any sin, so I say He hasn’t really lived; and He is here dying like the rest of us. He claimed He had so much power, so why doesn’t He show what that power can do now? They say He raised the dead, so why can’t He save Himself and us? He said all power was given to Him from His Father in Heaven, so why doesn’t He use it to deliver me and set me free?”

A Degraded Voice

The voice from the left cross was degraded and cruel, and it is the same voice heard on Earth today. You can find that voice in all nations, and it goes forth day and night spewing out hatred for God all over the world. Those with that voice hate God’s work, God’s people and the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That voice agrees with any religion other than the pure Gospel of Christ. It has no love in it, only hatred; and it has no trust in God, no lasting joy and no peace.

No one can imagine a voice uglier than that one, and it is going forth from the world church all over the world. I say again that it is the same voice of the left cross.

Ungodliness Abounds

We live in a frightful hour where ungodliness abounds, and every thought of many is evil continually just as it was in the days of Noah and of Sodom and Gomorrah. Men, women, boys and girls are destroying their lives with alcohol, drugs, illicit sex and all kinds of degrading sins. Many people are full of arrogance toward God, and they have so completely opened their lives to the ways of the world that they are possessed by many devils. How awful! God never intended the precious bodies of the man and woman He had made to be habitations of devils, nor did He intend that bondage to plague their countless descendants down through the ages. That is why Jesus came. The Middle Cross on Calvary meant that our bodies would not have to be habitations of devils but temples of the Holy Ghost.

Today, that spirit and voice of the left cross is picked up and used by Jews and Gentiles alike who reject the Middle Cross. They embrace the cross to the left and despise the Middle Cross. The devil poured out all the hatred he had on the Middle Cross that day, but all the hatred in the world couldn’t drown out the voice of divine blood love and divine blood grace that went forth from the Middle Cross.

Lost in the Night

The man dying on the right cross represents people who are lost in the night and undone without God but whose hearts still have regard for Jehovah God and His plan of redemption. The man hanging on the right had respect for divine love, peace, joy and kindness. He had respect for a Christ who could help others and showed nothing but love. He knew the One on the Middle Cross was different from him and from the man hanging on the left.

The man on the right had no accusations against Jesus and no hatred to spew out on Him. He knew he had not lived right or served God and that he was lost in the night; yet he knew who had made the moon, the stars and the sun. He knew who had created man and woman.

That man realized he was about to plunge into hell along with the man on the left cross, but he also knew that a heavenly paradise existed somewhere; and he knew the One on the Middle Cross was going there. He knew the One on the Middle Cross was sacrificing His life for the lost and that He was about to step into a glorious Kingdom where He would never die.

The man on the right cross knew the truth. He knew the ways of the man on the left were leading him to eternal death. The man to the right of Jesus believed in life after death, but the man on the left cross did not. He thought his death would be no different than the death of an animal, and he wanted to live out the sinful life he loved. He had lusted after the devil’s way of life and pleased himself through the seventeen works of the flesh. He thought those sins were life to him when they were really death.

Divine Blood Love Hung on the Middle Cross

In the short time that the man on the right cross was hanging in agony, he had gotten close to the man hanging in the middle; and he was under great conviction. What if divine love had not been on the Middle Cross that day? The devil had tried to destroy that love many times, and he thought he was finally getting it done on Calvary. I am sure the devil called on every demon he had that day, but it was all to no avail. Blood love was hanging on the Middle Cross, and it included eternal life and joy like the world had never felt before. It was the Gospel of hope, peace and Heaven, the eternal light of God to light up the whole world. Only those who had received Jesus had experienced it.

Not Too Late to Accept Jesus

Looking at the scene, you would have thought it was too late for the men on either side of Jesus. It appeared that the only safe place was on the Middle Cross; but as long as people will look to Jesus before it’s too late, they can be saved. The thief on the right cross represents lost souls in the world today who accept Jesus in their minds but not in their hearts. Their hearts are still full of sin, and they are in a spiritually dying condition; but there is hope for them.

The thief on the right was dying a slow death; and because he was lost, he would soon be in hell. However, because he was hanging just to the right of great, divine love, eternal salvation and the wonderful Jesus, there was hope; and there is hope today for those who are like that thief. Look at the Cross to the right and know there is hope from Heaven for so many. It could be last minute or even last second hope, but there is hope. Only believe.

“Remember me!” the thief to the right cried. When you remember God today, Sinner, He will remember you; but don’t wait until it’s too late. Don’t wait until you are in a horrible condition and state of mind like the man on the left cross was in. It was too late for him because he was like Judas after he had fallen. Judas knew it was too late for him to be saved, and he took his own life. Don’t wait until it is too late for you.

See the Danger

Sinner, you have to come to the realization that you are facing eternal death. Your heart can stop beating at any time, and you will be eternally damned and lost forevermore. If you are reading this message, you probably respect the Word of God; but do you respect God enough to give your heart and life to Him? Oh, you may intend to get saved someday just like the man to the right of Jesus had. But on that cross, he had been brought so close to Jesus’ love that he would either receive it and go to Heaven or reject it for all eternity and be damned. He had only a few minutes to decide.

Sinner, if you are hanging to the right today, you must see the danger as clearly as the man to the right of Jesus did. If you believe in Jesus Christ and in the Middle Cross, you must know that you are facing eternal death.

Many of you are hanging on that cross to the right today. You console yourself thinking you will get right with God someday, but you don’t see how much the darkness has closed in on you; and you don’t realize how quickly you can go into eternity. You aren’t aware that you have almost rejected the blood voice of love for the last time and that you are almost damned. The devil is deceiving you into believing that you have plenty of time to accept Jesus because he wants to deceive you until it is too late.

Even in all His sufferings, the ears of the One on the Middle Cross were open to the cry of the man on His right because of God’s loving grace and mercy. He knew the penalty for rejecting His mercy was, The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4).

You Can Have Life

The Middle Cross is calling, “You can have life; you can be set free!” Listen to the voice of the Middle Cross, the voice of God. Listen to the voice of the great love, peace, joy and ways of Heaven. The Middle Cross brings eternal life, not eternal damnation. The left cross is the one that brings eternal damnation, and the right cross is the next to the last step to that damnation.

Sinner, Backslider, are you on that cross to the right today? Don’t be deceived just because you know that God is God and because you go to church whenever you feel like it. Don’t be deceived by consoling your spirit and saying, “I am going to get right one day.” Many people with good intentions are in hell today because they died on the wrong cross.

Heed the Voice of the Middle Cross

Which cross was really meant to be your cross and mine?—the Middle Cross. It was to be our death, not His. Jesus said, I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again (John 10:17,18). He laid down His life as a ransom for all, and He proved it. Then when He got ready, He took it up again.

Jesus died in our place. I can just see a father clutching his little boy’s hand and urging him on saying, “Come and see a man who is dying in my place!” He rushes his son to Golgotha; and when he looks, he sees that it’s Jesus dying, not Barabbas, who was a murderer and a thief.

Earlier, the people represented by the left cross had cried out for the death of Jesus in place of Barabbas chanting, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him! His blood be on us, and on our children (Matthew 27:25)! For the past 2000 years, people who didn’t heed the voice from the Middle Cross have suffered; and they are still suffering today because of that cry. It looked like the voice on the Middle Cross would be silenced forever, but that divine voice couldn’t be silenced by man.

No Condemnation

If you have accepted that Middle Cross, you are a happy person today because you know in whom you have believed. You have no condemnation because you know you have been pardoned and set free. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:1). With no condemnation, guilt or sin in your heart, you are as free as the first Adam before he sinned and as free as the Second Adam, who never sinned. Your soul is resting in God’s heavenly perfection of that loving, caring voice of the Middle Cross.

Tragic Words

Divine love was in the voice of God in Eden saying, Adam̴where art thou (Genesis 3:9)? Those are the most tragic words God has ever spoken. Oh, the agonizing cry of grief that must have been in His voice! It would be thousands of years before there would ever be another cry like that; and it would come from the only begotten Son of God saying, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me (Matthew 27:46)? The distress in that voice from the Middle Cross must have reminded God of His cry in Eden.

The Privilege of Choice

See Jesus taking the place of all mankind on the Cross. The man on the left cross didn’t care. He had free choice, but he wouldn’t use it to accept Jesus’ pouring out His life on that Middle Cross for him. You too have the privilege of free choice today, and you can accept or reject Jesus’ dying for you. If you don’t accept His taking your place on the Middle Cross, you will die like the thief on the left cross; and eternal damnation will be yours. And once you are in hell, you will be there forever.

The man on the right cross knew there was a burning hell, but he also knew there was a wonderful, eternal Heaven. He knew it was a place of peace and joy where there would be no more tears, no more dying and no more separation from loved ones. He understood the sorrow of those left on Earth when a loved one dies. He knew how it felt to never again see the person you love so much until you reach Heaven, always longing while on this Earth to see that one face and hear that one voice again.

When you choose to look to the Middle Cross, you will live because Jesus turned that Cross from death to life, from torment to eternal joy, from barrenness to mighty rivers of love flowing from Heaven to us. The Middle Cross is a supply house for all, beckoning for whosoever will to come and receive.

The Blood of Deliverance Flowed

The Middle Cross was so ugly, but Jesus made it beautiful when He spilled His life’s blood and took away all the ugliness of sin. Although the man on the left cross could see that blood flowing, he wouldn’t accept it. He was so close to that divine blood and eternal life, yet he wouldn’t reach for it. But the man on the right cross saw that precious divine blood of life; and he knew it was the blood of deliverance, hope and help̴and he accepted it.

That man had seen human blood before, but he had never seen divine blood; and the knowledge of its significance exploded in his mind and heart. “He is dying for me! He is dying for me and for everyone on Earth! Can’t the people see that? Listen to them mock and make fun. Who do they think they are? Oh, they are so blind; but, thank God, I am no longer blind because that precious blood has given me sight and hope. When you come into your Kingdom, Lord, please forgive me! I want to be a part of your Kingdom; I want to be a part of you!” The man on the right cross welcomed the voice on the Middle Cross saying, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise (Luke 23:43); and his burden of sin rolled away.

When you get that close to the blood of Jesus, and you reach out for it, sweet heavenly deliverance will be yours. It is all settled, and there is no more condemnation. Because the man on the Middle Cross had paid the price to bring deliverance, that captive on the right was set free. But always remember that just like the man on the left cross, you can be so close to deliverance and miss it. You can be so close to escaping eternal death and not take the way out, so close to the hand of God and not make the effort to put your hand into His.

Your Only Hope

Oh, Sinner, death is upon you today, and you don’t have much longer to change your mind. Thick darkness is closing in like it did that day on Golgotha, and it is spreading all over the Earth. It isn’t enough just to be knowledgeable of the redemptive power of the Cross. You have to know the man on the Middle Cross is your only hope, and you have to receive Jesus into your heart. You have to reach out for that precious blood that stained the Old Rugged Cross.

Think about what a pathetic sight Jesus was as He took your place and mine on that Cross. He wore the crown of thorns and went to the whipping post where He took the whippings—the judgments of this world—for us. He went into the different judgment halls and was falsely accused. He bore it all for us.

Never forget that He carried that Cross and died on that Cross for us. I say again that it should have been our Cross; but had it been, none of us would have escaped damnation. There would have been no man on the right cross who went to Paradise. Without Jesus, the whole human race would have been doomed.

Which Cross Is Yours?

Always remember the great significance of the three crosses. The Lord allowed them to be. Which of those crosses is yours? If you are not saved, you are either to the left or to the right. Only if you are saved is the Middle Cross yours. That is not an ugly cross of condemnation for you; it is the Cross of justification. It is not a cross of hatred and bitterness; it is the Cross of love and forgiveness, and it is holy.

Have you made it to Calvary yet? It isn’t easy to deny self, decide you are guilty of death and go to Calvary. It isn’t easy to come to the realization that eternity in hell will be your destiny unless you change.

If you die a sinner, the penalty is death, not for just an hour or two but for eternity. Damnation is upon you, Sinner, and the judgment of God is hanging over your head and about to fall. Humble yourself and look to the Middle Cross.

If you are on the cross to the right, there is still a chance for you if you will just look to the Middle Cross, the cross that should have been yours. You should have been dying on that Cross, but Jesus took your place so you don’t have to die. He shed His blood for you, so reach for it. Let the Holy Spirit apply it to your soul by faith and wash away every sin and all condemnation. Let the blood take away all fear of hellfire and brimstone and all fear of an angry God. Suddenly, you must see God as He is—a loving God who comes all the way from Heaven to Earth to walk and talk with His man, woman, boy and girl.

Good Intentions Are Not Enough

How many of you keep thinking you are going to give your heart to God and serve Him one day? If you are like the man on the right cross but you have only good intentions, that isn’t enough. You must cry out to the One on the Middle Cross and surrender your life to Him. Let Him know you understand that He is the Son of God and that He has power over death, hell and the grave. You may die a physical death while here on Earth; but when you become a child of God, you will live eternally with Him in Heaven because of the Middle Cross.

You may not have committed many sins because you do have some respect for your family, others and God; but I say again that it is not enough. Just being less degraded or simply being a “good” person won’t save you. It takes accepting the blood of Jesus with your whole heart.

Unfortunately, too many people desire the things that the cross on the left offers—satisfaction for every lust of the flesh, degradation in all kinds of sins and any kind of undesirable act of the flesh. No one can give them any advice because they will do what they please. It is their life, and they will live it the way they want.

Where Will You Spend Eternity?

What are you going to do with the Middle Cross? Is it your deliverance or your judgment? Is it your cross to die on or your cross to give you life as the endless ages roll? Is it your power to leave all sorrows and heartaches behind and enter paradise, your power for a resurrection into a brand-new you? Oh, the great power of that Resurrection!

Because Adam and Eve sinned, all souls are born dead in sins and trespasses; and as life goes on, they are hanging on one of those crosses. But thank God, those who are on the cross to the right have an opportunity to wake up. Are you going to wake up if you have not yet done so? Many have already awakened, but what about you? The Lord isn’t speaking to those who are far off with this message; He is speaking to you, and the Word is being shot like arrows straight to your heart.

The cry from the Middle Cross is the voice of the Gospel; and it is asking, “Where will you spend eternity?” Without the Old Rugged Cross, there would be no Gospel for us today and no saving grace.

Hear the Lord’s voice crying to you today, “I died for you. I took your place, but you must accept me as your sacrifice. If you don’t accept me as your sacrifice, my death will be in vain for you.” The Bible says, Without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22).

You Must Be Born Again

Listen to the voice of the Middle Cross saying He will forgive you. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). Hear that voice saying, Sinner, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish (Luke 13:3). Ye must be born again (John 3:7). I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). Jesus is the only way to Heaven for all eternity.

You are so close to the voice of the Middle Cross; do you hear it now? If you hear it only faintly, it is because you have turned away from it so many times. Deep down in your heart you know there is a hell, but do you realize you could be going there at any time? If thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched (Mark 9:43). In hell, the gnashing of teeth will continue on and on; and the fire is never quenched. At the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:49,50).

Will the Cross of Judgment Be Yours?

There are people like the man on the left cross who claim they are all right when they are not. Some don’t believe there is a burning hell, and even some preachers declare hell is just a state of mind; but that isn’t what the Bible says. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death (Revelation 21:8). Listen to the voice of the Middle Cross.

The Middle Cross with all its sweetness and grace is yours to accept; but if you don’t accept it, you will look one day and see that the Middle Cross has turned into a cross of judgment. Then there will no longer be any love, hope or light for you. Eternal darkness will have snuffed out all the light in your world, and it will never flicker again. Never again will you hear that loving voice say, Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20).

Don’t let the Middle Cross become your cross of death and damnation. Rejecting that cross will open you up to all the cruelty and damnation a sinner deserves for turning away from the sacrifice of the Son of God. The Bible says that Jesus humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:8). Jesus despised the shame of that cross, but He endured it anyway for you and me. That was our shameful cross, and the sin was ours. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

Come to Jesus

Don’t you hear the voice of the Middle Cross, the Cross on which you, not Jesus, should have been dying? For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). God loved the world so much that He gave Jesus to die on the Middle Cross. We all need a Savior, and the voice of Heaven’s love is pleading with you to come to Jesus.

I say again that He took your place and mine; and He turned that cross of death, condemnation, judgment and eternal damnation into a loving Cross of forgiveness; and as we carry that glorious Cross, we will one day trade it in for a crown. Thank God for the Middle Cross!

What will you do with Jesus today? What will you decide about your cross? Will your cross be a glorious one that you will carry before the throne of God and exchange for a crown, or will it be a cross of damnation that will cast you into an eternal hell as the endless ages roll?

Sinner, come to Jesus today. He took your place on the Middle Cross, not on the left cross or the right cross; so you will have to go to the Middle Cross for help. You can still make your cry to Heaven today because the Bible says, Whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely (Revelation 22:17).

The cry of God is upon you, so cry aloud to Him. Lift up your voice and pray this prayer with me: Oh, God, I am so sorry that I have sinned against you! I confess all my sins. I confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He died for me, and I will live for Him. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!

If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come. Start reading your Bible and pray knowing that God hears you. Bible fasting will also help you. The Lord is wonderful in all His ways. Jesus paid a great price on the Middle Cross as He shed His divine blood to deliver people in soul, mind and body. No power can defeat you when you are purged by the blood of Jesus and you use His blood.

Healing Is in the Great Commission of Jesus

The voice of Jesus is telling the Bride, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:15-18). Oh, what love and grace is in that voice. Oh, what a Jesus we have! Oh, what a Christ!

The Bride finds light from the Middle Cross for her every step, and she finds the reality of the prophecies of this end-time hour. Through the light of the Middle Cross, the Bride sees a Babe with divine blood born in Bethlehem. She sees Him as He grows into a man who opens the eyes of the blind, gives hearing to the deaf and makes the mute to talk. She sees Him make crippled people walk, raise the dead, walk the waters and show that He has power over all the powers of the enemy. He conquered death, hell and the grave for us.

If you are sick and afflicted today, accept God’s wonderful words of faith that say, With his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). I am not a healer; I am just God’s believer. God is the healer, and healing is His will for you. Let me pray with you now, and let the power of the Middle Cross flow into your body or that of your loved one. If you will believe and be obedient to God, that power will continue to flow to get you or your loved one well. It is just that simple, and Jesus made it that way on the Middle Cross of the twofold atonement.

Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you. I bring them by the tens, the hundreds and the thousands. I bring those with cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, AIDS or any other disease or affliction to receive your miracle touch. Lay a healing hand on them right now. From your supernatural gifts of miracles and healing the deliverance comes in the name of Jesus, your Son, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Heal! Heal! in the mighty name of Jesus. Heal! in the mighty blood name of the Lord!

The healing power of the Middle Cross is now flowing, so accept it and let that power linger within you. You can allow that by living in the Word, yielding to the Holy Ghost and accepting the promises of God. Get well in the name of the Lord.

Never forget the three crosses. Which cross is yours?
