The Responsibility of God’s Love
by Ernest Angley
September 2021
Many of you have accepted God’s love, but have you also accepted the great responsibility that comes with it? You must learn to use God’s love His way—that is your responsibility. If you don’t use it like God Himself intended, you will come up lacking.
Jesus went to Calvary so each one of us could freely use Heaven’s love. You accepted the responsibility of sharing that love when you went to Calvary, and the Lord washed away all your sins through love. He bathed you in His love and filled you with His love; and when you left Calvary, you had the responsibility of living in and using that love. However, if you don’t feel the impact of that great responsibility, you cannot live in God’s love.
If someone were to give you a huge diamond, wouldn’t you then be responsible for it? If somebody were to die and leave you millions of dollars, wouldn’t you feel responsible to be careful with that money the person had worked so hard for? Well, Jesus gave His life so we could have divine love; and when you accept that love, you are responsible for it.
When you accept Jesus and put your trust in the Lord, God takes responsibility for taking care of you on your journey from Earth to Heaven; and you expect Him to do that. However, you too are expected to be responsible for the divine love God has given you, and one of your greatest responsibilities is to win the lost at any cost. You must have compassion for lost humanity, share divine love with others and act like Jesus.
God has nothing that is more valuable than His love. It is His heartbeat and the very life of God. When you carry God’s love, you have something very valuable that the world needs more than anything else; but when you don’t share that love, you are wasting it.
Have Love for Others
Politicians talk about all the things they plan to do for people, but they never mention God’s love. Even many so-called Christians no longer talk much about God’s love, and they don’t serve much of it either; but true children of God must serve His love. The Bible says, Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love (Romans 12:10).
If you don’t serve God’s love, you don’t deserve to receive any of it yourself. If you don’t have brotherly love, you have missed the responsibility of God’s love. The Bible says, Let brotherly love continue (Hebrews 13:1). That means we are never to stop showing true brotherly love. Many people have hindered the love of God in their lives by not sharing it or have even destroyed that love by abusing and mistreating it.
You can’t mix God’s love with worldly things, and you definitely can’t mix it with things of the devil. Divine love won’t mix with anything but pure, blood-bought love. That is why your human spirit has to be blood washed before your heart and soul can carry the love of God. No one can carry the love of God in their heart if they have any willful sin in there. Sin will never mix with the love of God.
Serve God’s Love
God’s love is a very valuable gift, and He gave it to you for free; so you must freely give it to others. Jesus said, Freely ye have received, freely give (Matthew 10:8). In that love is life, peace, happiness and unspeakable joy; and those are things money can’t buy. Many people would be willing to pay millions of dollars for the love of God if they didn’t have to take any responsibility for it, but that is not the way it works. Your primary responsibility in life is to treat the love of God right and use it right.
Some of you have measured the love of God so sparingly to certain people, but that is not God’s way. You can’t talk about people or hold something against them and still serve them divine love. You don’t have to like all of a person’s ways—even God doesn’t like the ways of some people—but you do have to love their souls.
You can’t hold back from serving God’s love to anyone. The Lord gives us words of love and kindness to serve, and we must serve them. The Bible says, Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32).
Don’t you love being around people who love God and speak His language of love? There may have been times when you felt so down and out until you met someone who was full of God’s love, and they lifted you up to the mountaintop. Your conversation with them was one of love; and after you left them, the fragrance of that love stayed with you because they had blessed you so much.
Never Put Family Ahead of God
You have a greater responsibility to God’s love than you do to the love for your own family, but some of you won’t accept that. Instead, you spend so much time trying to share God’s love with those in your family who don’t want it, and you neglect serving it to those who will accept it.
Jesus said, Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household (Matthew 10:34-36). God’s truth separates, and you must put His love above everybody and everything else.
Jesus went on to say, He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me (Matthew 10:37). If you serve human love to people more than you do God’s love, you are not worthy of Him.
And he that taketh not his cross, and fol-loweth after me is not worthy of me (Matthew 10:38). Your cross is a cross of love, and it is your responsibility to carry it. When you found Calvary, you found divine love; and without that love, we all would have been destroyed.
Take God’s Love to the World
Your responsibility is to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might (Deuteronomy 6:5). When you love the Lord like that, you will be willing to do anything for Him. You will hear what He is saying; you will see what He is showing you, and your feet will walk in the truth at all times. When you love God, you will walk in His love; but you can’t walk in love without walking in truth, so your walk must be a love, truth walk.
The world is looking for true love, and children of God have it; so when we serve that love, it gets people’s attention. The Lord can’t send it to them straight from Heaven, or He would have already done that. He has to use those who are willing to deliver His love, but only holy vessels can carry it. That is why we must carry that love no matter what the cost may be.
You must be careful with the love God has delivered to you. You have something that is priceless, and you must make sure it gets to those who need it. God’s love contains eternal life, eternal grace, eternal peace and eternal joy; and people need those things. Some have never even heard that Jesus came to Earth as a little babe in the manger and then died for them, so you must tell them about that great love story; and the Lord will reward you for it.
Be a Blessing to God’s People
You must serve God’s love not only to the lost souls of the world but also to those who are in the family of God. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10).
If you are not in one accord with God’s people, you won’t have the love of God to serve them because there are no discords in God’s love. You can’t talk about people or say things that will hurt them. Jesus said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself (Matthew 22:39). You are not to say bad things about anybody.
Any time you have an opportunity to bless a brother or sister in Christ, it is your respon-sibility before God to do that through love. If you can’t serve them love, then say nothing. If you are just going to hinder or hurt people, cause them to shed unnecessary tears and get their minds off of God in any way, you are not worthy to be in their presence…and you are not worthy to be in the presence of God either.
If you want to talk about certain people, talk to Jesus about them because after all, He is the only one who has the help and answers they may need. My motto is, “Talk about me all you please, but I’ll talk about you when I’m on my knees.” You should adopt that motto too, and then what other people say or do won’t hurt you or bother you.
Let Your Light Shine
God’s love runs so deep that it goes to the brink of hell. It stretches so high that it reaches above the heavens, and it extends out so far that there is no way to measure it. Still, some of you walk around feeling so troubled and depressed.
It is time to move into the love of God. It is time to leave all hate, envy and strife behind. When I got saved, I left all of that behind because I thought it belonged to the devil. I never expected those who claim to be Christians would still carry those things. Jesus said, Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God (Matthew 5:9). When you have the love of God, you are a peacemaker, not a troublemaker.
Jesus said, Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). Your light is God’s love light, not any human light you may have. God’s light is the love light of the divine blood, and you must let that light shine. People will not see the good works you do for the Lord if you don’t have His light because you won’t have any good works worth looking at.
Deal with Enemies God’s Way
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you (Matthew 5:44). Never pray that the Lord will kill your enemies. Jesus had not yet come to Earth when the Psalmist wrote, Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies (Psalm 23:5).
I found out years ago that the way to win a war with your enemies is to love them and pray for them. Then the Lord will spread you a big table of blessings so they can see that He is blessing you with handfuls on purpose, even though they said you would amount to nothing. You are dining at the King’s table and becoming fat in the Lord.
When you take the responsibility of love, you won’t have to worry about your enemies. Throw a big blanket of divine love over them and go on your way, forgetting all about them.
Love Remembers
It is easy to remember things that are done with love. Somebody may give you just a single flower or a little box of candy; but if it is done with love, you won’t forget it. Love will also help you to remember all the little things the Lord does for you. The Psalmist said, Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation (Psalm 68:19).
Love praises and honors God; and love remembers the good things, not the bad. Love heals, and it helps you to forgive those who have wronged you so you won’t have to think about them anymore. It doesn’t mean those people are forgiven by God because that is between them and God, but you can cover those wrongs with God’s love in the same way that you would cover an old, ugly floor with a beautiful carpet. Love will do it, but it is your responsibility to use that love.
Jesus said, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). You can’t be perfect in the eyes of all people, but you can be perfect in God’s love. Some people do not believe that, but that is because they are full of imperfections in the eyes of God.
Love the Lord with Your Whole Heart
It is awful for people to betray love, and Jesus’ love—the greatest love ever to come to Earth—was betrayed. Those who mocked Jesus and rejected His teachings betrayed that love. Peter betrayed it when he cursed and said, I do not know the man [Jesus] (Matthew 26:72). Judas betrayed that love when he sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, and the betrayal of God’s love is still going on today. If you don’t take the responsibility of God’s love, thus saith the Lord, you are betraying His love.
Many times, I am afraid we have betrayed Jesus by our actions, by the way we have treated Him and by the way we have mishandled His love. We didn’t use His love as we should have, and we have not done as much of His work as we should have. We didn’t spend enough love time with Him in prayer and meditation, and we didn’t linger with Him as we would with someone we dearly love and appreciate. Instead, we spent more time with people and entertainments of the world than we did with the Lord.
In John’s writing, he mentioned, The disciple whom Jesus loved (John 21:20). He didn’t give his name in that passage, but he was talking about himself. He was the one who was leaning on the bosom of Jesus the night of the Last Supper. Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved (John 13:23). Jesus wants everyone to be that close to Him, and there is room enough for all of us to lean on the breast of Jesus.
Careless Love
Some people are so careless and indifferent with God’s love. The Bible tells us that the people in the church in Ephesus did many good things, but the Lord rebuked them for leaving their first love. Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write…I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love (Revelation 2:1-4).
Some people are careless with their clothes, their homes, their cars and other things of value. For example, we all know that cars need oil changes, tire rotations and other types of routine maintenance; yet some people won’t do any of those things unless they are forced to, and they act the same way with God’s love—they won’t show any of His love unless they are forced to.
Even in marriage, some people have to be forced to show love after they get married. If they were to go on a second honeymoon, would it be as loving, tender and gentle as the first one without any harsh words being said?
A man may say to his wife, “I love you”; but if he has not been showing her love, she knows there is nothing behind those words. Talk is cheap, and so many people just say words with nothing to back them up.
God’s words of love are as strong as God Himself, and He takes full responsibility for every statement He has ever made. He made all of His promises through love, and He stands behind every one of them.
Use God’s Love
God will frown on you for not using His love, yet some of you still take no responsibility for God’s love. You will say things that hurt people or tell someone something negative about a particular person knowing they will go and tell that person. When you say the wrong things about people, you want to hurt them; or you wouldn’t be saying it. That is not using God’s love because His love doesn’t hurt people; it heals people.
Divine love wants to hold those who are hurting and say, “The Lord loves you. Every-thing is going to be all right.” That doesn’t necessarily mean you have to physically put your arms around them, but you hold them in God’s love.
Through God’s love, you can have great pity for your enemies because one day, it is going to be too late for them to get right with God. They may think they are all right; but if they are not living in the love of God, they are all wrong. They are out in the cold and in the path of the coming storm called the Tribulation Period, and that is so sad.
If you saw someone standing in the path of an oncoming car, you would want them to get to safety. If there was a terrible earthquake and things were beginning to crumble, you wouldn’t want anyone to be hurt or killed. You should have that same love and compassion for those who are not living in God’s ark of safety.
You Will Answer to God
God wants me to tell you that you will have to answer to Him for how you have used His love. If you are a child of God, you will not have to answer to God regarding sin because all your sins have been washed away. You won’t have to answer to Him for crimes you committed or things you did before you were saved; but thus saith the Lord, you will have to face God on the judgment of love.
You will have to answer these questions before God: What did you do with His love? How did you use it? Did you serve only small amounts of God’s love, or did it pour forth from you? Could people hear that love in your voice and see it in your eyes? How many poor sinners did you pass up without offering them God’s love? How many people did you come in contact with who were close to dropping into hell, and God’s love could have plucked them as brands from the fire; but you didn’t share that love with them?
How many times did you fail to give a Jesus smile of love to someone who was discouraged or downcast? How many times did you not go the extra mile to help someone when the Lord wanted you to? Thus saith the Lord, that is God’s love; and you have no right to be selfish with it or use it sparingly. You must use God’s love on everybody, whether you like them or not.
On the Day of Rewards, all children of God will be judged on the basis of divine love. God gave all of us rivers of His love. Jesus Himself said, He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). To believe on Jesus like that is to love Him with all of your heart.
When Jesus came to Earth, He brought those rivers of love down to us. Then that love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5). That is why you must have the Holy Ghost living within you.
Find Love at Calvary
Today, you are either in God’s love, or you are out of His love. You are a part of God and His love, or you are no part of Him. You will never get into God’s Heaven of love without first living in His love here on Earth.
There is no Calvary in Heaven. Calvary was made here on Earth, and it is the only time that God ever used all of His love. He put every drop of His love into making a Calvary for us, and that is why anything can happen for you at Calvary.
Through Calvary’s love, you can be made a new creature in Christ. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17). Through Calvary’s love, you can find deliverance for anything you need. Who [the Lord] forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Psalm 103:3-5).
When you go to Calvary, you walk away without any sin; and you have a clear record. If you have a bad earthly record with the law, it can follow you for the rest of your life; but it does not work that way with God. Calvary erases all you have ever done.
Some of you will let the devil torment you with what you have done in the past, but don’t listen to him. The Bible says that when you are saved, God casts all your sins into the sea of forgetfulness. Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19).
Accept God’s Love
I want you to open up to the love of God today. If you have failed in your responsibilities to God, it is not too late to change. Your home may be broken, and you may have caused it. You may have failed to train your children in the ways of God, and now they are lost and undone; but you can come to Jesus today, and He will put your life back together again as you yield to Him. He loves you, and He came to deliver those who have failed. He came to make the weak strong and to make the sinful righteous.
When you find Jesus, He will be with you all the time as long as you live right. He said, Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). He also said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5). If you are not living right, you have to go back to Calvary and find Jesus; and He will be waiting for you there. If you have never been saved, you must go to Calvary today. Don’t wait too long, or it will be too late; and all you will find is judgment.
Lift up your hands and say this prayer right now: Oh, God, I have failed you and sinned against you, and I am so sorry; but I have come home, and I am going to serve you for the rest of my life. I do believe in you and in your love, and I believe your love is so great that you died for me and gave your life that I might have life. I believe there is power in your blood and that your blood washes away all of my sins. Come in, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come; and He is yours.
Divine Love Brings Healing
If you are sick and afflicted today, you must know that Jesus cares. The Bible says, Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you (I Peter 5:7). You may have suffered for so long that it seems Jesus doesn’t care and that He will never give you your miracle; but the Bible says, I am the LORD that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26). Thousands of people have been healed because the Lord is the Almighty One, and His power will flow to you today.
Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you—those with cancer, diabetes, AIDS, heart trouble, paralysis or any other sickness or disease. You have healed so many through this Jesus ministry, and you will do the same thing for these people today. Heal! in the holy name of Jesus. Heal! The healing, miracle power is flowing, and it will flow into your body if you will believe. Live for the Lord and watch for all improvements daily as God’s power works. Then give God all the praise, the honor and the glory.
We would love to hear what God has done for you. You can write, email or send a message through social media; and we will rejoice with you. He is my Lord and your Lord. His name is Jesus, and He loves you. That is why He said, Behold, thou art made whole (John 5:14).
Thus Saith the Lord
Yea, saith the Spirit of the Lord, I am revealing my love for this final hour. My love will take you to the people you can win. My love will take you into valleys where you are needed. My love will take you on paths that you could never find, only through my love. There are people hurting. There are people lost and in the night, and my love will light up your path and take you to them. And you will have my message, and you will have my light of love to shine upon their paths to bring them out; and they will be brought out. There are multitudes, multitudes, multitudes waiting who can be rescued, saith the Lord.
Trust my love. Yield to my love, and I will reach out with the greatness of my love for you. I want you to use my love, but you must know how to use my love. You must know how I want it to be used, and I have sent you my Holy Spirit to flow my love through your minds daily; but you must have my love hid away in your souls so my Spirit can pour my love to your minds. With that love poured to your minds, you will have a mind to work for me. You will have a mind to bring in my harvest. You will have a mind to heal the brokenhearted and to open the prison doors for those who are in bondage; and you will set the captives free, saith the Lord unto this people.
