The Personality of the Holy Spirit and Yours
by Ernest Angley
October 2021
When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth (John 16:13). These words of Jesus refer to the Holy Spirit. It is wonderful to have the Spirit of truth, and you cannot have truth without the Spirit of truth being in you. He seeks to lead you in the paths of righteousness and into all the greatness of Heaven. You can never keep the Spirit of truth and harbor deceit at the same time.
The Holy Spirit cannot direct your life unless you yield it to Him. When you disobey God, you block the leading of the Spirit of truth. Never does He handle or serve that which is not truth, and He cannot help you any other way. If you don’t yield to the truth, you will not be free for Him to help you.
Jesus said, Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). To know the truth, you must live in the truth and let it become a part of you. As you yield to the truth, the Holy Spirit becomes your great teacher of truth and only truth. He seeks to teach you all the things of the Lord and every benefit you have through Jesus Christ, benefits you never thought it was possible for you to have.
Jesus, our example, received the Holy Ghost when He was here on Earth. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him (John 1:32). Many people claim they don’t need to receive the Holy Ghost and that they could never pattern their lives after the life of Jesus; yet, He is our example. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps (I Peter 2:21).
Jesus came to Earth not only as very God but as very man. As the Son of God, Jesus didn’t need to be baptized in the Holy Ghost; but as the Son of man, He received the Holy Ghost. Since Jesus needed the Holy Ghost for His human flesh, it should be obvious that we need the Holy Ghost for our human flesh today.
The Holy Ghost Is…
Jesus told the disciples, Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you (John 16:7). The Comforter, the Holy Ghost, was not given until after Jesus had gone away.
The Holy Ghost is a real person, the third person in the Trinity of the Godhead. Jesus said, I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:16,17).
Jesus said, He [the Holy Spirit] shall testify of me (John 15:26). The Holy Spirit testifies of Jesus’ love, grace, redemption and humility. He knows all the subjects of Heaven, has all the wisdom of Heaven and brings all the grace of Heaven to us. He is prepared to comfort, to serve, to bind up our wounds and to heal. With the strength of Heaven, He comes to give victory and power over all the powers of darkness.
The Holy Ghost is the teacher of all things. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). The Holy Spirit reminds us of all the things Jesus taught, but many have rejected this Comforter and what the Lord said people must have. The Bible says that the Holy Ghost will be given to the obedient. The Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him (Acts 5:32).
The Holy Ghost is your guide into the whole truth and nothing less. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth (John 16:13). You will never walk with the Spirit and blend with Him unless you are living 100 percent in the truth. Not even one speck of deceit will blend with Him. You can’t maneuver and manipulate things or cover up anything you know grieves the Holy Spirit and still be acceptable to Him. He is God’s peace in the shape of a dove.
You Must Receive the Holy Ghost
Jesus put receiving the Holy Ghost in the form of a command. Jesus being assembled together with them [the disciples], commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence (Acts 1:4,5).
Jesus, I say again, was divine and human. Look at His magnificent personality—a blend of the Holy Spirit and the human spirit came together in Christ. What a beautiful personality and what a beautiful blend it was! People said of Jesus that never man spake like this man (John 7:46). No one had ever talked like Him, loved like Him or served people the way He did. God’s children are to be like Jesus, and we can be through the power of the Holy Ghost and the blood of the Lamb.
When you receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit, He comes to live inside you; and He will stay there all the time as you yield to Him. Your personality must blend with His—two personalities coming together to make one godlike, Jesus personality.
Jesus said, If any man serve me, let him follow me (John 12:26). We are to follow in His steps, but you can only keep in step with Jesus through the power of the good Holy Ghost. If you don’t let your personality blend with the Holy Spirit, you will not have the personality that the Lord came to give you when He saved you and made you a new creature. In that newness of life, you must have the Holy Ghost to give you the blend of personalities the Lord wants you to have. It is a blend that is pleasing to Him and one that will serve and bless others.
As a child of God, you are to be a living epistle for Christ; but if you don’t have the Spirit of truth, that will be impossible. If you reject the Holy Ghost, you cannot have the Spirit of truth because He is the Spirit of truth!
The Spirit Brings Signs and Wonders
When the Holy Spirit blends your personality with His to make one, He brings you into the holiness, righteousness, purity, goodness, mercy and humility of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord, all the characteristics that Jesus had and all the traits He had come to you when the Holy Spirit and your spirit blend to make one personality—the Jesus personality.
The Early Church disciples had the Jesus personality. When they spoke, it was like Jesus speaking. When they prayed, it was like Jesus praying. When they commanded things be done in the name of Jesus, they were done the same way as when Jesus had commanded them. They commanded the blind to receive their sight, and they could see. They commanded dumb tongues to be free, and they were set free.
Signs, wonders and miracles followed the Early Church disciples and apostles, and Jesus had said that those things would follow His believers. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18).
John the Baptist Had the Spirit
When Jesus walked the Earth, His disciples did not have the Jesus personality; but John the Baptist did. He had the same love and Spirit of truth Jesus had; and when you have the Spirit of truth, you do not compromise. Luke tells us that John would be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb (Luke 1:15).
John the Baptist did not grow up with wrong ideas and traits. From his mother’s womb, John’s personality was blended with that of the Holy Ghost. He was the forerunner of Jesus, so he had to have a special personality. He was the messenger of the First Coming of Christ, and we who are messengers to the world of the Second Coming need the same personality. Nothing less than that personality will carry out the work of evangelizing the world in this last and final hour.
John the Baptist had the Jesus personality, and you can too when you shed off the flesh and walk in the Spirit. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16). God will not overlook even one sin. Those who claim they cannot live free from sin do not have the Jesus personality.
Divine light and the darkness of the devil cannot mix. Some people who sin claim to have the Holy Ghost; but if they did, the light of God would have to mix with their darkness. Just because people once received the Holy Ghost does not mean they have kept Him. There is no God in a person who claims to be a Christian yet is arrogant, cruel and hurts people unnecessarily. His actions cause others to doubt God.
Thus saith the Lord, the Lord is sending forth His light; and He is going to shine it into every corner in every life. He will let the world see the real children of God, saith the Lord. That doesn’t mean children of God will be loved by the world; but people will see the holiness, righteousness and purity of God in the Jesus personality the Bride carries. Anyone with the Jesus personality—the blend of the human and the divine—knows that such a personality is pure and free from all sin all the time. When you walk in the Spirit, you are godly.
John the Baptist did not sin. He had the Holy Ghost, and he yielded to Him; so he blended with the truth. John had the personality of Heaven’s love, humility and joy; and he had vision of his mission. That is why he was satisfied with living in the wilderness.
John knew who he was and what he had been born for, and he stayed on his divine mission until it was finished. It cost him his life, but he had lived a life without compromise. He demonstrated the supernatural strength the Lord furnishes to His children, and he had that wonderful blend of the Holy Ghost and the human spirit.
The Spirit Worked in the Old Testament
In the Garden of Eden before Adam and Eve sinned, they had that marvelous, righteous personality. How tragic that they allowed the devil to rob them of it! We don’t know how long they lived in the Garden in truth, walking and talking with God, before they let sin enter. What wonderful closeness and fellowship they had with Him!
When the personality and character of Adam and Eve changed, God drove them from the Garden. The Second Adam, Jesus, bought man back from bondage when He died on Calvary so that all mankind could have that sweet personality God loves and wants all of us to have for all eternity.
Even before Jesus came, God found those who had that wonderful blend of the divine and human personalities. Many people think that no one received the Holy Ghost until the Day of Pentecost, but you can see the workings of the Holy Spirit in different people in the Old Testament.
Enoch was a man with such a wonderful blend of the Holy Spirit and the human spirit that God again was able to walk and talk with a human being. Enoch pleased God so much that one day, He took Enoch home alive.
Look again and see another servant of God—Elijah. There had not been one like him in Israel for many years, but a prophet was again in the land. Cry aloud everyone! Lift up your voice and rejoice for the prophet Elijah! He had the same personality Adam and Eve had before the fall, that beautiful, sin-free personality that God loved and could deal with. The fruits and gifts of the Spirit in Elijah’s life proved that the Holy Ghost was with him.
Thus saith the Lord, all the true prophets of God—Ezekiel, Isaiah, Daniel, Elijah, Elisha and others—had the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is what made them so different, and it is why they were able to stand up against all sin without compromising.
The holy prophets of God poured forth what thus saith the Lord. It was hundreds of years before some of their prophecies were fulfilled, and others have yet to be fulfilled; but they will be soon. They all will be fulfilled because it is thus saith the Lord. The Holy Ghost gave them, and only holy voices can pour forth the true prophecies of God.
Old Testament Prophets
Hundreds of years before Jesus was born, Isaiah foretold the coming of the Messiah. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Isaiah displayed an amazing blend of the human and the divine personalities! What a great personality he had!
The Prophet Daniel suffered because of the failures of others. His people had sinned against God, but the Holy Ghost dwelt in Daniel. He was captured and carried away to be a slave in the kingdom of Babylon, but Daniel continued to uphold his God in every way. King Nebuchadnezzar admired Daniel, so he gave him gifts and made him a great man in his kingdom.
Later, King Darius also loved Daniel and wanted to set him over the whole realm; however, there were men who were jealous of Daniel’s position, and they tricked Darius into having Daniel thrown into a den of lions. The king was so upset that he didn’t eat or sleep the whole night. Very early the next morning, the king went in haste to the lions’ den and said, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live forever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me (Daniel 6:20-22). That heathen king knew Daniel served God continually. What a great personality Daniel had! It was the personality of the Bride of Christ.
Notice every type and shadow of the Bride in the Old Testament. Roll back the mists through your faith in God and through the eyes of the Spirit, and behold the personality of the Bride.
The Bride Must Be Holy
The personality of the righteous soul in Lot was vexed because of the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah; and in this last hour, the soul of the Bride will be vexed because of the sins of the world. She won’t take part in that which is wrong. She won’t watch the wrong things in movies, on the television or on the Internet; and she won’t read filthy literature. She will not feed her spirit anything unclean.
The Bride will dine only on the holiness and righteousness of God, and she will yield only to Him and His truth. Neither man’s opinions nor the devil’s chatter will sway her. The Holy Ghost will live and dwell in each member of the bridal company.
We as bridal company members have much going for us, and the devil is trying his best to defeat the plan of God; but he won’t be able to. God will have a small number of people, but they will have the blended personality of the human and the divine. The Bride will be led by the Spirit, directed by the Spirit, taught by the Spirit and protected by the Spirit; and she will be victorious over the powers of the enemy.
Thus saith the Lord, people who back away from the truth even a little bit are in great danger today. One of these days, the Spirit will no longer draw them. He will let them back away until they are forever out of reach. And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man (Genesis 6:3). God said it, and God stands by what He says.
Zacharias Paid for Unbelief
Zacharias was told that his wife would have a son. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb (Luke 1:13-15).
John was not just going to be moved on by the Holy Ghost; he was going to be filled with the Holy Ghost. It is no wonder John had such a godly personality even though he was a man! He had a personality like the ones God gave to the first man and the first woman.
Unfortunately, Zacharias didn’t believe what the angel Gabriel had told him because he thought Elisabeth was too old; so Gabriel said, Behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season (Luke 1:20). Had Zacharias had the Holy Ghost when the angel came and announced the birth of his son, he would have believed; but he didn’t have the Holy Ghost at that time. Therefore, he could not speak for nine months.
Elisabeth did conceive just as the angel had said she would; and by the time John was born, Zacharias was an enthusiastic believer. Family and friends wanted to name him Zacharias after his father, but Elisabeth said no. The people then asked Zacharias what the child should be named, and he wrote down that his name would be John. Immediately, his tongue was loosed; and he spoke. Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace (Luke 1:67-79).
Thus saith the Lord, that is what the Bride will do throughout the Earth. She is going to give light to those who sit in darkness, and people will have the opportunity either to turn to the light or away from it. The Lord will turn on His light for the heathen to see in this last hour. How marvelous are the ways of the Lord!
You Must Believe
The Bride will believe the Word of God and act on it. She will be the hand and the voice of the Lord in this last hour and do the divine will of God. She will preach salvation and the Holy Ghost baptism for each human being. That is why the Lord will be able to pour Himself through her like Heaven was poured through Jesus when He was here. We are to take Christ’s place. Jesus said, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12).
The Bride will not be justified in disobedience. Disobediences are weights; and the Bible says, Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1). If you are disobedient, you carry weights that hinder you in running your race for the Lord. How much longer will He include you in His plans if you persist in disobedience? How much longer will it be before He says, “It is enough; you are counted out of this race”?
Mary Believed
Mary responded very differently than Zacharias did to an angel’s visitation. She was told she would conceive and bring forth a Son who would be a ruler over a kingdom without end. She didn’t question what the angel said; she only wondered how such a thing could happen since she was a virgin. Said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man (Luke 1:34)?
Mary’s amazing acceptance was only possible through the power of the Holy Ghost. And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God (Luke 1:35). Mary’s human personality yielded so completely to God that He chose her to be the Earth mother of His Son, Jesus.
The angel also told Mary about her cousin Elisabeth who hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost (Luke 1:36,37,39-41).
When the Holy Ghost came upon Elisabeth, she began to prophesy with a loud voice. If you have been in a congregation where the Holy Ghost takes over a person to give a prophecy for the people, that one speaks out for all to hear. And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb (Luke 1:42).
Elisabeth did not know what had happened to Mary, but the Holy Spirit did; and it was the Holy Spirit speaking through Elisabeth in prophecy. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord (Luke 1:43-45).
The Spirit Confirms the Truth
Through Elisabeth, Mary received confirmation of what she had been told by the angel. Then the Holy Ghost took over Mary, and she too began to prophesy. And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy; As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever (Luke 1:46-55).
The revelation of the Christ Child was also given to a devout man named Simeon. And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents [Mary and Joseph] brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel. And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him (Luke 2:25-33). The greatness of the Holy Spirit and the revelations of the Lord are marvelous indeed!
Jesus Was Tempted
When Jesus was on Earth, the Holy Ghost led the human part of Him into the wilderness to fast. Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungered (Matthew 4:1,2).
Jesus was human as well as divine. When the devil came to tempt Jesus, He showed people how the human and divinity brought together as one make a blended personality that the devil cannot defeat. The devil can deceive and defeat a human personality standing alone because he can twist it in all kinds of directions; but when it is blended with divinity, the human part has the option of giving in to self or yielding to the strength of Almighty God and all the power in the blood of the Lamb.
When the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he dealt with the human part of Jesus. And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread (Luke 4:3). The divine personality of Jesus knew it didn’t have to prove anything to the devil. When the human and divine personalities are blended together as God intended, they have the knowledge, wisdom and thoughts of God.
The devil took Jesus to the pinnacle of the temple and dared Him to cast Himself down. And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence (Luke 4:9). The devil knew that if he could talk the human part of Jesus into jumping, Jesus would be killed; but the human part of Him yielded to divinity. The blended personality had the answer—the Word of God.
Jesus Did Not Compromise
When your personality is blended with the personality of the Holy Spirit, it makes one great personality in the eyes of God; and you will have the strength, wisdom and knowledge to recognize the devil’s lies. You know you have power over Satan, and you back him off with the Word of God through the Spirit of truth. How the human and the divine work together is one of the greatest lessons Jesus taught us in defeating the devil.
The devil tried to get Jesus to compromise. And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it (Luke 4:5,6).
Satan showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world and offered that power to His human personality. As the Son of God, Jesus could not have been moved; but when He came to Earth, He had put Himself under subjection to every limitation we have. Nevertheless, Jesus did not compromise. He made Himself weak to show us how we could be strong. How marvelous it is to see divinity and the human come together in such a mighty display of greatness and beauty for us! What an unforgettable lesson!
Jesus could have given in to the devil, and the devil never would have tempted Him if that had not been a possibility. The first Adam gave in. Then Jesus came as the Second Adam, and He didn’t give in. He had taken on a human form, and the devil knew Jesus had put Himself under subjection to all the weaknesses of the flesh, the same weaknesses the first Adam had given in to. Jesus was very human as well as very God, and the devil tried to deal with the human part.
When the devil comes to tempt you, he doesn’t try to deal with the divinity in you but with your human nature. No matter how much God you have in you, the devil does everything he can to bypass that part and get right to the flesh. When you answer him only with the blend of the Holy Spirit, the devil can’t do anything with you. He can’t talk you into doing anything that would grieve the Holy Spirit. Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (I John 4:4).
Again and again, I find the Spirit of truth defeating the devil with what is written. Jesus turned back the devil three times by giving him what thus saith the Lord. Jesus said, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:4). He said, For it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve (Luke 4:8). Finally Jesus said, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God (Luke 4:12). It is written; it is written; it is written!
Cry for Souls
Holy Ghost-filled people will cry the truth. They will live it, use it and defeat the devil with it. The personality of the Holy Ghost is offered to every born-again Christian who gives 100 percent obedience to the will of God.
Jesus was obedient in everything. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:8). The Bride will be obedient in everything just like Jesus was. That is why she will trample the powers of hell and why the devil will fear her so much.
The Bride will sweep multitudes into the Kingdom in this last and final hour because every member of the bridal company will be a great light of the Lord and point the way to Jesus for lost souls. That light will shine upon Calvary and glorify it in all its greatness. Then the Holy Spirit will draw those lost ones to the Lord as the Bride cries, “Come to Jesus! Oh, come to Jesus! He has the answers for your heartaches and your troubled spirit. He has the answer for your wrecked soul. You can be made a brand-new Adam or a brand-new Eve who walks with Jesus!”
Genesis opens with a man and a woman walking with God in the Garden of Eden. The Bible closes with the Bride and Jesus walking in the garden of life in the Book of Revelation. How thrilling!
The Holy Ghost Requires a Pure Heart
In seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit, you first must be sure that everything unlike God is out of your soul. You have to be cleansed by the blood from anything that contaminates you and be made holy and sanctified so the Holy Ghost can move in. The Holy Ghost cannot come in until He can blend with the human spirit.
In the very moment that you yield to the Spirit of truth for all the cleansing you need and for every speck of deceit and contamination to be removed from your spirit, your soul will be made holy through the blood of the Lamb. Then is when you receive true, born-again salvation.
After you are saved, you must keep the holiness of heart and devotion before the Lord that you had when you first received Him. You must be dedicated, consecrated and faithful in seeking and obeying the Lord daily. The Holy Ghost will not take over lips of clay until they are holy. Nothing but holiness and righteousness can come forth in the voice of a candidate for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. With that righteousness and holiness of God bubbling forth, the Holy Spirit is welcomed; and He is eager to move in.
Never Speak in Tongues at Will
Why do some people have to tarry so long after they receive salvation to receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost?—because they will not yield to the Spirit of truth. You can’t wait until the Holy Ghost moves in before you yield to Him; you have to yield to the Spirit of truth before He will move in. The Holy Ghost gladly moves into a yielded vessel; and with great jubilation, He takes over a holy tongue. He takes over only purged, cleansed lips and uses only tongues and vocal organs that are sanctified.
Never speak in tongues at will because that would be just you speaking. If you speak in tongues at will within yourself, then the devil will eventually take over. Thus saith the Lord, that has happened to a lot of people. They think they can talk in tongues any time they are in the mood, but that is not how the Holy Ghost operates—He is the one who should be able to speak whenever He wants to. When I speak, I speak in English. When the Holy Ghost speaks through me, He speaks in any language He chooses.
On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost was the one doing the speaking. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4). Thus saith the Lord, the devil has used this thing [speaking in tongues at will] in this final hour to destroy the plan of God. Unrighteous, unholy preachers who have not obeyed God are teaching people to speak in tongues at will and pray in so-called tongues. Thus saith the Lord, it is not the Holy Ghost tongue. It is an abomination in the eyes of God. If you “pray in the Spirit” whenever you want to, it is you praying and not the Holy Spirit. This kind of so-called prayer tongue is just a human tongue; and many times, it gets mixed in with the devil.
The Spirit Needs Holy People
When the Holy Ghost baptized those in the Upper Room, they all spoke in tongues as He gave the utterance; and that is when the Church Age really started. The utterance came by the Holy Spirit as He used the tongues, the lips and the vocal organs of those disciples. Every person who receives the baptism of the Holy Ghost speaks in a heavenly language that glorifies Jesus, and the Holy Ghost shows you all the greatness of Him.
The Holy Spirit is a person, and He has things to say. He doesn’t need anyone to talk for Him, and you must never be guilty of speaking for Him. Always yield holy lips, a holy tongue and a holy voice to the Spirit so He can use them to speak whenever He wants to.
The Spirit never becomes discouraged, and He will never talk discouragement to you. He is your helper and the source of all divine patience. He goes with you into every valley, and He is your strength for the journey. He is with you all the time when you are saved and baptized in Him.
The devil is doing everything he can to destroy the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, but he will not be successful. God has nothing but holiness and righteousness to give His people, and He will have a holy people because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16). Without God’s holiness, you will never see the face of God. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
God Gave All for Man
God loves the sinner, but He hates sin. Why do you think He drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden? Why didn’t He just forgive them and let them remain in that paradise? No sacrifice had been offered at that time that would erase their sin. God killed an animal and shed its blood so the skin could be used to cover the nakedness of Adam and Eve because they no longer had holy hearts or holy personalities. Sin and disobedience ruined their godlike personalities, and only the blood of Jesus would be able to once again give people hearts redeemed from all sin.
God has had so much trouble with man and woman, and He has worked and worked to bring them back to Him. When God made a Calvary, He gave His whole heart. He gave all of His love, all of His grace, all of His tender care, all of His compassion and all of His mercy.
It took everything God had to give all of that, and it took so much that God had to turn His back on His Beloved Son at Calvary to black out the scene. He closed His ears to His Son’s anguished cry, “My God, my God! Why hast thou forsaken me?” An incredible sacrifice was given to make man and woman pure and clean; so if redemption doesn’t come through Jesus, then it won’t come.
Many people have crossed over into the next world and been horrified to find themselves in a literal, burning hell. Their preacher may have stood over their caskets and preached them into Heaven, but they were not there. The devil has deceived many people into believing that no matter how they live, they will still go to Heaven when they die. They say, “Oh, he was a good person. He is in Heaven.”
Human goodness won’t take you to Heaven. The Bible says, Without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22). No remission of what?—of sin. A person can only be made new one way—through the blood of Jesus and the Word.
The Spirit Shows You Jesus
The Bride will have the characteristics and traits of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. That is the reason she will be so beautiful and so wonderful. Jesus as a man displayed all the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit because the human part of Him blended with the Holy Ghost.
The Bride will be led into the Gethsemane of prayers and up the mount of fasting. She will know how to talk to Heaven because part of Heaven lives on the inside of her. The Holy Ghost, a member of the Godhead, dwells there. The Holy Ghost seeks to blend all His greatness and power with the human personality. The Holy Ghost is a person; and if you don’t have Him, you need Him. If you think you have Him, you must check and make sure.
The Holy Ghost moved upon men of old, and they wrote what thus saith the Lord. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (II Peter 1:21). The prophecy referred to there is the Holy Bible.
The Holy Ghost rebukes all sin. He will reprove the world of sin…Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged (John 16:8,11). The Holy Ghost reveals the judgments of God and the perfect will of God. When Jesus was talking to the disciples about the Holy Ghost, He said, He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you (John 16:14).
You don’t have to wait for God to bestow His blessings on you because they are on the table for you all the time. The Holy Ghost leads you to the Lord’s table and shows you that it is always full of spiritual food. There is no scarcity. Jesus said, All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you (John 16:15). The Holy Ghost will show you all things because you are a joint-heir with Jesus. Through His blood, He is your elder brother.
Jesus told the disciples, I shall shew you plainly of the Father (John 16:25). As Jesus showed us the Father, the Holy Ghost has come to plainly show us the Son. He glorifies Jesus in each miracle and healing, and He points people in the direction of Calvary. They must enter the Kingdom through the strait gate to be able to reach the narrow road to Heaven.
You must walk with Jesus, not with the world. Use His opinions rather than your opinions or those of others. Heeding everything Jesus says and following every step He takes must be your top priorities. Cast aside everything unlike Jesus and live in one accord with Him. Agree with Him on all the scriptures He teaches you, and never try to modify them with your opinions.
The Holy Ghost Will Do So Much
When the Holy Ghost is blended into your personality, it forms a closer relationship than that of a husband and wife. He lives on the inside of you when you are baptized in His Spirit. Yield to Him; give yourself to Him and follow the paths He wants you to. He is the source of all wisdom and knowledge. He sees the future clearly, and there is no guesswork on His part.
When you have the Holy Ghost, you can go before your persecutors and take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost (Mark 13:11). Never will He give a false prophecy or speak a wrong word.
The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5). The Holy Ghost cannot shed abroad the love of God in your heart if you are not blended with His Spirit. Many claim to have the Holy Ghost; yet they carry malice, grudges, clamor, bitterness and resentment. The Holy Ghost cannot live in vessels such as those, and He does not blend with those kinds of works. The Holy Ghost breathes the air of Heaven and not that of a polluted atmosphere. If you yield to Him, He sheds abroad love and forgiveness, not hate and condemnation.
The human spirit is weak and cannot forgive easily. However, if the human leans toward the Holy Spirit so that the blend of the Spirit is there, the human can easily forgive. When the human spirit backs away and doesn’t feel the need or desire to really blend with the Holy Spirit, then the Holy Spirit leaves that one alone.
The human spirit is critical and apt to hurt others, and it is also able to be hurt. When your feelings are hurt, don’t go to people for comfort; yield to the Holy Spirit. Let His personality blend into yours, and that flow will make up the one personality that forgives and rises above hurt. Don’t struggle within self; forgive even before a person asks you to.
Vengeance Belongs to God
Jesus said, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24). When you fail to deny yourself, you will also fail to follow Jesus. If you follow people, you will act like them; but if you follow Jesus, you will act like Him. The Holy Spirit never tells you to look at people unless it is to behold a righteous one or mark the perfect one. Don’t look at those who are disobedient.
Self can choose to separate from the Holy Spirit or blend with Him. Self can separate you from the humility of the Holy Spirit and cause you to grieve Him. Then it is impossible for the Spirit to help you. Only when you yield to Him can the Holy Spirit help you. If you grieve the Spirit for too long, you will grieve Him right out of your life. One little grudge can destroy you just as lust can destroy you. Your eyes and ears must be clean and holy before God, so you dare not keep your eyes on that which is wrong.
Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity (Psalm 37:1). The Lord will take care of the evildoers, so turn people over to the Lord and place them in His hands. Don’t seek vengeance. The Bible says, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19).
Your job is to put your problems under the blood, and the Lord’s job is to take care of them. The enemies of the children of God are also God’s enemies, so He will handle them. Don’t carry the odor of the wicked with you. Unload them from your heart and give them over to the Lord to deal with.
Seek God’s Truth about You
Do you always feel that you are right, and others are wrong? Do you ever consider that you could be the one who is wrong? If you are having trouble with someone, take yourself and that person to the Lord; and let Him show you who is right and who is wrong. Seek God and get your answers from Him. Wait on Him for the truth.
If you have treated someone with anything other than God’s love and truth, you were the negligent one. Only through God’s love and truth can you treat people like Jesus would treat them. We are to love everyone, but there are some people who are impossible to like. You don’t have to like the ways of some people, but you must love their souls. God does not like some people either, but He loves their souls.
Couples argue because of a lack of truth and love. You won’t treat your companion right unless you do it through truth and love. Misunderstandings, hard feelings, resentment, jealousy and anger come about because of people having too little of God’s truth and love. My wife, Angel, and I got along beautifully because our spirits blended together with the Holy Spirit, and that is the way it is meant to be in all marriages. That is the way happiness flows from Heaven. God smiles every day on a marriage that is full of His love and truth. It is so sad that there have been so few marriages He could really smile on all the time.
Does Your Spirit Agree with the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit makes intercession for you in prayer. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:26,27).
Make sure every day and night that you are pure and clean and that you do not hinder the Holy Spirit from working through you. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh (Matthew 24:44). Jesus is coming after a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing (Ephesians 5:27). The Bride will be holy, but one speck of sin will wipe out that holiness. You could never be holy on your own; it takes the Holy Spirit to cleanse you through the blood of Jesus as you yield to Him.
Within yourself, you cannot defeat the devil because you are no match for him; but when you use the divine blood against him in the name of Jesus, it will put him to flight. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). You submit yourself unto God by being in perfect accord and harmony with the Holy Spirit.
Separate the Spirits
Can two walk together, except they be agreed (Amos 3:3)? You can’t have the Holy Spirit if you don’t agree with Him; and He will never agree with you in anything shady, underhanded, unholy or sinful. Study the works of the Holy Spirit, your spirit and the spirit of the devil so you will know the difference.
In 1954, the Lord gave me a great divine visitation. He spent so many days and nights with me that I lost count. During that time, He told me I would have to be able to separate the spirits. He told me to go to Akron, Ohio to establish a work for Him, and then He said He would send me to the world.
The Lord told me I had been taught by man in theological school; and then He said, “Now, you will be taught by the Holy Ghost.” He said I would have to be able to meet the very educated as well as the very uneducated, the very rich as well as the very poor. I have spent thousands and thousands of hours at the Lord’s feet day after day and year after year, always learning and coming into the knowledge of the truth.
Thank God for His wisdom and knowledge that teach the Bride to separate the spirits! Thus said the Lord, she will not listen to ministers who are false. She will not listen to false teachers, but many people have been brought into bondage by listening to the wrong messengers. People who preach false doctrine can influence you by the spirit of the devil going forth in their voices just like the Holy Spirit goes forth in the voice of a true servant of God. The devil’s seducing spirits take over people to turn them away from the truth and fill them with ego, and they will think they know more than those who are godly.
I want the truth, and I want to know if what I hear is in accord with the Word of God and uncontaminated by the flesh or the devil. If someone were to give you a pie with just a little poison on one side, would you eat it hoping that the part you ate was all right? Of course not, and it makes just as little sense to listen to preachers who mix a little false doctrine in with the truth. Both of those things can be deadly.
We live in the world; but we are not to be a part of it, its lust or its sins. We are to be separated into the holiness of God all the time. Each member of the bridal company must move into the greatness of God, and the Lord is calling for others to join them. Are you going to move?
You Must Be Cleansed
Do you want to be a part of God’s great plan? Do you want to live in that heavenly Eden where the river of life flows freely and where the tree of life gives forth its fruit all the time? It is all offered to you, but it is dependent upon you taking Jesus into your heart and being born new. Oh, God, I pray that you can move them. I pray that they will all yield to your Spirit, multitudes of people. Oh, God, help them to yield.
If you don’t know the Lord and you want Him in your heart, pray the sinner’s prayer with me now. Oh, God, save my soul! I am so sorry that I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I’m going to serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come; and He is yours. Walk with Him. Walk in the Spirit, and you won’t fulfill the lust of the flesh.
You Can Be Healed
The gifts of healing and the gift of miracles have all the power of healing you need for all diseases, afflictions and deformities. Jesus said, All things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). When Jairus’ daughter had died, Jesus said to him, Be not afraid, only believe (Mark 5:36). When Jesus and Jairus arrived at Jairus’ house, Jesus put the unbelievers out of the house and took the little girl by the hand; and she arose and walked.
If you need healing today, or if your little one is ill, use faith and believe God for the miracle. I am not a healer; Jesus is the healer, but I believe in the power of prayer. Lord, I bring the sick, the afflicted and the deformed to you. I bring all these people to you. From your wonderful, supernatural gift of miracles and gifts of healing the miracles come through the power of the Holy Ghost and in the name of your Son, Jesus. Heal! Heal! in the name of the Lord.
The Holy Spirit is flowing the power of the Lord to you; you just have to accept it. Don’t you feel that holy power and holy presence flowing into your body or into the body of your little one? Don’t doubt it. Believe it and watch it work day after day to get you or your loved ones well. Then write, email or send a message through social media and tell us about it. Let us help you rejoice over what the Lord has done for you this day. The Lord loves you, and you are special to Him.
Hear what the Lord is saying. Hear the pure Word of God. Know what the Lord is going to do for His people and how He is pouring out His power in this last hour. Then praise Him for the marvelous gifts of His Son and the Holy Ghost. Dear God, we thank you for sending Jesus! We thank you, Jesus, for praying to the Father to send us the good Holy Ghost! We thank you, precious Lord, that we have the baptism of the Holy Spirit living and dwelling on the inside of us!
Thus Saith the Lord
Pride goeth before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. Disobedience is never rewarded with my goodness and my greatness. Disobedience, unholy living separate man from his God. I will not walk with disobedience. I will not walk with the unfaithful in this last hour. I will walk with the obedient. I will flow my blessings to the obedient.
People will hear my voice, and those that heed will be drawn to me. Those that will not obey me will cease to hear my voice. Those that continue to disobey me even in little things, my voice will become fainter and fainter. I will not deal with them in my gracious love as I have done in the past. They will not have the opportunities they have had in the past.
The hour is a late one, and I am gathering unto myself the ones that will be completely yielded to my Holy Spirit. I hear the cry of the lost, and I am moved on my throne of mercy and greatness. They must hear, and they must hear the pure truth; and they must be introduced to the Spirit of truth. They must have my baptism of the Holy Ghost so that they can learn about my greatness and learn about all of my ways of love and help for them. They are without understanding. My Spirit will give them understanding. My Spirit will give them wisdom and knowledge.
They will come into my greatness in such a miraculous way that they will learn so much of me in moments of time. I will reveal my glory unto them, and only the obedient will be able to lift me up to them so that they can see my glory. Holy, pure, clean, holy hands will be the hands that will lift up my glory so the people can see. Only the pure, pure and clean with no specks of contamination, not one speck, will I beam my light through of greatness; and that is the reason multitudes will come into my knowledge in moments of time. They will be given so much knowledge with their gift of salvation. I will be generous unto them.
The great awakening of the Spirit is waking the people, and they behold; and those that choose the God that made them will be delivered and will come into their right minds with my knowledge and love and will become soul winners at once, soul winners helping to bring in the harvest, saith the Lord.
