The Curse and the Remedy
by Ernest Angley
October 2007
The only curse we should think about is God’s curse that He brought against sin, disobedience, unrighteousness, unholiness. What a curse it was, affecting men and women and everything they touched, earth, animals, birds, trees, grass, flowers! Merely existing was a struggle. In Eden, however, all was in perfection. God never intended a curse to come to that perfection; He never intended man or woman to sin.
People may claim to be able to put a curse on you; but if you are a child of God, no one, devil nor man, can do that. You can’t put a curse on the divine blood of Jesus Christ; it was sin that caused man to be cursed by God. People in sin have the curse of God upon them, upon their soul. If they die in that condition, the curse will remain on them forever. In every way God tried to give man power over the curse so man could come into the righteousness of God. For thousands of years He worked to deliver man and woman from the curse, but deliverance would take divine blood.
The Devil Curses His Own Followers
In my family when I was a child, witchcraft was unknown; we didn’t realize it was real, nor did we know voodooism was real. Halloween didn’t trouble us; we thought it was a big fun game with nothing real about it. But one day I woke up to the fact that there was something very real about it: the curse of the devil.
The devil puts curses on his own followers, that’s how much love he has for them. In witchcraft, the devil reigns with curses.
However, children of God with the divine blood on their soul cannot be cursed; Jesus’ divine blood has protected them, sealed them from all curses. The Holy Spirit seals your soul from sin with divine blood. When that seal is upon your soul, you have no curse upon you. You have been delivered; your soul is safe from all curses. The curse of God for sin has been lifted from you. No one can break that seal except you yourself.
God didn’t want to give His Son, Jesus, as a sacrifice, but the curse had to be conquered and no other power could do it. The blood of animals wouldn’t work to lift that curse. The Lord used the blood of animals under the Law, but that blood couldn’t destroy sin. Only divine blood could do that.
Fig Leaf Religion Doesn’t Cover Sin
Adam and Eve tried “fig leaf religion” after they had sinned. They made aprons of fig leaves to cover their nakedness, but their efforts failed. They were unable to cover their sin. Nothing but divine blood can cover sin. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22).
Without the shedding of divine blood there is no forgiveness for sins, no conquering power over that awful curse that is upon us the moment we are born.
All Have Sinned
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Romans 5:12). Because the curse came on everyone, all have sinned. You come into this world with a curse upon you. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Think of the blank, the gray places in your past that came about because you were born into a world of bondage, born under the curse that Adam, the head of the human race, had brought upon everyone.
The Wages of Sin
A remedy for the curse had to be made. That remedy was found only in Jesus Christ. People can’t find it anywhere else on Earth or in Heaven. The only deliverer for you is Jesus the Son of the Living God. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). The gift of deliverance from the curse comes through Jesus Christ, the gift of eternal life. Death, as we learn here, is the wage of sin. Who would willingly work for such a wage?
People will live under the curse and feel good about it, not believing they will die without God. They assume that one day they will find Jesus—if they know anything about Him. However, they have no guarantee of life, no thought of sudden death that could take them to hell at any time. Before they know it they could be in eternity without a prayer, lost and eternally damned. After death no one has a second chance.
Most Are Not Aware of the Curse
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). While mankind was still under the curse, Christ died for all. What an awful curse it was! Think about it: Everyone who is not free through Jesus Christ has that curse resting on him or her day and night, and most are not even conscious of it. They can never live in God’s Heaven if they don’t get rid of that curse, never find peace at the end of the way, never find joy no matter what they say or think.
The Only Remedy
What the Bible has to say about sin is what counts. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures [Yes, Christ is the remedy, the only remedy to lift the curse that Adam and Eve brought on themselves and all mankind]; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures (I Corinthians 15:1-4). The devil can’t do away with what is written in the Word of God.
Is Your Soul Free?
God sent His Son so that the curse could be lifted from everyone who wants to be free of it. God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved (John 3:17).
If you have Jesus Christ, your soul is free; and your soul free in the Lord is the real you, free as the soul the Lord gave Adam before the fall.
A free soul is the only kind of soul that God intended man and woman to have. A soul free through the divine blood can live forever. What a great price Heaven had to pay to bring about redemption after sin entered the world, to deliver people from that awful curse of sin! Never has there been a curse like it, yet people will carry that curse thinking nothing of it, for they are dead in their soul. They don’t realize they have no life, no contact with God whatsoever. How pathetic!
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him (John 3:36).
None Other Name
You have to believe on Jesus Christ. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). No other name but Jesus Christ, no other name can lift the curse from you.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 3:11). You cannot get through one of the gates of Glory depending on any other foundation than Jesus; you cannot get through with the curse upon you. The curse of sin is destructive; it’s death, death, death. The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:20). Why? Because the curse is death, eternal death, eternal night, eternal darkness and suffering in hell where their worm [the soul] dieth not, and the fire is not quenched (Mark 9:44).
A Fire Never Quenched
Some with this curse upon them are deceived by the devil, who tells them that no fire is in hell; they had best wake up and accept the Word of God. Jesus Himself said there is fire in hell: It is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched (Mark 9:43). Let the Word of God penetrate into your innermost being.
Think how Jesus suffered when He came down to Earth in human form to deliver us from the curse. Remember, when you’re born new you’re delivered from the curse, the greatest deliverance mankind can have; no other deliverance can compare. You’re delivered from that shackle you were born with, that chain that bound you at birth. Born again you’re free to live a life of righteousness and holiness, free from all sin to walk like Jesus walked, and talk like Him. You’re just like Jesus.
God So Loved
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). The curse was lifted. Why? Because God so loved mankind that since Calvary we don’t have that curse. Jesus took it away for all who will accept Him. We’re free; we don’t have to be afraid of any curse.
Man can’t put a curse on us; the devil can’t put a curse on us when we are protected by the divine blood. The devil couldn’t have put a curse on Adam and Eve; they put it on themselves by yielding to sin. They didn’t have to yield to it. None of us have to yield to sin. When you’re saved from sin, you’re free; you have the power to overcome sin, the power to walk like Jesus walked, wearing His shoes. You have the divine blood on the soul that gives you life eternal.
Sons and Daughters of God
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). We did not come into the world as sons or daughters of God. We came with the curse upon us; we were born cursed, and only through Jesus can we be cured, delivered from the curse. Jesus gave power to become sons and daughters of God to all who believe on His name.
Be Free from the Curse!
Thank God for the plan of redemption! Thank God we are free! If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36). No curse is there when the Son sets you free! You’re either free, or else in bondage. The curse is upon you, or else you are delivered from it. There is no halfway between freedom and bondage. If you haven’t been set free from the curse, you are in bondage and need to come over to God’s side.
Jesus is offering His nail-riven hands to you; unless you accept His blood, you will never be delivered from the curse, that eternal curse. You’ll be cursed in outer darkness as the eternal ages roll. Never any deliverance, never an offer of salvation or redemption, never any freedom will you know. No happiness, nothing wonderful and great will be yours. That’s the reason we go forth night and day to get this message to the world: The soul that sinneth shall die.
I go before thousands and thousands of people, acres of people telling them the story that they can be free from witchcraft, voodooism and all the darknesses of the devil. They can be free from the curse that fell upon Adam and Eve, the curse they were born under. I bring them Jesus; they can be free through Him! I speak His name and thousands are delivered, thousands are set free through that holy name.
Delivering Power in the Name of Jesus
Power is in the name of Jesus, the power of deliverance, and it works. Not only the deliverer of our souls, Jesus is the deliverer of physical afflictions and diseases. He is our sickness bearer as well as our sin bearer. When Jesus came to Earth in physical form He healed all manner of sicknesses and diseases, and He is still healing today: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). Sickness comes from the devil, not from God. Sickness has no love in it, no happiness, no strength, no goodness. God’s love is not in sickness; His love is in delivering people from sickness. You see God reflected in His healing.
God is life; no death is in Him. Death, I say again, is in the devil and his death kingdom. The soul that sinneth, the soul in his kingdom is death. It’s bad enough for death to be in you temporarily, but for it to be eternal is horrible beyond the imagination. If you don’t get right with God, one day that death will be eternally abiding in you. The soul that sinneth shall die.
Salvation Isn’t through Works
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9). Through faith you are saved. Faith in what? Faith in Jesus, faith in the divine blood He brought from Heaven and shed on Calvary. Not by your works are you saved; you’re saved through the divine blood.
Salvation is a gift from God. Not by self-faith, not by human faith, but by divine faith your salvation comes. Human faith cannot break that bondage of sin, cannot destroy that curse. It takes divine blood only. Thank God for the blood of Jesus!
Many people look on their works as their deliverance, their passport to Heaven, but this verse in Ephesians clearly states that salvation does not come through their works. Works will not deliver a soul from hell; people are in bondage still if they have not used the divine blood. If they die in that bondage, they will not get to Heaven. The Bible is quite plain about the curse and the remedy. When you try to do away with the curse but don’t use the blood of Jesus, you are actually doing away with Jesus the Son of God, crucifying Him anew.
Open the Door to Jesus
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20). Jesus is there knocking, Sinner, on your door. You are in a cursed condition. What can bring you out? Opening the door of your heart and asking Jesus to come in with His blood to bring you deliverance. Ask Him to come in and take the curse away from your life. Oh, Jesus, give me life!
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me (John 10:27). You must hear the voice of Jesus, for He is the only one who can deliver you; there’s no deliverance from any other source. He is the door; He is life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber (John 10:1). If you try to be saved any other way than through the divine blood, you are a thief and a robber. The curse is on all robbers, on anyone who is trying to make side doors to get into Heaven. Only through Jesus, the Word made flesh who lived among us, can you be saved. All who accept the living Word are delivered, set free. Why do we shout and praise God? Because we have no curse upon us, no bondage. We are free to live forever and ever! Thank God! As long as God lives we will live. As long as Jesus lives we will live. As long as the Holy Spirit lives we will live. Doesn’t that thought thrill you through and through? It’s wonderful, powerful to me to think we can live in Heaven eternally!
Confess Your Faith in Jesus
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. What does it mean to be saved? It means deliverance, to be healed of all your sins, cured of the curse, and to be like Adam and Eve before they sinned. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:8-10). With the heart through the blood, people believe unto righteousness. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (II Corinthians 5:21). When you accept Jesus into your heart, He takes your sins so that you can be made righteous through the divine blood. Some people are not sure of their salvation. That means they have not really been born again.
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 10:32). You confess Jesus Christ, the Savior who redeemed you, before people. In Heaven, Jesus is saying, “Father, this is another son; this is another daughter.” If you’re not living like Jesus, you have no confession of deliverance. You just have words that mean nothing. Not words of edification, they are words of destruction.
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son [The Son, I say again, is the remedy for the curse. If you die with the curse upon you, never forget that hell is your destiny]. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life [If you don’t have Jesus Christ, you have no life]. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God (I John 5:11-13). There is no other name to set you free from the curse.
The Second Adam Didn’t Fail
While this curse is hanging over the hearts and lives of the majority of people on Earth, we the born-again don’t have that to contend with. When we’ve been made sons and daughters through the blood of Jesus, it’s the same as though we have never known sin.
The first Adam, remember, failed and was replaced so many years later by the second Adam, Jesus. The first Adam sold us into slavery of the devil, sold us into bondage. What awful sorrow he brought us into! Nothing good, everything evil was the result. But the second Adam came, the perfect Adam. No fault was found in Him, no guile in His mouth; He was without sin.
Since the first Adam created to never sin failed, now, only those whose sins have been washed away through the blood of Jesus can be sons and daughters of God.
Sin is bondage; sin is the curse; sin is to blame for all sorrows, all heartaches, all sicknesses, everything unpleasant. If the Lord can’t destroy the sin in your life, if you won’t yield to the blood of Jesus, then you will die with the curse upon you and you will go to that awful, cursed place called hell, and into the lake of fire. Never will you find redemption; God will shut you away from His sight forever, forget about you to never remember you again.
My Greatest Day
But today God remembers you. I have given you plenty of scriptures to back up what I have told you. It’s whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me (Mark 8:34). You will never forget the time that the awful curse was destroyed in your life and you took up your cross to follow Jesus. I know exactly when sin was destroyed in my life, where it happened, how it happened. It was the greatest day I had ever experienced.
As a youngster with that curse upon me, I didn’t see how I could be happy without taking part in sin. I didn’t think I needed money to be happy; I thought I just had to have sin. My family enjoyed much happiness without money. Only when I got very, very old, about ninety, then maybe I could be happy without sin. I thought age was the key to serving God and still being happy. I was young; how could I be happy without sin?
To be saved, I knew I couldn’t sin even a bit. Where could I find anything to enjoy outside of the curse, I wondered. I wasn’t worried about the curse at that time, anyway. I thought I had plenty of time, that one day I would find the Lord when I really needed Him. Don’t keep hell burning for me, Lord, I’m not going to be there. I knew hell was hot, eternal; nevertheless, I wanted to have a whoopee time in the world. That was a dangerous frame of mind. I could have been destroyed living like that. It’s fearful to walk in the night and not know it, not understanding where you’re stepping. But when you have the light, when the curse is not upon you, you know that every step is one of faith landing on the promises of God. You can get off the boat and actually walk the waters in the Spirit and be free.
The Curse Was Lifted from Me
I’m glad that at eighteen I gave my life to the Lord. The curse was lifted and then I really began to live. At eighteen when I received salvation, I realized my old life was only ashes all the time, but I didn’t have wisdom enough to know it. I didn’t know what it was to be free from the curse.
After I was free, I just wanted to be with the Lord night and day, to walk and talk with Him, to listen to Him talk to me. The fellowship with Jesus was the most wonderful experience I could imagine. The Word was a great light to me, such a comfort! The Holy Ghost became my teacher, and what love and grace He brought! To be able to have a true roadmap all the way to Glory was marvelous! To know in whom I believed, to know that Jesus was all mine thrilled me through and through!
I’m still free today; no curse is on me. I tell the people in every country I go to that no one can put a curse on me because I have the blood; I have the remedy. No one can put a curse on any child of God when he or she has the blood of Jesus in the soul; that one is free, free, free! Living in fear is living in the night.
Are You Ready for Heaven?
However, some of you won’t come all the way, won’t give up all of the curse and use divine faith in the blood of Jesus. You think you couldn’t be absolutely free. Maybe you won’t give up the past. You endured an awful childhood, were never taught about Jesus and His blood, His love. But you’ve been taught now, so why not let the blood of Jesus wipe all that out of your memory?
Paul said, This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before (Philippians 3:13). The present is what counts; this is where you live. You can’t live in tomorrow today, nor can you live in yesterday. Yesterday is gone forever; and only time can take you into tomorrow, not wishing, not tears, not even prayers.
Sinner, Backslider, how many more ticks of the clock do you have to make your choice for eternity? Your time will be up one of these days. Will you be ready for Heaven? The best thing is to get ready now. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation) (II Corinthians 6:2). Now is the day of salvation! Now is the time for you, according to the Word of the Living God. Reach out and make the most of the time you have left.
Jesus Conquered the Death-Walk
You don’t live in fear when you live in the light. In the light you can see things for what they are because you have the blood; you can see that those things cannot destroy you. In the light, you can have full assurance of God’s delivering power. There is no darkness walking with Jesus Christ; it’s light all the way, even in death. When Jesus conquered death, He took all the darkness out of the death-walk for us, and that death-walk became a life-walk. In just one step from this life our feet can land on the shores of sweet deliverance forevermore. How wonderful that is, how great!
We walk in the light, not in the night, knowing that Jesus is soon coming. That’s the reason we’re taking Jesus to the world. We must tell the world about this; we don’t have long; none of us have long. Rushing to get the roadmap to everyone we can, we cry: Here’s the Jesus way, the Jesus will for you! Come and get it! And the multitudes are coming.
Considering the millions whom we touch by television, radio, the printed page and the website every week, we’re reaching to the ends of the earth. Praise God forevermore! I love Jesus, I love His life, His deliverance.
It’s wonderful to not walk in fear, but to walk in the faith of God, to walk knowing you’re free in His love, His grace and free in His faith. You don’t have to cling to your little raft, afraid to step out; you have God’s promises to sustain you; Jesus is walking with you no matter how dangerous your path looks. Knowing He is there, you don’t have to be afraid.
That raft didn’t have much safety, but it was all you had to depend on when the curse was on you. But when you are delivered, you have the promises of God, more solid than the earth or anything on the earth. You’re not going to sink; you’re going to stay on top; you’re not going under; you’re going over. That’s a good feeling! You’re going over because you’re going with Jesus.
I want to run throughout the whole world crying, Come on! We’re going for Jesus. We’re on our way to Heaven; don’t you want to come with us? Come on and join us; you can have life forever! Come and breathe life, real life!
Jesus carried the Cross for us, and since He did, we have life. The Cross is the key to all the joy and happiness you could ever need or want. Jesus brought the cure for depression, despair and sickness, all of it. Jesus is the redemption for it all.
Have You Said the Sinners’ Prayer?
If you are not free, if you are under the curse, you can come out. I’ve brought you the remedy: Jesus. He died for you, was resurrected for you. He’s at the right hand of the Father to make intercession for you right now. Knocking on your door, He wants to come in. Don’t you hear that knock on your heart’s door?
Open the door and say the sinners’ prayer with me if you are not saved. Oh, God, I’m lost. The curse is upon me, that awful sin curse. That means death is upon me as well. My soul is dead and it must be resurrected through the divine blood that you brought. I confess my faith in your blood. I believe in you, Jesus! I know you died for me, and I believe that your precious blood washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, now you can say, Jesus is mine! Hallelujah, I’m free! No curse is upon you now; you’re cured. You have found the cure, Jesus.
Jesus Is the Remedy for Sickness
You who are sick and afflicted, remember, the remedy is Jesus. I bring Him to you; let His power flow through you as I pray. These gifts of healing and the gift of miracles are in my life. They are divine gifts operated by the Holy Spirit. Lord, I bring those with AIDS, HIV, heart and lung trouble, paralysis, leprosy; I bring those with diabetes and cancer and all other death diseases. Heal! Heal! in the blood name of Jesus! Heal in the all-powerful blood name!
Don’t you feel His presence flowing into you now? Don’t you feel that the place you are in has filled up with life, taking the curse of sickness from your life? He took that curse from me many years ago when I had been so close to the grave. He delivered me from that curse of sickness and disease when He healed me all over. Thank God I was free! It’s wonderful to be free. Write and tell me what happened to you today.
You have the message written in divine blood. Without the divine blood all would be worthless, for only the divine blood can set you free from sin and seal your soul with such blood power that no one can break that seal except you yourself through willful sin. To keep you free from sin, the seal on your soul has to be the divine blood of Jesus. Thank God who sets you free; thank God for that holy blood seal! In this the final hour we all should be full of the divine blood-Gospel of Christ, full of His grace.
Don’t ever forget this message; God gave it to me to give to you. Keep these scriptures in mind; be able to repeat them to others and let them know they, too, can be free. God bless you!
