The Comforter, the Holy Ghost, has come. Are you letting Him comfort you and take His rightful place in your life? Are you letting Him lead and guide you? You must give over to the Holy Ghost every moment of the day and allow Him to have His way.

Jesus knew we needed the Holy Ghost, but He had to go away before the Spirit could come to us. Jesus said, I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you (John 16:7). You have to spend many hours with the Comforter so He can groom you for your work ahead and bring you into greater and greater ways of the Lord.

Jesus knew how important the coming of the Comforter would be to people, and you must understand that as well. You must seek Him, accept Him and yield to Him. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you (John 14:16-18). Before Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He was the disciples’ comforter; but after He left, the Holy Spirit came as the Comforter who will never leave us.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). You must be very mindful of the Comforter and yield yourself to Him at all times so He can lead you into the whole truth and comfort you in all your afflictions. He will bring all things the Lord has said to your remembrance when you need them.

But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me (John 15:26). The Holy Spirit knows all about Jesus, so He will testify of Him and glorify Him. I don’t know how anybody can make it in this life without the Holy Ghost.

Let the Spirit Guide You

You must realize the necessity of receiving the Comforter and allow Him to take center stage in your life. If you don’t allow that to happen, you will come up lacking in times of trouble. In those times when you have no idea what to do or even how to pray, you will only make it by yielding to the Spirit. He will intercede for you according to the will of God. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:26,27).

The Spirit can only intercede for you if you spend time with Him. He has so much work He wants to get done, but He can’t use you to do it unless you yield completely to Him. There will always be people who think they know what you should do, but pay no attention to them. You have to seek God for yourself and let the Holy Spirit guide you. He is the one who knows what God’s will is for you, and He knows exactly what you should do or say in any situation.

Some of you don’t always pray for God’s will to be done in your life, and that is why you don’t get the answers you need. Then you become discouraged. When you let the Holy Ghost take center stage all the time, you will pray the right way and get answers.

Stay in love with the Word of God, and that will keep you alive with Heaven’s greatness. Then you won’t be discouraged because with God, you will have nothing to be discouraged about. Also, don’t hang around with people who always talk about discouraging things, or they will hinder you. The Lord said our conversation is to be the same now as it will be when we are in Heaven. For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20).

Yield to the Spirit

If you have received the Holy Ghost, do you just have Him; or does He have you? You must keep the Holy Ghost fire burning within you by always yielding to and leaning on Him. You can’t lean on yourself or other people.

Paul said, Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Ephesians 6:18). Many people think that verse means they must pray in tongues all the time, but that is not so. It means you must always be in agreement with the Spirit.

You must allow the Holy Ghost to increase within you; and self must decrease if you want righteousness, peace and joy in the Spirit. Paul wrote, For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17). When you let the Holy Ghost increase in your life, you will be amazed at how the things you thought were so necessary aren’t really necessary after all.

The Comforter was sent because we need Him. This is an hour of many uncertainties; but even so, God’s children are to be the happiest people on Earth. Heaven came down to us so we could call Heaven any time we need more love, faith, strength or anything of God. Jesus said, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Matthew 7:7).

John the Baptist recognized Jesus to be the promised Messiah, and he stepped back and let Jesus take over. The Holy Ghost is our promised Comforter, so we must recognize Him, receive Him and let Him take over. Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:38,39).

John the Baptist said, He [Jesus] must increase, but I must decrease (John 3:30). In the same way, you must allow the Holy Ghost to increase within you and take center stage in your life.

The Holy Ghost Must Have Control

If you allow the Holy Ghost to increase in your life, the things you do will be acts of the Holy Ghost. The book of the Acts of the Apostles should have been named the Acts of the Holy Ghost because the apostles were led by the Holy Ghost in all that was recorded in that book.

The Holy Spirit knows everything, so you can talk to Him and ask Him for whatever you need. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13).

It is impossible for the Holy Ghost to increase in your life if you are not willing to give up the driver’s seat. I’m sure you have been in a vehicle when someone else was driving, and you tried to help them drive. You may have said, “Watch out for that car,” or “Do you see that light?” You can’t act like that with the Holy Ghost. You have to let Him be in control.

Jesus said, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me (Luke 9:23). Jesus is our example, and the Holy Ghost is the one who will help you follow Him. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps (I Peter 2:21).

The Holy Spirit is vital to you, but how much you yield to Him will determine whether or not He will increase or decrease in your life. You can’t let anything cause you to tie the hands of God or the Holy Ghost. Israel did that; and the Bible says, Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel (Psalm 78:41).

Heirs with Christ

The Holy Ghost will be your teacher. Jesus said, He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you (John 16:14). The Holy Ghost doesn’t glorify Himself; He glorifies Jesus Christ and the Father. He will show you what the Father ordained His Son, Jesus, to have and then show you that you are a joint-heir with Jesus. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16,17). As a child of God, you are rich; and you may not even realize it.

People on Earth will pay huge sums of money for gold, silver, pearls and other beautiful stones; but in Heaven, gold is used for pavement. Each of the twelve gates to that heavenly city is made of one huge pearl. Those things would cost trillions of dollars here on Earth, and that city belongs to you.

Jesus said, All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he [the Holy Spirit] shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you (John 16:15).

Never Hinder Divinity

The Early Church disciples depended on the Holy Ghost, and so must you. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:29,31). The Lord will give you that same boldness, but you can’t ever compromise with man or the world.

You can’t let anything stop you. You must be led by the Holy Ghost every day. He has all the powers of Heaven, and He will magnify Jesus in you. According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death (Philippians 1:20).

You have to be ready to face life or death just as Paul was. When he was soon to be beheaded by Nero, he wrote Timothy one last letter saying, I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing (II Timothy 4:6-8). Only through the Holy Ghost could Paul say that.

Prepare for the Comforter

The Comforter has come, so you must give Him place in your life and let Him be all He wants to be. He is on a divine mission to get a Bride ready for Jesus. If you want to be a part of that Bride, you must give the Holy Ghost freedom and let Him have His way. That is the only way you will be ready for Jesus’ return. You must be able to say as Jesus did, Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:42).

Sinner, Backslider, come to Jesus today. You can’t have the Comforter until you first have Jesus in your heart. Say the sinner’s prayer right now and invite Jesus in. Oh, God, save my soul! I’m so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I will serve you, Lord, the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!

If you meant that prayer, you can now say, Hallelujah, Jesus has come! Hallelujah, Jesus is mine!

Now, you must go on to receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost, so the Comforter will be yours. Begin praising the Lord with your whole heart until the Spirit comes in and speaks through you in a heavenly language. He is power from On High. Study the second chapter of Acts, and tell the Lord you want the same experience He poured out on the Day of Pentecost. He is still pouring out the Spirit today like He did then but in an even greater way.

Healing Can Be Yours

If you need healing today, your miracle is on the Lord’s table. All you have to do is reach for it, and you can be healed. The miracles Christ did when He was on Earth are still being done today, and they are just as great now as they were in Christ’s day. The Bible said the time would come when the miracle works of God would be so great that when you heard about them, you wouldn’t believe them. For I will work a work in your days which ye will not believe, though it be told you (Habakkuk 1:5). That time is now.

Lord, you are the healer, and you can heal the people today. In the name of your Son, Jesus, I curse all their afflictions—AIDS, diabetes, leprosy, cancer, heart trouble, lung disease, paralysis and anything else that may be tormenting them. Heal! Heal in the all-powerful name of Jesus! The healing power is flowing to you. Believe and be made whole!

I love to preach the Word; and I love to have Him confirm it with signs, wonders, miracles and healings. Then I give Him all the honor, praise and glory. The miracles are the work of the great God; man can’t do such things. Everything you need is in the power of the divine blood. Accept what God is pouring out to you and praise Him for it.

Are There Conditions for Receiving the Holy Ghost?

by Steve Millar

It is necessary for all people to receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost, but it is up to you to decide if you are going to allow the Holy Ghost to become real in your life. Many people believe in the Holy Ghost; and they probably pray in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Unfortunately, they don’t know enough about the Holy Ghost for Him to be a reality to them.

The baptism of the Holy Ghost is a promise just like salvation is a promise; but just as receiving salvation is conditional, so is the baptism of the Holy Ghost. The Bible says, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). The promise says the Lord will cleanse you from all unrighteousness, but you must first meet the condition of that promise and confess your sins.

Receiving salvation and the baptism of the Holy Ghost are two separate events. That is why Jesus told the disciples, Behold, I send the promise of my Father [the Holy Ghost] upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49).

Jesus knew how important it was for them to receive the Holy Ghost and how much they needed more power from On High.

Yield to the Holy Ghost

If you have the Holy Ghost today, what type of relationship do you have with Him? Is He a part of your daily walk with the Lord, or is He just someone you seek in your times of need? When everything in your life is going well, do you still feel the need to draw on the Holy Ghost? When trials come, most children of God will pull on the Lord and seek the Holy Ghost’s guidance; but when the trial is over, they forget about the Holy Ghost and neglect Him until their next trial.

In our lives, no two days are the same. Each day has different circumstances, and we come in contact with people who have different personalities and different moods. There are many variables that occur every day, and only the Holy Ghost can help you deal with them.

The Holy Ghost will always be there to help you throughout each day, but you have to yield to Him. He is the one who will make intercession for you. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26).

When you pray, do you have the reality of the presence of the Holy Ghost being with you? Are you receiving godly thoughts? The Holy Ghost wants to give you so much godly knowledge. He wants to make Himself so real to you, but you have to yield to Him and get to know Him as a person.

Let the Spirit Teach You

Did you ever have a friend who only called on you when he needed something; but when you needed him, he was not available or could not be bothered? After a while, you probably didn’t consider him much of a friend. Are you treating the Holy Ghost the same way, or would He say you are a good friend to Him? Are you reliable, dependable and there when He needs you?

Your relationship with the Holy Ghost can’t be one-sided, or you will grieve Him to the point where He will move away from you. You must always be sensitive to the move of the Spirit; but if self is on the throne, the Holy Ghost will take a back seat in your life.

The disciples knew the importance of having a relationship with the Holy Ghost, and it brought them much joy. And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost (Acts 13:52). Being filled with the Holy Ghost and being full of the Holy Ghost are two different things. When you receive the Holy Ghost, you are filled with Him; but when you are full of the Holy Ghost, you are completely yielded to Him, and He can have His way with you all the time.

When you receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues, that is just the beginning. The Bible tells us that the Holy Ghost will be our teacher, our guide and our comforter; but what good is it to have a teacher if you are not willing to listen to Him? What good is it to have a guide if you are not willing to follow Him, or to have a comforter if you are not willing to let Him comfort you in your time of need?

The more you yield to the Holy Ghost, the more He will be able to teach you, guide you and comfort you. That is why it is essential for the Holy Ghost to be living and dwelling on the inside of you.

Be Full of the Holy Ghost

For he [Barnabas] was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord (Acts 11:24). Because Barnabas was full of the Holy Ghost, he had divine faith and divine love working in him; and he won many souls. When you have divine compassion for lost souls, people will see that compassion and the love you have for their soul. Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous (I Peter 3:8).

The disciples had love and compassion for lost souls; and the Bible says, And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord (Acts 11:21). When you are yielded to the Holy Ghost, the hand of the Lord will be upon you too. He will give you a burden for lost souls, and He will manifest His fruits in your life.

Barnabas and Paul prayed, fasted and gave their lives completely into the hands of the Lord. They were focused on souls and yielded to the Holy Ghost, and the Spirit used them in a great way. The harvest field of lost souls belongs to the Holy Ghost, and God has ordained Him to reap the harvest through people; so the Holy Ghost was directing Barnabas and Paul.

The Holy Ghost is still directing God’s children today to bring in the harvest, and He has made souls ready to receive. The Holy Ghost is making people realize that something is missing in their lives, and He is sending us to let them know that Jesus is the one they are missing. All we have to do is let the Holy Ghost direct us to those souls.

The Spirit Must Dwell Within

The Holy Ghost will enable you to serve divine love, and that is what this world needs. Paul had that divine love; and he wrote, That ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge (Ephesians 3:17–19). It is wonderful when the Holy Ghost can flow to you the same divine love Jesus delivered when He was on Earth.

The Holy Ghost will make the price Jesus paid for you a reality when you are full of Him. He will produce His fruits in your life and make you complete. The Holy Ghost will use God’s ultimate anointing through you, but that anointing has to be in your soul for Him to be able to use it. If you don’t have the Holy Ghost living and dwelling on the inside of you, you will never have the fullness of divinity in your life.

If you want to please God, you must be baptized in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. It is not an option; it is a commandment. The Bible says that Jesus commanded them [the disciples] that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me (Acts 1:4).

The Lord gave Rev. Angley the book Things You Need to Know about the Holy Ghost, and that book explains the seven conditions you must meet to be able to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. If you have been actively seeking the Holy Ghost but don’t seem to be getting anywhere, you need to weigh yourself on these seven conditions to see if you meet the qualifications.

Forgive Others

The first condition is that you must have forgiveness in your heart. Just as God forgave you, you must carry that same forgiveness to others. For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses (Matthew 6:14,15). That is a profound scripture. You need to forgive others for what they have done to you if you want forgiveness in return.

I talked with a father who shared a tragic and heart-wrenching story with me. One day, he received news that no parent ever wants to hear—his 11-year-old son had been stabbed to death. He was shocked and devastated, but there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t turn back time and prevent the attack from happening.

The devil began bringing all kinds of torment to that father’s mind because he wanted to destroy him with anger and resentment. The devil continued planting those seeds until the father’s soul was on the verge of being destroyed. The only way he was able to come out of that dark valley with victory was to yield to the divine love and grace of God and take on the spirit of divine forgiveness for the person who had unjustly taken his son’s life.

If you had been in that father’s position, would you have come out of the valley on the side of divine forgiveness? Paul wrote, Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled (Hebrews 12:14,15).

You can’t ever let bitterness and resentment take over your heart and defile you. The Holy Ghost will not reside in a vessel that has bitterness and resentment in it toward others.

Become a Child of God

The second condition is sonship. If you want to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, you must become a son or a daughter of God. Your soul must be cleansed of every sin through the blood of Jesus. Only then will the Holy Ghost be able to dwell on the inside of you. Would you want to move into a house that was filthy and full of clutter? Of course you wouldn’t. So why do you think the Holy Ghost would want to move into a vessel that is contaminated? He will not do it.

When you become a son or daughter of God, He will send forth His Spirit into your heart. Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ (Galatians 4:6,7).

There are many people today who claim they are Christians, but they live like the world. The Bible says, Ye shall know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:16). If a person is living unholy, they are not one of God’s children; and they do not meet the condition of sonship. They are considered to be illegitimate and not an heir of God.

If you are in the image of Jesus, then you are in the image of the Father. Jesus said, He that hath seen me hath seen the Father (John 14:9). You must have a relationship with the Father to be able to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

Long for the Spirit

The third condition is that you must feel the need of having the Holy Ghost. Jesus knew He must have the Holy Ghost before He could start His ministry, and you must make the Holy Ghost top priority in your life.

The Lord wants to pour divine water upon the seeker. For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground (Isaiah 44:3). Nothing else should matter for the thirsty seeker but the Lord pouring down His power from On High. Seekers must tarry until they are filled with the Holy Ghost.

The question is: How thirsty are you? If you knew the Rapture was going to take place in the next few days, would you be seeking day and night for the Holy Ghost?

Use Faith

Condition number four is that you must have faith. You cannot receive salvation or the Holy Ghost without faith. The Bible says, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:13,14). You can only receive the Holy Ghost through faith. Nothing less will do.

When I received salvation, I knew the next step was the baptism of the Holy Ghost. I didn’t question how it was going to happen. I knew that all I needed to do was praise the Lord, and the Holy Spirit would come into my humble abode. You must receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost so He can lead you to be a witness for the Lord.

Obey

The fifth condition is obedience. The Lord said He would give the Holy Ghost to those who obey Him. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him (Acts 5:32). If you are disobedient, you are not ready to receive the Holy Ghost.

Tarry Until

The sixth condition is waiting. Jesus told the disciples to wait, and they would receive; but they had to believe. Jesus said, And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49).

Jesus wanted the disciples to tarry until they had received more power from On High, the baptism of the Holy Ghost. The key to receiving the baptism is to tarry until you receive. God will honor your determination and your sacrifice when you yield to the Holy Spirit.

Good Prayer Life

The seventh and last condition is having a good prayer life. When you pray, you are talking to God; and your prayers should come from your heart. It was while Jesus was praying that the heavens opened, and the Holy Ghost descended upon Him. Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased (Luke 3:21,22).

The desire of Christ’s heart was to please the Father, and that must be your heart’s desire. Everything Jesus did was to please the Father, and He did not neglect the Holy Ghost.

Receive Jesus

Child of God, if you want to please the Father, you must receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and let Him become real to you. There is so much you need to learn about divinity that your human mind can’t hold it all; but the Holy Ghost can give you all the thoughts you need at the time you need them so you can help bring in the harvest in this final hour.

You can’t afford to neglect the Holy Ghost because He is the one who will change you in a twinkling of an eye when Jesus comes back again. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (I Corinthians 15:51,52).

Sinner, Backslider, the Holy Ghost is drawing on you right now to receive Jesus. You can’t afford to wait another day, another hour or even another minute. The time to receive Jesus is now. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation (II Corinthians 6:2). If there is a void in your life and you think there should be more to life than what is going on in yours, it is because you are missing out on Jesus and the joy of Heaven He will bring to you. You can fill that void by saying the sinner’s prayer right now. It is located on page 5 of this magazine.

Receive the Comforter

Once you are saved, you must go on to receive the baptism in the Holy Ghost. He wants to be your comforter, your guide and your teacher. He wants you to have the fruits of the Spirit manifesting in your life so you can be a blessing to others.

Receiving the Holy Ghost is not an option; it is a commandment of the Lord. Right now is your opportunity to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. All you have to do is praise the Lord with all of your heart and say, “Glory, glory, glory” one right after another. As you send those glories up to Heaven from your blood-washed heart, let the praises flow; and the Holy Spirit will come in and take over your tongue. Yield completely to Him, and He will speak in a heavenly language. Then let Him glorify Heaven through you.

Heavenly Father, I call down your great anointing upon the people to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Receive ye the Holy Ghost! Receive ye the Holy Ghost! Lord, move in a special way as they lift up praises to you. Let your power go all through their bodies as they yield to you.
