The Blood of Jesus

Why was the blood of Jesus shed? First of all, His blood was shed for the remission of sins. For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins (Matthew 26:28). That blood He spilled for us is the blood of life, the blood of redemption, the blood of deliverance. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 9:22). There is no remission—or forgiveness—of sins without the shedding of blood.
Jesus shed His blood to take away the sins of the world. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29). When the blood is left out, sin remains in. Using the blood of Jesus is the only way to be rid of sin.
The divine blood of Jesus condemns all sin; sin can’t enter Heaven. The only way that you can get into Heaven is through the blood of Jesus. If you don’t believe His blood to be divine, you won’t use it; and you won’t believe in its divinity unless you believe in His Virgin Birth.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 1:18,20). The child Mary was carrying was conceived by the Holy Ghost. Without divine blood in your soul, you are without hope, without redemption, without salvation. The very foundation of Christianity is the Virgin Birth.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us (Matthew 1:21-23). Only through the blood can God be with anyone. If Jesus cannot come into your heart with the blood, He will not come in. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS (verses 24-25).
The father furnishes the blood for his children, not the mother. Any good medical doctor can tell you that the blood comes from the father, not the mother, when the child is conceived. Joseph was not the biological father of Jesus. Jesus was God’s Only Begotten Son. That’s the reason there could be a virgin birth, a Son of God born into the human race, why we can have a Savior. The Holy Ghost overshadowed a virgin and the child born was the Son of God.
The Old Testament Blood Covenant
God gave the Law in all good faith, refused to look into the future to find if man would live according to the Law. But man did not obey the Law, did not keep the Ten Commandments. The Commandments all were broken. The blood of animals was used in Old Testament days, the blood of sacrifice, a token of the blood of Jesus.
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:13). This is the message the Lord gave Moses. A lamb was killed and the blood applied to the doorposts of the captive Israelites in Egypt so the destroying angel would pass over the house when he saw the blood. A token is as good as the real thing if it has the proper backing. A money token is valid when backed up with real money in the bank. Under the Old Testament Law, the blood was a token that would have been sufficient had the people backed it up with faith, love and obedience. Even the blood of animals stayed the hand of death. God did not excuse the Israelite people for failing Him; He had made it possible for them to have power to overcome the devil had they yielded to Him. How sad that they would not yield to what God had said.
Today those who do not have the blood of Jesus applied on the doorpost of their hearts and souls will not be saved from an eternal living death in hell at the end of their journey here on Earth. It was, remember, when the angel of the Lord saw the blood that he passed by. But in every home with no blood, death came. Spiritual death awaits every person today who rejects the blood of Jesus in his or her heart.
And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words (Exodus 24:8). The Lord gave a blood covenant, but in the Old Testament, of course, it wasn’t a blood covenant through the blood of the Son of God. The people then had a type and shadow of His blood; today we have the real thing.
When the Israelites started for Canaan, they had already seen how the blood worked, how it stayed the hand of death. They could have felt secure in the protection of the blood, but they wanted to be secure in self rather than in the blood the Lord offered them for His honor and glory.
The priesthood had these instructions: Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about (Exodus 29:20). In other words, the priests had to be yielded completely to “thus saith the Lord.” It was necessary that they give themselves over to the blood, for the whole person to be protected by the blood. Their ears had to hear the Word of the Lord, their feet and hands had to be cleansed, sanctified, dedicated to the Lord. People have tried to do God’s work without the blood applied to their hearts, minds and souls; and they failed. They may have fooled others, but they couldn’t fool God. Declaring they were ministers of the Gospel, they were hypocrites.
And if his offering be of the flocks, namely, of the sheep, or of the goats, for a burnt sacrifice; he shall bring it a male without blemish (Leviticus 1:10). The offering had to be without blemish. Christ, a Lamb without blemish, is coming after a people without blemish. The same power that Jesus used as the Son of man to keep Himself spotless, pure, clean and free of imperfection is offered us. We can use the power in His blood. If we fail to use it, we are in trouble.
And he shall kill it on the side of the altar northward before the LORD: and the priests, Aaron’s sons, shall sprinkle his blood round about upon the altar (Leviticus 1:11). It was essential to God that every altar be dedicated, consecrated and covered with the blood. In the churches where the truth is being preached to the congregation today, the altar is covered with the blood of Jesus. When the altar of your heart is covered with the blood of Jesus, you honor God, recognize the blood of Jesus and are protected by the blood. Whosoever-will can come to God to be washed and cleansed because of the blood of Jesus.
God gives more instructions to Moses about the sanctifying blood of the sacrifice: And he shall lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about (Leviticus 3:13). And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the LORD, before the veil of the sanctuary. And the priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood, and sprinkle it seven times before the LORD, even before the veil (Leviticus 4:6,17). And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering (Leviticus 5:9). In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the trespass offering: and the blood thereof shall he sprinkle round about upon the altar (Leviticus 7:2). Read also Leviticus 7:14 and 8:19,24.
And Moses took of the anointing oil, and of the blood which was upon the altar, and sprinkled it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and his upon sons’ garments with him; and sanctified Aaron, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him (Leviticus 8:30). The priests could not have been sanctified by God without the blood: You cannot have sanctification without the blood. Since God allowed the blood of animals to be used under the Law to bring about sanctification, think how much more the blood of Jesus will sanctify each individual who will yield his or her heart to the Lord! Study the passages on the blood.
Only Sinless Blood Can Forgive Sin
Only sinless blood, divine blood could be offered for the remission of sin. The blood of animals would not suffice; it could not make people new. God loved us so much that He gave Jesus.
An angel told Mary: And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God (Luke 1:31-35). Ministers who will not preach the Virgin Birth are not ministers of the Gospel but are Satan’s ministers appearing as angels of light to the people.
And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour (Luke 1:46,47). What a beautiful spirit of humility Mary displayed. No wonder God chose her! For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed (verse 48).
There was no divinity about Mary; she was human just like the rest of us. The Bible does not say she would be divine but be called blessed. She was blessed because she would be the earth mother of Jesus. Jesus is the Savior, the one who answers prayers, the one who makes intercession to the Father for us, not Mary. The doctrine of salvation is through the blood; there is no other way.
Man in Eden was created in the divine image of God; he was a free, rational being. It was not in God’s plan for man to sin, and so when He made man, it was not necessary to have a plan of redemption. But when man fell into sin, God had to provide a means of redemption. Before man sinned, he, of course, had nothing to be redeemed from. God refused to look into man’s future to see if he would sin. God has nothing to do with sin; it came from man and the devil. Man and the devil are to blame. God tried different ways to redeem mankind; He dealt with the heads of families before the Law, but heads of families failed. Then God gave the Law, but people rebelled against the Law of God just like many today rebel against holy living. Finding these plans were rejected, God gave the ultimate sacrifice: His Only Begotten Son. It was a plan loving, gracious and inspiring. The divine blood is the only thing that can make you righteous, the only thing that has the righteousness of God in it for you. You can’t be holy without the blood.
The blood will give you a new heart, create a new spirit within when you accept it. The Psalmist had a desire for a new heart to be created within him: Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10).
Even before Jesus came and died for us, the Psalmist said the Lord would not hear the person with iniquity in the heart. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me (Psalm 66:18). Many today, however, are teaching that man cannot live free from sin. They won’t recognize divine blood, what that blood will do. They are either in ignorance or else willfully going against the blood of Jesus. Salvation, redemption from sin is impossible without the blood of Jesus.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). The only way you can have a pure heart is through the blood of Jesus. Divine blood alone can make you pure in heart, take all the sin out of your heart; there is nothing else. You can’t have one doubt about the Virgin Birth of Christ and expect to walk in the deliverance and freedom of the blood. Jesus said, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36). Through the divine blood of Jesus that freedom comes.
Jesus’ Claims of Divinity
Jesus took on human flesh to become related to the human race—our elder brother, our kinsman—so He could qualify as our Redeemer. Could mere human wisdom have conceived and depicted such a character? Why should anyone want to invent Him and thrust upon Him the lordship of the world? How could deceivers have conceived such purity, such faultlessness? How could fanatics have fabricated one who was always sober, sane, righteous in His traits, speech and demeanor?
Christ made marvelous claims when He was here, claims many have overlooked. If He isn’t what He claimed to be, then there is no blood that will wash away our sins, no blood to trust in. But if He was all He claimed to be when He was here on Earth, then we have a Savior, a Redeemer and we can trust our lives, our destinies with His blood and not look back. We can know beyond a shadow of doubt that we are born new, that our souls and hearts have been sealed by the Holy Spirit using the blood.
Jesus made thirteen great claims about Himself.
Claim 1: Jesus declared that He was the Only Begotten Son of God. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16,18). Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God (John 10:36)?
If you don’t believe in the divine nature of His blood, you don’t believe in Jesus. Those who claim to be of Jesus but don’t believe in the Virgin Birth, I say again, are none of His. If you don’t believe in the blood, you are condemned before God, condemned to eternal damnation. If divine blood didn’t back up the name of Jesus, it would just be another name. But divine blood does back up that name, the divine blood of the divine Son of God.
Claim 2: Jesus declared that He was the same as the Father. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father (John 14:9)? I’m the same as the Father, Jesus was saying.
Claim 3: Jesus claimed to be the Messiah. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he (John 4:25,26). If these claims are not true, you can forget about Jesus, forget about eternal life, about being resurrected, forget about the soon coming of the Lord, about ever having peace and living eternally with the Lord in Heaven. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life (John 5:39,40).
Claim 4: Jesus claimed to be the Redeemer. Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28).
Claim 5: He claimed to be Savior. And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:9,10).
Claim 6: Jesus claimed to be sent of God. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him (John 3:17,34). God’s Spirit—all of it—was available to Jesus, everything of God.
Claim 7: Jesus declared, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). If Jesus didn’t have divinity in Him, that was a false claim. No one can receive salvation any other way than through Jesus.
Claim 8: Jesus claimed He was the forgiver of sins: Son, thy sins be forgiven thee (Mark 2:5).
Claim 9: Jesus claimed to be the resurrection and the life. If this claim was false, then Jesus would be the false Christ; but it was not a false claim. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25). At Lazarus’ tomb, as well as other places, Jesus proved His resurrection power.
Claim 10: Jesus claimed to be the final judge of all nations, tribes and people, judge of the wise and unwise, the quick and the dead. And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats (Matthew 25:32).
Claim 11: He claimed to have all authority and power in Heaven and on Earth, but for His claim He was called a blasphemer. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18).
Claim 12: Jesus claimed He would always be present with His disciples. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Matthew 18:20). Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28:20). Through the blood He will meet with you when you gather together in His name. Come in the power of His blood and you will be victorious.
Claim 13: Jesus claimed He would come the third time: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other (Matthew 24:30,31). He would have to be divine to come in glory with all the holy angels with Him.
If you can’t accept all of Jesus’ claims, you are left out of His Kingdom. If you accept all of them, however, you are one of His children. All you have to do then is act out your faith, and Heaven will be yours one day. Accept these thirteen claims, believe them, abide in them and the blood will work for you.
The Blood of Jesus Is Our Justification
Under the Law, the Day of Atonement came once a year. The high priest went into the most holy place to make atonement for the people, but under grace, Jesus became our High Priest. He went into Heaven and offered sinless blood upon the altar of Heaven. When you get to Heaven, you will see that blood. Probably one of the first things all of our loved ones have done who have gone on before us was to kneel at that altar with its divine blood. It must be the most sacred, wonderful place in Heaven. All the blood Jesus shed on Calvary is there, eternal like God Himself, like Jesus. That blood can never be destroyed, contaminated or made weak. Sinless blood, strong as all Heaven—we have it now, and we can use it. By faith, that blood flows for every real child of God. But if you have contamination of any sin whatsoever in your life, that blood won’t flow.
Many people have difficulty staying with God because they don’t really have the blood of Jesus flowing in their lives. When Jesus died on Calvary, the veil in the temple was rent from top to bottom, signifying that God had come down and a new and living way was opened to all through sinless blood.
The blood is our justification. Our plea of absolute innocence can only be through the divine blood of Jesus. You are not justified unless it’s through His blood. Many Christians justify their own ways instead of being justified through the blood. That’s the reason they don’t follow close after God, why they can’t be Jesus overcomers. Self-justification is not blood justification. Feeling good has nothing to do with whether or not you are justified. Justification is not something you have to feel; it is absolute and comes through the blood.
The divine blood of Jesus is so strong that He could conquer death. Jesus said, I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again (John 10:17,18). Jesus gave His life’s blood; man couldn’t take it from Him. Leaving His divine life in Heaven with the Father, Jesus went to Calvary so we could have divine life eternally.
Eternal Life Is in the Blood
Our bodies are mortal, made from the dust of the earth, but our souls are immortal; they came from God; they are a part of Him. Because they are a part of God, they can never die. The soul will either go into a living death in hell or a living life in Heaven, life that comes through the blood of Jesus. The divine blood of Jesus will flow in us for all eternity. If not, we won’t live forever with Him. When you have the blood of Jesus in you, you have eternal life. You couldn’t have more life than His eternal life in you. Your soul has the life that the Lord wanted it to have in the beginning, the life that He gave to the souls of the first man and woman.
Adam and Eve would never have died had they not sinned. God gave them divine life in their souls. With His divine blood, Jesus could have lived on Earth all these years had He not given His life on the Cross. That divine blood would have kept Him young; He wouldn’t have aged or been sick. We will not be sick in Heaven. That divine blood will be ours for health, for the whole person. How wonderful that will be!
Some people are up and down with God, always doubting their salvation, needing help about it. Where is their trust in the blood? What does God think about them? If you have the blood of Jesus applied to your heart, you have salvation. But if you commit willful sin, that blood leaves; Jesus no longer provides His blood to you. You cut off the offer by your sin.
If you do something you don’t know to be a sin, and then discover your error and repent, God will forgive you. Stop when the Holy Spirit deals with you, so you can be cleansed of that sin immediately. But if you continue in your sin, it is willful sin; you have denied the blood.
When the blood is denied, the Son of God is denied, everything about Him is denied. The person claiming to be a Christian and yet denying the blood is an impostor, a hypocrite. None of the claims Jesus made about Himself are true to the heart of a person who denies the blood. When people deny the blood of Jesus, they have denied eternal life with God. When the blood is denied, everything God says about His Son is denied; the truth He brought and taught is denied, all His marvelous characteristics. You deny the blood of Jesus in your actions by not having His characteristics.
One denomination years ago recalled all their hymnals and took out every song about the blood. Today they are in a devilish mess, not fit to be called a church. It’s not a church of the Lord; it’s man’s church, the devil’s church.
I have come to the conclusion that many have never actually been born again; they don’t live the blood-life, don’t manifest the blood-love, the blood-faith and the blood-greatness of Christ. They can’t even get control over self. Jesus said, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me (Mark 8:34). If you’re going to use His divine blood, you have to put self under that blood. When self is not controlled, self is not under the blood. That means your soul is not under the blood; you have no protection.
Don’t be deceived thinking you have protection when you don’t. You can’t gossip, hurt people with your words, sow discord, lie, curse, or commit any other kind of sin and still have the blood of Jesus flowing on the inside of your soul. If you don’t have that blood, you don’t have salvation or redemption. When you are saved, self goes under the blood; and you must keep self under the blood. Search yourself closely and decide if you have put all of self under the blood.
The Lord is getting people ready to go with Jesus at His soon coming, and that preparation comes through the blood. You will never have the baptism in the Holy Ghost without the blood. First the blood must do its wonderful work to prepare the temple of clay, to make it holy.
Follow in the steps of Jesus, the steps of love. The love of God is in the blood. If you have the blood applied, you have the love of God applied, too. When you receive salvation, the first thing that happens is that all hate leaves, all grudges, all filth; they are replaced by the righteousness and holiness of Christ. You love everyone including your enemies. If that hasn’t happened to you, you haven’t been born again, saith the Lord.
If you do not live under the blood, you are not buried in His love, and you deny your right to be a member of the family of God. Heaven will never belong to those who are not part of the family of God. You are either in the family of God, joining that family through the blood, or not. The family of God is righteous, holy, pure, clean and blameless before God, walking close to Jesus. We read in Ephesians that Jesus is coming after a Church not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27). These are qualifications for the Bride.
There is nothing like the blood of Jesus that sanctifies. Jesus prayed for the disciples’ sanctification: Sanctify them through thy truth (John 17:17). Jesus said He was the truth, I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Sanctify them through my blood, He was saying.
Many people join the church, are baptized in water, sign a card and call it salvation. It’s not God’s salvation, not the Jesus salvation. The life is in the blood, not in signing a card, not in water. Water baptism represents a clear conscience toward God. We are buried with Him in water signifying that we have been buried in His blood; then we come out of the water, signifying that we have been resurrected into newness of life through His blood. The blood brings us into divinity, makes us partakers of His divine nature. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (II Peter 1:4).
The blood must flow to protect us. You cannot have protection unless you keep the blood flowing; without that flow you will do the wrong things. Faith in that blood keeps it flowing, faith in what the Lord has said.
Salvation before the Crucifixion
Divine blood was flowing the whole time Jesus was here on Earth. People saw the results of it. Never had they heard a man talk the way He talked, never seen anyone act like Him. He had a different message than any they had ever heard. He said He was manna come down from Heaven. Manna from Heaven gave the Israelites life when they were in the wilderness; Jesus came down from Heaven to be that bread that gives eternal life. It isn’t Earth’s food that keeps you alive; it’s the Bread of Life, Jesus. Eat of Him, of His strength. Dine on Him. The inner man desires Jesus and cannot be satisfied with Earth’s food. Only the part of you that belongs to the earth can be satisfied with that which comes from the earth. The soul came from the breath of God, and it can only be satisfied with divinity. It can only be satisfied with that which comes from God.
The blood must flow, and it flows in you through your yielding to the Word, to the truth through obedience, to all that God has said, all that Jesus taught. I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish (John 10:28). The blood is eternal; the life and love in the blood is eternal. The blood has everything eternal that we must have; in it is all power for all eternity, and it has all the power we need here on Earth.
Know the Power in the Blood
Many Christians are weak because they don’t know and use the power in the blood. If you are one who is not aware of that power, go back to the divine blood that flowed in Jesus through the Virgin Birth, realize what the blood will do; acknowledge what the blood has done. When you understand the blood, you will not doubt your salvation but will be able to overcome the mind battles, saith the Lord, through the blood. When your trust is not in the blood, you will not be listening in on Heaven. Not realizing that you have that privilege, that purity, you won’t be aware of your close connection to God. We are made nigh to Him through the blood of Jesus. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).
Many doubt their prayers because they are unaware that the benefits of the blood have made them nigh to the Lord. You don’t have to scream at God for Him to hear you; He is nigh through the blood. Until you become conscious of what the blood will do, you will not let it work for you. You will just hobble through life a spiritual invalid because you won’t use the blood. You must use the blood.
Jesus promised to walk with us all the way, to never leave us nor forsake us. Yet many Christians are forever searching for Him, wondering where He is. All the while they have pushed Him aside; they are not trusting in the blood. Sinners are the ones who should be in search of Him.
The blood makes you secure for eternity as you keep that blood flowing. You may know how to use an insurance policy, but do you know how to use the Jesus-blood insurance for all eternity? Security is in that blood. Many can feel security through a big bank roll, but not through the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus lasts, not the bank roll. The blood of Jesus has the joy, peace, contentment that every soul should have and every life needs.
The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin (I John 1:7). Through His blood this happens. Every word in the English language that ends with “eth” means that the action of that word continues. That blood has to continue flowing. Some people preach that a person can’t backslide once he or she has been saved. The devil never told a bigger lie. Adam and Eve believed that lie, thought they could get by with sin even though God had warned them against it. The devil will make you think that once the blood of Jesus is applied to your soul, no matter what you do, the blood will continue to cleanse you. Not at all. You must yield your life to that blood, live a pure, clean, holy life in order for that blood to flow for you. That blood will not flow through an unclean vessel. It will flow in to cleanse that vessel, but that vessel must stay clean to keep that flow. Sin cuts off the flow of blood, renders you spiritually dead. Just as a limb of the body becomes dead when the blood supply is cut off, you become spiritually dead when you cut off the flow of divine blood in your soul. The life is in the blood.
Where is your trust? The doctor can check your physical blood pressure, but do you yield to the Spirit enough to let God regulate the divine blood pressure, keep it right and to let you know if it isn’t right? When you don’t yield to the spiritual things, your spiritual blood pressure is not right. You’re on spiritual death row if the blood of Jesus is not flowing through you daily. You are not cleansed.
This world is full of sin; only the blood keeps you unspotted. We don’t have to worry about sinning when the blood is flowing; in fact, then we don’t even want to sin. There is no salvation whatsoever without divine blood; all the divine salvation that you need is through the divine blood.
Partakers of Christ
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God (John 1:12). As many as receive His divine blood that came through the Virgin Birth become sons and daughters of God. When Jesus was here on Earth, the people had to receive the Virgin Birth to become the sons of God. No disciple could become a son of God without accepting sinless blood, without accepting the claims Jesus made. Without faith in the Virgin Birth, I say again, there is no sinless blood to give you life.
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end (Hebrews 3:14). We are made partakers of Christ. You can’t be a partaker of Christ without first partaking of His blood. All benefits come through the blood; none of them are available to you without partaking of the blood. If you turn down the blood, you turn down the only remedy for sin. You can’t let go of your faith; you must be steadfast.
To partake means to take a portion of something, to have a part or share in. We share in the whole Jesus, not just a part. The blessings of God are not for the sinner but for the sinless, the righteous, God’s holy people. That thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath spoken (Deuteronomy 26:19). Holy people are the only kind that God has; the rest belong to the devil.
He that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope (I Corinthians 9:10). Partakers of His hope means we also are partakers of His love. Study His love in I Corinthians 13. We are partakers of that love, or we are not His. That kind of divine love comes with His salvation. If you don’t have love you are like sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal (I Corinthians 13:1). Without love, there is nothing to you, no life, no spiritual intelligence. People do stupid things when they are not under the blood.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature (II Peter 1:4). We have all these precious promises that say we can be like Jesus, but how many people really believe them and live them? We can have all the characteristics of Him, walk just as He walked, talk like He talked, teach what He taught, carry on the same work He carried on. Jesus said, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12).
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever (John 14:16). Jesus gave the great promise of the Father, the promise of the Holy Ghost to live and dwell in each individual. What a plan! Man couldn’t have thought up that one. The third person in the Trinity of the Godhead to live and dwell inside each child of God is incredible and wonderful indeed.
Many who have claimed to have the Holy Ghost baptism do not have Him. The things they do and say, the way they treat God and others demonstrates their lack. Not even under the blood of Jesus, not yielded to the blood, they could not possibly have the third person of the Godhead living inside.
The Divine Image
Adam and Eve were made in the image of God, made holy to never sin. They were geared to never sin, regulated in God’s love and power. But they sinned willfully against God. The Gospel seeks to restore the divine image in which man was first made, an image that was lost through sin. If you are not talking and acting like Jesus, that image has not been restored in you, and you have not been born again. Some people will swear, tell shady jokes, gossip, watch filthy shows at the movies and on television—even rent x-rated videos and buy pornographic magazines; they are not in the divine image. Has Jesus joined you watching that nasty television show degrading the body that God created in holiness and righteousness? Of course not. Our bodies are to be temples of the Holy Ghost, and He will not live in an unholy temple.
Where are you in Him today? Has God regained that image He had lost? He sent Jesus to regain His image in you, an image that had been marred in man, degraded, one that was darkness, not light, an image of sin. Hate, not love, shaped that image. In the home, is that hate manifested? Can you get along with your godly loved ones? Do you blame others for your own faults? Look into the mirror through the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God. You’re the trouble if you think everyone is wrong but you. Fussing, having fits and tantrums drive away the Spirit of God. Where are you today? Where is the blood? Is your life contaminated in any way with the devil’s wares? The blood will not mix with such as that. If God’s image is twisted in your life, the blood will not mix with your spirit. Without the blood, without divinity, your spirit has no victory, no overcoming power, no answered prayer, no real divine benefits.
You can fast, but if you don’t yield to the blood, if you don’t bury yourself in the blood and come forth with the love, kindness and gentleness of Jesus, you have lost the fast. You just went hungry, saith the Lord. It wasn’t a Bible fast. In a real Bible fast you go under the blood in a most precious way, receiving the great benefits of the blood. You take on the humility and love of Jesus in a marvelous way. How beautiful, how wonderful is He!
Enjoy a close fellowship with Him; walk hand in hand with Him. How can you be arrogant in such a walk? How can you be disgruntled, murmur and complain?
Jesus is coming after a Church without spot, wrinkle or any such thing. He is coming after a holy people. Only the blood can make you acceptable to Him. If you don’t yield to the Holy Ghost, the blood can’t flow. The Holy Ghost used the blood to save you; He was the agent in your regeneration. He applied that blood, and it’s the Holy Ghost who keeps that blood flowing in you. You must be possessed by the Holy Spirit in order to be yielded to the blood. When you don’t yield to the blood, you are not yielding to anything of Jesus. If you think you are, you are deceiving yourself.
The blood takes care of the deepest needs of the soul. Through the blood, everything needed is supplied from Heaven. Jesus made everything available; He made Heaven’s greatness so close we can reach up and touch it, reach up and take the blessings of God. With His nail-riven hand He put our hands in the hand of God the Father, reconciling us unto God, creating that divine image within us. God, looking at His children through the blood of Jesus, sees His children as beautiful. He looks through the blood and sees no sin; He looks through the blood and sees nothing ugly, degraded or ungodly. He looks, but if that blood is not flowing in the person’s soul, He can’t look through it. When you are not covered with the blood, God will not accept you. God accepts you only through the blood of the Lamb, through the blood of Jesus, sacred blood, holy, holy blood.
The blood has protection in it. God built a hedge around Job, but your hedge today is the blood that stained the Old Rugged Cross. The devil can’t break through that hedge of blood to get to your soul. That hedge of blood would have to be taken away before the devil could get into your heart. Only your willful sin can take it away. You can come out from behind the hedge, behind the blood, but the devil can’t get through it.
Some of you don’t know how to use the blood for protection. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17). Without the blood no one can be made new. The old creature can only pass away through the blood. You can’t get rid of the old by yourself; you can’t sell it or even give it away. Good works will not work it away. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9). Through the blood of Jesus you have salvation and no other way.
Jesus told Nicodemus, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). Nicodemus didn’t know about divine blood, about divinity coming to Earth. He didn’t know that the Divine One stood before him, that through His divine blood all things were possible, even to the saving of a soul. The Lord doesn’t patch you up; He makes you brand new through and through, makes you new as though you had never sinned, as the first Adam before he fell. That’s the reason the Lord will come down and walk with you all the time. He doesn’t come just in the cool of the day. He is with you in the hottest part of the battle. Jesus said, Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world (Matthew 28:20).
The blood on your soul proves He is with you, His love flows; the joy of Heaven is yours. Thank God for the blood of Jesus! The only way into God is through the blood. The only way to yield to God is through the blood. You must yield daily to God through the blood of Jesus. Every time you pray, yield to the blood for God to hear your prayers. It’s all through the blood. The blood makes you nigh to God; the blood keeps you nigh. Your destiny of greatness is in the blood. The love of Heaven for you is in the blood; the joy of Heaven for you is in the blood; the wisdom and knowledge of God for you is in the blood. Divine blood flowing in your soul gives you eternal life, eternal greatness, eternal everything perfect and good. You’ll never be perfect in love without the blood. In the great Sermon on the Mount Jesus said, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). Through the divine blood you can have that perfection and be made perfect.
Questions and Answers
What happened to the blood of Jesus that fell upon the ground when He died on Calvary?
It was all gathered up, and the Lord took it to Heaven. Mary Magdalene was forbidden to touch Jesus right after He rose from the grave because He had not yet ascended to Heaven with that blood. Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father (John 20:17). Later He told Thomas to touch Him. Between the time He told Mary not to touch Him and the time He told Thomas to touch Him, He had ascended to Heaven with His sinless blood, every drop that had been spilled. It was divine blood. Why would He leave it for the earth when the curse is upon the earth? Blood was spilled upon the ground signifying that the curse would be conquered. Jesus became a curse to take away the curse from mankind and the earth as well. The time is coming that the earth will be redeemed through that blood; the blood will usher in the Perfect Age of one thousand years.
When the pure truth is told in all its beauty, why is it that some people value it but others do not?
Some people simply don’t want the truth. They won’t accept it. The truth doesn’t fit their lifestyle. They don’t want that kind of liberty; they would rather have the bondage of sin, satisfying every lust of the flesh.
When we are sinless, calling the Lord to be close to us and hold us, why can’t we see Him and feel His touch? Why isn’t He as real to us as other people?
If you live the way laid out for you in this sermon on the blood, God will be so real to you that you will know He is close. Through the Holy Spirit you can feel His arms of love around you. The only way you can have reality in Jesus is through His shed blood. The shed blood makes Him nigh unto you. You must accept the benefits of the blood and not let self get between you and the blood. The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). You live by faith, not by your physical sight. You can see more with your spiritual eyes than with your physical eyes. When you look with the spiritual eyes, the greatness of God becomes a living reality to you because you are using God’s sight. With God’s sight you can see the Rapture, the Tribulation Period and on into eternity. But if you are not covered with the blood, you will not find reality in the still, small voice of God. If you don’t want to believe God, you won’t believe. You can only believe for miracles and healings through the blood. If you don’t believe in the blood of Jesus, you’re not going to believe in signs, wonders, miracles and healings. You can’t believe in the real, living Christ, accept all the claims that He made of Himself, unless you believe in the blood, unless you accept the blood.
How did the Holy Spirit come into existence, since He wasn’t begotten like Jesus the Son of God?
Jesus was the Son of God before He came to Earth; He was with God when the earth was created. The Holy Ghost, as well, has been with God that long. The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost make up the Godhead; they had no beginning and will have no end. The Holy Spirit didn’t come to bleed and die; He came to set up His abode in you after you were cleaned up, your tongue sanctified and you were a fit vessel for Him to move into, to live and dwell in you. If He is going to use your tongue, you must keep it sanctified through the blood of Jesus Christ.
It’s time to use the blood. Jesus used the blood continuously when He was here on Earth. The blood operated in Him when He was a baby, a child, a teenager. He always had that divine blood. It wasn’t something new after He was grown. But when He began His ministry, the blood went into operation for people. The blind received their sight, the deaf heard, sins were forgiven; it all came about through the blood. Faith in the blood, believing Jesus to be the Son of God born of a virgin is the reason people could be saved before He died on the Cross. They were saved through faith in the divine blood in Jesus. Even before His blood ran out of His veins, there was power to forgive sins, just as much power. He forgave the sins of a man sick with palsy, saying, That ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house (Mark 2:10,11). The man was instantly healed so people could see the power Jesus had over sin and sickness.
You will not get to Heaven without the blood. Why would you doubt the power in the blood? You can’t be justified without the blood. To be under the blood, your sins are all gone. Outside the blood, you are sinful. Many who claim to be of the Lord live outside the blood. How tragic when they discover their eternity will be in hell!
Do You Need Jesus?
Oh Sinner, Backslider: Come to Jesus! Let me persuade you as one who loves your soul to believe in the blood that stained the Old Rugged Cross. The blood of Jesus will cleanse you, make you a new creature. The blood can deliver you, give you peace in your soul and spirit, fellowship with God.
If you don’t know Jesus, ask the Lord to let the blood flow into your soul, and let me pray with you now: Oh, God, I confess that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary with divine blood. Jesus shed His divine blood, blood with power to wash away every sin. I believe that His shed blood will wash away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come into my heart.
If you believe that prayer, the blood is powerful to make your soul new in a moment of time. In a split second all your sins are washed away through the blood of the Lamb. Put your faith in the blood of Jesus, in the holy, sacred blood from Heaven brought down to redeem fallen humanity.
The blood had to be shed for healing as well as for salvation. Without divine blood there would be no healing for us today. God gave this to me, showed me that the blood brought about healing. There is healing through the blood of Jesus. The blood ran from His back when He was beaten, and through that blood we have healing for the physical body. With his [blood] stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). If you need healing, accept this prayer of faith now: Lord, here they are. I have brought the living Word, the living Christ, the Divine One to the people this day. Now from your supernatural gifts of healing, from your supernatural gift of miracles it comes through the name of your Son Jesus, through the blood of Jesus it flows: Heal! Heal! in the name of the Lord. Heal! in the holy, holy name of Jesus.
Yea, saith the Spirit of God: Trust in the blood of my Son Jesus. You will find all power for your deliverance, for the whole you. It was all provided through divine blood.
Redemption, deliverance, my greatness, all my greatness is in the blood of my Son. Precious blood it is, powerful blood it is.
Trust in it; put all your trust in it, and you won’t come up lacking. Put all your trust in it, and you’ll not come behind in any of my gifts and greatness for you. Put your trust in the blood, the divine blood that my Son gave for you. His blood is accepted, not just on Earth but in Heaven. And one day you will see that divine blood on my holy altar in Heaven, saith the Lord. Trust in His holy blood, and live for all eternity, saith the Lord.
