The word “blend” means to unite, to mix, to harmonize and to bring together. In the Bride of Christ, divinity and the human spirit are brought together and mixed to make one beautiful personality—the Jesus personality. That is the greatest personality that has ever been on Earth.

John Was the Forerunner of Jesus

There are many great personalities in the Bible; and I want to bring to you the marvelous personality of John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus. Jesus declared, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist (Luke 7:28). Jesus lifted John as high as any human being could be lifted.

John the Baptist’s father, Zacharias, was given this prophecy about his son from an angel of the Lord: For he [John] shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s womb (Luke 1:15). And he shall go before him [Jesus] in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17).

John’s mother, Elisabeth, was filled with the Holy Ghost (Luke 1:41); and the Lord spoke a prophecy through her to Mary, the mother of Jesus saying, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb (Luke 1:42).

The parents the Lord gave John were devout children of God; but John’s father, although a great man, doubted when an angel told him that he and his wife would have a son in their old age. Because of that doubt, an angel struck Zacharias dumb; and he could not speak at all until after John was born.

Eight days after John was born, Zacharias and Elizabeth took John to be circumcised. On that day, Zacharias was able to speak again; and the Lord prophesied through him concerning his son. His father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied…And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways (Luke 1:67,76). You need to study the blend of the Holy Ghost in the personalities of John the Baptist and his parents.

John Preached and Baptized

And the child [John] grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel (Luke 1:80). John the Baptist was a marvelous vessel. He had been taught by the Spirit while he lived in the desert, so he was strong in the Holy Spirit and powerful in calling people to repentance. In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight (Matthew 3:1-3).

Many people went out to see John. Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins (Matthew 3:5,6).

John was full of goodness and mercy, but he also put forth judgment with no hesitation. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire (Matthew 3:7-10).

John Baptized Jesus

John proclaimed, I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire (Matthew 3:11,12)

John’s spirit was beautifully blended with the Holy Spirit, and it was very fitting that John was the one who baptized Jesus! Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Matthew 3:13-17).

John came to bear witness of the Light of Jesus, the Son of God, and we must bear witness to that same Light. Jesus is the Light of salvation that delivers people from sin and brings them to the eternal light of Heaven.

John saw Jesus again the next day and testified of seeing Him be baptized in the Holy Ghost. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him (John 1:29-32).

When Jesus had first come to John, John didn’t know who He was; but God had told John how He would know when He had seen Jesus. I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God (John 1:33,34). John saw the Spirit not only descend upon but also remain on Jesus.

Jesus Received the Holy Ghost

As the very Son of God, Jesus didn’t need to be baptized in the Holy Ghost any more than He needed to be baptized in water; but as the Son of man and our Elder Brother, He did. When Jesus was on Earth, He was related to the human race; and He is the example we must follow. As the Son of man, it was necessary for Jesus to be baptized in water and in the Holy Ghost. Some people declare they don’t need the Holy Ghost, but why would they think that when even Jesus needed Him?

John declared that Jesus would baptize people with the Holy Ghost. Jesus showed us that the baptism in the Holy Ghost is necessary for there to be a blend of the Holy Spirit and the human spirit in a person.

John’s ministry and Jesus’ baptism were also recorded in the Gospel of Mark. As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey; And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness (Mark 1:2-12). Right after Jesus was baptized in the Holy Ghost, the Spirit led Him into the wilderness where He fasted for forty days.

I like to read what the various Gospel writers said about John, Jesus and the mix of the human spirit and the Holy Spirit. They let us know the kind of mix of the human spirit and the Holy Spirit we can have. What kind of mix do you have? Are you mixed up with the world? If so, then you do not have a good mix of the human spirit and the Holy Spirit. If you have been delivered from all sin, are sanctified and walking in the holiness and righteousness of God, are yielded to the Holy Spirit, and He lives in you, you have a good mix of the human spirit and the Holy Spirit. That is the mix that John the Baptist had.

A Voice in the Wilderness

John’s voice in the wilderness was magnificent! Isaiah the prophet told about that great voice to come. The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God (Isaiah 40:3). Different voices were heard in Old Testament days, but the voice in the wilderness was the greatest human-Holy Ghost voice that was ever heard. Now, a voice even greater will be heard in this final hour—the voice of the Bride. It will be not only one voice but all the voices of the bridal company. They will be blended together with the Holy Ghost as one voice sending forth the Gospel to the whole world in this last hour. What an exciting thought!

I wish we could have heard the voice of John the Baptist—how it sounded out and penetrated into the hearts of the people. True light had finally come for many. Others did not accept the message of the Light, yet they still ran to be baptized; but John recognized them and said, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance (Matthew 3:7,8).

Today, the voice of the Bride will stop hypocrites dead in their tracks just like the voice of John stopped them with the great blend of the Holy Ghost. John had not come to baptize sinners because water will not wash away sins. Only the blood of Jesus can wash away sins. Water baptism is an outward demonstration of an inward change. Before you are baptized, you must repent and be saved. John plainly told people they needed to repent, and the Bride will be just as frank with the Gospel as John was.

The Disciples Failed Jesus

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men (Matthew 4:18,19). Power and greatness were in that voice, and it had such a drawing that the two brothers immediately left their nets and followed Jesus. At that time, the Day of Pentecost had not yet arrived; so Simon and Andrew had not yet received the baptism, and they did not have the right mix of the human spirit and the Holy Ghost.

As the two brothers walked with Jesus, they only harmonized with him part of the time. He would get them into that blended channel as He taught them; but later, they would step out of that special place Jesus needed them to be.

The other disciples did not have the blend in their spirits that they needed either. One day, James and John came to Jesus and asked Him if they could sit on His right hand and on His left hand in Glory. But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with (Mark 10:38,40)?

Without the Holy Spirit, you won’t hear the things the Lord is telling you the right way; and when Jesus was telling the disciples that He would have to die, Peter actually rebuked Him. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him. But when he [Jesus] had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men (Mark 8:32,33).

All of the disciples failed Jesus in His dark hour in Gethsemane. Not one of them stayed awake to watch with Him as He had asked. And he [Jesus] cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour (Matthew 26:40)?

Are you awake in this last hour? Does the Lord have your ear at all times? Are you alert in the Spirit? Are you watching, listening and ready to use the sword of the Word?

Peter did not have the right mix of the human and divinity in Gethsemane. When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter thought he should defend Him; so he drew out his sword and cut off the ear of a servant of the high priest. Then Jesus healed the man. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him (Luke 22:51).

If Peter’s spirit had been properly blended with the Holy Spirit, he would not have used his sword to cut off a man’s ear. He would have used the sword of the Word of God to touch the man’s heart; but in Gethsemane, he had more confidence in the sword by his side than in the sword of the Word. Thankfully, after Peter had received the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost, his spirit did blend with divinity; and he went on to become a great apostle.

What Kind of Blend Do You Have?

When people don’t have the right blend with the Lord, they make the wrong moves because they move too fast or too slow. People who have acted in self rather than waiting for the directions of the Holy Spirit have been a great hindrance to God’s work down through the years. Their human spirits have not been blended with the Holy Spirit and His love, faith, humility and determination. They have not blended with all of His greatness, so their human spirits have risen up and taken control.

When you blend with the Holy Spirit, you have control of the human spirit because that blend gives you the fruit of self-control daily. The nine fruits of the Spirit give you everything you need to make the perfect blend with the Holy Spirit work. You will harmonize with the Holy Spirit in all that Jesus taught and brought and with everything God has ever said or will say.

When you have the right blend with the Holy Spirit, it will enable Him to produce the nine fruits of the Spirit in your life; and then you will have nothing to be anxious about. You won’t have to worry about backsliding or failing to do what God wants of you. With that perfect blend of the Holy Spirit and your spirit comes full assurance. You will be rooted and grounded in the truth and stand wearing the whole armor of God.

Because the disciples did not have that blend in the beginning, they could not stand. When Jesus healed the man whose ear Peter had cut off, Peter was insulted. Even after all the healings and miracles he had seen, he still resented Jesus for healing the man’s ear; and it was a great miracle. Peter could have yielded to Jesus’ love, but he held on to too much of self and not enough of God.

The night of Jesus’ trial, Peter denied that he knew Him. He began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak (Mark 14:71). That was the same Peter who had been with Christ on the Mount of Transfiguration and seen the glory of Jesus as He spoke with Moses and Elijah. But even at that time, Peter’s thoughts were on building three tabernacles on top of the mountain rather than thinking about how all the power he was seeing could help those in the valley of human needs.

You Must Have the Perfect Blend

When you yield to the human spirit rather than divinity, the Lord cannot help you. God has given you free choice to choose Him or reject Him. If self would rather do something other than what God wants, God will be limited in your life. God hates stubbornness and rebellion, and those things will keep you from being drawn into the righteousness and purity of God. People may think it’s their right to be selfish, but what they think is their right can be their wrong.

When you love lost humanity, you will have vision of going into the valley to rescue sinners. Too often, people feel sorry for themselves in the valley rather than looking around to see how they can help others and rejoicing in the fragrance of the Lily of the Valley, Jesus. That fragrance will give you great strength and clear vision.

When people don’t have the right blend with the Lord, good experiences can turn into bad ones. Peter fell flat on his face when he did not have the right blend. Thus saith the Lord, if you don’t have right blend in this final hour, you will do likewise; and you will fail your Lord. The only ones who will please God and do the right things that are in the mind and heart of God, saith the Lord, will be those people who blend with His Holy Spirit 100 percent.

Those who have the perfect blend of the human spirit and the Holy Spirit that God planned will have the same blend that Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden before they sinned. They had such a perfect blend that God would come down and walk with them in the cool of the day. What a blessed, wonderful time.

The Lord is seeking to bring everyone into the right blend with His Spirit, and He has done all He can to accomplish that. Jesus, the very Son of God, went to Calvary to save those who will take Him into their hearts and souls. When he went back to Heaven, He sent the Holy Ghost to live and dwell with people here on Earth. There is nothing left for God to do but to keep reaching out and trying to draw people to Him.

Thomas Had a Doubting Spirit

When the Crucifixion and Resurrection were behind the disciples, the Day of Pentecost came. Before Jesus had ascended back to Heaven, He had walked and talked with the disciples for a number of days; and as they sat with Him, their spirits began to blend with His in the most blessed way…except for the spirit of Thomas. He was slow in getting the right blend because he doubted.

Thomas just couldn’t believe that Christ had risen; and he said, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed (John 20:25-29).

Thomas must have been astonished. He couldn’t deny the voice of Jesus. Never before had he heard a voice like the voice of the Master. He must have felt thoroughly chastened and wished he had never said the things he had. When Thomas met the risen Lord face to face, he believed. He then got rid of that doubting spirit and went on to the Upper Room to receive the right blend.

Be Careful of What You Say

Some of God’s people say the most worthless things in spite of the fact that Jesus warned, Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment (Matthew 12:36). What kinds of conversations do you have? Are they worth anything to God? If your words don’t edify and bless people for the Kingdom of the Lord, they are just plain worthless. They don’t have any strength, faith, love, peace, kindness or longsuffering.

Think about what you say before you say it—will your words really bless people? Can you imagine Jesus doing anything less than blessing people who would yield to what He was saying? Jesus always blessed the disciples; He never spoke idle words to them.

When Jesus spoke to the leper, He blessed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed (Matthew 8:2,3).

Jesus blessed the woman at the well when He spoke to her even though He was very weary from his journey. Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:7,9,10,13,14).

The Disciples Received the Holy Ghost

Before the Resurrection and Pentecost, the disciples couldn’t understand all that Jesus told them. They knew He was the most unusual man they had ever seen and a wonder to behold, but they didn’t have the Holy Ghost living within them to give them the understanding they needed until after Jesus had ascended to Heaven.

Jesus knew the disciples needed that divine help and understanding, so He commanded them to receive the Holy Ghost. And, [Jesus] being assembled together with them [the disciples], commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me (Acts 1:4).

On the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Ghost took over the disciples who were in the Upper Room in such a powerful way that they were never the same. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).

Take note that all those in the Upper Room that day were in one accord. They were ready for the Holy Spirit to come in and blend beautifully with their human spirits to bring about the wonderful personality of Jesus. Divine, cloven tongues like fire came down on each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost. They all spoke in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The Spirit Brings Spiritual Understanding

On the Day of Pentecost, the third person in the Trinity of the Godhead fell on those in the Upper Room; and there was great excitement and action. When people heard about it, they started gathering from all directions. And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this (Acts 2:12)? There was a time Peter couldn’t have explained the meaning; but when the mix within him was right, he had the answer he needed.

Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh (Acts 2:14-17).

Peter preached a powerful message that day, and it brought people to their knees. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls (Acts 2:41).

Thus saith the Lord, the Bride will be full of answers because she too will have that blend of her spirit and the Spirit of the Holy Ghost in her final walk. Jesus was full of answers; John the Baptist was full of answers, and the disciples came to the place where they were full of answers too. They had been full of questions; but having the wonderful advantage of being baptized in the Holy Ghost, they were full of answers.

Yield to the Spirit

After Pentecost, Peter became just like Jesus. How?—the Holy Ghost blended with his human spirit until Peter took on the personality of Jesus. Then Peter used the same power Jesus used, and He obtained the same results Jesus did. There was no difference between Peter’s voice and Jesus’ voice when Peter commanded miracles to be done, and it will be the same with the Bride in this her final walk. She will accomplish much as her spirit blends with the Spirit of the Lord.

What a difference it makes when the Holy Spirit lives inside of people, and they yield to Him! Those in the Upper Room went forth, and people were drawn to them. The Bible tells us of a day when a man lame from his mother’s womb asked alms of Peter and John. Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk (Acts 3:6). This man who had never learned to walk was now walking, and leaping, and praising God (Acts 3:8).

The Early Church prayed for holy boldness. Grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word (Acts 4:29). The Bride will have that same boldness. She will make sure that the Holy Spirit has a holy blend with her spirit, and she won’t be looking for her spirit to blend with people around her. Having the favor of the Lord will be more important to her than having the favor of friends and family.

The Bride will let nothing stand between her and the pure message of salvation, the pure Word of God and the pure holiness of God going forth to others with the light of Heaven in it. The Word of God will convict those lost souls who have honest hearts.

The Holy Spirit can only dwell in hearts that are pure in the sight of God; so your heart must be clean, made holy and sanctified before the Holy Spirit will come in. Then your heart and soul must stay that way, so the Holy Spirit can continue to be welcome. He cannot mix with a spirit that is contaminated with sin and disobedience; and He will not remain in a person when He is grieved, sad or neglected.

Put Self Down

All the light of God’s wisdom, knowledge and glory shines through the Holy Spirit. He is a person, and you must be well acquainted with Him in order for Him to be able to mix with your spirit; so the Lord wants you to learn everything you can about Him. Using your temper in the wrong way can grieve the Spirit. Failing to bridle your tongue and failing to speak with love will push Him away. The Holy Spirit only speaks to you with the love and grace of the Jesus language.

The Jesus language draws people, and you will not win loved ones by being afraid to mention Jesus. If there are some who don’t want to talk about the Lord, leave them alone. As the saying goes, you must be ready to preach, pray or die.

You have to take on the mind of Jesus, so check to see if your mind is operating in harmony with the mind of the Lord. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). How can you take on His mind?—by having the blend of your spirit and the Holy Spirit in perfect harmony.

You must put self down and completely die out to self. Jesus told the disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me (Matthew 16:24). Denying self was a problem for the disciples. They couldn’t keep self denied enough to keep up with Jesus all the time, and many people are like that today. They keep up with Jesus only part of the time because they only deny self part of the time. To keep up with Jesus all the time, you must deny self all the time.

The Lord must always come before self, and you must give Jesus top priority in your life day and night. His call must be more important to you than anyone else’s. How many times do you let other voices call you away from the Lord and what He wants you to do? How many times do you let other things draw you away from prayer, fasting, studying the Word or other things you are doing for the Lord? Do you lay aside what He wants from you to do what you want to?

Samuel Was Given by God

Samuel is a special character in the Old Testament, and his personality blended with the Holy Spirit. Samuel was full of the Lord’s Spirit all of his life. His mother, Hannah, was not able to have children; so as she wept before the Lord in the temple, she prayed, Give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life (I Samuel 1:11).

Hannah was under such a burden as she poured her heart out to God that Eli, the priest, thought she was drunk. And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit…out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto. Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him (I Samuel 1:15-17).

The Lord had been waiting for Hannah to make a vow to Him. She didn’t ask her husband what he thought about it because her vow was between her and the Lord. She had settled it in her mind, and she didn’t cry about it anymore. She had full assurance that God would answer her prayer—and He did. Hannah bore a son and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD (I Samuel 1:20). After Samuel had been weaned, Hannah stayed true to her vow; and she took him to the house of the Lord and to Eli, the priest.

Hannah Had Divine Love

Some people make a covenant; and when God fulfills His part, they forget all about what they had promised. Hannah did not forget her vow; and she told Eli, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD. For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD (I Samuel 1:26-28).

Leaving the son she had wanted for so long must have been very difficult for Hannah, but the love of God helped her. Because of that great love, she was able to pray this beautiful prayer: My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble. The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed (I Samuel 2:1-10).

It took more than human love for Hannah to give up her son so that God could have the priest He wanted. It was divine love that came through the mix of her spirit and the Holy Spirit. God gave her the mix because He knew she would need it.

Samuel Live in God’s Presence

Eli’s sons would have been priests after him, but they were ungodly men; and he was warned that both his sons would die. Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father’s house…And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them. And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind (I Samuel 2:31,34,35). That faithful priest to come was young Samuel. God put great trust in him, and Samuel did not fail to do all the Lord wanted him to.

Hannah saw Samuel only once a year when she went up to the house of God to offer the yearly sacrifice. Each year, she made him a new coat; and her love could measure exactly what size coat she would need from one year to the next. God looked out for Samuel and kept him separated from the world and even from his own family. The Lord lived with Samuel, and I don’t believe the Lord let him be lonely. I believe God made him satisfied in His presence.

When you are full of the Holy Spirit and your human spirit is right, you have a perfect blend that brings great contentment in the presence of the Lord. You love to be in His presence and yearn to be back with the Lord when you are drawn away by the duties of life.

And the child Samuel grew before the LORD (I Samuel 2:21). It is wonderful to grow in the presence of the Lord, and those of you who are doing that know, to some degree, what Samuel was experiencing. You are gaining knowledge of the Scriptures, becoming stronger in the Lord, able to use more of His wisdom and talking the Jesus language. The Lord is giving you more and more understanding of His ways. His happiness and peace are yours, and you are using them.

And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men (I Samuel 2:26). People who came to the house of the Lord admired Samuel and looked upon him with respect. Many of the parents wished they had sons like him, but Samuel was God’s property. His mother had given him to the Lord; and the Lord raised him to be a child who would do everything according to God’s heart, mind and will.

It will be the same with the Bride of Christ in this last hour. God is bringing up a people who will do everything according to His heart, mind and perfect will. The Bride is growing in His presence, His greatness, His wonderful love and peace and all of His wisdom and knowledge. She will do God’s whole will, and that includes all God has in His heart and mind.

Never has there been an outpouring of the Holy Spirit like is happening in our day. The Early Church received the early rain of the Holy Spirit, and the Bride is receiving the latter rain. The early rain was great, but the latter rain is even greater. More people will be included in this latter rain.

God Visited Young Samuel

And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision (I Samuel 3:1). Samuel was God’s child, and he was on a divine mission from the time he was born. There was no open vision until one night, young Samuel was awakened by a voice calling him. He thought it was Eli, and he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again (I Samuel 3:5,6). Samuel had never heard God speak his name before, so he didn’t know it was God; but the Lord knows all His children by name.

The Lord called Samuel’s name a second and a third time; and again, he ran to Eli each time. After the third time, Eli finally understood it was the Lord calling Samuel. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth (I Samuel 3:9,10).

I can just picture young Samuel going back to bed and lying there with his eyes wide open waiting for the voice to come again. He must have been thrilled to find out it was God calling him. Think how you would feel if someone told you that the voice you had heard calling you was God’s and that when you hear it again, just say, “Here am I.” When Samuel finally answered God, it must have thrilled God too.

That was Samuel’s first visitation with the Lord, and God told Samuel that He was going to destroy the house of Eli. Remember that God had already told Eli about it. Eli’s sons had robbed and mistreated the people of Israel and had even committed adultery and fornication with women at the doors of the house of God.

Samuel went back to bed that night, but he didn’t dare tell Eli what God had told him; however, Eli could hardly wait until the next morning to find out what the Lord had said. Eli wanted to hear it all; he wanted nothing to be omitted, so Samuel told him everything. Samuel told Eli that his place in the Lord was gone and that the Lord was going to destroy his sons and take the priesthood from the house of Eli.

Hear the Voice of God

Samuel continued to grow in the Lord. And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground (I Samuel 3:19).

When Eli was ninety-eight, Israel went to war against the Philistines. Eli was told by a messenger that Israel had fled before the Philistines, his two sons had been killed and the Ark of the Covenant had been taken. And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he [Eli] fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died (I Samuel 4:18). God had given the revelation of Eli’s death years before it happened.

All the days of his life, Samuel heard and heeded the voice of God; and the Lord heard Samuel. Samuel had a direct connection with God. That is what the blend of a human personality and the personality of the Lord did in Old Testament days, and the Bride will have the same blend with the Lord today as she recognizes the voice of God.

Study the life of Samuel and know that the voice of the Lord will come to His obedient children in this hour. The voice of the Lord will speak again and again to the hearts of His children, and He will be very close to them.

Many times, the devil has deceived people and made them think they were hearing God talk when it wasn’t God at all. Thus saith the Lord, the Bride isn’t going to be deceived. The Bride will be so close to the Lord that she will know His voice and do His whole will. How could she carry out the desires of the Lord’s heart and mind unless she was close to Him? Jesus is the Bride’s beloved. She will hear no voice like His; and the Master, the Lamb of God, will hear no voice like hers. The Bride is His beloved too.

The Apostle Paul said, I know whom I have believed (II Timothy 1:12). Paul knew all about the wonderful blend of his spirit with that of the Godhead—God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Always keep that blend in mind.

Some people don’t get much out of the Word of God because they don’t keep in mind the things the Lord wants them to. Learn how to be in the presence of the Lord and study the Word of God. Let the Bible become the most exciting book you have ever read. Yield to the drawing power of the Word and spend time with it every day. Feast on the Word of God and love the Word and the faith of God. Love His divine love, peace, goodness, mercy, salvation, baptism in the Holy Spirit and all His greatness.

Saul Was a Failure

Most of the people of Israel didn’t have a blend of the human spirit and divinity. God wanted to be their leader, but they wanted a king. Samuel was grieved about that; but God told him, For they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them (I Samuel 8:7). Samuel knew it wasn’t God’s divine will for Israel to have a king, but God had told him to hearken to the people’s demand; so he anointed Saul to be the first king of Israel.

At first, Saul was humble, lowly and dedicated to God; and he had many things in his favor. He had a kind and giving heart and a forgiving spirit. When people wanted to kill those who opposed his being king, Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for today the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel (I Samuel 11:13).

Saul started out well; but as time passed, he began to fail God. He lost his compassion for God and people, and demons took him over and caused him to have fits of madness.

Eventually, God had taken enough, and He told Samuel to tell Saul that the kingdom had departed from him. Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying, It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night (I Samuel 15:10,11).

God then told Samuel to go and anoint David to be king. And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons (I Samuel 16:1). Samuel did as God had told him to in spite of the fact that if Saul had found out, he could have had Samuel killed.

God had chosen the best He could find when He chose Saul to be king, but Saul had fallen into a totally degraded state. When Saul would have fits, David, with the glorious anointing of the Lord, would have to play the harp to temporarily drive back those demonic spirits. And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him (I Samuel 16:23).

Later, Saul openly sought to kill David; but when David had a chance to kill Saul, he spared his life. Even though Saul was backslidden and rejected by God, David respected the fact that at one time, he had been the anointed of the Lord. And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD’s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD (I Samuel 24:6).

Do the Lord’s Work

Study the life of Samuel, and it will help you see how you too can have the blend of the Holy Spirit with your human spirit; but you must yield one hundred percent to the Holy Spirit and the blood of Calvary. There cannot be one sin in your life; you must be pure, clean and holy through the cleansing blood of Jesus. Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16). God made that holiness available to us when He sent Jesus and His divine blood from Heaven to Earth. Jesus made it possible for us to be free from all sin.

The Bride will recognize the voice of the Lord calling her just as Samuel had learned to recognize His voice. She will yield to that call in a wonderful way like Samuel did, and she will do all the Lord has in mind for her to do. The Lord has much in his heart and mind for the Bride in this final hour. It is a blessed, wonderful hour, and you can blend with the Holy Spirit in a marvelous way and yield to Him completely. There is nothing in the whole world like that divine blend.

With the right blend in their spirits, the disciples became spiritual giants overnight. They were great voices in the land and a mighty force for the Lord. People, and even kings and priests, shook under the power of the Lord. Rome did everything it could to still the disciples’ voices, but even persecution and martyrdom didn’t stop them from spreading the Gospel.

Thus saith the Lord, the Bride’s voice will not be stilled in this her final hour. Her voice will ring out loud and clear, and the light of God will shine through her to illuminate the darkest corners of the world. When Jesus was here, The people which sat in darkness saw great light (Matthew 4:16); and those who sit in darkness today will see great light because of the Bride. Many people will come to the Light, and others will not; but the Bride will be the voice of the Lord in this dark world. Her hands and eyes will be the Lord’s, and she will look on people with His love; and that love will compel the lost to come to Jesus. The poorest of the poor will be reached and adorned with the riches of Heaven in this final hour of the harvest.

Be Just Like Jesus

The Bride will speak as the voice of the Lord, and the Spirit of the living God will be great within her because she will have that wonderful, divine blend. She will be sowing and reaping for the Lord, and she will lift her voice that is blended perfectly with the Holy Spirit; and thousands will be saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost in a moment of time.

The heavens will open, and the glory of the Lord will be in the eyes of the very obedient. They will look on that which saints of God have looked on in the past. How wonderful it is to see an angel of the Lord—to see his humility and study his eyes that are like pools of love!

When angels speak, they speak in the first person as God Himself. That is because of the blend angelic beings have with the Almighty. Angels are in perfect harmony with God. No doubt or fear comes between them and God; they have only love. No force compels them to obey; they willingly obey every thought of God. As you study them, you will want to move in closer and closer to divinity.

The holy blend you are to have is brought about by divinity. The Bible tells us to be like Jesus and walk in His steps, but only the Holy Spirit can make you like Jesus; you cannot do it within yourself. Only by yielding to the Holy Spirit can you walk and talk like Jesus.

The Early Church became just like Jesus. They did His wonderful works on a larger scale than Jesus was able to do when He was here. Again, I say you can be like Jesus too but only through the Holy Spirit using the divine blood. If you are saved, it is through the Holy Spirit using the blood of Jesus to save your soul. The Spirit is the agent who applied the blood to your soul. Then through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you can walk in the footprints of Christ. The blend of the human spirit and the Holy Spirit enables you to walk, talk and be like Jesus.

I love the greatness of the Holy Spirit and the way He talks, moves, possesses a soul. I never get tired of seeing people being baptized in the real Holy Ghost. No one teaches them to speak in tongues; they speak as the Holy Ghost gives the utterance. I have seen the Holy Spirit baptize thousands of people. Their lips begin to tremble, and they begin to stammer. Then the Holy Spirit takes over and speaks in another language.

When I see the lips of seekers tremble, I recognize the working of the Holy Spirit. In a divine visitation many years ago, the Lord told me I would call down the Holy Ghost upon people. He showed me that as His power came upon them, I should say, “That is the power of God. Let the Holy Ghost come in, saith the Lord!” We are the Lord’s witnesses when we recognize the real Holy Spirit.

Receive Jesus

Before you can be baptized in the Holy Spirit, you need salvation in your soul. If you don’t have Jesus today, let me pray the sinner’s prayer with you now: Oh, God. Save my soul! I am so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I’m going to serve you, Lord, the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come into my heart! If you meant that prayer, He has come; and He is yours. Start praying and reading your Bible, and Bible fasting will also help you.

You must now go on to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. He is for you. The Bible says the promise of the Holy Ghost is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:39).

Oh, Mighty God, we thank you today for sending the good Holy Ghost. We thank you for making it possible for each one to have a personal baptism in the Holy Spirit and to have the Holy Ghost living and dwelling on the inside. We thank you, Lord, that we can be taught, directed and used by Him. We know that with His guidance, we will gather the harvest and be ready to meet you, dear Jesus, in the air. We will be ready because we have put our trust and confidence in your glorious Holy Spirit. He lives and dwells on the inside of us, and He has come to Earth to get a Bride ready for Jesus.

If you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, close your eyes a moment and think about the time when the Holy Spirit came in. If you don’t have the baptism, lift your heart to the Lord and ask Him to baptize you in His glorious Spirit with all of His glorious love, faith, power, wisdom, understanding and knowledge. He is here. The name is Jesus, and He loves you.

Thus Saith the Lord

Yea, saith the Spirit of the Lord, I am moving for you to receive my glorious Spirit. I am moving for you to let my Spirit possess you. I am moving for you to yield your mind, your soul and your body to my Holy Spirit so you can be used by my Spirit, so you can be fed by my Spirit, and so my Spirit can help you, and even help you talk to me and make intercession for you when you know not how to reach me because your heart is so heavy. With groanings, my Spirit makes intercession for my people.

Receive my Spirit, you that are without my holy baptism. Receive my power from On High. The devil is seeking to keep you from my Spirit. He knows you will be made strong in my greatness. He knows it will be through my Spirit that the spots and wrinkles will be removed from people’s lives in this final hour, and they will be made ready for the coming of their Lord.

My Spirit is for all, and I promised to give my Spirit to all that will obey me. Yield not to self, but yield to my Spirit; and you will be filled with my Spirit…filled with my Spirit…filled with my faith and love and greatness…filled, saith the Lord.
