Separate into the Promises of God
by Ernest Angley
November 2015
God has given us many promises for soul, mind and body; and we must reach for them, eagerly accept them, embrace them and hold on to them. It is not enough just to know God’s promises; we must believe them and hug them to our hearts without doubting. The Lord wants everyone to separate from the world and to come into His promises.
A promise is a pledge of assurance or a declaration that guarantees someone will or will not do something, and a promise from God is the greatest assurance you can ever have. Sometimes there is a period of waiting and proving between the promise and its fulfillment; but it will always be fulfilled as long as we live for God, praise Him and do the things that we can do.
Every one of God’s promises carries all the love, all the light, all the strength, all the power and all the greatness of God; and each promise stands on its own. You can stake your life on any promise in the Bible because each one is just as strong as God Himself. Jesus said, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35).
Separate from the World
The prayer Jesus prayed in John 17 was for His disciples at that time and for those to come, and it tells of the separation He wants His children to have; so you must study that prayer carefully. Jesus was getting the disciples ready for rivers of living water to flow from their innermost beings, and He wants to prepare us for that, too.
Jesus told the Father, I have given them thy word [or promises]; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world (John 17:14). Being in the world but not of the world is real separation.
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world (John 17:15,16). Jesus wanted the Father to keep the disciples separated in an evil world just as He had been; and when you give your life completely to the Lord, you will not be a part of the world.
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth (John 17:17). “Sanctify” means to make holy or to set apart into the holiness of God. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth (John 17:18,19). As the Son of God, Jesus did not need any sanctification; but as a human, Jesus was showing us that everyone must be sanctified.
Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee (John 17:20,21). We must take our place in the Lord, and God intends for us to have the same place in His heart and in His Kingdom as Jesus had.
That they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me (John 17:21). We must be in one mind and one accord with the Lord, and we must be just like Jesus and have divinity on the inside of us to be able to draw the world to the Gospel. Jesus was saying, “Father, I pray for them to have the same light, the same connection and the same closeness to you that I have had so that all your promises can be fulfilled for them.”
And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one (John 17:22). Jesus willed to us the same glory, the same special attention and the same special love that He had. We are on Earth just as Jesus was on Earth, and the Father wants to be with us just like He was with His Son.
Jesus was willing to take on flesh like ours and have the same weaknesses we have, and then He was willing to not be able to use any more divinity than what is available to us. There was no more on the Lord’s table for Jesus than what is there for us right now. He was subject to all the temptations of the flesh that we have, but He did not bow to them. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). That is why we must be convinced that we can live, talk and be just like Jesus.
Live in the Six Spiritual Senses
All of this is unbelievable to our five human senses; and that is why thus saith the Lord, the Bride must now live in the six spiritual senses. None of this can become real to you unless you live in the six spiritual senses.
We all know that the five human senses are hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch; but there are also five spiritual senses—divine hearing, divine sight, divine smell, divine taste and divine touch. Then there is a sixth spiritual sense which is divine faith, and we must have all six of them working for us. Our five physical senses are beautiful because God created them; but if even just one of them is contaminated with the least bit of sin, it is not holy, and the spiritual senses can only work for us when all of our physical senses are holy.
We are in warfare against the devil; and that is why the Lord knew that outside of Eden, we would need more than just physical senses. We cannot fight the spiritual darkness in the world today with weapons of men; we have to fight this war with the spiritual things of God. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).
As members of the bridal company in this final hour, we have to be the hands, the eyes and the voice of God; but we can only reach so high and see a limited distance with our physical senses. However, with spiritual sight and spiritual faith, we can see all the way to the Rapture and to that heavenly city whose builder and maker is God.
As a man, Jesus had to reach for God in the same way that we have to. He had human flesh, human hands and a human brain just like ours; but He took on all the characteristics He needed to make His mind like that of the heavenly Father. That is why Jesus was able to use the knowledge of God and live completely in the will of God. The Holy Spirit was able to feed His human mind the deep thoughts of God, and the Spirit must be able to do that with us.
The first Adam had a divine mind filled with divine knowledge, and every decision he made was just right because he had perfect thinking. How many mistakes could we have avoided if we had been able to think like that? Now, the Lord is making all the knowledge we will ever need available to us.
No Divine Promises in Self
God’s promises will not do you any good unless you claim them. If you inherit money, you have to claim it; and you have to go after God’s promises and the fulfillment of them the same way. Every one of His great promises belongs to you; but you have to recognize that fact or you will not be able to accept them or let them become real to you. Many people talk about God’s promises, but talking faith will not work. Jesus said, Only believe (Mark 5:36). He also said, All things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). You have to believe and then keep on believing.
You cannot claim or use any of God’s promises without putting self down because His promises are out of reach to the physical you. You have to separate from self because self is your worst enemy. Many people blame others for their failures and weaknesses, but God knows who is at fault.
When Adam sinned, he blamed Eve; and she blamed the serpent. But God still said to Adam, Where art thou? And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat (Genesis 3:9-13).
God made the gate of Glory so that you have to go in single file; no one else can take you through that gate. You are responsible before God for what you do and say, and He will not accept any excuses.
You cannot be directed by the flesh; but until you conquer self, you will heed the flesh again and again saying, “I don’t feel like it.” What that really means is you don’t have the faith for it. If God does not have the faith for something to be done, then you are justified; but if God has the faith to do it, then you can have the faith to do the same thing.
Self relies on feelings rather than divine faith, and feelings come from the five physical senses. If you are saved, you have just as much salvation when you don’t feel it as when you do feel it because salvation is a promise of God. You move into that promise when you accept it and separate from the world, and then salvation is yours no matter how you feel.
Man Was Contaminated
When Adam and Eve sinned, man’s nature was contaminated; and it became known as the Adamic nature. The Lord did not give man that kind of nature; he got it from the devil when he yielded to him and took on his spirit. Then the divine blood that Adam had been created with was contaminated, too; and it has remained that way for thousands of years. That is why man has had so much trouble and why God has had so much trouble with man.
Most so-called Christians throughout the world today have never totally gotten rid of the Adamic nature and stayed free of it. Even many preachers are not free from it, and they teach that no one can live free from sin; but the Bible says, Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin (Romans 6:12,13).
Salvation is promised to everyone, and it is the greatest promise God has ever made. But as many as received him [Jesus], to them gave he power to become the sons [or daughters] of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). To believe on His name, you have to go to Calvary. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all (Romans 4:16). Jesus did not come through the Old Testament Law; He came through the grace, truth and mercy of God.
The Law could never get rid of sin, and that is why Jesus had to come with divine blood. He brought the power to make us servants of righteousness. But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness (Romans 6:17,18).
When you are saved, sin has no power over you because all your sins have been washed away; and God will never hold them against you again. He [God] will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19).
Jesus brought the remedy for sin so everyone could be free and be just like Him. When you are saved, your soul becomes just as pure and clean as Jesus’ soul was; and all of His advantages become yours.
Surrender All
You must have the knowledge of Jesus Christ; but to have it, you have to separate into the promise of His knowledge for you. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (II Corinthians 4:6). Paul was trying to get the people of his day to separate from the world; and for the first thirty-three years of the Early Church, its members did not love the things of the world. They did not cater to anyone but the Lord, and they had complete victory over self; but after those thirty-three years, many members of the Church began to love the world and to become a part of it.
Jesus said we must deny self. If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me (Luke 9:23). You cannot completely surrender your heart to God without denying self because the Spirit only reigns when self is dead, and self cannot rise up as long as you use the six spiritual senses.
The Christian walk has been so hard for most of God’s people because they have not completely surrendered to the Lord and separated from the world. They are not living by promise or by faith but by their feelings and their five physical senses; and in most cases, their senses also have some contamination of the Adamic nature. That is so dangerous because they could easily lose everything.
Paul wrote, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1). A holy sacrifice is a person who has no contamination and is living in the six spiritual senses. That is the only way you can present your body as a complete, holy sacrifice to the Lord daily.
The Bible says, That he [Jesus] might present it [the Bride of Christ] to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27). God needs the Bride to do His will in this final hour; and He needs to use her hands, her eyes and her mind. We can see her in types and shadows in the Old Testament; and in every instance, she was strong, special and separated unto God. Now, the Bride is coming forth at last to be all that God said she would be. She must shine for the Lord because she is the only light of Heaven some people will ever see. Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:14,16).
Live through the Six Spiritual Senses
Jesus came to show us how to be godly men and godly women, and that is all God has ever wanted. He made a perfect man and woman when He made Adam and Eve, and the whole human race was always to have been that way. That is why Jesus came—so we can all be perfect again and be just like Him. Therefore, we must study Jesus and all of His actions and separate ourselves from anything that is unlike Him.
One thing you must definitely separate from is doubt; and the wonderful spiritual sense of faith is the only thing that can completely separate you from doubt. The Bible says, God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3); and you can have as many measures as you need to claim every promise given under the New Covenant. However, if you don’t use that divine faith, you will go back to using human faith and having doubt. Then you cannot receive all the greatness of God.
Through divine faith, you can taste God’s promises; and then you will have the strength of faith to receive them. The Bible says, Taste and see that the LORD is good (Psalm 34:8). The Psalmist said, How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth (Psalm 119:103)!
Stephen had the spiritual sense of sight; and when he was being stoned, he cried, “I see Jesus!” But he [Stephen], being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God (Acts 7:55,56). Stephen did not see Jesus with his physical sight but with spiritual sight. That is why most people within hearing distance of him that day did not know the meaning of what he said or believe he really saw Jesus; but if we will use spiritual faith today and have no doubt, we will know that Stephen saw Jesus.
Through the spiritual senses, you must separate into every promise of God. They are yours, and they will never be destroyed. You must live in them; and then you will have all the spiritual strength, help and gratification you need because all of the divine love, light, knowledge and understanding of God are in each promise. The Lord could have given His promises to us without Jesus coming down to Earth, but we never could have claimed them. Jesus had to become human and our elder brother so that He could show us that we as humans can live by promise.
Have a Mind of Divinity
Coming into the promises of God means separating from confusion, and you can do that by taking on the mind of Jesus. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5). When Jesus was here, He had an unshakable mind with the same six spiritual senses that are offered to you; and you must have that same mind so God can contact and communicate with your mind at any time.
You have to learn all you can about Christ’s mind, and then you have to know that His mind is willed to you. Jesus was born on Earth with a human mind just as we were, and then He added the same divine ingredients to His mind that we can. You must let Jesus become real to you as a human and as divinity. He was very man yet very God, and God has given us His Son’s mind of power. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). If your mind is not sound in the Holy Scriptures today, it is because you are not living by promise.
Walk in God’s Divine Will
You must separate from everything that is displeasing to God and against His promises; but without the spiritual sense of faith, it will be impossible for you to please God. But without [divine] faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). Human faith cannot please God or keep you on the road of God’s divine will. That is why so many Christians walk in God’s permissible will, but only when you walk in the divine will of God will all things work together for your good. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).
If we had walked in God’s divine will from the time we were born, our lives would have been different. So much of our suffering has been because we were not following God’s divine will, so we ended up on paths that God never laid out for our feet. When people walk in the will of God, they are separated into His love, direction, wisdom and hope.
When Jesus walked on Earth, He followed every path that the Father laid out for His feet; and the Lord has laid out every path for you, too. He seeks to direct you at home, at work, at school and even in choosing the mate He has for you; but if you did not follow God’s divine will in choosing your mate, don’t blame God for your unhappiness. God puts couples together to agree, blend and work together and to have a happy life.
If you want the home God wants you to have, you will wait for it; but if you go ahead and buy what you want, then don’t blame God if it doesn’t work out. When you don’t follow God’s directions, you are not living in His promises. You cannot go back and change things; but from this day forward, you can say, “Lord, I am going to wait for your will in everything.”
When you live in the will of God, you will work for Him because God is a worker; but if you are lazy, you are not like God. The Bible even says, For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat (II Thessalonians 3:10). The Bible also says, That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises (Hebrews 6:12).
When you work for God, angels will join in to help you. Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14)? Angels ministered to people in the Old Testament, so how much more will they do that under the New Covenant?
Fasting Brings Spiritual Power
You must live by God’s promise that says, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). This refers to fasting, and Bible fasting causes you to live on the Word of God. You separate from food and go into the determination, the love, the Spirit and the anointing of God. This kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21).
Never go on a long fast without separating from the five physical senses and going into the six spiritual senses, or you will be in trouble. Jesus used the spiritual senses for fasting, and He showed us how to do it. When I finish forty days of fasting, I know that I have Jesus victory because Jesus went the limit in everything; and He is our example. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps (I Peter 2:21).
Before Jesus started His ministry, He fasted for forty days. When He had finished, the devil came to torment Him; but he could not do a thing with Jesus. When the devil talked to Him, Jesus did not argue with him; He just gave him the Word three times saying, It is written (Matthew 4:4,7,10). That is a great lesson—never debate with the devil; just give him the Word, and that Word must become your life when you are fasting.
If you want to get everything you can out of a fast, you must approach it through the divine, spiritual senses the way Jesus did. Then you will get spiritual results and have the spiritual power you need to meet the devil head-on. Jesus showed us that it would work; and anything that worked for Jesus will work for us, or there would have been no need for Him to come.
Jesus was the Son of God, and He had the greatness of God in Him; but as a human, He had to fast to be able to use that greatness. In this last hour, the Bride will have to fast to use the greatness of God that is in her, too. Then she can use God’s greatness just like Jesus did.
In the beginning of the Church, the disciples used God’s greatness; and that is why family, friends, money, wealth or possessions never held them back. They were separated into the promises of eternal life, eternal bliss, eternal joy, eternal Heaven and the great promise of the Lord’s return. They were just, and they lived in all of God’s great promises just as the Bible says we should. The just shall live by faith [or by God’s promises] (Romans 1:17).
The Spirit vs. the Flesh
Paul knew that any worldly contamination was deadly; so in his many writings, he was trying to get people to separate and to get rid of the Adamic nature. He knew that to be carnally minded would mean death because the carnal mind is against God. And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ (I Corinthians 3:1).
Paul carefully separated the Spirit of God and the spirit of man for the Romans. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:1). When you are free of the Adamic nature, you can move into the glorious promises of God through the six spiritual senses.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2). Through Jesus, we can be free from the law of man and the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh (Romans 8:3). God sent His Son to Earth in the form of human flesh, and He showed us His great power through Jesus. Now in this last hour, He is going to show His magnificent power to the world through each member of the bridal company.
That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:4). We must walk after the Spirit; but if you don’t, you are not walking in the promises of God either. You must live, walk and dine in the promises of God; but if you have even just one speck of contamination, you will not be able to hold onto those promises like you should, and that hinders and prolongs their fulfillment.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit (Romans 8:5). If you live in the five physical senses rather than the six spiritual senses, you will pay attention to the things of the flesh and to what your family or others are saying. What if the Early Church disciples had done that? There would have been no perfect beginning to the Church of Jesus Christ that we have as an example today. Those disciples paid the price so we would know what the true Church is supposed to be like and can be like through using the spiritual senses and all the promises of God.
Live in Divine Peace and Joy
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6). We are to be full of divine life and peace today, but the devil tries to rob and deceive children of God to make them think they cannot have peace. People who have any contamination of the Adamic nature definitely have no peace because divine peace only comes through the six spiritual senses.
Human peace will not work, and that is why there are so many miserable people in the world today. When you depend on human peace, everything around you always has to be going right; but when you have spiritual peace, a storm can be raging all around you, and it won’t make any difference because you have divine peace on the inside. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Divine peace passes all the understanding of the five physical senses, but it doesn’t pass the understanding of the spiritual senses.
You don’t have to pray for the Lord to give you peace because when you have come out of self and into the divine presence and will of God, you will have peace and joy. In thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore (Psalm 16:11). If you are not happy today, you must claim the promise of joy. Both peace and joy are fruits of the Spirit, and they are all yours. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance (Galatians 5:22,23).
You cannot dine on those spiritual fruits without the spiritual senses. For example, without spiritual taste, the fruit will not taste right; so you will not feel the need of it. However, when you have the spiritual senses, the fruits will taste so good and delicious; and they will give you great strength.
If you don’t have joy and peace today, you are letting the devil rob you; and many people hinder themselves by taking on the wrong spirits of fear, despair, oppression and depression. They are always worrying about something when the Lord told us not to. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof (Matthew 6:34).
Some of you have worried about tomorrow more than you have ever lived in today; but when your tomorrows came, were they really all that bad? Did you starve to death or go naked, or did the Lord feed and clothe you? Jesus said, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). We are to put our trust in the Lord. He takes care of the flowers, so why would He not take care of you? When speaking of the flowers, Jesus said, Even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these (Matthew 6:29).
Does God not feed the birds? Some of you can believe the Lord loves and takes care of the sparrows, but you can’t believe He loves you enough to take care of you. Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they (Matthew 6:26)?
The Flesh Cannot Please God
Paul continued to instruct the Romans saying, Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be (Romans 8:7). A carnal mind is not subject to the law of God’s eternal love because it has rebellion and stubbornness, and God hates those things.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:8). This again emphasizes that if you are walking in the five physical senses, you cannot please God. Jesus paid a great price for you to come out of the physical senses and go into the spiritual senses; but to be able to use those senses, your human senses must be perfect, and you must have the understanding, the wisdom and the knowledge of God.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you (Romans 8:9). If the spirit of God dwells in you, you will not obey or give over to the flesh; you will deny it.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his (Romans 8:9). You do not belong to God if you don’t have His spirit. Now, there are people who have some of the spirit of God; and although they are not committing willful sin, they are hindered in their walk with God, in using His promises and in reaching out for the things of God because they will not yield completely.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness (Romans 8:10). When you are saved, your body is dead as far as wanting to commit sin because, through Jesus, you have control over what your body will do, how it will act and whether it will be holy or unholy.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11). Now, if the Spirit of the Lord could raise a dead body and give it life, God can also give you life through His Spirit.
The Promise of the Holy Ghost
You must embrace the promise of the Holy Ghost. Jesus told the disciples, Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient [necessary] for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter [the Holy Ghost] will not come unto you (John 16:7). Jesus referred to the Holy Ghost with the personal pronoun “He” because He is a person, and we have to be led by Him and not by our own human spirit. The Lord told the disciples that the Holy Spirit would be their guide, their comforter and their teacher. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth; so with Him, there is no room for any darkness. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13). Through the Holy Spirit, we can have all the truth that Jesus brought. That is why it is so essential for everyone to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost in this final hour.
After Jesus was resurrected, He stayed on Earth for forty days to teach the disciples about the Holy Ghost; and He said, Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49). The promise of the Father was the Holy Ghost, and Jesus commanded them to receive Him. And, being assembled together with them, [Jesus] commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me (Acts 1:4).
The promise of the Holy Ghost was not just for the disciples but for everyone. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:39).
Before Jesus began His ministry here on Earth, He received the promise of the Holy Ghost. Only then did He have all the anointings He needed. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18,19).
Later, when the disciples received the Holy Ghost, people saw and heard what was taking place; and Peter explained, Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear (Acts 2:33).
You can’t fight God or the Holy Ghost and go to Heaven; and without the Spirit of God helping you in this late hour, you will never make it. Some people don’t believe that, but they will find out too late that it is true. Jesus said, Whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come (Matthew 12:32).
Jesus also said, Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it (Matthew 7:13,14). The Lord wants us to follow the narrow way, and that is why He gave us the Holy Ghost to guide us because the Spirit knows all about us.
Do not let discouragement bother you; never listen to people who don’t know what they are talking about, and pay no attention to hypocrites. Doing those things will lead you the wrong way; and the Bible says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4).
Be Willing to Wait
Abraham was promised a son, but that promise was not fulfilled until twenty-five years after it was given; so we also have to be careful to embrace God’s promises even when there is a long waiting period or we will not receive them. We cannot try to fulfill a promise of God with human efforts like Abraham and Sarah did. When Sarah had not conceived after quite a few years, she told Abraham to go in unto her bondwoman; and Abraham listened to her. And Sarai said unto Abram, Behold now, the LORD hath restrained me from bearing: I pray thee, go in unto my maid; it may be that I may obtain children by her. And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai. And Sarai Abram’s wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian…and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife. And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son’s name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael (Genesis 16:2-4,15). Sarah and Abraham got ahead of God, and that mistake is still causing great havoc today in the Middle East.
When God promises something, He means it; and if you believe it, it will happen. The Bible tells us that God did keep His promise to Abraham. Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised (Hebrews 11:11). The Bible also says that after he [Abraham] had patiently endured, he obtained the promise (Hebrews 6:15). Some of you do not patiently endure; and instead, you give up.
The Bible also says that he [Abraham] staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform (Romans 4:20,21).
The Lord only works through faith, and He is working with all the abilities of Heaven to get you ready to receive the fulfillment of His promises while you are here on Earth; and when you are ready, then you will receive.
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise (Hebrews 10:36). Notice that you have to do the will of God in order to receive a promise; and when you do, just hug that promise a little closer to your heart and praise God more than ever; and it will be fulfilled.
God is a faithful promise-giver; but you must judge Him faithful all the time, not just some of the time. Then the Lord will furnish all things for you. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Promises Come through Faith
God performed some mighty miracles in the Old Testament, so how much more will He do for us now? The Bible speaks of our High Priest, Jesus, saying, But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises (Hebrews 8:6). Those promises are divine blood promises.
God’s promises are fulfilled through faith; and the Bible says, Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). It also says, But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil (II Thessalonians 3:3). How will the Lord establish you?—in His promises.
God will give you the strength you need to live in His promises, and all you have to do is use it. Your faith will be tried, but you would never know how strong or how good it is if it wasn’t. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ (I Peter 1:6,7).
The Bible tells us more than once that we must not have wavering faith. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (Hebrews 10:23). But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord (James 1:6,7).
People do not rely on God’s promises like they should, and that is why they don’t go any further in the Lord than they do. God’s promises lay the foundation of what we can expect from Him; but if you don’t believe them and accept them, you are on your own.
Act Like Jesus
You will have to suffer all kinds of persecution when you walk in Christ’s steps; but through His promises, you can say, “Blessed am I.” Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you (Matthew 5:11,12).
You can actually cause your own persecutions, and your tongue has so much to do with it. The Bible says, For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body (James 3:2). How do you not offend in Word?—by speaking God’s love language. You will never do unnecessary damage to anyone, except to the devil and his kingdom, when you speak that language.
With the love language, you will not talk about other people in the wrong way or run them down. You also must not listen to those who don’t speak the love language because their words can contaminate you; and when people pass on things that others are supposed to have said, they usually get it all wrong anyway. Gossip is the devil’s language, and it causes confusion; and confusion is not of God. For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace (I Corinthians 14:33). When Jesus was here, the Bible says there was no guile in Him. Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth (I Peter 2:22).
If people would be just like Jesus and embrace His promises like they should, they would grow into His stature just as the Bible says they will. Till we all [meaning everybody] come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13).
Separation Brings Freedom
There is so much that we must be separated from, and there can be no dedication without separation. Dedication is something that you act out every day; but separation must be one permanent act—you must separate from the world for good and be finished with it. Then you will be absolutely free. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36).
When you are a child of God, freedom is your heritage. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). If you are free today, it is because the truth—Jesus—set you free. You have a new, sanctified, holy life that is completely different from the world. Then you are free to use the six spiritual senses, to speak God’s love language, to have the deep thoughts of God and to walk all the divine paths He has laid out for you.
True children of God are chosen by Him, and they are so special to Him that He walks inside them. As God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people (II Corinthians 6:16).
God’s people are getting ready for greater and greater things, and the Lord said it would be so. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12).
It is time for us to rise up with complete victory over all sin, to be separated from this old world and never to be contaminated with it again. We must stand up and rejoice in Lord God Almighty, in His mighty strength and in His great promises to us. Those promises will give us life here on Earth and for eternity.
Jesus is our victory; and He said, Because I live, ye shall live also (John 14:19). Our bodies will go back to the dust of the Earth, but the devil can never kill our souls. We will have glorious, new bodies just like the one Jesus came forth with from the grave. Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself (Philippians 3:21).
God Is Faithful
The Bible tells you everything you need to know; but if you fail to live in its promises and separate yourself unto God, you will not be able to accept what the Word says. It is not enough just to read a promise or claim it; you have to live in that promise by meeting all its qualifications and waiting patiently for it to be fulfilled. But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it (Romans 8:25). Then close your case knowing God will do what He promised just as He did for Abraham. After he [Abraham] had patiently endured, he obtained the promise (Hebrews 6:15).
The promises and the spiritual senses are worth more than all the wealth of the world, so children of God are rich. All of God’s promises belong to us, and we can use them any time just like we would use our money to buy the things we need. The difference is that when we are walking in the Spirit, we are using faith and love instead of money.
You must be determined to embrace God’s promises in every area of your life and know that all of His promises are true. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us (II Corinthians 1:20). “Yea” here means yes, affirmed or truly so. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9).
Have you repented before God and embraced the promise of eternal life? And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life (I John 2:25). The Lord promised that we can live forever without any aches, pains or bad feelings. Isn’t that worth embracing and striving for? Titus claimed that promise; and he said, In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began (Titus 1:2).
Paul warned the Hebrews, Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it (Hebrews 4:1). He wanted them to be very careful so they would not miss Heaven. Paul also warned Timothy, For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come (I Timothy 4:8). Paul did not say that exercise doesn’t profit us at all but that it does not profit us as much as spiritual exercise does.
We must be looking for that eternal life to come. Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness (II Peter 3:13). We will have a great time in Heaven all because of Jesus!
Receive the Salvation Promise
If you mean business with God today, embrace His promises and hug them close; and you will be able to say, “My future is as bright as the promises of God.” He proved His faithfulness when He gave us Jesus and opened the door of Heaven for us. Heaven is millions of miles away, but Jesus made it such a short distance through the divine blood. We need only take one step, and we are there. He took the strength and the pain out of death, so we don’t have to walk that valley anymore. Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory (I Corinthians 15:54,55)? Death is our enemy. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death (I Corinthians 15:26). But Christ is our victory and our life.
Do you believe God’s promise of salvation? Are you ready to go to Heaven? If not, you need to be redeemed so you won’t die lost. Pray the sinners’ prayer right now: Oh, God, save my soul! Forgive me of my sins. I am so sorry that I sinned against you, Lord; but I have come home, and I am going to serve you for the rest of my life. I believe that the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in! If you meant that prayer, now you can say, “Hallelujah, He has come!”
Embrace Your Miracle
The first Adam was created with divine blood in his veins, so he was never to have been sick; however, sickness took over after he sinned, and that is why the Second Adam, Jesus, had to bring healing. His divine blood kills the contamination of sicknesses and diseases in our human bodies; and thank God, He paid the price for it. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his [blood] stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). That is a glorious promise, and I have seen it fulfilled again and again. When you put anything unlike God under the blood and leave it there, it will die.
Sickness does not come from God because the Bible tells us that only perfect gifts come from Him. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17). If you think your sicknesses come from God, don’t ask me to pray for you because I do not want to work against God. Don’t go to the doctor or the pharmacist either because you will have them trying to work against God.
Thousands of people in our crusade services receive miracles of all kinds, yet there are others who have heard the truth and seen it in action and still struggle to receive. The reason is that they did not embrace the healing promise and hold on to it like they should have, and this is thus saith the Lord. You have to hold fast to that which is right and good. Hold fast that which is good (I Thessalonians 5:21). The Bible also says, For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required (Luke 12:48).
You who are sick and afflicted, embrace the promise of healing and get ready for the Lord to move for you. The Lord is the healer, and I am His believer. You may have AIDS, cancer, heart trouble, lung trouble, paralysis or leprosy; but no matter what your disease or affliction is, God can heal you. Just trust in Him; He is your faith.
Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you. You have given me your mighty, wonderful gifts to bring deliverance to the people; and through those marvelous, supernatural gifts, healing comes in the name of your Son, Jesus. Heal! in the holy name of the Lord. Heal! in the all-powerful name of Jesus. Let that power work within you, and it will get you well. Then write and tell me about it, and I will rejoice with you.
The Lord is doing great and mighty things, and He will do those things for you when you learn how to separate into His promises. If you will separate into them right now, your needs will be supplied.
