Power, Power, God’s Great Power
by Ernest Angley

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49). Power from On High: Today is the pouring-out time of power from On High. Man had power when God created him in Eden. Man was not created in weakness but in the great, mighty power of God. He was created in such a realm of God’s miraculous power that he was never to have been sick or to have died. Never was he to have given over to the devil in any way; never was the devil to have influenced him.
In putting His divine trust in man, God did not look into his future—and He could have; He had the power to do it, but that would not have been trust. God trusted man, and He wanted man to trust Him. God was so sure man would not fail that the devil was allowed to talk to the man and woman He had made. God had given them His all-mighty power to overcome. Adam and Eve had the power to resist the devil, but they also had free choice—and they chose wrong. That wrong choice cost them all the divine power that God had given them, power that was lost to man until Jesus came.
The Second Adam
At special times after Eden, man had God’s overcoming power; but no one ever had all that Adam had, not until the second Adam came. It was necessary for a second Adam to come to restore what the first Adam had lost. Where would he come from? He couldn’t be found on Earth; He had to come from Heaven. Could an angel be the one to bring redemption? No. It would take divine blood to redeem mankind. The Only Begotten of the Father would have to come to Earth to bring man back into the family of God. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12).
Few people have ever understood what the power of God is. Even some who have received the baptism in the Holy Ghost did not go on into the knowledge of the power of God. Jesus, the second Adam, said, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8). It took power to start the Church, and God gave the great power of the Holy Ghost for it. All hell couldn’t defeat the Church of Jesus Christ in the beginning.
The Physical and the Spiritual Senses
The Early Church came immediately into the six spiritual senses, and that’s the reason God could do anything and everything He wanted with them; nothing could stop them. But the Church didn’t keep that power.
There is a difference between the five physical senses that operate in the human and the six spiritual ones that operate through divinity. The physical senses and the spiritual senses must work in harmony if we are to do all the work of God, with the physical senses being under subjection to the spiritual senses.
In this hour very few of God’s people have ever lived in the six spiritual senses all the time. Depending more on the physical senses than on the spiritual ones, most people haven’t known the drastic difference between them.
Faith is the sixth spiritual sense, the sixth spiritual power that believes all God’s promises. The spiritual power of faith is beyond one’s physical power: It’s power that moves mountains, power that overcomes all the powers of the devil, power that heals body as well as soul.
Physical faith is very limited; spiritual faith is the faith that brings the miracles, faith is a gift from God just as love is a gift from Him.
The spiritual power of taste takes you into the greatness of God. The spiritual power of hearing lets you hear that which the physical ears cannot hear. You smell the fragrance of God, the heavenly fruits with the spiritual sense of smell. All six spiritual senses are gifts from God, and He wants you to have them.
Look at God’s Power in Action
What is power, God’s power? If someone were to ask you what His power consists of, how many things could you name? People have not really considered what goes into His power. For some people, power is a manifestation of outward emotion, jerking, quaking, shouting and noise. This is not God’s power but the effects it can have on people.
The power of God is to be used. When you look at God in action, His power did the work, defeated the enemy.
This is the power of God: Love. There is no stronger power than the divine love of God. And now abideth faith, hope, charity [love], these three; but the greatest of these is charity [love] (I Corinthians 13:13).
Faith, divine faith is power. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Divine hope is power. Divine hope gives you power and strength against the devil. You hope for that which you cannot see, and faith brings it about so you can see it in divine reality.
Joy is power. The Bible says: The joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). When you are depressed and oppressed you are not using the joy of the Lord. Oppression and depression do not mix with the joy of the Lord. The joy of the Lord will melt that depression, that despair, destroy them completely when you yield to it.
Righteousness is power. Righteousness destroys the works of the devil, the powers of the devil. Righteousness overcomes evil. When we become instruments of righteousness, we become power for God to use.
Holiness is power, God’s divine holiness. Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
Peace is power. God’s peace gives you strength, great assurance. God’s peace stills the storms. To an angry sea Jesus simply said: Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39). Jesus, as the second Adam, demonstrated all the qualities that make up the power of God.
Goodness is power. One of the nine fruits of the Spirit is goodness. That fruit, the goodness of God, makes one stand up straight. It gives great strength, the strength needed to withstand the devil.
Praise is power, divine praise. Praise the Divine One. Great strength comes in sincere praise of the Lord. Praising God gave the Psalmist strength. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name (Hebrews 13:15). By praising the Lord you are serving Him fruit, blessed fruit, but it must be a holy praise. You must be able to lift up holy hands to the Lord with that praise. If you can’t lift up holy hands with that praise, your praise is just words, just a human praise. Many praise God through the five physical senses, not through the six spiritual senses.
When you praise God in the five physical senses, it only goes as far as your voice will carry. However, when you praise in the six spiritual senses, your praise goes all the way to Heaven instantly through the greatness of those senses.
Endurance is power. The spiritual power of endurance that God gives makes us strong. People build up their bodies through endurance, doing all kinds of exercises to strengthen their muscles. We build spiritual muscles through endurance, also. Endurance brought Stephen to the place he could die a victorious death as the first martyr for the sake of Christ.
Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs are power. Songs of the world may have sentiment and feeling, but none have God’s power. The world’s songs reach the physical senses with nothing but the power of the physical. But spiritual songs, hymns and psalms go beyond man, beyond the power of the human into divinity. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19).
As you praise God in the spiritual senses, that power of praise flows back to you; it returns. Spend time with the Psalms; memorize different ones. Sing the hymns that glorify the Lord and the blood of Jesus, the spiritual songs that tell about the overcoming power of Jesus. All this is power, spiritual food, strength, greatness; it’s supernatural power from On High.
Power from On High is a promise of Jesus. How much do you depend on God’s power? Too often we lean on the human arm, cry because we can’t find anyone to tell our troubles to, those who are able to give only physical sympathy. But God gives more than sympathy: He gives deliverance. Sympathy is not strength, but God’s power is. Man feels he must have answers; and so instead of fasting and praying, seeking God and getting the mind of God, he gives human opinions which often have nothing to do with God’s opinions.
The Word of God is power from On High. The Early Church had all that power. Read about it in the Acts of the Apostles.
Bible prayer is power. When you pray Bible prayers, you are praying in the six spiritual senses and not in the five physical ones. Prayer in the physical sense is nothing more than words. That’s the reason no more prayers are answered than there are. Pray in the spiritual senses; use His wonderful divine faith, His divine love; use the divine smell, the divine taste, the divine hearing, and your prayers will go through.
Have you struggled, begged, pleaded, cried, lost sleep, wasted time by praying in the five physical senses? None of those things were necessary. Much prayer has been wasted because it was not offered through the spiritual senses, and that wasted prayer has hurt people’s faith in God.
Jesus tells us: Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full (John 16:24). Did you ask and not receive? How did you ask? Did you ask with the five physical senses? If you did, you didn’t get an answer. Asking in the physical senses is as different from asking in the spiritual senses as day is from night.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). Ask in the spiritual senses. Abide in the Lord all the time, live in the Lord and you live in the spiritual senses. Nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20). When you abide in the Lord, self has been conquered; Christ liveth in you, and now you can ask with full assurance.
Full assurance is power from On High. When you abide in Him and His promises abide in you, you can speak with definite full assurance, for the Lord hears every word you speak. Only through living in the spiritual senses can you have the promises of God living in you. If you live in the physical senses, God’s promises won’t have the light of Heaven, the strength of Heaven in them for you. Each promise of God contains all the power of Heaven, all the light, all the love, all the greatness and hope.
The Bride Will Walk in God’s Power
As a member of the Bride of Christ, you must learn that the only way you can use God’s promises is through divine spiritual senses. Claiming God’s promises this way will make the Bride powerful beyond even the power in the beginning of the Church. The Bride will live and dine in spiritual Canaan, busily serving the spiritual things. There will be no gossip, no tattling, no whispering, no backbiting. As a part of the Bride, you won’t cause friction or misunderstanding; you will be in one mind, one accord with the true body of Christ. Some people think that not until the Bride is raptured will she be without spot or wrinkle. No, now is the time, saith the Lord, to get rid of all the spots, all the wrinkles, all the blemishes.
The Early Church walked for a number of years without the spots, wrinkles or blemishes. With the Lord they walked hand in hand in power, divine power, because they walked in the six spiritual senses, divine senses. They didn’t use imaginations; they cast them down.
People have lived too much in imaginary worlds, imagining they were all right with God, imagining their prayers were heard, imagining the answers would come. They were waiting upon the Lord, but waiting in the wrong place, waiting in the imaginations of the mind.
You must wait in the spiritual realm to receive Heaven’s results, in the six spiritual senses. The physical senses help direct the care for the body and help the person in doing certain kinds of work. But God’s work needs to be done through, by and with the six spiritual senses. Only then will His work be done in perfection. Don’t try to do His work in the physical senses, for the finished product won’t please Him.
Are You Contented in the Lord?
Trying to do God’s work in the physical senses has made God’s people sad, disappointed, feeling they weren’t really joined to the Lord. The Bible became a book they used to console themselves, but they didn’t really understand it. The Bible is meant to be understood. It is not a book for Heaven, but a book with Heaven’s message for Earth’s people.
In the Holy Ghost you have the great teacher to give you understanding of the Word. How many sessions daily do you give Him? How often do you attend the school of the Holy Ghost and let Him take His teaching position? How often are you quiet and still in His presence knowing that He is God? Are you contented with your life in the Lord?
The Apostle Paul wrote, I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content (Philippians 4:11). If you are discontented, find out why. Is it because you are not really in Him and He in you? Are you not living in the six spiritual senses? There’s a reason for your discontent, and excuses won’t find that reason. Dig down to get to the root of the problem. See if you are rooted and grounded in love. If you are not rooted and grounded in His love, you are not deep in the Scripture, and you are not living in the six spiritual senses. Missing much in this final hour, you will miss more in the future. Those who are consecrated and dedicated to the Lord live in spiritual Canaan.
The things thought impossible by man are possible with God. It’s not what you are that is really important, but what God sees you can be through His power, through His marvelous work of grace. He re-creates and makes people into brand-new creations. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17). The new person acts new, walks and lives in the newness of life. The same power that was given the first Adam is offered the new creature; all that power is for us.
This Is a Separating Hour
We don’t have to listen to the devil, to communicate with him in any way. The Bible tells us to come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (II Corinthians 6:17). Developing close relationships with those who don’t talk right is dangerous. Separate from them. Young people, if you find your friends are frivolous, get away from them. They will contaminate you, spoil what you have in the Lord.
The devil seeks to deceive you, to make you think that if you go places with sinners, you will help win them to the Lord. You never win anyone through compromise. The compromising spirit comes from the devil. There is no compromise in God. Even if your own companion refuses to live for God, don’t compromise. Don’t fuss with your mate; just show love and go on to obey God.
Jesus said, I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left (Luke 17:34-36). Don’t you want to be the one taken?
When you receive the Holy Ghost, it is for the purpose of yielding to and growing in Him as He uses you. Think what power you receive when you are baptized in Him, power to become just like Jesus. In that moment you receive the Holy Ghost, you are yielded to Him soul, mind and body one hundred percent. I doubt you could ever be counted more holy than at that time. If you can be that holy for one moment, why not for the rest of your life?
Whether or not you are changed in a twinkling of an eye will have nothing to do with your companion, your children, your parents or anyone else. The change will come according to the power that worketh within you, divine power. That power has to be carried in your soul, in your spirit. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves (II Corinthians 13:5). If you are busy examining others, you have no time to examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.
Are you really partaking of God’s great power? This power is the faith of God, power from On High. Recognize this power, study it and find out what the power of God is, and how much of it you have.
God’s Word Is Life
The Word is power. It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Man, Jesus said, shall live by every word of power that comes out of the mouth of God. Every word God speaks is a word of power.
The Bride will speak the Word of God through the six spiritual senses. She will use the Word to defeat the devil, to rob the devil of multitudes of souls. Lighting the darkest night with the Gospel, the Bride will show the lost the path of righteousness. How wonderful to be able to shine the light of the Gospel to a lost and dying world! This spiritual light from Heaven, this Gospel light must be carried with the six spiritual senses.
Many who claim to love God do not have the Word of God working in them. Not obeying the Word, they go by their own opinions or the opinions of others. The words of man mean more to them than the Word of God. Without the Word of God, there is no real life.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11). The power of the Word can keep people out of sin, for His words are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:22).
The Word heals: Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions (Psalm 107:19,20). Jesus is the Word…made flesh (John 1:14). Jesus, the Word, healed everyone who came to Him in faith believing, those who recognized Him to be the Christ, no matter their disease or affliction. The devil-possessed were set free. It was wonderful, indeed!
Whether or not you accept this message will determine if you will go into the greatness of God and be all that God wants you to be, saith the Lord.
God’s promises are power, giving all the strength and joy of Heaven. The love of God is in His promises, in each one; and each promise is yours. His Word is His promise. Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12).The word hasten means to look after, to take care of, to watch over. God will see to it that each promise of His is fulfilled. When you have done your part, when you have met the qualifications of holiness and believing, then you wait for the fulfillment.
Treasure the promises of God. They are more valuable than all the jewels on Earth. Caress the promises, watch over them, value them. Wear them daily; never be without them. You should feel naked without God’s promises. They mean life to you, the greatness of Heaven. His promises have claimed many souls for the Kingdom.
Some people will meet the qualifications of the promises, and yet those promises aren’t fulfilled because they have not come into the knowledge of how to use the six spiritual senses as they wait; and so the Lord can’t move for them. To do His greatness, the Lord works with His faith, not man’s, not physical faith. He works with His divine spiritual senses: divine faith, divine touch, divine hearing, divine sight, divine taste, divine smelling.
Give yourself over to God; become a member of the family of God. You will have no more eternal life in Heaven than you have right now—if you have Jesus in your heart. You cannot add anything to that which is eternal.
The Devil Is a Robber
Jesus knew that the devil is a robber; He knew that God’s people would be robbed again and again. In fact, the devil tried to rob Jesus. He offered Him all the kingdoms of the world; he offered Jesus power he didn’t have to give. Jesus knew the devil when he was good; Jesus knew him when he sinned, and Jesus knew him when he was cast out of Heaven. I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven, Jesus said (Luke 10:18). Jesus knew who the devil was.
Jesus as the second Adam gave Himself into the hands of the devil in all the weakness that we would experience at his hands, and showed us how to defeat him with the Word of God, with what is written. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God…Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve…And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season (Luke 4:4,8,12,13). Never do anything the devil tells you to do. You don’t have to prove anything to the devil; Jesus made that clear. Just prove to be a good servant of God, and God will be pleased.
Jesus Serves Us Reality
The Lord has promised to make every one of His true children witnesses and soul winners. In the beginning of the Church, everyone who yielded to God was a soul winner. After the Resurrection, the Lord stayed with them forty days, teaching them; and it was wonderful how they were able to receive the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost! They had seen Jesus crucified—some watched from a distance. They knew He was dead and buried, and then could hardly contain their overwhelming joy when they realized He had been resurrected. It was reality. They saw the empty tomb, the nail prints in His hands, His feet and the spear wound in His side. They talked to Him, ate with Him. He was the same Jesus, only now with a glorified body. It left them with no doubts.
When you have no doubts whatsoever about God and the promises, the greatness, power and the reality of Him, you have everything you need for God to move with you in whatever way He wants. Jesus serves us reality just like He served it to the Early Church. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (II Corinthians 3:17). Where the liberty of the Spirit is, signs, wonders, miracles and healings take place.
Every promise in the Bible comes into fulfillment for the Bride as she uses the six spiritual senses. The Lord said that no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11). When you love and serve the Lord with all your heart, walking in the steps of Jesus, you realize Christ lives in you because it’s a life you couldn’t live without Him. You have given your life to Him as a temple, and you are letting the second Adam live through you in grace and love and power. What a life of reality, power and greatness it is! To come into all of this, to claim all the promises is wonderful.
How many of God’s promises have you really claimed? How many of the promises work for you? How many have you tried to claim that seemed to be dead? It isn’t the promises that are dead; the deadness is in you, spiritual deadness. God’s promises live always, the divine promises; but they live only through a divine life; they do not live through physical life. Claim God’s promises through divinity, and you can use them for the physical body, for the physical sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste. Divinity must be flowing from each promise—life for the body, and life for the soul and spirit.
Jesus said, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25). Jesus is life, and He came to Earth to give that life to you, abundant life, greater life than man has ever had. He offers greater life than Adam and Eve had in the Garden. Jesus came to give life that will save lost humanity, make them into new creations; He brought a healing touch people can use in His name to bring healing to the sick and afflicted. Jesus brought abundant life. He said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Jesus really is the life giver.
The blood of Jesus is power, power. All the power of Heaven is in the blood. No divine power operates outside the blood. The life is in the blood. The life of God is in divine blood; the life of Christ is in divine blood; the life of the Holy Spirit is in divine blood. What can wash away your sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Power, power, wonder-working power is in the blood of the Lamb.
With the help of the devil, man built a wall between himself and God, shutting himself out of God’s presence. God left him alone. If you don’t want to be close to God, He doesn’t want to be close to you. If you don’t want fellowship with God, He doesn’t want fellowship with you. If you don’t want to walk hand in hand with Him, He doesn’t want to walk with you. If you don’t want His Heaven, He doesn’t want you up there; it’s just that simple. But if you want that closeness to the Lord, you can have it through the blood.
But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13). That blood power makes us nigh to the Lord, tears down the wall between us and our God. We are so nigh to Jesus that one more step would plant us on the shores of deliverance in Heaven, but we can never reach Heaven through the five physical senses; it takes divinity to put us there.
Taken to Heaven in a Chariot of Fire
Divinity took Elijah to Heaven; a whirlwind of power caught him up as he was walking with Elisha: And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven (II Kings 2:11). By the power of God, Elijah was caught up. Had it been a physical whirlwind, Elijah would never have left Earth. He was taken up by spiritual whirlwind power.
The sons of the prophets didn’t have the spiritual senses, and they thought Elijah must have been dropped somewhere and was crying for help. They came to Elisha and they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the spirit of the Lord hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send. And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not. And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not (II Kings 2:16-18)? Elisha used the six spiritual senses; the sons of the prophets the five physical ones. For three days and nights they looked for Elijah, but they didn’t find him. Elijah was in Heaven with the Lord.
The devil can deceive you when you operate only in the five physical senses. You can exhaust yourself over nothing. But when you use the spiritual senses, the devil is not able to trick you or defeat you.
Power to Win the Lost
Living water is power. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) (John 7:38,39). Jesus told the disciples that after they received power from On High—the baptism of the Holy Ghost—rivers of living water would flow from their innermost being.
We are in a mighty place with God, a place of rivers of living waters flowing. Many years ago I saw the rockets of miracle power going forth from this place and striking the nations. Souls with no way to number them were coming to God.
In winning souls, you must wear the love bridle day and night. Idle words—no more. You’re the keeper of your mouth, keeper of your soul, keeper of the Holy Spirit within, and the keeper of the six spiritual senses.
Your mouth will justify you or damn you. Your mouth will cripple you or give you great power and strength to use against the devil in this final hour. You must not hurt people with words like arrows and darts; you must speak the truth in love. No guile was found in the mouth of Jesus, and you are to be like Jesus.
The Gospel light is power over all darkness. The Gospel light has the strength over all the powers of evil. When you use this power, you can penetrate the darkest night and the darkest soul that has ever sinned against God. That light shines on the path for the poor sinner if he will accept it. In this final hour everyone will see, one time or another, the light of the Gospel; and they will either turn it on or turn it off forever. The Gospel light is a mighty power over all sin.
Salvation is power, and it’s all yours, redeeming power. In Old Testament days, animals were killed in an effort to generate enough power to satisfy God—and it never did. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins (Hebrews 10:4). The sacrifice of animals did not please God: Burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law (Hebrews 10:8). Only sinless blood did God find acceptable.
Salvation is through the spiritual senses. Through the spiritual senses at the moment you were saved, you had to believe you were saved, or salvation wouldn’t have been yours. With salvation in your heart you are a member of the family of God. When the Lord looks into your soul, He sees it has been sealed by the Holy Spirit, the blood seal. In the blood of the Lamb, your soul has been made perfect.
You can’t have the things of God, you can’t accept Jesus without using the spiritual senses. To receive salvation and to go on to receive the Holy Ghost, you used spiritual senses. But if you didn’t continue to use them, you fell back into the physical senses, and there you were: You had your salvation, but you were defeated again and again in your Christian walk because you depended on the physical senses. You tried to work things out for yourself rather than allowing God to direct you. He would have taken that burden that was too heavy for your shoulders, a burden that didn’t edify your life but weakened it.
Some of you ruined much of your life by trying to carry unnecessary burdens, trying to carry burdens Jesus said to bring to Him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).
The six spiritual senses give you wisdom and knowledge of what to unload and what to keep. What are your burdens? The main burden for you today is the burden of lost humanity. It’s the burden the Lord wants you to carry. He is willing to do anything and all things for you if you are consecrated, dedicated and truly carrying the burden He lays on your heart as you cry the tears of Calvary for the lost.
Compassion, Heaven’s compassion is power. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick (Matthew 14:14). With compassion that miracle healing power flowed through Jesus. More than one place in the Bible we read that Jesus healed because of compassion.
You are given Calvary’s compassion to cry tears of power, and those tears are of the spiritual senses. Tears of the five physical senses are nothing but salt and water; but in the tears of Calvary, no salt, only spiritual water and the power of God. Through the grace of God we are able as human beings to shed the tears of Calvary, the same tears Jesus shed on the Cross. His tears, divine tears, are our tears. Divine blood cried out on the Cross, divine blood was spilled with Heaven’s cry, Heaven’s love for lost humanity. Oh God, we love you today!
The Soul Comes from God
The soul is like a reservoir in which you store God’s greatness. There is no limit to what the soul can hold. It can hold all the Godhead, all of Heaven because the soul came from God. The soul is the only part of you that is absolutely divine; it’s a part of God. It acted just like God; responded like Him, talked like Him, loved like Him, had the same peace of God when it was in the first Adam and Eve.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness (Genesis 1:26). Man was made in the image of God. Then tragedy: The image of God was marred by sin, destroyed in the soul of man. Think of it—a part of God was destroyed! Why did God give Jesus, such a part of Himself, to redeem the souls of mankind? It was to restore the image of God in the souls of mankind. When the soul is dead within you, a part of God is dead to you. God gave His only Begotten Son to resurrect the souls of mankind from sin, degradation, darkness to light, from bondage to freedom. What a Jesus! Think of what He suffered to bring all His power, all His greatness to us!
How unnecessary the sacrifice on the Cross would have been had Adam and Eve never sinned! Not one part of God could the devil ever have had. The devil gloats over every soul he can get to sin, over every soul cast into hell. The devil hates God, and he hates the souls of mankind that are a part of God. But there is life for each soul that will respond to God before it’s too late. How wonderful to have God’s salvation!
The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry (Psalm 34:15). Thousands of years ago, God came down to Earth to walk and talk with Enoch. In one man God found the perfect soul, a soul that yielded, a soul with the image of God. And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him (Genesis 5:24). By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God (Hebrews 11:5). That’s how much the Lord thinks of a soul in the image of Himself. A soul in that image is pure, clean, holy.
Not a speck of contamination, not a bit of sin is in the soul of a person who is born again. Divine blood has made it possible for the soul to be re-created, changed back into the image of God.
If you have Jesus in your heart, if you have the power of salvation working there—how wonderful to know you are in the image of God! He looks at you and says, That’s my son! That’s my daughter!
God is ready to minister to His sons and daughters for time and all eternity. Why would you doubt His love? Because you use human love, and judge God accordingly. If you use physical love, you judge Him by the physical love of human beings. The kind of love you use depends on how much you trust God. When you look at God through divine love, you know He cares always, you know all His promises are for you. You know Jesus made a way out for you, that He conquered death, hell and the grave, and that no power can keep you in the grave if you die in the Lord. You have the promise of God that you will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (I Corinthians 15:52).
The Spirit that will change your body in the Rapture will use the same changing power that brought salvation and changed your soul from darkness to light, from bondage to freedom. Jesus brought the same power for the whole person, soul, mind and body; it is not a different power—it’s the same.
In the Rapture, no longer will you have a physical body; it will be a spiritual body. Instantly you will take on a glorified body like Christ’s.
After Jesus was resurrected and before He ascended back to Heaven to take on His glorified body, He told Mary Magdalene, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God (John 20:17). In Heaven Jesus offered His divine blood on the altar of God. He offered it for our salvation. Then He returned to Earth to show man what marvelous delivering power was available. Feel me, touch me, believe me through the six spiritual senses now and forevermore, He is saying. Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing (John 20:27).
How proud the Lord is of His true children when He looks and sees His image! Looking on souls of those who are born again is like looking in a mirror; He sees righteousness, holiness, godliness. He sees love, peace, hope eternal. He sees His face in the mirror, His image, a figure who looks just like Him. God looked at Jesus and saw that Jesus looked just like Him. Now He looks at you, and you are just like His Son, you are like Him. How wonderful to be in the image of the Lord!
What place does God have in your life? You will not make it with God in this final hour unless you face the truth of the Word about self. What manner of person are you? Some look into the Word of God, and for the moment His love rises up, but then they turn back and go in the way of self, not thinking they must keep yielding to God to be in His image. They pray, get the victory for a little while; but it’s a short-lived victory. You can’t put self ahead of God in this final hour, or else God will leave you in the wilderness, saith the Lord.
Speak the love language only; keep it; be careful with it and don’t let it get away. Don’t be deceived about the spirit you carry. Some claim they resent no one, but the resentment in their voice contradicts their statement. They say they don’t have anger, but anger is in their voice.
The Lord blames you alone for your sins, not someone else; you will have to stand alone before God. Adam and Eve fell into sin. When the Lord confronted them, Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent. They were not excused.
The Lord Is Drawing You to Himself
God is moving with His children in a spiritual Canaan by leaps and bounds, soaring with them higher than the eagles. From mountain to mountain He is leaping with the Word of God, from great knowledge to greater knowledge—Heaven’s knowledge. We read in the Song of Solomon that the Bride is saying, Draw me, we will run after thee (Song of Solomon 1:4). The voice of my beloved! behold, he cometh leaping upon the mountains, skipping upon the hills (Song of Solomon 2:8). The Groom is saying to the Bride: Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee (Song of Solomon 4:7).
The Lord loves you with an everlasting love. Oh how He loves you today! Let Him draw you into His arms of love, grace and compassion. Yield to His drawing, oh Child of God. With great compassion the Lord seeks to give you understanding, to lead you on into His greatness. He needs you to help bring in His harvest, but His plan must be worked through His power and no other way.
Feel the closeness of Him now. He is here to do you good, to give you all you need. Reach out. He has placed Himself within your reach. His Spirit crieth for you to receive from Him so He can work through you as He has never been able to work through you in the past. This is your hour of revelation; this is your hour of visitation as God’s great power is pouring out from On High to a lost and dying world. Power, power, God’s great power is offered to all through the blood of Jesus. Learn what the power of God really is; learn how to use it daily, and daily you will be a soul-winner, living the victorious Jesus life.
