Mountains, Mountains and More Mountains
by Ernest Angley

Life is full of mountains, and many of you are closed in with your most difficult mountain of all. God has moved other mountains for you, but this one doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. It may be a mountain of depression, loneliness or financial trouble. It may be a mountain of sickness or doubt. Perhaps you cannot seem to believe day after day that you are really saved or that you have the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Perhaps you find it hard to believe you can receive a miracle or a healing for yourself or for a family member, and there just doesn’t seem to be a way out.
This message will show you the way to get those mountains moved. At one time, I was hemmed in with mountains; but through God, they are now gone. I want to help you get yours moved too, so you can be a greater testimony for the Lord; and He can use you in a greater way to bring joy and gladness to others.
As you look to Jesus today, ask yourself, “What is the hardest thing to overcome in my life right now?” If you don’t get rid of it, it will be a great burden and hinder you for the rest of your journey here on Earth. Then you won’t be able to run the race the Lord wants you to with gladness of heart and plenty of strength, and you won’t make it without those things.
I am determined to have God’s joy and gladness every day of my life and to do His work through His joy and strength. I have found the secret hiding place in the Lord which many people have been in search of for so many years, and you must find it too. The Bible speaks of that secret place. He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalm 91:1). You may have thought you already found that secret place; but when you do, your mountain will no longer be there.
It is terrible to be nervous, depressed and feel burdened about everything. When you have fear about something, that burden is from the enemy. You are afraid something awful is about to happen, so you are always jittery and upset. Every time the phone rings, you think someone has died or that some sort of tragedy has taken place; and that is not the path the Lord wants you to follow in this last hour.
You Must Have Power from On High
Let’s examine some people in the Bible who had to find the secret place of the Most High because they were closed in with mountains of doubt and unbelief, and they were hindered in doing the work of God.
A father had taken his son who was vexed with devils to the disciples for deliverance, but they could not help him; so the man went on to Jesus. And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him [Jesus], and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him (Matthew 17:14-16).
The disciples didn’t have the power they needed to cast out those devils, but Jesus did. He rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour (Matthew 17:18).
The disciples waited until the man had gone away before asking Jesus, Why could not we cast him [the devil] out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you (Matthew 17:19,20). He let them have it, didn’t He? You too must ask yourself, “Why don’t I have more power with God?”
Jesus was trying to show the disciples what faith would do. The mountain in this account was a mountain of demon possession. The boy was devil possessed, and the disciples didn’t know why they couldn’t move that mountain for that father. Jesus let them know it was because of their unbelief.
If you have divine faith, you can say to your mountains, “Be thou removed”; and they will move. Jesus said, Have faith in God (Mark 11:22). He then went on to say, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them (Mark 11:24). When you don’t have the faith and power to bring about the deliverance you need, you can’t live the victorious life the Lord has promised you.
The Lord Is Nigh
Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). But so many Christians do not have that abundant life. They do not have the divine joy and gladness that are flowing like mighty rivers to children of God today, so they are easily defeated; and they let everything bother them.
You must allow the power of the Holy Spirit to operate within you and elevate you into the realm of the miraculous power of God. When adverse circumstances surround you, just reach up; and you will feel the touch of the Master’s hand.
In this final hour, the Lord wants to be real to every one of His children because we are a part of His Bride; and His revelations are flowing out to us like mighty rivers. Times are quickly changing in the world, but things are also changing spiritually. The Holy Spirit is working like He has never worked before, and God is drawing closer to His people than ever before.
Some of you think of the Lord as being afar off, so you pray and yell trying to reach Him way up there in Heaven. You act as if there is a mountain between you and God when the Lord promised to walk with you and always be by your side. If you are baptized in the Holy Ghost, the third person in the Trinity of the Godhead lives inside you; so you have an instant connection with Heaven all the time.
This is the hour of God’s greatness being poured out, and He is opening the doors in your life; but you have to be aware of it. When you are, His greatness will be yours; and no mountain will be able to stand in your way.
God was not pouring out His greatness in the same way when Daniel was thrown into the lions’ den, yet those lions had lockjaw through God’s power. God was not pouring out His greatness in the same way when the Hebrew boys were thrown into the fiery furnace, yet not even one hair on their heads was singed. The ways of God are marvelous!
No Troubles in the Prayer Closet
God didn’t intend for us to struggle and battle in prayer. We will have our gardens of Gethsemane, but God didn’t intend for us to live there. Remember that when Jesus stood before Lazarus’ sepulcher, He talked to God in just a few words so the people standing by might know that the Father always heard Him. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me (John 11:41,42).
Jesus came to give you the same relationship He has with His Father and yours. As a child of God, that is your birthright; but some of you haven’t claimed it. You think you have to go into the prayer chamber and battle demons and devils, so it is no wonder you hate to be there. When I go into my prayer closet, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are already there. I don’t have to beg and wait for them to arrive, and no one can cut off that connection. The Holy Spirit puts my call through to Heaven, and all I have to do is use the faith of God. It is so simple.
Some of you take all your troubles with you into your prayer closet and sort through them when the Bible says, Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you (I Peter 5:7). Instead of giving your burdens to Jesus, you decide which ones you will give to Him and which ones you will keep. Then you don’t receive the answers you need, and you come out of your prayer closet feeling worse than when you went in; and that should not be. Instead of spending time in God’s presence, you spent time with your troubles.
What if the Lord would ask you like He did Elijah, What doest thou here, Elijah (I Kings 19:9)? Would you have about the same story that Elijah did? And he [Elijah] said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away (I Kings 19:10).
Sometimes you can be in the prayer chamber and under such a heavy load that you feel like you are the only one left serving the Lord. Then you may say as Elijah did, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers (I Kings 19:4). That is really being in a pit of despair. What if the Lord had granted Elijah’s request? He would not have had that glorious experience of being raptured; and if the Lord were to grant your request, you would not be able to look forward to that glorious experience either.
Use Your Gift of Faith
Faith is a gift from God. It is as pure as God Himself, and it really works because it is divine. It is the faith that spoke the Universe into existence, made man out of the dust of the Earth and then put life into him. It is the faith that protected Noah and his family, closed the lions’ mouths for Daniel in the lions’ den and quenched the violence of fire for the Hebrew boys when they were thrown into the fiery furnace. God’s faith brought Simon Peter out of jail and made people well when Peter’s shadow covered them.
The Bible says, God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3); and you will find the gift of God’s faith in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. No one could ever come to the Lord and be saved without His gift of faith because sinners cannot come to the altar of God without using their measure of faith.
No one can receive the baptism in the Spirit without using God’s faith either. Some people keep waiting to get the faith to receive instead of reaching up for another measure so they can be baptized. Everything you need is on the table of the Lord, and that includes deliverance from the hardest thing in your life.
You must cover the mountain you are facing with the Word of God. That means it is under the blood and in God’s powerful hands, and it is never to be uncovered again. You can put your Bible on top of a piece of paper; and the only way you will see that paper again is to take the Word off of it. It is the same with your mountain—if you cover it with God’s Word in faith and with no doubt, He will take care of it.
Faith Through Fasting
Jesus said, Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). One way you can increase your faith is through fasting, and the result will be top-of-the-mountain faith. Fasting is not easy, and it is much more than just going without food. It is an occasion when you must spend extra time with the Lord; and the more time you give to God, the more He will feed your soul.
Some of you are so hemmed in by mountains that you have become weak. You think it will do no good to pray because you feel that your prayers are not getting anywhere. You need to back up those prayers with fasting, and then pray them again after the fast is over.
Don’t worry if you don’t see results while you are fasting; but when the fast is over—especially if it is forty days and nights—close the door on your problems completely. You can’t even leave the door cracked. You must know without a shadow of a doubt that the divine will of God will be done. Don’t look at your problems through your five senses or try to reason things out within yourself. You must depend completely on God. He is your supply and your source of help.
Give God Your Problems
How do you feel about God? Are you afraid of Him, or are you wrapped up in His love? He loves you so much that He gave His Only Begotten Son for you. Jesus brought deliverance for the whole person, soul, mind and body; and that deliverance is yours if you will accept it. However, so many of you look at your problems and battle with them rather than looking to God. He is the one who can solve them, so God must take first place in your mind; and your problems must become secondary. Then your mind will be elevated into the realm of God’s greatness, and it will be so simple for God to move upon you and help you.
People talk about being a slave to alcohol, cigarettes, drugs or other bad habits; but the devil has made many children of God to be slaves to their problems. The Apostle Paul learned the secret of overcoming his problems, and that is why he let nothing hinder him.
When Nero was about to cut off Paul’s head, Paul was looking to the Lord; and he was ready to go. He wrote to Timothy and said, For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing (II Timothy 4:6-8).
Could you have said that if you were about to have your head cut off? Would you have been looking at what was about to happen or looking to God and rejoicing in His greatness?
Don’t Look at Your Problems
Peter also learned the secret of looking to Jesus in times of tribulation. King Herod had put him in jail, and he was going to be killed. At night, he was chained and had a guard on each side of him; yet he was fast asleep. Why?—because Peter wasn’t looking at his problem; he was looking to the Lord.
What would you have done in Peter’s position? Some of you would have been crying, “Oh, Lord, forgive me of all my shortcomings. Oh, God, please let me know that I’m saved!” That is a late date to be finding out when you are about to be murdered. As long as you fail to look at God as the source of your help, you will be looking at your problem; but when you finally decide to look at your divine Helper, you will lose sight of your problem because God is so big and powerful. In fact, it will become so small that you would need a magnifying glass to find it because you will be filled with the glory and the faith of God; and you will see as God sees.
You must ask yourself, “What is God able to do?” You may say the Lord can do anything, but then why are you sitting there with a mountain that looks to be 10,000 miles high? Turn it over to God; and suddenly, it will look like an anthill.
Some of you are not dealing with your problems God’s way, but you can; and you must if you really want to get rid of them. Some of you cry over your problems and let them ruin your health, but why do you do that when you can just bundle them up and take them to Jesus? He said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).
The Psalmist found that God was his help, and that is why he praised God so much while other people did not. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD (Psalm 121:1,2). I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust (Psalm 91:2). Instead of focusing on his problems, the Psalmist glorified the Lord and praised Him for how good He is.
David Did Not Look at Goliath
When the Philistines brought the giant Goliath to fight against Israel, the Israelite soldiers looked at Goliath rather than God. The Philistines were on one mountain, and the Israelites were on another; and Goliath stood in the valley between them saying, Choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me (I Samuel 17:8).
When young David came along to see his brothers and watch the battle, he saw only God; and he said, Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God (I Samuel 17:26)? The soldiers were all shaking with fear, but not David. He looked down on that giant as if he were nothing.
King Saul found out what David had said, and he called for him; but when he saw he was just a boy, he said, David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God (I Samuel 17:33-36).
David was in the habit of looking at God rather than at his problems, but some of you are always looking at Goliath; and you walk around scared half to death. Then the devil plays on your imagination and amplifies everything about the situation until it becomes a huge mountain. Then you are in deep trouble.
When Jesus came, He put all of our problems below us. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us—hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4,6). When you are in a heavenly place with the Lord, you are above your problems; but it all depends on how you look at them.
If you look at them with eyes of faith, you have it made; but if you don’t, you will be defeated.
David had eyes of faith, and he defeated that giant with just a slingshot and one stone. So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him (I Samuel 17:50).
Don’t Listen to Deceit
Do you see your problem as a lion today, and does it make you tremble in fear? The Bible says, The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets (Proverbs 26:13). That old lion may be roaring loudly, and the devil may be making you think you are going to be destroyed. He tells you that your problem cannot be solved and that you cannot have the miracle or deliverance you need, but the devil is a liar. The Lord promised, All things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).
So many of children of God today have minds that are disturbed by mental devils, but that shouldn’t be. The devil deceives people and makes them think that has to be, and that is why the Lord told me to tell people that their greatest battles in this final hour will be the battles of the mind. That is why we all have to let the Lord elevate us into His miraculous realm where the devil can’t torment our minds. We can call Him at any time, and He will be there right away.
How much do you weigh in the Lord? How much are you growing in Him? If someone would ask you what your physical weight is, most of you would know; but do you know what you weigh spiritually? You must weigh yourself on God’s scales and see if you are gaining weight in the Lord. You must weigh yourself in all honesty and humility saying, “Lord, I really want to know what I weigh in you. If it takes another fast, I’m ready. If it takes more hours of living in the Word, I’m ready. If it takes more meditation in your presence, I’m ready.” It is a delight to be in the presence of the Lord when self is completely crucified, and you must get to that place.
Find the Source of Your Problem
A doctor can help you more when he knows the source of your trouble, and you have to spend time with the Lord to be able to find the source of your trouble in receiving from Him. You have to become your own physician, and the Lord has given you the tools you need to do that—His wonderful Word, power, knowledge, Spirit and anointing.
The Lord wants to reveal to you any hindrances you may have and give you His knowledge and wisdom; all you have to do is ask. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5).
Whatever you lack, you can ask of the Lord. Just humble yourself before Him in His holy presence. He is your source, and you must automatically look to Him. You have to let the Lord elevate you into His realm in this final hour because there is a great walk waiting for you.
You can find the reality of God in the lives of a few people scattered throughout the Old Testament; but when the Holy Ghost came on the scene in the New Testament, everything changed. The Holy Spirit had moved in to tabernacle with those who would receive Him, and He brought great reality and revelations.
Yield to the Holy Spirit
When you are born again and cleansed through the precious blood of Jesus, He moves into your heart and your life; and He is there every day. When you go on to receive the baptism in the Spirit, He moves in to dwell with you in that most holy place in your soul. When you yield to Him, He gives Himself so completely to you that it brings healing for the whole person.
You must look to the Holy Spirit and draw on Him every day. He is drawing on you, but so many of you don’t realize it; and that makes you doubt. You struggle along saying, “Lord, help me,” instead of saying, “Lord, I am going to draw on you.” The Lord doesn’t want you to battle and battle all the time. This end-time journey is such a glorious time that it should be like a whole new world to you.
In the past, children of God had to struggle and battle to move their mountains; but now it is so simple because there is more and more of the Spirit being made available every day. Are you going to continue looking at your problems? You have to get rid of that mountain, that hardest thing in your life. You have to cover it with the Word, the blood of Jesus and the promises of God no matter what it is. There is a promise in the Word for anything you will ever need.
The Lord must be your source of power, and you must plug in to Him every day just as you would plug in your vacuum cleaner or hair dryer. Earth’s knowledge tells you how to plug things in, and you must now accept the knowledge of Heaven. That is the only way you will be able to walk the paths the Lord has ordained for you. Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path (Psalm 27:11).
Get Rid of Your Mountains of Sin
If you want to be able to conquer all the mountains in your life, you must first accept Jesus into your heart. You may claim to be saved; but if you are not living free from all sin today, you are not saved. The Bible says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4).
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve died spiritually when they sinned against God just as He had said they would. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:16,17).
The Lord is very strict; and He said, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16). Jesus said, Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48). That perfection means living free from all sin, and Jesus brought divinity so you can do that. You can do anything the Bible tells you to if you are willing.
If you are not saved today, lift up your hands right now and say this prayer: Oh, God, I am lost and in the night. Help me to use that measure of faith to bring me into your light. I am so sorry that I have sinned against you, but I have come home never to stray away from you again. Forgive me, Lord, for all of my sins. I believe you died for me, and I am going to live for you. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in! If you meant that prayer, you can say, Hallelujah, Jesus is mine!
Jesus Moves Mountains of Sickness
Now, you can be healed. Jesus even healed sinners; but then He told them, Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:14). You cannot expect to keep your healing if you continue to live in sin. God must have the glory for all of His miracles.
Lord, I bring the people to you. Many of them will soon be dead unless you heal them. Lord, don’t let them go through another night of sickness and pain. When I was so sick, I suffered through nights when I prayed for you to let the dawn come early so I could get some relief. Then one night, you came and healed me completely. The sunshine of Heaven came before midnight that night. Jesus, you were there, and you healed me all over; and you can do it for these people today.
Through the divine blood of Jesus Christ, I back death off of these people; and I call life to their bodies. Heal them now of AIDS, cancer, heart trouble, diabetes or any other disease or affliction they may have. Heal! in the blood name of Jesus!
Now, get well and give the Lord all the glory. Then let us know what God did for you. You can write, email or leave a message on social media. We look forward to hearing the miraculous news from you. God bless.
