Let The Resurrection Power Change Your Life
by Steve Millar

What is resurrection power? It is divine power from God that can bring life to something that is dead. The devil has power, but he doesn’t have Resurrection power. The same Resurrection power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is working in the lives of true believers today, and that power can only work through the blood of Jesus and the supernatural power of the Holy Ghost.
Resurrection power is available not only for your soul but also for your mind and body, yet so many people do not recognize the Resurrection power that is available to them. They believe miracles are not for today, and no one can live free from sin.
Resurrection power can deliver you from both sin and sickness, and there is no limit to what that power can do because it has all the backing from Heaven. Resurrection power is only limited in your life if you give in to doubt and fear. The whole purpose of Jesus coming to Earth from Heaven and sacrificing Himself was so that we could have deliverance through His resurrection power, so why wouldn’t it be available to us through the Holy Spirit?
The devil wants you to think you have to be stuck in the bondage of sin and that there is no hope for your life. He wants you to keep walking down the same path of sin because his main objective is for you to miss the Rapture and Heaven, too.
Examine the Prodigal Son
The devil is no respecter of persons. He will prey on any soul, especially the young, and try to get them to go astray. He tries to convince them that they are missing out on the pleasures of this world and that the grass is greener on the other side, so to speak.
Jesus tells a story about the prodigal son in Luke 15. A certain man had two sons; and the younger one went to his father and asked for part of his inheritance, which the father gave him. Not many days later, the young son gathered up all his belongings and took a journey to a faraway country where he started spending his inheritance on riotous living.
Take note that what that son did is a typical move of the devil. He wants to deceive people and draw them away from those who are living right so he can entice them with the pleasures of this world.
The Bible doesn’t say the father tried to stop his son or forbid him from going away just as our heavenly Father doesn’t stop us from making wrong choices. We all are free moral agents, and each one of us is responsible for the choices we make in life. The father could have forced his son to stay and refused to give him his portion of the inheritance, but he knew his son would resent him; so it was a lose-lose situation.
I Was Once a Prodigal Son
Years ago after I had graduated from college, I had an opportunity to move to Los Angeles, California. My mom was sobbing as I packed up my car and got ready to leave because she didn’t want me to go. She thought I was making a big mistake, but I was a young adult; and I wanted to do things my way. I wanted to experience life on my own, and my mom knew she couldn’t stop me.
As we were standing by the car saying our goodbyes, I said, “Mom, if you live my life, whose life am I going to live?” That was a terrible way to say goodbye, but I was a sinner at the time; and I wasn’t under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
So I went to Los Angeles with my friend, and everything was going well; but I had a strong longing to go back to Ohio. Somehow, I knew in my heart that I didn’t want to meet a girl and form a relationship in California. I knew my future wife was in Ohio; so after spending six months in California, I decided to make the journey back to Ohio. It wasn’t long after I returned that I met the girl who would later become my wife. God had her marked for me, and He had given me that longing to return home.
The devil wanted me to get as far away as possible from God’s plan for my life, but I praise God that He was able to deal with me and bring me back home. Now, I’m living the life God wants me to live, and I’m helping spread the Gospel to the whole world with my Grace Cathedral family.
The Prodigal Returns
I believe the prodigal son’s father knew his son was going to leave with or without his blessing, so he had to let him go and trust that God was going to bring him back. You may have a loved one who has left the safety of God’s home and has gone out into the world of sin, but always remember that the Lord is doing everything He can to bring that person back.
The Bible says, Turn, O backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you (Jeremiah 3:14). God is a patient God, and He knows how to deal with each soul. A person may have to hit rock bottom before he is willing to return to the Lord, but it is worth it if he gives his heart and soul back to God.
The prodigal son was one who had to hit rock bottom before he was finally willing to face himself for who he really was and admit he was lost. After he had spent all of his money, there was a great famine; and he found himself poor, hungry and all alone in a strange land. I’m sure he had plenty of friends when he had money, but all those so-called friends disappeared when his money ran out.
The young man was so hungry that he was willing to eat food meant for the swine. He went from eating at his father’s table to eating with the pigs, and that was exactly what the devil wanted. Still today, he wants you to give up your banquet table filled with wonderful, spiritual food and eat garbage.
Finally, the prodigal son decided to go back to his father’s house and become a servant because he knew he would at least have food to eat. He was also going to confess the sins he had committed against his father and against Heaven. When he took that first step towards Resurrection power, the devil began losing his hold on him.
Every step that young man took towards home brought him closer and closer to his deliverance; and when he finally arrived, his father was there to greet him with open arms. The prodigal son no longer thought he was worthy to be called his father’s son, but his father forgave him and restored him back to his place.
A Backslider Comes Home
When you accept Christ’s resurrection power of salvation for your soul, God forgives you of all your past sins; and He will never remember them against you. Even though you may not feel worthy of His forgiveness because of all the things you have done while you were living in sin, God doesn’t look on your past; He looks on your heart. For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart (I Samuel 16:7).
When the prodigal son was on his way home, his father saw him when he was still a far way off. Why?—because his father had never given up hope of his son returning, so he was always watching for him. The Bible says, His father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him (Luke 15:20).
All the father wanted to do was show his son love. When his son confessed that he had sinned against his father and Heaven, the father was quick to forgive him just like our heavenly Father will always forgive an honest-hearted sinner. The father not only forgave his son, he gave him the best robe, a ring and shoes; and he celebrated by killing a fatted calf. Our heavenly Father will always bless His children in a great way, too.
Rejoice over Souls
When a soul becomes born again, the angels in Heaven celebrate. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth (Luke 15:10). The prodigal son’s father was very happy he had returned home, but not everybody was. The older son resented the fact that his father had received his brother back and was celebrating. The father tried to reason with that son by saying, It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found (Luke 15:32). The younger son was resurrected from a life of sin to a life full of love and grace. He was no longer lost and wandering aimlessly in this dark world of sin.
Jesus conquered death, hell and the grave for us; and it is through the blood of Jesus and the Resurrection power that you can be made a brand-new creature in Christ. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17).
Jesus Was Resurrected
On the third day after Jesus had been crucified, He was resurrected. A great earthquake shook the place, and an angel rolled back the stone from the entrance of the tomb. Then Jesus walked out. He was raised from the dead through the Resurrection power in His life.
Jesus had told people earlier, Destroy this temple [His body], and in three days I will raise it up (John 2:19). The sad thing is that people did not believe in the Resurrection power, and that is because they were using man’s thoughts instead of God’s thoughts. They limited their understanding by thinking that Jesus was speaking of the temple in Jerusalem that had taken 46 years to build. They had no idea He was speaking of His own body, and they did not consider the possibility of Jesus being resurrected from the dead.
Jesus said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God (Luke 18:27). Jesus let the disciples know before He ascended into Heaven that they could have the same power He had through the Holy Ghost. Then through Resurrection power, Jesus was taken up in a cloud into Heaven; and the people at that time couldn’t see Him anymore. While they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight (Acts 1:9).
You Must Have the Holy Ghost
Earlier, Jesus had let the disciples know that He must depart from the Earth so the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, could come. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you (John 16:7).
About 120 people went to the Upper Room and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1,2,4).
It is very important to receive the Holy Ghost because He is the one who will guide you and teach you, and He will be your Comforter in time of need. The Holy Ghost will draw souls to you so you can witness to them and lead them to the Resurrection power that will set them free from the bondage of sin. Then they can go on to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost so they can make the one flight out.
Resurrection Power Can Be Yours
Do you believe in Resurrection power for your life? Do you even believe that it exists? The Bible says, But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord (I Thessalonians 4:13-17).
Resurrection power will open the graves of those who have died in Christ, and they will rise to meet Jesus in the air. Then all of us who are full of the Holy Ghost will also rise to meet Jesus in the air. That may sound impossible to you, but it’s true.
Will you be ready when the trumpet of the Lord sounds? Jesus is only coming back for a Bride who is without spot, wrinkle or blemish; and each member of the bridal company must be filled with the power of the Holy Ghost so they can be changed in a twinkling of an eye. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27). In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (I Corinthians 15:52).
Come Back Home
If you think you don’t need the baptism of the Holy Ghost with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance, then you are denying the Resurrection power for your life; and that is dangerous. It will be too late to receive the Holy Ghost once the trumpet sounds and all the Holy Ghost-filled saints are raptured. You need to put everything aside and make receiving the Holy Ghost a priority. Do you know that procrastination is a blemish on your garment? Read about the ten virgins in Matthew 25. The five foolish virgins procrastinated in having their vessels filled with oil, and they were left out of the Marriage Supper. Trust me when I say that you don’t want to be left behind when the Rapture takes place because you will find yourself in a living nightmare for the rest of your life.
Backslider, my heart goes out to you. The devil has enticed you to go astray and leave your home with the Lord. I encourage you to come back to Jesus; He is waiting for you with open arms. His Resurrection power is available to make you a new creature in Christ. He wants to bring you out of death into everlasting life, so don’t let the devil make you think you can’t come home and that you have to keep eating scraps when the Lord has a big banquet supper waiting for you as well as a robe of righteousness.
