Led by the Spirit

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God (Romans 8:14). To be a son or a daughter of God, you have to be led by the Holy Spirit; and when you are, the Spirit will be your guide. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear [from Heaven], that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13).
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth. He is a real person and the third person in the Trinity of the Godhead whom the Lord sent to Earth to lead us, direct us, advise us and show us which way to go. He will influence our course of action and help us make decisions. We have all of this and more through the person of the Holy Spirit; but first, we must receive Him.
When you are born again, the heavy burden of sin is lifted from you; and you are made a new person who is pure, clean and holy. Salvation is such a great feeling that you may think it is the end when it is really just the beginning. You have to go on to receive the Holy Ghost.
Being baptized in the Spirit is an experience you will never forget for all eternity. When you are baptized, the Holy Ghost will give you such freedom and jubilation that you can again think you have it all; but it is just the beginning of a new life in the Spirit.
Salvation and the Holy Spirit baptism are the two experiences the Lord uses to usher you into a place where you live and walk in the Spirit. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). Being taught by the Spirit and led by the Spirit is the only life to live here on Earth. It is a heavenly life that you must strive to keep every day.
When the Holy Ghost comes into your life, He comes to stay; and He will not move out unless you reject Him. Jesus said, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide [stay] with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:16,17).
The Holy Spirit lives and dwells inside you, and He will bring to your mind whatever you need from Heaven. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). But remember, those things must first be in your soul.
Wait on God
The Holy Spirit came to glorify Jesus. He shall glorify me [Jesus]: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you (John 16:14). When the Spirit comes in and speaks through a person, He is usually glorifying Jesus.
The Holy Spirit will also show you what the Lord wants you to do and help you do it. The Lord has not left you on this Earth to fend for yourself; but when you try to do things on your own, you will rob yourself of divine peace and health and become flesh-minded rather than Holy Spirit-minded.
You have to acknowledge the Lord and His Spirit without running ahead of Him or lagging behind. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct [all] thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6). Before you buy a home or some other big item, you should get the mind of the Lord. Some people have bought things and then asked me to pray because they thought they might have done the wrong thing, but it is too late then. When you look to the Lord and wait on Him, you can have the answers you need.
God is so patient with us, and we must also have patience to wait on Him. Some of you may think you are waiting on God, but you are not waiting in the right place. When you go to see a doctor, you must wait for him in his waiting room, not somebody else’s; and it is the same with waiting on God—you must wait in His waiting room. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD (Psalm 27:14).
Take God’s Thoughts
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones (Proverbs 3:7,8).People who want to be wise in their own eyes can only guess, assume, imagine or go by feelings when deciding what they should do. The Spirit, however, can search the deep things of God and give them the direction and answers they need.
God reveals things to us through the Holy Ghost and through His holy power. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God (I Corinthians 2:10). God told me years ago to think deep, and He also tells us that in His Word. O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep (Psalm 92:5).To think deep means you think only the things of God. You can never mix in any worldly ideas or opinions of others with God’s thoughts.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God (I Corinthians 2:11). The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, and the things of God are freely given to us by Heaven. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God(I Corinthians 2:12).
The Holy Ghost will teach you how to compare spiritual things with spiritual things. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual (I Corinthians 2:13). He is a patient, loving, kind and tender teacher; but He will never force His leadership upon anyone— a person has to want it.
The things of God can only be spiritually discerned, and you must have the Holy Spirit to help you do that. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (I Corinthians 2:14). That is God’s way of thinking through us, and we must be plugged in to Heaven all the time. When you let the Spirit do your thinking, you won’t stumble around in the night, not knowing where to step next.
Never Listen to Self
The Holy Spirit cannot lead people who are full of self. That is why the Lord wants you to study yourself and know how and when you go into your own human thinking, your own ways, your own notions and your own opinions. When you depend on self, you hinder the Spirit from being able to work with you as He wants to because your soul and mind are not completely open to Him. Then doubt, fear, ego, unbelief and so many other things that are not of God begin to creep in. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7).
When your Spirit is not yielded to the Holy Ghost, you are living in your feelings and not in faith; and that does not please God.But without faith it is impossible to please him [God] (Hebrews 11:6). That is why the Bible says, The just shall live by faith (Galatians 3:11). Only through faith can the Holy Spirit do all the work the Father planned for Him to do in your life.
When you yield your whole self to the Holy Spirit, everything about you becomes His—your soul, your mind and your body. You have completely buried self, and you have given the Spirit the power of control over you. Your spirit melts into His, and He takes over. Your mind is His to think through and use; and that puts Him in the driver’s seat of wisdom, knowledge and greatness.
The Holy Spirit will teach you more than any parent, earthly professor or instructor ever could; and He will give you more wisdom and knowledge day by day than you could ever gain in a lifetime. You don’t have to make mistakes like you have done in the past because divinity knows what you should do in every situation. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).
When you give over to self, you grieve the Holy Spirit; but the Bible plainly says, And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30). If you want the reality of divine love, faith, grace and all the greatness of the Spirit, you must humbly bow to the leading of the Holy Spirit and be so grateful that He is dwelling in you.
The Holy Spirit moves in different ways than the human spirit does, so you must learn to separate the two and know when you are not yielding to the Spirit like you should. Thus saith the Lord, the Bride will know; and that is why she will be so faithful and turn so many to righteousness. The Bride will have the joy and peace of Heaven and everything she needs. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
The Reality of the Spirit
There may be times when you don’t feel you have the strength to do what God wants you to, but the Spirit will give you the strength you need. That comes with the Lord’s anointings, and you can receive the same anointings Jesus used when He was here. He said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised (Luke 4:18).
You must let the Holy Spirit become the strength and power of your life. Then you will be more than a conqueror just as Paul was, and nothing can defeat you. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:35-37). When the enemy comes in like a flood, you must yield to the Spirit; and He will give you the strength you need to overcome and to unload every burden at the feet of Jesus.
The reason many Christians are defeated so much of the time is because they don’t have the reality of the Spirit operating in their life. They may have Him dwelling on the inside of them, but they do not recognize Him all the time; so they wander around in a fog of doubt, fear and frustration.
It is not enough just to have the Holy Spirit living inside of you; you must know without a doubt that He is a real person and that He is alive. He has the intelligence, power and greatness of God; and He wants to reveal those things to you. He makes Himself known to you; but if you don’t also make yourself known to Him, there will be no connection.
The Holy Spirit must be a mighty revelation within of the grace of God available to you daily through Jesus Christ. Then He will give you wonderful and deep revelations of the greatness of God Almighty, the personality of Jesus Christ and God’s divine will for you. He will help you through every valley and teach you whatever you need to know, but you must get quiet with Him and be still in His presence. Study to be quiet (I Thessalonians 4:11).
Study the Word
To have the Holy Spirit’s help, you must yield to Him and live in the Word, the truth. Only with the Word in your heart will the Holy Spirit have something to work with. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15). The Word will shine its light on your every path.
The Word must be like food to you. You must eat it and digest it. Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart (Jeremiah 15:16). It is so wonderful to study word after word and draw from the Gospel well of salvation.
The Word cleanses. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word (Psalm 119:9). That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word (Ephesians 5:26). People must take heed to the Word of the living God, or they will go to hell.
Jesus said, Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:14). It took 1500 years to dig the well of the Gospel, but God worked all that time to give us the way of life here on Earth. God and His Son paid a big price for us, and the Holy Ghost is still paying a big price today so we can know which direction to go here on Earth.
If you have trouble understanding and using the Word, you need to yield more to the Holy Spirit. He speaks to us today through the Word, so you need to spend time with it. I have to live in God’s presence so much of the time, but I delight in doing that. Being in His presence and knowing that God is right there with you is the greatest place to be, and then you will be on duty for Him any hour of the day or night.
When the Holy Spirit is dealing with me with the scriptures, I can shut out anyone because I am listening to what the Spirit is saying. Through John the Revelator, Jesus said seven different times to seven different churches, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith (Revelation 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22).
The Holy Spirit is the author of the Word of God, so He knows everything about it; and we must be taught by Him. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (II Peter 1:21).
The Word is God’s love message to us throughout our journey here on Earth. It is a beautiful love letter that can be opened any time of the night or day. Check that love often and hear the Lord saying, Lo, I am with you alway (Matthew 28:20). I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5).
Fulfill God’s Will
The Holy Spirit can give you holy boldness, and you must have it. The Early Church disciples knew they needed it; and they prayed, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:29,31).
Do you listen to people who gossip, or are you bold enough to stop them dead in their tracks? If they call you, do you hang up on them; and if they approach you, do you walk away? You may be afraid you will insult them, but that is what you need to do. You must have the holy boldness the Early Church had.
The Holy Spirit can lead you to a task God has for you if you are willing and obedient to do it, but He will never force it on you. Jesus willingly came to Earth to suffer and die for us; and because of that, the Spirit kept Him through it all. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth (I Peter 2:21,22).
Jesus could not be satisfied until He had accomplished His mission. He said, But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened [constrained by the Spirit] till it be accomplished (Luke 12:50)! Are you yielded to the point where you can say as Jesus did, Not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:42)?
Some people will say God told them to do something; but the next day, they have a different story. When God really tells you something, it will burn upon your soul and in your innermost being.
Paul knew what God wanted of him, and he always bowed to God’s will. He felt the force of the Spirit leading him into the place God wanted him to be. And now, behold, I [Paul] go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there (Acts 20:22).
Paul let nothing deter him from what the Spirit directed him to do. He said, But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24). Paul was completely yielded, and you can learn to be that yielded, too.
Listen to the Spirit
The Holy Spirit will not only lead you to do the works the Lord has called you to do, He will also enable you to do them. Jesus knew that; and He said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works [greater in number] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12). The Holy Spirit wants to lead you on to greater heights and to do more work for the Lord, but you have to hear what He is saying.
Peter heard the Spirit when He told him, Behold, three men seek thee. Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them (Acts 10:19,20). You not only have to hear the Spirit, you also have to obey Him; and that is what Peter did.
Those men had come from Caesarea and from the house of a centurion named Cornelius, and Peter went with them just like the Spirit had told him to. As he preached to those who had gathered at Cornelius’ house, the Holy Ghost fell; and they were all baptized in the Spirit.
The Spirit spoke to the disciples regarding Paul and Barnabas. As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul [Paul] for the work whereunto I have called them (Acts 13:2). He called those two on a missionary journey, and they obeyed.
The Holy Spirit told Paul and Barnabas where to go and where not to go. They had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia (Acts 16:6).
This Is the Latter Rain
We are living in the Latter Rain of the Spirit, and the Bible tells us that the Latter Rain will be greater than the Early Rain. For he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month (Joel 2:23).
God is pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh just as He said He would. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit (Joel 2:28,29).
Everyone who is now on Earth will be given a chance to receive; and as God pours out His power through His Spirit, we must take in all we need and can use. There is no reason why anyone cannot receive the baptism and be led by the Holy Spirit unless they just don’t want to be. Unfortunately, there are many people who are like that today.
Jesus was the Son of God, but He had to receive the Spirit when He was here. John saw that take place; and he said, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him (John 1:32). Then Jesus was led by the Spirit. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan [where He had been baptized], and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness [to fast] (Luke 4:1). The devil tempted Jesus during His time in the wilderness; but when the fast was over, Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee (Luke 4:14).
You must realize that receiving and then being led of the Spirit does not mean you will never have temptations or hardships. There will be times when the Spirit will lead you into something that may be trying to the flesh; but if you will yield, you will come out of it in the power of God just as Jesus did.
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth, so you never have to be afraid of going wherever He leads you. The Bible says, Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (II Corinthians 3:17).
No matter what you are going through, the Holy Spirit will always be there to lead you, help you and guide you. He will give you power to be an overcomer, and He will show you things to come through the Word just as Jesus said He would. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you (John 16:15).
Never Fall Away
Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Early Church evangelized the known world in a little over thirty years; but then they lost the power. They let the devil get in, and they fell away from God as they let the things of the world get into the church.
We cannot fail today; we must go forth to work for the Lord. God promised it would be easy for people to get saved during this pouring out time. In the past, it was almost impossible to get older people saved; but not anymore. A person can be at death’s door, and a true child of God can lead that soul to Christ.
We are told that hearing is the last faculty to go, so a child of God can say the sinner’s prayer into a dying person’s ears; and that person can receive forgiveness just by calling upon the Lord either with their mouth or in their mind. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered (Joel 2:32).
Are you going to help God win souls in this final hour? Are you going to fulfill your calling? Philip heard and obeyed the Spirit’s call when He told him, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot (Acts 8:29). Philip did run after that chariot, and the eunuch in it was saved. The Spirit can lead us in ways we don’t expect, but they are always in agreement with the Word of God...and the Word of God is always in agreement for a soul to be saved.
Pray in God’s Will
When you are led by the Spirit, you will ask the right things of the Lord because you will have the mind of the Spirit. Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you (John 16:23).
When you ask for things that are the mind of the Holy Ghost, He will make intercession for you. For we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:26,27). Jesus will also make intercession for you. It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us (Romans 8:34).
The Holy Spirit knows the will of God, so He will direct you in what to ask for and pray for. Jesus said, Whatsoever ye shall ask [according to the will of God] of the Father in my name, he may give it you (John 15:16). Then you have to give God all the glory for your answered prayers. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my [Jesus’] name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13).
You have to study the scriptures and know what your faith will do. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much (James 5:15,16). When you are led by the Spirit, you will have faith in what God’s miracle power can do; and you will be ready to make intercessory prayer for loved ones and for your brothers and sisters in Christ who may need your help. When you pray the right way, you can get a prayer through to Heaven right away.
People who pray selfish prayers will not get answers. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts (James 4:3). When people pray for the wrong things, their prayers are lifeless. That is why your praying has to be done through the Holy Ghost.
Dead prayers never reach the throne of grace. That is why there are so many spiritually dead churches, and their church members are not ready to meet the Lord. The people are not being led or taught by the Spirit, and they don’t live in the Spirit.
Jesus Made the Way
The Holy Spirit leads as God directs Him, and God uses Him to draw His people unto Himself. That drawing is always for your eternal good; are you responding to it? God will never draw people into anything that will subtract from them spiritually, only things that will add. He will draw you into the prayer chamber for more communion with Him. He will draw you into fasting to afflict your soul so you will give less to self and more to Him.
Jesus said, And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me (John 12:32). Jesus was referring to the fact that He would be crucified so men, women, boys and girls could draw nigh to God in every way.
The Bible lets us know that it is the goodness of God that draws a man to repentance. Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance (Romans 2:4)?
God always hears the cries of those who are as sorry for their sins as God is that they committed them, but there was a time when people could not be drawn nigh unto God. For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope [Jesus] did; by the which we draw nigh unto God (Hebrews 7:19).
Under the Old Testament Law, man was shut out of the Holy of Holies. The high priests were permitted to go in there alone once a year and atone for the people; but when Jesus died on the Cross, the veil in the temple that separated the Holy of Holies was rent. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom (Mark 15:37,38). Notice that the veil was rent from top to bottom and not from bottom to top, signifying that God had done it and not man.
After Christ’s crucifixion, man was no longer shut out from God. He could go boldly before the throne of grace to find help in time of need at any hour of the day or night. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). We no longer need a high priest to go before God for us because salvation takes us in.
The Spirit Draws You Deeper
When God draws on you, the Holy Spirit will lead you with great patience to follow that drawing; but you must consider being led by the Spirit to be a blessing. When the mighty God, the great I-Am, is drawing you into His everlasting arms of love and grace, you must realize the great value of that drawing and set aside everything to obey it.
God wants to carry your burdens and give you rest for your soul. Are you letting Him do that, or are you trying to carry those heavy burdens alone? Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30). That should make you rejoice.
If you continue to carry your own burdens, you will become weary in well-doing; and the Bible says we are not to do that. Let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not (Galatians 6:9). The Spirit loves you, and He wants what is best for you; so you never have to be afraid that He will lead you in the wrong direction.
I say again that the Lord’s drawing and the Holy Spirit’s leading are always for your good; so you must respond to every gentle knock that comes to your heart’s door, to every small prick of the Spirit and to any of His convicting power. That is God’s way of bringing you into a better place with Him.
The Spirit’s pricks may sting a bit, but they are to remind you that you haven’t prayed enough or given enough time to the Word of God that day. So respond to those pricks because they are for your good as well as the good of God, His Son and the Holy Ghost.
Fasting Is for Your Good
God desires intimate communion with His children, but self hinders that relationship; so the Spirit may lead you into the fasting chamber to show you where self is out of order. Fasting helps you to see yourself in ways you never have before. It reveals your weaknesses, your shortcomings and any habits that hinder your walk with God.
If you respond to the Spirit’s leading to fast and you fast God’s way, you will come out of that fast a changed person; and you will be thankful for the drawing of God and His Spirit. Your flesh may try to keep you from fasting, and it may even resent it; but don’t listen to the flesh.
I never broke one fast that God called me on no matter how weak I was. I would pray for strength, and God would give me the strength I needed. I could go into the pulpit, and the Lord would pour out His power through me in such a great way that I couldn’t even tell I was fasting. But when I went home or to my place of abode for that night, I could really tell the difference when the anointing gently lifted from me.
When you are on a fast, don’t think about food all the time; and spend as much time with the Word as you can no matter how weak you feel. God wants to commune with you, and I love for Him to do that. It fills me with peace and joy, and it makes me feel so alive. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). The joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
When the Lord leads you into deeper communion with Him, be thankful that He loves you enough to do that and respond to Him. He puts so much love in each of His drawings, and He brings you into the beauty of holiness. O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth (Psalm 96:9).
Live by the Word
Today, the Bride is crying to the Lord, Draw me, we will run after thee (Song of Solomon 1:4). When you run after Him, the results will be gladness, rejoicing and remembrance of His love above everything else. Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD (Psalm 105:3).
The psalmist yearned for God to draw him and deal with him. Deal bountifully [in a great and mighty way] with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word (Psalm 119:17). The psalmist also realized he had to keep God’s Word, and through the Word is how the Holy Spirit leads us today. Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word (Psalm 119:65).
The Spirit leads mightily through the Word of God, and He will quicken it in your heart and mind to bring life to you. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63). The quickening of the Spirit helps you to keep the Word.
The psalmist said, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11). You have to hide the Word in your heart for more than just keeping you from sin; it must be your life and your discipline. You must live according to every word contained in it because everything you need is there.
Jesus was the Word made flesh, and He brought the Word to us. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14).
The New Testament is the Lord’s fantastic Will of inheritance to His children, and it is a Testament signed with Jesus’ own blood. What love He showed when He died and left that Testament for you and me, but do you really appreciate it? How much do you study the Word, and how well do you know it?
You must trust God and take everything you hear and see to His Word to make sure it matches. Then you must stand on the Word saying, “God said it; I believe it, and that settles it.” Many people believe that a minister would never preach anything wrong, but that is so destructive. You cannot fall into that trap, and you cannot put trust in anyone who twists even one verse of the Word.
Open the Door
Every day, the Lord will gently knock on your heart’s door, and the Spirit will lead you to answer. Behold, I [Jesus] stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup [dine] with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20). Notice that you are the one who has to want the Lord and open the door; the Spirit will never force Himself upon anyone.
In the Song of Solomon, we find that the Groom was knocking on the Bride’s door, but she would not answer. I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them (Song of Solomon 5:2,3)?
Later, the Bride decided to get up and open the door, but the Groom was gone. I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock. I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer (Song of Solomon 5:5,6). The Bride cried and searched for Him, but she could not find Him.
The Lord has to be first in your life all the time. If you are not always responding to the Spirit’s leading, you will have to change; or He will eventually leave. How awful it will be one day to search for the Lord and not be able to find Him.
The Spirit was striving to lead Paul to the truth and get him to open his heart’s door, but he was kicking against the pricks. And he [Saul] said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks (Acts 9:5). The pricks of the Spirit will dig into your innermost being, and that is what was happening to Paul.
Stephen was the first martyr, and Paul had watched him die a victorious death. Paul didn’t actually stone Stephen, but he held the cloaks of those who did and encouraged them to do it. The witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep (Acts 7:58-60). I’m sure Paul could not get away from the anointing and power that were in Stephen’s life, and his dying words must have constantly pricked Paul’s conscience.
Hear the Voice of the Lord
The Lord draws you with a still, small voice, and that voice will direct your steps if you allow it to. Elijah had killed 450 prophets of Baal, and he was running from an angry Jezebel; so he climbed the mount of God and hid in a cave. The devil really tried to deceive him there, but he wouldn’t listen. And he [the Lord] said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice (I Kings 19:11,12).
Elijah waited for that still, small voice, and that is what he obeyed. That voice will bring so much peace, love and grace to your life. The Lord said, Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10).
Members of the Bride of Christ, you must hear that still, small voice. God is working with you, and it is going to be amazing what He will do for you and through you in this last hour. The Lord said the time would come when all who called upon the Lord would be saved, and that time is now. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21).
I am so excited over all God is doing day and night, and it is drawing me ever onward because I know the time is coming when I won’t be able to win any more souls. Some preachers talk about retirement just as if they are businessmen, but I can never retire when there are still souls to be won. I am glad the Lord called me to preach, and I am glad He has walked with me all the way and kept every promise He has made to me. I am glad He has given me the strength and courage I need to face any kind of trouble or persecution knowing that He is Lord God Almighty.
Redeem the Time
There are over seven billion people on Earth now, and God is making the way for us to reach so many of them through our website, our world-wide radio station and the printed page. The Holy Spirit will also be drawing people through those of us who have yielded all to the Lord.
The hour is late and our time here on Earth is limited. Thus saith the Lord, we have to make every day count. The Spirit urges us to hurry and redeem the time, and I am seeking to make all of my time really count for God just as Jesus did. He said, I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work (John 9:4). I am hiding the Word in my heart because I want to be ready to serve the purity, honesty, grace, love, faith and goodness of the Word to everyone I can.
True members of the Bride of Christ are in the place now where we won’t even feel the need of saying goodbye when Jesus comes. We will be so yielded to the Lord and so wrapped up in His arms of love, peace, faith and deliverance that we won’t even think about going back home…and there will be no time to do that anyway because we will be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (I Corinthians 15:52). We will have our new bodies, and we will be on our way to Heaven to live with the Lord forever. Every sacrifice will be worth it all because all the riches on Earth could never buy what we will have in our heavenly home.
Beware of Going Your Own Way
Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God can make you into anything He wants you to be if you will let Him be the potter and you the clay. O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand (Isaiah 64:8). He will make us into workers for Him who will move on in to do His great will. Will you listen and yield to Him? And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left (Isaiah 30:21).
If you don’t heed the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit or the still, small voice of the Lord calling you, then God may choose to use something drastic to get your attention like He did for Jonah. God had told him what to do, but he refused. Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee (Jonah 1:1-3).
God was not pleased with Jonah, so He prepared a great fish [a whale] to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights (Jonah 1:17). Will God have to send a whale after you?
Through divine love and grace, God has been longsuffering to deal with people and to draw them. He has knocked at their hearts’ doors many times, and He has tried to reveal His glory to them in many ways. Unfortunately, all will not respond, but it is to their own hurt. You may excuse yourself when God calls on you to do something saying, “I’m too busy”; but you should never be too busy to do God’s work. His work must always come first in your life. He must not have just one of your hands; He must have both of them.
No matter what you face, God will give you great favor, peace and laughter; and the Holy Spirit is there to give you direction. Like Paul, you must find that God’s grace is always sufficient. He told Paul, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9). It doesn’t matter how deep the valley is, how horrible the lions’ den is or how hot the fiery furnace is; God will always be with you through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
Our sufferings will not last forever, and the Bible confirms that. If so be that we suffer with him [the Lord], that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us (Romans 8:17,18).
So many wonderful blessings will be yours when you travel with the Lord. He wants to make all of His children to sit in heavenly places. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-6).
Seek to Go Deeper
If you will respond to the leading of the Holy Spirit, your life will be more fruitful and more fulfilled. You may hold an important position in the church, but you cannot rely on that position as your passport to Heaven. You must always seek to go deeper with the Lord. You must meet with Him in the closet of consecration and dedication because God does not want us to respond to Him only with lip service or outward actions.
God draws you with great love, and He wants a heartfelt response; but for some, it is just an outward thing. People may say one thing, but that doesn’t mean their heart is in it. They make promises with only their mouth, and that is no good.
Jesus described some of the people in His day saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me (Matthew 15:8). Such people are failing God, and they will be the losers when they are left behind. They may think they are all right; but the Bible says, There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 16:25).
Many people think they can hide things from God, but no one can hide anything from God. And if your heart is right, you won’t have anything to hide anyway; and you will have plenty of the Lord’s blessings to serve. Thank God Almighty for those who are free!
There are times when God will draw on you harder than at others, but don’t become concerned and think that means something is wrong. The Lord draws the hardest when you are right because He has so much to draw on in a perfect heart.
Stop worrying so much about yourself because the Holy Ghost in you will bear witness that you are all right. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16). The Spirit will lead you to draw closer and closer to the Lord in this final hour because He has so much for us to serve.
Are You Ready for Heaven?
This is the Rapture generation for sure. Jesus said, When ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors (Matthew 24:33). We can see the end-time signs all around us, and Jesus will soon come for the Bride; but you will not go unless you are saved and filled with the Holy Ghost.
There is no power like Holy Ghost power, and that is the power that will take us out of here when Jesus comes. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20).
If you are saved today, it is because of Calvary. Calvary means victory, and no one can be saved without it. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). Only through the name of Jesus can people be saved. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
No one can even come to the Lord without God and the Spirit drawing him. Jesus said, No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:44). He also said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father (John 6:65).
If you are not saved today, say this prayer right now: Oh, God, I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of all. I know He died and was resurrected for me and that He gave His divine blood so I could be free. I put my faith in the blood of Jesus, and I believe that blood washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in, Jesus! If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come; and He is yours. Start praying and reading your Bible, and doing some Bible fasting will help you, too.
Your Miracle Awaits
Do you need healing for yourself, a child or another loved one? You may be dying with an incurable disease, but I will agree with you for the miracle today. The Bible says, If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 18:19). I’m one, and you’re two; so you can receive.
You may have a disease or affliction for which there is no cure in medical science, but you can have the cure through our Lord because His miracle power works. However, you must be prayed up, yielded and want the will of God for your life to be able to touch Heaven. I am not the healer; Jesus is the healer. The Father sent His Son to us with healing in His wings. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings (Malachi 4:2).
I cannot heal anyone; I am just God’s witness on whom He has bestowed His gifts. I never thought I would have one of the nine gifts of the Holy Ghost, much less all of them; but the Lord chose me. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will (I Corinthians 12:8-11). Those gifts are not for everybody; the Lord chooses only special ones to receive His gifts because they carry a great responsibility.
Receive Healing Now
If you believe the Word I have taught in this message, whatsoever you ask according to God’s will shall be done; and it is God’s will for His children to be made whole. Lord, deliver the people from AIDS, cancer, heart trouble, TB, leprosy, paralysis, blindness and any other terrible diseases that are destroying their bodies. I curse those diseases right now. Heal! in the holy name of the Lord. Heal! in the all-powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
Now, watch yourself, your child and your loved ones get well. But remember that you must live for the Lord and raise your child to love Jesus. Also, Jesus must have all the honor, the praise and the glory for every miracle.
Follow all that the Lord has given you in this message, and your life will count for Him every day and every minute that you have left on this Earth. Know what God’s Word says and recognize all of God’s promises to you. Let those promises become living reality to you all the time, and He will lift you into heavenly places to show you His greatness again and again. He will serve you well so you can serve Him well by bringing in the lost before it is too late. The God who made you loves you with an unending love, and He is reaching for you in love. He is offering the truth to each of His children in this last and final hour who will be led only by God’s Spirit.
Thus Saith the Lord
I am the Lord that called thee. I am the Lord that chose thee. I am the Lord that careth for thee. Journey with me and win souls, saith the Lord. I called you in the name of my Son, Jesus. I sent Him to be your Lord, Master and Savior. He died for you, and now He is asking you to live for Him and bring in the lost souls He died for, saith the Lord.
