If You Had Been with God, Would You Have Believed?
by Ernest Angley
August 2011
This message is an examination of both you and your faith. God wants you throughout this message to check your faith, saith the Lord. What is faith?—simply accepting what God has said knowing that it’s all truth and then acting it out. Do you have human faith or divine faith? How often do you use human faith rather than divine faith? Human faith is too weak to help you do the things you need to do for the Lord. When Jesus spoke of human faith, He called it “little faith.” O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt (Matthew 14:31)? If the Lord is saying that to you today, it’s because you’re not using divine faith.
If you had been with God, would you have believed? That’s the question God wants you to use to examine your faith. You may say that you believe the Bible, but do you believe it enough to act it out? If not, then your believing only comes from the human spirit. This ministry was built on divine faith; that’s why we have signs, wonders, miracles and healings in every service and why we have thousands of mass miracles in our overseas crusades. They all come from the Lord.
God Created the Heavens and the Earth
If you had been with God when He said He was going to create the Universe and the Earth we walk on, would you have believed? Would you have believed when He said He was going to hang the Earth upon nothing; or would you have said, “No one can hang something on nothing”? The Bible says He did it. He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing (Job 26:7).
Would you have believed God when He said He was going to make a beautiful sun to come up every morning and a moon and stars to give light at night? And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good (Genesis 1:14-18).
God created all of this; but if you had been with God, would you have believed or been a hindrance? If you would have been a hindrance at that time, then you’re a hindrance today. God said, I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass (Ezekiel 12:25). He also said, Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me (Jeremiah 32:27)? If you answer, “No, there isn’t anything too hard for the Lord,” but then you doubt, you’re not justified in the eyes of God, saith the Lord. He can’t move for you like He wants to because you tie His hands.
God brought nature to life when the Earth was nothing but darkness—no sunshine, no stars or moon, no flowers or trees and no birds to sit in those trees and sing the songs of God. God created it all without the help of one human being. God is the Almighty, and He can get along without any one of us or all of us if need be! That’s a scary statement. I don’t want God to ever have to get along without me, and that’s why I give everything to Him and always put Him first.
First Love
Divine love will put God ahead of everything else. Study the letter Jesus gave to the first church in Revelation 2:1-7. The Lord said some wonderful things to that church; but then He said, Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love (Revelation 2:4). The first thing you receive at Calvary is divine love. God gives everyone a measure of faith that will take them to Calvary if they want to go, but no one can get saved without divine love. God fills you with His love when you become a born-new creation in Christ. When your soul is re-created, you’re as pure as Heaven itself without hate, grudges or anything else unlike God. It’s sad that most people don’t believe God will re-create a soul; but the Psalmist said, I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). The Holy Ghost flowed the divine blood, divine love and divine grace through the Psalmist; and he was beautifully made by the hand of God.
Many children of God today are beautifully made. They were born without the image of God; but when God looks at them now, He sees Himself. When they’re working, He sees Himself at work. They are a part of His family just as much as His Only Begotten is. How could anyone in that heavenly family doubt God?
God Created Man
If you had been with God, would you have believed when He said He was going to make a man? Everything He created prior to man was simply spoken into existence; but when God created Adam, He got down into the dirt. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7). Would you have believed if you had watched God make that man, or would you have said, “God, it won’t work”? If that would have been your response, then I thank God you were not there. However, you’re here today; and when you finish reading this message, I want you to be full of faith and never doubt God again. I make no room for doubt. Nothing could ever make me doubt God because I know He’s the great I-Am—not the great I-was.
When you saw that God did create a man, would you have said in your heart, “He won’t breathe or move”? The Lord had a plan for that, too; and He breathed into the man a part of Himself. Man had life, and he could walk and talk. His soul came from God, so he could never die. When Adam opened his eyes, the first face he saw was that of the Almighty God who had created him; and I can just hear him saying, “God, I love you!”
How do I know that?—because that’s the way I felt when I was born new. All of a sudden, I was saying, “God, I sure do love you, your Son and your Holy Spirit.” My enemies had all vanished along with all hate, all grudges, all sin and anything that had the appearance of sin. I had joy unspeakable and full of glory (I Peter 1:8). The Word of the living God was flowing through me like mighty rivers; and at eighteen, I finally had real life!
When you really consider that God formed man out of just dirt, why would you ever doubt that God could re-create parts of people’s bodies or make cripples walk? Why would you ever doubt God about anything? But take note that God did not create man alone—Jesus and the Holy Spirit were there, too. When God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness (Genesis 1:26), He wasn’t talking to human beings; He was talking to divinity. We’re made in the image of God, the Son and the Holy Ghost. It’s so simple when you let God explain it to you.
God Wants to Fellowship with Us
I had the privilege of actually seeing a part of God and walking with Him in a divine visitation in 1954. I didn’t know it was God at the time; but I knew it wasn’t an angel, and I knew it wasn’t Jesus. As we walked along, the side of my face came up to His kneecap; so I could see Him from His knee down. I’ll never forget the way He was dressed—like a Roman soldier ready for war. I’ve seen Jesus many times, but He’s never been dressed like that. God didn’t identify Himself, but I knew I was walking with divinity. I never thought to look up into the face of this divine person, but I knew that He was very tall; and yet we kept in step without any effort. I never questioned God about the experience, but later He did let me know that it was Him.
I don’t always ask God questions; I wait on the Lord until He’s ready to reason with me. The Bible says, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD (Isaiah 1:18). The Lord wants to talk with His children, but some people will reason with others more than they do with God. You’ll reason with yourself and try to work out your problems and make all kinds of plans; but you won’t reason with God. The Bible says seven times, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith (Revelation 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22). I have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying. I listen to God, and I reason with Him. I hear what the angel is saying. I’m tuned into the throne of God, and I hear the things the Lord wants me to hear. The Lord will give me His thoughts, and I pass them on to teach others.
The Plan of God
In Adam, God had a man He could walk and talk with, one who had never known sin and was intended to have lived forever. God had never planned for Adam to get old and wrinkled or have pain. He had no tear ducts, so he was never to have cried. When the curse came upon the bodies of Adam and Eve, it changed them; and that’s why our bodies cause us so much trouble. Our teeth were never to have decayed; our eyes were never to have become weak, and we weren’t designed to need to use the restroom. There was to be no weakness in our bodies, no sorrow and no death. That was God’s marvelous plan, but man failed.
God had talked to Adam and instructed him, “This is my Garden; keep it well. Feel free to eat of every tree; they have all kinds of good fruit, except for that one over there—that’s the death tree. The tree over to your right is the tree of life. Eat of that tree, and you’ll live forever; but if you eat of that evil tree to your left, you will die.” Adam believed and obeyed God, and he didn’t go to that evil tree.
God Created Eve
As time went on, God looked at Adam with great compassion and decided that he needed a helpmate. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man (Genesis 2:21,22). If you had been with God, would you have believed when He said, “I’m going to make a woman out of one of Adam’s ribs”? Adam didn’t doubt; he had never doubted or disobeyed God.
When God made Eve, she was so beautiful—if only she had stayed that way, this world would be a different place—but Eve let ego creep in. Then she allowed a tiny seed of doubt into her spirit; and the devil took advantage of that and talked to Eve through the serpent saying, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:4,5). The serpent was the most charming and beautiful creature in the Garden. He walked upright at that time, and his beauty fascinated Eve; that’s why he got her attention. He didn’t crawl in the dirt and eat dust until the Lord cursed him. And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life (Genesis 3:14).
We have no record of how long it took the devil to deceive Eve, but we do know that Adam had nothing to do with it. Then one day, Eve went to Adam with a piece of the forbidden fruit. She had already eaten part of it; and she said, “See, Adam, the serpent was right; this fruit won’t make us die. The Lord is just trying to keep something good away from us. I took a bite, and I feel great! It’s as if I know everything. Come on, Adam, and eat; and we won’t have to depend on God anymore.”
When Adam yielded and took a bite of the fruit, everything changed for them. Suddenly, he and Eve no longer had good health, and they had pain in their bodies. Suddenly, they had no happiness, and tears flowed down their cheeks. They were altogether different beings—changed into the image of the devil, the one God hates so much. The man and woman who had been so beautifully made had become ugly.
Man Was Cursed
Sin makes people ugly, and God hates it; so He cast Adam and Eve out of the Garden. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life (Genesis 3:24). If you had been with God and seen the cherubims at the gate with flaming swords, you would have known that death was at the gate. What a price! Death had come to the Garden, and death had come to the human race. Hate had taken the place of love; condemnation had taken the place of justification, and unrighteousness had replaced righteousness. God could not allow man and woman to get to the tree of life in that degraded state or they would have lived like that forever, so God would not allow that gate to be opened again until there was a door made back to Him in the form of the Cross.
Genesis opened with life and faith everywhere, but it closed with a dead man nailed in a box with no way out. If Jesus had not come, our buried loved ones would never have the opportunity to get out of the box; but thank God, on Resurrection Morn, we know the bodies of our loved ones are going to be raised in honor. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It [the body] is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body (I Corinthians 15:42-44). Do you doubt that at all?
God’s Plan for Noah
After Adam and Eve fell, things just kept getting worse and worse until the Earth was totally corrupted with doubt, which brought about all kinds of degraded sins. Every thought of man and woman was evil, so God decided to destroy them all. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them (Genesis 6:5-7).
Before God followed through with His promise to destroy, He heard a voice of righteousness, one that found grace and favor in His heart. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Genesis 6:8). God thought, “I can’t destroy a voice like that; that’s a voice like I gave the first Adam and Eve.” Then the Lord heard seven other righteous voices as well, and He decided that He would make a way for them to be spared.
And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood (Genesis 6:13,14). The Lord went on to tell Noah exactly how to build it.
If you had been with God when He gave all of those directions to Noah, would you have said, “God, I don’t believe they can build such a thing”? Although it took 120 years, Noah’s family did build the ark just as God had said. Everyone else watched and mocked just as people scoff at the things of God today, but Noah and his family paid them no mind. Then the Flood that God had promised came, and all of those people outside of the ark were destroyed. Do you really believe that?
The Miracle of Supply
The Bible tells us that it rained for forty days and nights, but Noah’s family and all of the animals had to stay in the ark for a little over a year. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened (Genesis 7:11). And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. And God spake unto Noah, saying, Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee (Genesis 8:14-16).
Do you believe that God provided them with food and supplies during that whole time? Of course He did. They had miracle meal barrels on board that ark, and they never ran dry. The Bible confirms that it happened that way when He did the same thing for Elijah and the widow woman.
Elijah arrived at the widow woman’s house during a great famine, and she had only a handful of meal and a few drops of oil left. She was getting ready to make the last little cake for herself and her son, and then they were going to starve to death. The Lord sent Elijah, the man of God, to tell her, Make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah (I Kings 17:13-16). The woman obeyed, and the Lord kept her meal barrel and her oil cruse full throughout the famine; and it’s hard to tell how many people she was able to feed. Would you have made a cake for God first?
Fasting Brings God’s Power
If you had been with God, would you have believed the stories of the ark and Elijah’s great miracle? In this last hour, we don’t have to build an ark because Jesus is our ark. He came saying, I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:9,10). He also said, Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die (John 11:26). Our bodies of clay may go back to the dust of the earth, but we will live forever! What a miracle!
You must know that God performs miracles and works through miracles. God is divine, and He has all power; and when Jesus came to make us sons and daughters of God, He gave us all power, too, through the Holy Ghost. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8). Jesus also said, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29). The Bible lets us know that Jesus fasted, and He’s our example. It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
When God called me on my first forty-day fast, I thought it would be my only one; but then He called me again and again…and the calls are still coming. Somebody once asked me, “How many forty-day fasts have you had?” I told the person that I don’t know, and it doesn’t matter. What’s important is what I have received through those fasts; the results are what count. Some of you have intended to go on a forty-day fast ever since you got saved; but that’s been many years ago, and you haven’t made it yet.
You may think that you can’t fast, but you can; and fasting is good for you when you drink plenty of water. As you live in the Word, you’ll get so close to God. Your thoughts will always be on Him, and your body will become so pure and holy in His presence. You’ll become so conscious of the hand of the Lord being upon you, of His footsteps and of the plain paths He’s making for your feet. You’ll find it so easy to talk to Heaven, and you’ll know that God always hears you. Jesus knew it, and so must we. Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always (John 11:41,42).
Only Believe
We’re to be just like Jesus; and He told us, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). Do you believe that? Jesus’ theme was only believe (Mark 5:36). Jesus said this after a man had taken his epileptic son to the Lord’s disciples for prayer, but they couldn’t help him. That didn’t cause the father to give up, and he went on to find Jesus.
Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not…but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us (Mark 9:17,18,22). Notice that the man said “if.” The Lord immediately threw that “if” right back at him like a bullet shot out of a gun, and it struck that man right where it needed to—in the heart.
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief (Mark 9:23,24). Then Jesus delivered the man’s son.
If you’re not getting results, say as that father did, “Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” You may not think you’re doubting, but you’re asking the Lord to help you anyway just in case you have any doubt you’re not aware of. We have to believe for God’s will to be done and then accept His will. Jesus said in the Garden of Gethsemane, Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:42).
I seek to learn every step that Jesus made, and I let the Holy Spirit direct me in each one. Jesus said, He [the Holy Spirit] shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26). The Spirit will teach you, guide you and never leave you.
Elijah Was Raptured
God had used Elijah in so many great ways, and then He decided to take him to Heaven alive. Would you have believed God when He said that? Elisha believed, and the Lord prepared him to take Elijah’s place. Even the sons of the prophets realized that Elijah was going to be raptured. The Lord can reveal Himself to people when they have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying and eyes to see. The sons of the prophets said to Elisha more than once, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head today? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace (II Kings 2:3). In other words, “Be quiet; you don’t have to tell me that. I already know Elijah is going to leave me today.”
As Elijah and Elisha walked together, they came to Jordan; and when Elijah struck the waters, they separated to the left and to the right, making a dry-land walkway right through the river. They continued on, and Elijah asked Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me (II Kings 2:9). Elisha had such a wonderful spirit that he didn’t ask Elijah for his home, money or possessions; he just wanted a double portion of the Spirit of the living God that Elijah had.
Elijah said to him, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so (II Kings 2:10). After that, Elisha never let Elijah out of his sight; and he did see Elijah go to Heaven. He saw the horses bringing the chariot of fire, and his heart leaped within him. He became so carried away with the sight that he momentarily forgot about the mantle of power Elijah had used to separate the water. Then suddenly he thought, “Elijah’s gone, but he didn’t leave me the mantle!” Then he looked up, and he saw it come floating down—Elijah hadn’t forgotten Elisha’s request.
God Hears His Children
Elisha picked up the mantle, and he wanted to know, “Do I have the double portion of the power that Elijah had?” He rushed back to Jordan remembering the miracle that had taken place on the other side; and he struck those waters crying, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over (II Kings 2:14). Elisha knew he was connected with Heaven.
Are you in touch with Heaven today? Can you say as Jesus said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always (John 11:41,42)? I say that to the Lord, and I know He hears me. He taught us that His ears are open to our cries. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry (Psalm 34:15). When you’re righteous, God’s ears are always open to you.
God Called Moses
If you had been with God when He told Moses that he would lead the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage, would you have believed? Moses had grown up in Egypt; so he knew the power of that devilish army, and he recognized the devils that were in Pharaoh. It took God forty years to prepare Moses for what He needed him to do; and at the burning bush, Moses was finally ready. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him [Moses] in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground (Exodus 3:2-5).
How astounding that must have been for God to say that to Moses, but now I know that we’re to be on holy ground from the time God saves us. We leave the devil’s territory behind and become just as holy as God Himself. The Bible says, It is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16).
The true children of God are a called-out people from a called-out people. They’re separated into His greatness for this final hour, and God wants to do mighty works through them—much greater than the works of the Early Church. This is the closing hour, saith the Lord, and our time is limited. Each member of the bridal company must have total obedience. Most people on Earth today will live to see the Rapture take place; but the Lord told me that He would take some of His dedicated children ahead of time to stir others and to let us know that the coming of the Lord is nigh. We must realize how fragile and helpless humanity is without God Almighty.
The Rod of Truth
While Moses was still standing on holy ground, the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand (Exodus 4:2-4). Moses obeyed the Word of the Lord, and he caught that serpent by the tail; but would you have done that? Would you have gone to the burning bush? Would you have gone to the Upper Room with the disciples? Is the fire of the Holy Ghost burning in you today? Moses’ rod represents the rod of truth; and if you abide in God’s truth like Moses did, you’re free, and you’re an overcomer like Jesus was.
Moses took that rod of truth and went forth to conquer; but would you have said, “Moses, it won’t work”? And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods (Exodus 7:10-12). Moses threw down his rod, and it became a serpent. Then Pharaoh’s magicians threw down their rods, and they became snakes, too. Would you have backed away and said, “Moses, something’s wrong”? Moses had faith because he knew God was with him, and he believed.
When you’re really moving with God, there’s no time for the devil or self. If you really believe, it will make all things possible for you. The rod of truth will always swallow up things that are false as well as hypocrites and those who follow the devil.
God Parted the Red Sea
Would you have believed God when He said, “Moses, I’m going to separate the waters of the Red Sea at a place where it’s twelve miles across and over eighty feet deep, and all the Israelites will go through it on dry ground”? And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left (Exodus 14:21,22).
When they were all safely across, God no longer held the waters back; and the Israelites watched the entire Egyptian army drown. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them (Exodus 14:26-28).
What an amazing sight that must have been! But even after all of those miracles, the Israelites didn’t believe God; and no matter what He did for them, they wouldn’t serve Him. Within just three days, the people were already complaining. So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink (Exodus 15:22-24)?
Today, so many people do the same thing, and they grumble and complain. God may give them a great miracle; but instead of continuing to think about it and rejoice over it, they let some other problem or trial take its place. I rejoice over a miracle God gives me until He gives me another one; and while I’m shouting over that miracle, I’m getting more faith to receive another one. You must realize this is our hour of great revelations and visitations.
If you had been with God when the bread came down from Heaven for the Israelites, would you have believed or would you have said, “Don’t eat it; it’s probably poison, and it might kill you”? And in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground. And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat (Exodus 16:13-15).
Act Like a Child of God
True children of God will believe Him; but if you’re not a son or daughter of God, you’re not in the family of God, and you’re not on your way to Heaven. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). The kind of seed you sow is the kind you’ll reap.
Some people sow a pouting spirit; and at times they won’t even speak to others, including their own mate. That spirit is of the devil, and a person like that can’t be saved. That person would go to hell if he or she were to die in that condition. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17). Some people try to cover up their sins rather than get rid of them; but the Bible says that when you’re really saved, you become brand new. We have to be truth believers. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32).
Some people will not live in that truth; and they just can’t seem to stop fighting and arguing, not even with their mates. Angel and I never argued or fought; we talked things out and prayed things out. We loved each other, and we weren’t about to hinder God. I didn’t marry Angel to argue with her. People will say, “I can’t control myself”; but that just means they need God. It’s impossible to be saved and have no control over your spirit. When you get saved, you take Jesus and His divine blood into your heart; then you have control.
Before I got saved, I had a ferocious temper; but when I got saved, God gave me complete control over it. God didn’t take my temper away because He knew I would need to use it against the devil. Don’t get mad at people; get mad at the devil that’s working in them. The devil is the one that causes people to get angry, and then they become like him. Jesus told one group of people, Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do (John 8:44).
Believe in Miracles
Do you believe God will do what He said He will do? He said a believer would lay hands on the sick, and they absolutely would get well. And these signs shall follow them that believe…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18). Some people will come to get hands laid on them, but they don’t really believe they’ll get well. Others only want to be slain in the Spirit. If people just want a touch, they need to say so. It’s ridiculous for me to pray for them to receive a miracle when they’re not even looking to receive. Don’t ask God for one thing and expect another.
The Bible is full of miracles; it’s a miracle Book for people today if they will only believe. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). He is God means He’s Lord Almighty over everything. He has done and will do everything He has promised or the truth is not in Him.
No one can walk in doubt and still walk with God. Doubt breeds fear, and fear prevents people from receiving their miracles. Some Christians have fear, and they’re not even conscious of it. Some may be afraid they’re going to die or that they’re not saved when they are. Others may be afraid that they don’t have the real Holy Ghost when they do. The devil can worry people to death about anything.
Have the Mind of Christ
The devil can’t touch your soul if you’re a child of God, but he can torment your mind. What kind of mind do you have today? Is it the mind of Jesus? His is a sound mind. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). Look into the mirror of the Word and see if you have a sound mind like Jesus had. You’ll find everything in the Bible that was in the mind of Christ. Some people don’t have the mind of Christ, but they have a big imagination. They say that God tells them certain things or that He gives them messages for others. It’s dangerous when you fool around with God and say things that He didn’t say.
Some people claim to have visions from God when they aren’t from God at all. Every vision must be taken to the Word of God; and if it’s a true vision from the Lord, you’ll walk back into that vision in living reality at the proper time.
You must take note of everything in one of God’s visions because every detail is very important, and the Lord will never allow the devil to exactly copy one of His visions. If there are draperies or pieces of upholstered furniture in the vision, look at the design of the fabric. If there are chairs, count how many there are; and if there’s a car, note what color it is.
The devil is going to try to copy that vision from God, and that has deceived many people. Some who have actually had a vision from the Lord have believed the devil’s copycat version, and that has caused them to get ahead of God. They have gotten so excited when they thought the vision was coming to pass; but when it didn’t work out, they threw up their hands and lost everything. If the devil could deceive the perfect man and woman, then he can deceive anyone who gives over to him.
Fed by Birds
Ahab was one who was very deceived, and when Elijah told him, Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word (I Kings 17:1), he didn’t believe it. Would you have been an Ahab or would you have been an Elijah? When it didn’t rain, would you have worried yourself to death or would you have believed God to supply your need? Elijah trusted the Lord to take care of him; and God sent him over by a brook where he would have water, and the ravens would feed him. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook (I Kings 17:6).
I like to think that those birds got the food from Ahab’s smokehouse. They could have flown right in the window, snatched the meat and taken off with it. When the brook ran dry, the Lord sent Elijah to the widow woman’s house where He performed the great miracle of supply we have already studied.
You Must Believe
It’s time for us to believe God for all things—you can’t believe only at certain times and not at others. You don’t always have to understand; just put your hand in His, and that’s all you need to do. The Lord is leading you on to Rapture ground, so don’t ever be discouraged when you don’t get what you’ve asked for. I always tell the Lord, “If I ever ask for anything that’s not your divine will, don’t answer my prayer.” That way, if God doesn’t answer a prayer, I know it’s because it’s not His will; and I don’t worry about it. I just thank God for looking out for me, and that’s the way we should all feel.
The Bible teaches us not to boast about what we’re going to do on tomorrow but to seek to do the Lord’s will. Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil (James 4:13-16).
The disciples had a hard time always believing God. On that stormy night when Jesus came to them walking the waters, they thought it was a spirit. It was easier for them to believe that a spirit could walk the waters than it was for them to believe that Jesus could. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid (Matthew 14:25-27). When you have the faith of Heaven, you believe in the real Jesus, not a spirit.
I don’t see a spirit when I see Jesus; I see Him just as clearly as I see you. In this final hour, it’s hard to tell all the things God will show members of the bridal company; but true children of God must never go into fanaticism. Truth will keep you on the straight and narrow road.
The Gift of Discerning
When God gave me the gift of discerning of spirits, He told me not to question any other minister about that gift. I was to ask only Him, and He would give me answers. If there were any manifestations in my services that I didn’t understand, He said He would explain them to me. I could walk out on the platform and ask God how many devil-possessed people were in the congregation that night, and He would number them for me; He would even tell me where they were. After a while, however, I didn’t want to know about the devil-possessed people because some of them didn’t want to be delivered; and that wasn’t a good feeling.
While receiving the gift of discerning, I was with the Lord day and night. Although I wasn’t fasting, I ate very little. I was in the presence of God, and I had unbelievable strength; so I needed to eat and sleep very little. At times, He’d let me go to sleep for an hour or so before waking me up to teach me more.
During that same visitation, I saw the unbelievable and the miraculous; and I never doubted any of it. I saw twisted limbs become like melted wax, and the power of God straightened them out. I even saw Him put eyes in empty sockets. When I told other ministers what I had seen, they thought I was crazy; and one of them said, “You’ve stayed away with God and fasted and prayed so much that your mind has gone bad.” If he’d have said that I’d stayed away with the devil, that statement may have made sense; but he knew that I lived close to God, and no one will lose their mind by living close to Him.
Much later, the Lord began to use my mind like He had told me He would. He began to let me know His very thoughts, and then I knew our time was short. That was one of the great prophecies God had given me, and I’d walked many a mile in faith to receive its fulfillment. The Lord also let me know that I would lead people in this final hour just as Moses had. I was astounded beyond words, and I still am. I feel so humble in His holy presence.
There’s nothing great about me, and I have no ego. I don’t seek money for myself; I only need it to win souls. My eyes are fixed on one goal—to win the lost at any cost. I cry again and again, “Lord, give me souls or let me die.” I have no desire to stay on Earth when I can no longer win souls. I love people so much because the Lord has given me the same compassion that took Him to Calvary…and we all can have it.
A Life-Changing Miracle
God marked me many years ago with a wonderful miracle. I went to the edge of the grave, and it looked like I would die for sure. I had started preaching at eighteen; and at twenty-three, I was dying. I was getting worse all the time, and more of my organs were becoming afflicted. I had such pain in my stomach, my chest, my heart and my lungs; I was a mess! It was like I was shut up in a room with no doors or windows, and I couldn’t find a way out. I just couldn’t understand why God would let me die; but I was determined that if I was going to die, I’d die in the pulpit.
In a service I was conducting in Florida, I was in such great pain that I was holding onto the Bible stand for support. Then suddenly, a little, godly woman who had preached for years stood up shaking all over; and she gave out a prophecy that the Lord was going to heal me. I accepted that message with all faith; but when the pain came back, I failed to hold onto that prophecy; and I let the light go out of it.
God told me that all the light of Heaven is in each of His prophecies; so when the Lord gives you a prophecy, you have to hold onto it. I didn’t do that; and later, God let me know what had happened. In the meantime, I had to pay a price for letting the light go out. I had received the miracle, but instead I struggled as I got worse and worse. But thank God, Jesus did come one night; and He made me whole all over. I was completely healed of everything! I realize now that I had to go through all of that so I could teach others about how the devil works and be able to believe for anyone to be healed.
This Is the Last Hour
The Lord is doing all kinds of unbelievable things today. He promised in His Word that this time would come. For I will work a work in your days which ye will not believe, though it be told you (Habakkuk 1:5). Years ago, the Lord carried me away in the Spirit and showed me this hour; so I know it’s going to get greater. This is just the beginning of greater signs, wonders, miracles and healings.
Jesus said, This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:14). This Gospel must be preached and taught to all nations, and it has to be confirmed or it’s no good. When I preach the truth in my overseas crusades, the Lord confirms it as people are healed by the thousands and delivered from false doctrine, witchcraft, voodoo and many other darknesses of the devil.
We have to win the lost because the glorious morn is on its way. When the Bride is taken out, it will be one of the greatest events that Heaven will have ever witnessed; and when we land on the streets of Glory, the Bride of Christ will be home at last! Hallelujah!
Receive the Holy Ghost
If you don’t have the Holy Ghost, you have to get Him or you won’t make the one flight out. The Lord has told me three different times that those who are living when Jesus comes will have to have the Holy Ghost to make the Rapture. The Lord also explained to me that the Rapture would not be death as some people have taught. He said that by the time death would stretch out a hand toward a child of God, he or she would already be changed and lifted into the air.
Do you believe that you’ll be changed in a moment and a twinkling of an eye? Do you believe that you have Rapture power, the power of the Holy Ghost, moving on the inside of you? If you do, it should make you want to shout! The Bible tells us to rejoice evermore (I Thessalonians 5:16). Rejoice over all the good things and stop looking at bad things and people who aren’t right. The Bible says, Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace (Psalm 37:37). I don’t spend time looking at people who are doing wrong. The Lord doesn’t look at them with any love or favor, so why do you let them bother you? I like to see those who love the Lord and are doing right before Him.
You Can Be Healed
The Psalmist said, Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Psalm 103:2,3). So many people say the days of miracles are over, but that’s not true. There will be miracles until the Rapture takes place because the latter rain is coming down! You should be ready to receive any miracle you need, and you can have one right now. I’m not your healer; Jesus is your healer, but His gifts of healing are in my life. I can’t operate them myself; the Holy Ghost operates them through me. Lord, here they are. Heal them of AIDS, leukemia or any kind of cancer. Heal them of leprosy and re-create their hearts and their lungs. Heal their little, deformed children and give a whole brain to those born with just part of one. In the name of Jesus, heal the people of strokes and of any other diseases they may have. Heal! in the name of the Lord. Heal! Now, let His power flow into you.
Be Made New
You who are unsaved, say this prayer right now because God can cut your breath off at any time; no one can breathe without God. When God withdraws Himself, a person is dead. The soul takes its flight, and it either goes to Heaven or hell; there is no in-between, so let the Lord save your soul right now. Oh, God, save my soul! I’m so sorry I sinned against you, but I won’t do it anymore. I confess my faith in Jesus Christ. I know He died for me, and I know without a doubt that there is wonder-working power in the blood of the Lamb to wash away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, you can say, Hallelujah, Jesus is mine!
Write and let me know what happened to you today, and I’ll rejoice with you. Lift up your voice and tell your family and friends about your miracle, and tell the world that you’re living free from all sin. God bless you is my prayer!
Thus Saith the Lord
Thus saith the Lord, I am here for you. I have come down to you and all things are possible if you’ll only believe. Why would you doubt me? What have I done to cause you to have one particle of doubt, saith the Lord? What have I done against you? I am your helper, I am your life, I am your strength; and my Son went to Calvary for you. Only believe the deliverance of Calvary and the power of the Upper Room. Only believe!
I am here to bring miracles and healings to you so you can serve others. I have come down to you; oh, glory be to God! This is your hour of revelation, your hour of greatness and goodness and your hour of mercy. This is your hour!
