Jesus said, In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33). Jesus warned that tribulations and disappointments would come, so you can expect them. This world is not a heavenly society; it is corrupt with sin and deceit.

Paul called the devil the prince and power of the air. He wrote, Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2). Paul also wrote, For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).

Life in this world is spiritual warfare for a child of God, and being at war is not easy. That’s why Paul went on to write, Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17). Every child of God is to wear that armor every day.

Disappointments Will Come

You must fully comprehend and come to grips with the fact that you are at war every day. It is time to reason with God and temper your expectations for this life because everything will not go according to your plan no matter how close you live to God.

As a child of God, you are just a pilgrim and a stranger on this Earth; and you are just passing through. Like Abraham, you’re to be seeking a heavenly country and a city whose builder and maker is God. For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10).

This world is filled with all kinds of disappointments. Some may not be so bad while others will be severe and terrible. People can disappoint you. Even those you love and trust may disappoint you through hurt, betrayal or deceit. Life itself can be a disappointment when your goals and desires go unrealized and unfulfilled. Your course can be altered unexpectedly and dramatically due to circumstances that are unfair or events that are beyond your control.

The past can be a disappointment. People often come to a point late in life where they look back, and they are filled with regret. They wish they had lived their life differently, made better choices or treated people better. Some are disappointed in what they made of their relationship with God and how they treated Him. Perhaps they had a lack of love and devotion or service to Him. They are disappointed when they come to the end of life’s journey that they did not do more to please God and serve Jesus to others.

Disappointment Brings Failure

At some time or another, everyone experiences disappointments. That’s why it is important for every child of God to understand how to face them and rise above them victoriously. You can’t always try to avoid them or hide from them, and you can’t just give in and be defeated by them. Many children of God have suffered needlessly because they could not rise above the disappointments in their life. Some have even failed God because of them by stepping out of His will, blaming Him and ultimately losing their salvation.

Disappointment can breed discouragement, and that can cause people to lose faith in God or doubt His love for them. Disappointment can fuel anger and bitterness towards God or other people, but a person should never blame God for their troubles. Sin, the devil and selfish humanity are to blame for the sorrows of this life, not God. Sin is why death rules over this civilization. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death (James 1:15).

When a loved one dies and goes to Heaven, it takes God’s love and faith for those left here on Earth to overcome the disappointment of that separation. In such a time as that, it’s important for loved ones to remember that it is because of Jesus Christ and His sacrifice at Calvary that their loved one is safe in Heaven and that they have an opportunity to see that person again. Then they will never be separated again.

Live in God’s Will

Disappointments may not cause you to fail God; but if they are not handled properly, they can cause you to let up on your devotion to God. They can take the heart out of you, so you don’t pray as much. You’re not eager to spend time in His presence, study the Word or fast to draw closer to Him.

Disappointments can keep you out of the house of God and separate you from the family of God. Disappointments can contaminate your spirit and mind and rob you of God’s peace, joy and love. Then those things will be replaced with frustration, fear and despair, which will make you spiritually weaker.

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried [proven to be true]: he is a buckler [shield] to all those that trust in him (Psalm 18:30). The Lord is a shield and a protector to all those who trust Him. God’s way is perfect. Do you believe that? Do you really trust God?

You must never be disappointed with the will of God. When you come to a fork in your road of life and you want to go right but God says go left, do you trust Him; or do you reason within yourself and go your own way? Do you believe that God’s will and way are perfect for you even though you may not understand?

God knows us better than we know ourselves, and He has the power to see into our future when we cannot. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:9).

When you live in God’s perfect will, you can be at ease no matter what you face in life. Whatever disappointment comes your way, you can rise above it in victory because God said so. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28).

Jesus said to the Father, Not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:42). If every child of God could speak that same thing from their heart and mean it, they would have total victory over every disappointment in their life.

The Early Church Overcame

Another great way to rise above disappointments is found in this short, simple verse: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth (Colossians 3:2). It’s simple to understand, yet it carries deep meaning. Study it and let it sink deep in your spirit so you can understand completely what it’s telling you. There is victory over disappointments in that one small verse.

The Early Church disciples did exactly what is contained in that verse—they kept their eyes on Jesus because in their society at that time, joining the church of Jesus meant betrayal, which brought about persecution and even death. Those Early Church disciples had to be ready and willing to give all for the sake of Christ.

Jesus warned His followers what would come in the future when they started the church. He told them, Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues. And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved (Matthew 10:16,17,21,22). Does that sound like an easy life? The Apostle Paul wrote, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter (Romans 8:36).

The Early Church rose above great disappointments by the power of Christ they received from being rooted and grounded in divine love. Paul said, Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:37-39). If you possess divine love and have it rooted deep within you, no disappointment you face in this life will ever separate you from God.

Paul Overcame Disappointment

The Apostle Paul shared with the Corinthians how, as he journeyed from city to city, an angel sent by Satan followed him continually and stirred up trouble, confusion and great persecution wherever he went. Paul told them that he prayed for deliverance from that angel of Satan three different times. Then he finally received this answer from God: My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9).

Do you think that was the answer Paul was looking for? He could have been sorely disappointed in that answer and in God to the point of stopping his ministry and walking away. Why?—because by that answer, he understood that the persecutions and troubles would keep coming; and many of his persecutions were severe. But Paul was not disappointed because he deeply loved God and trusted Him completely. Can the same thing be said of you?

Paul was so deeply rooted in divine love that he looked for the good in that revelation from God. Then he found that by God’s grace, he would have the strength to rise above every disappointment he would face at that time and in the future. Instead of focusing on his disappointments and weaknesses in difficult times, he looked for the power of Christ to flow to him through God’s grace.

Paul continued, Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong (II Corinthians 12:9,10). It is not human nature to take pleasure in such things, so that was faith talk. Paul trusted God with his whole heart and did not shy away from his disappointments. He faced them knowing the power of Christ was his to give him victory over them.

Are You Disappointing God?

The revelation Paul received should show every child of God that you cannot pray away your disappointments. Life is not easy, and that is why our Heavenly Father expects His children to grow up spiritually and endure hardness as good soldiers of the Cross. He expects us to be overcomers by using everything He has provided through His grace and the divine blood of Jesus spilled at Calvary. We are commissioned to serve the Lord and build His Kingdom regardless of the opposition and spiritual warfare we face.

The Bible is filled with disappointments God has endured. Have you ever considered them? For thousands of years, humanity has caused God so much trouble and grief. Rather than being wrapped up in your own disappointments, examine your life to see whether or not it is disappointing to God. Consider your lifestyle, your words and how much you really obey Him.

Paul said, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's (I Corinthians 6:19,20). It’s one thing to say you are not your own, but do you live like it?

Always Please God

One great way to make sure you are putting God first is by not considering yourself. You are to be a servant of the Lord; so instead of allowing yourself to become disappointed, use divine love and strive to please God and never disappoint Him. When you focus on pleasing God, what happens to you won’t matter; and it will become easier to rise above your disappointments. Live by faith and know God will take care of you. Then take care to please Him.

The Bible tells us that Enoch pleased God, and the Lord took him to Heaven alive. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God (Hebrews 11:5).

The Bible doesn’t say anything about Enoch’s disappointments, troubles or trials. In fact, it says very little about Enoch’s life; but it says enough for us to understand why God raptured him to Heaven. Those three words “he pleased God” says it all.

When those three words can be said of you, you will be on your way to Rapture ground. Your focus needs to be on pleasing God and not on pleasing self, family or other people. Neither can you focus on your disappointments. Jesus said, Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man (Luke 21:36).

Job Endured Great Disappointment

I want to take you to the Bible to examine how certain people handled disappointments. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil (Job 1:8)? Satan severely tested Job, and he faced many disappointments. His cattle were stolen; his servants were killed; his sheep were destroyed by fire, and all of his children were killed at one time. After all of that, Job was smitten with boils from head to toe.

Have you ever allowed the Holy Spirit to usher you back in time and put you in the shoes of Job? How would you have responded to such trying circumstances? Surely, none of us have ever faced a trial like that; yet through it all, Job’s heart was full of God’s love. His mind was girded with truth; and he declared, Though he [God] slay me, yet will I trust in him (Job 13:15). Does that sound like a man defeated by disappointment? No.

Now, Job’s wife did bow to all the disappointments, and she was defeated. She couldn’t handle all that was happening; and she told Job, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die (Job 2:9). But Job didn’t do that. He rose above it all and declared, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly (Job 1:21,22).

Job endured by trusting God completely. Then God took all the bad things that had happened and worked them for good. God raised up Job in victory and blessed him much above what he had had before. Job’s life proved Satan wrong, and his story has been a blessing to children of God for thousands of years.

Elijah Gave in to Disappointment

If you don’t look to the Lord and rise above life’s disappointments, you’re subject to say or do things that are displeasing to God when you’re in the heat of the moment and lack understanding. Then sooner or later, you will regret it.

There was a time when the prophet Elijah momentarily gave in to disappointment. He had recently won a great victory for God, killing 450 prophets of Baal; but when Jezebel, the Queen of Israel, found out about it, she sent a messenger to Elijah to tell him she was going to have him killed. Although Elijah was a prophet of God, he was still a man; and he was physically and mentally weakened from killing all those men. So when he heard the message from Jezebel, he fled for the wilderness.

Elijah believed there was no one left in Israel serving God. He thought they were all serving Baal; and he said to God as he sat under a juniper tree, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life (I Kings 19:4).

Fortunately, Elijah lived close to God, and God knew his heart; so He did not answer Elijah’s prayer of disappointment. Instead, God sent an angel to cook for him, provide him water and watch over him as he slept. Then Elijah arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God (I Kings 19:8).

God spoke to Elijah on that mountain and cleared his mind. Then God revealed to him that 7000 people in Israel still served God, and He sent Elijah forth to do His will. At the end of Elijah’s life, God took the bad that had taken place and worked it for good because Elijah did not die as he had requested. Instead, God took him to Heaven alive in a chariot of fire. And it came to pass, as they [Elijah and Elisha] still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven (II Kings 2:11).

Naaman Wanted His Way

Here is the key to overcoming disappointments and being victorious: Trust and obey God, and He will turn your disappointments into victory. It’s as simple as that. Disappointment almost cost Naaman, the leper, his miracle. Naaman was the captain of the host of Syria, and he went to the prophet Elisha seeking a miracle for his leprosy.

When Naaman arrived, Elisha would not even come to the door to see him. Instead, he sent a messenger to give Naaman instructions saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean (II Kings 5:10).

Unfortunately, Naaman had other ideas about how his miracle should take place. He was a man of leadership and authority who was used to getting his own way, and it showed that day because Naaman refused to obey those instructions. Instead, Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage (II Kings 5:11, 12).

Fortunately for Naaman, his servants reasoned with him and convinced him to obey Elijah’s instructions. When he did, the miracle took place; and his attitude suddenly changed. People have been robbed of so many blessings, miracles and healings because their minds were fixed on a certain way that God should move for them instead of trusting in God and letting Him work His way.

You Can Overcome

There are many people in the world today just like Naaman who think they know better than God and want their own way. They might not confess it verbally, but their actions speak loud and clear. Rather than waiting upon the Lord and His will, they take matters into their own hands; and that’s when trouble starts. Then they blame God when He had nothing to do with it.

As a child of God, you are a free moral agent; and your free choice does not end at Calvary. It continues until you enter into eternity. If you choose to submit to the will of God for your life, you can be assured that God will take responsibility when tribulation comes against you. He will enable you to rise above those disappointments and work it for good.

If you choose to take matters into your own hands and make your own choices and decisions, don’t blame God when trouble comes. He takes no responsibility for your decisions.

As a man, Jesus faced many tribulations and troubles. He was the Son of God, and He was holy, pure and well-pleasing to the Father; yet Isaiah said this of His life: He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed [received] him not (Isaiah 53:3). Yes, Jesus was disappointed again and again, but He overcame it all.

Through Jesus Christ and His divine sacrifice of blood, you can overcome no matter what comes your way. There will be many troubles, tribulations and disappointments in this life; but when you trust and obey Jesus, you can be of good cheer knowing that you have His power available to you to rise above it all.

Salvation Is the First Step

Friend, have you been disappointed with your life? Has it not been what you expected it to be? Maybe your life has been so disappointing that you’re thinking of committing suicide. I am here to tell you that through Jesus Christ and His divine blood, those disappointments can be broken and, in due season, turned into victories. Only through Jesus can you be saved and have all your needs supplied.

Pray this prayer with me now and give Jesus a chance in your life. Let Him do for you what no other power can do. Say, Oh, God, save my soul. Forgive me for all of my sins. I have failed you, God, and I am so sorry; but I won’t fail you anymore because I have come home. And I believe there’s power in the blood of your Son, Jesus, that will wash away all of my sins and deliver me from the disappointments in my life. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come in. Amen.

Friend, if you meant that prayer, Jesus is yours; and He promised never to leave you nor forsake you. He promised to take all of your burdens and give you rest unto your soul.

With the gift of salvation, you are now eligible to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, the third person in the Trinity of the Godhead, just as the disciples did on the Day of Pentecost. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).

Get off to yourself and lift up your hands before the Lord and start praising Him. Praise Him and glorify Him with your whole heart, and the anointing will move in. Keep praising Him until the Holy Ghost comes in and baptizes you. He will take over your tongue and speak through you in another language.

Receive Healing for Your Body

Now, by the power in the divine blood, you can be healed in your body. The Bible says, They [believers] shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:18). That is such a simple instruction, so why do people try to add to it? Jesus didn’t say many words would have to be spoken as a hand was laid upon you. He didn’t say how long the hand had to be there or mention that once the hand was laid upon you, you would have no more pain or symptoms. You have to take Jesus at His Word.

After you have hands laid upon you according to the Word of God, don’t be disappointed if you have another pain or symptom. Don’t question God, and don’t let the devil rob you. Understand that God may be testing your faith, so trust His Word; and you will recover. It’s all through the blood.

Friend, I am the Lord’s believer, and I am ready to agree with you for whatever you need. Put your trust in Jesus and obey His Word. Raise your hand as a form of laying on of hands while I pray. Lord, in the name of Jesus, I bring the people before you. Lord, many are sick in body or have a bondage in their life that they have not been able to be free of, but we know there is total freedom and liberty through the power in the blood of Jesus. Through that blood, there is healing and life. Lord, in the holy, blood name of Jesus, I call healing to the people now. Heal! in the blood name of Jesus. Heal! Lord, let your healing virtue from the blood flow to the people now. According to your Word, make them well for your honor and glory; and make them a testimony for you, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Friend, watch every sign of improvement whether they are immediate or in the future and glorify God as you recover. Praise Jesus for the blood and for the promises of healing and deliverance. Then be a testimony and a witness for Him.

We would also like you to let us know what God has done for you. You can write, call, email or post a message to social media. We will rejoice in the Lord with you.
