Goodbye God
by Ernest Angley
October 2008
The message contained in this book was ordained by God Himself. I hope its truth will sink deep into your heart, and I pray you’ll never get away from it.
I once heard a story about a little farm boy whose family was moving away to Chicago. The day before he left, he went around the farm saying goodbye to all the animals. Then he took hold of the old pump handle and said, “Goodbye, old pump.” He had pumped water out of that well many times. When he got down to pray that night he said, “Goodbye God; I’m leaving in the morning.”
This little story may sound somewhat amusing, but unfortunately there are many people today who treat God the same way as the little boy did; they just do it on a much more drastic scale. When you say Goodbye God, you’re in deep trouble; but those who say it in arrogance are in even deeper trouble and in danger of blaspheming against the Holy Ghost. In this final hour, God will let them go. Don’t say Goodbye God; He wants you to be with Him for eternity in Heaven.
A Walk of Faith
For forty years God had prepared Moses to deliver the Children of Israel. He had been given God’s gifts of miracles and healings as well as the mighty power of the heavenly mantle and the miracle rod of truth. Moses brought a nation out of a nation through the mighty power of God. And the power continued to get greater and greater as Moses lifted up the rod of truth, and God separated the waters of the Red Sea. The promise of deliverance went into operation with mighty power. And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left (Exodus 14:21,22).
Pharaoh’s army was the greatest of its day, and it was pursuing Israel to destroy them. They especially wanted to kill Moses. And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians. And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left (Exodus 14:23-29).
God allowed the Egyptian army to enter the dry bed of the Red Sea, and then He drowned all of the soldiers as the waters closed in over them. The Israelites had walked through that passage by faith, but the Egyptians had walked by sight. Although it’s estimated that the walk across was twelve miles and the waters were eighty feet deep, nearly four million Israelites made the crossing on dry land. It was a great, miraculous time; but things soon changed.
Terrified by God’s Voice
God had done wonderful things for the Children of Israel, and now they were at Mount Sinai. When the Israelites got to Sinai, the Lord told Moses to sanctify the people and make them holy because He was coming down. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai. And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice (Exodus 19:10,11,17-19).
They made preparations, and God came down. The whole mountain was shaking as the voice of God spoke, and it frightened the Israelites. And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die (Exodus 20:18,19). It was Goodbye God.
God called Moses to climb Mount Sinai, and he stayed there in the Lord’s presence for forty days and nights. He didn’t return until he had the Ten Commandments written by the finger of God Himself. He didn’t need to eat during that time because he was in the presence of God and living in divinity.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount. And the glory of the LORD abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights (Exodus 24:12,15-18).
In the meantime, the people didn’t know what had happened to Moses; and they decided to make a golden calf. Although they knew better, they worshiped the golden calf just like many of them had done in Egypt. They wanted that calf to lead them back to Egypt because they no longer wanted to go on to the land of Canaan with all the promises of God. They said goodbye to Moses, and again they said Goodbye God.
They Died in the Wilderness
The Israelites turned from God with such arrogance. They hated Moses for bringing them out of Egyptian bondage—even after all the miracles they had seen. They said, Goodbye God; we don’t want you, and thousands of them died. With the exception of Caleb and Joshua, all those twenty years and older died in the wilderness because God wouldn’t let them go into the land of Canaan.
Later, we find that when Jeroboam was king, he set up two idols in two different cities. Whereup on the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold, and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan. And this thing became a sin: for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan (I Kings 12:28-30). Nearly all the people followed Jeroboam in worshiping those two false gods. Once again Israel said Goodbye God, and they continued to say it over and over again.
A Prophet in the Land!
For a period of time there wasn’t a true prophet in the land until Elijah came on the scene. He had the message, the power and the mantle; and he was ready to use them all. Read what he told King Ahab: As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word (I Kings 17:1). Ahab mocked and laughed at him because he didn’t believe him. He didn’t think a man could have that kind of power.
But just as Elijah had said, the rain stopped; and during the famine, the crops dried up and the fertile land became desolate. Ahab searched everywhere for Elijah, but God had sent him to a brook, and it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook (I Kings 17:4,6).
The Lord Blesses His Own
When the brook dried up, the Lord sent Elijah to a widow’s house where he was going to perform a great miracle for her and her son. When he arrived, she was getting ready to bake the last little cake before she and her son would die. Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah (I Kings 17:9-16). The devastating famine in the land was brought about because Israel had turned its back on God. In all their actions the people said Goodbye God. They wanted no part of Him. It’s dreadful what Israel did to God, and they suffered for it.
Jezebel Brought Contamination to Israel
Ahab had married Jezebel, a heathen, and she brought Baal worship into the land of God’s people. God despised her so much that He put forth this prophecy concerning her. And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her (II Kings 9:10). The prophecy came true.
Jehu was anointed to be king and to cut off the house of Ahab. He came to the tower where Jezebel was, and he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. And he said, Throw her [Jezebel] down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot. And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter. And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands. Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel: And the carcass of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel (II Kings 9:32-37).
Christ Is Our Only Salvation
When you say Goodbye God, there is no Heaven for you and no Son of God to save you. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). No other foundation but His can be laid. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 3:11). You can’t come to God unless you’re drawn by His Holy Spirit; Jesus said so when He was here. No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:44). And that’s the way it is today. Many people have said Goodbye God in their arrogance and continued to do whatever they pleased. When you say Goodbye God you might as well say Hello Hell because that’s where you’re going.
He Lifted Up His Eyes in Hell
You who are reading this message must know that when you say Goodbye God hell is sure to be your destiny. In hell you will lift up your eyes just like the rich man did who Jesus told about in Luke chapter 16. He wouldn’t accept the Gospel message that had been sent to him in the form of a beggar covered with sores. The rich man wouldn’t even let the beggar eat the scraps that fell from his table. There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented (Luke 16:19-25).
While he was alive, the rich man wouldn’t help the poor beggar. In hell, however, he himself wanted help; but selfishly, he only wanted help for himself and his five brothers. He wanted Lazarus to warn them about the hell he hadn’t believed in and the God he hadn’t cared about. Now he wants to say, Hello, God; I need you. Let Lazarus dip his finger in water and cool my tongue because I’m tormented in this flame. But he didn’t get any help; he had already said Goodbye God.
Eaten Up with Lust
Look how greatly God blessed Solomon; he had riches and wisdom beyond anyone else. What did Solomon do? He disobeyed God. God had instructed him not to take foreign women for brides, that it would be a sin against his God; but Solomon in his lust said Goodbye God And Solomon had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father (I Kings 11:3,4). We don’t know whether or not he ever got right with God, but that should be a warning to all of us.
When you commit willful sin, you’re saying Goodbye God and turning your back on Him. What is willful sin?—Knowing something is a sin, yet doing it anyway; you just don’t care. I knew a man years ago who was a great leader in his church, but lust ruined him. At one time, he was after one of the young girls in his church; and she asked him, “What will God think?”
“Forget about God,” he replied. I was shocked when I heard what he had said. People had respected him and never imagined he could do such a thing, but he turned out to be nothing more than a hypocrite. He had said Goodbye God Thankfully, I heard that he did get back to God years later.
His Destiny Written on the Wall
The Lord wrote the destiny of Belshazzar, king of Babylon, on the wall. Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand. Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein. Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another (Daniel 5:1-6).
Belshazzar thought he could do whatever he wanted. He knew about his grandfather, Nebuchadnezzar, and how the Lord had taken away his human mind and replaced it with the mind of an animal. His human mind was completely gone, and he ate grass like an ox for seven years. After those years, the Lord forgave him; and He removed the animal heart and restored his human heart. Nebuchadnezzar glorified and praised the Lord God Almighty and finally recognized God to be the Creator, the supreme God of the whole universe. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase (Daniel 4:34,37). Although Belshazzar knew all of this, he still came to the throne full of sin, lust and arrogance. He had said Goodbye God and when judgment fell, the accusation was the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified (Daniel 5:23).
Many are like Belshazzar today. They won’t glorify God. They’ve turned their backs on Him saying, Goodbye God. I don’t need you, and I don’t even believe in you! I don’t believe in your Holy Spirit; I don’t believe in your Only Begotten Son, and I don’t believe in hell. They’ll all be believers one day; there will be no unbelievers in hell. They will still have their ugly characteristics and traits, but they will be believers. Jesus told them when He was here on Earth that the devil was their father and that they lied just like he did. He was a liar from the beginning and the father of lies. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it (John 8:44). The Lord didn’t spare them. He hated the hypocrite but He loved the sinner. Sinners came to Jesus, but the hypocrites had their backs turned to God; and He didn’t want them.
The Unforgivable Sin
There is a sin for which there is no forgiveness, and Jesus was the first to talk about it. Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come (Matthew 12:31,32). In all my travels, I’ve met many people who didn’t know what the unforgivable sin was, even though it’s mentioned right here in the Bible. Those who commit it will never be saved no matter how much they cry and pray. There is no forgiveness for it in this life or in the life to come.
He Fell by Transgression
Think about Judas…he was with Jesus for nearly three years, walking and talking with Him. At one time, Judas was given power as one of the twelve disciples to heal the sick and to cast out devils. The Bible tells us that one devil can’t cast out another devil, so Judas had to have been righteous; but then he died. Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place (Acts 1:25). Judas said, Goodbye God; I don’t want you. Goodbye Jesus; I don’t want you. Judas sold out Jesus and eternal life for thirty pieces of silver, and today most people sell Him for nothing. Their actions say, I don’t want you. I want to have a good time and do as I please. Just leave me alone. What arrogance! What devilish conceit!
A Goodbye Kiss
Then Judas, which had betrayed him [Jesus], when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hangedhimself (Matthew 27:3-5). Judas threw down the thirty pieces of silver and went on to hang himself. Throwing down the silver didn’t save him because he had already blasphemed against God, against Jesus and against the Holy Ghost. There was no more forgiveness for him no matter how much he would have sought it. He was sorry he had betrayed the Son of God, and he told the rulers that he would return the money; but they didn’t want it. He had led the soldiers to the Garden where he knew they would find Jesus and the other disciples. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him (Matthew 26:48,49). Judas said the one he kissed would be the one they were looking for. Goodbye Jesus!
Many people today have given Jesus the goodbye kiss. They don’t want Christmas mentioned in their schools, and they don’t want their children singing Christmas carols either. They want absolutely no teaching about Jesus.
The devil makes idiots. The Bible says, The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good (Psalm 14:1). Jesus went to Golgotha to prove there is a true and living God, His Father. He’s your Father, too, if you want Him. Jesus taught the disciples, After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name (Matthew 6:9). God Almighty sits on the throne.
Like the Days of Noah and Lot
This age is about to end. God is angry, and now all kinds of calamities are occurring throughout the world. In anger, God is trying to shake people up. It’s an unbelievable time, but the Lord said it would be like this. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be (Matthew 24:38,39). Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed (Luke 17:28-30). Jesus said the latter days would be like the days of Noah and those of Sodom and Gomorrah, and those days are here. Jesus said that when you see all this taking place, you’ll know that His coming is nigh. So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors (Mark 13:29).
Saved by the Blood
Jesus is at the door, and that door could swing open at any time. He said He is coming for those who are watching for Him. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come (Matthew 24:42). Those saying goodbye to God in arrogance have been made to be idiots by the devil. They think they’re so intelligent because they’ve been to a college or university, but education will not take them to Heaven. It takes the blood of Jesus that He shed for the salvation of all, but you must accept it into your heart. Nothing but the blood of Jesus can wash away your sins and make you whole again.
When people reject the blood, they are also rejecting God. Many churches today are doing away with the blood; they say they don’t believe in a bloody salvation, and they don’t want it. They are saying, Goodbye Jesus. We don’t want you, and we don’t want your Father, either. We don’t want to be in the family of God. The only way you can become a son or daughter of God is through divine blood; it must be in your soul. Neither church membership nor water baptism will wash away sins.
A New Life
Water baptism is an answer of a clear conscience toward God. You follow the Lord in water baptism, signifying that you believe Him and that you’ve given your life to His burial and resurrection. You’re buried and then raised up in newness of life. That’s what water baptism is about. But you first have to be born new in the manner that Jesus told Nicodemus—through the blood. There is no other way. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God (John 3:5). Jesus let people know He had power to forgive sins; He had divine blood in His body and in His soul. We receive divine blood into our souls when we’re born again, and one day we will have it in our glorified bodies just like Jesus does.
The Gospel Must Go to the Nations
My workers and I go to nation after nation taking the Gospel of holy living in Jesus Christ. We visit schools, and the doors are opened wide to the Word of God. We help people who are in witchcraft and voodooism and other darknesses of the devil, and they don’t object to their children being taught the ways of Jesus and that He is the Savior of the world. We take the Gospel into prisons and hospitals, and we pray for the sick. Nurses, doctors and even the heads of the hospitals will request prayer. At the police stations, the officers often line up for prayer. They want Jesus; they want His power, and they feel the need of that power to take death out of their bodies.
We teach people in the crusade services that the power of God can take death out of their bodies and out of their souls; and they come to the Lord by the thousands. The tour group goes out into the cities and villages during the day to plant the seeds of the Gospel, and they reap the harvest everywhere they go. In the services at night, we sweep thousands more into the Kingdom; it’s indeed a miracle time. In the past, missionaries would travel to different nations and remain there for years and only win a very few souls. Now, we go and win thousands in just moments of time. It’s marvelous!
But so many people in America are like Demas; they love the world. Paul wrote, For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica (II Timothy 4:10). John said, Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world (I John 2:15,16). People must separate from the world; but most today are in the world church rather than in the Jesus church. They have denied the power of God and said, Goodbye God. We don’t want your power.
They Trample the Blood Underfoot
Years ago, one particular denomination started this falling away from Christ by recalling their hymnals and removing every song that mentioned the blood of Jesus. What a disgrace! The old hymns tell the beautiful story of the blood of Jesus, and the missionaries used to teach the blood of Jesus; but the world church has taken over. People have become so deceived by the devil; they drink the devil’s brew, do whatever they please and pay no attention to the seventeen works of the flesh that we read about in the fifth chapter of Galatians. They aren’t interested in the fruits of the Holy Spirit, the power of God or the power of Jesus. In their arrogance, they are like the devil himself.
Decaying from the Inside
The United States is decaying from the inside just like the old Roman Empire did. The enemy couldn’t overtake them from the outside, but they destroyed themselves by their damnable living on the inside. The Roman Empire turned their backs on Lord God Almighty. Every nation that has done that, including Babylon, has been destroyed; and the United States is on its way to being destroyed as well.
The Rapture is going to take place, but many don’t believe it. People are turning their backs on the Gospel. If you don’t believe Jesus’ teaching about His second coming, then you must believe that He’s a false Christ. The world would like to think that Jesus is an impostor because His life condemns their sinful living in every way.
The Soul That Sinneth Shall Die
Jesus came with the cry of the Father as recorded in Ezekiel: The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:20). That was the same cry that God gave the first man and woman in Eden.
Very few churches teach freedom from sin, so very few of their members believe they must live free from sin to get to Heaven. Everyone who goes to Heaven must live by the teachings in the Bible in order to get there. You can’t enter Heaven unless your name is written in the Book of Life with the divine blood that Jesus brought. Salvation for all was born in Bethlehem when Jesus came to Earth. Look into the manger and you’ll see the Son of God, salvation and divine blood for all.
The Root of All Evil
Some people have turned their backs on God because of wealth. Money is their lord. The Bible tells us, For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows (I Timothy 6:10). We have to have money to survive on Earth, but to love money for money’s sake has sent many to hell. People will donate to charities to appear concerned about other people and to earn tax credits, and politicians will give money to get votes; but their motivations are self-centered, and they really don’t care about souls.
He heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them (Psalm 39:6). When a wealthy man dies, people right away want to know how much money he left. Well, he left it all. You don’t take anything with you into eternity. One wealthy man requested that he be buried in a gold Cadillac. As a crowd gathered to watch, one man cried out, “What a way to go!” That was a ridiculous statement! That man’s soul was in hell while his corpse decayed in a gold Cadillac. Had the man known God, he wouldn’t have thrown his money away to be buried like that. God doesn’t work that way. He would have wanted to see souls saved, to help the poor and needy and to be a blessing to the saints of God. He would have had a mind for missions.
If riches increase, set not your heart upon them (Psalm 62:10). Don’t set your heart on riches; keep your eyes on God. Jesus told us that very few rich people would get to Heaven. Remember the rich, young ruler that came to Jesus; he had kept all the commandments, but Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me (Matthew 19:21). The golden calf was the god of the rich, young ruler. He was really saying Goodbye Jesus. He loved his riches and wasn’t about to give them up.
Today, some young people reared in Christian homes are at the gates of hell. They’re arrogant and have said Goodbye God. They’ve left their parents; they want no part of God or the Gospel, and they don’t want to be troubled by their conscience. They feel they have wild oats to sow, and they want to have a good time doing what they want to do. Their attitude is, No one is going to put me in bondage. But when they land in hell, they’ll be in the worst bondage imaginable.
No Second Chance
If I had to preach a sinner’s funeral, I would never suggest in any way that the person went to Heaven; I’d just warn people not to go to hell. Today, people want to believe that all who die go to Heaven, but sinners can’t go to Heaven. The soul that sinneth shall suffer a living death in hell and then go on to the lake of fire after the great White Throne Judgment. There will be no mercy shown at the great White Throne Judgment. Those of you who have turned your back on God, on Jesus Christ and on the precious Holy Ghost, you are ready to drop into hell. Once there, you’ll never get out; there are no second chances in hell.
You must serve God and live free from sin. Jesus said, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 7:21). You have to be made holy and live a sinless life. Jesus shed His blood to make us the righteousness of God so we can live in His Heaven and be a part of His family.
Jesus used the parable of the sower who went forth to sow. Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear (Mark 4:3-9). Some seed fell on stony ground, and it looked like it would do well; but it had no roots. The persecutions came; and because the people had no power to overcome, they said Goodbye God. Jesus brought overcoming power and overcoming faith. If you don’t have Jesus, you don’t have anything. The Bible tells us, For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself (Romans 14:7).
There Is Life after Death
You’ll have to say goodbye to your loved ones one day, but hopefully they will be saved. On her deathbed, a woman’s unsaved sister said, “I’m dying without God, and there’s no hope for me.” It’s terrible that her godly sister had to live in the torment of that statement. There’s great hope when a loved one dies and you know that one is right with God. Jesus said, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25). What a great promise! We live with that great hope, and we say good night rather than goodbye to a saved loved one. We know that they live and that we will see them in the morning. We’ll meet them at that gate of Glory one day.
Mom and Dad Are in Heaven
I preached my father’s funeral, and I knew where he was so I preached it with great joy. He was eighty-six years old and out mowing the lawn when God’s call came. A neighbor told us that when she got to him, she saw a great light shining around him brighter than the sun. At the funeral, I let the people know that if they wanted to see Dad again, they could see him in Heaven; he wasn’t really dead. My unsaved brother was there, and he loved my father; he was a daddy’s boy for sure. As he leaned over Dad’s coffin, I heard him whisper, “I’ll meet you one day.” Later, my brother did get saved; he also received the good Holy Ghost and is in Heaven today. I’m sure Dad and Mom were both at the gate to welcome him home. I know I’ll meet him one day as well, and it’s wonderful to have that hope! I preached my mother’s funeral, too; and I had no doubts about her soul, either. I knew she was in Heaven with the Lord.
Jesus said, Ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins (John 8:24). Jesus was going to Heaven; and He told people that if they didn’t believe in Him, they could not go. Those who don’t live free from sin, don’t serve the Lord and don’t have divine blood in their souls will definitely die in their sins. They will never make it to Heaven because sin can’t enter there. Jesus came and died to bring salvation to all who would receive it. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 10:33). We can’t enter Heaven unless we recognize Jesus as the Son of God.
Say Goodbye to the Devil
Jesus saith unto him…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father (John 14:9). Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven (Matthew 10:32). If you confess me, Jesus said, I will confess you before the Father. Isn’t that wonderful! If you really mean business with the Lord, say this now: Goodbye, old devil. I’m through with you now and forevermore. We know the devil’s destiny, and we know who he is. Jesus identified him as God’s archenemy, and he has passed his arrogant spirit on to others. He claimed he would ascend above the most high God, but God said He would cast him down to the pits of hell. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit (Isaiah 14:13-15).
People with such arrogance are just like their father, the devil. They think they’re hurting us, but I don’t let them hurt me. I know they’re of the devil, and I look at them the same way I look at the devil. I have no burden for those who have blasphemed against the Holy Spirit. They thought it was smart to blaspheme and curse God, and they did it. They’re advertising their deceit on websites now and asking others to join them in blaspheming against God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost. I have no prayers for them. The Lord told me in a divine visitation in 1954 that this blaspheming hour would come.
Devils Can Talk
And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. And when he [Jesus] went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country. Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. They also which saw it told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed. Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again. Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him (Luke 8:26-39).
Years ago, the devils talked to me through a man whose eyes were glaring with devil power. He came to the platform and literally growled, “I’m Legion, and I’ve come to destroy you!” I threw up my hands in the name of Jesus before he got to me, and he fell like a rock on the platform. The Lord sent down His great power, and there is no greater power than that of casting out devils. Legion had thousands of devils in him, and they were cast out.
When he got up, he started running like a wild man around the auditorium as fast as he could go. That was on a Saturday night, and on Sunday he returned to testify: “Brother Angley, that wasn’t me who said that. I couldn’t help it.”
“I know you couldn’t,” I said. “That was devil talk. The devils thought they could take over the service. They were determined to destroy you.” But he was so happy to be delivered, and the congregation rejoiced because many of them had heard the devils manifest themselves the night before. Devils talk. Sometimes they speak through a person and say, You can’t cast me out! But when the Lord takes me over, He can cast them out; and He does. The devils have to come out if the person wants them out; they can’t stay if the person really wants them to go. God has gifted me with His mantle of power to deliver the devil-possessed just like Jesus delivered them when He was here. He showed us how to use His power.
The Devil Is a Robber
The Garden of Eden contained both the tree of death and the tree of life. The Lord said if you eat of the tree of death, it’s a sin and you will die. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:16,17). Sin kills, degrades and robs you of your good character. There is no such thing as good sin. Sin is ugly, and in hell it will be as ugly as the devil himself. People will finally realize that the devil caused them to sin against God, and that’s why they are in hell forever. Maybe God will allow them to see the saints in Heaven where all is well, to see the city of God and His mighty throne. They could have been there, too, but they said Goodbye God!
Only God will help you when no one else can, and only God can keep you out of hell. Only the love of God can bring you out of the pits of sin when you’re sinking on the sea of life without an anchor. Everyone must have an anchor on the sea of life; and when souls are anchored in the blood of divine faith and divine love, God can move. They won’t be cast about with every wind of false doctrine, and they won’t be intimidated by it. We try to enlighten people; but if some don’t want the light, we go on to those who do. We can’t spend a lifetime trying to get people to accept the light when they already know there is a real light of Jesus.
Don’t Go to Hell
Don’t say Goodbye God today and turn your back on the Lord. You can be free from sin, sickness, depression, oppression or any other works of the devil. The Lord came to deliver us and set us free. You who have Him have nothing to fear, but you who have turned your back on Him have everything to fear. Don’t say Goodbye God; say Hello Jesus, hello to His saving, delivering, healing blood-power.
Some of you reading this message may be in hell shortly if you don’t take heed. When you have gone beyond the arm of God and His love, you’ve sinned against Him and gone beyond forgiveness. A blasphemer is like the walking dead, and that one will walk right into hell. Think of how many people in the world died and went to hell today! They blasphemed against God and died without Him. They have no hope and never will. Some of you have said Goodbye God, but you may have done it in ignorance. Now the Lord has brought the light of God to you, and you must accept it or you may never find your way out of the night of judgment and sin.
The Lord is offering you forgiveness now. Take advantage of it by saying the sinners’ prayer: Oh, God, save my soul. I said goodbye to you. I was taught that you are the Christ; but I said goodbye, and I’m so sorry! I did it in ignorance as the Apostle Paul did. You forgave him, and I know you will forgive me! I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus, come on in! Hallelujah, He has come! Jesus is mine, and I’m free! Jesus, I’ll never turn my back on you, the heavenly Father or the Holy Spirit again.
