God Moves When the Need Is Great
by Ernest Angley
April 2012
As you read this message, I want you to be blessed more than you have ever been before—spiritually, physically and financially—and I want you to be made whole. As you go along, you must keep this scripture in mind: But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). “All” means absolutely everything!
The Lord said we’re not to worry or doubt. If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23). All you have to do is believe; but if you don’t, the Bible says not to think you’ll receive anything from the Lord. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord (James 1:6,7). Faith is all you need to bring more love, trust, grace, peace, hope and patience than you could ever use to wait upon the Lord for your needs to be supplied.
The Bible says, But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Those who wait upon the Lord will mount up with Him, and their needs will be supplied. This great Jesus ministry has been built on that promise for over 57 years, and God is still supplying our needs today as we go forth to fulfill God’s holy commission—to preach the Gospel and to build His Kingdom. The Bible tells us, And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:14). Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15).
An Ark of Safety
Mankind had become so degraded in Noah’s day that God told Noah he would have to build an ark to save himself and his family. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood…And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee…And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them. Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he (Genesis 6:13,14,17-19,21,22).
The Bible explains in Genesis chapters 7 and 8 that Noah’s family and all of the animals were on the ark for a little over a year. There was a great need on that ark because they couldn’t possibly have stored enough food on board to last that long, but God provided for them by turning their meal barrels into miracle meal barrels that never ran dry. People have tried to figure it out, but no one can explain divinity when they don’t know the Word or the great supplier—God.
We don’t have to build an ark today because Jesus is our ark, and everything we need is on board. When we partake of the divine, spiritual food on that ark, we will receive the power that supplies everything we need for our bodies. It all comes through our ark, Jesus Christ.
Feel the Need
Noah and his family knew they had a need and that God was the only one who could fulfill it. You have to know when you have a need, too, and believe that Lord God Almighty will supply it. Noah’s family believed in the ark they were building, although I’m sure the Lord didn’t tell them that it would take 120 years to finish it; but because they were pure, clean and holy, they obeyed God day by day. The Bible never mentions that any of Noah’s family got sick, so I’m sure they had plenty of the strength they needed to do their work. God supplied all they needed while they were building the ark and during the time they were on board.
People travel to my services from all over the world, and thousands attend my overseas crusades because they have a need; and they know God will supply that need. When people see God’s miracles, they’re ready to believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him. Many of them have never seen even one miracle, so they really get excited when they see many of them. Then their faith goes Heaven-high so they can receive what they need.
God brings life; and Jesus came saying, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Jesus told the woman at the well, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life (John 4:13,14).
God Gave Abraham a Son
As I study the Bible, I see the needs that people had; and I see God step in to supply those needs. Abraham had a great need of an heir, and the Lord promised him a son. The word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir. And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness (Genesis 15:1-6).
Abraham had to wait 25 years for that son; and at times, you may have to be patient and wait when God promises you something. However, you must know that when He promises you anything, He will fulfill that promise. It’s sad that some people don’t hold on to the promises of God, and they let the devil talk them out of them; but I’ll never let old Lucifer do that to me. I claim God’s promises not only for myself but for people all over the world.
Abraham and Sarah were well up in years, and many people would have given up on the promise of a son at their age; but they didn’t give up, and Isaac was born just as God had said he would be. And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age (Genesis 21:5-7).
Abraham Was Faithful
Did you know that God has needs, too? After Isaac was born, God needed a man who would be the father of the faithful and serve only Him; and Abraham was that man. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham (Galatians 3:8,9).
When Isaac was just 12 years old, God told Abraham to offer his son as a living sacrifice before Him. And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together (Genesis 22:1,2,6). In this instance, Isaac is a type of Jesus; Abraham is a type of God, and they’re both on their way to Mt. Moriah, a type of Calvary. Isaac is carrying the wood, the Cross.
And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide (Genesis 22:7,8). “God will provide” are words that need to burn in your heart and in your life just like they burn in mine because I built this Jesus work on “God will provide.”
God had not yet provided the sacrifice for Abraham, so he laid his son on the altar. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son (Genesis 22:10-13). Abraham was offering his son just as God would offer His only Son years later, but there would be no last-minute substitute for Jesus.
God Provided the Need
I built this Jesus ministry through God’s direction. When He told me to go to Akron, Ohio and establish a work for Him, I had a need because I’d never built a cathedral before and didn’t have the money to do it; but God provided that need. I wasn’t a contractor, but I still was in charge of the whole project until it was finished. How?—by giving myself to the Lord and letting Him give me the abilities I needed.
When there were jobs we couldn’t do, God showed me how to get other people to do them; and He let me know what companies to use for additional help. The Lord also provided us with good volunteer help, and we couldn’t have done it without them. When we finally finished our cathedral, the building department in Columbus, Ohio said it was the best-built church in the whole state. That’s what God can do when you obey Him. The Lord had told me that His cathedral would be a faith building, and it was built block by block through faith.
The Lord promised to supply all of your needs, too, but that doesn’t necessarily mean wealth. I never asked God to make me rich in the wealth of this land; I asked Him to make me rich in His power, in His gifts, in His love and in His grace so I could help others. I don’t even have a bank account of my own, and all of the royalties from the books God gives me go to His work. Many ministers keep a lot of their ministry’s money for themselves, but I could never do that. People sacrifice to give that money, and I trust God for His direction in using it. I try to be as much like Jesus as I possibly can.
Abraham never got rich from other people. The Lord wouldn’t allow him to accept gifts of money, cattle or land from kings or rulers because God didn’t want anyone to take credit for making Abraham rich. God wanted to be the one to supply his need. And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take anything that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich (Genesis 14:22,23).
God Was There for Jacob and Joseph
Jacob had a great need, but he didn’t wait on God. God was going to make sure that he received the blessing of the birthright from his father, but Jacob listened to his mother’s plan of deceit instead. As a result, he had to run away to escape being killed by his own brother; but one night, he met God in a great way. And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father’s house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth unto thee (Genesis 28:20-22). God heard Jacob’s cry, and He prospered him; and Jacob honored his vow and gave God the tenth he had promised Him.
Jacob’s son Joseph had a great need when he was sold into slavery; but it was all a part of God’s divine plan to raise Joseph up to become second in power in the great land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou (Genesis 41:39,40). Who would have thought that Joseph’s situation would turn out that way? God does the impossible when we yield to Him and believe Him for all needs to be supplied.
God needed Joseph just as much as Joseph needed God. Joseph suffered so much persecution, but he gave over to God and took on such divine humility that he became a type of Jesus Christ. Then God used him to save his people.
Joseph had to be humbled before God could use him, and we also will have to go through many things to humble us before the Cross. Only then will we be able to take on the spirit of humility of our Lord, Jesus Christ. We may think we’re humble enough, but we’re not if we get impatient and complain to God that we can’t take any more. We all have to wait upon the Lord and be patient no matter what we have to suffer for His name’s sake.
The disciples rejoiced that they could suffer for Christ’s name’s sake. They loved Jesus with the same love that took Him to Calvary—divine love. That love coupled with divine grace worked for them. And when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ (Acts 5:40-42).
Saved by Grace
When we have grace, we have all of the favor of God; and only by His grace can we be saved. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8,9).
We all have a great need for a Savior, but many people don’t feel that need and think they’re all right just the way they are. They think that if they join a church, are baptized in water and live the best they can, God won’t send them to hell. It’s true that God won’t send people to hell, but their sins will send them there. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).
I felt that great need of a Savior. I knew I had to be born new, and the old me had to die. I knew I had to be resurrected into a new person through the blood of Jesus Christ, and you who are saved had to be born new, too. We felt the need of becoming different people. I knew I wasn’t ready for Heaven and that I wouldn’t go there if I didn’t change; but now I am a fit-citizen for Heaven, and I’m working to get everybody I can to go there, too. Unfortunately, not everybody will listen.
God Brings His People Out
The people in Sodom and Gomorrah wouldn’t listen, and the Bible says that Lot’s righteous soul was vexed daily. Just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day today with their unlawful deeds;) (II Peter 2:7,8). Lot couldn’t take all the filth and sin around him, and he felt the need of crying out to God.
God heard Lot’s cry, and He made a way for Lot and his family to escape before the cities were destroyed. Lot tried to get his sons-in-law to feel the need of God, but they didn’t and were destroyed with the cities. And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law (Genesis 19:14). It’s terrible that they’re in hell today.
Lot’s daughters felt the need and heeded God’s call, but his wife didn’t because she loved the sins of the cities. She enjoyed their “good life,” but she found out too late that it was as rotten as the pits of hell. She looked back as they were fleeing the cities even though she had been told not to, and she was destroyed. But his [Lot’s] wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Lot and his two daughters went on to do the will of God.
Later, we find the Israelite people—the very seed of Abraham,Isaac and Jacob—in bondage; but the Lord had told Abraham it would happen. And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years (Genesis 15:13).
God needed a man to bring the people out, and He found Moses. It took 40 years for God to make Moses into a man who would stand up against Pharaoh, and Moses received the greatness of God he needed when he surrendered all at the burning bush. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And…God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground (Exodus 3:2,4,5).
The Lord directed Moses in getting the people out of Egypt; and after they finally left, God was always with them. The cloud of His presence overshadowed the Israelites during the day, and His pillar of fire kept them warm at night in the wilderness. And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people (Exodus 13:21,22). God performed many miracles for the people because their need was great, and God is here today to meet your needs, too.
Elijah Stood for God
God had a great need for Israel to be delivered from worshiping idol gods, and He needed Elijah to help Him. The Israelites had gone so far away from God; and He needed a man who would stand before wicked Ahab and say, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word (I Kings 17:1).
Elijah had met the need of God, and then God met his need when He fed him and looked after him during those years of no rain. And the word of the LORD came unto him [Elijah], saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook (I Kings 17:2-6).
As the famine continued, the brook eventually dried up; so God sent Elijah to a widow woman’s house where He used Elijah to perform a wonderful miracle of supply. When Elijah arrived, the woman was preparing to use her last bits of meal and oil to make one final cake before she and her son would starve to death. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake by Elijah (I Kings 17:13-16). The widow woman was able to provide for Elijah and for her family members throughout the rest of the famine.
God Provided Power from On High
Elisha knew that he had a great need for more power from God. And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground. And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me (II Kings 2:8,9). You too have to feel the need of power from On High.
I knew I neded more of God’s power, and I’m never satisfied; so I still keep fasting and seeking God for more. I’ll go without eating for 40 days at a time just like Jesus did so I can have more power to help the blind get their sight, the deaf and dumb to hear and speak, the cripples to be made whole and for people to be delivered of all deadly diseases. I want the world to see our Lord in operation. He must have the chance to do His perfect work, and He will do it if people will only believe!
Elisha didn’t ask for money, houses or lands; he asked only for a double portion of the power that had worked through Elijah. Elisha felt the need of getting the divine mantle, and he did receive it right after the Lord took Elijah to Heaven alive. And he [Elisha] saw him [Elijah] no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan; And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over (II Kings 2:12-14). What did Elisha do when he got the mantle?—He struck the waters, and they parted.
You Must Have Holy Ghost Power
Do you feel the need of getting the mantle of Jesus? Elijah is a type of Jesus, and you must have His mantle to be the soul winner that the Lord needs you to be in this final hour. That mantle of power is offered to whosoever will. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely (Revelation 22:17).
Jesus saved people when He was here; but when He left, He told the disciples to go to the Upper Room and stay there until they had received power from On High. Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49).
Those who saw Jesus ascend to Heaven did just what Jesus had told them to. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
The Holy Ghost fell upon the disciples on the Day of Pentecost, and they received divine power from On High. The Lord knew the disciples would need that power to evangelize the world; and because they felt the need, they were able to accomplish that in a little over 30 years. They preached Jesus, and many people were saved and healed; and the Kingdom grew daily.
The Early Church felt the need of the power of the Holy Ghost, but many people today don’t feel that need; and still others don’t even believe in the power of the Holy Ghost. My associates and I preach nothing but the truth, and we all have the Holy Ghost baptism of power from On High. That’s why this ministry sees so many signs, wonders, miracles and healings and why crowds of people gather together in church on Friday nights when most other churches don’t hold services. People come from all over the world because they have a need; and they believe that if they can just get here, their need will be supplied.
Stephen and Paul Were Winners
Stephen was a young man God could depend on. He felt the need of preaching his last message, and God had a need for a martyr. Stephen met God’s need, and God met his. When Stephen was being stoned, God gave him a glorious vision of Jesus standing at the right hand of God. But he [Stephen], being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him (Acts 7:55-58).
After Stephen’s death, God had a need for somebody to stand up in Stephen’s place; and He chose Saul. And the witnesses [of Stephen’s stoning] laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul (Acts 7:58). Saul was a blasphemer and a murderer, and he held the cloaks of the ones who were stoning Stephen; but God had a need for that man, and He was going to change him.
And as he [Saul] journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do (Acts 9:3-6)? Saul gave his life to God 100 percent, and God later changed his name to Paul. Then God used him to write much of the New Testament. Paul met God’s need, and God met his.
Paul was a winner for the rest of his life, and he wrote two victorious letters to Timothy when he was about to die for the sake of Christ. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day (II Timothy 4:6-8). Paul had suffered more than anyone except Jesus Himself, but he had met God’s need. He told Timothy that he was ready for his new body, his new life and his crown of glory.
Because of Paul’s death, there are multitudes in Heaven who quite possibly would never have gone there because they wouldn’t have stood the test. How many of us have become the children of God we are today because of the Pauline epistles? You can get much guidance from Paul’s writings, but he paid a great price for them. He wrote a lot of them while he was in prison for the sake of Christ.
God Honors a Perfect Heart
King Hezekiah had a great need because Isaiah the prophet had told him he was going to die. In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore (Isaiah 38:1-3).
Hezekiah didn’t take his need to the prophet; he took it straight to God. Hezekiah was a good king, and he felt the need to live longer and remain king over his people. With tears, he told the Lord that he had walked before Him with a perfect heart; and then the Lord said to Isaiah, Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years (Isaiah 38:5). The Lord knew that Hezekiah was perfect in his love toward Him, so the Lord gave him 15 more years.
The Lord can add or subtract years from any person’s life. Many people have shortened their lives because they didn’t discern what was in the Ark—Christ Jesus. Paul told the church of Corinth that many in their midst had died because they didn’t discern the Lord’s body. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep (I Corinthians 11:29,30). Many of those people were afflicted because they didn’t know Jesus Christ or His truth, and they didn’t know about His healing or miracle powers. It was the will of the Lord for them to have lived longer, but they didn’t meet the conditions of the promises.
Every promise is conditional; and when you meet the conditions of a promise, it’s yours. When we have a great need, there’s a great God who moves for us and supplies our need.
Believe to See God’s Glory
Bartimaeus needed a great miracle. Blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way (Mark 10:46-52). Bartimaeus was born blind, but he received his sight. Jesus did His greatest works and miracles when the need was great.
Lazarus’ two sisters desperately needed Jesus, but they thought it was too late when Jesus arrived four days after their brother had died. Martha said, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died (John 11:21). Mary and Martha had faith, but they were going to have to use it at that moment like they had never used it before; and they could have no doubt.
Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day (John 11:23,24). Martha knew her brother would rise again on Resurrection Day; but Jesus told her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God (John 11:40)? Jesus wanted her to see the glory right then.
God Made Me Whole
Do you want to see God’s glory today? I wanted and needed to see that glory for my body to be made whole when I was dying at just 23 years of age. I had given my whole life to the Lord, and I wanted to live and preach the Gospel; but I was getting worse every day. There seemed to be no way out, and I was convinced that I was going to die.
I didn’t understand why God would save me, call me to the ministry, gift me to preach and then let me die. I had started preaching at 18, and I was holding revivals and winning many souls. I had obeyed God in everything, lived in His holy presence night and day, and knew I hadn’t committed one sin from the time He had saved me.
It was getting toward the end, and I could see myself like I was in quicksand—it was up to my waist, and it looked like I was going down for the last count. I knew that I didn’t have but a few more days to live, but what I didn’t know was that I was within a few days of my miracle. Oh, what a need I had!
Then one night, Jesus came. He didn’t send an angel; He came Himself, and He made me completely whole. Then the Lord lingered to talk with me and to tell me some of the future. He said I was going to have His gifts, and I would carry the Gospel to the world. He also said, “Later, you’ll go on a long fast. When you come out of that fast, you’ll have my power for the healing of the people.” I knew without a doubt I was going to live!
Since then, I don’t know how many times I’ve gone to sleep thanking God that I have no pain; and He has given me wonderful health and strength. I still feel like I’m 29 years of age, and I do the work of many men. Although many years have passed, I don’t even feel them because of God’s power and because He supplied my need and His.
God can give you great strength no matter how old you are. Remember, God supplied Moses’ need, and he lived to be 120 years old. Before he died, he had the strength to climb a mountain; and the Bible says that his vision was not even dim. And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated (Deuteronomy 34:7).
The Lord promised to renew our youth. Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Psalm 103:5). Will you accept that promise for yourself?
Jesus Will Meet Your Need
When Jesus met people, He’d say, Wilt thou be made whole (John 5:6)? In my overseas crusades, the Lord makes thousands of people whole all over in just one service in the same way He did the woman with the issue of blood. She had a great need for 12 long years, and the Lord met that need. She found her miracle of supply in Jesus Christ. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched (Luke 8:43,44).
Jairus had a great need; but when he was about to approach Jesus, a messenger arrived and told him that his daughter had died. However, Jesus said to Jairus, Be not afraid, only believe (Mark 5:36); and that’s what the Lord has sent me to tell you today. Put your trust in the Lord and stop worrying and doubting. Stop living in fear and believe the Lord; He works only through divine faith.
Jesus asked the disciples, Where is your faith (Luke 8:25)? Are you using your faith today or is God asking you the same question? God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). God gives everyone a measure of faith; and when you use that measure, He’ll give you another measure and another measure. Then you’ll get to the place where He’ll tell you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3). God told me to do that; and through fastings and prayers, I came into that great faith. It’s the faith that God can use to make people whole all over—His faith.
Jesus was God’s perfect man who took on the form of a human being; and when He did, the Word was made flesh. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14). When Jesus was on Earth, He met the needs of people everywhere He went; and He’s still doing that today.
You Need Salvation
There’s no end to this message; it will go on and on until Rapture Day when the saints of God are caught away. God will always move when the need is great. Are you ready for God to move for you? Do you feel the need of being born again? Do you feel the need of a Savior? If so, then say the sinners’ prayer today and mean it. Oh, God, I need a Savior, the One who died for me called Jesus. I know He has power to forgive me because I know He died so my sins could be forgiven. I believe there’s power in His blood to wash away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus. Come on in!
Let God Heal You
If you’re sick and afflicted, do you feel the need of living? I felt the need of living and being a real worker for God. I wanted to meet His need day and night, and I’m so thankful today that I’m in good health and able to carry this Gospel to the whole world. That’s the greatest honor that can ever be bestowed upon this lowly child of God, but I couldn’t do it without the help of all of our wonderful partners. Jesus loves you and cares for you; now be thou made well.
Lord, here they are. I curse the AIDS virus, and you’ve healed thousands of AIDS through this Jesus ministry. Those who want to believe can believe because medical science is confirming that the miracles are real. Lord, heal them of cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, lung trouble, paralysis, leprosy and all deformities. You’ve healed so many children who were never to be normal or who had only part of a brain. Some were never to walk, and they’re walking today all because of you, Jesus. You supplied what they needed. You’re our sin-bearer and our sickness-bearer, and all of the healings and miracles are yours. Heal! in the blood-name of Jesus. Heal!
Always remember that the glory goes to the Lord, not me. I am not the healer; I’m just God’s believer. Watch yourself get well and write and tell me about it. I will rejoice with you and help you give God all the glory. Only God the Father, Son and Holy Ghost can perform such wonderful miracles, healings, signs and wonders. We give all the praise, honor and glory to Heaven because they are miracles and healings from Heaven.
