God Is Reasonable
by Ernest Angley
August 2010
Most people on Earth today think that God is not reasonable. They think He’s unreasonable when He says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:20). Yet God tells us this throughout the Bible, He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning (I John 3:8). The Bible also says, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16).
No matter what people say, God is reasonable; and He invites us to reason with Him. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD (Isaiah 1:18). I always reason with God. He has given me listening ears to hear what He is saying and a heart of love so that I can accept it all. I never say no to God because I want nothing less than His divine will. I want to always pray like Jesus did in the Garden of Gethsemane, Father…not my will, but thine, be done (Luke 22:42).
Divine Blood Redeemed Us
Since the time when Adam and Eve’s sin put man out-side Eden, no one has been born in the image of God. The Bible tells us, Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me (Psalm 51:5). We all need a Savior, and Jesus came and connected us with Heaven so we could become sons and daughters of God. But as many as received him [Jesus], to them gave he power to become the sons [or daughters] of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). Christ’s blood has made us nigh to Him. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13). Why would the Lord Jesus die on Calvary to wash away all our sins and make us pure and clean if we couldn’t stay that way?
This last hour is a reckoning time, and God will sanctify you and justify you if you listen to Him because His Bride must be holy. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27). Only those who are holy can go boldly before the Lord. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Through the divine blood of Jesus, we can all kneel before the throne daily even though we’re still here on Earth. This may all sound unreasonable to man, but it’s perfectly reasonable to God.
Have the Mind of Christ
God can only reason with us through a sound mind and sober thoughts. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). Jesus had a human mind, but He took on divine ingredients for His mind; and we can all have that same mind. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5).
The Lord revealed to me 141 ingredients that made up His human mind, and then He took me to the Holy Scriptures to show me that they’re all in there. My book The Mind of Christ lists all of these ingredients, and you should check to see if you have them all. If you’re missing any, the Lord let Peter know that you can add them. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity [love] (II Peter 1:5-7).
God demands obedience in all things, but many people think that’s unreasonable even though we’ll be rewarded for it. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19). If Adam and Eve had listened to and obeyed God, the Bible wouldn’t have to be full of “thou shalt nots.” The devil wouldn’t have been able to keep talking to and tempting Eve; and after a period of time, he and all of his demons would have been cast into the lake of fire.
A Heavenly City
Adam and Eve’s sin opened the door for the devil to take over. How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers (Isaiah 1:21). Oh, how Jerusalem grieved God!
But God Himself has built His own city, and man had no part in it. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Revelation 21:2). No sin or tears will ever stain the streets of that city, and that’s wonderful! And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away (Revelation 21:4).
That heavenly city is so holy that it won’t come down on this degraded Earth; the Earth will be made new first. The Bible tells us that this present Earth will be melted with fervent heat. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up (II Peter 3:10).
Reasoning Uncovers Deceit
How often do you take time to reason with God? I reason with Him day and night, and I stay connected to Him at all times. I take God’s high thoughts, and they bring the high things of God down to me. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:9). I take the high road, and that’s where the blessings of Heaven are being rained down today.
When God says to come and reason, He’s saying, “Come, and we’ll discuss your problems; we’ll discuss your thoughts and the direction you’re taking.” God is even reasonable when He’s dealing with deceit, and He’s so patient in trying to help people get rid of it. He’ll uncover it and help them to realize that they are deceived because He can’t reason with deceit. God can reason with you to get deceit out of your life, but He can’t reason with it; and there’s a big difference.
Many people today are deceived about their salvation because even so-called Christians won’t reason with God. I asked one woman if she was born again, and she told me that she was because she belonged to a certain church. When I told her that her church wouldn’t take her to Heaven, she replied, “I believe mine will.” That woman wasn’t reasoning with God, and her arrogance came out in her voice.
When you reason with God, He’ll tell you that you must be born again and stop all your sinning. Only then will you act like Jesus, talk like Him and walk like Him. You’ll also pray like Him, knowing that the Father always hears you. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always (John 11:41,42).
When you talk to and reason with God, you won’t blame Him for anything because you’ll know that He’s always right and that He treats all people right. No one in eternal darkness will ever be able to say that God didn’t treat them right. He’s not unreasonable concerning life and death; He’s full of mercy, but on tomorrow He’ll serve only justice.
God Is Truth and Power
You can’t reason with God if you have any ego in you. Never say, “Look who I am,” but rather, “Look who He is.” Always remember that you’re wonderfully made, but that’s only because the Lord did it. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well (Psalm 139:14). Jesus went to Calvary so that everyone can make that claim.
God is not unreasonable when He’s dealing with anyone about the truth. The Lord always deals with the Spirit of truth; and His thoughts are always pure, holy and mighty. Think about having such a reasonable God who has all power! He spoke this whole universe into existence. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Even though this is in the Bible, people still don’t believe that God is the creator.
Listen to What the Spirit Says
People say a lot of wrong things about God; but He still says, “Come and I’ll reason with you. I’ll give you ears to hear if you want to hear and eyes to see if you want to see.” But He didn’t say that to the Pharisees and the Sadducees because they didn’t want to see or hear God. They seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive (Matthew 13:13,14). The majority of people on Earth today don’t want to hear what the Spirit is saying or see what God is doing, and they definitely don’t want to reason with Him. They accuse God of being unreasonable, but they’re the ones who are unreasonable; and unreasonable people will go to hell.
There are just two places for man to go—Heaven or hell. I’ve heard people say that they don’t believe God would send anyone to hell, but they don’t want to hear that it’s not God but their sins that will send them to hell. God told the Israelites, Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59:1,2). Sin will separate you from God; there’s no in between.
God Separates Right from Wrong
God reasoned with the first man and woman He had made in Eden and told them not to go to the tree of death. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die (Genesis 2:16,17). God explained things to Adam and Eve, and He told them what death and evil were all about. There comes a time in people’s lives when they are old enough for the Lord to reason with, and He’ll always let them know right from wrong. The Bible proves that God is a reasonable God.
In school, I hated to take an exam that asked for only yes or no answers. I’d rather have had questions that allowed me to write a long explanation without really knowing the answer. That way, I would usually get at least partial credit for all my trouble; and I got by like that more times than one. If I had studied more, I would have known the answers; but even though I had a good mind, I didn’t always reason with the teachers or with what they taught.
The great God of the universe reasons only through divinity; and He says, “Come and let us reason together in love.” But some people act toward God just like disobedient children act toward their parents. A mom or dad may try to reason with their children in love and tell them what will happen to them if they don’t do right and follow the Lord, but some children can’t be reasoned with. They just think their parents are unreasonable and don’t love them.
Jesus Is the Way
People feel that way about God, too. When He won’t compromise with them, they think He doesn’t love them; but God reasons with people through great love as He reaches out to them through the nail-riven hands of His Son, Jesus. He’ll tell them that it doesn’t matter how many sins they’ve committed; He points them to Calvary saying that they can be forgiven through the blood of the Lamb. Jesus came saying, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).
When you accept God’s reasoning, you’ll know without a doubt that there’s just one door to Heaven. Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber (John 10:1). The Lord never compromised with anyone, and He hated the Pharisees and Sadducees because they were hypocrites. Hypocrites won’t reason with God or His truth; they reason only with lies and deceit.
When you’re outside the reasoning power of God, you won’t listen to Him or obey Him; and that means hell will be your destiny. The same is true for all inhabitants of the Earth because only the true Gospel of Jesus can save people. He said, Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). You can’t get through the gates of Glory without the all-powerful name of Jesus, and His nail-riven hands will work for you just as the hands of God worked to create this universe. That’s why Jesus said, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).
God Reasoned with the Samaritan Woman
Study Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman. She was just a woman of the streets who was full of the devil; but Jesus reasoned with her, and she reasoned with Him. She had come to draw water; and Jesus, a lonely-looking man, was sitting there asking for a drink. How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans (John 4:9). At that time, the Jews looked at the Samaritans as if they were dogs, believing that they were so far above them. But Jesus answered, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water (John 4:10).
There stood that degraded woman; but the Lord opened the door to reason with her, and He did it with so much wisdom. Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet (John 4:16-19).
This woman reasoned and knew that Jesus had told her the truth. Then the Lord revealed to her who He was. The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he (John 4:25,26). She’d heard about the Messiah, but she never dreamed He’d come and reason with her one-on-one.
God Works with Individuals
You must realize that the Lord deals with everyone individually. Thousands of people attend our great crusade services, but the Lord will deal with them one-on-one. He’ll tell me things about certain individuals in the crowd so they will realize that He sees them, and God wants them to know who He’s talking about. He’ll give me their names or initials, and He’ll tell me right to the day how long they’ve had AIDS or any other disease. Then God heals them, but He also tells them that they must serve Him for the rest of their lives.
At other times, God will point out people to me who are about to commit suicide; and He’ll even tell this servant of God how they are planning to do it. While I was ministering in a big stadium filled with the largest crowd that had ever gathered there, the Lord showed me in a vision a man’s gun hidden in a cabinet. He even showed me the color of the gun’s handle. Sometime before the service, the man had been planning to kill himself when a bird landed on a limb outside his window and got his attention. Then the Lord spoke to him and told him to come to my crusade service. That night, when I told him what the Lord had told me, the man remembered the bird; and he knew God had saved his life through that bird.
Open Your Door to Life
Scoffers say that we use God as a crutch, but we don’t use Him as a crutch; we use Him as very life. We drink of Him and His Word, and He gives us life through His divine blood. Jesus said, Whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die (John 11:26). That old tabernacle of clay will go back to the dust of the earth, but the real you—the soul—will live forever.
Real life brings joy, and God reasons with us through divine joy; but some Christians just sit around and wonder why they’re so depressed. The Bible says, God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38). Children of God can be oppressed by the devil in their minds but not possessed in their souls.
When the blood of Jesus is in your soul, the devil can’t get into it. You’re the only one who can open the door because the latch is on the inside. Jesus said, Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20). Jesus wants to come in, but some people are so depressed that they won’t open the door and let Him in. My door is always open to Jesus; He can call me any time, and I’ll always answer. Somebody may be sick or about to commit suicide, and it may be three or four in the morning; but if they need someone to pray for them, I’m ready.
God deals with us gently and tenderly. Gentleness and goodness are two of His wonderful fruits of the Spirit, and the Psalmist said, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever (Psalm 23:6).
The Lord also reasons with you through patience and longsuffering, so you’re in trouble when you get irritable with God. He can’t reason with you when you’re acting like that. You can’t doubt His love, His faith or His direction; you can’t doubt Heaven or hell, and you can’t doubt the judgments or prophecies of God. You have to believe it all; and when you reason with God, you will. Jesus tells us that believers will lay hands on the sick, and they shall get well. Do you believe it? These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18).
Receive the Holy Ghost
Jesus said, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter [the Holy Ghost], that he may abide with you forever (John 14:16). Do you believe that the Holy Ghost is for you? Many people, even preachers and priests, will not accept the Holy Ghost baptism. They go through life without His power, but the Lord said He would move according to the power that works within us. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20).
The Holy Ghost has come to be our teacher and to reason with us. He deals with us regarding righteousness and unrighteousness, judgments and mercy and with every word of God. It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). The Holy Spirit uses only God’s words to reason with us, but you have to be reasonable in return.
Peter tells us that the Holy Ghost is for all who obey Him. We are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him (Acts 5:32). He is power from On High. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49). So many Christians have only a form of godliness, and they have denied the power of God.
Reason Only with God
The Lord has such a forgiving Spirit, and that’s not unreasonable at all. Even when I was a sinner, I never accused God of being unreasonable because God promised that He would forgive us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). The Apostle Paul said that he was the chief of sinners, but the Lord even forgave him. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief (I Timothy 1:15).
Before Paul met Jesus on the road to Damascus, he wouldn’t reason with God even though he was a very educated man. People today act the same way; many have so much education that they have become fools in the eyes of God, and they don’t feel the need of reasoning with Him. Instead, they reason with man’s thoughts and theories no matter how far-fetched the ideas might be.
Some people tune into talk shows on the radio or television and let those who live degraded, ungodly lives reason with them. Wake up and realize that they’re hindering your ability to see as God sees, and soon you’ll be just as spiritually blind as they are and headed straight for hell.
Heed God’s Warnings
God tries to reason with some people through warnings, but they still won’t listen. God had tried to warn King Nebuchadnezzar about what was to come through a dream, but he wouldn’t accept the warning and humble himself. Therefore, God drove Nebuchadnezzar out from among men to live as a wild animal for seven years. The Lord reached into Nebuchadnezzar’s bosom, took out his ugly, human heart and gave him the heart of a beast. There fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee. And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will. The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles’ feathers, and his nails like birds’ claws (Daniel 4:31-33).
After Nebuchadnezzar had suffered for seven years, God gave him his mind back; but it was a different mind, and he was finally ready to reason with God. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase (Daniel 4:34,37).
God Will Judge
King Belshazzar was wicked, and God had tried to reason with him by reminding him of what had happened to his grandfather, Nebuchadnezzar; but he wouldn’t listen. Belshazzar was so full of the devil that he took the holy vessels from the very temple of God and used them at a wild party. Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone. In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another (Daniel 5:3-6). The people were drunk and honoring every god except the true and living God, and then the hand began to write God’s message on the wall.
If you don’t reason with God, He’ll only come to you with judgment; and you won’t be able to escape it. And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN (Daniel 5:25). Then Daniel, a man who reasoned with God, was called to interpret it. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain. And Darius the Median took the kingdom (Daniel 5:26-28,30,31).
Belshazzar never thought that an enemy could capture Babylon; but while he was throwing his wild party, the Medes were rerouting the river that flowed under the city walls. They used the original riverbed as a passage right into Babylon, and they marched in and took over the city in a short period of time. Later that night, Belshazzar died; and he lifted up his eyes in hell. His grandfather had finally reasoned with God; but when you’re in hell, there’s no longer a God to reason with. The verdict is, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).
No Forgiveness for Blasphemy
Behold the hands of God; He has a right hand of mercy but a left hand of judgment. When people continue to reject God, the time will come when God won’t listen to them or call them anymore. They will have blasphemed against the Holy Ghost, and the Lord said there’s no forgiveness for that sin. Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come (Matthew 12:31,32).
The Pharisees blasphemed against the Holy Ghost when they accused the Spirit of being a devil in Jesus. They gave their minds over to the devil, and they wouldn’t reason with God. The Pharisees…said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand (Matthew 12:24-26)? People are still blaspheming today, and the Spirit is no longer drawing them—and a person can’t come to the Lord unless they’re drawn by the Holy Spirit.
Reasoning Changes Lives
The Lord wants to reason with you in truth; but what is the truth about your life, your spirit, your conversation and your heart? What is the truth about you and the divine blood? Are you using it? Do you have forgiveness? Only godly sorrow brings true repentance. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death (II Corinthians 7:10). You have to be as sorry for the sins you have committed as God is that you committed them.
God was so sorry for man’s sin that He gave all of His heart, Jesus, and all of His love to make a Calvary of forgiveness for us. After Christ died, God could say, “Come to Jesus no matter what you’ve ever done. Come and be free through the blood of the Lamb, my Only Begotten Son.”
Reason with the Lord about your life instead of grumbling and complaining. If you don’t reason with Him, you’re going to drive God’s blessings so far away from you that you won’t receive miracles or anything else you need. You can’t grumble at God and then expect Him to move for you. Grumbling comes from the devil through doubt and ungodly disobedience.
Instead of complaining, I behold the Son of God and the Cross that changed my life and made me a new creation in Christ Jesus. It took all the unholiness out of me and put God’s holiness within and made me the righteousness of God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (II Corinthians 5:21).
Take another look at the Almighty—the One who spoke this universe into existence and hung it upon nothing, the One who spoke the stars, the moon and the sun into existence. This great God who is above all then got down in the dirt to make a man in His own image, a man who would always reason with God. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them (Genesis 1:26,27). And [God] breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7).
Enoch Walked with God
Enoch was a man who reasoned with God, and he’s the first man outside of Eden we have record of whom God walked with like He had walked with Adam in Eden. And Enoch walked with God (Genesis 5:24). Enoch pleased God so much that He took him to Heaven alive. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God (Hebrews 11:5).
The Lord loved to talk to Enoch, and Enoch loved to talk to Him; and God wants to talk to His people today, too. He invites you to come; but some Christians make prayer a chore, and that’s pathetic. You have to change that attitude, so make yourself pray until you come into such an obedient spirit that you delight in talking to the Lord. He’s the last person you should talk to at night and the first person you should talk to when you open your eyes in the morning. He’s the only One who can walk hand-in-hand with you every day, and He’s with you even at night while you sleep.
Reason with Your Children
God can’t talk to you if you don’t listen to and reason with what He has to say. No good earthly mother or father can talk to their children and get anywhere if their children won’t reason with them. My mother reasoned with us, and she gave each of us all the time we ever needed. If she told me I couldn’t go somewhere or be with a certain person, she would always explain why. She never said, “Because I said so.” She did everything through the Spirit of God and with great love. She loved me into doing many things right that I wouldn’t have done right otherwise. She never tried to force truth down my throat; she just let me know when my actions weren’t pleasing to God or when they were bringing reproach upon the family—and I never wanted to do that.
Mama’s reasoning put so much truth in me. She taught me that I didn’t need alcohol to be happy and that liars were some of the most dangerous people in the world because they’d rob you of your character. We always had a family altar; and even though my mom and dad worked long, hard hours, they’d gather all the children together every evening to read some scripture and pray over us.
When I look back, I treasure those hours. They had an influence on me that the devil couldn’t take away, an influence of truth, righteousness, holiness and humility before God. I was taught to honor God because He was always right and that there was a Heaven to go to and a hell to shun.
Saved at Last
My parents took us to a church that taught the truth, and I knew the right way even before I was saved. I had the truth in my head, but I wouldn’t let it drop into my heart until I was eighteen; and I finally let the Lord take me over. He moved in and convicted me; and at one time, He actually held me over hell so I could see the smoke coming up around me, and it scared me to death.
I became so miserable that I couldn’t enjoy anything. I wasn’t the type who went around depressed, but now my usual happiness was gone. I tried to run; but whenever you run from God, you’ll just keep running into Him. You won’t be able to rest; and when you turn out the light at night, you’ll hear Him say, “You may never see this light again; people die in their sleep.”
I never discussed any of this with family or friends because I didn’t want anyone to know that God was dealing with me. I had always wanted to wait until I was at least ninety to get saved, but there was no reasoning to that. God didn’t agree with me wanting to live a life of sin and then expecting to go to Heaven, and He let me know that He didn’t agree.
I thought I was going to my death the night I walked down that church aisle. God had forced me into it because I knew He was going to drop me right into hell if I didn’t, but I didn’t understand how I could possibly enjoy life again if I gave my heart to Him. However, God met me at the altar that night with mercy, forgiveness and love; and He offered me His nail-riven hands. Then the blood flowed, and I was made brand new.
I walked away from that church so completely changed that I had to get used to my new self. Unlike what I had thought, I had no trouble giving up the pleasures of the world. God had saved me and brought me out of all sin, unholiness and disobedience. He had reasoned with me for so long with patience, goodness and mercy; but He wouldn’t compromise with me. At last, I was reasoning with Him.
Come to Jesus
The Word is crying “Come” to all the inhabitants of the Earth in this final hour. The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely (Revelation 22:17). Come and reason with God while you’re still able. Reason with Him about your sins, and He will show you the same love and forgiveness that He showed me. It will be as if you had never committed one sin because He’ll make you new.
Say this prayer with me today. Oh, God, save my soul. I have come to reason with you, to discuss my soul and my sins with you. I am so sorry that I sinned against you, but I have come home. I have come to the light, and I will never go into the night again. Please forgive me. I believe that the blood of Jesus washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come in!
If you meant that prayer, now you can say, Hallelujah! Jesus has come! Hallelujah! Jesus is mine! You’ve come to Him, and thank God Almighty you’re free! Stay free and go on to receive the good Holy Ghost; He’s power from On High and power for service. Do the will of God, and one day Heaven will be yours.
Reason with God for Your Miracle
Now come and reason with the Lord if you’re sick and afflicted because He wants to heal you. Jesus came with healing in His wings. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings (Malachi 4:2). God reasons with us by saying, Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me (Jeremiah 32:27)? God reasons with us with questions of truth, but He can’t help you unless you give truthful answers. You who are sick and afflicted, if you’ve repented and been saved from the degradation of sin, the Lord has forgiven you; and now He wants to heal you. I’m not your healer; I’m just the Lord’s believer, and He’s ready to heal and deliver you today.
Through this Jesus ministry, thousands have been healed of AIDS as well as leprosy, cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, lung trouble and strokes. Deformed babies have been made well because God is a reasonable God; and He can be touched by our love, our prayers and our yearning for Him.
Lord, I bring the people to you. I come with your power, your gifts, and I curse the AIDS and all deadly diseases in their bodies. Heal! in the blood-name of Jesus. Heal! in the all-powerful blood-name. Be thou made well. Now touch your legs and lift your arms that were paralyzed. See that you have a miracle and give the Lord all the honor, the praise and the glory.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1). It’s your reasonable service to live holy now. Reason with God daily, and you won’t go astray; and I’ll meet you in Heaven one day. God bless.
