God Gave Us Heaven’s Greatest Treasure
by Ernest Angley
March 2019
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). God’s only begotten Son is Heaven’s greatest Treasure; and with great love, God gave that Treasure to us.
God told me that when He gave Jesus, it was the only time He used all of His love. God made Adam and Eve and saved Noah and his family from the Great Flood. He brought the Israelites out of Egyptian bondage and right through the midst of the Red Sea. God did many miraculous things, but He never used all of His love to do any of them. Only when He gave Jesus on Calvary’s Cross did He use all of His love; and if that won’t save people, nothing will. We must treasure Heaven’s salvation above all else.
A treasure is something of great worth or value, something precious or very rare; and Jesus is a treasure indeed. He is the Pearl of Great Price, and you have to sell all to get that Pearl; and then you must hold on to it. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it (Matthew 13:45,46).
We must see Jesus in the perfection of His love, grace and truth and decide that we want to be just like Him. The world doesn’t think it is possible to live in the perfection of Him; but when you have the treasure of Jesus inside you, it is possible. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels [us], that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us (II Corinthians 4:7).
Have a True Foundation
Jesus was with His Father in the beginning when they created man and woman. God said, Let us [God, His Son and the Holy Ghost] make man in our image, after our likeness (Genesis 1:26). In the beginning was the Word [Jesus], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made (John 1:1-3).
After man sinned, Jesus came to Earth with sinless blood. He was a child of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God (Luke 1:30,31,34,35).
Today, many people and even preachers do not believe in the Virgin Birth, so they don’t have true salvation. The Bible says, Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It also says, For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 3:11).
So many people today don’t have that true foundation; so they just stumble along in the dark, fall into the ditch and are destroyed. They don’t treasure the priceless gift God sent to them or see Jesus as their example. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps (I Peter 2:21).
Jesus is the Son of God, and He came to make us sons and daughters of God just like Him. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12).
Learn Truth
We must look at Jesus and treasure His truth. We must want to learn everything about Him that we possibly can just as He instructed us to. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me (Matthew 11:29). Jesus is the truth. I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Knowing that truth will make you free. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32).
When I got saved and filled with the Holy Ghost, I wanted to learn all I could about Jesus. If I had to be away from my home, I couldn’t wait to get back to my room and spend time with Him. Jesus became my greatest companion and my greatest reality, and I found true abundant life in Him. I [Jesus] am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10).
You must treasure Jesus and trust Him with your life. He is the best insurance you will ever find. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6). When you follow the Lord’s paths for you, He will give you the desires of your heart. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart (Psalm 37:4).
Have No Fear
God has given us so much through the treasure of Jesus, and fear is definitely not one of those things. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power [from Heaven], and of [divine] love, and of a sound mind [the mind of Jesus] (II Timothy 1:7). Fear is cruel and destructive, and it comes from the devil. That is why Jesus brought the true love and peace from Heaven that get rid of fear. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment (I John 4:18).
Fear causes depression, and depression is awful; so why do you let the devil do that to you? When depression begins to creep in, talk to the Lord. Then get up, dust yourself off and move on with Him. Take on the mind of Jesus so you can talk, walk and think like Him. Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin (I Peter 4:1). The Bible would never tell us to take on the mind of Christ if we could not do it.
Jesus was never afraid, but the disciples were afraid at times; and it caused them to fail. And he [Jesus] saith unto them [the disciples], Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith (Matthew 8:26)? Fear causes you to run from the devil instead of you making the devil run from you. The Bible says, Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). We can do anything God tells us to with His help and grace.
When you have the mind of Christ and keep your mind on God, He will keep you in perfect peace. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed [kept] on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3). That is divine peace, and it passes all earthly understanding. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Paul Found the Treasure
Heaven’s greatest Treasure must be your light and your life. In him was life; and the life was the light of men (John 1:4). He must be your treasure of divine joy and contentment; so if you are discontented, it is because you are not walking as Jesus walked. Paul said, For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content (Philippians 4:11). Notice that Paul said he had to learn to be content, and you must learn that, too, when you know the Lord is with you.
The Apostle Paul treasured Jesus so much that he gave God everything. He held nothing back; and he could say, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20).
Before Paul found Jesus, he thought he had all the treasure he needed. He was very well-educated, and he was a Pharisee; but Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites. But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in (Matthew 23:13).
As a Pharisee, Paul was against everything Jesus had brought and taught; but when God knocked Paul to his knees on the road to Damascus and he truly met Heaven’s greatest Treasure, he completely changed. He gave his all to follow Jesus, and he never turned back. You must never turn back either. Everything is ahead of you, and your future is as bright as the thousands of promises in the Word of the living God.
Paul Trusted in God
God did mighty things through Paul, but Paul knew he was just a weak vessel of clay; and he wanted everyone to know that the marvelous power that worked in his life was of God and not of him. He was a remarkable man, but he gloried in the Lord and not in himself. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God (I Corinthians 10:31).
Of course, Paul felt the physical strain of his persecutions and trials. For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears (II Corinthians 7:5). But he also knew that God’s grace was sufficient for him because the Lord had told him so. My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9).
Paul and Silas were sent to jail for casting a fortunetelling devil out of a girl who had followed them wherever they went for days crying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation…But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour (Acts 16:17,18). That girl made a lot of money for her masters, so they were very angry when she could no longer tell fortunes; and they had Paul and Silas arrested and thrown into prison. But God was in control, and He saw to it that they were released.
Paul endured much, but God always brought victory for him. He told Timothy, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me (II Timothy 3:11).
Know God Hears You
Let Jesus be your treasure in prayer. He came and made a blood line that goes straight to Heaven; so you can come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). You can call God any time, and you must know as Jesus did that He always hears you. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always (John 11:41,42).
You can call people thousands of miles away and talk to them just as if they are right there with you, so why don’t you believe that you can do that with the Lord? When you have true salvation, your voice will be heard by God any time of the day or night. If you struggle with prayer, that means you are not turning everything over to Him; so get whatever is hindering you out of your soul and mind.
The right kind of prayer enables you to claim all of God’s promises, and He will never fail even one of His promises. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness (II Peter 3:9). His promises are all true, and they reach into every tomorrow; so you have nothing to worry about. Jesus holds all of your tomorrows in His mighty hands of love.
You have to make Jesus your most valuable treasure if you want Him to answer your prayers and work in your life. He came to make us joint-heirs and coworkers with Him, but you have to let Him work. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16,17). The world thinks children of God are poor; but as joint-heirs with Christ, we are rich!
You Must Forgive
After Heaven’s greatest Treasure had been tortured, beaten and was dying on the Cross, He forgave His enemies. And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him…Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do (Luke 23:33,34). That was real forgiveness.
Two other men, who were sinners, were being crucified at the same time Jesus was; and although He was suffering great agony, He dealt with them with divine love and compassion. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise (Luke 23:39-43). The man who mocked Jesus lifted up his eyes in hell, but the one who asked Jesus to remember him received forgiveness.
There were three crosses that day, and each man died a different way. On the middle Cross was Heaven’s greatest Treasure. There was no sin in Him, but He was dying for your sins and mine. That is the Cross you want to treasure.
The men on the crosses to the left and the right were guilty and deserved to die, but conviction came upon the heart of the one on the right; and he asked Jesus to remember him. That man died forgiven. The man on the left had no regard for Heaven’s Treasure, so there was nothing Jesus could do for him. He died in his sins and dropped into hell for eternity.
Do you forgive your enemies from your heart like Jesus did and then leave them at the foot of the Cross for God to deal with? Some people hold grudges, and they won’t get to Heaven like that. Those who go in the Rapture must be without one blemish. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27).
Only God can forgive people’s sins, but you must forgive people for what they have done to you. Then God will take over; and He is the one who passes judgment, not us. For it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19). Once a situation is in God’s hands, you can go on your way free.
Jesus Willingly Died
Adam and Eve lived in physical and spiritual perfection until they sinned. Then death came upon them, and that penalty of death was passed on to all of us. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me (Psalm 51:5). None of us were born with the image of God; but because Jesus came, died and was resurrected, we can once again have that image. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him (Colossians 3:10).
After man sinned, there was no way to get back into Eden and to the Tree of Life until Heaven’s greatest Treasure came down. He made a gate in the form of a Cross, and that was the only way man could get back to the God who had created him.
Then God allowed His Treasure and ours to die, and I am sure all Heaven cried. The Crucifixion scene was so terrible that God had to turn His back on His only Son when He was dying on the Cross to keep from coming down to save Him. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me (Mark 15:34)?
Put Jesus First
Jesus will be everything you need, but you must put Him first in your life. Never let family, friends or anyone else come between you and Heaven’s greatest Treasure. Jesus said He came to separate the righteous from the unrighteous. Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household (Matthew 10:34-36).
You can’t let anyone or anything cause you to fail God. Family members and so-called friends will try to do that by arranging special events at times when you should be at church. The Bible says, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is (Hebrews 10:25).
You cannot do what others want you to do rather than what God wants you to do, or you will be in trouble. Catering to them, staying out of church and doing what they want you to do will not win their souls; but it may cause you to lose yours.
You have to take your stand. That is the only way you will have any chance of winning people for the Lord. Standing for Christ is worth every sacrifice, so don’t allow yourself to be robbed by anyone or anything that does not measure up to Heaven’s greatest Treasure.
Be Strong in Christ
Born-again, Spirit-filled Christians have the Treasure within; but we must realize that our bodies are still weak flesh of the Earth. Because of that, we will experience trials, afflictions, sorrow and fear; but with the heavenly Treasure within, we do not need to be defeated in anything. Paul said, We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed (II Corinthians 4:8,9). Let that encourage your heart and drive you deeper in the Lord.
When Jesus was a man, He suffered as a man; so He knows what we are going through. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15).
Many people say that no one can live free from sin, but Jesus did; so you can, too. Only those who have the devil in them continue to live in sin, but those who receive the beauty of Heaven’s greatest Treasure can and will live free from sin; and the Lord will help them to do that.
Things will happen to us through the weakness of the flesh just as they did to Jesus, so we must live by the power of God. For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you (II Corinthians 13:4).
Jesus is the treasure of life, so start each day by getting your mind off of self and on to Him and recognize that you can do nothing without Him. Jesus asked the disciples, And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit (Luke 12:25)? You must allow Him to fill you with all the fullness of Heaven. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9).
Through Christ, you can be more than a conqueror. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:37). Being more than a conqueror means you can conquer all the devils that are coming after you and still have plenty of power left to defeat even more devils.
No Confidence in the Flesh
You will face things in this life that will make your earthen vessel shrink, but God knows all about it; and His ways are not our ways. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8,9).
You need to take a leap of faith out of self and into the all-out faith of God, and Ezekiel gives you a good example of doing that. And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over (Ezekiel 47:3-5).
You can have no confidence in your flesh when it comes to doing spiritual things. Paul said, For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh (Philippians 3:3).
Get rid of your flesh spirit and thinking and take on divinity. Jesus said, It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life (John 6:63). No one has the ability to live godly in Christ Jesus without having the power of God within. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith (Romans 3:27).
When you truly understand the phrase “I am weak, but He is strong,” you will know why the Bible says, But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty (I Corinthians 1:27).
The Power of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Ghost is the one who gives you the power from On High. You need to keep your eyes on God and let Him use you. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth (Acts 1:8). If you have the Holy Ghost, you must let God use you and make you a wonderful witness for Him through prayer, fasting and living in the Word.
God is pouring out His Spirit today in a mighty way, but the greatest of this final outpouring is still ahead of us; so get ready for it. And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams (Acts 2:17). There is no need for the Lord to give visions to those who are sick or weak in body and can’t work for Him because when you receive a vision, you have to move on it. So this proves that God wants His children to be healthy and active.
The Bible says, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13). Don’t let this scripture be just a pep talk to you; let it become living reality through the power of the Holy Ghost. Never think that you can’t do something God wants you to because you can when you look to God for His strength.
Looking to and trusting in yourself will not get God’s will done. You have to go beyond self and see that the power is of God and not of you. Paul said, We had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead (II Corinthians 1:9).
Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
You must see Jesus’ footprints today. They are still in the sands of time, and the devil can’t erase them. Follow His steps; and never do or say anything until you stop and ask yourself, “What would Jesus say? What would Jesus do?” God will never fail to give you the answer. What will get you into trouble is not asking and then either running ahead of or lagging behind God.
Stop letting the Christian life be such a chore. Get off your little boat of worry, fear, doubt and depression and decide you will walk the waters with Jesus all the way. You must leave all behind and take the Gospel to the world. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:14). You must be a soul winner who is filled with God and working for Him because the end is coming.
I dread the day when I won’t be able to win another soul for the Lord because I know what is ahead for all lost souls. They will have to endure the horrible Tribulation Period; and if they still don’t repent, they will be cast into hell forever. The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). God will never hear the cries of the wicked again. He will wipe them all out of His mind and never remember they were ever born.
The Lord calls this humble servant His true prophet, and He tells me things to come so I can pass them on to others. Today, He wants me to tell you to give all your burdens to Him and carry the burden for the lost. He is the great I-Am, and He will take care of whatever you need. Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you (I Peter 5:7).
Take hold of the Savior and never let Him go, and then you can be with Him for all eternity. He will take away fear and give you peace. He will take away sadness and give you happiness. He will take away pain and give you healing. He wants to be your everything spiritually, physically and financially; so take His power for whatever you need. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Accept the Great Treasure
Jesus is the Rock of ages and the Honey in the rock. When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2). With honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee (Psalm 81:16). He is the Water Moses fetched out of the rock. Behold, I [God] will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock [with thy rod], and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink (Exodus 17:6).
Jesus is the Lily in the valley and the bright and morning Star. I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys (Song of Solomon 2:1). I am…the bright and morning star (Revelation 22:16).
If you do not know Heaven’s greatest Treasure today, don’t you want to? This is the hour of divine help and victory, but you must first have Jesus in your heart. He will save you from all of your sins and heal you of all diseases. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Psalm 103:2,3).
Say this prayer right now: Oh, God, thanks for sending Heaven’s greatest Treasure to us. I thank you that He brought divine blood and divine life. I am so sorry that I failed Him and sinned against Him, but I have come home; and I believe that His shed blood on Calvary washes away all of my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, Heaven’s greatest Treasure has become yours; and His name is Jesus. If you truly opened your heart to His salvation, He has filled it with His love; and He will flow Himself to you day and night. Now, you must go on to receive the Holy Ghost. He will make all the difference in the world in your life, and you must have Him to meet Jesus in the air.
Jesus Brought Healing
Jesus brought healing for all people; and now, He wants to make you whole. Wilt thou be made whole (John 5:6)? Believe to receive whatever God wants you to receive, and let Him move for you. When Jesus was on Earth, He healed all manner of sicknesses and diseases. And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matthew 4:23).
Jesus is the Healer, and the gifts that work in my life come only through Him. Lord, I come with your supernatural gifts and in the blood name of Jesus. I come with divine blood, and I inject it into the bodies of the people. The Bible declares that through your blood stripes, we are healed. Heal! Heal! I curse diabetes, heart trouble, lung trouble and paralysis. I curse AIDS, leprosy, cancer and all deadly diseases. Heal the people from the crown of their heads to the soles of their feet and make them whole.
The healing power is flowing, and it is all because of Heaven’s greatest Treasure and your sacrificial Lamb, Jesus. But remember, you must serve Him if you want to keep the miracles and healings He has given you.
