From Jerusalem to Jericho
by Ernest Angley
January 2001
Let me take you on a journey today from Jerusalem to Jericho. This message is especially to the backslider, and to the sinner as well. I want you to know how much the Lord loves you. You may not feel as though you’re loved, but really you are; you’re very loved.
Luke 10:30-35, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves. A Certain man went from Jerusalem to Jericho; this has great meaning, as you will see. What happened to him? He fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him. Now notice this, they stripped him of his clothes and wounded him, and departed leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him. The priest and the Levite both passed by on the other side.
Then a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, note the good Samaritan; he was on a journey. He came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him. Who does that sound like? And went to him—he didn’t pass him by. He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine. Have you recognized Jesus in the Samaritan yet? And set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. I will repay thee when? When I come again.
Have You Gone Away from the Lord?
Apply this parable to Jesus and the backslider: A Certain Samaritan, Jesus, ministered to a sinner. Backslider, you who had once known the Lord, who once had left the world behind, you’re the one who went down. You left Jerusalem, that great, wonderful city of God, that heavenly Jerusalem of salvation. You had been clothed with the righteousness, holiness and purity of God. What beautiful raiment you wore! Then you lost it all.
Poor Backslider, today you are clothed in the rags of sin. Maybe you’ve been longing for someone to come your way. Perhaps many have passed you by. When you saw them coming, you thought you would get help. But they had no compassion, no love, no help; and they detoured around you. It’s a cruel world.
Won’t Someone Help Me!
You may be on drugs, wondering, Won’t somebody help me? Won’t somebody care? Maybe you’ve been on alcohol for many years, and drugs as well; and you’re almost totally destroyed, your brain ruined. Much of the time you can’t think right; you live in a stupor. But you’re wondering if someone somewhere will stop by. Oh, won’t you help me? Again and again you’ve been passed by.
You’re looking for Heaven’s love; but you’ve fallen so far away from God that you believe the devil when he tells you that nobody cares; you’ll never get back. Somebody does care; the Good Samaritan cares.
Let Jerusalem in this parable stand in your mind as a holy, pure, Christ-like place of salvation, all that’s embodied in the New Jerusalem soon to come down from God out of Heaven that John the Revelator wrote about: And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband (Revelation 21:2).
You’ve left that holy place, Backslider; you have no part of it at this time. Once your inheritance included Jerusalem, the holy city whose builder and maker is God (Hebrews 11:10). You were rich; you had been made a joint-heir with Jesus Christ, a joint-heir right here on Earth walking with King Jesus…but no longer. You went away from your heritage. We are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16,17).
The Total Night of Jericho
Jericho stands for all that is sinful, profane and ungodly. When you leave the heavenly Jerusalem and go down to Jericho, you come upon an awful scene. In Jericho you find total darkness, hate, people vicious, uncaring, and steeped in sin. Yes, that’s what this Certain Man came down to. When you leave God you go to nothing worthwhile. Everyone who leaves the Lord goes down into a spiritual night, everyone who lets go of Jesus’ hand.
Backslider, have you come to the place you want to get back to God? I don’t know what caused you to go down, I don’t know why you left the New Jerusalem of salvation and Heaven’s faith, Heaven’s love, Heaven’s grace, and Heaven’s compassion. It might have been the lack of prayer. It could have been a failure to read the Word of God. You can’t dwell in the presence of God without prayer and the Word any more than you can live without breathing. Go to the Word, use the Word, and talk to God.
I say again, Backslider, I don’t know what caused you to go away. Maybe you allowed the cares of life to come between you and God. Perhaps you grew discouraged with what was happening around you, in your home, on the job, or somewhere else. Did you become involved with the wrong kind of people? You can’t run with the world and not be spotted by it; you just can’t do it. Can two walk together, except they be agreed (Amos 3:3)? You need Jesus.
Robbed of Salvation
Where did this Certain Man fall whom Jesus tells us about? He fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Darkness, thieves are out there in the gloom, in the shadows of sin, fear, frustration and despair, thieves waiting to rob you of your salvation.
Thieves robbed this backslider of his beautiful heavenly garments that he would have worn to walk down the golden avenue; the garments of righteousness and salvation are stolen when a Christian backslides.
Thieves wounded and abused this Certain Man whom Jesus talks about. They didn’t love him; they hated him. Having no respect for life, they left him half-dead in the ditch. Not caring, they gloated over the act, glad they had robbed him and left him all alone with no one to care for him.
Many people in the world today are like the Certain Man who had come down from Jerusalem; they have no one to care about them. Some have AIDS, and feel they are so contaminated that no one wants anything to do with them; but I know one who cares. I know one who will help them; I know one who will deliver them. I know one who can heal them of AIDS, leprosy or any other death disease; it matters not. Jesus, when He walked among men, proved He could heal all manner of sickness and disease. And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matthew 4:23).
A Cry to the Wrong Person
Beaten, robbed on his way to Jericho, that Certain Man in Jesus’ parable lay half-dead and crying for help. Oh Backslider, maybe you’ve cried for help; but you’ve cried to the wrong person. There came down a certain priest that way. The priest, a type of the Law, passed by on the other side. How pathetic. This priest of the Law had no love for lost humanity. He lacked compassion and the message of the Redeemer, Jesus, the crucified Lord. He rejected the salvation that had been sent from Heaven, the message of divine blood that had come down.
As the priest walked past, the man’s heart lost a little more hope. He felt as though he were in quicksand. Tears rolled down his checks as he lay in the dirt, so tormented, so wounded, so bruised—and so without love.
Then a Levite came by—what did he do? He merely looked on him. People can merely look on a scene, but if they don’t have love, the suffering of others doesn’t touch them. If they don’t have love, they have no compassion for the sufferings and hurt they see.
This Levite was filled with the “good works” of self-righteousness and not much else. Isaiah the prophet said, All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). Our self-righteousness is like filthy rags in the eyes of God. The Levite was without the Jesus love, the Jesus love touch, the touch of Heaven. He, too, followed Law, and the Law was cruel, very cruel.
The Bible tells us that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified (Galatians 2:16). Paul explained much through the revelations God had given him. Down through the Old Testament years, people died for sins that the blood forgives today.
The Levite passed on by leaving this helpless man with even less hope. How long can I keep breathing? How long? I’m almost dead now! Oh, if someone would only help me! Child of God, do you hear these same cries of the lost today?
Have Compassion for the Lost
This message goes to many nations, and no matter what nation you’re in, we love you; no matter how unloved you may feel, we care because we have the one who came down from Heaven. We have Jesus. He is the one we serve, not ourselves; and that’s the reason we’re not about to pass you by; that’s the reason we’re ready to help you by the way of television, by the way of the printed page. We’ll be there with the Word of God; we’ll be there to serve you the pure Word. We’ll be there with books that tell you of His love, we’ll be there with our magazine that lets you know how God is blessing throughout the earth through this Jesus world outreach ministry.
The Levite passed by on the other side. Oh church members, wake up! Wake up all over the world! Wake up, and be alive in the Spirit of God! Don’t pass the weary backsliders by. They have done wrong, yes, but all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Some people use this verse to claim they can’t live free from sin: That’s false doctrine. All have sinned means that everyone at one time was a sinner who fell short of the glory of God before he or she found salvation.
A Cry of Desperate Humility
It looks as though all hope is gone now as that Certain Man cries another time, Somebody come! Oh please, somebody come! Somebody come and help me! It’s a humble cry now. Every high-minded thought, every rebellious spirit has gone. The callousness has melted from his heart, he’s crying out, weeping, humbling himself: Please anybody, somebody! Oh, I need you; I need your help!
You who have been delivered from drugs, alcohol and other sins that had held you in chains and almost destroyed your life completely until you thought you would never be free: Today you’re free, you’re free through taking the blood of Jesus into your heart. The Good Samaritan came to you. Others passed by, but the Good Samaritan stayed to bind your wounds.
That Certain Man who Jesus told about has misgivings now, fear, a distrust in humanity. He hears another man coming, but will he help? Although doubts had flooded in, still a faint hope glimmered; maybe this man will help. A certain Samaritan came his way, and what a journey he was on! Again, who does this Samaritan represent? None other than the King of Glory. Think about it! Isn’t this fantastic! All the way from Glory He has come to save lost sinners.
Jesus Has Come Your Way
The Bible says, as he journeyed. Yes, as Jesus journeyed, He made paths to all our doors. He hasn’t passed by a soul no matter how sinful, no matter how involved that one has become in the filth of the devil. Jesus didn’t pass you by; He has come your way.
Oh Sinner, today the Good Samaritan is coming your way. The King of Glory has come to a lowly backslidden creature who has gone down from that heavenly place of joy, righteousness and holiness. At one time you had been walking hand in hand with the Lord, but you let go. Now you’re lying in the dust, and it looks like the final, bitter end.
As the good Samaritan in Jesus’ parable journeyed, he came to where the Certain Man was. As Jesus, the Good Samaritan, journeyed, He came to where you and I were. When nothing else could help, love lifted you, and love lifted me. When nothing else could help, love journeyed our way, the love of Heaven, the very heart of God. God gave His beloved Son for a lost world; He gave His whole heart. Romans 8:3,4, For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Jesus Brought the Healing Balm
Sinner, although you can touch Jesus right now, this Certain Man didn’t know he could touch Him. Others had stayed away, others had kept their distance; but Jesus is different, He doesn’t keep His distance. He stands close within your reach.
When Jesus walked among men, as many as touched were set free; as many as touched Him were delivered from devil possession, healed. As many as touched Him rejoiced because their broken and bruised hearts were mended. And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all (Luke 6:19). Jesus had brought the healing balm from Heaven.
And when he saw him, that Certain Man felt his heart coming to life within him. That Certain Man had never before met anyone like the kind man who stopped to care for him. He wondered in that moment, “Will he walk away?”
Maybe you’re thinking the same thing; “Will Jesus walk away?” Sinner, you’re that certain man, that certain woman today. Will you walk away, Jesus, and leave them? Jesus looks right into your heart, and those eyes bring life. Oh no, I love them too much to walk away! I’m walking toward them; I want to walk right into their hearts and live with them forever! For he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5).
What Great Compassion Jesus Brought Us!
He had compassion on him. This is Jesus: Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34). Jesus knows what it means to be scorned; He knows what it means to be hurt. He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus was bruised for us; He was beaten with stripes, crowned with thorns and nailed to the tree for you and me. Oh dear, precious Jesus, we love you so very much!
The good Samaritan went to him, and Jesus, the Good Samaritan, has come to meet you. Not halfway, not three quarters of the way; He has come all the way from Heaven for you. No one else but Jesus was found in Heaven who could bring salvation to you and me.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). God didn’t give an angel; He didn’t give ten thousand angels; He gave His Only Begotten Son. As I said before, when God gave us Jesus He gave us His whole heart.
Why Die in Your Sins?
If you won’t accept the Good Samaritan Jesus,’ help, there’s no help for you. You will die in your sins, die by the roadside. No one will be there to love you. You’ll go to a place filled with unrelenting hatred, a place where no flowers bloom, nothing of beauty. How long will you be there? For all eternity; God will close the door on you forever. He’ll never hear your cries; He’ll never even listen to your pleas; He’ll never remember you.
Many people are deceived because they think the Good Samaritan will always be on their road no matter how often they reject Him. He won’t be. Go on, God, I don’t want your help, they say. Go on, I’ll get along without you. But what if this Certain Man had done that? Think what would have happened had he said, Go on, I’ll be all right without you. Go on, I don’t need you, go on! How tragic had he said that! A Certain Man needed help, and he accepted that help. Many people have been in a spiritual life-and-death situation, and they wouldn’t use the Lord’s help, wouldn’t let Jesus bind up their wounds. How sad to reject the Lord’s help, to turn your back on the only source of help, the only source of eternal life!
Our Foundation
Who is this man who has such a gentle touch that I feel my wounds being healed? the backslider wonders today. I feel the bruises and the soreness all going from my spirit and my body. Who is this man with such a tender loving touch? Who is this man so full of compassion and love? He is Jesus: Emmanuel, God with us. He is Jesus: our Lord, our Master, our Savior, and our Redeemer. He is Jesus: our Rose of Sharon, and our Lily of the Valley. He is Jesus: our strength, our love, our faith, and our help. He is Jesus: our compassion, our determination, our goodness, and our mercy.
The name is Jesus and there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 3:11). Jesus is your foundation, the only foundation to build upon that will keep your house safe for time and eternity. In the storms to come, be sure you’re on this true foundation, Christ Jesus.
The Good Samaritan bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine. Who are you, Sir? I am your Brother; I am your Mother; I am your Father; I am your Sister; I am your Friend; I am everything you need, and I have all the love you need.
As the Lord flows the wine and oil of the Spirit into us, we are being strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
And he set him on his own beast. The Lord doesn’t leave us stranded, He sees that we get where we need to go. He heals the sick, gives us the love and the life of the Holy Spirit.
Trust His Keeping Power
Are you afraid you can’t hold on to the profession of your faith? Let the profession of your faith in the blood of Jesus Christ as the Son of the living God hold on to you, and you’ll be all right.
Sometimes Christians think their salvation will slip from them unless they strain to keep it. No wonder they’re frightened! To think you’re in constant danger of backsliding is a stressful experience. Trust the Lord; He is the one holding you close. When you put your trust in Him, not self, you realize there is strength to hold you, power to keep you, blood power to give you all the help you need.
With great compassion, Jesus today still heals, delivers, and gives peace and joy. Put your trust in the Lord, I say again. The Psalmist wrote, They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever (Psalm 125:1). Mount Zion, that great New Jerusalem, cannot be removed. That heavenly Jerusalem, that heavenly city, will abide forever.
And he brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The Good Samaritan, Jesus, brought you to the body of Christ, to the Church of Jesus Christ. He brought you to a place of shelter. The Good Samaritan didn’t leave you alone after He saved you, neither was that Certain Man left alone after his wounds were cared for and he was able to sit on a little humble animal. That Certain Man, ego all gone by this time, was glad for every help given him.
Has the ego left you, Backslider? Has it gone out of you by now? I hope so! Oh Sinner friend, has it gone out of you, are you ready to be helped? Aren’t you tired of sin?
The good Samaritan of Luke 10 took that Certain Man to a place of shelter and security where he would be ministered to. The Lord takes us also to a place where we can be ministered to.
In the crusades I look for God to bring people to a reality in Him so they will be sheltered, cared for, loved. With compassion, the Lord brings people to holy living and deliverance from all sin. He brings people who will believe in the miracles and healings of the Lord, believe in all the truth. In other words, the Good Samaritan brings people to the Church of Jesus Christ; from Jericho to Jerusalem He brings people to a true servant of God.
Where Is the Other Penny?
And the good Samaritan, before he departed, he took out two pence. Much meaning is in this action. What were those two pence? They represent salvation and the baptism of the Holy Ghost. The Lord expects every preacher to preach the whole truth: salvation and the baptism in the Holy Ghost.
Two pence was a day’s wage in Jesus’ day, two pennies in our money. The good Samaritan left a supply for the whole day. The Lord has left us the supply for our whole day here on planet Earth, our whole day’s journey from Earth to Heaven. He left the whole supply; He left all of it in His holy Word, and He expects preachers to deliver it all.
What did the good Samaritan do with the two pence? He gave them to the host. The minister is the host, the true Church is the inn; and it takes both pennies to please God.
What about your host, the preacher of your church? Has he been faithfully spending and preaching the two pennies? Is he dispensing all they provide for your journey, your health, your comfort, your strength, your power, help and victory in Jesus? Many hosts have held back one penny, feeling they’re doing the whole will of God. They say, Come on: You can be forgiven; you can be saved. You must be born again, and that’s good enough. You’ve got your passport into Heaven. But where is the other penny? Jesus left two pennies for the host to use.
If your minister is not preaching the baptism of the Holy Ghost, ask him where that other penny is. He’ll want to know what you’re talking about. Just tell him you’ve been wondering about that other penny, for he’s been using only one penny to supply your spiritual needs, one penny to take care of your soul.
You have a right to ask why your minister doesn’t preach according to Acts 2:4. If he can’t think for the moment what is recorded in Acts 2:4, open your Bible and read: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
You Need Both Pennies
You need both pennies, I say again; the penny of salvation, of redemption for the soul, and the penny of the Holy Ghost baptism.
Peter, acting as host to three thousand people on the Day of Pentecost, dispensed the two pennies freely as he said, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38). The Holy Ghost, remember, is penny number two, the other penny. Too many churches today are not serving the other penny—and some of them don’t even serve the first penny. Signing a card, being baptized in water is their limit. Don’t feel satisfied if you are being served only the first penny. Don’t think you’re doing the whole will of God. Salvation is only half; the Lord gives two pennies for the host.
You can learn many lessons from this story of Jesus. If pastors would take the responsibility to preach the whole Word of God, there would be enough encouragement and grace, enough of the Word of God to support everybody in a beautiful way who wants to serve God. The whole Word will give people all they need, all the encouragement, the strength, and the help.
And whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Jesus will reward you when He comes. Unlimited acres of the Promised Land await God’s children; tell them about it. Go beyond those two pennies, preachers, teachers; go beyond. There’s much more God has for you to do, and it’s essential that you serve the two pennies first and then go forth.
Receive the Holy Ghost
Jesus served that one penny of salvation to the disciples, and told them the other penny would be served when He went away. He said, It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you (John 16:7). And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever (John 14:16). The Comforter won’t come if I don’t go away, but if I go away I’ll pray the Father and He’ll send the Comforter.
Jesus used both pennies when He was here. As the Holy Ghost descended upon Jesus in the form of a dove, John the Baptist watched. And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost (John 1:32,33). The beautiful second penny…why would people reject it?
Jesus commanded His disciples to receive the Holy Ghost—read it in the first chapter of the Acts of the Apostles. And, being assembled together with them, [Jesus] commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence (Acts 1:4,5). The Holy Ghost isn’t optional.
You say you have the Holy Ghost, but you didn’t get Him the way those in the Upper Room received Him on the Day of Pentecost? Then you didn’t get the Holy Ghost; you didn’t get that second penny. You rejoiced over salvation, the first penny, and took the second penny by mental assent. Mental assent isn’t being baptized in the Holy Spirit. The Lord provided the initial evidence, speaking in tongues, that would let you know you had the Holy Ghost, the second penny, power from On High.
Jesus Is Coming Again
It’s our reasonable service to serve both pennies and beyond, to serve the whole Gospel. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Romans 12:1). Paul didn’t serve just the two pennies, I…declare unto you all the counsel of God, he said (Acts 20:27). He declared it all.
The Good Samaritan said, when I come again, I will repay thee. When I come again, I will repay whatever you spent beyond. Jesus said: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also (John 14:3).
An angel said to the disciples: Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven (Acts 1:11). He’s coming again! Holy Lord God Almighty, Jesus is coming again!
Paul wrote, We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye (I Corinthians 15:51,52). When Jesus comes again, the Bride will be caught away to be with the Lord forever.
Only trust the Lord, and He will save you now. Trust Him now and receive now. When you trust the Lord, you receive. Jesus, the Good Samaritan, is passing your way.
That Awful Road to Jericho
A certain man went down…to Jericho. So many have traveled that way. While sinners were never in the Holy City, the backsliders once were there before they went down, down, down, and degraded themselves in the sins of Jericho. Leaving the light—the Word of God—behind, they entered darkness.
But the Good Samaritan is passing by. He’s not reluctant to go into Jericho where the sinners are. He’s not afraid to go into the saloons—or wherever He needs to go—to bring the sinners out. The Good Samaritan is working, and the Holy Spirit is working to bring the lost out of Jericho and to start them on their way back to Jerusalem.
From Jerusalem to Jericho, what an awful road it is, what a downward, rocky road—and yet the devil makes it look inviting. He plants flowers along the way, but they have no life. The grass he plants is false; he can’t give life to anything because he is all death. Always remember, the devil is death.
The road is steep going up to Jerusalem. Child of God, you’re on your way up; and every time you look, the Good Samaritan is right there with you, backing you with salvation and all the power of Heaven. He’s backing you up with divine blood, with joy unspeakable and full of glory (I Peter 1:8).
Drink from the Wells of Salvation
Always remember the night the Good Samaritan stopped by to set you free, to never leave you, to always look out for you. Remember when He brought you into grace and left the two pennies. There you found rest, help, love, and goodness, the goodness of Heaven. You found the love and faith of Heaven. His joy blesses you, churns up and down on the inside of you, and you sing:
This is why I’m so happy,
This is why I’m so free.
I’ve been drinking at the wells of salvation;
Won’t you come and have a drink with me?
Drink from the wells of salvation. Jesus said, He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). From your innermost being shall flow rivers of living water. Blessed be the name of the Lord! Our God is mighty! Our God is wonderful!
When you pray, you’re talking to God. Be conscious of that fact, the reality of it. It’s wonderful to talk to God! And when you read the Word, God is talking to you. Don’t forget these two statements: When you pray, you’re talking to God; and when you read the Word, God is talking to you. The Word will be more exciting when you realize it is God talk. The Word of God wasn’t just for people who lived years ago; the Word is for you right now; God is talking to you through His Word.
Let the Lord help you today. Your fellowship with the Lord should be real, Heaven real. That’s the way it was planned; that’s what came with the two pennies. Jesus paid your way; He paid for your keep, your security, and your supply. My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Don’t force Jesus to pass you by. I want every sinner to cry out to God, I want every backslider to come to Jesus. No matter how much you’re hurting today in sin, you can be set free. The Good Samaritan, Jesus, is reaching out with nail-pierced hands, and He has everything you need. If you don’t have Him, pray this prayer with me now:
Oh, God, hear my cry! I’m so sorry I’ve sinned against you, but I have come home; and I’m going to serve you, Lord, the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in, Jesus!
If you meant that prayer, now you can say: Hallelujah, He has come! Hallelujah, Jesus is mine!
You who are on drugs or alcohol, or are bound by other demonic spirits, you can be free: Thou foul tormenting devils, in the blood name of Jesus, in the holy blood name, come out! to never enter that person again.
Now pray, Oh, God, you’ve delivered me from devil possession, and I will serve you. I give my heart to you. I give my heart to the blood that stained the Old Rugged Cross, and I believe deliverance is mine!
When you walk down the avenue of Glory, you won’t be wearing an old worn tattered garment; you’ll have the best that Heaven can afford, garments pure and white, washed in the blood of the Lamb. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
You who are sick and afflicted, the devil has caused you to suffer, but the Good Samaritan has healing hands for you, Child of God. He is right here; He’s passing your way. He has come all the way from the New Jerusalem down to Jericho to heal you. Get ready for a miracle now; get ready for a healing. This is your hour, and no matter what death disease works in your body you can be free.
Lord, I call healing to the sick and afflicted. Heal, in the all-powerful name of Jesus! Heal, in the name of Jesus! Amen and Amen.
Aren’t you glad, Child of God, He didn’t pass you by? Aren’t you glad He loved you so much? Aren’t you glad He poured in the healing oil, the soothing oil, and the wine of the Spirit with the strength that you needed? He stood you on your feet and started you to that heavenly Jerusalem. Glory be to God, you’re on your way. One day you will lift up your eyes in Heaven because you’ve left Jericho behind, and the new Jerusalem will be your home for all eternity.
