Five Wonderful Pictures of Jesus
by Ernest Angley
May 2009
In our society today, people continually photograph their families and friends, and they treasure these pictures; but in this unusual message, I’m going to describe for you five glorious pictures of the One who should be your first love, Jesus Christ. I want you to burn these images into your mind and hang them in the gallery of your soul so you can draw on them daily. You will never find more beautiful pictures than the ones you’re about to receive, and I pray that they will mean everything to you. Jesus is the most unusual and remarkable personality I have ever met, and He’s the most beautiful man I’ve ever seen.
Divine Compassion
The first picture is that of a compassionate Christ. And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things (Mark 6:34). Notice that the Bible says the people were like sheep not having a shepherd; they were scattered everywhere with no one to lead them. How sad!
This grieved the Lord very much, and He began to teach them. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). Oh, how compassionate He was! He also said, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23).
His compassion was deeply rooted. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not (Matthew 23:37)! I had the privilege of sitting on the Mount of Olives one Sunday morning; and as I looked out over Jerusalem, I repeated this verse. The view made a beautiful picture as I sat overlooking the Holy City, and the image of His compassion was so strong that I could feel His great love and yearning. I could see tears of love rolling down His cheeks; and I could hear Him saying, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). Come to me; I’m the Savior of the world. I’ve come all the way from Heaven to show you the way there. What compassion He had for His creation!
In my services, people are healed and receive great miracles because I preach to them the compassionate Christ. No one has ever had that much compassion, showed so much love or given so much of themselves. What a great picture of compassion His is. I keep it hanging in the gallery of my soul all the time; and as I pray for people in the healing line, I remember that I’m serving them the compassionate Jesus, the great healing Christ who brought salvation down from Heaven!
The more you study this portrait of Jesus, the more the rivers of His great love, compassion and yearning to win the lost at any cost will flow into your innermost being. That great “go-ye” that is spoken of in the Acts of the Apostles will burn within you as it burned within the hearts of His servants in the beginning of the Church.
Divine Consideration
A considerate or thoughtful Christ is the second picture that I bring to you. Never had the world known such a spirit of thoughtfulness and consideration until Jesus came. He was their source of supply for everything they needed. He found time for everyone, answering their questions and giving of Himself.
The Bible says the common people heard him gladly (Mark 12:37). When Jesus entered a town, the people rushed to see and hear Him. He had come within their reach, and they were determined to receive miracles. Knowing that there might not be another opportunity to serve them, Jesus ministered to all their needs no matter how long it took.
On one occasion, this considerate Jesus realized how long the people had remained with Him and how weak they were. He turned to His disciples and said, Give ye them to eat. The disciples didn’t understand and asked, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat (Mark 6:37)? Jesus answered, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes (Mark 6:38). That wasn’t much in comparison to the size of the crowd, but he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass (Mark 6:39).
Prepare to Be Served
You have to get ready for miracles, but many today never do that. The disciples obeyed Jesus and prepared the crowd as He had directed. They probably wondered how this one was going to work; but having traveled with Him, they had witnessed all kinds of miracles. They were used to the considerate Christ and knew how thoughtful He was of people. And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties. And when he [Jesus] had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all. And they did all eat, and were filled. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes. And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men (Mark 6:40-44). The people were all fed and satisfied, and twelve baskets of scraps were left over. What a considerate Christ!
That’s the same Christ whom the Bible speaks of: My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). God will supply through Jesus Christ, His Son. Don’t ever let this picture of the considerate Christ disappear from the gallery of your soul. Treasure it and look at it daily. When you’re in love with someone who isn’t able to be with you all the time, their picture becomes very precious to you. You keep it where you can always see it, and love flows from that picture to you. You long to see them soon, and you think of all the wonderful things about them!
A Mighty Miracle
This considerate Christ is the One who came with healing for all, who brought the whole loaf and asked, Wilt thou be made whole (John 5:6)? That’s what He said to me one day when I was so nigh unto death at just twenty-three years of age.
I was so young, yet my body had wasted away to nearly a skeleton. I started preaching at eighteen, and God had always been so good to me that I wanted to live and tell the world about Him. He’d always been so real to me; but now He seemed to have shut His face away from me, and all I could do was cling to these pictures that I’m bringing to you. They were life to me.
I knew I was ready to meet the Lord, but so many people still needed to hear the truth. I’d cry, Lord, so many preachers don’t want to carry your Gospel, but I do; and I want to live. I know I’m called of you, but I don’t understand why I’m so near death when I’ve preached for just a short time. He didn’t seem to answer; but I still had these beautiful pictures of the compassionate and considerate Christ in the gallery of my soul, and they gave me comfort.
Eventually, it seemed that my faith was almost gone, and my time was running out. Hope was sinking fast, and I felt like I was in quicksand up to my waist and unable to break free. My heart began to give me trouble, and other organs were failing as well. I was getting worse instead of better, and prayer didn’t seem to help. I didn’t know why He would let me die, but then one night Jesus arrived! He didn’t send an angel; He came Himself and made me completely whole.
He was so real to me that night, and His power surged so mightily through every muscle and every nerve in my body that I knew I had to be healed. As I beheld His glory, I wanted to shout from the mountaintops, I’m going to live and carry His Gospel to the world! The healing Christ had come just as He had said He would. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings (Malachi 4:2).
After all these years, I still carry that miracle with all its strength and grace, and I relive it over and over again. What a beautiful picture of strength and love has been hanging in the gallery of my soul. It will remain there for all eternity.
Oh, God meant so much to me that night; it’s one of the greatest nights of my life. I constantly think back to that experience; His voice was so full of love and compassion. His glorious voice is like no other, and I just want to keep hearing it forever. His beautiful face is one that I never want to stop looking at.
Power from On High
Later, the Lord told me that I’d go on a long fast just like the one He went on in the wilderness. When I came out of that fast, He said I’d have His power for the healing of the people. Unbelievers will mock the power of God when they see people slain in the Spirit in my services, but they don’t realize what they’re laughing at. Many of them do it in ignorance because they have never learned about this wonderful Jesus who said, Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). I knew the truth, and I was made free!
When the Lord comes to me in visions, I don’t want His beautiful, wonderful face of love to ever leave. In it I see love for a lost and dying world and compassion for people everywhere. I see those nail-riven hands and feet, and I see His pierced side as that divine blood flowed from His body. He gave His all for a lost and sinful world. Oh, what a Jesus He is!
Divine Fellowship
The third picture is that of the communing Christ; Jesus believed in talking to His heavenly Father. He knew He had to pray; the Bible tells us, He departed into a mountain to pray (Mark 6:46). Jesus would leave the disciples at times and go away to pray all night long. He would linger in the presence of the Father, and He knew how to talk to Him. He was on the mount to bathe in the presence of His Father’s great strength and love and in the sunshine of His grace. He had been used to being by the Father’s side in Heaven; and now through grace, He was by the Father’s side again even though He was here on Earth.
It was so important to Him that He specifically taught the disciples how to pray and contact God. He came to Earth as a man saying, My Father will be your Father; He sent me to make you His sons and daughters. What a thought and what a picture! The Savior actually had the power to make us sons and daughters of God, members of the heavenly family who could live forever.
It looked like all had been lost in the first Adam when he failed God and went to the tree of death, but let this picture bring you the hope of new life. Keep it hanging in the gallery of your soul forever, and let the Holy Spirit bring it to your mind whenever you need it. Always remember that the Second Adam, the only begotten Son of God, brought the remedy for sin and sickness.
Listen to Jesus saying, Nicodemus, you must be born again. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again (John 3:3-7).
True Christianity is the hope of salvation for the whole world, but many won’t receive it. Its light is glorious; its love is contagious, and it will put a song in the heart of every child of God who will let the joy bells of Heaven ring. What strength and comfort it brings for those stormy days and nights! Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you (John 14:27).
Salvation Was Born
When Jesus was born, the angels rejoiced. An angel announced the birth of Christ, and the lowly shepherds heard and saw that angel themselves. Then they rushed to the manger to see that the picture of the Babe had become reality. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger (Luke 2:8-16).
The shepherds never forgot the picture of our salvation born in Bethlehem. When you find Him, you’ll never forget that picture either; it will live as you become a witness to His great redeeming power.
We Must Talk to God
The Bible says, Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Just as the divine blood made Jesus nigh unto His heavenly Father so that He could talk to Him face-to-face, His blood makes us nigh, too. God is now our Father; and in the name of Jesus we can come before Him, and His ears are open and ready to listen.
Prayer is the greatest way to talk to God, but it’s not what some people think it is. Prayer is not merely a time to petition the Lord and ask Him for what you need. Prayer should be filled with gratitude; there should be thanksgiving in that spirit of prayer.
I’m so grateful to the Lord for everything He does. I thank Him, and I grace His holy name again and again. I sing praises and make melody in my heart unto Him because He loves it. I enjoy making a joyful noise in His holy presence. The Bible says, O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph (Psalm 47:1). The Psalmist told us to make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands (Psalm 66:1). God hears a silent heart-song of thanksgiving and longs for your confidential talks with Him.
I’m subject to be talking to the Lord any hour of the day or night. The late night and early morning hours are such blessed times to commune with God. I long to be with the Lord and spend time with His Word. The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (John 1:14). That’s a beautiful picture to have hanging on the wall of my heart.
Linger in His Presence
Since Jesus has come, it’s wonderful that God will walk and talk with us and declare that we are His very own. He’ll walk with us just like He did with Adam and Eve in the holy Garden that was created for them. The blessed communion of the soul with its God is beyond me. I don’t understand why people don’t love prayer and talking with the Lord.
After I got saved, I begrudged the hours that I was unable to spend one hundred percent with the Lord. I’d rush home and shut myself away to be alone with the Lord, to praise and glorify Him. I didn’t ask Him for anything, but I praised Him for everything and glorified His holy name; and He’d lift me up to higher heights with Him.
God would let me know of things to come; and the Holy Spirit would take me over and sing in many different tongues, languages and dialects. It’s hard to tell how many different dialects that I’ve heard, especially in Africa, that the Lord has already sung through me years ago. He let me know that I would go to the nations. I never would have chosen this humble servant for such a gigantic task; but God made Himself so real to me, and He gave me the pictures of His Son that I’m bringing to you today. I have treasured them all these years, and they always remind me of the reality of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.
What a marvelous Savior we have! He established the line that connects us with the throne that His Father sits on night and day. It is a divine bloodline, and the devil is powerless to do a thing about it. Jesus opened up His soul before the Father, devoutly lifting up His heart to the tender, outreaching hand of God. Jesus is our example, and that’s what you can have in prayer. That’s what you can have when you go into your prayer closet and close the door. You shut the world and the devil out, and you’re in His holy presence where you can touch the very heart of God.
Depend on Jesus
The Bible tells us that at one time Paul preached all night long, but it’s hard to tell how many times he prayed through the night as well. When you’re with the Lord in His divine presence, you lose sight of time. There is where we learn holy submission.
Jesus had to learn it when He came to Earth as a man. His humanity showed up many times as He suffered and cried out in pain. The Bible declares that He was a man of sorrows. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3). When He was at Lazarus’ sepulcher, the Bible says Jesus wept (John 11:35).
Holy Submission
Jesus experienced the same feelings that we have. His flesh was weak just like ours, but He was strong in love and grace. The divine blood that flowed within Him made Him the great Second Adam, and the devil couldn’t defeat Him. It’s wonderful to know that we can walk like Him, talk like Him and act like Him; but we must recognize that we can’t make it without depending on Him.
We must learn holy submission just like Jesus did. Through many tribulations and persecutions, He learned to bring the flesh under subjection to the very will of the Father. His soul delighted in doing His Father’s will, and everything He did was because it was the Father’s will for Him to do it. He delighted in doing the will of the Father, and so it must be with us. Jesus knew how to yield to divine fellowship, divine friendship, divine devotion; and He taught us how to do it. As you study the Word of God, you will see His spiritual humility portrayed in a great way, and you must know that you can have the very same Spirit of Him—the same greatness, the same thoughts and the same mind of Christ. Paul said, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5).
Jesus, the Conqueror
The fourth picture I present to you is that of the conquering Christ. And about the fourth watch of the night he [Jesus] cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out: For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid. And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered (Mark 6:48-51). You need to understand the full revelation of this account. Jesus had spent most of the night on the mount praying while the disciples slept. He had talked to the Father in holy communion, and then it was time to walk the waters. He was always the conquering Christ!
Here, Jesus showed the deepness of His greatness, love and faith. He had taught the disciples faith and had given it to them; but when the storm was raging, Jesus wasn’t there. He had gone off to pray and told them to set sail, that He would meet them later. However, they weren’t expecting to see Him walking the waters to get there.
The disciples were expert fishermen who were accustomed to the sea; but this was a very severe storm, and they were afraid they were going to die. Then Jesus, as a man, showed them what great faith they could have. When you have the divine blood, you too can use divine faith, divine love, divine peace and divine joy. This account gives us a clear picture of the divinity of His lordship. He walked the water like it was pavement, and it must have been a wonderful sight to see! But the disciples didn’t think so at the time; it frightened them even more than the storm because they were sure they were seeing His Spirit.
They didn’t really know the conquering Christ; but with just one wave of His hand, the sea became calm. There was peace at last. And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39). Hear Him saying those words over and over when your waters are troubled. His is the hand we should put our trust in and the everlasting arm we should lean on. We must realize just how important that everlasting arm is to us.
Christ Brought Deliverance
The wild, angry Sea of Galilee became calm with Christ’s words, Peace be still; and He still speaks those words today. When the Lord speaks, things happen. He speaks in my services; and untold thousands are delivered from devil possession, voodoo and witchcraft; multitudes of devils come under subjection in just moments of time. Thousands of people receive the gift of the Holy Ghost that is promised to all believers who will obey Him. And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him (Acts 5:32). How wonderful our Lord is; He’s the master of all our seas. The voice of our Lord speaks, and diseases of all kinds depart. When you’re close to the Lord, you’ll hear His voice ringing out loud and clear, Be not afraid, only believe (Mark 5:36).
The angel who announced Christ’s birth said, Thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins (Matthew 1:21)—that includes the guilt and the penalty of sin. Hallelujah!
Christ cleansed us, gave us pure hearts and made us holy like Him. Christ, our Redeemer, gave us power over everything the devil brings against us. By the stroke and the might of His hand, He delivers people from ignorance, superstition, fear and all the powers of the devil. In our crusade services, we minister to acres and acres of people; and it never ceases to thrill me as I watch the Lord minister to each one individually. But it takes total dedication and consecration. Jesus said, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting (Mark 9:29).
The Miraculous Voice of the Lord
Jesus came saying, I have overcome the world (John 16:33); and we are to be overcomers of the world, too. We shouldn’t be in despair, depression or oppression because Jesus came to destroy them all. God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38). He came to deliver and set people free!
It’s wonderful to know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Master, to know Him in His divinity and understand that one wave of His hand has more strength and power than twenty thousand men.
It only took the words of Christ to bring about His first miracle. And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now (John 2:2-10). Only water was put into those pots, but it turned into wine at His command.
Christ’s All-Powerful Word
On another occasion, Jesus spoke and brought death. And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he [Jesus] came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God (Mark 11:13,14,20-22). The disciples were amazed that the fig tree wilted and died when Jesus cursed it, but He didn’t like the fact that the tree had no fruit. He feels the same way today about human beings who bear no fruit. We must produce fruit for the Lord.
Divine Comfort
The fifth and final picture is that of the comforting Christ, the One who came with good news for all. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also (John 14:2,3). What an insurance policy of eternal life this is! Then Christ went on to say, Because I live, ye shall live also (John 14:19).
Paul had this picture of the comforting Christ when he said, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me (Galatians 2:20). Paul had not only this picture but also the other four hanging on the walls of his soul. Study the Pauline Epistles, and all these pictures will be magnified for you. We enlarge pictures of people whom we want to keep close to our hearts, and the Holy Spirit will enlarge these pictures of Christ for you as you study the writings God gave to Paul. They will take on new life and become just like flashing billboards in your heart and mind.
Jesus brought divine love, joy, faith, peace, goodness, longsuffering and self-control. He is our rock. When storms are raging all around us, we must know that we have our Lord’s grace and power and that our house built on the rock, Christ Jesus, will stand. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it (Matthew 7:24-27).
Don’t let the storm come in, and definitely don’t let the devil frighten you into venturing out into the storm to escape. Think, Peace be still, and look at the pictures in the gallery of your soul. I’ve looked at them down through the years; and they bring the direction, the peace and the divine joy I need.
The Comfort of the Holy Ghost
Besides Himself, Jesus provided us with another Comforter. Listen to Him say, Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you (John 16:7).
We must treasure this Comforter that Christ provided for us. Next to receiving Christ as your Savior, there will be no greater day in your life than when you receive the Holy Ghost baptism. But some of you haven’t gone on to receive Him. Read about this great gift in the Acts of the Apostles. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:1-4).
The disciples were gathered together waiting for the great promise that Jesus had told them about, and He let them know they couldn’t start His church until they received it. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high (Luke 24:49). They were all glorifying the Lord, and they all had before them these five pictures of Christ that I’ve presented to you.
Don’t Lose Sight of the Pictures
There’s much more to these pictures than I can possibly tell you; but the more you study them, the larger and more precious they will become. Always keep them in mind, and you will receive more of the life of Christ. I’ve looked at them so many times through tear-dimmed eyes, and they have given me comfort. I’ve looked at them during long fasts, seeking to find all of Jesus and all of His will so that I could serve the whole Christ to a lost and dying world.
I’ve found that I needed all of these pictures when the storms were raging and the nights were so dark. But the sun can’t always shine or we would miss the moon and the beautiful stars that God has placed in the sky, and we would never hear His voice saying, And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever (Daniel 12:3).
Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled
Jesus came and brought the secret to having an untroubled heart. It’s our rightful heritage to have it; it’s the will of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Master said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee (Hebrews 13:5). Then the Holy Spirit, our other Comforter, brings His tenderness, greatness and sweetness to dwell with us forever.
Jesus was always thinking of our comfort. Recall the story in the Gospel of Luke where Jesus appeared following His Resurrection. Two of the disciples were discussing how troubled they were about Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection when they met a man they believed to be a stranger. They didn’t recognize Him as Jesus at first, but He walked along with them and answered all their questions. After they had poured out their hearts to Him, He answered, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight (Luke 24:25-31).
The pictures of Him on the walls of their souls came to life, and they brought such joy and gladness that the disciples rushed back to Jerusalem. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon (Luke 24:32-34). I’m sure they forgot all about eating that night as they hurried to the other disciples declaring, Rejoice! We’ve seen Him; He is alive!
Know Christ
I have given you these five wonderful pictures of the Son of God—a compassionate Christ, a considerate Christ, a communing Christ, a conquering Christ and a comforting Christ. They are always before the Father, and we must always keep them and carry them with us. Those who do that will mount higher and higher in the Lord and come into more and more of the knowledge and greatness of God.
You must know in whom you believe; and when you do, you can behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29). He is our Savior, and He is our healer. By whose stripes ye were healed (I Peter 2:24). Divine blood cleanses the soul and heals the body. Are you going to claim it?
Accept Your Miracle
It’s so easy to receive a miracle, but miracles don’t come through doubt, fear and frustration; they come through truth and faith. Many times people come into my healing line to get a touch, and they leave satisfied with feeling the Spirit; but they never accept the miracle. Why don’t they accept the miracle and quit suffering? God offers miracles to all people, but they must accept them. Feeling the power of the Spirit is your sign, and that was the sign the Lord gave me the night He came and healed me. So much power came upon me that I couldn’t even stand on my feet. I’d never felt such power, so I know what people are experiencing.
After receiving the gifts from the Lord, I had His power to lay hands on the sick; and when I did, many of them fell under that power. The first time it happened, I just reached out; and the person fell like she was dead. I thought, Oh, my God, did I touch her that hard? But it didn’t change when I held my hand six inches away or even a foot away. At times, people would be walking down the aisle, and I’d just throw up my hand crying, “In the name of Jesus;” and they would fall to the floor. That’s when I decided, Lord, move any way you want to; but just move!
It’s Time for Greater Works
Of course, there are those who try to fake the power and miracles of God; but those works won’t last. God’s miracles last only if you stay with the Lord. Remember, the Lord healed a man and said, Sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:14). And that does happen to people; I’ve seen it.
People are being healed all over the world through this Jesus ministry. As the Lord moves on me, the Holy Spirit speaks, Be thou made whole; and it happens. The Lord said He would even renew your youth. Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Psalm 103:5). I feel stronger today than I did in my thirties and forties.
This ministry is getting greater and greater, and God is doing wonderful things today. In the past, many preachers taught that one day mass miracles would come. They are here; the latter rain is falling. The Early Church received the early rain, but now we’re receiving the latter rain. I have studied the Acts of the Apostles many times, and I have read and reread the prophet Joel’s prophecy spoken more than twenty-five hundred years ago: And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh (Joel 2:28). This is the pouring out time, so why will you let yourself remain afflicted? If you’re a child of the King, you’re eligible to be healed. Don’t just ask for a few crumbs or for the Lord to take the pain away; tell Him you want to be made completely well all over.
The Devil Is a Robber
You can have healing today for AIDS, cancer, diabetes, heart trouble, lung trouble, leprosy, strokes or any other affliction. If you have a child who was born with just part of a brain, the Lord can re-create it. He’s done it many times through this Jesus ministry, and I’m a believer! Behold the healer of all your diseases today: Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever (Hebrews 13:8). All you have to do is believe Him, and never allow the enemy to talk you out of anything you receive from God. He told you the devil is a robber and that he comes only to steal. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44).
The devil will try to steal every blessing you receive; and in this day, he’ll battle your mind to the point that he’ll even make you doubt your salvation and the wonderful baptism of the Holy Ghost. I don’t doubt God. He said a believer would lay hands on you, and then He specifically promised that you would get well. You must believe that! And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18). Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away all sin and sickness, and He came to destroy them both.
Live by Faith
Are you a believer or a doubter? Are you living in your feelings, or are you living by faith? The Bible says, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). You can’t be justified unless you’re living by faith. You’ll never do the will of God by living in your feelings; faith and feelings have nothing in common. Feelings are deceiving; you can feel happy one moment and sad the next. You may feel like you have your miracle until one pain convinces you that you don’t. When you live in your feelings, you’ll listen to the devil rather than the Holy Spirit.
The Lord said seven times in a short space in the great book of Revelation, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches (Revelation 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22). Those are Christ’s own words that He dictated to John the Revelator on the Isle of Patmos, and that’s exactly what I do. I listen to the Spirit, and I’m directed by the Spirit; and I’m always ready to leave all sickness behind. Divine blood can heal everything; the Word says so.
I’m not a healer, and I have no secret powers of my own. I know it’s all the power of God, so I expect miracles. The Lord said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). That includes everything—spiritually, physically and financially.
The Promises Are Conditional
I seek to meet the condition of every promise so I will never come up lacking when I help people. You too have to meet the conditions of the promises. The Lord told the Israelites, Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses (Joshua 1:3). A land flowing with milk and honey was theirs, but they had to claim it.
The promises of God are just words on paper until you meet the condition of the promise. God gave me such a divine revelation on that. People would say they were claiming a promise, but they hadn’t met its condition. The Lord promised He would give back to us, but we first must give. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over (Luke 6:38). The Lord also said that if we tithed, He’d open up the windows of Heaven to us. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10). Do you have God’s hands tied?
Claim the Promises
God told the Israelites that because of their unbelief, they couldn’t enter the land of Canaan. Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me: Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD. And the LORD’S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed (Numbers 32:11-13). God waited while multitudes died in the wilderness.
God means business, and you have to mean business with God. The Lord said that to make a covenant with Him and not keep it is worse than not making a covenant at all. When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay (Ecclesiastes 5:4,5). How many times have you promised God something and then didn’t keep your promise? If you haven’t kept your word, you should repent now so you’ll be ready for whatever you need. I make God promises, but I keep those promises. I carefully study them and hold on to them so I can help all people who really want to be helped. I take a powerful, fresh anointing from Heaven for every message; and I preach nothing but truth.
See Jesus and Repent
You must always keep these five pictures of Christ in mind and know the Lamb of God. I want you to see Him right now. The Lord has sent me to shine the light upon all those who are sitting in darkness. Jesus came and brought the light from Heaven to light up the whole world, and now He’s lighting up your path to Calvary. If you don’t come out of the darkness you’re in, you may never have another chance.
Through His great love, Jesus made Himself to be all of these pictures for you and me. No one has ever loved you like Jesus loves you, and no one has ever cared for you like He cares. Sinner and Backslider, Jesus wants you to know that He really cares about you and that He wants to be your big brother as well as your Savior. He wants His Father to be your Father.
Lift up your hands and pray this prayer. Oh, God, I now know that Jesus loves me and that He came from Heaven to bring the love that forgives me, saves me and gives me grace to live free from all sin. I know there’s power in His divine blood to wash away all of my sins, and I believe that blood washes them all away right now. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, now you can say, Hallelujah! Jesus is mine! Always remember the pictures of Him and let Him speak to you daily; have communion with Heaven.
Receive a Miracle
This kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). This kind is the miracle kind, and now it’s time for miracles from the Christ who came with healing in His wings. He touched the blind, and they cried, “I can see!” He touched the crippled, and they were made whole. He touched the deaf, and they heard. He’s alive forevermore!
Claim the promise and take a miracle for yourself. Lord, I bring the sick and the afflicted to you. In the name of Jesus I agree with them. You are the healer! Heal, in the blood name of Jesus! Heal, with the all-powerful blood name!
Jesus came with healing in His wings of love. He came with the dove of peace, the Holy Spirit; and He’s letting us know that all is well because we are in the safety of the ark, Jesus.
Always remember: Earth has no sorrow that Heaven can’t heal; Earth has no burden that Heaven can’t lighten. Keep the five pictures of Jesus ever before you, and Christ will be your all-in-all. Always look to Jesus, and God bless you is my prayer.
