Faith with no results—how pathetic it is; yet that kind of faith is in the lives of many Christians today. What’s this all about? What has happened with people? James gives us insight: Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone (James 2:17). People have faith, but what kind do they have? Faith with no results? Divine faith brings results, but divine faith has to be used; if you don’t use it, there are no results. To use it or not to use it is left up to you.

Without works, you have dead faith. If your faith isn’t getting anything done, isn’t reaching to the throne of God in time of crisis, in the deepest valleys and the darkest nights, you don’t have the right kind of faith.

Jesus asked the disciples, Where is your faith (Luke 8:25)? He knew they had faith; God had given them faith. The Bible declares that God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). The disciples were not using the faith God had given them; they were afraid. They let fear take them over, and because they didn’t overcome it, they had more and more fear. Why are so many people afraid today? They won’t use what God has given to them; they won’t use the faith of God.

A Direct Line

Faith is a direct line to the throne of God twenty-four hours around the clock; faith tells you that you can call Jesus any time. You say: Father, in the name of Jesus I come, and you’re connected with the throne immediately. Heaven is so close that just one more step can take you from Earth to Heaven. Isn’t that wonderful! The blood has made heaven nigh; we can come before the throne of grace while we’re still here on Earth. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). That privilege is for people with the right kind of faith—the faith of God.

By Faith They Did Wonderful Works

Why would you settle for anything less than the faith of God when you can have the best? What do you think the eleventh chapter of Hebrews is written about? Dead faith? Notice the works: By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son (Hebrews 11:17). By faith Abraham did that.

By faith Joseph saw the return of the Israelites to their homeland: By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones (Hebrews 11:22).

By faith Moses made the right choice: By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward (Hebrews 11:24-26). By faith—God’s faith. If your faith doesn’t have works, you’re not getting anywhere with it—it’s dead faith. You can weep over dead faith all you want to, you can even send flowers to it, but it’s best to get rid of it and take on live faith.

Works Prove Your Faith

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works (James 2:18). Your works prove that you have faith in God. You may tell people you have all kinds of faith, but just one kind of faith gets the work done—Heaven’s kind. If you have all kinds of faith, you’re in trouble. You would do well to have a big funeral, bury all those different kinds of faith, and then ask the Lord for the right kind. The right kind of faith won’t mingle and mix with all other kinds; bury that dead faith so deep that it will never, never show up again.

Live faith is the kind of faith the Holy Spirit uses to work with us, for us, and to help us to do God’s will. The Holy Spirit will not work through you with dead faith; He won’t touch dead faith. To be your helper, your guide, your teacher, the Holy Spirit teaches and guides through live faith.

Show me your faith, James is saying. It’s wonderful for people to see the works of God through a child of God. If you have God’s faith, it’s going to work.

Pray with Live Faith

Pray with live faith. There’s no need to try to pray if you’re using dead faith. Dead faith will go only as high toward Heaven as your physical voice reaches, but live faith catches up that petition and takes it right to the throne of God.

When your prayers are not being answered, find out why. Are you praying against the will of God, or are you ready for Him to do His will? Are you ready for the faith to work the way God wants it to work? God’s faith has to work as He ordained it to work; it’s not going to work any other way for you to get prayer after prayer answered.

God wants to answer our prayers, but many times we won’t accept and use God’s faith daily the way we ought to. God’s faith has to be used. You can’t wear it out. Know what great things God’s faith will do!

Devils Believe—and Tremble!

Some people say they have faith because they believe there’s a God. But James wrote: Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble (James 2:19). You haven’t gone beyond the devils with that kind of faith. The devils believe there is a God so much that they tremble. God’s judgment is real to them, but God wants to be real to you in a loving, kind way. See the difference? Your very flesh may tremble in the presence of God through the power of the Holy Spirit—that live faith working on the inside of you—but you won’t tremble in fear of judgment.

Faith with no results—what worth is it? It’s junk; why would you want to carry it around? Preacher, you’re talking about my faith. Dead faith is worthless, no one will buy it; there’s no market for dead faith. Get rid of it so you can have live faith. Dead faith and live faith just won’t mingle together; they’re not companions; they don’t love each other.

Healing Prayer Was a Way of Life

When I was a child I saw the works of God week after week in my home. No dead faith there—it was live faith, the Jesus faith. Heaven’s best is what my people used.

Early one morning, I saw my mother in a dying condition—I wasn’t saved; I was just a sinner boy—and it looked like Mama would take her last breath at any time. But a man of God came in, prayed for her, and instantly she was healed through live faith. When the preacher left, she got out of bed and went into the kitchen to make breakfast for her children. There she was in that kitchen singing; you wouldn’t have known she’d ever been sick—and she had been right at death’s door just minutes earlier. Live faith will do that kind of work.

Jesus said, These signs shall follow them that believe…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18). Healing prayer was a way of life for me as a child. When we children got sick we were prayed for first and foremost; there were many miracles and healings in our home. Growing up, I saw again and again God’s people laying hands on the sick and the sick getting well. My mother prayed for us children any hour of the day or night if we were ill, and we got well. Mama’s prayers were strong, stronger than any medicine we knew about. I thought it was wonderful to get a prayer instead of a dose of medicine.

Some of the medicine in those days tasted awful; there seemed to be a common belief that castor oil would cure everything. Just hearing that you were about to be given a dose of castor oil was enough to get you well—it was that awful! They’d give me a big tablespoon of castor oil and hold my nose until I swallowed it. There wasn’t a chance of spitting it out, not a chance to waste it. Prayer was much better, and it did me more good; it helped build the faith in me today. I not only have a foundation of salvation for everyone, I have a solid foundation of faith: faith that saves, faith that heals, and faith that delivers—the faith of God.

Signs Follow Believers

Faith gets your prayers answered. Do you wonder why your prayers aren’t getting through? Check and see what kind of faith is in the tank, so to speak, what kind of fuel you have. If your prayers aren’t going anywhere, find out why. God’s faith reaches Him; God’s faith works; it does all kinds of wonderful things through human beings. Believers—people with faith in God—will lay hands on the sick and they will get well. Through faith in my name, Jesus said, believers will cast out devils. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils (Mark 16:17). Jesus is talking about live faith, the works of faith.

Some churches don’t believe in casting out devils. Why? Because they have dead faith. They don’t believe in miracles and healings either. Why? Dead faith, again. Miracles and healings are the wonderful works of faith. Faith in God heals the sick; the Bible declares it. Dead faith doesn’t belong to God; He has nothing to do with dead faith. Live faith comes from God; when He gives you faith, He gives you His heart, His mind, His greatness, and in return, He wants you to be His hands, His eyes, His ears. God wants you to work for Him, to do the same works His only begotten Son did when He was here on Earth. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God (Romans 8:16). We are sons and daughters of God, made that way through the divine blood of Jesus.

Where Is Your Faith?

Why should the Lord ever have to ask where your faith is? And when he [Jesus] was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm (Matthew 8:23-26). Jesus was asking the disciples, Where’s the faith that I have given you? I’m disappointed in you! The disciples out on the boat in an awful storm thought they were going down. They had faith, but it wasn’t alive like it should have been; they were not alive in the Spirit. You must be alive in the Spirit to use the faith of God.

Faith with no results—the disciples had that before the Resurrection. Thomas’ faith was dead. He thought he had live faith because he’d been with Jesus, but just to be with Jesus and to be blessed of the Lord doesn’t mean that you have live faith. What happened to Thomas when he got away from Jesus, when Jesus wasn’t using the faith for him? Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe (John 20:24,25).

Now it was time for Thomas to use the faith the Lord had given to him, and he didn’t use it. Instead it was dead faith with no works. Thomas crawled away to find a hiding place, and for eight days he wouldn’t even meet with the other disciples. He said he was having no more to do with it: We were deceived; Jesus is dead. And after eight days again his [Jesus’] disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed (John 20:26-29).

Dead Faith Is Not Rewarding

Dead faith will say that Jesus is dead; He’s not been resurrected. Dead faith will tell you that the Holy Ghost didn’t come from Heaven as Jesus said He would. Jesus said, I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:16,17). Jesus prayed to the Father and the Father sent the Holy Ghost from Heaven to fill every vessel in the Upper Room that had emptied up and was ready to be filled up. Isn’t that marvelous!

Dead faith is not rewarding; dead faith does not do anything glorious, anything wonderful. Dead faith does not carry a burden for the lost or pull for the lost to come to Calvary. Dead faith doesn’t preach a live Gospel, doesn’t tell the greatness of the blood; no, a thousand times no. Dead faith will say that to join a church, shake the preacher’s hand, and be baptized in water will make you a fit citizen for Heaven. But that isn’t what the Bible says.

Dead faith is full of criticism; it has a critical spirit. Dead faith is always ready to tear down God’s work, but never ready to build it. It’s ready to tear down God’s people, not to lift them up. Dead faith is always grumbling and complaining, and it produces no positive results. The Holy Spirit won’t handle dead faith, and He won’t handle you or use you to do the work that you’re supposed to do for the Lord if you have dead faith.

The faith that came from Heaven tells us: Ye must be born again (John 3:7). That’s the faith of God in Jesus Christ. Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish (Luke 13:3). If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Man shall live by the faith of the Lord, by the faith of God in His holy Word; and that makes good living, good strength, and greatness for you. There’s no need for you to be cast down without works, without answers to your prayers, without getting anything done, without helping to win souls.

If you have the faith of God, you’re going to help to win souls in this final hour. The call has gone forth from Heaven, a faith call, a divine call. Faith hears the voice of the Lord through the Word, through the Spirit in many different ways. Faith carries the burden for lost and sinful humanity. Faith has no prejudice; it loves everyone, all lost souls. But dead faith doesn’t love; it is full of prejudice. It asks me why I go to other nations instead of just preaching in my own nation, to my own people. That’s selfish faith and God doesn’t have that kind of faith.

The Word Prevailed

It’s tragic the way people have treated God, the way they have let the devil give them a counterfeit for live faith. In the beginning of the Church, the Christians had live faith, the faith of Heaven, the faith of God; they used it and it worked. Laypeople became ministers of the Gospel, serving the Gospel; they were people who got results. Experiencing the wonderful works of Jesus, many were healed and received the message of salvation. The Word multiplied, increased, and prevailed, the Bible tells us. And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith (Acts 6:7). Mightily grew the word of God and prevailed (Acts 19:20). Faith did it—the Word was preached through faith; the name of Jesus was spoken through faith. The Early Church used the name of Jesus, the Word, the Holy Ghost; with live faith they got the job done. Dead faith will not serve the true Word of God. Dead faith always mixes in with the false, and it won’t work.

Live Faith Does Not Compromise

Live faith gives the truth in love. There’s no compromise in live faith. Daniel had live faith in the lions’ den; he wouldn’t compromise. The Hebrew boys had it in the fiery furnace, and they didn’t bow. Live faith will cause you to put your life on the line for the Lord.

Stephen had that live faith: And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people. Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God. And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council, And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law: For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us. And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel (Acts 6:8-15). Stephen didn’t compromise.

Look for the Works

Dead faith has nothing to build you up with, nothing to help you, inspire you. Get away from people with dead faith unless it’s “a have to” case; flee for your life. Talk to people who have live faith.

How will you know who has live faith? Look for their works. One of the nine fruits of the Spirit is faith. Faith is produced by the Holy Spirit and increased on the inside of you, multiplied, multiplied, multiplied. Love is multiplied.

Live faith carries the evangelistic spirit that Jesus brought. Jesus said to the disciples in the Great Commission: This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations (Matthew 24:14). The Gospel must be preached with the faith of God.

When the Gospel is preached with the faith of God, the Lord confirms it with signs, wonders, miracles and healings. If the Lord doesn’t confirm it, it’s dead faith. The Lord confirms the works of live faith. With His holy Word He brings about holy works through His holy faith working in human beings.

Look for the works.

Faith Has Love and Joy

Faith is a gift from God; the Lord never gives something dead for a gift. He doesn’t give you dead love, dead joy or dead peace. No, what the Lord gives you is full of life. The Bible tells us, The joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). The joy of the Lord has strength, love. Love has plenty of faith, that’s the reason God’s love will do so many wonderful works.

Do you give that wonderful love-touch to people? Or do you give sour grapes and frowns, dead faith? Don’t speak to me. I should think not. It’s easy for me to pass by a growling dog. I don’t care if he is behind a fence; I’m not going to bother him. And I don’t care if you’re behind a fence; I’m not going to bother you if you’re grouchy. You’ve fenced yourself off and I’m going on, happy, singing in faith.

Faith will move mountains; faith will help you out of all the valleys; faith will take you right to the throne of God, and praise God, no one can push you out of the way! But dead faith does not have those results.

You’ll never get into God’s presence with dead faith; you’ll never do His wonderful works. Faith without works is dead. You may say you’re saved, that you have faith in God; but if you have no works to go with it, you have dead faith. That’s what James said, and all I can do is preach the Bible to you.

Contend for the Faith

Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God (James 2:22,23). Abraham showed perfect faith by his works, by obeying God’s instructions and offering his only begotten son whom he had waited for so many years. Abraham had his whole heart set on Isaac, and when he offered him, he gave all. But Abraham had such faith in God that he believed if he did sacrifice his son before God on that altar that God would raise him up because God could not lie, and God had promised a nation would come from that one seed. That is live faith!

The Bible tells us to contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3). I bring this verse before God many times, and I let the devil know that I have that same faith Abraham had, faith that can’t be defeated. That Abraham faith has plentiful works. Do you have plentiful works? Live faith takes people to the altar to help others through to victory. Live faith works, shows people the way, encourages—and people need encouragement.

Faith Can Do Great Works in the Family

The living faith of God marked my life completely. I was so influenced by living faith until in the human spirit—not the divine spirit—I could use more of it as a child and a teenager growing up than a lot of Christians I see today. Why? Because I knew there was a live faith and I honored God for it. Although I wasn’t living for God at that time, I believed the prayer that went up in our home would bring results.

When I came to this section of the country, I found that many here didn’t know what a family altar was. It’s a place where Mom and Dad gather the children around and pray with them. My parents prayed with us, and they got results; divine faith produced works through their children. Two of those children have already made it safely to Heaven, and that’s wonderful! Mom and Dad instilled live faith into them, faith that they couldn’t get away from.

Live faith will touch a child again and again. Live faith has such a strong voice that even children can hear it. Honey, you shouldn’t do that. You’re not supposed to do that. This is the way. That’s the parents’ works of faith.

Ever give an encouraging word: That’s the work of faith. Helping people: That’s a work of faith. Praying with others, helping others to go through to the Holy Ghost baptism: That’s a work of faith. To aid the fallen ones is a work of faith.

Faith with no results is an awful thing for anyone to have; it’s really worse than cancer, TB, or any other disease. Idle faith, dead faith is destructive; it has destroyed many, many people, sent people to hell.

Greater Works

Dead faith takes no one to Calvary. It says there’s no need to put forth the effort to receive salvation. Dead faith tells you that you don’t need to fast; Jesus paid it all. But Jesus said, This kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). He also said that after He went away His disciples would fast. When the bridegroom shall be taken away from them…then shall they fast in those days (Mark 2:20). Are you a disciple of Jesus? If you have His faith, His love, then you are a disciple; you’ll have His works. As His wonderful works flow through you, people will see that you’re walking in the steps of Jesus.

Faith in God heals the sick; faith in God saves people through the blood of Jesus. Live faith—God’s faith—uses the blood that Jesus brought from Heaven almost two thousand years ago. That blood is still available, every drop of it; it was divine blood that can never be destroyed, not in all time and eternity.

Through the blood, that divine faith comes, that divine love flows; and then people see the wonderful, godly works. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:12,13). How will you do those works? With live faith. With the same love, the same faith of Jesus, you will do the same works—and more—because Jesus went to the Father.

The Comforter Has Come

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, thathe may abide with you for ever (John 14:16). Faith tells you that you have that other Comforter if you’ve been baptized in the Holy Ghost; and if not, you can be baptized. But dead faith tells you it isn’t necessary to have the Holy Ghost; it isn’t necessary for the Holy Ghost to speak when He comes in. However, in Acts 2:4, They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,as the Spirit gave them utterance. Live faith will never deny that utterance, that wonderful sign, the initial evidence of the baptism of the Spirit.

On the Day of Pentecost as the Holy Ghost was speaking in different tongues and languages, the people declared, We do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God (Acts 2:11).

There are many evidences of the Holy Ghost baptism, but the first evidence is speaking with tongues. The Holy Spirit Himself speaking through a human being—it’s marvelous! And if you have live faith you agree; if you have dead faith you disagree. With dead faith you don’t have power for service, power to do wonderful works for the Lord.

Some people think God isn’t performing miracles today because they’ve prayed for people with no results. They decide that people don’t get healed today, that all the Early Church did has gone out of style; it was for yesterday. But faith tells you that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Praise God forevermore!

What do you have? Where is your faith? If you have that God-given faith today, you can have a miracle, a healing, a deliverance. If you don’t have live faith, know that you can have it; the Lord is delivering it. He is giving it to people who will yield to the blood of Jesus to have their sins washed away; He will give a measure of faith so they can find Calvary.

You who doubt the saving power of Calvary, look to the Lord today and pray: Lord, I want faith to believe what that man is preaching. I want faith to believe your Word. God will give you that measure of faith, but you have to want it. The Lord isn’t going to force anything of His on humanity; He offers it willingly, freely, without money and without price.

Faith for Salvation and Healing

You who are unsaved, why don’t you come to Jesus today? Don’t look at the dead faith of people around you who claim to have the Lord but have no works. In their dead faith you see no signs, no wonders, no miracles, no healings, no works of Jesus. Had Jesus come with dead faith, we never would have heard about Him. But Jesus brought live faith and the blind received their sight, the deaf heard, the crippled were made to walk; things happened—wonderful works!

Sinners: Let’s go to Calvary. Say this prayer with me: Oh, God, save my soul. Forgive me for all my sins. I’m sorry, Lord, that I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I’m going to serve you Lord the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!

If you meant that prayer, Jesus has come; He is yours. Start praying, reading your Bible and spending time in His presence. Some Bible fasting will help you. Go on and receive the baptism of the Spirit that we read about in the Acts of the Apostles. Jesus told the disciples about the Holy Spirit in a great way in the book of John, too, as well as other places. The Holy Ghost is real!

You who are sick and afflicted, you who need a miracle: Live faith will do it. It may be AIDS, it may be leprosy; the Lord is healing whole families of AIDS. It’s wonderful what the Lord is doing and the testimonies that are coming in here of His mighty deliverances! Grandparents are getting miracles for their grandchildren by using live faith in the Lord.

Are you ready? The Lord has endowed me with His gifts, and He confirms them over and over, again and again. Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you: Lay a healing hand on them. I curse their diseases: the AIDS, the leprosy, the heart trouble, the paralysis. I curse all the death diseases that are working in the people today. Heal! in the blood name of Jesus. Heal! with mighty miracle power through the blood, the divine blood of Jesus. Heal!

With the blood of Jesus we are healed: With his [blood] stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Decide you’re going to get well and when it’s verified that your disease is gone, write and tell me about it; share it with others. If you’re healed of AIDS, don’t be afraid to write your testimony, we will not use your name. Divine blood brings divine results. God bless you is my prayer. Off with dead faith that brings no results, and on with divine faith that gets results!
