Do You Fear Adversity?
by Ernest Angley
June 2017
Adversity rules many people’s lives today; and it robs them of so much joy, peace and happiness. Some people can’t even enjoy serving the Lord because they are secretly living in fear of the next trial, problem or hardship that may come their way. That is really a lack of faith, and it hinders the Lord in moving for them like He wants to because they doubt He will deliver them when the Bible clearly says He will: Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all (Psalm 34:19). You can’t let every little thing trouble you when the Lord promised to take care of everything.
If you fear adversity, then you are trying to handle it on your own rather than looking to the Lord to take care of it. Jesus said, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world (John 16:33). That verse promises you will have tribulation, but it turns into a good promise when you know that the Lord will stand by you day and night. That thought will bring the Lord in so close to you and help you to be happy no matter what you are facing.
All you have to do is call upon the Lord. I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place (Psalm 118:5). In that place is God’s large love, large faith, large peace and large supply. My God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
Jesus Faced Adversity
Everyone will face adversities and tribulations, so you have to know how to handle them. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that because you are a Christian you will never face adversity or that you will be able to avoid it. Jesus was the Son of God, and even He suffered adversity when He was here on Earth; but He won. That is why we must arm ourselves with the same mind that He had. Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind (I Peter 4:1). That mind is the greatest and most intelligent mind on Earth, so you must have it. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2:5).
For he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin (I Peter 4:1). Suffering can be a sign that you have stopped sinning because the devil tries to do everything he can against children of God, but God will stand between you and the devil if you will only believe that. Jesus came to make us sons and daughters of God who are equal with Him, and the Lord will do anything for one of His children. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons [or daughters] of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12).
You will never cherish adversity, but you cannot fear it either. When it comes, yield to the Holy Ghost and let Him shed abroad the love of God in your heart. The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5). That great, divine love will take care of all your adversities.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love (I John 4:18). Some of you will pray to get rid of fear instead of checking to see if you have perfect love that will cast it out. You have to live in perfect love, pray in perfect love and sleep in perfect love. Then the Holy Spirit can make you rejoice in the very things that the human mind makes you fear.
The devil knows when you have fear, and he will work with that fear; but the Bible says, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (I Peter 5:8). The devil seeks to steal from you, kill you and destroy you; but don’t allow him to. You must know your enemy and know how to resist him. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). You can resist the devil by trampling him underfoot with the divine blood. Jesus said, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19). Fear comes from not trusting and believing God, and God only works through faith.
God Is with Us
If you fear adversity, you must be careful not to waste precious time trying to find ways to avoid it rather than spending time with Jesus. He is the one who will deliver you out of your troubles or walk you through them for His purpose. The Lord has a purpose for everything if you are His child, and that is why He allowed that adversity to come your way; but it will be destroyed in time because God is greater than any adversity you will face. He said, When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee (Isaiah 43:2).
The Hebrew boys faced great adversity when they were thrown into the fiery furnace, but God delivered them. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire. And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them (Daniel 3:26,27).
Today, God is not just with us but in us. As God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people (II Corinthians 6:16). The great God of the universe walks in us, and His power is greater than any power of the world. Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (I John 4:4).
You Will Be Tried
When adversity strikes, remember that the trial of your faith is very precious. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ (I Peter 1:6,7).
The devil will send manifold temptations your way and try to make you think they are sin, but never listen to the devil because temptations are not sin. Neither give place to the devil (Ephesians 4:27). You shut out people you don’t want to hear, so why don’t you shut out the devil? Paul said, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it (I Corinthians 10:13). It is just a common thing for man to be tempted, but always remember that God is faithful to deliver you.
Have you ever told the Lord, “I just can’t take any more”? Sometimes, you are enduring so much that you wonder when it will ever end; but you must always go back to I Corinthians 10:13 and hear the Lord saying that He won’t suffer you to be tempted above what you are able to bear.
Faith that has never been tried by adversity is no faith at all. Adversity strengthens your faith; but if you faint, it is because you are using human faith instead of divine faith. If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small (Proverbs 24:10). You cannot faint when troubles come; you must turn them over to the Lord and go forth to win the lost, and adversity should make you more determined to do that.
Sometimes, adversity comes from people; but the Bible says, Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake (Matthew 5:11). People who say such things are lying, and they will go to hell for it; so just turn them over to God who said, Vegeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19). Then go on your way rejoicing. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you (Matthew 5:12).
Tribulation Makes You Strong
There is no need to be shocked at anything the devil brings against you. He will mock you when you are facing adversity, but don’t listen to him. He will say, “You are a Christian, so why do you have to suffer adversity?” The answer is because we need adversities to keep us strong.
If you are a true child of God who is going through great trials today, it is because you have so much from Heaven to use to stand against the powers of the devil. We must rejoice in suffering for Christ’s name’s sake. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience (Romans 5:3).
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). For this to be true, you have to love God, be called according to His purpose, obey the Lord and answer the high calling of God.
Persecutions and adversity just drive me deeper in the Lord. When the hammer of adversity comes down, I think of myself as a big nail being driven deeper into a slab of wood. The more adversity strikes, the deeper I go in the Lord; so let adversity drive your spiritual roots deeper in the Lord, too.
In nature, trees that have been subjected to many storms are much stronger than those that have not because storms cause trees to develop deep roots and strong trunks. Trees that are seldom exposed to harsh conditions become weak and eventually fall down. Storms prune the forest of weak trees, and adversity prunes the Kingdom of God of weak people. Jesus said, Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended (Matthew 13:21).
Why do you fear adversity when you have a mighty God with plenty of love and promises to see you through? Embrace God’s promises; stand up tall in the Lord and let your roots grow deep. The Lord can even make your body that holds your soul grow strong.
These [the saints of old] all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth (Hebrews 11:13). God’s promises are so strong that they sustained those Old Testament saints even though they saw them only from afar. They hugged the promises close knowing that this world was not their home, so nothing mattered except that they were going to Heaven one day to live forever.
Beauty for Ashes
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified (Isaiah 61:3). God wants to give you beauty for ashes. Before I was saved, I had only ashes. I thought I knew the beauty of the Lord because I saw it in my mother and dad and my two older sisters, but I didn’t have it for myself. I was raised in a good, godly home, but I didn’t have the beauty of the Lord until I accepted Jesus into my heart.
It doesn’t matter how you were raised; you can have beauty for ashes. Paul was raised a hypocrite, but he became the greatest apostle. You may think you never had a chance; but when you get saved, you have it all. Everything Jesus brought belongs to you, so move on with Him and never look back.
You will have sorrows in this life. Somebody you dearly love may die or fail you; but if you have the oil of the Holy Ghost inside, it will bring you out of mourning and give you the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. The Bible says, He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Psalm 1:3).
The fear of adversity will disappear when you stop looking at tomorrow through the eyes of self because Satan can use the flesh. That is why Paul said, I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway (I Corinthians 9:27). Jesus said, Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak (Matthew 26:41).
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith (II Corinthians 13:5). You must examine yourself with the Holy Scriptures. At the beginning of each day, ask God to help you do and say everything He wills for you that day. Then pray at the end of the day and allow the Holy Ghost to let you know if you yielded and took time to do all that God wanted of you.
Look at tomorrow through the promises of God; and your future will be bright, not fearful. Your future is as bright as the promises of God; and through Him, you are more than a conqueror. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us (Romans 8:37). That means you have conquered all the devils that have come to fight with you, and you still have more power left over.
God Will Keep You
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27). Jesus did not bring the world’s peace but Heaven’s peace, and He gives it to you for free. The world will try to sell peace to you in many forms, but it will not satisfy for any length of time.
When you commit the keeping of your soul to the Lord, you won’t fear adversity. You will be able to say as Paul did, For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day (II Timothy 1:12). Peter said, Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator (I Peter 4:19).
The Lord needs you to be a living, consecrated, dedicated epistle for Him because the only Bible some people will ever “read” is you and I. Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart (II Corinthians 3:2,3).
Whatever is in you comes out in your voice; and through the Spirit of God, He lets me know what is in people. But some don’t want the truth. And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32).
The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth, and you must have Him to make the Rapture. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality (I Corinthians 15:51-53). That change can only take place through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Rely on the Holy Spirit
Why fear adversity when you have the Holy Spirit to make intercession for you? Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities [troubles and trials]: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit [the Holy Ghost] itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26). If you are Spirit-filled, there will be times when you just groan; and that is the Spirit groaning within and making intercession for you. You are not alone; He is right there helping you. The Holy Spirit comes to set up His abode in those who receive His baptism for a purpose, so let Him work.
And he [God] that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:27). The Holy Ghost knows what the will of God is for you. Many times, you may not know the will of God for your situation before you pray, but wait upon the Lord until you do know.
The Prophet Isaiah wrote, Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness (Isaiah 41:10). All the powers of Heaven are available to you and me in God’s right hand.
Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me (Isaiah 49:15,16). A mother may forget her child, but God will never forget us. The Lord has graven our names on the palms of His hands, and His hands are ever before Him.
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine (Isaiah 43:1). The Lord who created us calls all of His children by name just as a mother and father call their children by name, and that is so personal.
Divine Comfort
The Lord will give you all the help, strength and power you need to overcome the devil in any form. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me (Hebrews 13:6). If your companion is full of the devil and won’t go to church or live for God, you don’t have to be afraid because the Lord is your helper.
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort (II Corinthians 1:3). We will always have plenty of mercy and comfort from our Father, and then we must serve that comfort to others. Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God (II Corinthians 1:4). The Bible says to pray one for another (James 5:16).
Don’t fall down into the pits of despair when adversity strikes; turn your eyes upon Jesus in faith and let His courage, His strength and His comfort be yours. He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).
Through faith, you must believe that God is the Almighty and that He is able to take care of you. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him (Hebrews 11:6). They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion [in Glory], which cannot be removed, but abideth forever (Psalm 125:1). You have to decide that God is with you and get rid of all fear.
Trust in the Lord
Job knew how to deal with adversity God’s way, but his wife did not. When everything he had was gone and he was covered with boils, his wife said, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die (Job 2:9). I never would have wanted a wife like her.
Job never gave up on God; and when the Lord finally rose up for Job, He gave him more than he had ever had before. Jesus said that could happen to anyone. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life (Mark 10:29,30).
Don’t be anxious or troubled about tomorrow; just talk to God with a thankful heart knowing that He will take care of you. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). Never beg God for anything. Jesus said, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Matthew 7:7). Then you have to trust God. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5,6).
You must trust the Lord and never give up. And he [Jesus] spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint (Luke 18:1). If fear and adversity are causing you to faint or draw back, remember, He [God] giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength (Isaiah 40:29).
God will give you all you need for soul, mind and body. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:30,31).
Adversity will not last forever. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning (Psalm 30:5). And that divine joy is your strength. For the joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).
Trouble will come, but victory awaits. However, some of you may not even see what God is doing because you are not prayed up. Thus saith the Lord, if you don’t stay prayed up, you will see what the devil is doing.
Paul said our afflictions are light compared to hell and to what is going to happen to those who are not serving God. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [Everybody can see those things.] are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal (II Corinthians 4:17,18). You must have divine faith to enjoy those eternal things.
Use God’s Thoughts
There is no virtue or praise when you allow every thought of adversity to bring you fear. You must replace fearful thoughts with good thoughts like those listed in Philippians 4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. You must learn those things, and then check your thoughts to see if you are thinking on them. Your soul, your mind and your entire self must be fenced in with those six glorious thoughts.
Never dwell on thoughts the devil brings to you because they are just idle talk. Think on the truth in the Word; and then when the devil tries to worry you, you can take God’s thoughts of truth and let them turn over and over in your mind until they get rid of all the bad thoughts.
If you are having bad dreams, think on the truth about the blood and what it will do before you go to sleep; and you won’t have those nightmares. That is just the devil tormenting you, and you are allowing him to do it. Spray him with the divine blood just as you would spray insects with bug spray. Then the devil and his demons will run.
Don’t think about or associate with the wrong kinds of people either. The Pharisees were hypocrites; and Jesus said to them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God (Luke 16:15).
The Bible says, Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (II Corinthians 6:17). You are the one who has to do the coming out; no one can do it for you. The Bible says we are to mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace (Psalm 37:37).
Fear God
You are not to fear adversity, but you must fear God because that gives Him freedom to work. There is no limit to what God can do for you unless you tie His hands; and the fear of adversity ties God’s hands—it prevents Him from working for you like He wants to.
Many people do not understand what it means to have the fear of God. They think it is dreadful, tormenting fear, but that is not true at all. Godly fear is recognizing God to be the most high God and then standing with reverence in holy awe of His glory, His power and His deity. You must honor and glorify Him with your whole being and want only what He wants. You can have no grains of sand between you and your God.
Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him (Psalm 33:8). The Bible speaks much about fearing the Lord; and when we fear Him the right way, we will be free of the fear of man and the fear of the devil as well as the kind of fear of God that brings torment.
To fear God the right way brings no torment at all. Tormenting fear comes from the devil; and you need to get rid of all of it because there are no blessings in it, only hurt. God said, Come now, and let us reason together (Isaiah 1:18). That shows great love.
Godly fear is a yielding and obedient respect for God that acknowledges His power and glory and despises the thought of displeasing such a righteous, holy God. In fact, we are to be as holy as He is. Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:16). That holiness only comes through the blood of Jesus; and without that holiness, no one will see the face of God. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
Led by the Spirit
Godly fear hates sin. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men [and women] depart from evil (Proverbs 16:6). When we are saved, iniquity is taken out of us so that we are not like the first Adam and Eve but like the Second Adam, Jesus; and that comes about through mercy and truth. The Lord makes things so simple; the complications arise among humans here on Earth.
To fear God like you should is to love Him and have faith in Him, to use all that Jesus brought to Earth for you and me and to recognize that you are a son or daughter of God. The Bible says, [God] will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty (II Corinthians 6:18). It also says, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons [or daughters] of God (Romans 8:14).
You must be led by the Spirit of God, but many churches today do not allow the real Holy Spirit to manifest Himself. People speak in tongues at will, and that is not the real Holy Ghost. The Bible says that on the Day of Pentecost they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4).
The Holy Spirit enables you to stand in awe of God, the creator and righteous judge of all things; and if you will turn every adversity and enemy over to His grace, He will look out for you. Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). When your nerves are bad, it’s because you don’t turn everything over to God.
People are amazed at how much I can take, but I turn everything over to the Lord; and He takes care of my adversities and my enemies. We can’t take time to fight with our enemies. They have an argument, but we have an experience; and that is all that matters.
Let God Lead
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). The Lord blesses those who walk close to Him with His great wisdom. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him (James 1:5). God won’t rebuke you when you ask for His wisdom; He will serve you.
God has plenty of wisdom to give, but some of you don’t wait upon the Lord to find out what He wants you to do. You do what you want to do; but then when you get into trouble, fear takes you over. Perhaps you bought something God didn’t want you to buy. You didn’t backslide by doing that; but because you didn’t wait to get God’s wisdom on the matter, you may end up losing it.
Don’t reject God and His Spirit when you need an answer from Heaven. That quickening power will quicken your body just as it does mine, and you will be connected with Heaven. You don’t have to struggle and fight for it; the Holy Ghost will connect you.
God can really use those who fear Him His way because they are seeking His holy guidance and direction and not their own. God is ready and willing to show you the way if you will go His way, and then He will help you. That is how I built this great ministry of God. I let the Lord help all the way, and I took it step by step. There was no need to worry about tomorrow because I trusted God. James said, Ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away (James 4:14).
Life on Earth as we know it will soon be gone, and that is why Jesus brought us a new life. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh (Hebrews 10:19,20).
We can live the life of Heaven now; we just need to use that extra strength from On High to fight the devil, and Jesus showed us how to do that. The Lord even sends angels to help us in our fights because He knows there are times when we need them. Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14)? I have needed angel help many times; and I trust God and His angel help first, not way down the line. Who do you trust?
Live Pure and Holy
When you fear God the right way, it has a cleansing, sanctifying, humbling effect. It moves you to hate evil and love righteousness. All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits (Proverbs 16:2). The Lord knows every spirit that is in a person, good or bad.
Self-justification must not be found in a heart that fears God the right way. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: [false] pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate (Proverbs 8:13). For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter (II Corinthians 7:11).
With the right kind of fear, you can be perfect in holiness just as the angels are. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (II Corinthians 7:1). God will find nothing unpleasant in you; so He will love the whole you—soul, mind and body.
It is so simple to serve God; and when you do, you will have wonderful peace. You will not need to run here and there seeking peace because you will have found it in the Lord. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). You need that divine peace for yourself before you can help take this message of peace to the whole world.
Serve from the Heart
Fearing God takes you beyond just saying you serve God and causes you to obey Him from the heart. Paul said, But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you (Romans 6:17).
God wants you to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Jesus said, But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23,24). The Bible never said to love the Lord with good works and fair speeches but to love Him in truth. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth (I John 3:18).
Jesus said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself (Luke 10:27). Notice that the heart comes first; salvation has to be of the heart. The soul is man’s spirit, and the heart and soul are different.
“Thy neighbor” can be a person next door, across town or even in another nation. You must love all people and want to help them. You must inspire them and pray for them because all God’s children are members of his [Christ’s] body, of his flesh, and of his bones (Ephesians 5:30).
It is easy to love others who have the same spirit you have and who believe the same truths you believe. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God (Ephesians 5:21). When you all have the same Holy Ghost to lead you, guide you and direct you, you have nothing to fear or worry about. That means you should be happy all the time, and the Bride of Christ will be happy.
Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved (Song of Solomon 8:5)? There is no separation between Christ and His Bride. She is shining with His light and love and walking with grace steps—every step is a divine, blood step. The devil and the world are against her, but all Heaven is for her; and she will do the will of God.
God wants to use the Bride of Christ like He has never used anyone before, and He will use her as long as she fears Him the right way and acknowledges Him in all things. She must seek His holy guidance and direction, not her own.
Give All to God
Moses feared God, and he especially feared Him on behalf of the Israelites. Moses knew God’s anger toward and hatred of sin, and he knew all about the Israelites’ disobedience; so he tells of fasting before God on their behalf. And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you (Deuteronomy 9:18,19). Moses had a lot of love for those disobedient people.
When Moses needed men to help him judge the people and keep them walking within the statutes of the Law, he looked for those who feared God. Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens (Exodus 18:21).
When the Lord was guiding me to build a work for Him, He told me that He can get only a certain amount out of people and that is it. Some will give thirty percent, some forty percent, some fifty, some sixty and some more. God is generous, thoughtful, loving and kind; and we can always depend on Him, so we should want to please Him and give Him 100 percent.
I try to do everything God calls on me to do; and if there is even a tiny thing I am leaving undone, I want Him to let me know. I have told God many times that if people won’t use the talents He has given to them to serve Him, He can give them to me and then give me the strength to use them.
You cannot force people to do things; they must work out their own salvation. Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12). You must do only what your holy God wants and never let self take over; but without Godly fear, you will not feel the need of doing His divine will or of being led by His Spirit at all times. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). God works in us through the power of the Holy Ghost.
You must not displease the Lord or fail Him in any way. God told me that man was His greatest disappointment, but I don’t want to disappoint Him in even a little thing; and you must have the same spirit. Our hands must be His so He can use them completely. Our eyes must be His so He can show us things we must back away from. He will also show us things we need and can have more of, and we must feel the need of those things.
God will show us that we can have miracles in abundance through His Word. He said, For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass (Ezekiel 12:25). That is a great promise; and when you look at the promises of God, they will help you to have the right kind of fear that is not mixed with any other kind of fear.
Give God the Glory
Job feared God and trembled at the thought of honoring himself. He said, If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence; If I rejoiced because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much; If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness; And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above (Job 31:24-28).
Job wanted to know if he had ever given himself credit rather than God, but some people are always bragging about one thing or another; and this is not a time to do that. You rob God when you let self get in the way.
I am so careful never to take any of God’s honor and glory. I keep people praising God for the miracles they see wherever I go. I let them know that I have no secret powers of my own; all the miracles come through the power of God that works through me.
People who have godly fear are not quick to give their own opinions and advice because they do not trust in themselves; they trust God. You must wait upon the Lord; and the more you do that, the easier it will be. When people ask me questions, God takes over my mind; and many times, I have the answer from Him before they even finish talking.
You must stay connected with God so you can help and bless others. You should not have to beg God to do things; you must be able to reach out and take the truth and serve it, but you have to want God’s help.
And he [Jesus] spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for everyone that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted (Luke 18:9-14).
Depend on God’s Revelations
God can reveal deep things to those who fear Him, but He will not expose sacred things to hearts that do not appreciate them. The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant (Psalm 25:14).
A secret is something kept hidden from others or known only to a select few, and the Lord will tell His children things that He doesn’t tell others in the world. The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law [the love law of the Gospel of Christ] (Deuteronomy 29:29).
God will reveal things to the Bride of Christ that He keeps hidden from others because He knows she will treasure them and use them for His purpose. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil (Ecclesiastes 12:13,14). God knows all about every one of us.
God is a wise God, and He will not give valuable things to those who do not recognize them. Jesus said, Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you (Matthew 7:6). An animal does not understand the worth of something that is valuable and does not know how to treat it, and it is the same with a person who has no fear of God—they don’t recognize the worth of God or appreciate the things of God.
Don’t force God on people who don’t want Him because that does more damage than good and may cause them to reject Him forever. You must let God help you and direct you to the right people, and then you have to be very careful with them just as God is and use His divine love to work with them.
When Jesus was dying on the Cross, God used all His love to keep from coming down to save Him. He had to turn His back on His only Son because He could not bear the sight or the way people were treating Him. God had never been through anything like that, and He had to turn His back and shut out the scene as Jesus cried, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me (Matthew 27:46)? That call pierced through God’s heart, and He had to shut it out or He would have come down.
End Times Are Here
This great teaching should change your life. Thus saith the Lord, this is going to open up the Scriptures to you more than ever before. Study all of the scriptures in this message. Eat the Word and be healthy in the Lord. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).
When you were a babe in Christ, you received the milk of the Word to start you on your way. For everyone that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil (Hebrews 5:13,14). Now, you need the meat of the Word, or you won’t have the strength you need to do all that God needs you to do.
You should memorize verses from the Bible, and they will help you to overcome anything the devil throws at you. Talk to yourself through the scriptures in the Word, and they will become a part of you. The devil will never be able to separate you from the truths of God.
Through the Word, you will know that we are the Rapture generation. We are living on borrowed time—time the Lord has given us to get the harvest of lost souls in—but if you are not living for God, you will not recognize this borrowed time or make the most of it. You must show the Lord that you are thankful for every minute of it.
The LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth (Genesis 7:1,4). We are again living in those seven days of grace, and the door to the Kingdom is still open. Jesus is almost ready to take the Bride to Heaven; we just have to finish bringing in the harvest.
Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Genesis 6:8), and so must we. Noah feared God, and he listened to every tiny instruction the Lord gave him while he was building the ark. Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he (Genesis 6:22). We all must want God to say that we did everything He wanted us to do in this last hour.
After the ark had been built and loaded, Noah waited for God to close the door—they knew God had to be the one to close it. And they [Noah’s family and two of every animal] that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in (Genesis 7:16). Then God sealed that door with divine blood.
The Bride is about to be shut away with the Lord. The end-time signs are all around, and we must recognize them. We must know without a doubt that we are now in the final sweep of the world and doing all we can to fulfill God’s promise that says everybody will have a chance to hear the truth. Through modern technology, they will be given that chance; and it won’t take long.
You must stay in the scriptures, so you can be a great hand that God can use in His work. The secret to your success will be in not fearing adversity and fearing God His way.
Salvation Can Be Yours
Jesus said that great adversities of all kinds would come upon the Earth in the last hour. Great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven (Luke 21:11). Jesus also said that when we see all of these things coming to pass, He will be at the door. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near: So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it [my coming] is nigh, even at the doors (Mark 13:28,29).
If someone is at your door, it takes only a second for them to step over the threshold when you open the door and invite them in. Jesus is at the door of every heart today; and we all must be ready in spirit when the door flies open to say, “Come on in. I am ready to go, dear Jesus!”
Jesus is the only door to eternal life. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture (John 10:9). When that door is closed, it will be woe, woe to the inhabitants of the Earth.
If you are not ready to meet Jesus in the air, then you must get ready now. Give your troubles and adversities to Jesus and come to Him. Some of you have almost destroyed your lives through fear and adversity, but you can be set free now. Sin has robbed you of so much, but don’t let it do that anymore. The Bible says, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36).
Sinner, pray this prayer: Oh, God, save my soul. I’m so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I unload all of my burdens. I give my burden of sin to you. I believe you will destroy this burden of sin through the divine blood that was shed for me on Calvary. I believe the power in the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, you now can say, Hallelujah! He has come. Hallelujah! Jesus is mine. Now, fear God the right way and serve Him. Start reading your Bible, and Bible fasting will help you along the way. Always pray knowing that the Lord is listening, and you will be ready to meet all adversity the devil brings against you. Troubles will come; but now, you have the best friend you could ever have to help you—Jesus. Fear God and take your troubles to the Lord the rest of the journey. You will find Him in every valley as you serve Him with your whole heart.
Receive Healing
If you are sick and afflicted, get ready for your miracle. You may have AIDS, leprosy, heart trouble, lung disease, cancer, diabetes or some other deadly disease; but it doesn’t matter. The Bible says, With his [Jesus’] stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). The blood stripes of Jesus give life and destroy all sin, sickness and disease.
Are you ready to receive? Thousands have been healed of AIDS, cancer and other deadly diseases; and many lepers have been cleansed by the divine blood through this Jesus ministry. It is God’s power, and His supernatural gifts of the Spirit work in my life. The Lord confirms what I preach through signs and wonders.
Lord, I bring the sick and afflicted to you today. Lay a healing hand on the little, dying children. You have healed many of them, so make them well for thy honor and glory. God, deliver mothers and daddies from any deadly diseases and give them life. In the name of Jesus, heal! In the all-powerful name of Jesus, heal! Be thou made well in the holy name of the Lord.
Feeling God’s presence is your sign that God is moving for you. Watch yourself or your child get well and then write or email me and tell me about it. May God’s blessings rest upon you.
