Divine Love Will See You Through

How much do you know about Christ’s love? I have studied His love through the Holy Spirit and found that you can never reach the top of it, the width of it or the bottom of it. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height (Ephesians 3:17,18).
Divine love could fill all the oceans on Earth, and there still would be love left over; it is just that mighty and wonderful. When you are rooted and grounded in that love, there will be no way of turning you away from Heaven. And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge [all understanding], that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God (Ephesians 3:19). When you are full of God, you will have all the love you need to help every sinner you can get to; and the more you use that love, the more it increases.
Divine Love Is Greater
There is nothing in the world greater than the love of God. It will keep you going when nobody or nothing else will. I was raised in a home filled with both human love and divine love; so before I was saved, I thought I understood all about divine love, but I didn’t because I did not have divine love in my heart. People can never know Christ’s love until they come into it, and it fills their heart. Then that love will cleanse the person’s soul.
Divine love is a gift that is greater than all other gifts, and human knowledge cannot understand it. God demonstrated that love to us when He gave all He had to rescue sinful man. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
People who cause trouble don’t have the love of God because His love makes people wonderful. The Psalmist said, I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). When you are wonderfully made, you will quit your fretting and boldly say as Paul did, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me (Galatians 2:20).
Paul never could have said that unless he had closed all the doors on his past. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13,14). When you let divine love into your heart, it will close all the doors to your past. Everything is ahead of you, so you must leave all else behind.
Some people talk about the love of God and say it is great and wonderful, but they don’t use it; and they are always causing trouble wherever they go. They have empty hearts, but they don’t know it; and that is dangerous. Your heart will be filled with something; and if it is not the love of God, it will be filled with self and the devil. Demons are always eager to move into an empty heart. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour (I Peter 5:8).
Divine love is your protection, so you must stay full of that love all the time because the devil can’t take over a heart that is full of God’s love. The devil has no love, only hate. He even hates those in his own kingdom, and he punishes them no matter what they do because he is so cruel.
Everyone Needs Divine Love
Divine love brought us divine grace, and that is the whole favor of God. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ (Ephesians 4:7). And of his [Christ’s] fulness have all we received, and grace for grace (John 1:16). That means we go from God’s favor to God’s favor, from grace love to grace love, and from grace faith to grace faith. You must never leave the realm of grace or you will be in trouble; but many people go from grace to doubt, grace to fear or grace to uncertainty, wondering if God really loves them.
Love will also help you to live by faith. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). You can’t go from faith to doubt and wonder whether or not God will perform a miracle for you. God keeps His promises, and there is nothing in this world like the promises of God.
We need all the love we can get in this last hour, and God is offering it to us. He is enlarging our hearts so we can hold more of His love and then use that love to serve others and bring them into the Kingdom by the multitudes. Divine love can reach all over the world.
God’s road is a road of love, and there are no detours on it; so there is no danger of getting lost when you follow it. The devil will try to get you to take a crossroad, but you must stay on the straight road. Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it (Matthew 7:14). That strait gate is on this side of the narrow road, and you go through that gate when you are saved. Then you will be on the straight, narrow road, and even a child can follow that road.
Unfortunately, most people don’t want to walk that road, and they try to satisfy themselves in all kinds of ways; but it never works. Love will cause you to do right and to treat people right. Love will cause you to treat God as the Almighty God He is and to treat Christ as the Savior He is. It will cause you to treat the Holy Ghost as the teacher, comforter and guide He is. You have to let divinity teach you love as you stay in the Lord’s presence.
Divine Love Protects
Love will show you how to put on the whole armor of God. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17). Love made it possible for you to have all of God’s armor, but you can’t have even one piece of it without having divine love.
The helmet of salvation protects your mind, and singing spiritual songs that please the Lord will keep it clear. Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19). Songs that God will listen to with you will have in them divine love for Heaven, for divinity and for the blood.
The soul came from God, so it has to be fed and kept alive with things that come from and please God. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7).
Isaiah the prophet wrote, Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread [for your soul]? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the abundance of divinity and grace] (Isaiah 55:2). God wants us to seek His face to get His love and divinity.
God Cares for His Children
God has a big, love handkerchief; and one day, He will use it on you and me for the last time. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away (Revelation 21:4). Can’t you just hear the Lord saying, “Honey, you will never shed another tear; love is wiping them all away.”
Our new bodies will not have any tear ducts, and that is the way God had originally created them in Eden. He never intended for man and woman to cry; but man failed, and their bodies were cursed. How many nights of crying and weeping before the Lord have you had?
God will wipe away your tears while you are still on this Earth through the Comforter, the Holy Ghost. When you are burdened down and oppressed, steal away with the Lord and yield to the Holy Ghost. He will take over and comfort your heart. The Lord doesn’t want His children to be sad and down and out. Even in times of sorrow, you can still have a smile through divine love and the power of the Holy Ghost.
There is nothing like the love hand of God that comes through Christ and the Holy Ghost. They make intercession to Almighty God for you. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26). It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us (Romans 8:34).
God Wants to Be Your Father
Jesus taught us to pray, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name (Matthew 6:9). He was saying that His Father is also our Father. Through Christ’s divine blood, we are sons and daughters of God; and He loves us just like He loves His Son. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons [or daughters] of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God (John 1:12,13).
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:16,17). As long as you remain a true child of God, you will never lack for love; and divine love satisfies. For he [God] satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness (Psalm 107:9).
As our loving Father, God gives us good and perfect gifts from above. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17). Never look at the wrong things to cheer you up and make you happy because it will never work.
Nobody has ever loved you like the Lord loves you, so you must always seek for more of Him. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6). Divine love gives you an appetite for the things of God, and you must desire Him just as the Psalmist did. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever (Psalm 73:25,26).
Stay Connected to Heaven
When you are full of divine love, you will pray knowing that the Father always hears you. That is the way Jesus talked to His Father, and He is our example. Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always (John 11:41,42). Stop praying worthless prayers because that is why you don’t get prayers answered. You must be plugged into Heaven with love, and then you won’t have to battle in prayer. The devil can’t tear down a blood line of love to Heaven, and he can’t prevent your prayers from going through.
Divine love is the answer for every situation you face and for everything you need, and it is what you must take to others if you are going to draw them from the powers of the devil into the love of God. You can’t draw them with love that may be around you; that love has to be within you. Through love, your voice will penetrate into the darkness of their soul; and the devils will flee. Then their soul will fill up with the love of God.
The Psalmist said, Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over [with love] (Psalm 23:5). When your cup runs over with love, the people around you will be blessed.
Divine love comes through the Word. You can’t have anything from God unless you know what is available, and you will find everything in the Word. Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts (Jeremiah 15:16). You must dine on the Word because it contains the words of life. The Lord told me that every word He has spoken has all the powers of Heaven in it, so ponder each word written in the Bible.
When Jesus came to Earth, He was the Word made flesh. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14). You must study the Word and let it give you the deep thoughts of God. The Bible says, O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep (Psalm 92:5).
Believe to See
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13). But so many people have to see to believe just like doubting Thomas did. Thomas was not with the other disciples when Jesus first appeared to them after His Resurrection. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe (John 20:25).
Later, Thomas did see Jesus, and he did believe; but Jesus told him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed (John 20:29).
Mary Magdalene was filled with divine love, and she believed to see. Jesus cast seven devils out of her, and she continued to follow Him with all of her heart. She was the first one to see Jesus after His Resurrection, and she spread the good news. Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not (Mark 16:9-11).
Mary was a great witness, and she preached what she had seen. In this last hour, the Lord wants us all to be witnesses for Him and spread the word of His truth. And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [preach], your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions (Joel 2:28).
How do you become a great witness?—by letting the Holy Ghost shed abroad the love of God in your heart so it can work for you and draw others. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us (Romans 5:5).
Without the Holy Ghost shedding abroad the love of God in your heart, you will not reach beyond your own loved ones, your own desires and your own preferences. Human love won’t do those things, and that is why you must use divine love every chance you get; and the more you use it, the more you will have. You will never run out of love because God will always give you more.
Divine Love Suffers Long
Today, God wants you to check your love to see if you are trying to make it through this life with human love or divine love. Only divine love will see you through. The attributes of divine love are powerful when they work in you, and they identify you as a true disciple of Christ. Jesus said, By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:35).
The Bible tells us that we are nothing without divine love. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity [love], I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing (I Corinthians 13:1-3). You will never find the true definition of love from the dictionary; you will only find it in I Corinthians 13. There God tells you what true love is.
Let’s take a closer look at God’s love. Charity [love] suffereth long (I Corinthians 13:4). Human love does not suffer long because it is partial and weak. Human love may suffer for those they love or to get something in return, but it suffers very little for any other reason. Jesus said, If ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil (Luke 6:32-35).
Jesus willingly came to Earth and died without knowing whether or not people would love Him back, and the majority did not; and they still don’t love Him today. Human love can never love or suffer like Jesus did, but divine love can love and trust God for anything. You must have that kind of love and trust if you want to make it to Rapture ground.
Paul Suffered Long
Divine love will suffer longer than human love ever will. If human love was all Paul had, he would have dropped out of the spiritual race long before he wrote, But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned (II Corinthians 6:4-6).
Paul had true, divine love that suffered long. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one (II Corinthians 11:24). Think about somebody experienced in using a whip giving you thirty-nine stripes on your naked back. I’m sure that left people in an awful condition for years, and many Christians at that time were tortured like that.
Paul went on to say, Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned [and left for dead] (II Corinthians 11:25). Those who stoned Paul thought he was dead; but when the disciples got to him, he raised up as if nothing had ever been wrong with him. And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead. Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe (Acts 14:19,20). God had protected Paul, and he went on to do the will of the Lord.
Paul suffered much. Thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness [not enough clothes to keep him warm]. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches (II Corinthians 11:25-28).
Human love never could have seen Paul through, but divine love did; and he always walked worthy of his calling. I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love (Ephesians 4:1,2). We are all called to get this Gospel to the world, and we must love one another with God’s love as we go forth to do His work.
Peter Needed More Love
Peter thought he had love that would suffer long when he told Jesus that he would not forsake Him. And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death (Luke 22:31-33).
But Jesus knew Peter only had human love, and He warned him, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me (Luke 22:34). When hard times came, Peter’s human love failed him. He was deceived about himself, and he actually denied Jesus and backslid.
Thankfully, Peter repented and got back to the Lord; and on the Day of Pentecost, he received the Holy Ghost. Then he had divine love that suffered long, and he followed the calling of the Lord and preached the Gospel with no compromise for the rest of his life. Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe (Acts 15:7).
Peter told the people that they would have to suffer for Christ’s sake. But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well-doing, than for evil-doing. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit (I Peter 3:14,17,18).
After Pentecost, Peter truly gave all. Later, he was crucified on a cross, but he asked to be crucified upside down because he didn’t feel worthy to be killed like Christ was.
Love Is Kind
Charity [love]...is kind (I Corinthians 13:4). Divine love is kind, considerate and compas-sionate. It is willing to do good and make others happy, and it is glorious in the good times as well as the bad times.
The Bible says, Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:32). Yes, the Lord forgives us of what we have done to Him, so we must forgive others of what they have done to us. We can hold no grudges. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity [love], which is the bond of perfectness (Colossians 3:12-14).
Peter wrote, Be ye all of one mind [the mind of Christ], having compassion one of another, love as brethren [as family], be pitiful, be courteous (I Peter 3:8). With divine love, you must take on the mind of Christ; and then you must yield to the Holy Ghost and let Him help you keep it.
Love Never Envies
Charity envieth not (I Corinthians 13:4). Divine love does not envy or feel resentment toward others because of their possessions or position. We are not to be jealous of those who succeed; we should be happy for them. Paul scolded the Corinthians for having envy among them. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men (I Corinthians 3:3)?
Peter said, Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing (I Peter 3:9). God blesses us so we can bless others. If you are envious of anyone, you don’t have the love of God. The Bible says, Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying (Romans 13:13).
Envy is destructive, and it is what caused Cain to kill Abel. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him (Genesis 4:4,5,8). That was the first murder to take place in the human race.
Envy is what caused Joseph’s brothers to sell him into slavery. And the patriarchs [Joseph’s brothers], moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him (Acts 7:9). Joseph’s brothers turned against him because their father showed him more favor than he did them.
The Jews envied Paul because he was drawing so many people to the truth. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming (Acts 13:45). If you have ever tried to ruin the influence of good people or sold out their good name because you envied them, you need to check yourself because you don’t have divine love.
Divine Love Is Not Full of Self
Charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up (I Corinthians 13:4). Divine love does not make a vain display of one’s own worth or attainments, but many people and even preachers do that. True, divine love is humble. It leans and depends on the Holy Ghost and makes its boast of God, the One who is more than able. In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name forever. Selah (Psalm 44:8). My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad (Psalm 34:2). God’s children must boast only in the Lord and not in themselves.
Paul said, That no flesh should glory [vaunt itself or boast] in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption (I Corinthians 1:29,30). You should never boast within yourself.
Divine love does not puff up with ego. It does not feel self-important, arrogant or pompous; but today, people are becoming so egotistical over every little thing. Self is so important to them, and they are full of arrogance; but the Bible says we are not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it (I Corinthians 4:6,7)?
Paul sent Timothy, a very faithful servant in the Lord, to the Corinthians; but some of them felt so important that they became offended because Paul had not come himself. However, Paul knew all about it, and he wrote, Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power (I Corinthians 4:18,19). Paul was letting those who were full of ego know that they were out of order.
You Must Bury Self
Today, many people are full of arrogance, and they think they can live however they want to—in adultery, fornication, homosexuality, and the list goes on. You can be friendly, keep God’s love in your heart toward them and pray for them; but you can’t hang out with them. The Bible plainly says, Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you (II Corinthians 6:17).
People were full of ego and committing those same sins in Paul’s day, and he told them all about it. It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you (I Corinthians 5:2).
There is no spiritual profit in being full of ego and thinking too highly of yourself, and divine love doesn’t do that. The Bible says, For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3).
Those who are like Jesus will live holy and deny self, and they will have perfect, divine love. That kind of love takes you beyond your own wishes and wants to edify and help souls. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity [love] among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins (I Peter 4:7,8).
Divine Love Acts like Jesus
[Love] doth not behave itself unseemly (I Corinthians 13:5). Divine love doesn’t act indecent or immoral in any way. It doesn’t act disorderly in front of others but instead sets an example of orderly conduct. Paul said, Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you (II Thessalonians 3:6,7).
Gossiping is definitely disorderly conduct. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies [gossips] (II Thessalonians 3:11). You won’t get to Heaven if you gossip. We are supposed to speak God’s language of love. For our conversation is [the same as] in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20).
You must walk honorably and honestly before God at all times. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may havelack of nothing (I Thessalonians 4:1,4,12).
The Lord gives us everything we need to walk like Jesus. He spreads a table before us and loads it down daily. The Psalmist said, Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits (Psalm 68:19). He watches out for His children.
The world’s definition of love is so opposite of God’s love; and it makes allowance for all kinds of unseemly behavior, even behavior that is against nature. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet (Romans 1:26,27).
That verse refers to practicing homosexuality and lesbianism. Some people are born with an attraction for the same sex; but as long as they don’t put it into practice, they will be all right. Also, God can and will deliver them, and we have seen that happen many times through this Jesus ministry.
Divine Love Is Not Selfish
[Love] seeketh not her own (I Corinthians 13:5). Divine love is not continually thinking only of itself; it thinks of the well-being, burdens and souls of others. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others (Philippians 2:3,4).
Unfortunately, most people don’t do that. Paul said, For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s (Philippians 2:21). If you do that, you are failing God; and that is why the Bible says, Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth [well-being]. Even as I [Paul] please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved (I Corinthians 10:24,33). For though I [Paul] be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more (I Corinthians 9:19).
Human love is only concerned about itself, and that is why so many marriages are failing today. People don’t wait for God to give them the right mate, and their marriages are built only on human love; and it is not sufficient.
Divine love made a Calvary and that kind of love loves not only its own but also its enemies. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he [Jesus] laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth (I John 3:16,18).
Divine love wants to win every soul it can. Some people just want to get their own family members and friends saved, but that is not right. You have to put your own under the blood and thank the Lord for doing all He can to save them. Then you move on to give other people a chance to receive Christ. This world is full of lost souls who need your help.
Divine Love Has Self-Control
[Love] is not easily provoked (I Corinthians 13:5). Divine love does not get angry quickly, and it does not easily get out of sorts when faced with trying or unexpected situations. Divine love is not ready to spout off or complain at the onset of adversity or persecution, and it does not easily fly off the handle when others deliberately try to incite anger. The Bible says, Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath (Ephesians 4:26).
God’s love was not easily provoked with the Israelite people when they complained and disobeyed Him again and again. Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years (Hebrews 3:8,9). They treated God terribly; but no matter what He did for them or to punish them, it didn’t change them. They continued to serve other gods, walk after their own vanities, act on their own thoughts, do their own works and constantly murmur and grumble.
God’s love suffered long with the Israelites, and it is suffering long with mankind today. People all over the world are provoking God in every way possible, yet He is giving them every chance to be saved. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (II Peter 3:9).
One day, God’s longsuffering will come to an end; and His many years of being provoked will eventually give rise to all-out judgment. Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19). God promised to repay His enemies and yours, so turn your enemies over to Him and stop thinking or worrying about them. The Lord will take care of them, and He will repay them in full.
Don’t Dwell on Evil Thoughts
[Love] thinketh no evil (I Corinthians 13:5). Evil thoughts cause people to be partial or prejudiced, and so many are like that today. Divine love does not prejudge people because of color, clothing or riches; divine love cares for all people. My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial [prejudiced] in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts (James 2:1-4)?
We are supposed to have the good thoughts of God. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8). What kind of thought life do you have?
[Love] Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth (I Corinthians 13:6). Divine love takes no pleasure in any kind of injustice, immoral acts or unfair behavior. It gets no joy from acts of sin and wrongdoing.
Divine love doesn’t rejoice in souls being lost but in those that are found. Jesus said, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance (Luke 15:4-7).
Heaven rejoices with every soul we bring in. God does not want souls to be lost. As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die [and go to hell], O house of Israel (Ezekiel 33:11)?
Believe Everything God Says
[Love] beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things [in accordance with the Word of God] (I Corinthians 13:7). Human love will bear the burdens of family and friends but not the burdens of others; however, divine love will bear all things God wants it to. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple (Luke 14:27). You have to bear your cross, or you are not the Lord’s disciple.
Paul said, We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves (Romans 15:1). Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body (II Corinthians 4:10).
Divine love will believe all things God has told us to believe in His Word. Teaching them to observe [accept and follow] all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway [all the way], even unto the end of the world. Amen (Matthew 28:20). You can’t accept something you don’t believe.
Divine love will put divine hope in all things God has promised, and that hope will take you to the threshold of faith. Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost (Romans 15:13). The Bible lets you know again that you must have the Holy Ghost to have the power you need to endure and stand in this life.
Paul stood for God no matter what he faced. According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death (Philippians 1:20). The Apostle Paul endured such horrible persecution that he preferred death to life many times; but the Lord told him, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (II Corinthians 12:9).
Divine love will endure all things for the sake of Christ and the Gospel. Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God (I Peter 2:18-20).
God’s love will always be sufficient to take you through anything. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ (II Timothy 2:3). Can you endure persecution? What about correction and punishment? If ye endure chastening [correction], God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not (Hebrews 12:7)?
You will have to endure much to get this Gospel to the world before Jesus comes. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist [have an evangelistic heart], make full proof of thy ministry (II Timothy 4:5). When souls are your business, God will take care of everything else for you the right way—His way.
Divine Love Never Fails
Last but not least, the Bible says, Charity never faileth (I Corinthians 13:8). Divine love is always successful in achieving good, and it never fails a test. It never becomes weak or inadequate, and it never falls short.
Jesus took on the fashion of a human being and paid the ultimate price to show us that divinity would work and that divine love would never fail. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:8). Nothing but divine love could have led Jesus to the Cross and kept God from coming down and delivering His Son from that cruel Cross. Only divine love could have kept Jesus from calling legions of angels to rescue Him.
If divine love saw the Father and the Son through those awful hours, you never need to worry about it failing to see you through. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love (I John 4:18). You don’t have to be afraid of anything. Just honor the Lord and have plenty of His love, and that love will destroy all fear.
When you think you are going to fail at something God has asked you to do, check your love. Are you using human love or divine love? As you now know, human love won’t get you very far; but divine love will get you anywhere.
There is nothing stronger, more pure or right than divine love. It is as strong as God Himself; and the Bible says, God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him (I John 4:16). He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love (I John 4:8).
Divine Love Will Make You New
The Lord has let me know that some of you are strangers to love because of the way you were raised. You are crippled when it comes to giving and receiving love, and you would rather withdraw into your own little world than take a chance on love. That is why you must become a new creature in Christ Jesus. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17).
When you are born again, you will come into a whole new world full of divine love. Then you can have all the divine attributes of that love through the power of the Holy Ghost. But the fruit of the Spirit is love (Galatians 5:22).
The Lord loves all people, but He doesn’t love their sin and wickedness. That is why Jesus wants to save anyone who will ask Him to. The Bible says, And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21). People don’t have to struggle to be saved.
When we go to the mission fields, thousands of people are saved in a matter of minutes as I have them cry out to God. It is wonderful indeed to see the love of God come down in waves of glory and cover up the people so they can feel God’s great love. Then they can take that love home and share it with their family and friends.
If you don’t know the love of Jesus in full reality, let me persuade you as one who loves your soul to believe in the blood love that stained the Old Rugged Cross. It will cleanse you and make you a new creature in Christ. It will deliver you, give you peace in your soul and bring you into wonderful fellowship with God.
Accept God’s Love
If you want to know Jesus and His love, pray the sinner’s prayer and ask the Lord to let His blood love flow into your soul right now. Oh, God, I know you love me, and I want that love in my life. I am so sorry that I have sinned against you, and I am asking you to forgive me of all my sins. I believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary with divine blood, and I believe He shed His divine blood that gives power to wash away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in.
If you meant that prayer, the powerful, divine blood of Jesus has made your soul new. In a split second, all your sins were washed away through the blood of the Lamb. Put your trust in the blood and the love of Jesus that He brought down from Heaven to redeem fallen humanity.
Now, you must go on to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost. You won’t make the Rapture without it, and you won’t have the divine love you should in this life. You have to yield to the Spirit and walk in the Spirit to have such love produced in and through you. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). You have to let the Holy Spirit have His way.
Divine Love Will Heal You
Jesus shed divine blood for salvation and healing. Without divine love, there would be no healing for us today; but with it, there is healing through the blood of Jesus for whatever disease or affliction you may have—cancer, heart trouble, AIDS, diabetes or anything else. With his stripes [Jesus’ blood stripes] we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).
If you need healing today, accept this prayer of faith: Lord, here the people are. I have brought them the living Word and the truth about your love. Now, from your supernatural gifts of healing and miracles, deliver them. Through the name and the blood of your Son, Jesus, healing flows. Heal! in the name of Jesus! Heal! in the holy name of the Lord.
To all of you who have accepted this love message, the Lord has flowed His anointing of healing and deliverance. Open your heart and mind to the Lord, and He will give you wisdom and understanding of His love and how it works. He will show you how to receive from the great promises He holds for those who love and serve Him with their whole hearts. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together (Psalm 34:3). Use the great love of God that flows to you daily and rejoice in it.
