Come

October 2004
To those of you who say, “Oh, Lord, help me! Come to me!” realize that He has already come to you; now it’s time for you to come to Him. Don’t ask again for the Lord to come to you; say instead, “Lord, I’m coming to you. I see the open door to the throne room, and I’m going through.” The Bible tells us to come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
In Matthew’s Gospel the fourteenth chapter, we read of a remarkable incident, the miracle of Jesus walking the waters. He may have walked the waters a number of times, I don’t know; the Bible didn’t have room to tell us everything. John wrote these words: There are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written (John 21:25). How marvelous!
No one was closer to Jesus than John the beloved. Jesus loved John, and John loved Jesus; John still loves Him. With Jesus in Heaven today, John will never be apart from Him again.
Matthew 14:25-29, And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. The disciples thought Jesus was a spirit because they saw Him walking the water as though it were pavement. What a miracle! They’d never before seen miracle power on that fashion. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. Ever since Calvary, Come! has been a standing invitation to all. Come to the Lord! Don’t wait for the Lord to come to you; He said, Come!
Matthew 14:29, And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. Peter didn’t say, “Lord, come and get me.” He said, “If it be you, Lord, bid me come.” Peter was an expert fisherman, knowledgeable about the Sea of Galilee, and he wasn’t about to step out to walk the waters on his own. He was a good swimmer, I’m sure, but never a good walker on water.
In this last and final hour, we’re going to see God’s miracle power manifested in unbelievable ways. We’ll see the ministry of Christ and the greatness of the power of the Holy Ghost in full operation as we step out on the waters of life, not sinking and not afraid.
Perfect Love Casts Out Fear
Fear will be a temporary thing for members of the bridal company. Why? Fear can’t stay because where the love of God is, fear is cast out. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear (I John 4:18). For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). You don’t have to pray to get rid of fear; let the Holy Spirit use the love of God in your heart and He’ll flush it right out of your mind. Never worry about being afraid. Decide that with God you have nothing to fear, nothing to worry about. With all my heart, I believe that’s true; do you believe it with all your heart?
Isaiah 1:18, Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD. Come; let’s talk. But if you want to talk to the Lord, you need to go where He is. And where is that? The Lord is on saving ground, sanctifying ground, holy ground, promising ground; and He wants you to come to Him on that ground where His power is. Come away from doubt, fear and unbelief. Leave behind that depression and oppression and come to Him.
Waiting for the Lord to come to you, some of you are depressed because things don’t happen the way you think they should. Some of you want a miracle, need a miracle today, but you want the Lord to come to you. While you’re waiting for Him to come, you don’t see that Heaven’s door is open and He’s bidding you to come to Him. Come, get your miracle! Come, have all your needs supplied: Come, come, come!
Answer His Call
The great cry is going forth throughout the world for people to come to God; but most inhabitants of the earth are not heeding that call, and that includes many church members. People may pray, but they won’t come to the Lord, won’t answer His call. It’s time for us to answer the call of the Lord.
Come is a small word. When Jesus was here on Earth He said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). When you have a burden too heavy for you, all you have to do is answer God’s call. Yet some of you are forever carrying burdens you have no business carrying. Why? You haven’t heeded the word Come, haven’t answered that call to give your burden to the Lord. You needn’t expect the Lord to come and tear down the door to get to you. No, He said, Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20). If you open the door, He’ll come in. Jesus is at the door, nigh to you right now with your miracle. Are you coming to Him in faith to receive? You can only reach Him through faith.
God Gives Faith
The Bible says, God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). Never could you have found Calvary without faith; everyone is offered a measure of faith. But most people have never accepted that measure of faith to take them to Calvary, to find forgiveness for their sins, to be born new, born until they quit all of their sinning. The Lord gave His whole heart, gave all of His love to make a Calvary, but a lot of preachers have never met God at Calvary. That’s the reason they say a person can’t live free from sin.
How do you get out of darkness? You have to make the effort to come out. When the Lord Jesus walked the earth, the people who sat in darkness saw great light (Matthew 4:16). Sadly, they didn’t all come to the light. However, all had power to come if they wanted to; God had furnished the faith for them to do it. Instead of loving the light, they loved darkness, loved their sins, loved their dirty lives and chose not to come into the light, didn’t want to face it.
Jesus calls, Come out of darkness! If there’s darkness in your life, it’s your own fault; Heaven will not take any blame for it. Come out of doubt; decide you have no room in your heart for doubt; why make room for it? When the Lord gives you faith, He gives you faith to destroy all doubt.
Doubts may come, but don’t let them linger. Doubts are fiery darts straight from the devil. Use your shield, the armor of God. The Bible tells us above all to take the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16).
Power to Do the Works of Jesus
God’s salvation is a working salvation. The Lord gives you His power and He expects you to use it. Jesus gave power to the twelve disciples and sent them forth to use it. He called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where (Luke 9:1,2,6).
Jesus gave power to the seventy laypeople, and they went forth. The Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven (Luke 10:1,17-20). When the seventy came back to Jesus, rejoicing because the devils were under subjection to them through His name, He told them not to rejoice because they were able to cast out devils, but to rejoice because their names were written in the Lamb’s book of life. The Lord wanted them to keep their minds on the blood, the divine blood, and the value of their soul’s salvation.
Life More Abundant
Sinless blood must be yours; you won’t get to Heaven without it. However, you have it in your soul if you are born-again. Jesus had divine blood in His veins, not physical blood. No sin was ever meant to be in the mind or soul of man and woman in Eden. Adam and Eve had divine blood until they sinned. Had not sin contaminated their divine blood, they would have lived for all eternity in a body of clay like we have. Divine blood in their veins meant they never would have been sick, never had trouble with blindness or growing old, never had left their youth. Divine blood would have kept them always the same age they were in Eden. The Lord has that kind of keeping power, and He’s promised to renew our youth. But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
There are many things that the Lord has promised His children, but most never reach out for those promises. They don’t dare reach out because they listen when the devil tells them No. Turn a deaf ear to the devil and listen to the Lord’s great welcome word: Come! Come to me and leave behind your disobedience, your doubt, your fear. Come out of that valley of death into life, into abundant living. Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6). Come into the truth.
The Lord calls people to holiness. He has nothing else to call you to but holiness, righteousness, and the purity of God. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God (Matthew 5:8). Does that sound as though you can sin, that everyone sins? How could anyone sin and still have a pure heart?
The Sermon on the Mount is vitally important. The Lord poured out the truth about sin in that Sermon. One of the very first sermons Jesus preached, the first one recorded in the Word of God, is the greatest sermon ever preached, dealing with people from the cradle to the grave. Every time you earnestly study the Sermon on the Mount, you get something new out of it. It’s as deep as God Himself, and the Lord meant it to be like that.
The Word Defeats the Devil
Come to the Lord; reason with Him. Some of you talk to the devil regardless of the fact that there’s no reasoning in him. God doesn’t reason with the devil, nor does Jesus. As very man, Jesus met the devil head-on for you and me with It is written. Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve (Matthew 4:1-10). Give the devil what God has said, nothing less, nothing more. The devil knows he cannot defeat the Word.
The Psalmist said, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11). He knew the Word in his heart would keep him from sinning—the blood Word—and the blood Word in our hearts keeps us from sinning.
Cast Your Nets on the Right Side
John 21:2-12, There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes. Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea. And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken. Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
Come, Jesus said, and dine. The disciples had fished the night through and caught nothing, but they were not fishing on the right side. Not having that faith, that love, that peace, they were so weary that they didn’t want to cast another time. All they wanted to do was get something to eat and then go to sleep.
There’s nothing more discouraging, I’m sure, than to fish all night and catch nothing. But when the Lord finds discouraged people, many times their discouragement will humble them until they yield to the Lord so that He can perform a fantastic miracle. The disciples had to get to that place; they were weary, tired. Again and again they had cast their nets. Then Jesus said, “Cast the nets on the right side of the boat.” When they obeyed Him, they caught fish, fish, fish.
The disciples saw the Lord cooking for them on shore. He took the place of a humble cook to feed that crew, and those fish must have tasted good! Wouldn’t you like Jesus to cook you a few fish? If He said, Come and dine, to you, wouldn’t you come? You do have that invitation. Spiritually, He’s preparing the menu for you daily, crying: Come and dine! His great love, His great faith say, Come! What a marvelous voice is giving that invitation! His divine peace is saying, Come, but after He spends all that time getting ready for you, some of you don’t hear His call. There you are tormented, feeling unloved, and unresponsive.
Separate from Wrong Ways
The reason some of you have had such a hard time serving God is that you won’t respond to one word: Come. Can’t you see how set you are in your ways that hinder your answering His call? Come out of those ways! Separate yourself from all the things that trouble you. Sometimes the trouble is with other people; and to get rid of the depression and oppression they bring, you have to separate from the container, the person who holds those things. I’ve seen people I had to get away from to have peace, and I get away from them as fast as I can.
God’s holiness is saying, Come, come, come! but people won’t answer; they don’t think they can live free from sin. When you answer the Lord’s call and come to His salvation and His blood deliverance, you find that you can live free from sin without any trouble. It’s just as easy to live free from sin as it is for water to run downhill. All you have to do is take on the new creation. Jesus, the second Adam, made it possible for you to have a divine chance at abundant life, pure living in a life undefiled, cleansed from sin.
It’s tragic when people won’t answer this call to purity, to the righteousness of God. Answer the call daily. All He says to you is Come!
A Still, Small Voice
Many of us don’t recognize the call of God. We’re looking for His call to be dramatic, earthshaking with the rocks breaking, the winds howling. However, when Elijah was on the mount, he knew that great manifestations of the elements weren’t God; he didn’t feel any God in them. A great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah (I Kings 19:11-13)? Elijah recognized the still, small voice that said, Come, Elijah. It was the voice of God.
When Elijah came to the Lord, the first thing the Lord asked was what he was doing there. Elijah had earlier fled for his life when wicked Jezebel threatened to kill him. He knew she meant to do it; he yielded to the fear that took him over, and he ran away. Fear drained the heart out of Elijah, and discouragement overcame him. If Elijah hadn’t been so discouraged that he ran away, hid in the wilderness and asked the Lord to take his life, he would have simply answered the call of God: Come! But he was so dejected that he thought everyone had backslidden but him. And he [Elijah] said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away (I Kings 19:14). He told the Lord that all the people were worshiping Baal but him; everyone else had kissed his mouth. But the Lord said, I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him (I Kings 19:18).
Had only Elijah waited for the invitation of the Lord: Come, Elijah, let us reason together, he would have avoided much distress.
Stand Still and See God’s Salvation
The only way you are going to stay away from being buried in destructive situations is to listen for the call: Come! When facing trials, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
Exodus 14:13, And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day. Moses was waiting for the word Come. And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea (Exodus 14:15,16). When the Lord told him to come, bring the people, they saw a highway right through the Red Sea.
Had Israel only continued to listen obediently to that word Come, in eleven days they would have been in Canaan. But it took them forty years to get to the Promised Land; and the mothers and fathers, all who were over twenty years old when they left Egypt—except for Caleb and Joshua—never got there. The rest died in the wilderness. Why? Because they wouldn’t accept the call: Come!
God is so mighty that all He has to do is to use one word; all the power, all the peace you need is in that word. All the healing, all the miracles you need is in that one word—Come!
God Knows Your Need
The Lord looks in on hearts and knows what the need is. When you’re suffering untold agony, in a dying condition as I was at twenty-three, you get to the place you don’t hear the word, Come! You’re suffering so much your mind doesn’t seem to focus; it feels as though God has forgotten you, that He isn’t going to heal you. He had let me suffer for such a long time; I had watched as my body went down to about a skeleton. Never can I describe the agony of that condition. No one could have worse pain; it would be impossible. But when I thought all was lost, Jesus came. He was there saying, Come! Come into good health; stand before me and we’ll reason together. I listened as He told me that later I would go on a long fast, and when I came out of that fast, I would have His power for the healing of the people.
Answering the word Come, I now had my mind focused because I accepted the reasoning power of the Holy Spirit, and I knew I was going to live. The Lord said I would take healing to the people, that I would have His gifts, His power, and I knew that all hell, all the powers of darkness couldn’t kill me. Without a doubt I would live by just answering the one word: Come! Come into my obedience. Come and listen to what I want of you. Come, I have somewhat to say to you. Come, I have healing for you, not doubt; come away from doubt. With one Word the Lord calls us away from doubt, fear, desperation, and discouragement.
Made Completely New
If you become born again like I did, you’ll find it’s easy to live free from sin, easier than living in sin. If you can’t understand that, then you need to go back to Calvary. I was completely delivered, completely set free. I had no desire for sin—and I had loved the world so much, really pined over leaving it. I thought I was leaving my life, thought I was dying at eighteen. I couldn’t have any fun with all of those “thou shalt nots,” and I knew I should obey them; however, I didn’t want to. But when the Lord saved me, He didn’t just make part of me new; He made me new all over. He took all desire for the world out of me.
The things I once loved, I now hated. The night I was saved, I was one person when I went to church and a completely different person when I left. The Lord had made me new just like He had made the Ephesians new that Paul wrote to. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:1,5,6,8,9). Jesus, the second Adam, had done it, brought about this glorious salvation. It was so unbelievable, yet it was all very real.
I had left the house of God that night with different ears, different eyes. Not eyes of lust any longer, I was new. There was no shady talk, no shady words left in me, none whatsoever. There was no laughter to come out of me over unclean jokes; I had left it all. I didn’t fight over trying to give up sin after I came to Calvary. It was before I came to Calvary that I was tormented, when the Lord was convicting me, when He was after me day and night for so many days that I lost count. At that time I had such fear, such darkness that I was sure God would drop me right into hell if I didn’t come to Him.
But when I became born again, all of that struggle was gone. What rest I had that night! I’d been tormented by old-time Holy Ghost blood conviction, and now I wasn’t tormented, wasn’t worried about any sins now. I wasn’t worried about never waking up because I knew without a doubt I’d wake up in Heaven—and what peace I had! God had given me life and joy unspeakable. I didn’t need the world’s music, didn’t need to be on the dance floor ever again to make me happy, nor did I desire to seek pleasures of the world; I was far beyond that.
What joy I had as I was elevated and made to sit in a heavenly place with Him! Walking on the clouds with Jesus, clouds of pure peace, joy, love and fellowship, I was hand-in-hand with Him. I was a brand-new Ernest Angley, and everyone acquainted with me knew it. I didn’t have to tell them, they knew it. My relatives knew it, and I knew it: I wasn’t the same.
Follow the Steps of Jesus
The Lord’s longsuffering spirit has given me patience to help people all over the world, and I received it through answering the call: Come! The gentleness that the Lord Jesus brought me was through my answering the word Come. That goodness of Jesus, of the Holy Spirit, I had through that one word. That wonderful phrase, I have come to do your will, oh, God, I could say just like Jesus had said it. I said it from the depths of my heart. Without taking a second look back to the world, without opening any doors to it, I went through the door the Lord had opened for me. I came out of all sin.
If you think you can’t live free from sin, it’s because you’ve never really answered the call, Come, come, come to Jesus! When you come to the Lord, you wear His shoes and walk in His steps. Follow thou me (John 21:22), Jesus said. The Bible declares we should walk exactly like Jesus walked. His meekness says, Come!
People may claim they can’t control their anger, but a good dose of real blood salvation will cure that. Then they won’t lose their temper uncontrollably, kick the cat out the door, break the dishes. That’s stupid. God’s people are not given anything but His wisdom, love and knowledge. When they really get saved, they stop breaking things. They used to be the devil’s dummy, but they’re not anymore. Anger is good when it’s used against the devil, when it’s under control of the Holy Spirit.
Some of you let the devil have control, but he can’t do anything with you when you know and use the truth. The Lord wants you to come to the truth; that means you leave all false behind. After you receive salvation, go on and receive the precious baptism of the Holy Ghost.
Ask What You Will
When you come to the truth, you exclude the devil; he can’t be found in the truth. If you want to get rid of the devil, abide in the truth. Jesus said, If ye abide in me, and my words [my truth] abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). Do you swallow, stammer and stumble over that one? Are you afraid to ask what you will? If you’re ready to do His will, then you can ask what you will. But if you’re not ready to do all His will, then don’t ask for His will to be done in your life, and don’t ask for your will to be done either.
Free Indeed
The word Come is an invitation to Heaven’s liberty. It’s wonderful to answer this call, for you come into the liberty of Heaven, the liberty of Jesus Christ. He brought deliverance, freedom, to all peoples. Jesus said, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36).
Does “being free indeed” sound as though you are still in sin? If you had one speck of sin left in your life, you wouldn’t be free. After I was born again, I knew that not one speck of sin was in my life, and I know there isn’t one speck today. If the Lord would say, Son, it’s time for you to go home, do you think I’d stop and start praying for the Lord to forgive me of my sins? No. There would be nothing to forgive. Some truly born-again people constantly pray for the Lord to forgive them. God help them! It’s time for them to get the victory and pray for God to forgive other people of their sins.
The Soul That Sinneth Shall Die
I preach this and I practice this: The Lord is our liberty. He said come to the blood, the blood of eternal life. Take His divine blood into your soul, and that means your soul is going to live forever. Before salvation, there is not a sign of life in that soul of yours. Desolation, frustration, despair and sin, sin, sin are there; but when you come to Calvary you find Him, the One who calls, Come! It is Jesus in all His glory; you can find Him as much as any disciple has ever found Him, find Him in the reality that Peter and John found Him; find Him in even more reality than they found Him before the Crucifixion and Resurrection. Meet Him as the crucified one who died for you.
I can’t remember the first time my mother told me the story of Jesus’ dying for me because He loved me so much. Although I knew He loved me, I never realized I’d ever find Him in such glorious love. When you have a true born-again experience, you’re almost in Heaven; you have citizenship papers to that wonderful place. Your passport, the blood of Jesus, will take you there. Now that you’re a member of the family of God with divine blood in your soul, you have no room for sin. The soul that sinneth, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:4). God has never changed that cry to the human race: The soul that sinneth shall die! God first said it to a perfect man and a perfect woman, Adam and Eve; and when they sinned, they died spiritually and later physically.
We were all born in the death of sins, iniquities, trespasses, born with no ticket to Heaven. How awful is the sin nature we were conceived in! The Bible declares it and the Bible is all truth and nothing false.
To be really new, delivered, set free by the grace of God, you must turn your mind over to Him. But some people won’t give up all the world; they’re miserable, thinking the Christian walk is too hard. It is hard when you won’t walk with Him, when you don’t listen to the word Come.
Listen to that word Come; never pass it up. Pass up anyone, anything and everything to answer that one word: Come! It’s the greatest word that the Lord could speak to us. Come to Calvary! Come to salvation! Come to Heaven! Come to eternal life! When Jesus said Come to Calvary, He was saying Come and be free! Come and have Eden on the inside while you live and walk among men here on Earth just as I did. Come! Be like me! As your divine Master I’ll take all the unnecessary burdens as you bring in the lost.
Receive the Holy Ghost
When the Lord saved me that night, took my burden of sin and rolled it away, to my amazement He immediately rolled another burden upon me, the burden for a lost world. From that hour I have had the tears of Calvary for the lost. Completely sober-minded in the grace blood, I was, I say again, no longer intoxicated by the world; I didn’t need any of it. And the Spirit was bidding me to come and receive the Holy Ghost baptism, power from On Hig. I tried my best from the time God saved me to answer that one word: Come! I would confess to the Lord, “Lord, you know the Holy Ghost baptism is one thing I can’t believe for myself.” I believed it for my parents, my two older sisters; I believed it for the many people I’d seen receive the real Holy Ghost baptism when I was a child. Witnessing many of them receive the baptism, I knew it was real. I had watched their lives of holiness and righteousness, but for Him to take my tongue, I couldn’t believe. However, I told Him, “Lord, I’ll seek you; I’ll never give up.”
It didn’t take me long to receive the Holy Ghost baptism after I was saved because I answered that word Come! night and day. I was doing my best to climb those steps to the Upper Room crying: “Lord, give me the Holy Ghost!” I’d open up my Bible to Acts 2:4 and read, And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. “Lord,” I said, “I want what you gave them on the Day of Pentecost.” I was determined not to settle for anything less, and I didn’t. I received a marvelous experience in the Holy Ghost, an experience to never doubt, an experience that would always be with me all the days of my life.
Baptized in the real Holy Ghost, I started preaching at once. I received the Holy Ghost on a Saturday night and on Monday or Tuesday I was called on to read a scripture in a prayer meeting. I didn’t know I was going to preach, but a voice said, “Look up,” and when I did, it seemed as though from my waist up I went into a cloud of glory. I started preaching and I’ve been preaching ever since. I’d go into the Spirit and the sermons would just roll as the people would seem to swim before my eyes. Totally committed, totally given over to God, I’ve spent all kinds of time, endless hours with the Lord, devouring the Word and listening to Him say, Come, come, come! I didn’t miss any friends of the world, didn’t miss anything of the world. I was carried away with the word Come. In other words, I was answering that invitation, and I’m still answering it today.
Come! that’s all you have to do; answer that call to salvation and then to the baptism of the Holy Spirit; let Him fill you to the brim. In the blood is the promise of the infilling of the Spirit. Decide to tarry until you’re baptized in the Holy Ghost; don’t let the devil rob you.
Come into Salvation and Healing
But you who have not been born again, won’t you say the sinners’ prayer with me now? Oh, God! Save my soul! Forgive me for all my sins. I’m sorry that I have sinned against you, but I have come home, and I’m going to serve you, Lord, the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus, the divine blood flows over my soul now and washes away all my sins, all my disobediences, all my arrogance—all of it! I believe that Jesus is ready to come into my heart. Come on in, Jesus! Come on in!
If you meant that prayer, He has come; He is yours. Walk with Him. He will never leave you or forsake you. When you have the blood, you have the whole Jesus.
I am not your healer: I am the Lord’s believer. Cancer victim, you who are paralyzed, sick, afflicted, you with HIV, AIDS: There is no disease or affliction too hard for the Lord to heal. With His stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). With the blood stripes, healing comes; it’s promised in God’s Word. Lord, here they are. The need is so great, and I told them you are the healer. In your blood is the miracle, the healing for them or their little ones. In the name of Jesus, in the all-powerful name of Jesus I come, and with the blood stripes of your Son, the sick will be healed. From your supernatural gift of miracles and your gifts of healing, the miracle comes in the name of your Son Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of the Living God. Heal! Heal! I pray in the blood name of Jesus.
The healing power is flowing, flowing. Always remember, with His blood stripes you have healing. Let that power work. It can get you well just as it got me well. Although I had gone to the edge of the grave, the power in the blood renewed my strength and destroyed all the disease and affliction in my body. The Lord made me whole, and He loves you today just the way He loved me that night He came to me and healed me. The name is Jesus and He cares. Come into all His love, grace and delivering power today and forevermore.
