Called To Glory And Virtue
by Ernest Angley

According as his [God’s] divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue (II Peter 1:3). You must understand what glory and virtue are before you can know what God has called you to.
Glory is magnificence or great beauty, and the Bible tells us that there are different kinds of glory. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory (I Corinthians 15:40,41). There are billions of stars; but God has given each one its own glory and magnificence.
There is a glory of kingdoms and riches, and the devil tried to tempt Jesus with the glory of the kingdoms of the world. Again, the devil taketh him [Jesus] up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them. And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me(Matthew 4:8,9). The devil was trying to deceive Jesus, but it didn’t work; and Jesus rebuked him. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve (Matthew 4:10).
Take On the Image of Christ
God’s glory is worth all of our praise, and it is the only glory we should be interested in. In calling us to His glory, God has called us to be in the image of Christ. When people see us, they should see the distinguishing qualities of Jesus that set us apart from the world. They should see His magnificence and beauty reflecting from us.
When God first made man, He made him in His image. In the Garden of Eden, He said to the Son and the Holy Ghost, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness (Genesis 1:26). But Adam and Eve lost that image when they sold out to the devil. Then Jesus had to come to Earth to buy back everything Adam and Eve had lost.
Jesus gave up His place next to the Father’s throne and came to Earth as a man. Then He gave His life to give us life. The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28).
Jesus made Himself poor to make us eternally rich and to make us the righteousness of our heavenly Father. For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich (II Corinthians 8:9). For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him (II Corinthians 5:21).
When you become saved, you can have the image of God once again. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him (Colossians 3:10). Then you have to live in the image of Jesus, and the Lord knew that some of us would. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8:29). We have to be like God’s only Son to be in the family of God and to reap all its benefits.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass[a mirror] the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord (II Corinthians 3:18). The Word of God is your mirror; and when you look into it, you must see yourself as you really are. Some may then turn away and forget what manner of person they are, but God doesn’t forget.
God has called us to glory and virtue, and He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness; so how can anyone say it is impossible to have the image of Christ? How can anyone say that human beings cannot attain such a standard of holiness? You cannot pay attention to such people.
Give God the Glory
We should never seek glory for ourselves; we should only seek to glorify God. Understanding that and doing that will bring God to you in a wonderful way. I have always given God the glory for everything, and I live to let God use me so people can see His glory.
I never pray for the sick without first glorifying the Lord. From the time God gave me His healing power so many years ago, I have never taken one speck of His glory; I heap it all upon Him. God does so much during my crusade services, but I don’t want the people to think it is of me. I keep turning them to Jesus by asking, “Who did this? Who do you love?” And I make them answer, “Jesus!” I ask, “Who would you do anything for?” And they cry, “Jesus!” I ask, “Who will do anything for you?” And again, they cry, “Jesus!”
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:14). Jesus was the Word made flesh; and through Him, we are given glory, grace and truth. Jesus said to His Father, And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them[His disciples]; that they may be one, even as we are one (John 17:22). We are the Lord’s disciples today, and we are to be one in Him and live in His glory.
To give God the glory He deserves and desires, you need to give Jesus His proper place in your life. God must come first in all things. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matthew 5:16). When you give Jesus His rightful place 24 hours a day, you will be a blessing to many; and you will glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
All of your actions must be the same as Christ’s actions, and others looking on will marvel at what they are seeing. When I am facing a problem that I don’t know what to do with, I always stop and ask myself, “What would Jesus do?” Then I don’t make a move until I know what He would do.
After serving the Lord for so many years, I am a testimony to the fact that God will never fail you when you wait upon Him. In His love and grace, you will get the answers you need; and that will save you from so much heartache and from so many sleepless nights of worrying about whether or not you did the right thing.
Join the Family of God
Jesus came to make us sons and daughters of God. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons[or daughters] of God, even to them that believe on his name (John 1:12). We can have all the benefits that Jesus had when He was here; and if we don’t have something we need, all we have to do is ask. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you(Matthew 7:7).
When Jesus came, He gave His Father to us; and He taught us to pray, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name (Matthew 6:9). He also said we have to be perfect like our Father. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect (Matthew 5:48).
If you are a true son or daughter of God, He is your Father; and you must know that He hears you when you pray. You should end every prayer with “Father, you always hear me,” just as Jesus did. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always(John 11:41,42).
When you pray that way, you should never doubt. Doubt breeds fear, and fear will destroy the blessings of God. The Bible says, But let him ask in faith[not in doubt or fear], nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord (James 1:6).
Doubt is idle talk, and that is the devil’s language. That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment (Matthew 12:36). God doesn’t listen to doubt and idle talk, so you don’t have to listen to it either.
Turn Only to God
Like Job, I told the Lord I would pay any price for Him, even though I didn’t know what that price would be. The devil destroyed all of Job’s livestock, material wealth and even his children; yet Job still said, Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him (Job 13:15). I have studied Job so much, and God used Job to bring me to where I am today. No one could turn Job against God, and no one can turn me against God either.
When I am tried, I am determined to come forth as pure as gold just as Job was. As Job said, He[God] knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold (Job 23:10). You must have that same determination because God is counting on you, and He is always encouraging us to move on.
You have to turn your enemies over to God who said, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19). There are those who will lie and lie about true children of God, but people lied about Paul, too. Paul said that the ones he loved and did the most for treated him the worst. I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved (II Corinthians 12:15).
We don’t serve man first; we serve the Lord. Then we must take Jesus, His truth and His grace to everybody we can. If people won’t accept those things, then we have nothing more to serve them; so don’t worry about them. People who don’t want the truth will be on their way to hell.
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified (I Peter 4:14). When you are walking with God, the devil will do everything he can to stop you; but you must not stop. You must let the Holy Spirit lead you right on through.
God has a purpose for everything He does, for every way He leads us; and sooner or later, you will find out what that purpose is. So there is no need to ask, “God, why do I have to go through this?” You just have to wait on God.
The Bible says, Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10). Tune in to Heaven and listen, and stay plugged in to the throne of God all the time. Then when you need something done quickly for yourself or someone else, you won’t have to take the time to pray through; you will be ready.
Stand for God
Never let the devil or man turn you away from God. You must be careful who you associate with, what you hear and what you see. The reason people say they can’t live holy is because they don’t want to, and they do not want to glorify God because they think they are wiser than God.
Paul knew people like that; and he said, Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things (Romans 1:21-23).
Those people knew God, and they knew what He wanted of them; but they wouldn’t give it to Him. They knew about salvation, but they didn’t want it because they were seeking their own glory and the glory of man; and many people do the same thing today.
The Lord said, I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts(Isaiah 65:2). Many people today are consumed with themselves and their material possessions, and they don’t think they need God; but if they continue to reject God’s call to glory and virtue, they will wake up someday and find out how wrong they have been. Then it may be too late.
Jesus said to the church of Laodicea, So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked (Revelation 3:16,17).
Those who think they are wise in themselves and have everything they need without God are really nothing. The Bible plainly tells us that we are nothing without God’s love. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity[love], I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing (I Corinthians 13:1,2).
You have to stand for God and do what He wants you to do no matter what others say or do, and you can do that by putting on the whole armor of God. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).
Does Your Life Glorify God?
You are supposed to do all things to the glory of God. Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God (I Corinthians 10:31). Everything you do has to be pure, clean and holy like God. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God (Philippians 1:11).
The fruits of righteousness are the fruits of the Holy Spirit, and we must bear them in glory and praise to God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance (Galatians 5:22,23). When God looks upon us, He wants to see the righteous fruits of the Holy Ghost in our lives.
Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ (II Thessalonians 2:14). God gives us that glory, but we must give it back to Him. Never keep God’s glory for yourself. You have to praise Him and give Him all the glory for the things He does. You have to be a shining light of God’s truth and grace, and that is what His glory will bring to you.
Now, you will have to suffer persecutions to have that glory just like Jesus did. For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings (Hebrews 2:10). The more power from On High you have, the more you will suffer; but you must not let anything stop you from doing everything God wants done.
You have to get rid of all troubles and unnecessary burdens and carry the burden for the lost. Jesus said, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). You have to let Jesus carry your burdens and then go forth to finish His work. Your hands must be His to use, and He will give you plenty to serve to others.
Divine Virtue
Let’s move on to study virtue. Virtue is a quality of moral excellence or being conformed to righteousness. You have that virtue in you when you are in the condition the Lord wants you to be in; and that virtue heals, strengthens and brings you power and greatness. When that virtue is working, it lets people know we are different from the world. Many may call it fanaticism, but they can’t stop themselves from seeing it.
The heavenly virtue, or you can call it power, is in the divine blood, in the Word and in the Holy Ghost who dwells in those who have received Him. That virtue will accomplish the effect of righteousness and true holiness, and that is what you have when you are born new. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4:24). For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink[and that is all some people reach for]; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17).
Jesus had healing virtue, power to heal the sick; and He could feel that virtue leave His body when someone who had faith to be made whole would touch Him. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him[Jesus], and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched(Luke 8:43,44). There was healing virtue in Jesus’ garment.
And Jesus said, Who touched me…Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace (Luke 8:45-48). The woman’s faith in the Lord’s healing virtue had made her whole.
Others knew what touching Jesus could do for them as well. And the whole multitude sought to touch him[Jesus]: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all (Luke 6:19).
Receive the Holy Ghost
The Lord’s divine virtue is in your life if you are living holy before God, and the Lord and the Holy Ghost will flow that virtue through you to others. Study it; be humbly proud of it, and give time to God’s glory, virtue and power. Thus saith the Lord, you must have that power.
The Bible tells us, Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8). If you do not have the Holy Ghost, you need to seek Him. How? Praise Him with the word “glory.” There is nothing that will glorify God more than someone saying, “Glory, glory, glory.” In doing that, you are giving Him the glory for all His blessings to you, not just those of today or yesterday.
You also have to hunger and thirst for the Holy Ghost and want Him with your whole heart. Jesus said, Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6).
The Holy Spirit bears witness of Jesus, and He will quicken you to do what God wants you to do. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11).
The Holy Spirit is a real person, and He is our great teacher and guide. He also makes intercession to God for us. The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8:26,27).
Paul goes on to say that Jesus makes intercession for us, too. It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us (Romans 8:34).
Live in the Word
The Bible says, Giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge (II Peter 1:5). The more virtue you have in you and yield to, the more knowledge, understanding and divinity you will have; and those things come from the Word. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15). You have to study the Word, and you must want to know it from Genesis all the way through Revelation.
Don’t decide that you have to read a certain number of chapters a day; take your time with the Scriptures because every word God speaks is with power, and He wants you to understand His Word.
The Word endures forever, and it will never fail you. But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you (I Peter 1:25). But have you failed the Word? The Psalmist did not want to fail the Word; and he said, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee (Psalm 119:11).
You must think on the things the Word tells you to think on. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8). There is great virtue in those things, so don’t allow the devil to get your mind off of God. The Bible says, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3).
When you hide the Word of God in your heart, it will increase in you; and that will convince honest hearts to come to Jesus. And the word of God increased[grew]; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith[the Gospel of Jesus Christ] (Acts 6:7).
The Word grows only in grace, and only God’s people have that grace working within them. As the Word of God increases through you, it will enable you to take this Gospel to the whole world and serve divine love to people. And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you (I Thessalonians 3:12).
Beware of Hypocrites
You cannot study the Word or do anything else for God to receive glory from man. Jesus said, Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward (Matthew 6:2).
God despises when people do that, and the Bible says that such people loved the praise of men more than the praise of God (John 12:43). You must stay away from people like that because they are hypocrites, and God hates hypocrites.
A hypocrite is one who does something he wants to do and justifies it whether God approves of it or not. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate (Titus 1:16). Hypocrites claim to possess certain beliefs, virtues and principles that they really doubt; so they are just evil shells for the devil to use.
Hypocrites want glory for virtues they do not possess, and they want the praise of man more than the praise of God. Jesus said, And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward (Matthew 6:5,16). If you want the praise and approval of man more than you do God, you are treading on dangerous ground; and you will never make it to Heaven.
Hypocrites may claim to serve God, but they only worship Him as an outward show rather than worshiping Him from their heart with godly, holy fear. Jesus told the Pharisees, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness (Luke 11:39). It is sad when people just want to appear righteous rather than be righteous, when they give up God’s glory and virtue to pursue their own vain glory. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another (Galatians 5:26).
Never envy people who may look like they are getting along great by going their own way because sooner or later, it will catch up with them. You have to turn away and worship God in spirit and in truth. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him (John 4:23).
Do Not Follow the World
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ (Colossians 2:8). People in Paul’s day were doing this; and if you listen to man’s philosophy, it will destroy you.
Philosophy is not a teaching of Christ, and many who believe in it do not even believe in God. The Bible says, The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God (Psalm 14:1). People who give heed to man’s philosophy will not make the one flight out.
Those who are truly called to glory and virtue do not have a love affair with the world; they have left it behind. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (II Peter 1:4). God can only use those who have His divine nature, the same nature God gave to the first man; but Adam betrayed God’s trust, and that is why the world is in such a mess today.
You cannot love the world and go to Heaven. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him(I John 2:15). Many people are consumed by the world and its lust, and that is why there are so many spiritually dead churches, dead preachers and dead church members today. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world [of the devil] (I John 2:16).
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with[against] God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God (James 4:4). To be an enemy of God is terrible because He gave His Only Begotten Son so that we could have everlasting life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). God made Heaven for us, and He made it possible for us to go there.
Be Like Jesus
Jesus did so much when He was on Earth; but He said, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12). “Greater works” here means more of them, and we can only do those greater works through the power of the Holy Ghost. That is why Jesus prayed to the Father for Him to send us the Holy Ghost. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you(John 14:16,17).
Even Jesus did not start His Earth ministry until He had received the Holy Ghost. And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased(Mark 1:10,11).
After Jesus had received the baptism, the Spirit led Him into the wilderness to fast and pray. And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him (Mark 1:12,13).
Jesus is our example in everything, and that includes in showing love to others. Having and showing divine love shows that we are disciples of Christ. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another (John 13:35).
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world (I John 4:16,17). When you have perfect love, it doesn’t breed anything but goodness, mercy, greatness and miracles in abundance; and it doesn’t speak unkindly to people. Love speaks the language of Heaven. Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ (Philippians 1:27).
Jesus, the Miracle Worker
Miracles are a manifestation of the true glory and virtue of the Lord, and Jesus’ first miracle of turning the water into wine showed forth God’s glory. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory (John 2:11). Those who refuse to be called into God’s glory and virtue deny His miracles, so they are not of God; and He doesn’t claim to be their Father. Jesus said, Ye are of your father the devil (John 8:44).
Jesus was not with Mary and Martha when their brother, Lazarus, died; but before he died, Jesus told some of His disciples, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby(John 11:4).
Jesus did not arrive in Bethany until three days after Lazarus had died. Then Jesus saith unto her [Martha], Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God (John 11:40)? But Martha did not believe she would see it at that time. You have to believe God’s miracles can happen at any time, and that kind of faith will draw God to you.
God works through His true people to perform miracles and to manifest the greatness of God, but those who reject God will do all they can to undermine His miracles. Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man [Jesus] doeth many miracles. If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation (John 11:47,48).
Those chief priests and Pharisees did not trust God; they only cared about themselves, and God has nothing to do with that selfish, devilish spirit. That is why Jesus moved on and left those who didn’t believe behind. But though he [Jesus] had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him (John 12:37).
No Glory in Complaining
It is not enough to just witness the glory of God; you have to accept it, embrace it and use it. The Israelites saw the glory of the Lord like fire. And the LORD went before them[the Israelites] by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night (Exodus 13:21). But that did not stop them from murmuring and complaining. And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness (Exodus 16:2).
The Bible says, Do all things without murmurings and disputings(Philippians 2:14). You are not going to help people get saved, healed or filled with the Holy Ghost if you murmur and complain because you don’t even have the Holy Ghost yourself when you act like that.
The children of Israel saw amazing manifestations of God: And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel (Exodus 24:17). Did that change them? No.
At one time, the people actually heard God’s voice; and it felt like an earthquake under them. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly (Exodus 19:18). Still, that didn’t change them. They just told Moses to tell God never to speak to them again. And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die (Exodus 20:18,19).
Since Jesus came, we don’t have to fear God like the Israelites did. We can say, “Speak, Lord, your servant heareth,” just like little Samuel did when the Lord was calling to him. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth (I Samuel 3:10).
Live Spotless through Faith
We are called to God’s glory and virtue; and if that is what you seek after, eternal life will be yours. To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life (Romans 2:7).
The Lord is getting the Bride ready to be changed in a twinkling of an eye on Rapture Day. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (I Corinthians 15:51,52).
Only those who are without spot, wrinkle or blemish will make that one flight out. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:27).
You cannot be without blemish unless you have the mind of Christ. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ (I Corinthians 2:16). You must take on that mind and know what the Lord wants of you. If you don’t know what to say or do in a certain situation, stop and ask yourself, “What would Jesus say? What would Jesus do?” Then stand still and wait until you know.
The Holy Ghost will show you what to do. He has never failed me, and He will never fail you when you use the faith the Lord has instilled in you. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17).
Your faith will be tried; but if you stand fast, you will always come forth a winner for the glory of God. That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ (I Peter 1:7).
When you live holy, angels will always be there to help you. Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14)? Angels hold back the powers of darkness in my overseas crusades in unbelievable ways so God can perform signs, wonders, miracles and healings. Angels are like unto us when we are like God the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost; and we must have holy ears to hear what they are saying.
Divide with the Lord
One way to give glory to God is by tithing and giving to Him. Tithing is a commandment of God in His Word. The tenth shall be holy unto the LORD(Leviticus 27:32). God told the Israelites they had robbed Him when they did not tithe. Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:8).
The Bible also says that a person who does not give to God is like a man trying to fill up a sack with holes in it. He that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes (Haggai 1:6). If you wonder why you are not getting anywhere with God, check to see if you are robbing Him.
Jesus told the Pharisees, Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone(Luke 11:42).
You may think you don’t make enough to pay tithes to God; but did you ever think about why you don’t make more than you do, or why God doesn’t multiply it any more than He does? The Bible says, Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it (Malachi 3:10).
The windows of Heaven are there, but the latch is on your side; and you are the only one who can open it. When you do, you will have blessings in abundance. If you keep the window latched, you will displease God, the Son and the Holy Ghost because you are a robber. You may never consider robbing a gas station, a bank, a store or an individual; yet you rob God when His law of love is laid down in the Holy Scriptures for you.
Ananias and Sapphira robbed God, and an angel killed both of them. But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things(Acts 5:1-5).
About three hours later, Ananias’ wife, Sapphira, walked in. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband (Acts 5:8-10).
It is awful to disobey God, your Maker, in anything. At the end of each day, I want to know whether or not I have pleased God in everything; and you should check your life each night, too.
Defeat the Devil
The devil will do anything he can to get your mind off of God’s glory and virtue, but don’t let him. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:8). Those works can be destroyed in your life, too, if you are a true child of God.
God has taught me about the powers of the devil and how he works, and He said that devils enter through people’s eyes to possess their souls. Some of you have nightmares and see awful things because there is a thin veil that the devil puts over your eyes, and you see things that are not real. He causes you to see fearful things that are from hell itself, and fear is crippling. It tortures your mind and your body, so you have to get rid of that veil; and God revealed to me that only the blood can destroy it—that is the only remedy.
You have to get your mind off of the devil and think about what Jesus brought and taught. He declared, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord(Luke 4:18,19).
The Lord is only coming after those who are watching, waiting and expecting Him to come. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping (Mark 13:33-36). When you are expecting Jesus to come, you will do everything His love commandments tell you to; and you will do those things willingly.
Let the Holy Spirit Work
If you have the Holy Ghost, what are you doing with Him? Are you letting Him work through you? You cannot go day after day and week after week without letting the Holy Spirit speak through you. You have to yield to Him always so He can do God’s work through you.
When the Spirit baptizes you, He comes to live within your heart; but do you recognize Him to be a real person? Jesus always described the Holy Ghost with a personal pronoun. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come (John 16:13).
When people receive the real Holy Ghost, He speaks in a different language; but He can only use a holy tongue. Thus saith the Lord,it has to be holy like the tongue of Almighty God. The real Holy Ghost only speaks as the Spirit gives utterance just as He did on the Day of Pentecost. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:4). You can never speak in tongues at will; that grieves the Holy Spirit.
If you gossip and say things you shouldn’t say to people, you don’t have the real Holy Ghost; and if you think you do, you are deceived. Thus saith the Lord, you don’t have to believe me; but you will believe after the Rapture takes place and you are left behind because you will not go.
I tell people whatever God wants me to, and I never compromise with anyone no matter who they are. I am God’s believer, and I am obedient to all of His love commands. If God said it, I believe it; and that settles it.
True believers will experience divine signs and wonders, and they will see the manifestations of the Holy Spirit Himself. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:17,18).
Spread the Gospel
Thus saith the Lord, this is an awakening time for each member of the bridal company. The Lord is looking out for the Bride because He wants every member to be able to do all the work He has ordained for him or her to do. He has a special plan for each one of us, and He will show His plan to you step by step as you delight in His glory.
Many years ago, the Lord showed me His plan for this Jesus ministry; but I didn’t really understand it. So He made it like a puzzle, and He started me off with one piece. Then He gave me another piece and another. When you are putting together a puzzle, the more pieces you fit into place, the better you can see what the finished picture will look like; and that is what was happening with the picture of this ministry God was putting together for me. I wouldn’t beg the Lord for another piece; but as I yielded to Him, He would keep moving. The building continued until this Jesus worldwide outreach ministry that we have today was accomplished.
The Lord is getting the members of the bridal company ready for great things, and they are going to take the Gospel and the truth about the baptism of the Holy Ghost all over the world. The Bible says, This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come (Matthew 24:14).
You have to want to be drawn into the greatness of God and to be the great soul winner Jesus was, and you can be. When you are willing to win souls God’s way, He will draw people to you; but you have to want to be used by God and not constantly be running after people.
Jesus was always on His way to heal somebody or coming back from healing somebody, and He is our example. Yes, we all have to work for a living; but when you are not at your job, let the Lord use you. Ask the Lord to bring a person to you and tell Him you will give that person your time. Then let the Spirit lead you. You have to use divine tact to make proper contact with a soul; and that only comes through the holiness, the power and the wisdom of God.
God has marked certain people for each one of us to win, but that person may cross your path only one time; so you have to be ready. You may have only a few seconds or a few minutes to work with them, so you must stay plugged into Heaven. You don’t have to say a lot of words to them, but you must have the anointing power of God in every word you speak. You must give honor where honor is due and give all the glory to the Lord.
God Is Calling You
It is the goodness of God and the convicting power of the Holy Ghost that help you to see your need of Jesus. The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance(Romans 2:4). Repentance means to feel regret for past conduct and to change for the better, and it is not just for the sinner. You need to repent if you have failed God in any way—in prayer, fasting or in anything else He has called you to do. You must repent from being too strong in self or from being too zealous to promote your own wants and wishes instead of God’s.
If you are a sinner or have failed God in any way, you must repent today before it is too late. Pray with me now: Oh, God, save my soul! I am so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I will serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, now you can say, Hallelujah, He has come! Hallelujah, Jesus is mine!
Continue on praising the Lord and receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, power from On High, as I have already explained to you in this message. Study the second chapter of Acts and tell the Lord you want the same experience the Lord poured out on the Day of Pentecost. He is still pouring the Spirit out today but in an even greater way than before, and whosoever will can come to the table of the Lord. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely (Revelation 22:17).
Let Healing Virtue Flow
If you need healing, your miracle is on the Lord’s table. You can be healed of anything when it is done for His glory and when you give Him all the glory for your miracle. I was dying when I was just twenty-three, and I would have if it had not been for the healing power of God.
I had many things wrong with me, and I watched my body go down to almost a skeleton. When it came to the point where I knew I would be gone in a few more days, Jesus came and made me whole all over. He healed all my afflictions so I could go on preaching the Gospel of Christ. If you believe, God can do that for you, too.
Lord, you have given this servant of yours healing for the people. I am not the healer; you are the healer. In the divine, blood name of Jesus, I curse AIDS, leprosy, cancer, heart trouble, lung diseases, paralysis and any other afflictions the people may have. Heal, in the all-powerful name of Jesus! I command little, deformed children to be made whole and those who may have been born with only part of a brain. God, you have re-created so many brains, and you will do it again, in the holy name of the Lord.
God’s healing power is flowing to you now; be thou made whole! That is why I love to preach the true Word of God—because He confirms it with signs, wonders, miracles and healings. God is the healer; and I always give Him all the honor, the praise and the glory.
Feel His presence and know that your miracle is the work of the great God of the universe. Man can’t do these things. Everything you need is in the power of the divine blood. Victory is yours, so accept it and praise God for it.
Thus Saith the Lord
I am your God. I am here to make each one of you a greater soul winner. I have sent the Holy Ghost to you. Yield to my Spirit, and He will direct you. He will help you to learn how you can win so many, many souls for my Kingdom. I have all power; and it is yours, saith the Lord.
