Behold the Great Physician!
by Ernest Angley
August 2020
A physician is a person who heals, relieves or comforts; and we can freely declare that Jesus is the Great Physician who heals all manner of sicknesses and diseases. And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people (Matthew 9:35). No sickness or disease is too hard for Jesus to heal.
Promises of healing are found in both the Old and New Testaments, and you need to study the whole Word of God. Jesus can deliver you from anxiety, depression, oppression and all afflictions of the mind, spirit and body. He is the loving, tender physician who will comfort you in times of trouble. Behold Him, the Great Physician!
God wants you to examine His Son closely. Measure Him; weigh Him. Do you really know Him? Do you believe He is the Son of God who was born of the Virgin Mary? Is He trustworthy and dependable? Does He keep His promises? What kind of record does He have for providing for the human race? What does God say about His Son?
How do you examine Jesus?—through the Word of God. God said, Attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh (Proverbs 4:20-22). The Word is God’s voice speaking to mankind. You must hear that voice and pay attention to what it is saying. Read the Word with a steadfast look and never let it depart from your eyes.
Jesus Brings Life
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2). You must look to Jesus, the Great Physician. When you plant all He says in your heart, you will find life and health. The benefits of the Word are for the whole you, not just part of you.
Jesus doesn’t specialize in healing only one thing; the Bible says, Jesus went about all Galilee…healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people (Matthew 4:23). Although the Lord heals all manner of sickness and disease, He does not heal all manner of people. He cannot work with the doubt, unbelief and disobedience that many people display. The Lord has conditions under which He works, and He only works with divine love and divine faith; and He offers that love and faith to all.
The words of Christ are Spirit for the soul and life for the body. Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10). I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). If a person is sick all the time, it doesn’t matter how rich he is in material things; he is not really living. Many who are sick have gotten to the place where they would rather die than go on living in that condition. They no longer have any enjoyment in life.
You have to let the power of God work within you. In talking about the power of Christ, Paul said, Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily (Colossians 1:29). If the power of the Lord worked mightily in Paul, it can work mightily in you. That power will work mightily in the Bride in this final hour as she evangelizes the world.
Sin Brought Sickness
Sickness came about when man and woman sinned. By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin (Romans 5:12). Sickness is no more of God than sin is. Death also came because of sin, and death occurs most of the time through sickness or affliction.
Sin is of the devil, and that is where sickness comes from, too. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning (I John 3:8). Jesus said, No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon (Matthew 6:24).
The devil is the one who oppresses, and Jesus is the one who heals. God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38). If you think you are being oppressed by God, you are wrong. Only love, joy, laughter, gladness of heart and deliverance come from God.
Jesus brought liberty from oppression, a great year of Jubilee that has lasted throughout the entire Church Age. He said, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of Jubilee] (Luke 4:18,19).
Under the Law, every fiftieth year was the year of Jubilee—a time when properties were returned to people and slaves were set free. But through the blood of Jesus, we have Jubilee all the time. We have the opportunity to be born again and live free from sin, and we can stay free as long as we commit no willful sin. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36). To remain free, there can be no sin in you.
Healing Is Your Inheritance
Through the divine blood, we can be partakers of Christ’s divinity. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature (II Peter 1:4). Only through the blood of Jesus can you be saved or healed.
James wrote, Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed (James 5:16). This verse shows that it is the will of God for people to be healed.
The faults James was speaking of were not sins; they included such things as finding it difficult to believe God, not following in His steps the way you should, not reading the Word enough or being impatient and inconsiderate. When you acknowledge those types of things, it persuades others to examine themselves, too.
Now, take note that confessing faults does not mean repeating gossip you have already passed on to others and then feeling justified in doing it. That would just be an underhanded way of continuing to pass on gossip. Some people supposedly “confess gossip” one to another and then wonder why they don’t get healed.
We must realize the divine inheritance we have through Jesus and claim it. Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:14). The earnest of our inheritance is the life of Jesus made manifest in our mortal flesh (II Corinthians 4:11). Jesus was never sick, so part of our inheritance is physical healing. The Bible says, But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness [Jesus] arise with healing in his wings (Malachi 4:2).
God Wants to Heal You
The first step toward being healed is deciding that healing is God’s will for you. Does God get glory out of your sickness and pain? I was near death when I was just twenty-three, but the Lord didn’t get any glory out of it until I was healed; and the “hallelujahs” began to flow. I cried, “Thank God, I’m healed! Praise the Lord; He did it!”
If God is getting glory out of your sickness, then stay sick; but if you believe He will get glory out of you being made well, then claim healing. Tell Him you want to glorify His name, and He will listen.
I cannot stress too much that it is the will of the Lord for you to be well. I say again that sickness comes from the devil; and Jesus, the Great Physician, makes you well. Never think that sickness comes from the Lord. The Bible says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning (James 1:17). Sickness certainly is not a good or a perfect gift; but if you disobey God, you put yourself in the devil’s territory where he can afflict you.
When the Israelites ate the Passover lamb as God had instructed them to, it brought them physical life. When they left Egypt, the Bible says, There was not one feeble person among their tribes (Psalm 105:37). Not a feeble person was among them, much less a sick one. God had made every person whole and strong, and that is His will for all people.
That Passover lamb is a type and shadow of the Lamb of God, Jesus, who was slain for our salvation as well as for our healing. Wouldn’t it be wonderful for the Lord to heal the members of the bridal company completely and make them all healthy and well so they can bring in the harvest in this last hour? Don’t you believe in complete healing according to the Word of God?
When the Israelites were keeping the Passover in Hezekiah’s day, the Bible says, The LORD hearkened to Hezekiah [to his prayers], and healed the people (II Chronicles 30:20). The type and shadow of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross was still working in Hezekiah’s day; and because of Jesus’ sacrifice, it is still working today. Do you accept His sacrifice? Do you accept Him as your Passover Lamb of redemption? Jesus was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:8). He didn’t only redeem you from sin but also from sickness.
Put Yourself on Healing Ground
Almost every time we look in on Jesus in the four Gospels, He was either healing someone, going to heal someone or coming from healing someone. Healing is mentioned in the four Gospels more than anything else, even salvation. You must study to find out what is in the Gospels and know that everything is for you, Child of God. That is why it is so strange that so many preachers fail to teach physical healing!
By healing the sick again and again, Jesus demonstrated the value He placed on the body and the fact that He wants us to be well. Of course, the soul is the most important part of us; but the body is important, too. It is so important that it is the temple of the Holy Ghost (I Corinthians 6:19), the place where the Spirit dwells in each person who is baptized in Him.
If sickness comes from God as some claim it does, then Jesus was working against His own Father when He healed people; but He never worked against God. Jesus always carried out His Father’s will in perfection, and that included destroying sickness in anyone who believed in His power to heal.
If your heart is perfect in divine love and faith, you will be willing to obey Him and do whatever He wants. That puts you on healing ground, and then there is no reason why God would not want to heal you.
The Bible says, But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord (James 1:6,7). Many people have not received healing because their faith wavered. The Lord healed them, but they doubted and lost it. Maybe they had another pain, and they let that pain take the place of the promise of God.
You can’t let anything replace God’s Word in your life. It is more powerful than anything on Earth if you will let it be. Jesus said, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away (Matthew 24:35). The Word of God will abide forever.
The Bible says, For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him (II Chronicles 16:9). The Lord shows Himself strong by delivering believers from all the powers of the enemy, and that includes sickness as well as sin. Also, because God’s eyes are running to and fro throughout the whole Earth, we know He is present with us; and we need His presence. He is our provider and our Good Shepherd. He is our righteousness, our peace and our Great Physician. We need God for everything.
Use Divine Faith
As I mentioned earlier, I went to the edge of the grave when I was twenty-three. I was very ill, and it looked as though I would surely die. I couldn’t understand why God had called me to preach when I was eighteen and then was letting me die when I was twenty-three. I was sick and on a strict diet for over a year, and I watched my body go down to almost a skeleton.
Then one night, the Lord Himself came and healed me. There were many things wrong in my body, but He made me completely whole. I wanted to tell the whole world about what God had done for me.
When I was going through all of that, I felt as though all my faith was gone; but later, I realized I felt that way because I had suffered so much and was living by feelings rather than by faith, and faith and feelings have nothing in common. Never measure your faith by your feelings; measure it only with the Word of God. If you believe the Bible, you have all the faith you need because the Bible is your faith book. You don’t need any more faith than what you can find in the Word of God, and God will never require you to use more than that. He put everything you need in the Bible, but you must use it.
Faith is a gift from God. God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith (Romans 12:3). That faith is freely given, so there is no reason why you should have a shortage of it in your life; but when you tie the Lord’s hands with unbelief, He cannot bring you healing. When you doubt His promises and use your own opinions instead of His, God cannot move for you because you are not accepting what He said. You have to use the faith God has given you.
What is faith? It’s simply believing God and expecting Him to do what He said He would. Faith to be healed is expecting nothing less than getting well and being in good health. Claim the promise of healing in the Word of God and be healed.
Jesus Heals Today
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth (III John 1:2). Jesus died on the Cross so your soul could be healthy and without one speck of sin, and He died for you to be healthy in body as well. Jesus doesn’t glory in you being sick; He came all the way from Heaven to make you well in soul, mind and body.
When Jesus asked people, Wilt thou be made whole? (John 5:6), they were healed if they agreed with Him. Study the ways Jesus healed when He was on Earth and know that He still heals in the same ways today. Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Many people and even preachers have presented a warped version of Christ that can’t be found in the Bible, but I can find my Jesus in the Bible every time I read it. He is always there in all His glorious power.
God made many wonderful promises to the Israelites, but the promises we now have under grace are much greater. Paul told the Romans, Ye are not under the law, but under grace (Romans 6:14). He wanted them to know that they had all the promises of God available to them.
Under The Law, there was a Day of Atonement once a year. The high priest would have to go into the holy of holies and make atonement for the sins of the people while everyone else had to stand outside. They couldn’t contact God directly; but after Jesus was crucified, the veil in the temple that covered the entrance to the holy place was torn in half. It was torn from top to bottom, signifying that God had done it, not man; and there no longer was a wall between man and his God. Now, anyone who wants to can step right into the presence of God. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).
The Seven Redemptive Names of Jesus
You will find seven redemptive names in the Bible that refer to Jesus.
1. The Lord is ever present. They shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us (Matthew 1:23). In the Garden of Eden, God had walked and talked with Adam and Eve; but when they sinned, it caused a separation between man and his God. That separation existed until Jesus brought redemption to Earth. Now, we have been made nigh through His blood. But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13). We can enjoy the Lord’s presence all the time.
2. The Lord is our peace. Jesus said, For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us (Ephesians 2:14). Jesus gave us divine peace through His atoning blood.
3. The Lord is our shepherd. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want (Psalm 23:1). Jesus gave His life to redeem the lost sheep of the world, and we have great benefits available to us through the atonement of Jesus!
4. The Lord will provide. God provided Christ as an offering to redeem us from sin; and now through Jesus, all our needs can be supplied. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
5. The Lord is our banner. In other words, He is our power, our strength, our deliverance, our victory and our captain. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 15:57). God gave us everything through Jesus. When we speak the name “Jesus” with all the knowledge, power and love of God, we can make hell shake. I speak the name “Jesus”; and the blind receive their sight, the deaf hear and the crippled are made to walk. I speak the name “Jesus,” and devils go out of those they possess.
6. The Lord is our righteousness. Jesus bore our sins on Calvary to give us His robe of righteousness. We never could have worn that robe if Jesus had not come; and no one can carry the name “Jesus” unless they are wearing that robe of righteousness and living free from sin. The first thing that happens when you come to the Lord is He makes you a new creation in Christ Jesus. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new (II Corinthians 5:17). You are redeemed into a new and living way.
7. He is the Lord that healeth thee. I am the LORD that healeth thee (Exodus 15:26). God gave that promise to the Israelites when they came out of Egypt, and that promise still stands for today because God never changes.
Thank God for the redemptive works of Jesus! Throughout these thousands of years, the Lord has revealed one or more of those seven names to people; but now in Christ Jesus, we have them all. He brought them to us; so when you say the name “Jesus,” you have it all.
Jesus, Our Sickness-Bearer
And he [Jesus] cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses (Matthew 8:16,17). Don’t forget this statement: Sin and sickness pass from us to Calvary, and salvation and healing pass from Calvary to us. Aren’t you glad Jesus came? Knowing your sins are gone should give you faith to know that your sicknesses will be gone, too.
The Lord promised the Israelites, And ye shall serve the LORD your God…and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee (Exodus 23:25). Again, He promised them, And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee (Deuteronomy 7:15). God promised good health to the Israelite people if they would obey Him in everything, but they didn’t obey; and their disobedience brought sickness upon them.
The Lord is the one who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Psalm 103:3). The Bible also says, There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling (Psalm 91:10). When you are born again, you are made free of your sins; and the Lord has made provision for you to be free of your sicknesses, too. Being sick is a miserable existence, and I hated being sick. That’s why it is so wonderful to know that Jesus is our sickness-bearer as well as our sin-bearer.
How can you doubt that it is God’s will to heal when His very Son came as our sickness-bearer? Christ is the manifestation of God’s will. Everything God manifested through Jesus Christ when He was on Earth is God’s will. A legal, earthly will is no good until the person making out the will dies. In the same way, Jesus died for us, rose again and left the New Testament as His will for us. Children of God have inherited all the benefits of God’s will through Jesus.
Speak God’s Language
The Lord put His will into words for us through Jesus, and that shows just how much He loves and cares for us. He will do anything for those who serve Him. He is our healer, our deliverer and our everything. Through Christ, we can see a beautiful picture of God’s life, deliverance, love, faith, care and understanding. Christ’s walk on Earth is a great manifestation of living life to its fullest according to the will of God!
Jesus brought the language of love, peace, joy, happiness and grace. It is God’s language for the new person. It is no wonder the Bible says, Be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy (I Peter 1:15,16). God’s people never tell dirty jokes, say curse words or even use questionable language. They don’t desire things that are filthy or obscene. They seek to be holy like Jesus, and they have adopted the holy language of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Do you use the language of Jesus; or do you defile your mouth, your soul and your life with vulgar, sinful and shady language? Do you speak words that edify and bless others? If you use the language of Jesus, people will be blessed, helped and strengthened.
You must be very careful of what you say. Jesus said, Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment (Matthew 12:36). Many Christians are careless with their words and don’t speak unto edification. The Apostle Paul was so much like Jesus—can you imagine his speech being filled with frivolous, empty words? Can you picture him wasting time and not blessing or edifying people?
Healing for the whole person is in the language of comfort Jesus spoke to people. Through Jesus, the children of God will heal much hurt in this final hour as they step into the holiness of God and become like Jesus. However, no one can be like Him without speaking His language.
I use the language of Jesus, and people are healed as I speak because His healing power goes forth in His language. You will find His love and faith in perfection in His language because all that He brought goes forth in His language.
New creatures in Christ are supposed to speak the Jesus language, the language of the new and living way; but many still use the language of the world. That will never work. Born-again children of God must become so holy through the blood of Jesus that they are candidates for the Holy Ghost baptism; and then when the Spirit comes in, He will dwell in them.
The first thing the Holy Spirit does when He baptizes a person is take over the person’s tongue and speak in a heavenly language. Think of how amazing it is that divinity will take the human tongue and use it to speak as He chooses! I never get over the wonder of it.
The Compassionate Jesus
In Christ, you will find the manifestation, or expression, of God’s loving mercy. Not until Jesus came did people fully realize the abundance of that mercy. Those who have never known Jesus cannot understand His mercy because only through Jesus can you begin to measure it.
Mercy is compassion, and Jesus had great compassion for people; and He brought that manifestation of God’s will to us in the form of healing. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick (Matthew 14:14).
The Lord is manifesting Himself today through dedicated, consecrated, born-again members of the Bride of Christ; and He will continue to manifest Himself through them more and more in this last and final hour. His mercy, faith and love will pour forth to the world; and miracles and healings will take place in abundance. That is how it was when Jesus was on Earth, and that is how it will be again. Jesus healed multitudes of people, and His power to heal is still the same today.
Study the healing God put in nature here on Earth and know that He has given man the knowledge to take that healing from nature and apply it to our bodies in the form of different medicines. God has also given our bodies certain abilities to heal themselves; but in any case, God is the one who heals. Nature doesn’t rebel against God’s healing, but people do. Many are stubborn when it comes to accepting God’s healing; and that prevents God from manifesting the greatness, compassion and mercy of His healing power the way He wants to.
New Life in Jesus
God loves people and longs for everyone to be with Him in Heaven. To make that possible, Jesus paid a great price and came to Earth as a man. He became related to the human race, but He had divine blood in His veins. He was very God and very man. He died for us so we could have deliverance for our souls, and He was resurrected for us to show us that we too could have new, glorified bodies not subject to death or pain. That is victory in Jesus! It is so exciting to study the greatness of Him! Some people do not realize their benefits in Jesus; but when you have Him, you have everything you could ever need.
The Bible says, Jesus bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness (I Peter 2:24). You must be dead to sin, but how can you be dead to sin when there is still some of it in you? When you become dead to sin, you will live unto righteousness all the time.
Remember that Jesus said, “Ask what you will”; but you can’t do that without the Word, and you can’t use the Word unless you have and live the Word. You can’t use something you don’t have. The Word is just print on paper until it comes to life in your spirit through the Holy Spirit. He lifts it off the pages of the Bible and places it into your spirit, where it takes on life. You don’t have any more of the Word available to you than what is alive within your spirit.
Healing for the Mind
And his [Jesus’] fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatic, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them (Matthew 4:24). Jesus heals and casts out devils.
Healing for soul, mind and body is the will of God. There were seven children in the Angley family, and none of us ever had to go to a psychiatrist or a counselor because we had the Word in our home. The Word kept our minds in wonderful condition. No one was mentally tormented or had a nervous breakdown.
If people choose not to live in God’s will, they have to do the best they can. It is so tragic to see people shut away in institutions when they could be free. I remember a man who came into the healing line in one of my services, and he was so tormented because his daughter was in a mental institution and confined to a padded cell. Her mind was completely gone, and those in charge of her case wouldn’t let him see her. They told him that as fast as they put clothes on her, she would tear them off.
I had so much divine compassion for him. He was so grieved because his wife had died, and all he had left was the daughter he loved so much; but she was completely insane. I took his hand and told him, “I will agree with you in prayer that God will deliver your daughter and bring her into her right mind.”
About a week after I had prayed with him, he returned; and his eyes were shining like stars. He was so thankful as he said, “God completely delivered my daughter. I went to the institution, and she was as normal as could be. Now, she is at home with me.” It was a wonderful deliverance. The father then found Jesus for himself. He wasn’t looking to me; he was looking to God and seeking the way to Calvary. Miracles bring people to God.
Divine Miracles Are Amazing
And there followed him [Jesus] great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan (Matthew 4:25). Great things had to be taking place for all of those people to be following Jesus, and they were. He was healing people, and His fame spread far and wide.
A woman who had suffered with an issue of blood for twelve years just touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, and her miracle took place. It is the first record we have of someone touching His garment and being healed. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour (Matthew 9:22). Her faith was divine faith, and it brought about her miracle. Everyone, remember, is given a measure of faith.
Two blind men followed Jesus, crying out for mercy. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it (Matthew 9:29,30). It always thrills me for God to open the eyes of the blind. I especially love to see a child who was born blind receive his sight, and then I have the privilege of witnessing the expression on the mother’s face when her child sees her for the first time.
During one of my crusades, I had the great privilege of praying for a mother who had been blind for over thirty years and had never seen her children. She had quite a number of children, and they all were either in their teens or grown. When she received her sight, her husband kept running back to the pew to get another child to bring to her; and he would exclaim, Mamma, this is Grace! This is Jane! This is John! This is Frank!” She lit up each time. It wasn’t the will of God for her to be blind; it was His will for her to see. The devil was the one who had robbed her of sight for all those years. That miracle was a wonderful manifestation and expression of God’s will.
Another man brought his blind and crippled wife for prayer, and she received both of her miracles. He came back later and said, “I thought she would never go to bed that night. She had to look at all the pictures and everything in the house.” The doctors had said there was no more they could do for his wife; but because of the Great Physician, she could see and walk.
One of the couple’s neighbors had been helping take care of the man’s wife; and he ran to tell him, “Come, come! My wife can see, and she is walking!” They went racing to his house, and the neighbor was flabbergasted. The man’s wife was walking all over, and she could see just as well as they could. God had done that.
Use Divine Faith
Let me remind you again that Jesus is the manifestation of God’s will for us in the form of miracles and healings. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest (Matthew 9:36-38).
What kind of laborers does God want to go forth?—those who carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and those who will carry divine, healing power for soul, mind and body and help set the captives free. There has always been a shortage of laborers who will carry the power of Almighty God.
And when he [Jesus] had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease (Matthew 10:1). Jesus gave His disciples the same power He had used to heal the sick and cast out devils. There was no shortage of the power of God. The Father sent His Only Begotten to Earth as the manifestation of His will for mankind.
Jesus restored a man’s withered hand. Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other (Matthew 12:13). That man had faith, and he did what Jesus told him to; and his hand was healed.
You must exercise faith, too, if you want to receive from the Lord. Some people say they have faith, but they won’t use it. If asked to stretch out their hand for healing, they say, “I can’t.” Well, they won’t receive anything that way.
When the Pharisees heard about the man’s miracle for his hand, they plotted to destroy Jesus. But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all (Matthew 12:15). That multitude of people had so much faith that Jesus was able to heal them all. They accepted Him as the Christ, the Son of God and the Great Physician. They believed He had come from God just like He said He did, and they accepted His mission.
Jesus backed up His words with signs and wonders, and people were healed and delivered when they decided He had told them the truth. Do you believe Jesus to be all He claimed to be?
I say again that the Bible doesn’t teach that Jesus healed all manner of people. He could only heal all manner of sickness and disease in those who believed and used their faith.
Touch Jesus
Jesus attracted people wherever He went. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them (Matthew 15:30). The faith of the people rose high, and they came from everywhere to see Him. They wanted His message as well as His love, faith and healing power.
Jesus said, Ask [according to God’s will], and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you (Matthew 7:7). Ask and receive; knock, and it will be opened. It’s just that simple.
And when the men of that place had knowledge of him [Jesus], they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased; And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole (Matthew 14:35,36). When people learned and believed that Jesus was the Christ, the Great Physician, the Only Begotten Son of God and the Redeemer of Israel, they brought to Him people from all over the country who were diseased. They cried, “Come and see a man who can heal you and make you well! He is the Son of God, the Messiah we have been waiting for!” The people went to see Jesus, and they used their faith.
That scripture also says that as many as touched Jesus were made whole. Jesus felt the healing power go out of Him when people touched Him in faith. And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all (Luke 6:19). The whole multitude knew if they could just touch Him, they would be healed; and the healing virtue flowed.
When a woman who had suffered with an issue of blood for twelve years touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, He knew it. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me (Luke 8:45,46).
Jesus felt the virtue go out of Him because the woman had touched His garment in great faith, and she received her miracle. Others who reached out to touch Him in faith were healed as well. However, I’m sure that other people touched Him and received nothing because they didn’t touch Him in faith.
Healing through the Blest Cloth
Jesus was the Word made flesh. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (John 1:14). And God the Father sent his word, and healed them (Psalm 107:20). How can you believe God if you don’t know what He has said? You must have knowledge of the Word and the promises God put in that Word. Faith to receive miracles comes from having knowledge of the Word of God and accepting what God has said. Then you must act on the Word knowing that God will do what He said He would.
Jesus came to lift burdens and make life simple, not to burden you down. Life only becomes complicated when you listen to self and the devil instead of the voice of God in the Word.
And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them (Acts 19:11,12). This Jesus ministry sends out anointed blest cloths our ministers have prayed over to the world. In faith, people touch those anointed cloths of God and are healed. The cloth isn’t the healer; it’s the anointing of God that goes with the cloth, and that anointing drives out evil spirits.
We received a report from one nation saying that five lepers from one village have been cleansed by using the blest cloth. All kinds of fantastic things are happening. Some pastors use a blest cloth to have miracle services. People line up to touch the blest cloth, and the pastors are reporting to us that the people are being healed. I say again that it isn’t the cloth that heals; it’s the power of God that goes with the cloth.
The garment of Jesus didn’t heal; it was the anointing of God on Christ’s garment that healed. People simply used His garment as a point of contact to help them release their faith just as people today use the blest cloths to help them release their faith.
Expect Complete Deliverance
Wilt thou be made completely whole, or do you want healing on the installment plan? Why accept partial healing when God wants to make you whole all over? I didn’t receive my salvation a little at a time; my whole soul was saved the night I went to the altar. The night the Lord came to heal me when I was dying, He healed me all over. That is why I preach Jesus and why I’m taking Him to the world.
There has never been a personality as wonderful as that of Jesus; and through much fasting and seeking God, I try to be just as much like Him as I possibly can. I want people to see Jesus in me; He is the wonderful one. I must decrease, and He must increase as I take the Gospel to the world.
People came from all over to hear Jesus because of the miracles He was performing, and they were healed of whatever diseases they had. And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there (Matthew 19:2). And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases; And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed (Luke 6:17,18).
Devil-possessed people are delivered through this Jesus ministry again and again. One young woman who was possessed by a number of devils was brought into one of our services. She had the facial expressions of the demons that possessed her. Some of our ushers had to help her family keep her under control during the service; but then, she was completely delivered through the power of God. When I saw her again, she didn’t look like the same girl. She was full of the love of Jesus, and the glory of God shone on her face and in her eyes. She was lovely—that is what the Lord can do.
Accept that Jesus is the Great Physician and reach out to touch Him in faith believing. And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing (Luke 9:11). All who had need of healing and yielded to the Gospel received their miracles.
Take a Step of Faith
When you are reviled and persecuted for His sake, Jesus said to rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven (Matthew 5:12). It takes God’s faith and happiness for you to rejoice in persecutions; you won’t be able to do that if you use human feelings. The happiness of God will bubble up from deep inside you and bring joy in the valley.
In Jesus’ day, there was a pool in Jerusalem called Bethesda. At certain times, an angel would come down and trouble the water of the pool; and the first person to step into the water was healed of whatever disease or affliction he had.
A crippled man lay by the pool waiting for the angel to trouble the water, but he didn’t have anyone to help him into the pool before someone else got in. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked (John 5:6,8,9). The Word spoke, and that man received the Word and obeyed the Word. The man didn’t try to explain that he had been crippled for thirty-eight years; he put his faith in the Word and received his miracle. He stood up, picked up his bed and walked.
That was a great miracle, yet some of the people there were angry. They told the man it was not lawful for him to carry his bed on the Sabbath, but he was too happy to pay attention to them; and he continued to walk by faith.
The angel troubling the waters was a type and shadow of the healing of Jesus; but the healing of Jesus is for everyone, not just one person at a time. Whoever steps into His love, His faith, His knowledge, His greatness and His promises can be healed.
Have No Doubt
When you walk by faith like the crippled man did, you leave doubters behind. If doubters can sway you, you are not walking by faith but by feelings. So never listen to doubters; listen to the words of Jesus. The devil tries to bring doubt, but he is a liar. Jesus said, For he is a liar, and the father of it (John 8:44). The devil is apt to tell you anything, so why listen to him when you can listen to the Word of God? The Lord only tells you things that will edify and bless you, things that express His will for you.
When the disciples were out on the sea in the midst of a terrible storm, they were so afraid. Then Jesus came to them walking on the waters and said, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come (Matthew 14:27-29).
Peter stepped out of that boat in all faith and began to walk. He was looking to Jesus, and he had heard the Word say that he could walk the waters; but after a few steps, he let his feelings take over, and he began to sink. He saw the huge waves rolling in; and he listened to the devil whisper, “Look at those waves. Feel the wind.” Then Peter took his eyes off Jesus, and down he went.
Then Peter cried, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt (Matthew 14:30,31)? Peter had been doing well until he doubted.
Many people are like Peter. They do well until they let doubt come in. Then they begin to feel and see in the human, and they let feelings drown out their faith. I say again, faith and feelings have nothing in common.
Live by Faith
The Bible says, As it is written, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). The just will live, walk, breathe and receive the faith of God. Do you have divine faith? Don’t look at your affliction, and don’t live in fear and doubt. You may have been told that you are going to die, but divine faith says you will live. However, if you are only using your human faith that says you are going to die, then there is no need for me to pray for your healing. You must believe and have faith in the promises of God and His healing power. Jesus said to a leper who believed, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole (Luke 17:19).
Jesus is now on center stage, and our Great Physician came to manifest Himself and minister to people. Again and again, He performs masterful surgery. Thank God for Jesus! Study Him; He is your example. Talk like He talked, and use the faith He used.
Jesus healed many when He was on Earth, and He is still healing today through believers. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12).
When Jesus went away, He sent the Holy Ghost to dwell in His followers; and the Spirit gave them power for service. Jesus had told them, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you (Acts 1:8). Are you ready to step into divine greatness, or are you going to sit and wonder whether or not you can be healed? Paul said, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philippians 4:13).
Healed by Divine Blood
The Bible says, But he [Jesus] was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). Carefully study all of Isaiah 53, and you will find that Jesus took our place on that Cross and became our substitute.
Peter tells us, By whose stripes ye were healed (I Peter 2:24). Your healing has already been paid for. Jesus, the Great Physician, paid the price at the whipping post. Why believe the Lord takes away your sins but not your sicknesses when the Bible tells you He takes both? Claim God’s promises. Claim the blood of Jesus for your physical healing just like you claim the blood for your salvation. I am the Lord that healeth thee is not only a promise but a statute of The Law.
The divine blood heals because there is life in that blood. Jesus had divine blood in His veins because the blood comes from the father, and God was the Father. The Holy Ghost overshadowed the Virgin Mary, and the baby who was conceived in her womb was of the Holy Ghost. That is why that even though Jesus had a physical body, He still was the divine Son of God.
I say again that your healing comes through the blood. Many have confessed, “With His stripes, I am healed!” And God healed them. When people come into the healing line at Grace Cathedral, it isn’t my prayer that heals them or the fact that I lay a hand on them. When they confess that they are healed by Jesus’ blood stripes, the healing takes place.
In the beginning of my ministry, my wife, Angel, and I traveled with a large tent; and we had a sign over the platform that read: With His Stripes We Are Healed. Night after night, people were healed as they sat in the tent reading that promise of God. It was in accordance with the Word of God. You too must let those words ring in your heart and in your very soul.
Some people complain that I don’t give them enough attention in the healing line, and they think I should do more than just lay a hand on them. The truth is that they don’t claim the promise that says, They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover (Mark 16:18). When a believer lays hands on you, use the faith God offers you and get well according to the promise of God.
Know God’s Will for You
The gift of miracles is working in a great way in this final hour, and many people have been made completely whole. Jesus died so we could be saved and healed, which proves that it isn’t the will of God for His children to be sick. Jesus died for our pain because it isn’t God’s will for us to have pain. Jesus died for our transgressions and iniquities, and He wants us to have peace.
The Lord wants us to be delivered in soul, mind and body and live free from sin; so fall in love with Jesus and with God’s manifestations of His will for you. Walk in the footsteps of Jesus and know without a doubt that you are pleasing God.
Accept healing the same way you accepted your salvation—put it all under the blood. In fact, you have to put anything unlike Jesus under the blood; and when you do, that means the blood conquers it. Through faith, put your sicknesses and diseases under the blood and be healed. If you have any more pain, just say, “That can’t be because my affliction is under the blood!” You can’t have a disease when you truly put it under the blood.
Turn the devil over to the blood and let the blood deal with him. The devil may continue to try you for a week, a month or even longer; but as long as you cling to the blood and faith, you will come out of it. The Lord taught me to do that, and it works.
Let Jesus In
Jesus shed His blood for your sins; so if you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, say the sinner’s prayer with me right now: Oh, God, save my soul! Forgive me for all my sins. I’m so sorry I sinned against you, but I have come home; and I will serve you, Lord, for the rest of my life. I believe the blood of Jesus washes away all my sins. Come into my heart, Jesus! Come on in! If you meant that prayer, He has come. Your sins have been washed away through the blood of Jesus, and sin can have no more dominion over you.
Let the Great Physician Work
Now that your sins are gone, your next wonderful benefit is healing for the physical body. You can have it all through Christ—healing for the whole person, for your loved ones and for your child. It’s hard to tell how many deformed children have been healed through this Jesus ministry, and many of their miracles have been verified by doctors. I have prayed for children who couldn’t learn; and suddenly, they began to learn and get good grades. God did it.
God can heal cancer, heart trouble, diabetes, kidney disease and deafness; and He can re-create crippled limbs. Nothing is too hard for the Lord when you trust Him in faith believing. Never forget that He heals all manner of sickness and disease with His blood stripes.
The Bible says, The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up (James 5:15). Let me pray for you now: Lord, I bring the people before you in obedience to your Word. You told me years ago that you would heal the people, and you have healed thousands as your servant has ministered to them. I come as a servant of the living God with your marvelous gifts of healing and miracles being manifested. From those gifts, the miracle power flows through the Holy Ghost. Heal! Heal! in the holy, all-powerful name of Jesus!
The healing virtue is flowing. Feel His holy presence. Remember that one of the seven covenant names is the Lord is ever present. He is with you right now through His divine blood. His presence made people well when Jesus was here, and it can get you well now. Through the blood, we have been made sons and daughters of God. Watch yourself or your loved ones get well. Then write, email or post a message to one of our social media pages and let us know what God has done for you today.
Thus Saith the Lord
Yea, saith the Spirit of the Lord, I am your healer. I am the one to deliver you, but you have hindered me again and again. Many of you have been so close that you could have touched me and been made whole, and yet you let the enemy make you doubt. I sorrowed when you failed to receive. You walked away disappointed. You went to bed in fear. I tried to strengthen you. My Holy Spirit worked and worked to bring you to that place again and to help you reach and receive.
I am here; I’m not afar off. I am nigh unto my children. I am here to deliver you from all manner of sicknesses and diseases. I love you just like I loved the people when I walked the shores of Galilee and delivered them and when I walked the streets of Jerusalem and healed their sick and afflicted.
I am yours. I belong to you; and if you will only believe, it will make everything possible for you. The faith I have given to you and the love I have given to you are divine faith and divine love, and they work with divinity. I will deliver you. I will set you free; just trust me. Only believe, doubting nothing; and it shall be done, saith the Lord.
Behold the Great Physician and be made whole!
